Art Spotlight: Thing Called Future [Art] by TuuPii

This piece of art is stunning! I love how the darkness seems to be swirling around Emma and Regina, and then there are these ties of light that make it look like they're bound to something or to each other - that fading in and fading out is absolutely beautiful... WHOA, this is gorgeous!!! i absolutely love your style!! and the look on both emma and regina’s faces are just so expressive and GOOD. omg and the colors are fantastic!!! they really help set the mood of the piece!! so far i’ve only read the summary of the fic you’re paired with but this seems to fit so perfectly?? So there's golden strings of fate and I see Regina holding shears and the expression on both of them seem like it's gonna be some heartwrenching stuff... This is gorgeous! I love that it’s animated! It gives it that extra umph but even without it it's sooooooo pretty... I am so incoherent right now I haven't been able to stop staring at it oh my GOD. Wowowoww this is RIDICULOUSLY GOOD, I stared at this for so long earlier and I am in loVE with it ... Omg this gives me chills! It's absolutely stunning, the colours are gorgeous. And the effect with the threads is amazing.Loved the colors, the way the darkness swirls around them both, the glistening details of the threads of fate wrapped around them.Oh my, your art???? I have just read the fic and this art with the golden threads is everything???? ... AHHHHHHHHH.So hauntingly beautiful! Well done! Thank you for sharing!You do such an amazing job both with the setting– those tendrils of darkness really feel all-consuming in a terrifying way omg– and in the expressions on Emma and Regina's faces. I love it, especially how bright Emma and Regina are amongst all that darkness and it was such a nice surprise when I saw that it also moved! I love the contrast between the darkness surrounding them and the light binding them together. It's a symbol for their relationship and fits them so perfectly.  It is so chilling and so emotional, and you really did a perfect job capturing the fic with your art. and you also did a great job creating this in general like omg.. This is amazing art and having it be in motion with the golden threads of fate encircling Emma and Regina is a really cool feat

Interview with @tuupii-artz and their work for Thing Called Future 

What is your favorite medium to work with? For sketching I prefer pencil and paper, but for clean up I use Clip Studio Paint (and sometimes Photoshop for easier colour correction). When you are choosing a story do you base your choice on the snippet/summary alone or are you looking for a certain type of story? I'm not good with day-to-day kinda motifs. Of course I love romcom like fanfics, but I usually focus on the dialogues or the writing style when I read them. I'm also an animator, so the artsy side of my brain starts working when I read scenes that make me go "!!!!!!cineMATogrApHY!!!!!", and this happens in plot driven stories most of the time. That's why I check summaries for an adventure-y/magic-heavy feel to it. A no-go for me are usually (mundane) AUs. I just don't see the appeal of them? Which part of the creative process you enjoy the most? The colouring! What was the most challenging thing you faced while doing this particular art? Aside from my indecisiveness when it came to choosing an image hosting website (wtf ao3)? Honestly, that took me several hours... Anyways, there were two challenges that came up while actually working on the drawing. - How the fuck am I supposed to draw the swirly darkness thingie while still having a readable pose - animating the glow effect in a not super animation friendly software was a ... bad idea What would like to share about your art that you think the viewers might have missed? Pfshhh. uh. wow. It's been nearly a year since I worked on it. Ah yes. I absolutely decided to draw Regina's hair as it was in the earlier seasons, because I'm a gay and Mayor Mills is sexy af <3 Which do you find more difficult doing art for an AU story or Canon one and why? AU, because most of the times I just don't like them very much. When do you feel your art is complete? When the nitpicking stage starts to make my head eyes hurt. Tell us something about yourself (e.g. something new something old something nobody knows :D ) ? I use the juice of a whole lemon when I'm making a cup of black tea >:D

This week we spotlight  The Thing Called Future, by @tunemyart

They say the old Moirai spinе the spindle with your thread on it, exactly measured, and when your time comes, when you reach the end of the thread that you have been given - the blind old hand would cut it and end your existence. @Tunemyart is spinning a thread in a new way, searching for a different meaning of fate. Fate that is your own and by your own choosing and the question of whether such things exist for fairytale characters or if they are too entwined with what is written for them. This story reinvents what season 6a could have been while following a thread that connects people, time and space and searching for the answer to the question “Can you beat fate and stay whole?”.

This amazing story is completed by the amazing animated art by @TuuPii.
