how come im only just now hearing about this!!!! what!!!!

apparently there was a case from the 2nd investigations game that was cut because they were worried the story was going to be too long and they decided to turn said case into a two hour long stage play.

and its fucking perfect

the fucking INCREDIBLE way miles and the other characters are introduced via ✨logic chess✨. the way some of the best music from the games shows up throughout the show at the best times. the way the costumes seem like they were ripped right out of the game itself. the way they have super epic dance breaks between scene changes. the way the HOW MUUUUCH guy moves with the case during a said dance break. the way gummy gives his coat to kay.

i could go on and on and on about this. GO WATCH IT RIGHT NOW. you will not be disappointed.

i was a lil sad ray and lang didnt have a role but theres the spirit of lang with 'reminiscence ~ the fall of the house of lang' making an appearance :DD

Gumworth week day 1: injury/recovery

Miles gets injured and gumshoe has to take care of him in the aftermath of coming home from an eventful investigation. (Rather loosely based off of a scene in the “turnabout teleportation” stageplay, specifically the 2016 version.)

Miles groaned as he opened his eyes, head feeling groggy as he started waking up, started feeling the bandages around his arms, left leg and abdomen.

He hadn’t felt the true extent of his pain immediately after the injuries had been sustained and subsequently patched up by his childhood friend, Larry, but now that he’d had a full night’s rest, and that he knew Kay was safe, he felt them. He felt just how hard moving was and the dull yet incessant throbbing of his wounds.

As he vaguely registered Gumshoe entering the room with something in hand he weakly turned his head toward him.

“Hey pal. How you holding up?”

“Everything hurts…”

“Yeah, it’s to be expected with what Larry told me caused these and the extent of them. You’re real lucky they’re mostly superficial.” The larger man said, gently brushing hair out of Miles’s face, making the prosecutor aware that he likely had bruising on his face and around his more severe injuries. “I actually got you some Advil, google said it or Motrin would help with your pain. I also got you some water to take it.”

“Thank you Gumshoe… I appreciate it.”

“Don’t mention it hun. I’ll get you an ice pack for that nasty bruise there if you want one.”

“Actually… could you stay here and hold me once I’m medicated? I… I’d like being held for a moment.”

“Of course.”

Gumshoe smiled slightly as he realized Miles had dozed off against him, breathing deep, slow and even as he kept himself gently pressed against the larger man’s side. Seeing his lover so unguarded and vulnerable made gumshoe’s chest feel warm, simply happy he was trusted so dearly and that Miles was alright after what had happened.

They’d come home from that investigation the previous day, Kay was actually sleeping off her own injuries and a mild cold in her bedroom down the hall right now. Miles had insisted on each of them taking a shower upon returning home, Gumshoe having to help him change his bandages. That had been when he’d been made aware of the extent of the injuries falling into that Bore pit had been.

Gumshoe could vaguely remember hearing Miles screaming some distance behind him while they chased after Kay when she’d run off but hadn’t realized he’d been hurt this bad.

Seeing him now, relaxed and sleeping soundly, made him feel a bit better. Right now all he needed to do was take care of his little family while Miles and his adopted daughter recovered from that ordeal. He could handle that, they could handle that.

Magical turnabout is legitimately great and I'm gonna be honest, from a murder mystery standpoint, might be one of the best cases full stop. There's more aspects to what makes a good AA case than just the mystery in my mind so it's not gonna beat out Farewell my turnabout or anything as my favourite case but in that aspect it is immaculate. Every conclusion felt reasonable. Every piece of evidence added up, even ignoring the stuff that ends up in the court record. (Mr hats capes? Ugh so good) It rewards knowledge of the subject matter. If you know how certain tricks are performed you have an edge on solving it. I know how teleportation tricks are normally performed so that coming into the case made perfect sense. And it manages all this despite being technically very convoluted. Sure the killer was maybe a bit obvious but this is also AA and that's kind of always a thing but they put the mystery far more on figuring out how it happened not who did it which is smart for a series where at this point you kinda know the drill for the killers. Great case. Very much like Farewell in that it's an excellent case preceded by one of the worst in the series

This being said I did not give Trucy the fucking notebook at the end. FUCK that. She does not need to define herself by her shitty bio family. I have her the tape of her own performance because that's what she should be defining herself by.

We pick back up after [S] END OF ACT 6 INTERMISSION 1 (page 4390) with a fucking spectacular music number (Infinity mechanism - Thomas ferkol). I'm such a big fan of the beat that comes in when we get to see Jane looking out her window, you have no idea. Also I didn't cover the intermission because i didn't say much. I appreciate and love the beta kids and trolls but I just have more gears turning where the alpha kids are involved because they're not so clear cut and dry emotional wise as the betas. I'm pretty sure greater analysers than me have said all there needs to be said for the beta kids. All I have to add is this piece of dialog from 4359 that I liked:

KARKAT: ALRIGHT IF YOU'RE REALLY GOING TO GO KARKAT: JUST KARKAT: BE CAREFUL KARKAT: NO MORE POINTLESS BLOODSHED, OK? THAT'S AN ORDER! I really love how clingy Karkat but also accepting of his friends decisions goes. It's one of his great points as a knight of blood, but it also leads to some pretty funny turnabouts as he contradicts himself and fights himself on it.

4405 Well dead kids it is. These scenes.. when i read these scenes.. with such shitty sketch lines.. in my mind I hear Buy Somethin Will Ya? from the Earthbound OST. Or Hi Hi Hi (Theme of Saturn Valley).

You should be pleased to know those nuts were super deadly! Though to be fair he doesn't know if he died from the poison, or just choked on a bunch of barely chewed peanut bits. You know what else is super deadly, you say? Knives. Sharp deadly knives you stick in people's soft torsos to make them bleed until they die.

He doesn't have anything to say to that.

You guess you should feel grateful toward him for saving your life, but you know he's just as likely to rescue you from an explosion as he is to randomly teleport you across town, forcing you to call your dad and ask for a ride home, while you spend all day standing in some random field in the pouring rain while you wait hours for your dad to come and pick you up after he gets lost because he plugged the wrong place into google maps.

I really like the small bits of background we get about Jane too. Like this! Its such a nice scene. But it seems.. that uh oh! Guardian jumpscare.

Except in this case, it's no case of magical happenstance gone awry with a server player losing internet, but a dad being.. a *tad* more serious than given with how you're so totally grounded. No wonder Jane is so stubborn!

Is Turnabout Teleportation canon to the Edgeworth Investigations timeline or no?

It happened so fast. Vox had gone insane, brazen enough to send an invasion of his mind-controlled slaves to attack the hotel. Adam had seen a drone go after Charlie...in fact...they all aimed for her. He used his geologic power to create a barrier to protect her, the drones falling into the boiling magma below.

But that left Adam open.

Adam looked down to see a large knife coming out of his chest. Almost exactly where Niffty's blade had killed him.

The angelic sheen obvious as red blood bubbled out, Adam's eyes confused and scared. The sinner drone behind him, one of the slaves of the Vees, somehow getting behind the First Man.

Adam could barely feel, let alone see as he felt the knife aim up into his ribcage. His huge body lifted up, suspended on a single blade that shredded his organs.

Blood everywhere as he couldn't escape.

Charlie screamed, screaming out Adam's name. He....he'd saved her....

How Lucifer had missed something this big was... not that big of a mystery, truthfully. He had spent the better half of a decade self isolating in his palace, and he was very much out of touch with any current goings-on in Hell that wasn't directly related to Heaven, including anything with the Overlords. Even coming out of his self imposed house sentence, he hadn't really done much at all to tune back in. Simply focusing on helping with the hotel, supporting and trying to reconnect with his daughter, and befriending who had once been more or less his mortal enemy

Lucifer is even less prepared when said enemy-turned-friend suddenly had a knife poking out his chest (yet again), the first thing he sees as he had only just gotten onto the scene. But this time Adam was defending Charlie instead of trying to destroy what she had worked so hard for

If the situation weren't so critical, Lucifer might marvel at the complete turnabout Adam had done since over a year ago

But as it is, all Lucifer can do is teleport closer and shove the Sinner drone away to try and tend to any damage done to Adam

Seems it's already too late for that, as the life seems to be leaving Adam's Sinner body quickly

ace attorney x pokemon - kay and gumshoe !

these are based on the teams i gave them from my previous ace attorney x pokemon post, i couldnt stop thinking about them and their mons so i had to sketch them out!

in the process of drawing them out next to each other, i noticed kay and floragato have much more in common than i originally thought (and i already thought they were pretty similar!!)

they both have the scarves and the 'pin' attached to them in the same location, also kay is wearing pink and has green eyes while floragato is 'wearing' green and has pink eyes and i think thats adorable <3

gummy cant afford therapy so marshall giving him a cactus to talk to has been extremely beneficial for his mental health

Tell us about your baby!: She's the testtube biological baby of Sir Hammerlock & Wainwright Jakobs (which basically means she could aim and shoot a pistol at the age of 4) and has 4 siblings (one of which is also an oc, but is an adoptive kid, and the rest are canon characters who got adopted). She has a big plushie collection (some knitted or sewn by Wainwright, some crocheted by Hammerlock, some being gifts from extended family or the Crimson raiders) and also fucked up eldritch powers beyond human comprehension bc her parents are abominations from beyond the veil (my Borderlands rewrite AU is a mess haha) which she primarily uses to teleport all over the house, causing an understandable amount of problems. Clay is her weird uncle and she loves him. She's kinda based off Wednesday Addams because autism. Also she is autistic, the nicest weirdgirl on Eden-6, swears an unusual amount for a 5 year old (being around Wainwright del Frisco Jakobs-Hammerlock will do that to you) and often swaps between her Edenian (space southern) and her Hermesian (space british) accents bc yknow. Just listen to her dads speak and you'll see.

sawyer hale is a kid who had a pretty hard knock life in a cyberpunk dystopia city. after deciding his dad kinda sucked, sawyer ran away and emancipated himself at 16 and moved into a different, nicer city and became a hermit for a while. afterwards, he proceeded to save the world twice; once he saved a cyberworld from the big bad capitalists and second he saved the universe from collapsing via terrible creature. as he goes through these adventures he learns how to be comfortable and happy with himself again.

also he destroyed his dad when he possessed a robot body. go kid!!

sawyer super loves tech but he gave it up for a while because Shitty Dad Ruining It For Him, but he eventually finds his passion again and makes phenomenal inventions. also he is the embodiment of Baby because all the adults around him want to scoop him up and carry him around for being a little issues boy with issues. they love singing and the arts in general, and they're very open-minded, which makes them a pretty good friend.

oh yeah all his adventures kinda messed up his biology so he's partially made of code now. and also has wings made of code. he can design them however he wants like retexturing game assets. YIPPIE!

watched the AAI turnabout teleportation stageplay and I've heard it was based on a scrapped case and I can definitely feel that, I was actually impressed how much I could see it in my head and now I'm a bit sad it's not an actual case

It was funny when Larry talked about the lunch money incident while staying true to the investigations rule of no actual phoenix mentions

also there was definitely some faraskye in there (ema was pretty much always one of the first ones to be concerned for kay, and they have a jumping high-five at the end)

My DM in my new campaign has us determine the luck factor of a lot of things like, say, guard patrol timing, or loose floor tiles, mood of someone we’re trying to bribe, etc, by asking us to roll a d6 or d12, and having chosen what the numbers will mean ahead of time.

So second meet, we go to a city where their local mine has accidentally cracked open a vein leading to the underdark, and Driders are pouring in to kill people. Locals get hired to semi suicide mission to seal up the mine cracks with magic stone making charges, knowing you’re paid a lot if you survive and your family is paid a lot if you die. Local captain of the guard isn’t a fan of this exactly and is like ‘if you can tell you’re not going to make it, just run. It’s not worth dying over.’ But he’s still stuck overseeing it. We help the locals. It’s a bloodbath. Despite our best efforts, in the like 60 seconds it takes to reach the main group when they’re attacked, all but 3 are killed. We save the rest. The forward guard rushes to close the holes and makes it, but three people fall into the underdark in the process, which is like an ‘I have been falling for six minutes’ death. My insane girl rock climbs several thousand feet because she has an ability to let her know one survived, finds him before he’s killed by the driders, and with help from the wild shaped spider Druid, gets him back up while chased by a swarm of drivers during a five minute free climb with a certain death fall, and they barely seal the hole.

Captain of the guard is super impressed with us and we get paid a lot. I come back after being paid to offer some of my cut to family of the deceased, and he refuses saying he’s already providing for them. We like him now so we ask his name. DM goes ‘uhhh’ *paper shuffle sound* ‘Okay so he was supposed to die in the mine so I didn’t name him. He’s uh. Jeff.’ Which as we all know is the most crucial mistake a DM can make.

So Jeff™️ we are now obsessed with for, largely, being named Jeff in a high fantasy setting.

We shower and rest. Spirit medium party member starts sensing a guy being tortured to death and then resurrected and tortured to death and resurrected on repeat. We haul ass. Guards ask for ID to get into the rich side of town. Jeff gave us a badge so we could collect our pay so we flash that. We find a high mage’s house and break in, find like four mages in the basement and a guard, torturing this guy. We initiate combat. Leader teleports away with prisoner, two others are killed, one by the medium, one suicide fireballs himself. We keep the last alive. The guard also lives, but my girl starts turnabout-is-fair-play very not chill beating him up to get where they took the prisoner. The guards come. We grab the last guy, kill the guard, run. I’m in the rear and fail the athletics to get out before seen by the guards by one, so he says ‘Okay so one guard sees you. Roll a d12 to see how much he cares bc-‘ other player goes ‘is it Jeff?’ Bc this is just how we are now. DM goes ‘it /really/ shouldn’t be bc he was at the mines four hours ago but okay. Roll a one and it’s-‘ I roll a natural one.

Group chat goes ballistic with shouts of “Jeff!!”

DM goes ‘Lol okay. You run by and just as you leave, Jeff enters. You lock eyes. He gives you a ‘?’ Look but gives you the benefit of the doubt and says nothing, as he saw you act very altruistically earlier.’ - I go ‘I mouth “Soooorrryy” as I go’
