Clone wars hc

Been lurking on tumblr for a bit (while) and decided to throw my own clone wars hc cause the hyperfixation be hyper fixated (sorry for any spelling errors).

Kit Fisto and Obi-Wan are bffs - They both lose their robes and seem to flirt with anything that walks. meaning they have get togethers and give each other flirting advice.

Jocasta Nu and Admrial Yularen are BAMF, and are severly underrated. you don't get away with hurting someone they care about unpunished.

Rex's first thought of ashoka was "that's a child" followed by "that's a child on a battle field" and then "that's a child on a battle field with no clothes, what the kark".

One of the shinies from Monnk's battalion definitely asked Fisto (while high on pain meds) if he lactates and monnk and fisto lost their shit and couldn't stop laughing for 5 min straight.

Kix (and other medics by default) have tranq/hypo guns for any vode or jedi that try to leave med bay when on bed rest.

Fox and Amidala gossip and constantly talks shit about Palpatine

Kit Fisto Smile Supremacy, this man win's best smile, it never fails to cheer someone up.

Rex definitely twirls his guns before putting them in his holsters when he's done using them

Bly is obviously in love with Aayla, and he tries to hide it (and fails miserably) but he's so respectful about loving her and swooning, that Quinlan couldn't even give him a shovel talk.

the clones were absolutely baffled when they met the jedi's

Wolffe and Fox are twins, they might be at each others throats 90% of the time, but if you talk shit about the one of them, the other won't hesitate to beat your ass.

Monnk says the most off handed shit in a dead pan tone (ex. Monnk: well I'm not gonna live, laugh, love this. Fisto, laughing his ass off: I-I'm Sorry? Monnk: I'm just saying this is gonna be a bitch)

Plo Koon is Plo Buir, He's at least adopted the Wolf Pack and Ashoka

The Iron Battalion/13th battalion took one look at Cal and immediately adopted him

Ponds isn't dead (cause fuck canon), he found Boba before his schemes could go off and made him a deal, He helps Boba plan the assassination attempts on Windu (he trust his general won't die, but he gave him more headaches) so there's no casualties, but slowly the attempts stop and now Boba just lives in the 91st venator's vents.

The first time Cody picked up Obi-Wan's lightsaber he thought it was so cool, and now he just wants to glue the damn thing into his hand

Hound spoils Grizzer, he absolutely adores the massif

Jesse make sure Kix is actually taking care of himself, and make sure he's not over working (and when necessary, he uses a hypo to make sure Kix sleeps, cause Kix will hold that over his head and pay him back for it)

Fox and Thorn are opposites but they are really close

The corrie guard has a list of all the good and bad senators

The most forms that Monnk and Cody (and occasionally Ponds) fill out are forms for more robes

Cody's name is Kote (but goes by Cody cause so many nat borns mispronounce it) and Obi-Wan randomly asked if that was his name, and Cody was just utterly shocked

A trooper (let's call him Sharks) from Fisto and Monnk's battalion can just get a group of sharks to gather around, at every planet, every time, without fail

Plo's disappointed dad sigh can make a separatist army fold into defeat

Kenobi absolutely loathes caf, he hates it with a passion

Each high ranking clone officer has to deal with something of their jedi - Cody has to deal with Kenobi flirting with seperatist and losing his lightsaber, Rex has to deal with his general constantly crashing ships, his batshit crazy plans and his general continuously using the force to throw him, Monnk has to deal with his general randomly "shedding" clothes, and all the clones have to deal with their generals and commanders not wearing armor (Except for Jaro Tapal, HE'S THE ONLY ONE WHO WEARS ARMOR)

Corrie Guard can sleep standing up, very useful when guarding in the pods during senate meetings

The nice Senators (mainly Chuichi, Amidala, and Organa) and Vos very often get things for the Coruscant Guards, and whenever the guard see's the gifts they are baffled and bamboozled

Rex called dibs on Domino squad after the moon mission

Echo and Fives without hesitation took Tup and Dogma under their wing

Fives, Hardcase and Jesse started a prank war in the 501st that accidently evolved into a GAR wide prank war (with Coruscant being neutral ground, cause the guard doesn't need to deal with that shit, doesn't mean they don't help out)

Fox holds ALL the blackmail, and has multiple informants in every battalion, plus he has the power to withhold caf shipments

Fox also regularly reads his batchmates mission reports to mae sure their ok

The Corrie guard accidently adopted a stray tooka and a loth cat, now they're the guards emotional support animals

Rex keeps complaining about his brothers flirting with their jedi's that he didn't even realized that he third wheeled between Anakin and Padme that he joined their relationship

every mothers or fathers day without fail, shaak ti and plo koon always gets presents and gifts from their children (troopers and cadets.... and ashoka)

Coric is Kix's Ori'vod, he didn't admit it at first but Kix grew on him and well medics stay togeth

Coric purposely avoided being CMO of the 501st because they are hellions, Kix wanted to strangle him after he realized what being CMO of the 501st meant

Rex was on the 212th with Cody when Anakin was still a padawan

Rex hates evals, natural blonde plus Kamino is a recipe for hell. Also he was shocked at Skywalker being nonchalant about his hair, Anakin just though it made him cooler

“[N/n] let's play roblox, I'll let you borrow mama's phone later for you to be able to read, for now play roblox with me.” Your sister tries to persuade you, even going to the lengths of letting your borrow the phone later as a bargain just to quote o' quote, play with her.

"Hm.. Alright, but make sure to let me borrow mama's phone. Or else.." You reluctantly opened the second computer as you placed your mother's phone on the side, while waiting for the desktop to load, you engaged in a conversation with your sister on what games to play.

"We can play Evade or Shoot out if you want, we can also play the games you play, uhh.. Arsenal? Was it?" Your sister habitually tilt her head in an insure manner, you hummed in confirmation at her question.

Despite the talk that you and your sister had made, you both weren't able to play roblox because you noticed the time and remembered that you have yet to finish your commissions and quests. So after setting up your recording software and opening up your preferred browser (Opera GX y'all), you launched Genshin and waited for it to finish loading.

"Oh by the way, have you read kunichigo's latest post? It was so good and underrated, like damn." Your sister squealed in delights as she proceeds on controlling her chosen character, Zhongli.

"Ah, you mean 'Cherry Red Lips?' and 'Terrible, Terrible.' if you mean those two, I did. But on the 'Cherry Red Lips?', she said she's inexperienced with those types but she narrated it sooo good! Like the way Kaeya shamelessly raised his voice to let everyone outside their beloved creator's chamber know that he's being pleasured by her is soooo— Aghhhh! It's so juicy! Like imagine if Aether really is withering and shaking underneath us while we suck on their blood? DAMN! I'd kill to see such sight under me! And don't get me started about Kaeya, that man is a walking menace! But that's one of his hot traits! Like— like just imagineee!" You fangirled while controlling Razor, running and teleporting around mondstadt doing commisions.

"Right?! It's just ashame that the author didn't make a detailed scene about Diluc withering and panting under his beloved creator's touch! But Lisa's scene was so lit, despite being written so short. But man, Aether's really well narrated, the author made it clear that he's a babygirl." Your sister added, fangirling as much as you do. The both of you continued on squealing as you played Genshin together, having fun and making it clear that whatever is the "story" you two were talking about, is what made your day better.

Unbeknownst to the both of you, the oh so said characters are listening to your conversations. My oh my, what in teyvat did they just listen on to?

In the land of teyvat, Zhongli cannot believe what just reached his ears. Did he hear it right, are their ears working right? Did they hear it correct?

Much to Diluc's dismay, the conversation about the story that you both read did not end with just Kaeya and Aether being mentioned cause it seems like he was too, in the story. The mentioned characters can't help but feel blood rushing to their face, ears and neck due to either embarrassment or whatever human emotion you are supposed to feel in such situation, even those who weren't mentioned were flustered at the topic of their creators, despite this, they aren't sure whether to pity the others or to get jealous cause they're the topics of the beloved creators, nonetheless, they still feel the second-hand embarrassment for the others.

Meanwhile back in the Serenitea Pot, Xiao, Tighnari and Ayato looked at Diluc who's face is crimson as his hair, attempting to have the floor of the abode swallow him alive. He doesn't know whether to be thankful for kuni- or whoever the author of the story is for not writing a detailed scenario of him or he'll probably ask the Geo Archon to have the floor swallow him on the spot.

Kaeya who's sitting just right beside Diluc, laughed at his semi-miserable state, and honestly speaking, Kaeya is tad bit embarrassed but he'd be lying if he said that he denied that he's proud of how the author wrote him. Chongyun who has been silent for the whole time, almost choked on his ice cream if it weren't for Heizou and Thoma helping him unclog the small piece of popsicle on his esophagus.

Zhongli, who's being possessed by one of the creator and who's listening on the conversation from the very beginning, did not know how to react. Razor, who's beside the Geo Archon is quite confuse and worried, was the traveler, cavalry captain and librarian of knights of favonius sick or in pain? Poor boy doesn't really understand his creator and their sister is talking about, if the said people are sick then why are his beloved creator, squealing? Is there something he's missing?

Needless to say, it was an eventful day for both the vision holders and the creators. The boys are just thanking the archons that the girls aren't in presence and are having a peaceful picnic somewhere in Sumeru, or else they wouldn't be able to handle the embarrassment, much less, face nor confront them.

Hello :D first of all, I love your Tumblr blog and writing, your posts about Smoker make me feel butterflies in my tummy. (Yeah, he deserves more love, he's such an underrated character and husband material, so I'm really happy to read all your writing about him ✨) Sorry for not sending a request or leaving a comment sooner (I was nervous because I don't speak italian, my native language is spanish, and I'm insecure about my english knowlege 🙏) I'm so excited to see blogs like yours, Smoker is my favorite One Piece character and let's say he was my unexpected fictional crush from the series haha. Jealousy -> he isn't the kind of person that demonstrates openly how jealous he is towards you when someone else gives you attention (there will not be jealousy dramas), but he'll look at the other person with a deadly look from distance. He is jealous of you, more than you could imagine, he can't think of you in someone else's arms.

Sleeping together -> He loves when you use his chest as a pillow (and you love poking and squeezing his boobies too, let's say that), with his arms caressing your back when you fall asleep on him. He doesn't move a muscle when you nap, even though he grunts as he starts to feel his arms getting dizzy from the uncomfortable position due to your weight on him. He snores when he sleeps (sorry for that) and can be a quite heavy sleeper when it's with you (the opposite happens when he has a mission and must be alert).

Protection -> do you remember Smoker saying "you ain't laying a finger on my soldiers!" when he fights pirates? Well, he's protective towards you as well, but hundred times as much! Nobody could harm you when you are with him, if someone does, that person would be torn apart within minutes.

Cuddles -> he doesn't demonstrate his love in public, and Smoker blushes a lot trying to stay calm when you try to do mushy stuff with him in front of people. But, when you two are alone, he loves cuddling you whenever he has the opportunity. The thing he loves the most is hugging you from behind and placing his chin over your head as he does so, it happens almost whenever you are in the kitchen cooking or just brushing your teeth in the bathroom.

Cooking -> Smoker is not the best cook in the couple, he tried a lot of times and with a huge effort trying to impress you but he ended up throwing away a lot of pans since they were almost burnt or too difficult to clean after he finished. Once he gave you the only edible meal he cooked and he thought you were joking as you told him that it was quite good.

Living together -> Smoker never thought he could enjoy living with someone else this much. Since you two moved in together, he started to do everything with you, most of all because his work schedule it's quite strict and he tries to spend time with you as much as possible in your shared house. He's quite an organized person, if you thought he might be messy with clothes you're wrong: it's mostly the times he reproaches you for not putting your things in order (he's a marine after all, what did you expect?)

Going out -> He loves taking you out to play pool with him. He can't help but chuckle seeing you try your best and lose against him. When you make mistakes missing the balls with the billiard clues Smoker laughs a bit, but just because he can use this opportunity as his advance, placing his hands on your waist trying to teach you how to play properly (of course most of the time you pretend you can't play to make him approach you).

Intimate moments -> He's intense, for real. He won't let you leave the bedroom until he satisfies every desire of yours (it's him that insists to do that, not you). He loves your body and kisses every inch of you before using his mouth to make you see stars. Smoker adores you when you ride him taking the lead since he's accustomed to giving orders in his job, it's like a kind of role reversal to him. He can be a little bit rough at times in bed, grabbing you by your thighs and leaving small bites on your neck, but he won't ever push you beyond your limits. Smoker also loves when you ask him to spank your butt since he can't take his hands off of it. He has a slightly praising kink and loves telling you how good you are at taking him all inside of you.

Smoking -> he doesn't smoke around you when you are pregnant as doesn't smoke around his children since his family is the top priority to him, but since his kids want to be with their dad all the time he's quite stressed about abstinence from smoke.

Protection -> Good luck to everyone who tries to harm his children, no one could ever think about such a thing, and when the idea of someone harming his children comes into Smoker's mind, he can't help but think about all the things he would do to make these people pay in the most atrocious ways.

Boy or girl? -> He wants a girl, definitely, but he'll be hella protective towards her when she starts growing up. He'll treat her like her little princess and bring her on his shoulder every time he can. Smoker can't resist but give her all she wants, even when he knows he shouldn't spoil her but he can't say no to his little princess.

Cherishes your body -> There's no need to be insecure about your body after giving birth since he'll love every curve of yours during and after pregnancy: every pound you gained in the 9 months is a pound more for him to love. Your stretchmarks are just a sign of you bringing to this world his child. He doesn't care if your body changed after the birth of your babies, this is just another reason to make you feel appreciated more than before since he can't see you sad about it and won't ever let it happen.

Finds time to stay with you -> Probably it won't be easy for you two to find time for yourself when you both have children to take care of and he's away in marine missions for days. But when you finally find a little bit of time to spend alone with Smoker it's like when you were just married, snuggling in bed as he gives you all the attention he can to the person he loves the most.

Playtime -> Smoker tries to find time to play with them, which can be kinda difficult at times because of his job. His children love pranking him while he's busy or distracted. Smoker sighs and puts on a (fake) grunt on his face as this happens and then starts chasing them playfully all over the house. They love pretending to be pirates escaping from the big marine that is their father, Smoker plays along but he's kinda worried when he sees his children enjoying this game, he hopes with all his heart that his kids won't ever become pirates.

When the kids grow up -> He teaches them the difference between what's right and what's simple, which can be difficult since he has seen so many people taking the wrong way in life, but he tries to not push them about it since he knows he'll probably get the opposite reaction from them. He loves his children so much and is a little bit scared of them growing up, Smoker wants the best for them.

Desperate Housewives

I started watching it a couple weeks ago finished it in the spring and I love one (1) republican. I am now slowly thrifting all of the seasons on DVD

My mom watched it when it first aired and I never sat down and joined her but I remember catching glimpses. As an adult I knew I would love it before I even started and I was right! It has WOMEN. It’s outrageous. It’s hilarious. It’s addicting. The theme song is glorious!! Almost every episode title is a reference to a Sondheim song!!! It has (mostly) aged surprisingly well. And in general it just reminds me of a time before streaming when TV was…different. Idk how to put it into words but first of all, remember when shows had 20+ episodes per season? Never forget what they took from us.

Glee

IYKYK. Any “old” songs I know I know because of either Glee or Rockband. Jayma Mays was my awakening. It introduced me to Rocky Horror and many other musicals. It got me into media literacy/critique and was the first show that I anticipated every single week and the first show I gave up on before it ended. I could go on for ages but you just had to be there (my tumblr from 2012-2015).

Passions

I watched this with my mom as a little kid and am slowly rewatching now. Soap operas are a staple on her side of the family and Passions is the only one I ever got into, because I was like 4 and there was ✨magic✨. As an adult I’m not even really into fantasy but in this case it works for me bc it’s so balls to the wall insane. I definitely don’t think I could get into it today if it weren’t for the childhood nostalgia. It ran for almost 10 years, which is not long considering some soaps are still kicking after 50 or 60. But at 2,231 episodes it’s a LOT if you’re not used to the slow pacing of the soap opera format. It’s so special to me though. I have cat and baby names picked out bc of characters on this show. AND THE THEME SONG!!

Soap

My all time fave. For 10 years I have run the only tumblr blog dedicated to Soap. It’s hilarious and touching and was ahead of its time. Susan Harris is a genius. Fleabag falling in love with a priest? Susan Harris did it first. That lady on Days of Our Lives being possessed? Susan Harris did it first. Who shot JR? Susan Harris did it first. The Golden Girls sitting at a table eating dessert and talking about sex? Susan Harris did that but she also did it BEFORE SHE DID IT. I’ve rewatched this show so many times and there are still scenes that make me laugh out loud. I would die for Jessica Tate. Bury me with the boxset.

That Girl

Just started watching this (in real time, not a year ago) and it’s just so fun!! Marlo Thomas is a cutie. Her wardrobe is unreal. I’ve laughed out loud quite a few times. She has great chemistry with the leading man whose actor’s name I shan’t bother to look up. I feel like I started watching it at the perfect time in my life too.

Trial & Error

Came for Jayma, stayed for everything. Last year I watched Arrested Development for the first time and if you like that show I think you’ll like Trial & Error. Mockumentary style, wacky characters, great running gags. It was gone too soon and I’m still waiting for a season 2 DVD release.

Out of the Box

Here’s a throwback bc who am I if I don’t put a kids show on the list? I loved this show when I was little. It’s so underrated. I showed it to my current babysitting kids when I first started watching them and they love it too :,) Watching it as an adult makes me so emotional idk why. It warms my heart. If I were to ever become a preschool teacher I would make the babies sing the ending song at their graduation and make their parents cryyyy. If you have little guys in your life you should show it to them. It’s on Disney + (eewwww) but there might be episodes on youtube too.

Instead of blabbing about an 8th show here are some runner ups that I’ve enjoyed over the years, some of which I think are v underrated: Tuca & Bertie, Girlfriends, Mum (BBC, not to be confused with Mom, which I also enjoy), Fleabag, Go On, Jane the Virgin, Wonderfalls, Masters of Sex (might be due for a rewatch of that one), The Fosters (fuck them kids tho), Pushing Daisies, One Mississippi

How do you find new books to read? Most people I ask say booktok, which sorry if I'm wrong but I assumed you wouldn't use, and I haven't had good results from trying booktok.

no i don't use booktok or tiktok in general. in fact, i have a very old man yells at cloud attitude towards it lol. i do watch lots of booktube tho and get some recs from there, however it's important to remember: many people are hyping up a book >> probably not a good rec🙅‍♀️ "if so many people like it i might like it too" that's the fomo devil talking! one booktuber is swearing by a book you have never heard of and gushing about it in their every other video >> probably a good rec👍that's how i came across the aurelian cycle and the winnowing flame. idk maybe it works on booktok the same way if you follow the right people but. i don't trust that app😅

other recs i get from my trusted mutuals on tumblr bc these are people who enjoy the same type of sophisticated literature as i do so when one of them mentions they read and liked a book my interest is peaked. when they constantly mention it it has the same effect as when your mutual reblogs three gifsets of a show - now you just have to watch it bc you know from previous experience you will likely enjoy it. i think i first heard of doctrine of labyrinths in worldhoppers' underrated fantasy video but it would've sat on my goodreads tbr forlornly till the end of time had i not found out that it's popular with the lymond crowd - no rec is more reliable than that😌

finally, good book recs tend to come from obscure rec lists i perused on tumblr or on goodreads or on some old-fashioned book blog several years ago, added them to my tbr and then forgot. but bc i like to update my tbr regularly i go through the 1000+ books i have on goodreads each year in order to decide if i want to move them up my priority list and inevitably discover some hidden gems i scavenged this way back when i was getting back into reading. for example, i found the dreamhealers series and the memoirs of lady trent on the aroace characters database and i found nino cipri's litenverse on one of the numerous queer sff rec lists here on tumblr.

generally tho there is no perfect source of book recs that works all the time. understanding your own tastes and choosing books accordingly is a skill you develop by trial and error and no matter how good you get at curating your reading many books you pick up will likely disappoint you nonetheless🤷‍♀️

8. How often do you reblog/comment on fics that you like? I comment on maybe half the fics I read? I have a rule of thumb that if it made me feel something I comment, so even if it's just a short 'enjoyed this !!' I think it's the nice thing to do when you appreciate someone's work. Especially in smaller fandoms like BoB, I know I appreciate all the comments, from the one-sentence ones to the paragraphs :)

Tag 3 fic writers you think are underrated/unknown in the fandom/fanfiction community. @blood-mocha-latte deserves all the love on 'nine hundred and fifty years before' and everyone should be reading that... I love it and all of rie's work so much @heystovepipeboys because they just posted something new and also I really enjoyed the fic they wrote for the Heavy Artillery Exchange :)) Also gonna shout your fic out (roaroftheninth on ao3) because I am Always thinking about your space AU and I am also going to finish 'the only kind of savior' soon... 19. Do you edit your fics after you write them, or do you prefer to just hit post and run (because it’s someone else’s problem now)? Mix of both! I try to sit down and write without editing, but usually after I write for a while I'll go back and change the most glaring errors. Then eventually I go through a fic as a whole and read it and try to edit and make everything flow and make sure there's a semblance of continuity.

this is such a dumb question, but how did you start your blog? like, how do you even put yourself out there?

this isn't a dumb question at all!

this isn't my first blog, i actually had another where i posted stranger things content/fics. i had the tumblr acc for a while to read fics and i decided i wanted to post my own so i literally just sat down and wrote a steve x eddie fic (we don't talk about it) and posted it. and then later that night i made a masterlist which took me forever to figure out.

honestly, i recommend just looking at other people's blogs for inspo and figuring out how you wanna organize your blog, like for me, in particular, i have my navigation, various custom tags i use, request rules, and a masterlist. none of these things are required at all but definitely help just get everything in order.

for beginners, i recommend navigation and a masterlist at the very least. it doesn't have to be fancy or anything like that because the great thing about tumblr posts is that you can edit them so you can change them up as many times as you want.

my first masterlist was super simple it literally just had masterlist as the title and the name of the fic and the link. it doesn't need to be fancy or anything it just needs to be functional.

i initially didn't have a navigation and it wasn't like awful to the point where everything was falling apart but having one definitely helps. you can put all your links to your important posts like the masterlist and explain a little about you (optional) and you can even put your request rules on the navigation. (personally, i like using a different post so my nav isn't super cluttered!)

custom tags aren't needed but they keep all your stuff in one place. like for example i wrote/write for wednesday and death note on this account. i don't write for wednesday anymore so trying to find all my wednesday fics would mean a lot of scrolling but if i just look up the tag i correlated with all wednesday fics they're all in one place now.

if you're just starting out you might not wanna take requests because they can be overwhelming. when i first started writing for wednesday it was a super popular show i think it came out like 3 or 4 days before i started writing and i got like 10 requests the first day and was super bombarded. but if you do take requests, rules are a great thing to have, you know things you wont write and anything else you want to be included when someone is requesting like for example "when you're requesting, please specify what gender and/or pronouns" but to be honest not a lot of people read these, so its a 50/50 thing and can always be added later if you decide you want that. (same goes for everything else)

but when you're putting content out there it's important to tag correctly so that your post gets seen, especially if the fandom is small or not super popular at the moment.

Hi hello !! 💗 Thank you, I have been well but just very absent because of work and since I didn't have time to watch much I didn't want to be spoiled so I kind of avoided Tumblr 🫣

I just got some free time so I finally watched The Sign which was very good ! I love that we are finally getting more shows outside of high-school or uni romances. I also finished My Personal Weatherman just yesterday and I enjoyed it, it's not the most healthy dynamic but the actors did a great job and the chemistry was immaculate. Next I think I'll either watch Our dating Sim or I'll finally tackle Pit Babe 🫠

As for kbls my two favorites are probably Semantic Error and Long Time No See 🥰 For underrated shows, I would say Old Fashion Cupcake which I loved even though it's really short, I feel like I don't see people mention it enough and even when it came out it wasn't everywhere as I thought it would be.

feels like this is really easy--some people enjoy studying the humanities, so why shouldn’t they? the same reason people study the arts, or pure mathematics (cf. the discussion ‘round these parts lately about how transfinite numbers probably have no practical application and never will just bc reality doesn’t deal in mega-infinities)

but hedonism aside, there are instrumental reasons to want to study, say, history. if you want to formulate, say, robust economic models that work across many different times and places, maybe you want to incorporate historical data. and to do that you need to collect and sort through that data, and to do that you need to understand your sources, and it will really help if you don’t have to reinvent the wheel when it comes to basic historical methodology every single time. and that you’re not vulnerable to the field-specific equivalent of insane conspiracy theories because your knowledge of history is paper-thin.

and i think people really underrate the extent to which maintaining useful knowledge about some areas requires, like. continually refreshing that knowledge? it’s not enough to have it sitting in books somewhere. i remember stumbling across a discussion on new translations of the medieval scholastics a little while back (I probably linked it on tumblr?), where the translators had made some pretty basic and glaring errors because scholastic latin in a particularly difficult and finicky register of the language, and the state of latin education had decayed terribly in most of the english-speaking world because it’s regarded as unimportant. and like, sure, maybe it is. maybe not enough people want to be able to read the scholastic writers anymore to make it worth it. but this is clearly an instance where having knowledge of the latin language just sitting in books isn’t enough--people need to be trained in it, and trained pretty comprehensively, or we lose the ability to read certain authors.

and (to run with the history example) as the ability to read those authors falls off, because knowledge of the sources and the languages they’re written in falls off, our ability to double-check our theories and judgements against primary sources is also lost, and in the extreme case eventually we’re reduced to a game of telephone where we’re relying on secondhand interpretations of secondhand interpretations. that’s a terrible way to do any kind of systematic inquiry, not just history! imagine trying to write about the themes of jane austen or what you think jane austen’s political opinions were or what the culture and social climate of early 19th century Britain was like without being able to, y’know. read jane austen, or any other texts produced in Britain from ~1750-1850.

now, there’s a separate question which i think sometimes gets conflated with “why should we study the humanities,” which is “why should there be humanities gen ed requirements for people who are majoring in something totally different like STEM,” to which i would say, this is (AFAICT) principally a north american thing. in the (english-speaking, anyway) universities of Europe, if you study law or medicine or physics, every class you take is relevant to the course of study you were admitted for. though i don’t think that produces markedly better or worse education outcomes. i liked it better (it meant i didn’t have to take any math classes as an English major), but it doesn’t seem to produce notably better or worse educational outcomes. (the thing which I think American universities should more directly emulate is not making law and medical school postgraduate courses of study--you can get both a law degree and a medical degree as an undergraduate in Ireland and the UK, without wasting four years farting around in a “pre-law” course or whatever)

the underlying educational philosophy is something like intellectual well-roundedness, which is a virtue so far as we can cultivate it deliberately--if you have a little interdisciplinary knowledge you are perhaps less likely as a physicist to come up with dogshit stupid ideas like “languages lose phonemes the further they get from africa,” because you know the polynesian languages are an extreme outlier that is going to fuck up your data set; or as an economist you are less likely to get your models of past societies wrong because you subscribe to some weird theory of history that was disproven to the satisfaction of most historians fifty years ago.

it is kind of funny how every time we have discourse about the humanities, a large slice of this site will come out and tacitly endorse the opinion that everyone who didn't go to college is not a complete or interesting person

what're ur fave BLS of the year so far?

Looks like it's that time of the year? As gif-makers and content creators here in Tumblr BL some of us are in charge of recapping our favorite BL's this year. So far I need 10 but I only have 5 that I truly loved this year.

Kinnporsche

It's no surprise why this is number one. I watched it while I had COVID and also during long COVID and grew attached with the cast during post-show. It's probably one of the first time's I've seen a BL go full-on with production and plot. I was hooked with everything Kinnporsche during the middle of the year and even planned saving some money for their fan-meet when they went here. Truly, a star studded cast and an amazing plot that builds up for another season.

2. Blueming

Now this was something else. Never had I ever had a BL encapsulate what I was currently feeling like Blueming. The feeling of feeling lost and having to leave the past self despite being a part of you after all these years. Blueming spoke to me because I was feeling the same things that the plot was currently revolving. The feeling of finding one's self, one's comfort with others and one's acceptance of past selves. Love Blueming and can't wait for season two.

3. Semantic Error

Shameless self promo for my own gifs. Semantic Error was something sweet and not as intense as the last two that I really enjoyed. One of the BL's that I know that dips into the romantic BL's but not much of emphasis on others. I love Jaechan and Seoham. Post-show and airing I was always so fond of those two. Kinda sad that Park Seoham didn't have a chance to promote it all the way with Jaechan due to military enlistment. Regardless, I love this short sweet series and I love the chemistry between the two actors.

4. Old Fashion Cupcake

Here's what I never thought I could forget in BL settings. Middle aged men! I can't believe no one has come up with this but here it is and it is beautiful. Aging and never having to bask in the glory of experiencing things, especially "feminine" things, and finding it towards the love of your fellow co-worker. OFC is heartwarming and it shows that even in later ages we can experiences loneliness in matters that are not limited within love.

5. Triage

Here's the most underrated of them all. The reason being that AISPLAY (the company who is distributing this series) is barring it from international audiences and only allowing it to be viewed 2 days after it is aired. Then the channel deletes the video. Thus, making it hard to watch legally. It's a shame that this isn't as well gif-ed or talked about in the community. It's about a doctor who constantly tries to save his patient and falls in love with him as he tries to find ways to save his life. It's criminal how underrated this is. But, if you're not the kind to watch one hour episodes 12 times then I suppose just look at the gifs here at Tumblr. I hope they redistribute this somewhere accessible for everyone in the future.

Overall, there were alot of BL's this year. And currently they're still pumping out more. But as many as they currently are, I have to give props to these five for having an amazing story, cast and production.

After tinkering all day on this artwork, I am FINALLY DONE.

Yesterday night in the server, there was a much pleasant chitchat about Bayek of Siwa and what a MAGNIFICENT HUSBAND and AWESOME ASSASSIN HIDDEN ONE HE WAS, and, IMHO, truly an underrated character that deserves so much more.

(Ok, I might be biased because, despite my obsession with Syndicate, Origins still is my favourite, both because of Bayek himself and the whole setting that it's just beautiful. Still. Bayek deserves SO MUCH MORE!!)

So, I spent the majority of the day painting and experimenting and practicing and I have to be honest, I had quite fun! (and it was most relaxing, I have to say, because I worked with a reference photo of my IRL husband's darling face because damn it if he doesn't look like Bayek, and each stroke of the brush felt like I was caressing his cheek! 💗).

I still have much to learn in that regards to painting and whatnot, most of the time I try to go with what "feels" right, so it's a lot of trial and error, but I have to be honest, even when the results are not 100% what I want, despite my effort, I always end up loving them! <3

It's good practice, and I am confident that, if I keep working on it, eventually I will reach what my brain envisions! 😂

So, because I couldn't choose between one or the other, I decided to show you both the grayscale version AND the coloured one! <3

Just like what you said, their relationship is so unique in a way that I literally don't know how to describe— I haven't seen anything like it before and it's actually very interesting! I love angst, and it also has a lot of angst potential, but also a lot of fluff potential<3 (like that one Tumblr post about Ink painting on Error's bones and it's so cute!)

Also FINALLY SOMEONE AGREES WITH ME WITH THE STAR SANSES!!! They're so underrated sometimes I love them more than NMs gang because they're just so silly together!! BUT MY MAIN QUESTION IS WHY OUTER ISN'T IN THE STAR SANSES— LIKE HE'S LITERALLY *THE* STAR SANS!! (Outer is so underrated, but not entirely! He's like popular when he's mentioned, but I don't see that many content for the au itself)

I also don't understand how people could hate ink! (Not tryna be biased!) Like, he's just trying to protect the AUs in his own way. (Not really counting underverse since Comyet said that Underverse Ink is not Canon Ink) He's trying to literally inspire creators!! He would literally like sort of stop existing if he doesn't do his job—

i’m going to tell this to you right now if you ever want to get to know ink as a character do not go to underverse. i love it so so much, but underverse is not canon to him at all and isn’t good to get to know ink in the way he actually is in his canon. so instead im going to blab at you for a while

a lot of people tend to fanonize him as ‘emotionless who doesn’t care about anyone and i’m EVIL’ which is also not him at all, and definitely skews peoples' perspective on him. emotionless ink could never be canon, as ink without his vials turns into what comyet described as a 'husk', unable to function or do anything, much less evil apathetic activities.

the concept of emotionless ink can work with individual stories, but the fandom really messes things up with how they portray him. (all art used here is by comyet and either explicitly canon to ink, or dubiously/half-canon)

literally look at him. that is the face of someone who is not pure evil.

this isn't the fault of the people who write him that way btw, but rather the fandom for being unable to tell the difference between fanon and canon sometimes. anyway, ink appeal:

i, and many other people, enjoy him because the way he acts is very similar to people with autism/adhd. being rude without intending to be so, hyperactive, memory issues, struggles with empathy, social situations, and connection to others, xyz. even little tidbits, like losing his pencils a lot, can be reminiscent of people with poor object permanence often caused by adhd or other disorders (me fr). aaaand, their adhd is actually canon!! he's not intentionally an asshole he's just neurodivergent and cannot read a room for shit!!

for that reason, he's used for neurodivergent people to project onto him. also because his canon story is unique in a way never seen before, just. ever. he expanded the idea of the multiverse in a way that helped allow other people to build on it. so in a way, we owe a lot of the utmv to ink (or comyet for coming up with the idea of him in the first place). i highly recommend you read the comic! it's on comyet's tumblr page, or dubbed on youtube by a few people.

also, to those who say he's completely faking his feelings, what do you think his vials are for? he canonically experiences grief and other strong emotions, even if they're not the same way others’ feelings are. booyah stop making him an asshole i beg i just want one piece of content where ink isnt evil im pleading

^^^^ ink after one of his father figures dies. he tries to cope by saying it's in the script for his au, something ink has sworn himself to protect, despite his grief. he's coping :(

a lot of other people also enjoy ink because of their moral greyness and their priorities being rather interesting. and before you think 'oh thats just underverse': no it is not! ink's priorities are keeping aus on script and protecting them rather than the lives of individual people, however acknowledges them more as people if they're aware of the multiverse (such as his father figures, zephyr and top). otherwise, he views people as characters. ink does not harm people for the sake of harming them, they avoid fighting and would not be abusive or antagonistic for the sake of being an antagonist.

this is actually what influenced the god headcanon, a headcanon where ink is the god of creativity (often paired with error as the god of destruction), as many people interpret this distanced behavior as similar to gods in many media.

his dynamic with other characters is also really interesting, and how he intertwines in their stories. despite none of it being canon to him, he's used in many other stories and he's moldable to each of them. he's canon to dream, while dream isn't canon to him. same with cross! (ok i lied its not all comyet, this art is by jakei (left) showcasing ink in underverse) mind you, this is not canon to ink, only cross/dream respectively. comyet seems fine with this though, and is friends with jakei, creator of underverse (im unsure about joku). ink is a flexible character!

the way he impacts stories that, on his part, aren't canon to him is unique and something generally unseen in other fandoms. even though he and error have never canonically met in either of their stories, their dynamic is so multiversal that regardless of the story, or their relationship in it, 99% of the time their tales are intertwined. the idea that two characters have impacted each other so much despite never canonically being aware of each other, much less meeting, is so appealing. comyet actually made non-canon art of them as friends :)

this is why people who hate errorink for the sole sake of "they hate each other in canon" are incorrect and wrong. comyet also drew ship art of them forever ago which i appreciate so much thank you for the food

ink also has two canon (adoptive) father figures!! i love that for him!! they’re one of very few sanses with two parents. they are the silliest of guys. he's killer but with better morals because he isn't a murderer (its ok i love killer too he can change its all nightmare's fault pls believe me)

also he's french. imaginez être français. épouvantable. /joke (he is french tho)

also, he's canonically he/they and aroace! this is why you see many more qpr headcanons for him than other characters, though some people interpret him in other ways. though he's not non-binary (referred to as a male by comyet several times, even in the same sentence stating his pronouns), just flexible with pronouns, many people also headcanon him to be non-binary or otherwise trans.

overall, i think his appeal comes from how unique he is, how the fandom has expanded upon and used him in so many different ways, and generally his relatability to many neurodivergent people, me included. i love u ink sans.
