#tucker is heads over heels for wash

Note
If Tucker can't handle hand kisses, do you think Wash can't handle it when Tucker says he loves him for the first time? Like action speaks louder, but the confirmation from Tucker, the idea of him being lovable makes Wash's heart soar. I like to think that Wash is more prone to do Tucker's whims if he asks because Wash is high on the fuzzy feeling he's experiencing.
Oh, definitely. Wash is a sappy, love sick puppy anytime Tucker says or does something that blatantly proves the love and affection he has for Wash.
He doesn’t even need to say ‘I love you’ necessarily because there are a million ways to say it and Tucker knows a lot of them:
“I know you didn’t eat yet, so I brought you food.”
“I know you like these, so I got a bunch.”
“I thought of you when I saw this.”
“I’m always going to come for you.”
“Even when I’m pissed at you, I want you to stay.”
Etc. Etc.
Wash isn’t used to being known by someone, nevermind being loved for it, so when Tucker shows just how much he loves every part of Wash, even if it drives him up the wall, Wash might get just a little shaky after.
And Tucker doesn’t really think about it since it’s such second nature to him. It’s not a big deal to him to know random facts about Wash that were only mentioned once or finish a task that Wash forgot because he’s hyperfocused on something else. It’s just what a good partner does. (Plus, he’s more interested in getting Wash flustered from his flirting than his proclamations of love).
That being said, Wash is much more likely to listen to Tucker (specifically times when he’s hurt and refuses to go to the med bay) after getting a casual confession of devotion like that. But more often than not, he just ends up staring at Tucker with this absolutely besotted look.
The reds make fun of him for it sometimes. Tucker thinks it's cute whenever he catches him staring.

Call to my Bedside - 3
Part 1:
When Maddie wakes up with chains around her wrists and a pounding her head, she is surprised to see her family in front of her.
As she blinks in the darkness, ignoring the way her eyes won’t focus, her surprise gradually washes into fast-paced terror.
It’s not just her family in front of her, but also her children’s friends. Her son’s friends.
But her son is nowhere to be seen. Amongst the grime and dinge of the space, there is no unruly mass of black hair.
She counts again. 1, 2-
1, 2,-
Her son exists as a group of three to her.
Jazzy, Jack, and Danny.
Tucker Foley, Sam Manson, and Danny.
But- she counts again.
1, 2-  1, 2-
Her son is not here. Danny is not here.
Her family is injured, Jazz and Jack in one cell and the kids in another, her in yet one more, and her son is missing.
Maddie tries to remember what happened, why she is injured, where they are, why-
There were people, she had fought them, all black clothes and blades, Jazz had come downstairs at the sound, Jack had defended her, Maddie watched them both go down under a blow, the distraction enough- Danny had never come home from school.
Her husband starts to rouse, a low groan.
“Jack.” She whispers harshly, “Jack!”
“Maddie-kins?” Jack mumbles, trying to push himself upright but stumbling when he realizes his hands are bound together by manacles.
His are not chained to the wall like her own, but they are still heavy steel.
“I’m here Jack, I’m alright,” She can see him turn to her in the dim light, “Banged up, but alright.”
Indignant anger flashes across her husband’s face, “Who did this? What happened-those people!” Jack increasingly gets louder, “The ninja people! They got past our ghost barrier-!”
“They’re not ghosts, hun,” Maddie cuts in, making him look over.
Some of his righteous exuberance fades, “Then why..?”
Maddie shakes her head, immediately regretting it, headache increasing as she tries to talk, “I don’t know. But Jack, Danny’s not here, I don’t know where he is, but he never came home, something’s wrong-“
“Danno!” Jack yells, looking frantically over the group through the bars between them.
Finally, his volume seems to rouse the others. Sam and Tucker both wake with a lurch, Jazz soon on their heels with a groan.
“Danny!” Sam yells, looking around them, “They got Danny!”
“And my tech!” Tucker yells, hands patting himself down.
Sam glares at him, “That’s what you’re worrying about?!”
“What, like having a satellite capable PDA wouldn’t be helpful right now!? Danny told us to run, you’re the one who made us stay-!”
“We weren’t gonna leave him-“
“Oh well look at us now, we’re not doing much better than-“
“Kids!” Maddie yells, and their heads snap over to her, “What are you talking about? Where’s Danny?”
For some reason they both seem to glance at Jazz before answering, receiving a hesitant nod.
Sam started, “We don’t know where he is now, but we were walking home and something exploded-“
“We thought it was just another ghost attack!” Tucker cut in, looking increasingly distressed, “But then Danny was fighting off these freaky ninja people, and telling us to run-“
“But we couldn’t just leave him there! We tried to help-
“There were so many, and they grabbed us and then we saw them grab Danny and…-“ Tucker stopped, looking down at the chains on his wrists, “And then we woke up here…Mrs.Fenton, where are we?”
“I don’t know, hun,” Maddie looked at her son’s friend, then to her own daughter, her husband, “But we’ll figure it out. And then we’re going to find Danny.”
Jack beamed at her, his trust in her confidence shining through.
She wished she believed it even half as much.
——
The first time they come, a group of five people, still dressed in black, weapons lining their body, Maddie yells and shouts. Demands they tell her where Danny is. They are silent.
They methodically go to each of their cells in pairs, one pointing a gun and the other setting down a bag of food. Military rations.
She screams and yells the entire time.
When they go to Maddie’s cell last, removing one arm from her shackles so she can eat, she takes advantage, lashing out with a yell and just as much anger as vicious desperation.
She punches the one nearest, a sloppy front kick displacing the other’s gun pointed at her.
Before she can attack again, one arm still pulled back to the wall behind her, the click of a safety coming off silences her.
The rest of the chapter is thru Ao3, cuz Tumblr says its too long. *^*

He groaned when he got up from the table, pointedly ignoring the way Sarah teased him at the sound. Tutting to himself at her you can do it old man and carrying the plates to your kitchen with a proud, above-it-all expression.
“You should help clear the dishes, instead of teasin’ your old man.” He finally called back, unable to stay silent. You laugh quietly with her, conspirators, giggles mixed with the clinks of dishes and utensils hitting the sink.
Tucker’s collar jingles as he walks over to Sarah where she sits at your dining table, no doubt begging for scraps now that he knows the meal is over. Her attention turns to him while yours goes back to Joel, admiring the outline of him standing over your sink. He’d put on a nicer t-shirt, one that showed the strong lines of his back, one that made it incredibly hard to keep your hands off him.
“After I finish clearing the table, is it okay if I take Tucker for a walk?” Her voice pulled your attention from him, “Would that be okay?” She’d said the magic word. Tucker’s tail was waving wildly, practically jumping in place.
“Of course, don’t worry about the dishes–I can take care of it. He might keep you out there longer than you’re planning on being though.” You laugh at his impatience.
“Oh that’s okay!” She hands you the dishes in her hands and heads toward the door, the dog hot on her heels and within a few very fidgety moments she manages to get him leashed and out the door.
“Be careful!” Joel calls out from the kitchen, his eyes fixed on her through the window above the sink.
“She’ll be fine.” You slide in beside him, stacking more dishes. He notices the closeness, and the solitude then, a rare moment alone since this whole thing started and he’s quick to seize it. Big hands land on your hips and you sigh, leaning back to feel the bulk of him pressed against you tight.
“Think we got time?” His voice is sinful in your ear, his lips press soft kisses to your shoulders and it’s everything you’d been daydreaming about since the moment you opened your eyes that morning. The feel of him surrounding you, the citrusy smell of his body wash, the soft clean laundry scent of his clothes.
“I think so.” You turn your head to the side, bracing your hands against the counter to push the swell of your ass against his groin. He moans low, a firm grip on your hips so he can grind against you in the sunny, quiet kitchen.
“Better be quick then.” he pulls away momentarily and your pulse is racing, hurriedly pulling up your skirt, listening for the clink of his belt and the sound of the zipper. “Good christ woman–” He breathes the words out before turning your face for a misaligned kiss, one palm sliding up to hold onto the weight of your breast before it slips down towards where you’re already dripping for him. “I’m so fuckin’ hard for you it hurts.” His tongue is as obscene as his words, one hand sliding into your panties to cup your pussy while the other keeps a firm hold onto the column of your neck.
He held you there, your noses touching, breaths shared while his fingers slipped between the lips of your sex. You made to look down but he only held you tighter, a delicious pressure that made you gasp.
“Stay there, I wanna look at your pretty face.” His eyes took in everything, the almost pained expression, the shaky exhale when he dipped into the mouth of your cunt to wet his fingers in your arousal. “Already wet for me, you been thinkin’ about this?” He nudged your nose with his as his fingers circled the plump little berry of your clit.
“God yes–” You watched his lips, standing almost on your tip toes as his fingers kept up their dizzying rhythm. “Thought about you fucking me all day.” You stick your tongue out, licking at his top lip for a moment before he crashes his mouth to yours. He licks into it while his fingers slip back down, slipping two inside, easing the growing ache of emptiness.
“Joel–” You moan, trying to focus on your words, “Baby, we don’t have much time, stick it in me already.” He lets out a breath and it’s almost a laugh, he pulls his fingers away and sticks them into his mouth.
“So goddamn sweet.” He says it mostly to himself, moving quick to pull his cock out. You hurry to spread your legs when he taps his foot against yours, leaning against the counter to brace yourself. The anticipation is almost too much, the seconds between the switch more akin to hours, days.
You wiggle your ass against him for a moment and he laughs, one hand holding a fistful of your dress while the other wrenches down your panties, that same hand landing a solid crack on your ass before you feel the hardness of him swiping through your folds.
His first thrust is brutal, it knocks the air out of your lungs.
“Oh fuck baby–” He groans, almost pained, pulling you up to meet the solid wall of his chest. “Gonna make me come so fast.” His breath at your neck makes a shiver run down your spine, drawing out more of your slick to coat him, enough to drip out around him and onto your thighs.
“Do it, come inside me.” Your hand travels up and around to hold onto the back of his head, threading through the soft waves of his hair and he lets out a pleasurable hiss when you hold onto a fist full of it.
“Not before you soak me.” He lets go of your dress to pull one side of your neckline down with one hand, while the other slides down and around to find your clit. They work in tandem, one plucking and massaging your breast while the other circles your clit with breathtaking precision. He’s a well-oiled machine and he pushes you towards your release without mercy.
It crashes into you with a force that makes you lock up around him.
“There we fuckin’ go.” He speeds up, the wet sounds of your joining filling the kitchen for a moment before he squeezes you tight, grinding himself as deep as he can get, filling you to the brim just how he likes.
He waits for a moment, breathing hard, pressing kisses to your neck, pulling the other breast out because he's never satisfied with just one. You can feel the evidence of his climax inside but it’s done nothing to calm him, if anything it’s made him more feral for you. His teeth bite at your shoulder, his hands wander from your breasts to your hips, to the globes of your ass.
“Good Christ woman, I could just eat you up.” He turns your head again to kiss you as best he can, “You know that?” He’s looking at you strangely, almost confused. Pensive.
“You okay?” You scratch at his scalp, you know he’s somewhere else but the look is gone in a flash and he's smiling once more.
“Better than okay, annoyed because I can’t throw you on the bed and clean you up with my tongue but–” He hisses when he pulls out, moving quick to find something to clean you both up, “There’s always time for that later.”
“Oh there better be, I’m not done with you yet either.” You turn towards him after, wrapping your arms around his neck to kiss him properly. He smiles after, burying his face in your neck, laughing when you squeal from his facial hair.
By the time Sarah comes home, you’re both presentable, but the looks linger and you know he’s watching the time, counting down the hours until she’s in bed and you can both continue where you left off.

Catching Cold, rest of the start
wc: 800, Masterpost cw: bad parents Jack and Maddie, dissociation
It kept being weird.
Sam kept asking him questions about Phantom and what his mom had said. When he escaped outside, just to get away from her frowning at him, Tucker stuck to his heels, refusing to leave him alone. Danny pretended to sleep just to avoid Tucker’s worried looks.
“How was school, honey?” Maddie asked as soon as Danny stepped in the door, like she had been waiting for him to get home. It was weird to actually be greeted when he got home.
Everything was weird, weird, weird.
“Um, good. I’m tired though, so I’m just going to go…” he motioned up towards his bedroom.
Her brows furrowed and she frowned like something had annoyed her, then she swept it all away with a forced smile. “Go change something to sleep in. I’ll bring up some medication and some fudge, okay honey?”
“Okay Mom,” Danny agreed.
The green, ghost patterned pajama pants were soft… comfortable, but Danny felt off as he scrubbed his palms over them. It was like he’d woken up to a world where everything had been moved two inches to the left and felt wrong.
“Take this,” his mom said when she came into the room. She had a test tube filled with noxious blue in one hand and a little plate of fudge in the other. She set the fudge down on the side table. “And then you can have some fudge and rest.”
She reached out, sweeping her gloved hand through his hair. The thick rubber felt sticky and impersonal. When was the last time he had felt his mom’s skin?
“Okay Mom,” Danny forced out again, swallowing back the sudden feeling of tears in the back of his throat.
As soon as Maddie left the room, Danny got up and poured the medication down the bathroom drain. He watched as the bright blue swirled against the white sink, washed away by the water. He didn’t know why he did that. It was medication, right? Mom had given him it. He wanted to feel better.
But looking at the viscous medication had made him feel sick.
Mom had said to…
“Danny honey, you okay?”
“Yeah Mom, just getting a drink of water,” Danny called out. The lie came easily.
Why was it so easy to lie to her?
It was weird.
It was all weird.
His dad hovered around him that evening, ectoblaster strapped to his leg. His mom gave him more medicine. This one he couldn’t dump out. He took it. It made him feel like his insides were melting away. Not, like, his stomach, but something in the thick of his chest.
He couldn’t find his phone still.
Tucker kept checking on him at school.
Sam kept asking about Phantom.
Jack hovered.
Maddie gave him medication.
His insides burned.
It was weird.
He needed to… he needed to…
The class bell rang, a sharp sound that cut across Danny’s lack of focus. Last period Chemistry and Danny remembered none of it.
He shoved his books in his battered purple backpack and left quickly. Tucker had Biology instead, a class that Danny couldn’t stomach the thought of, so Danny was alone in the hallway. His feet carried him away from where their lockers were, heading out the back door of the building instead. He dodged Dash and his football cronies, head down.
He just had to keep walking.
The old sports shack loomed, tucked behind the row of temporary classroom buildings that had been around since before Danny had been in school. His hands knew just how to jiggle the lock to pop it open. Dust bloomed as he shoved aside mostly broken hockey sticks, deflated basketballs, and old volleyball netting.
There was a duffel bag under it all. Several, actually, but one was just the wrong shade of blue. The dirt was a little too even. The strap looked strong and new. Danny grabbed it.
That spot in his chest thudded— an aching pain that almost made him topple over. It wasn’t just weird it was wrong.
Wrong, wrong, wrong.
By the time that Danny came back to himself he was walking past rows of corn taller than he was. Dusk was setting in. He raised his arm as bright headlights flashed behind him, almost blinding him. The hiss of brakes were loud and then a window rolled down.
“You okay kid? You need a ride?”
Danny blinked up and up to the driver leaning over in the semi truck cab. Their face was lined and tanned from hours driving into the sun, but their eyes looked kind. Kind and worried.
Maybe they should be worried about him.
Everything was wrong.
Danny swallowed back the bile that was burning at his throat. “Um, yeah. Yeah. A ride sounds good. Wherever you’re headed.”

Silk from their soul (25)
The Ghoul / Cooper Howard x f!reader [no use of y/n]
Rated: E (Cooper needs a primer on consent but it's all good, oral (m receiving), forced orgasms (literally)) Words: 2.4k Summary: Truths
Series Masterlist My Masterlist
Tumblr media
Your feet hurt but you refuse to stop.
It’s been hours since you left Nero’s compound, hours of walking without interruption. Cooper’s still there, you can hear his boots on the ground, but he’s been uncharacteristically quiet.
Good. You’ve got a lot to think about.
Your hands had been steady when you’d ended Galen’s life - but now your whole body seemed to be vibrating. Adrenalin? Shock? It was anybody’s guess, all you knew was that your heart was beating so hard you felt you might burst.
He was dead.
No more experiments. No more games. No more watching women who looked just like you being sold off to the highest bidder.
No more.
You don’t know what you’re supposed to do.
Oh, you know where you’re going. There’s unfinished business to be taken care of. But after that… well, it was complicated now.
“Hate to interrupt a snit, sweetheart, but where exactly are we headed to?”
You don’t falter your stride when you answer, “The facility.”
“The facility,” he hums thoughtfully. “The one that made you?”
“Yes.”
“We gonna find any trouble when we get there?”
You pause and he catches up, looking at you from under the brim of his hat. “Maybe? I don’t think so though. Unless Galen removed me from the security systems.”
“Robots? Lasers? Automated mech suits?”
You give him a rueful look, “Yes.”
“Sounds like a party.”
A snort of laughter bubbles up and you see his grin turn into a warm smile. “You ready to stop for the day or you gonna march that pretty ass all the way there?”
Looking around you spot a partially collapsed building in the distance, “We can stop I guess.”
“Good, ‘cause I got an inkling we need to talk.”
Well shit.
The building is concrete so most of it survived whatever happened in these parts. There’s a wall with a gaping hole, but that looks like it was a roll up door someone has stolen for scrap. Cooper crouches once you’re inside, digging in his pack and eyeing the ground for kindling.
“I’ll get some stuff for the fire,” you offer quickly.
“That’s not necessary, you’re tuckered out. Have a seat.”
“No really I-”
“Sit.”
You do immediately, legs folding under you and hitting the ground with a soft oomph. Cooper eyes you thoughtfully.
“Take your pack off.”
You shrug out of it, setting it to the side and giving him a wary look. He purses his lips and then you see a mischievous light enter his eyes.
“Come.”
The word has many meanings but his tone leaves no doubt which one he intends. Your eyes roll back as the pleasure washes over you. You barely notice when you fall backwards, hitting your head on a small rock but you don’t care. You call his name and suddenly he’s there, leaning over you, his face centimeters from your own.
“Well I’ll be,” he grins down at you, “can’t say that won’t come in handy.”
Your breaths are still shuddering pants when you manage to open your eyes fully, his face coming into focus. He flinches at the fear in them and immediately sits back on his heels.
“Don’t look at me like I’m a monster, darlin’, there’s a host of worse things I could have told you to do.”
You shift away from him, sitting up so you can look him straight on. “And will you?”
His face falls at the question and he bites off a curse. “Sit there and let me fix us some supper, we need to have a talk.” A second later he adds, “That’s not an order.”
The constriction in your chest relaxes and you watch him work, getting the fire going and spearing a couple of pieces of meat to roast. He opens a can of beans and offers it to you and you accept, still side-eyeing him.
“So I reckon you and I need to have a discussion,” he says carefully, “about what precisely is going on here between you and I.”
“I think you figured it out.” You’re sulking, and you know it shows in your tone.
“Maybe I have, but I’d like to hear it from the horse’s mouth, as it were.”
“My sisters and I, we were made to be the perfect partner. Beautiful, loyal, obedient… once we’ve imprinted that’s it.”
“And you’ve ‘imprinted’ on me?” You nod and he cocks his head, “When we kissed, I reckon?”
Another nod, “It’s not as simple as touching mouths, there has to be a… connection I guess? But it’s not hard to get someone to slip, to respond for just a moment.”
“And is that what it was?” He looks hurt. “Just a moment?”
“No, I knew… I knew I didn’t have a choice. If I didn’t want it to be Nero it had to be someone else.”
Cooper huffs a short laugh, “And you got stuck with me.” Before you can say anything he pokes a stick in the fire, glaring into it and saying, “Well I won’t make you stick around. Ain’t got no use for a hanger-on anyway.”
You know he’s lashing out but it still hurts. “I don’t have a choice, if we’re apart too long I’ll… I guess wither is the right word. Eventually I’ll die.”
His eyes shoot to yours. “Loyal, eh?”
“The perfect partner.” You stare at your hands, turning the can to avoid looking at him. “Can I ask you a question?”
“Shoot.”
“Why didn’t you take me in when you found me? You were after the bounty, why’d we go so far out of the way?”
He’s quiet now too, the only sound a distant animal howling. Eventually he sighs. “That was the plan, alright, but then… I dunno. Things changed.”
“Changed how?”
“You did, sweetheart.” With one hand he sweeps his hat off, setting it on the ground near him and pulling his gloves to lay near it. “You acted like I was a still a man and I… well I can’t say I didn’t like it.” You purse your lips, waiting, and after another long pause he continues. “What do you want me to say? I got a soft spot for ya.”
“I seem to remember being drugged and tied up not too long ago,” you point out.
“Well, that was after you ran away from me,” he returns with sardonic look. “Can’t fault a fella for getting a bug up his ass.”
You try to hide you laugh but it slips through and he gives you an answering smile.
“So,” you say, “if I hadn’t run…”
“Wouldn’t have had to chase you down.”
He makes it sound so reasonable. “And we… I mean, would there have been a we, an us even?”
“The thought did cross my mind.”
You sigh. “Maybe I should have talked to you. I just… I saw the poster and I got so scared.”
“Don’t blame ya. Hell, felt like I was carrying a damn grenade in my pack the whole time.”
“Why didn’t you get rid of it?”
He pauses, frowning at the fire. “Didn’t occur to me.”
You let the silence settle again, feeling out your own emotions and letting him do the same. For a moment it feels like you’re back in that small bunk, the night he’d told you his real name and held you like you were precious.
“Cooper?” He startles at the sound of his name, eyes flying to yours. “I like you. I probably shouldn’t, given everything that’s happened, but I do. And if I had to imprint on someone, I’m glad it’s you.”
“You sure about that sweetheart?” he asks, hesitation wreathing every syllable. “I can’t say I’m a good man, barely even a man anymore. And knowing you gotta do anything I say… it gives a fella ideas.”
You stare at the small fire. “Would you tell me to hurt myself?”
He seems genuinely shocked by the question. “Of course not.”
“Tell me to fuck other men?”
His face gets downright scary as he snarls, “No one else is touching you.”
“It’s terrifying,” you admit, “just knowing that you could tell me to do anything and I would have to do it. I feel it here, in my chest, I can’t not. Even… even the theoretically good things. I’m worried.”
“You worried I’ll force you to do something you don’t want?”
“I’m worried you won’t even realize.”
You refuse to lift your eyes to see his reaction. It’s silent in the small room, save the crackling of the fire. After a long pause you hear a heavy sigh. “Get over-” he trips on the words and rephrases, “Will you come over here?”
A choice.
Giving him a wide smile you slide his direction, slipping under the arm he holds up and tucking yourself into his side. He offers you a skewer and you bite into the crisp flesh while he does the same.
“I ain’t ever made a woman do something she don’t want in bed, I ain’t about to start now.” He says after a moment. “How ‘bout this? I ever tell you to do something you don’t want you say barbed wire. That work for ya?”
It’s a safety hatch, of sorts, and requires a lot of trust. Still... you did trust him. Maybe it was idiotic but you trusted him with your life already… maybe you could trust him with your body too.
“Is that for all the time, or just… you know?”
He grins, settling his hand on your knee. “Well, I reckon you can use it just about whenever, but I gotta be honest I had some bedroom activities in mind that that little gift of your might prove useful for.”
God you love this playful side of him. “Oh? Like what?”
The hand moves to your thigh, sliding up and under the hem of your dress. “Well I’ve been thinking a few things. Things like, can I just tell you not to gag?”
A flush rips through your body and you’re immediately so turned on you can’t see straight. You’re still wet from your orgasm and you moan when his fingers press to the outside of your panties.
“You like that idea? I got a few more.” He pets you gently then twists the fabric away so he can press two fingers inside you. “Been wondering if I can order you to relax this pretty little ass and let me slide right in there. Maybe see how many times I can make you come in a row. Get my cock all the way down your throat and facefuck you til you got my cum dripping out of you.”
You nod, fingers gripping his wrist. “Yes.”
“Yes to which one, darling?” He’s leering down, his tongue startling pink against his rough lips. “I’m going to need you to be clear, I don’t want no repeats of a bit ago.”
“Can I-” a soft moan interrupts as he crooks his fingers inside you, “Can I suck on you?”
“Ah darlin’,” he purrs, “anytime you want.”
Hands pull at his belt, both yours and his, and he helps you maneuver between his legs. You hadn’t actually seen him before, and he’s as scarred here as he is everywhere else.
“Does it hurt?” You ask softly, running a finger down his length. He lets out a hiss between his teeth and you jerk your hand back. Just as quick his fingers grip your wrist and pull you back, encouraging you to wrap your fingers around him.
“You feel like silk, darlin’, why don’t you get that pretty mouth down here too?”
You kiss him in response, then lower your head to press a kiss to the tip of his cock. He grunts, one hand coming up to grip the back of your neck. You slide him between your lips, cradling him on your tongue as you bob your head forward. When he hits the back of your tongue you gag, pulling back slightly and blinking up at him.
“Ah darlin’.” He pets your cheek and then says sternly, “Don’t gag.”
You feel the compulsion shiver through you and you push forward once more, feeling him slip further with ease. When he hits your throat there’s a moment of discomfort but a quick, “Don’t choke neither,” from him smooths the way. Your nose presses to his stomach, your mouth full of his heat.
A rough groan rends the air and you glance up to see his head thrown back, his throat working. You suck softly and pull back, feel him slide along your tongue, then take him completely once more.
“I can see why you were worth so much to that fucker.” You let your teeth graze him and he grunts, meeting your glare with a lop-sided smile. “It was a compliment.”
You hum and pull back further, waiting until his hand catches your neck and he stops you.
“Now now, no need for that,” he chides, “why don’t you let me fuck this gorgeous mouth and when I say so we both come. That alright by you?”
A moan vibrates out of you and you lick around the head of his cock. He must take that as a yes because he interlocks his fingers behind your head and pushes forward until he’s deep in your throat once more. It feels strange, but there’s no discomfort. Just the hard length of him moving past your lips.
You love it.
You love hearing him groan and grunt. Hear his breathing speed up and his boots scrape on the floor. Feel his fingers dig into your skin.
“Can I come in your mouth?” he pants and you nod, your healing should take care of it and if not, there was always the Rad-Away. “Fuck,” he grits out, “fuck fuck-”
He’s so deep you almost don’t taste it, salty and burning hot in the back of your throat. It’s sour, but you don’t mind, you can’t get enough of how he holds you to him while he comes.
And then he remembers.
“Come for me.”
It’s instant. Relief and pleasure and sheer bliss rocketing through you. You suck on him harder and hear him curse, your own sharp cry muffled by the cock filling your mouth. He pushes you away, his hands on your shoulders and you blink up at him in a daze. With a sly grin he presses a thumb to your lower lip.
“Do it again.”
When you regain your sense of self - minutes, maybe hours later who even knows - he’s got his arms wrapped around you and a smug smile on his face.
“Now darlin’, I reckon we’re going to have a hell of a lot of fun with that.”

i'm watching rvb11 again so here's a running list of everything i love about this season
contact, my beloved
a nice recap intro for anyone who is new (why...) or got lost in the sauce during 9/10!
"i'm a cyborg, you wanna bow down to me?"
grif's bit about them always holding their weapons never fails to land for me
the way that tension is built throughout this season is so good. SO fucking good. this season is all the lighthearted BGC-ness that the show had been missing for a chunk of seasons and the way that the "something's not right here" gradually grows and grows is so fucking good.
specifically, we see locus for the first time at 31:10 (i'm watching the complete one on yt) listening to wash's mayday. at 34:30 sarge uses a sniper to scope out what the reds are doing; at 46:58 we see the blues through a sniper's scope again shortly before grif and sarge bust into the blues' conversation, and then sarge hops out of the warthog without a sniper rifle on him. it's not till 53:10 that we see locus again up on the cliffside.
d: can i get a heck yeah? s: hell no. d: close enough!
the dead body as the camera pans around the refueling station... chef kiss. what an introduction to locus.
felix's intro isn't as juicy as locus's but i love the way it comes right on the heels of locus murdering a dude over wanting to tell people about the crash -- of course someone else might have found out!
the way that wash is framed so ominously when he's fixing caboose's helmet is so great too; the cracked screens on the wall mimicking the room we first see him in in 6. fantastic.
felix's massively dramatic pearl-clutchy oscar-winning introduction to the reds getting utterly wasted on the two lopezes is SO GOOD especially in light of how hard he stroked his ego over his good acting
"you're going to want to sit down for this story, it's about 20 hours long and i only enjoy telling it in five-minute intervals" is one of my all-time favorite jokes in this entire series and i manage to always forget it's from this season
wash's apology to caboose for not being there for him (or tucker) is one of my favorite wash moments in this whole arc, if not my favorite. it's such a lovely and touching moment, and it also makes me all the more furious that epsilon a) came back at all and b) was a horrific dick to tucker in particular
felix and locus snapping at each other is, again, all the funnier When You Know because felix is so transparently enjoying "riling up" locus and locus's "shut up and be glad i missed your head" is so transparently genuine
g: holy shit, did you see that? c: NO! WHAT HAPPENED? PLEASE DESCRIBE IT TO ME.
the fucking orange juice gag
💛 aggressive, paranoid, and a little melodramatic 💛
the ongoing gag of everyone thinking they had someone to do with the crash is also so fucking good
"no, i'm a freelancer. NO, I MEAN, I'M A MERCENARY-"
again, When You Know: the implication that felix murdered the three people he came to the crash site with! delicious!
caboose's radio breaking in the middle of his speech is SO funny
"man, you are just cryptic"
ugh! ugh! the reconstruction theme coming back when wash changes his armor! gets me every time!
and with donut's line i'm immediately reminded of how fandom apparently chewed itself to pieces over thinking that wash is black/gold not steel/gold lol
(H4 wasn't kind to simmons either but w/e)
dos.0 attacking and felix immediately going "this isn't right" is, yet again, so transparent in hindsight
this is also a very fun and well-done machinima battle
rocket hog my beloved
pan across the canyon my beloved
reconstruction theme again! my beloved!
tucker's reaction to finding out that wash, sarge, and donut didn't make it is also so good. his character arc on chorus is Just So Good.
and so is kimball's intro with felix -- especially in how she exerts authority over him immediately ("you're not getting paid the full amount") and we see over time just how much felix has worked to make sure that she thinks that's what their relationship is
man. kimball. my beloved.
"you just need to try."
in conclusion: still my fave season of the chorus arc, probably

Josie is standing before Tucker's room dressed in nothing but her kevlar undersuit. Though she still has knives strapped to her thigh. She dosen’t like to feel defenseless in a warzone.
She's exhuasted after trying to take down Felix today.
She knocks, waiting for whatever happens next.
Tucker opens the door, in lose sweat pants. He looks her over and gives a low whistle, "damn Josie, visiting me in next to nothing late at night?"
She laughs, "Can I come in?"
"Yeah, sure."
He steps aside, and she walks in.
"Can't sleep?" Tucker asks, trying to figure out what she's doing here.
"Not really. You can't either."
"Sho says?"
"You're up, aren't you?" She gives him a soft smile, the real one she hides from people because she thinks it's dorky and stupid.
Tucker is struck by just how genuine she's become around him. The others too, but she is genuine around him.
His whole persona is being a play boy! And she trusts him.
He snorts, "guess I am, sweet cheeks."
She laughs this time. She likes that name, from him at least. If someone else called her that she'd tell them off. But for whatever reason, when Tucker calls her that it makes her happy.
It didn't used to, but somewhere along the lime she warmed up to it. Maybe it's because she warmed up to him.
Josie sits herself in his bed, leaning back on her hands as she looks at him.
"Thanks, for stepping up." She says.
Tucker blinks, taken aback by both the words and the image of her on his bed.
"Uh- sure thing. Someone had to."
"I appreciate it though, Tucker. I'm glad I'm not the only one leading."
"Yeah well... we make a good team, don't we?"
"Of course we do!" She tilts her head, thinking.
"What's on your mind, Josie?"
"I miss the others... It's weird to be away from Wash again."
"You really love him, huh?" Tucker asks.
And it hurts, knowing that Josie is hedlad over heels for the ex freelancer.
It hurts that Wash is so gone on her he dosen’t even look at anyone else.
But he's seen Wash and Josie together, they fit together better than anyone he's ever seen but Simmons and Grif.
"You do too." Josie says simply.
"What?"
"At the very least you like him. I'm not stupid, Tucker, you two have a thing."
"You're fucking with me. It's not fucking funny, Josie. Next you'll tell me you're interested in me."
"And what if I do? Would that be so awful?"
"Don't fuck with me." Tucker says, crosshis arms firmly.
"I'm not. Do you need me to lay it all out?"
"Might as well, since you're so sure how I feel."
Josie sighs, turning her gaze to the wall for a moment. But she looks back at Tucker. Her hair sways as she crosses her legs.
"You already know Wash and I have this- thing."
Tucker rolls his eyes. "Everyone knows."
"Wash and I aren't together, never have been. I know you have a thing for him, which, I totally get by the way."
"So what? Just because he's hot doesn't mean-"
"Tucker," Josie interrupts, "Don't bullshit me. I know you."
"Whatever."
Josie takes that as a win. She continues, "But more than that I have a thing for you. And I think you like me too. Or I would like to think you do."
"Wait- you're serious?"
"I've told lots of lies, Tucker. But I wouldn't lie about this. Not to you."
And Tucker nearly chokes. He knows she's lied. She faked her own death, created a new barley different identity, and kept her A.I hidden. She'd withheld info from Wash back when he was hunting them
Hell. Josie had even admitted to sneaking out as a teen.
But she sounds so earnest. And she hasn't ever lied outright to Tucker only kept things hidden to protect herself or others. But never outright lie.
"Fuck." Tucker manages.
"This is the part where you tell me of you have a thing for me or not."
"Are you kidding? Of course I do you dumb bitch."
"Women don't usually appreciate being called that." Josie says, smiling nonetheless. "But it's good to know how you feel."
"You don't expect me to fall into being your boyfriend do you?" Tucker asks.
And he doesn't know what answer he wants.
She laughs, shaking her head. "No, there's a lot of talking that should happen before we slap any real label on us. There's the whole "we like Wash" thing."
"Yeah. I guess."
"How about for now you just come sleep with me?"
"Bow chicka bow wow!"
She rolls her eyes, "You know what I meant."
"I can dream."
"You don't to, we can try that later. But for right now, come lay your ass down and sleep."
"Bossy."
"You like that."
"I really do." Tucker agrees.
He joins her on the bed. They lay down and curl under the blanket. He finds that he likes having her in his space aren't he falls asleep.
Tucker wakes up before Josie for the first time he can remember. He's sprawled across his bed, one arm around her.
She's curls up with her back to him. He wild curls spread haphazardly about them both.
She's still breathing slow and steady, dead to the world as he moves to sit up.
"Josie?" Tucker asks softly.
"Ngh?" She groans, stirring.
"Josie."
"Shhhh...."
"Josie wake up."
"No." She says, closing her eyes harder.
Tucker snorts. Struck by the way the artificial light highlights her scars.
Josie opens one eye and looks at him "mhh, mornin' Tucker."
"Morning, sweetcheeks."
"You're awful flirty."
"I just go after what I like."
"Good."
And she's sitting up, smiling again at him. She's done that a lot lately.
"You are a menace when you sleep. You tried to kick me."
"Sorry. I forgot about that."
Tucker just rolls his eyes. Of course she did. The menace.
His menace though.
Wait-
"I should go get ready. See you at breakfast?"
"Like I'd skip breakfast."
She just snorts as she stands up.
She grabs her knives she left on his nights and and heads out.
And this time, Tucker dosen’t feel any guilt for staring at her as she leaves.

A Champion Time For The Heart Ch22 To Hammerlocke Again
Tumblr media
Whelp. After all the craziness that was yesterday..You shouldn't have been surprised when you ended up sleeping in. After you had gotten back to your hotel room last night after the rain, you had yourself a quick hot shower, then quickly changed back and went to bed with the oncoming sounds of the storm still ongoing outside when you drifted off. Needless to say you slept like a log in deep slumber through the rest of the night and well into the morning. At one point you did half wake up and thought you heard music, but you almost instantly fell right back asleep still more tuckered out than a snorlax. By the time you did come too it was because Silver couldn't stand waiting around longer for food and had continuously shouted at you and patted your face until you were forced to get up to him frowning and chirping at you more and more.
Your tired f/c eyes blinked tiredly at him and you yawned before stretching the dusty blankets of the hotel falling off your body. "Ok Ok. I'm up."
The very first thing you did was trudge yourself back to the shower to wake yourself up and wash all the dust from the bed off of your body. The second thing was getting dressed and ready, making sure all of your belongings including your were packed away, and you pulled out some of your food rations for yourself. Handing off some of the strange jerky you had obtained from before to Silver as he literally wouldn't let go of your leg as he wrapped himself around it like a little kid as he did and shout at you until you did. Honestly, he acted more like a sobble than he did what a drizzlie was supposed to act like. When you looked out of the window you had noticed that it was still raining, not as much or hard as it was yesterday or last night, but it was still thundering with the stormy clouds and rain still hit the roof with apparently no end in sight. With a sigh you quickly made the bed(the hotel might've been abandoned but it would've still been rude of you to just leave a mess), you grabbed your bag flinging it over your left shoulder, and took off with Silver at your heels. As soon as you stepped out into the hallway you were greeted with a sight you weren't expecting. All three teens just standing there chatting away in the hallway but they looked up hearing your door open.
Gloria was the first to respond when she smiled and waved. "Y/n! Good mornin'! Ye finally woke up huh?"
You sighed walking towards the trio and nodding. "Yep. Silver here decided he wanted breakfast now."
"Silver?"
You gestured to the pokemon at your heels. "Thought it would've been better to give him a name. Silver Veil reminds me of the rain and he's a water type so it kinda stuck." You looked to Hop. "I don't suppose you're ready to battle Piers huh?"
"Aw cute name!!"
Hop looked nervous for a moment reaching up to rub his head. "Yeah about that. Sorry, Mate. But we already did battle Piers and won may I add."
.......You blinked at him. "HUH?!"
"We battled him earlier this morning," he repeated to your blank face. "We tried to wake ya, but you were asleep deader than a rock! Victor thought it'd be better to let you sleep and heal up from yesterday...Sorry about that."
"You already battled him?" He nodded. "Man...I hoped he put on a good show."
He then beamed making you smile in return. "YEAH! There was this cool trick he used using his skuntank's more stinkier attacks to keep Wooloo from going near him because it smelt so bad! And he was blasting this really loud music and singing and-"
"I think she gets it, Mate."
You chuckled before nodding towards the stairway down towards the exit. "What do you say then? Back to Hammerlocke again?"
They all agreed and with Silver tailing you all, you all went down the stairs into the abandoned lobby and like the night before when you opened the door rain is what greeted all four of you. Although you were right in that it wasn't as bad as last night. Sighing, you pulled the hood of your jacket over your head and headed on out into the world. Being daylight out now it was a lot clearer to see the streets wet from the water as you all headed out and into the rain. Most of you weren't really all that prepared from the rain after all. You clutched your backpack to yourself as you lead the charge with Silver at your heels(guess being a Water-Type meant he wasn't affected by the rain at all) Hop and Gloria shared shelter with Hop holding his jacket over the both of them to the best of his ability, and Victor just used his giant pack as a makeshift umbrella. As you all briskly walked down the streets, your group passed the gym. Glancing briefly over at it, you didn't see Piers at all on stage or in the Gym's area. Perhaps he went home? The four of you walked and walked down the streets and took twists and turns past the abandoned ice cream shop and down the streets you remembered back towards the exit. And not once did you all see Team Yell or Piers...Or that blasted wall. Guess Piers kept his word and had them fix everything you all were almost to the exit from the city of Spikemuth when you spotted a particular pink pokemon center and decided to take a dive through it's doors and you were surprised when it opened and what the inside contained. Just like the rest of Spikemuth the place looked pretty much abandoned except the place where Nurse Joy would usually stand, which was occupied by a Team Yell grunt which must've been this town's Nurse Joy. It didn't take much to convince both the guys to allow Nurse Joy to check over their pokemon as you thought it'd be better to do it now then to make them wait days and days before getting to Hammerlocke. It didn't take long at all, and soon you all left with some abandoned umbrellas Gloria had noticed someone had left to collect dust in a pot by the doorway. Hmm. Maybe you all should've bought umbrellas along with all your other supplies when you bought them? No matter now. You were already dreading the trip back to Hammerlocke for obvious reasons so you had better suck it up early. The small group left the town (which to Piers's credit was opened back up) and stopped in front of Spikemuth for Victor to quickly recheck his regional maps.
He pointed forward after a moment, "We need to go back straight ahead back onto Route Nine and then back onto Route Eight leading back to either Hammerlocke or Circhester, and then just take the road back to Hammerlocke.''
"Sounds like a plan. Let's get walking before the weather gets worse."
You all walked until it was too dark and still raining. You certainly had a hard time pitching the tents with Gloria and Hop trying to balance holding umbrella's over you and Victor as you all put up the tents. Getting practically soaked in the process...and even more soaked when Silver all soaked still wearing that sweater hoodie you got him, decided it'd be a good idea to flop himself inside the tent all wet from the rain. Safe to say you both had a harder time sleeping that night then the boys. Same thing the next morning trying to gather your things and put the tent away as it still rained, tho not as bad as before. The rain persisted for the next three and a half days as you all traveled. Having trouble setting up tents and staying dry during it all, silver certainly wasn't making it any easier on the lot of you. Thankfully by the middle of the fourth day the rain hand leaked the last of it's water and the clouds began rolling away. But you made sure to keep your umbrella put away and handy just in case. You'd definitely want to keep that in case you'd need it again. Continuing to walk through the forested areas you had come to known since before getting to Spikemuth, you were fairly certain that you were nearing the end of said forest as the days continued to pass by and you were pretty sure that any day now you all would come out the other end and see the Route Nine Tunnel, and the halfway point back to Hammerlocke ......Sigh. And Raihan. But you'll deal with him once you get there.....If the ground under all yours feet hadn't shaken like an earthquake. It all happened so suddenly. One moment you four were almost out of the woods, the next moment BOOM!! The ground shook under your feet and you all wobbled around, but it wasn't very strong. Only almost making you lose your balance. Overhead a couple bird like pokemon flew away in a real big hurry with caws of worry, Victor flung his arms about trying to stay balanced, and Hop instinctively grabbed Gloria in a protective hold gold eyes blow wide at his surroundings. But you somehow managed to remain on your feet, only Silver falling over onto his bum in the process. At the end in left the lot of you on edge and frantically looking around the forest you all were in.
"WHAT THE BLOODY RAPIDASH CRAP WAS THAT!?," Gloria cried out still clutching onto Hop wide eyed.
"I have absolutely no idea!," you answered back blinking and looking around with an uneasy feeling. "...But whatever it was it seems to be gone now." You straightened back up now giving a careful look around but didn't see anything out of the ordinary within the forested area. "...I say we keep going and get out this neck of the woods before it happens again."
"I second that!," Victor piped up.
The others quickly agreed too and without hesitation you all sped walked away from the area. Speculating what it was that happened back there. Earthquake not very likely. There would've been much more damage and panic from pokemon. Hop suggested perhaps it was a couple wild pokemon fighting or maybe someone having a battle nearby and that seemed more likely in your mind. After all how many times have you watched the Pokemon anime and the main characters just ran into someone while in the woods?? ...You lost count but def a lot of times. And you all couldn't have been the only people who ever traveled along here or caught pokemon in the wild. ...And you all DID run into someone. You all had traveled about one or two hours away from where you had first felt the earthquake or whatever it was, stopping to have a quick break and eating some food from your food rations before continuing, and then you ran into someone who was walking rather quickly in the opposite direction heading towards you all. The man seemed a bit spooked as he walked, but did catch notice of you all when Gloria gave a friendly passing wave.
"Mornin' to yas! Nice day ain't it?"
The man stopped as you approached before quickly shaking his head and pointing behind him. You were almost out of the forest at this point you reckoned. "H-Hey. N-No not really! There's some trouble on Route Nine! It's so b-bad even the Champion's come to sort it out!"
"Lee?", Hop perked up but then again you figured he'd pop up at any mention of his famous brother.
"Trouble?," you asked eyes widening at the man who nodded. Did it have something to do with the shaking earlier? "What kind of trouble?"
"T-T-There's a giant pokemon on a r-r-rampage down by the highway! .....Oh, hey! You gave Piers a good thrashing didn't you?," he asked pointing to Hop and Gloria seeming to recognize them. Huh. Did he see their battles against other gym leaders and figured you came from Spikemuth? "You should head over there to help! C'mon then!" Wait what?! "I'll show you the way?" He turned and pointed towards the place you all were heading anyways. "U-U-Up there b-by the Tunnel!! ...Heed my warning though! If you're s-s-smart you'll get out of here as fast as you can like I'm doing!"
"Wait what are- HEY!!" You nearly got knocked into Victor, he flinched, by the man who then in a hurry pushed past you and sped up his pace back towards the way you had just came from. You shooting a dirty look after his retreating form. "HEY!! SAY EXCUSE ME NEXT TIME BUDDY!!"
"LEE'S HERE!!"
Uh oh- Your head snapped to Hop and an arm instantly flung out to stop him but you barely missed him fingertips inches away from his jacket as he, as you expected, wide eyed and smile on his face took off up the road through the woods. "HOP COME BACK!!"
"WAIT FOR ME, MATE!!"
"GLORIA!!" It was the same song and dance between Victor and his twin as she slipped past his grab at her and too both of your horrors ran off right after her best friend. Both your faces paled and a rock sank in your stomach. OH NO!! There was a giant pokemon rampaging up ahead that was so bad even LEON had to be called out to stop it and those two were heading right towards it!! Victor growled holding his hands up like claws before sighing and looking towards you. "C'mon! We gotta stop those ninnies 'fore they dig 'emselves an early grave!!"
Well scottish accent intensified. But all jokes aside you totally agreed! Those two were going to get themselves turned into pancakes!! Without hesitation both of you RAN to catch up to the others. Up through the forested pathway the both of you ran, around one corner, straight ahead for a little while, and then around another corner and straight again with the tree line breaking before you to open grasslands- BOOM!! In a flash of red and another shaking you tripped. Just like when Milo's wooloo bowled you over, you fell face first onto the shaking ground and there you laid as Victor kept wobble-running not noticing you had fallen over. At least you didn't have to worry about further harming your shoulder. A VERY LOUD cry of some kind of animal roared out in the sky, dirt stuck under your nails as fingers curled into the ground, and you felt light as the shaking rattled the poor body further. It was like back in your dream when you were falling and heard the roar of Leon's charizard. But different...You might've not gotten up even as your body instinctively froze at the flashback of heights, if Silver had shouted as LOUDLY as his tiny lungs could into your ear. Disoriented you screamed in fright, throwing yourself away from the flashing images of the corvinight coming to take revenge...But blinked only seeing the greyish skin of Silver and then a flash of pink as he chirped loudly at you and slapped your face. A groan escaped you and you pushed yourself up and out of his reach of slapping. Head still spinning and everything still wobbling, you blinked towards the horizon. And far far in the distance if you squinted, you could see the Tunnel (even though it was more like a bridge-) and faintly the figure of Victor still running ahead.....!? And you scrambled after him. So even after you broke the tree line you ran....and ran....and ran. Your heart began to get to the point of pounding in your ears, and your lungs were starting to REALLY ache and burn but you didn't stop in a desperate attempt to catch up to the three teenagers who ran off in front of you. Head spinning and body aching, you were rapidly approaching the tunnel and was met with both an alarming and relieving sight that both alarmed and made you relax. Silver right behind you, you quickly started to come down from the adrenaline rush from the vast amount of distance and saw that there was a couple officers putting up a road block in front of the tunnel and not letting anyone through. Anyone being Victor, his sister, and Hop. That made you all relieved as you were sure they wouldn't be allowed near any danger, what made you ALARMED though was a car that looked absolutely RUINED from a crash with ten elephants was knocked off from the highway above the tunnel and was stationed crashed halfway down the hill!! What the world happened?! Was there a car crash!? It didn't look like there was any signs of anyone that was seriously hurt thank goodness. But that didn't answer your question as you slowed down to a walk approaching breathing heavily as your body felt as stable as a bowl of jello that got thrown off a skyscraper. Victor was shaking Hop by his jacket, scowling, and very angry and you could only catch the last sentence when you finally made it over to them.
"WHAT. WERE. YE. BLOODY. THINKIN'!?," He yelled at Hop scottish accent becoming more thick with each word he threw out at them. "Are ye tryin' ta give me a heart attack or somethin'!? Or do ya got a death wish!?"
"i'M SoRRy!!," Hop garbled out dizzy somewhere between the shaking. Between all the shaking you managed to slowly walk over and bluntly push your way between them making Victor let go of Hop as the dizzy purple haired boy stumbled back into the arms of Gloria who looked equally guilty as you took the chance to lean forward in an attempt to catch your breath. Breathing heavily and coughing as you attempted to get your heart rate to still. Behind you some where Silver flopped face first onto the ground out of exhaustion.
"What *gaaaasp* ....happ-p-p-pened!? *cough cough*", you demanded between gasps of air not even looking up.
"Y/n! This is mad....You know what I mean?," Hop asked back.
"What..... was;....*cough cough!!* t-t-t-that*gggaaaaasssssppp* loud noise?"
"That's what I'd like to know. That noise..It was like some massive explosion! There was this huge surge of red light and then wild pokemon just started dynamaxing around me brazon as you like!"
"One pokemon," Gloria corrected holding up a finger, "One pokemon dynamaxed. And it's on the other side of the tunnel!" She then gestured to the blocked off entrance currently occupied by at least seven officers who were laser focused on your group so close to the entrance. "They're not letting anyone through due to safety or somethin'."
"And it's a good thing they didn't!", Victor scolded, "You two are nuts you are!!"
You groaned. Tuning out the rest of their convo in order to focus on your breathing and trying to get the burning sensation out of your lungs as you stood there. Oh what you wouldn't give for a chair at this moment in time to sit down and rest your sore body for just a little while longer. You didn't notice the giant flying form of a charizard flying through the sky over head and coming down towards all of you...But Hop sure did. And Gloria and Victor as they looked up along with the police officers as whoever it was came down fast and if it wasn't for the tuning out you were doing you would have heard the landing. You only really noticed anything when Hop suddenly barreled (again-) away from the group making you yelp and blink to where he suddenly ran off too. And quickly understood why.
"LEON!!," He cried out with a giant smile on his face waving his arms, unfortunately he was stopped by the officer and portable gate barricade. Leaving him to wave an arm, call out to his brother, and lean left and right to try and get a view of his famous older brother. "OVER HERE!!"
The Champion who was just starting to walk towards the tunnel paused hearing his name being called and turned his golden eyes around. By now the other two had already joined Hop and slowly you brought up the rear groaning and stretching out your back. Of course seeing your little group, Leon instantly smiled and his direction changed from towards the barn towards you all.
"Hey everyone!," he greeted picking up his pace and stopping on the other side of the portable fencing in front of all of you. "Wow! Look at all of you! Haven't seen you all for a while. What's the lot of you doing all the way out here?"
"We're headin' ta Hammerlocke!" "We're here to help you take down that pokemon!" Hop and Gloria answered at the same time.
Leon blinked for a moment before smiling again and reaching over to delivery a small pat to Hop's head. "Ah! I see news always spreads faster than Charizard's wings. Thanks for coming but I've got a handle on this. Whatever's making that noise I'll see to it!" They both frowned at the gentle shot down for their help Leon gave them before he returned his hand to his hips. "But seeing as you're here on Route Nine on you're way to Hammerlocke, that can only mean one thing." He winked and pointed. "You all just finished defeating Piers, right?"
"Yep!," Gloria confirmed proudly crossing her arms, "No offense but we got this in the bag, Lee! And we can totally still help ya out too!" Hop eagerly nodded in agreement making Lee chuckle again.
"I'm sure you could, but now isn't the right time for that." He pointed a finger up. "I already told you, didn't I? Keep your eye on the goal. And for you, that's winning the Gym Challenge! Unless you have still have any other gym leaders to defeat, the only gym badge left is the one you'll get from the dragon gym's leader, Raihan. Right? Raihan is the only trainer out there I consider a real rival. He's that good you know! So you both might have a hard time beating him."
"Mr. Champion!" Leon hummed and looked behind him to where a nervous looking policewoman was looking between him and the tunnel. "S-S-Shouldn't we t-take care of the rampaging pokemon first? I'm not sure how long our distraction is keeping it docile."
....He blinked and reached a hand up to rub his neck. "Ah. And there I go again. Sorry, but I suppose this is no time for me to be stopping for a chat. There's a bit of trouble here with my name on it! But don't you worry about a thing!" He sent a smile and thumbs up to the surrounding police force. "The unbeatable Champion is here to look after things and keep you all safe!" He turned back to your group and in a slightly more serious tone spoke to them. "Alright you three. It was really nice seeing you again, but unfortunately I have to go take care of some serious business here." He pointed back up the way you came towards the forest. "Now I know I'm bad with directions but there's another pathway through there that goes around the long way back to Route Eight. I want all of you to go back and use that pathway instead immediately. Just because you all fought dynamaxed pokemon before doesn't make this any less dangerous."
"But-", Hop started but was stopped when his brother grabbed his shoulder. His face dropped when Leon shook his head.
"Sorry, Hoppy. But a big responsibility of the Champion is making sure those around him are safe, and I know Ma would want you to be safe too. So please. Trust your big bro on this one, ok?" He smiled widely. "I'm gonna be heading to Hammerlocke too anyways! So if you all hurry we can meet up there. In fact let's make a game out of it!" He pointed to your small group. "If you three can beat me to Hammerlocke I'll buy everyone a free full meal! Ok?"
"I'm sold!," you answered hearing the prospect of free food.
"I-..." Hop gave one last look at his big brother before sighing and giving a nod. A determined look once again taking over his face. "You can count on me Lee!"
He nodded and went to say something else but before either of you had the chance to say anything else it happened again!! A giant BOOM noise and a roar that sounded like a monster came from directly behind you all. The three teens in front of you all grabbed onto the portable fence and Leon instinctively leaned himself over the smaller kids protectively turning almost horrified behind him as you tried not to fall again. Soon after the trembling stopped ...and everyone slowly looked back up with shocked or concerned faces.
"Are you alright?," Leon asked turning back to his brother and friends who nodded. He breathed a sigh of relief before nodding and leaning back up. "That's good. I want all of you to leave now and go as fast as you can to Hammerlocke. I'll meet you there ok!" Without giving any of you any time to answer he turned back around to the tunnel smirk on his face. "That came from the tunnel wouldn't you say? Seems I'm about to have a champion time!!"
And he left. Or more like ran away as he turned and ran off past you and the officers and into the tunnel entrance. You took that as your cue to gently tug on Hop's shirt and as quickly (but gently) as you you could quickly guide them around and shooed them around and too even your disgruntle back up the pathway which had come judging by the roars that echoed from behind you all, Leon must've confronted the beast. With new worry and adrenaline in your system, you snatched Silver off the group with a giant chirp and pushed them to walk faster and faster as the ground shook under your feet again. Looking over your shoulder every so often and thinking you caught a glimpse of towering pokemon but you weren't sure. You were too busy pushing them all back to the forest and urging Victor to check his regional maps for the other pathway, which thankfully he listened to you and whipped out his phone. Although clearly by the faces of the children they were distressed and worried. You were too but Leon was THE Champion of Galar. He wouldn't be defeated that easily by a random wild pokemon. By the time you had reached the forest again, aching bodies be darned, the group had shaken quite a few times and the roaring sounds of the battling pokemon could reach your ears completely. But you didn't let that distract you in your mission of pushing these guys to the other path.....Which granted DID take a bit of time to find, since two giant bushes had grown over the front of the entrance. No wonder no one noticed it at first. It looked so old and overgrown. Never the less another shaking urged you all to flee down the pathway. And from there you traveled more and more. The forest went on and on for a good while until the path lead out of the woods and into a large open area of grasslands and the occasional house again. Guess this really was the long way around. The four(five of you counting Silver too) traveled all day along Route Nine's other path until the sun had set and you all were forced to make camp and rest for the night, before waking up the next morning and following the road again. The trip was like any other you all have taken before. Taking many days and passing the occasional small town, houses, or other passersbys. Only this time it took a bit longer until you all eventually rounded back onto the main road. Even when you all stopped at a small town to restock supplies, stay at the local inn, and even did a few odd 'poke jobs' to earn a bit of pocket money. A day or two's journey later your group ran into a fork in the road and stopped as Victor whipped out his phone to check his regional maps.
"This is where Route Eight connects to Route Nine," he explained looking at his phone's screen smiling, "So we should just keep walking straight forward onto Route Eight and by that we should reach Hammerlocke in no time."
So back on Route Eight you all made for Hammerlocke ...and it's Gym leader which you really weren't looking forward to seeing again at all.
"Hey! Take a look at the news!" He held his phone out to all of you and you looked. There was a picture of Leon there arms crossed next to a GIANT pokemon that looked like one of the evolved forms of Meowth you thought. It looked like a reporter took a picture of it at some point with some professional journalism colom under the picture with a caption. "See! There's Lee! He really is the greatest, right?" He took his phone back beaming at the picture with wonder. "Lee and his charizard took down that dynamax pokemon in the blink of an eye! I knew Lee was strong but this? Really makes you appreciate how great he is eh?" He smiled widely a new excitement in his step. "Let's go meet up with him everyone! He should be at Hammerlocke stadium!"
"And that free food bet!" Your mind disregarded any disgruntled thoughts of Piers's smooth voice laughing or even Raihan coming to mind as your stomach grumbled at the thought of any good food.
"Well what are we waiting for?," Gloria asked pointing forward, "Let's get to Hammerlocke!!"
For days and days you all traveled. Discussing Raihan and their battle strategies for him. Turns out unlike other leaders Raihan's gym would only conclude in two battles. One would be a tag team battle with two pokemon and the last a dynamax one against his dragon type. ...While battling inside a sandstorm....Great. You REALLY weren't looking forward to this. As days past and your food rations getting lower and lower, you all FINALLY came across Hammerlocke finally. The castle town reared it's head up at you and the pathway lead up to a draw bridge being the entrance. Picking up your speed, you four all made down the path all the way to Hammerlocke. You already taste what curry Leon would be treating you too if he wasn't already there, which you doubted he would be. He was terrible with directions after all. Like any of the other times you came back to Hammerlocke there was a man who worked for the league stationed there and the three had to show him their gym badges in order for them to get inside. Guess that rule was still applied here, and inside you four went. It looked exactly as you all left it since the last time you left here weeks ago to travel to Spikemuth....But there was a clear difference this time. You were on edge. Eyes narrowed and looking this way and that for that fanged gym leader. If you two were gonna meet again you definitely weren't going to be caught off guard. Yep! You were NOT going to be surprised by anything- Hop gasped suddenly and you yelped. Jumping back and bringing your arms up to defend yourself from any flirts!
"Over here!" He cried pointing in front of all you and a little ways away right in front of the entrance to Mr. Rose's power plant was Leon. Hey! And Sonia too! You hadn't seen her since Circhester. "Look! There's Lee! C'mon!" And the three ran...As you blinked. Before sighing and letting your arms slump back to your sides. Get it together Y/n. You had to keep your mind about you. You trudged slowly behind as the others ran towards Leon and Sonia. "LEON!"
The Champion paused mouth open in mid conversation with Sonia....before looking behind him and like a switch going off in his mind, he instantly smiled, turned around, and opened his arms out. Unfortunately he didn't take into account the force of three about fourteen years of age kids leaping into said Champion's arms. Hop got there first of course, Leon letting a loud 'OOF!' at his contact but smiling happily, then the twins...And you watched as Leon went down to the ground under the weighed down hug of them all in one giant laughing mess. Sonia blinked in surprise but then chuckled at the sight. As did you shaking your head and slowly walking up to them. By the time you got there, Leon had sat up with his hat somehow ending up on Hop's head as he laughed at them all.
"Well if it isn't the troublesome trio," Sonia greeted and then smiling in your direction as you walked up to her, "And Y/n! It's been so long since I last saw all of you! How were things in Spikemuth?"
You waved. "Hey Sonia!" You greeted. "Been well. And it looks like you've been doing pretty well too. Have you put together any clues with the tapestries?"
She nodded as Leon stood up. "I think so. It's only a matter of time until I figure out why the tapestries were separated in the first place."
"I'm sure you'll figure it out!," Leon complimented. In the time you two were talking, the others had gotten up and placed the hat back on his head. "It's like fighting a pokemon. It takes a few tries but in the end you'll end up catching it!"
"Speaking of which you made the news pretty recently," you commented hands on your hips.
He chuckled back at you and smiled. "Well I couldn't have it causing anymore damage to anyone else. Luckily no one was hurt but it could've gotten wild if I hadn't taken it down."
"I'd expect nothing less from you and your charizard, Leon," Sonia commented, "You took down that dynamax pokemon in no time."
"Well I am the unbeatable champion after all. But what's going on here?"
Sonia hummed and brought a hand to her chin, a thoughtful look on her face. "An overflowing red light...Pokemon dynamaxing without a power spot?"
''Yeah. But why?," Hop asked. Yeah. You'd like to know too. That was a weird experience.
Sonia shook her head. "I'm not sure. What's going on? That red light could suddenly appear again at any time and we'd have no way of knowing." That wasn't a good thing. If it happened again other people might be hurt. You shivered at the thought of the crashed car you remembered seeing at the Tunnel. If that meowth thing did that what if a pokemon dynamaxed in a city?!
"But being able to predict such things is part of a scientist's work. Didn't you forget, Dear?" The six of you looked over at the new comers voice and you had jumped at the prospect of Raihan..but relaxed when you saw WHO it was. Definitely not Raihan. Too old and not even a boy....But what were the odds of Sonia's Grandmother coming here?! YES. Ms. Magnolia was here. Her can making a tapping sound as she walked up to your group.
"GRAN!?" Sonia gaped mouth open in shock. "What are you doing here?" She asked as if hearing your thoughts.
"The Chairman called for me," she explained carefully. The Chairman? "He wanted to know all about the red light's relationship to the dynamax phenomenon. But I wasn't expecting you running into you all while arriving."
"Did the Chairman know anything?," Leon asked and....and you looked at him. An unexplained familiar feeling falling over you and a bad feeling sitting into your gut. ...Huh?
Ms. Magnolia shook her head. "Nothing worth my time. The Chairman's all wrapped up in fretting over the future our energy apparently."
"Is it really that big of a problem?," you asked and everyone turned to you as you rose a brow, "I mean..Everywhere we've gone there doesn't seem to really be any really bad power cuts or anything."
Leon sighed and reached a hand up to rub his neck. "I'm afraid so. It may not really look like it to you especially since you're from a whole nother region, Y/n. But.....You saw Spikemuth right?" You...Nodded. And Leon frowned further. "The entire town was almost completely shut down due to the power problem. And nearly a quarter of Wyndon City now too. The Chairman's trying to combat it by installing a lot of green energy supplements. Solar panels. Wind turbines. Things like that...But it just seems most of the energy they've been zapping out's been going missing too." He shrugged. "It's a mystery we're trying to figure out. We think someone might've been stealing the power but we haven't detected any outside tampering or signs of electric type pokemon seeping up the energy..Besides the occasional small jolteon."
You looked at him stunned. So Piers's situation was really out of his control. You frowned a feeling of pity falling over yourself. Poor Hot Pink. He was blaming himself when all this time he couldn't have really done anything to prevent his town from falling apart. "Well what about his scientists? Haven't they figured out ways to fix it?"
"I'm afraid it's not as easy as it sounds dear," Ms. Magnolia sighed. "He's left everything to that executive lady. We just don't have enough data. That's why I wanted you to start looking into things too, Sonia. You know more than anyone about the Darkest Day after all."
"Hold on! Are you saying that the red light and the Darkest Day are connected?!"
"Hey." Leon hummed and turned to Hop who grabbed his arm. "Do you reckon there's anything we can do to help out?"
"There must be!," Gloria insisted.
Leon stared for a moment before smiling. "Thanks. I appreciate the thought. But all I could ever ask of you would be that you join me in the greatest final match ever. I'll do my part to make that happen by keeping everybody's future safe." He ruffled Hop's hair with his other hand. "So you both just keep on doing your part by winning your way through the Gym Challenge!"
"Right! 'Course! You're the unbeatable champion after all, right?!"
"Gran," Ms. Magnolia looked back to Sonia as she asked her, "There's something I wanna look into. You'll help me right?"
"Naturally," she answered back nodding, "Come. You can tell me all about it while conversing with the Chairmon." She turned to the powerplant's entrance. "Come along. We mustn't be keeping Mr. Rose waiting. Arceus knows what's going on in there?"
And with that Sonia turned and followed without another word, and you all watched their retreating forms as they walked away. ..Until Leon sighed and turned back to all of you. "Looks like we all know what we need to do. So you three clear the Gym Challenge." Hop and Gloria smiled and chuckled as the older brother ruffled there heads with a teasing smile. "So we can meet again at the Champion Cup. I've had so much fun watching your battles!" He turned to Victor and smiled. "And you!"
Victor jump and held up his hands. "No wait! Lee not my hair-"
Too late. Leon ruffled his hair and beany as Victor groaned and Gloria giggled at him. "Hmhmhm. You're doing a great job capturing those shots on your blog! I know Hop looked so great in those pictures you took of him Battling against Opal! I'm so happy the camera I got you is working so well! I'm sure both our Mums are so happy you three are doing so well for yourselves." Victor groaned even after Leon stopped ruffling his head but didn't complain like he did with the snow in Circhester. You blinked when he finally turned to you. And your eyes bulged out of your head like those funny googly eye stickers when he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small stack of money!! And it was small. Only being around sixty dollars as you stared silently as he held it out to you. "Now I believe I promised you all lunch. I'm afraid I can't join you as the Chairman has called me as well, but this should be enough to tide you over."
".............Huh?,'' you asked.
"Wha- But Lee. We didn't get here before you remember?," Victor pointed out.
And you finally snapped out of it nodding and pointing to him. "Y-Y-Yeah! What he said. ...And why are you giving this to me?"
He smiled before placing the money in your hand using his other hand to close your fingers around it, and you looked between him and the money into your hands as he waved you off. "Take it as a thank you for looking after my little bro and his friend on their journey." You opened your mouth but he held up a hand to stop you. "No. Please. I don't give hand outs, but I also know it's a bit rough for you out there not having any money like the others. I can't give a whole lot but I hope this helps you. Go ahead and get everyone some lunch and the rest is yours."
"You're not joining us?"
He turned to the kids and shook his head. "Sorry guys. But the Chairman calls. It's a part of the job. But I promise I'll make some time to spend with all of you soon." He gave a thumbs up. "But you all go ahead and get some food in the mean time! I can't wait to see how you all handle my own rival."
Oh right....You all were originally here to see Raihan. Joy. You all bid Leon good bye before he turned and jogged off in the direction where Sonia and her grandmother disappeared towards the power plant, but not before pausing and taking another glance at you to give a giant smile to which you blinked at. You stood there for a long moment before looking down to your hands to the $60 sitting in your palm. Not believing what had just happened....but grateful for the kindness he showed you. He really was a really nice guy.
"I know what I need to do all right!" You blinked at Hop pumping a fist into the air. "Defeat that Piers once and for all! You're off to Hammerlocke stadium yeah? Raihan's a tough nut to crack! As Lee would say! Let's do our best!!"
"....Uh Hop. We just came from Spikemuth."
Hop paused...blinking for a moment before lowering his fist. "Oh yeah. I forgot. I guess I got a bit carried away."
"Well before any of that," they turned to you as you held up your hand with the money Leon had given you, "Why don't we get something to eat first like Leon said?"
"I wouldn't be opposed to that," Victor agreed.
You nodded and smiled. "Alright. I remembered there's two places to eat around here." You leaned back up and looked around a good portion. And stopped pointing off towards the train station. "Do you guys want to eat at the small curry corner at the station or the cafe on the other side of town?"
The three voted for the cafe on the other side of town and you nodded in agreement before heading over there. Silver trailing behind. But of course you kept an eye out looking around for that fanged fiend. To your relief not seeing anyone fitting his description. Safely arriving at the cafe and going inside. It was ...nice. Quiet. And the store owner smiled greeting you all as you sat at one table. You all practically had the place to yourselves too, with there only being one or two other people in there with you. And you all ordered. Curry for everyone of course for Gloria to get more pictures of for her curry Dex. You got another Egg curry, this time being different from the others. The Dry Boiled Egg Curry, as you didn't think Silver would handle the sour, bitter, or spicy egg curries. Like a hawk, Silver's yellow eyes laser focused on your plate as soon as it was brought out to you. And soon you all got his reaction. Silver had grabbed a hold of your pants leg wide eyed and immediately began babbling off and looking expectantly between you and the egg sitting in the middle of your dish. When you didn't immediately give it too him he started whining and tugging on your pants to get it.
"Ok ok." He watched as you carefully picked up the egg in your hands and he instantly held his tiny pink hands out towards it. Smacking his lips once it was gently lowered to him. Guessed he must've been really hungry too. "Here. Man. It seems you get hungrier every time I turn around." Silver ignored your comment in favor of shoving half the egg into his mouth and plop himself down next to you. With a sigh and roll of your eyes you turned back to the others. "So...Have you all figured out what you're going to be doing?"
"We're still working on that," Hop answered pointing his fork at you. Somehow already these three were already half way done with their food. "I figured I could stop by the stadium and see when one of us could battle Raihan. I haven't met him yet and seeing him in person could help me get a feel for what he's like in battle beyond the videos I've seen."
Gloria held up her hand. "I'm gettin' more food!! Since the Champion Match ain't gonna take place til the end of the year, we'll need more supplies for in between time!....And just in case we need ta stay extra days ta defeat the bloke. Eh?"
Victor nodded in approval. "Exactly why I'm goin' to be settin' up our camp sight right outside the entrance by the Vault. It's late in the day so someone has ta get a spot for us ta stay before dark."
You nodded. All of those sounded like a pretty good idea. Camp. Supplies. And a time scheduale for the upcoming battles. Preparing ahead was always a good idea. "That sounds like a good idea. When you're all finished eating you can go ahead and do all that. I'll finish eating and probably join all of you back at camp. Ok?''
You didn't think they could've eaten any faster and soon their plates were empty and they were getting up from the table bidding you far well for the moment. You reminded them all to meet back at the camp sight Victor would be setting up on their way out and you were left with Silver lazily sitting at your feet to finish your own food. With a sigh you enjoyed the silence of the small shop with the elevator like music playing, and the delicious smells coming from the cafe's kitchen in the back. You only really looked up when Silver tugged on your pants again and with a curious chirp pointed to your drink. With a roll of your eyes you handed him the glass of water as he took it. And drank. Forgetting he was a water type for a moment. Guess he must've needed water too. As you nearly finished eating the cafe door opened again, only being alerted to it when the small bell rang. But you didn't look up when the man in the orange bandanna walked in.
The cafe owner paused but quickly smiled and leaned his arms against the counter. "Well, well." He said amused raising a brow. "Coming in town this late in the day? Hmhm. Weren't you on a long holiday yet?"
You finished eating and sighed leaning back as the bandanna man chuckled back. Still not looking up or aware as it was none of your business. And not suspecting anything. "Well, I was. But you know me by now. I have to stop by every so while in case there's anyone here for me. Y'know that a lot of them dropped out thanks to Kabu again?"
The cafe owner chuckled again. "HA! Doesn't surprise me one bit. That old geezer's been doing that ever since he came here years ago. *sigh* But back to business. What can I do you for today? The usual?"
You took a couple seconds fishing through your pockets to pull out the leftovers from after you paid for everyone's food and rose a brow trying to figure out how much exactly you should leave for the tip before you leave. Mr. Orange Bandanna chuckled and put his hands behind his head. "Yeah. Y'know what..Can ya make that to go? Oh! And a dozen of those pokemon-safe donuts! My guys deserve to have a little treat too yknow."
"Hahaha! Ever the classic Raihan!" Your body froze. The cafe owner turned a moment. "It'll take about twenty minutes. Feel free to sit and wait while I go get everything."
"Sure! I got time."
Your body froze. Cold shooting through your veins like ice was directly injected into you. Your face paled whiter than Circhester's snow....And you slowly, ever so slightly looked behind you over your shoulder. Not enough to show your entire face but just enough to let you see clearly behind you. And your f/c eyes widened, pupils shrinking. And the money was almost dropped into your lap. .....OH NO- Standing there looking off bored thankfully away from you ....Was Raihan. The Gym leader didn't seem to notice you or even recognize your existence literally a few feet from him. You stared wide eyed and he didn't seem to feel your intense stare on him either. You nearly jumped when he yawned showing off those fangs (what HUMAN had fangs!?) and looked forward again. Removing one hand from his head he reached down into one of his jacket pockets and pulled out his phone. Oh CRAP CRAP CRAP! You snapped back forward...Big mistake. Because the suddenly movement caught the eye of two people. Silver who held up the now empty cup to you, and Raihan who hummed and turned his head curiously to you. ...Before turning back to his-....Scrunching his brows his face dawned a 'Wait a minute-' look to it before he turned his head back towards you and rose a brow. Even though you didn't know he was looking at you, you swore you could FEEL those blue eyes on you. Unlike Piers's electric bright blue eyes, Raihan's were a periwinkle baby blue. And soft like the petals of flowers, but somehow also gave the impression of a fierce storm about to rain itself upon the world. Not like Piers's at all which gave the impression of a tired hard working soul but also some hidden exciting 'electric' personality. You quickly flipped through your money trying to find something, before just settling on a five dollar bill and left it down on the table. All the while Silver had stood and like a toddler with his mother, kept chirping at you, tugging your jacket, and holding up the cup to you. Raihan's eyes blinked shifting between you...and that familiar shiny drizzlie....And his eyes lit up as something clicked in his mind. .....And he smiled.
You flung the five dollar bill onto the table for the tip and went to stuff the money back into your pocket- "ACK!" A glass bumped into your cheek and you frowned over at Silver who innocently chirped and tried handing you the glass again. With a sigh you finally took it from his teeny pink hand. "Sil. You couldn't have waited for me to finish?" You didn't notice the guy sit down in the chair next to you. Head in one hand. "We need to leave." You looked back up and placed the cup down, in view now of the man. "Cuz I'm not gonna-".....You paused mouth slightly open making Raihan chuckle right next to you. You nearly JUMPED out of your chair bristled like a cat as you snapped over to the guy. "GAH!?" Instead you leaned away fast arms up. "WHAT THE HE-...YOU!?"
He ended up chuckling a deep rumble that sounded like a deep purr. Now any other woman, and some men, would've swooned or blushed at the sound of such a chuckle..But instead you frowned. It only reminded you of a sound a cat would rumble out before chasing a mouse. He gazed at you with half lidded eyes and waved his other hand at you. "I thought I recognized you from somewhere."
....You frowned and lowered your arms but didn't stop leaning back. "Oh joy."
Despite you not hiding your annoyance he simply chuckled again a lazed smirk pointed at you. "Y'know...I actually didn't think it was you at first." he shrugged. "Honestly didn't expect to see you at all again either. But the chances of another woman with f/c hair and f/c eyes running around with a shiny water type are pretty slim to none." His smiled widened to show his fangs. "But I'm not complaining.~"
"Bro. What the heck?," you deadpanned at him and crossed your arms, "I thought I told you, very politely might I add, last time that I wasn't interested."
He hummed and nodded. '' You did. You did. I'm not denying that fact for a bit."
....You rose a brow. "Ok. Then what do you want then?"
"That's just the thing." He sighed looking you over as you narrowed your eyes. Silver chirped in question peeking over your leg curiously to why you were angry. "...You see...I usually don't get the kind of reaction you gave me all those weeks ago. Not so fast. Not so blunt." He chuckled and rose a brow. "And definitely not with the kind of sass you delivered. I haven't been able to forget about it."
"Not my problem, Dude. Not interested."
"Oh come on. That's a little unfair since you don't know much about me. I'd like to get to know a girl like you more! Why don't I buy you dinner and we can chat?"
"I already ate thanks." You pointed to the dishes. "And I have some people waiting for me so...Polite pass."
He smiled brightly an idea flashing from behind those eyes and you cringed. Oh no. He pointed at you. "Hey! That's right you were with that gym challenger right?" You didn't like where this was going. "That could only mean she's passing through or here to battle me right?"
"The latter," you answered truthfully.
His smile got wider. "Then how about this? If I win against her I get to take you out for dinner!"
You have a huff staring at the wild suggestion he even made. "You honestly believe I'm going to agree to THAT!? You don't know when to stop huh?"
His hand was placed on his chest. "You got me. But yes. I'm known for being pretty determined for the goals I strive." He winked at you. Oh brother. "But I promise I don't bite.~.....Much.~"
You were already darting your eye around on edge trying to figure out a way out of this mess you had accidentally and unintentially put yourself in. UGH!! WHY COULDN'T THINGS JUST BE EASY FOR YOU FOR ONE DAY!? Your f/c eyes gazed over him and eventually locked onto his hood....then to the white straps on his jacket. A light bulb switching in your brain as an idea finally came into your head. And it made you cringe. Oh. You DIDN'T like it. Faaaaar from it....But it would certainly be a fast ticket out. You just had to suck it up and go for it!......May Arceus have mercy on your dying pride for what you were about to do.
Forcing yourself to relax, you inhaled a deep breath before exhaling your tense body relaxing. Before leaning forward towards Raihan and smiled. Eyes half lidded. "Yeah?~ Well Dragon Boy. Maybe I ought to kidnap YOU and see how you like it.~" Raihan paused. Seeming to blink taken aback for a moment. His blue eyes looked over you at the confusion of the sudden flirty (GAG-) tone you were forcing yourself to do. But you didn't give his brain any time to process it before standing up in the blink of an eye and leaning over him. "Maybe I ought to badger your handsome face and see how cute you look.~" You cringed inwardly SO SO SO HARD and reached your hand up and over his still processing face to grab his hood. Gently pulling it over and placing it softly on his head. "And how sweet you look in his hoodie of yours.~ You know what else is a good look for ya?~"
.....Raihan relaxed, a flirty smirk printed on his fanged face as he delivered another rumbling purr-laugh. God you wanted to hide and RUN!! "No.~ Why don't you tell me?~"
You chuckled and stared at him. ".....THIS!!"
In a flash your hands grabbed onto those white straps and YANKED!! In an instant, with a ZIP noise raihan's hood shrank in around his head and he suddenly gave a loud yelp of surprise at the suddenly hoodie attack you gave. You didn't even blink. Not waiting for him to respond, you quickly whipped around, snatched Silver into your arms with a loud chirp from him, and RAN!!
"SAY HI TO LEON FOR ME!!"
Booking it out the store, the bell rang like a maniac above your held as you legged it panic running through your veins like when the onix was chasing you back in the Wild Area. Not even caring anymore. You went right down past the other stores, past the Vault and homes, and past through the draw bridge exit Hammerlocke had. Stopping and breathing heavily from panic you looked around wildly, you spotted them. Two tents set up a little ways out of the exit like Victor had said, and right in front of said tent was Hop and Victor talking. Without hesitating you RAN towards them. Victor was first to notice then Hop hearing the incoming footsteps and both seemed surprised as you skidded to a stop in front of them breathing heavily with Silver in your arms. .....Both boys looked at each other. Hop Shrugged. Then looked back to you.
"Um....Are you ok, Y/n?," Victor asked uncertainly.
"Yeah. What happened to you, Mate."
With a final breath you scowled in annoyance at nothing in particular. "....Don't ask. Move over. I'd like to hide-...I mean sit in the tent for a bit."

A Champion Time For The Heart Ch22 To Hammerlocke Again

The late spring sun beated down on Dani's bare, pale shoulders. No doubt she was going to get a sunburn before she left Amity. This is why she hated the midwest. She sighed, letting her head fall back on her hands knitted together behind her head.
A couple steps ahead of her Danny and Sam—who was smart enough to bring a black umbrella to block the sun—were talking much too loudly about ghost stuff. It was honestly a miracle that only the Weston kid knew Danny's secret, she thought idly. The years of lying and sneaking around hadn't taught them much.
Dani let her mind drift. She usually spent her summers up north, but maybe this year she should head to South America. It would be winter there, so she'd still avoid the heat. Her attention snapped back to the present when she heard a distant rumble and Danny cursing under his breath.
“Is that Kwan?” Sam suppressed a laugh as a giant Cujo ran past them. Squished between the dog's teeth was a burly boy screaming like a toddler.
“Fuckin—I'll be right back.” He took off running, only to turn back and point at Sam, “Don't forget my milkshake!”
Sam rolled her eyes as Danny disappeared into an alleyway.
“That happen a lot?” Dani looked at Sam with raised eyebrows, but the gothy teen just shrugged.
“Eh, I guess. Though, it's usually a tree or a car, not a football player.” Sam adjusted her umbrella and kept walking.
Dani followed silently. It wasn't that she didn't like Sam, per say, but there was little they had in common, other than Danny. Most days, Dani couldn't tell if Sam hated her or not, but Tucker said that was her “normal.”
What Dani didn't think was “normal” was the way Sam glared at her when she showed off the things she'd collected on her travels. It didn't really matter in the grand scheme of things though. She only spent a few weeks of the year in Amity, and they were never alone. Usually.
By the time they arrive at Nasty Burger, Dani is bursting with nervous energy. She'd never been good with silence—it's always been a harbinger of bad things for her—or social situations. A laboratory and back alleys aren't exactly the ideal place for proper socialization, she'd learned.
Dani shifted her weight unconsciously next to Sam, who stood firmly in place.
“So,” Dani dragged out the vowel, regretting her inability to stay quiet as Sam glared ahead, not even acknowledging her presence, “whatcha getting?”
“A coke.”
The answer was short and clipped. Sam's violet eyes didn't move from their place focused on the menu. Dani felt both shame and anger wash over over, making her already hot face heat up even more.
“Cause you're vegan right?” Dani decided she's not going to give Sam the win in the proverbial war. If she wanted Dani to be annoying, Dani would show her how annoying she could be. “You know, I met this really nice lady in London that runs a Vegan Indian restaurant. She even taught me a few things—”
”That's nice.” Sam cuts her off as they advance in line. Dani silently stewed as Sam ordered for them, glaring at her back the entire time.
The skin under Dani's jeans started to burn, like she's an ant under a magnifying glass. She began to sweat, and was regretting her choice of jeans and a flannel. The thick plaid fabric is too hot even wrapped around her waist.
Dani didn't register Sam finish ordering, or moving from the counter until the girl's icy hand shook her shoulder. Dani flinched away, startled by the sudden shock in temperature.
“Your hand's fucking cold,” Dani blurted out.
Sam raised her eyebrows, “Well then, you should've paid attention.” Before Dani could think of a response Sam turned on her heel and walked away.
Dani took a deep sigh, but the air felt thick and sticky. As she followed Sam towards the pick up counter, her head started to spin.
Suddenly every breath wasn't enough. Her skin prickled, and despite the thick layer of sweat now covering her body, she felt herself only getting warmer and warmer.
“Hey,” Dani spoke, but it sounded detached and breathy to her ears. She knew something was wrong, but she couldn't place it. “Do you think it's hot in here? Like—really hot. I think it's hot.”
Dani could hear Sam respond in her signature monotone, but couldn't make out the words. It sounded like Dani was under water—unable to properly hear anything. The air felt thicker and thicker, and her breathing got more desperate.
Once again, she felt a cold hand on her shoulder, but this time when she looked, Sam's eyes were filled with something adjacent to concern, she thought. Dani watched Sam's mouth move, but the only sound she could hear was a high pitched ringing—and it was getting louder.
Much louder.
She slapped her hands over her ears, but it didn't help. She could still hear it. It was getting closer.
And closer.
The air continued to get thicker and thicker—Sam's hand grounded her as the air around her clung to her skin, thickening like jello.
Her vision blurred—or maybe it was the world that was blurring. She couldn't tell. The only thing she could focus on was the wall clock, which remained the same as green shifted in and out of her vision.
Then suddenly—everything was quiet.
All but the steady tic, toc of the clock. She tried to find something wrong with it—perhaps a clue as to why she was feeling that way.
Tic. Toc.
Tic. Toc.
Tic. Toc.
But there was nothing.
Tic. Toc.
Tic. Toc.
Nothing but green.
Tic. Toc.
Then—
Darkness.

The Moon & The Tower | Verse I: Tomorrows problems are happening today.
Clockwork looked into the swirling vortex of violet and electric blue. He willed it to take form, show him what he desires, without a single word. It only took an off handed thought for the image of a young boy to appear.
The boy is curled up in a ball, his carrot colored hair falling into his face. Between his hands he grips a singular worn photo.
Clockwork knew the photo well, even if no other living being does. Clockwork spent maybe just as much time staring at it as the boy.
After all, letting an entire timeline collapse was not an easy decision, no matter how bleak the future.
The moment Clockwork was waiting for comes sooner than he anticipated. Or perhaps he was just losing his edge. It was bound to happen after the first thousand millenia or so.
There was no explosion. No scream, no fight, no speech.
Just a single, silent tear.
Clockwork has seen this moment thousands, if not millions of times. Even if the boy did not understand the significance of this moment in the grand scheme of the cosmos, Clockwork does.
It was much more than a boy trying to swim though immeasurable grief. It was the end of what would have been, and the acceptance of what will be.
Clockwork could feel the universe shake. It trembled in tandem with the breathing of the boy. Each tear was a new rift in the space-time continuum, each gasp a shattering quake.
The Infinite Realms tried to patch herself up, fill in the holes to stop the dimension from completely collapsing in on itself. She was something of a cosmic nurse, the safeguard between multiversal dimensions.
Forever fated to watch and wait. To fix the broken. Give the lost a place in the cosmos.
She is much kinder than he is, Clockwork thinks idly. If she knew what was coming next would she stop it? Probably.
It was a good thing then, that it was up to him. He could make the hard decisions.
Clockwork watches as power surges from one dimension to another. It wouldn’t be long now.
Not long at all.

It took only one week of quiet for them to build.
One week of not a single ghost or specter to be seen in town.
And they had built a wall to encase the town.
A great wall that towered over the highest points of the city.
Shooting and arresting any who fought against the building project.
Didn't matter the age or species.
The GIW showed no mercy to any who even thought to go against them.
At the end of the week, arose a sparkling light from the top of the wall.
Up, up, and up it went.
A dome of energy.
And the agents cheered.
No soul, living or dead, could leave the city of Amity Park.
"What… the actual fuck. Is that?" Valerie glares up at the sparkling blue sky.
"An oncoming headache," Sam answers.
"Tuck?"
"Yeah, yeah, keep your pants on, I'm already looking into it-"
"Or we could ask someone," Jazz cuts in before jogging down the steps of her house. She crosses the street to talk with their neighbor, Mrs. Buttoneer.
The trio look at each other before crossing the street.
"–and I tell you, a nightmare, an absolute nightmare it's been since the ghosts left."
"Why? I thought the town would be happy that the ghosts left for a bit," Valerie asks.
"Oh dearie no, I don't know what to do with myself since even little Kore left," she blubbers, dabbing her eye with a handkerchief.
"Her cat ghost," Jazz explains. "Mrs. Buttoneer, what's with the sky? Where is everyone?"
"Oh those nasty, nasty agents took them all. They blasted anyone on the streets near the wall, arrested anyone that-"
"Wait wall?"
"What do you mean arrests?"
"It's the Guys in White, isn't it?" Danny's voice echoes from behind the group.
They shift so he can join, a clip of crystal ice in his hair and a piece of fine curling metal on his ear. He stands straighter, shoulders back, a hardness in his gaze that makes them all stand straighter.
"It is, they built the wall and dome to keep us all in here. No one in, no one out."
Valerie frowns in thought, "How are you getting shipments in?"
"We're not. All the stores are just about emptied out. Why most of us old folk can't get our medications."
"The fuck, are they seriously trying to bury us?"
Danny looks up at the dome.
"Danny?" Jazz places a hand on his shoulder.
"If it's a war they want, it's a war they'll get," Sam says, eyes taking on a purple glow.
Valeries eyes shine red, "Nobody fucks with our town." She punches her fist to make her point.
Tucker and Jazz glance at Mrs. Buttoneer before looking back to Danny.
"It's your call," Jazz says, squeezing his shoulder.
Danny looks to his friends.
Gaze searching.
Taking a breath, he puts a hand over Jazz's and squeezes.
She offers a tight smile that he returns.
"Mrs. Buttoneer, you should head inside," he turns to his neighbor.
"Honey, if you think I'm going inside and ignore what you kids are planning, you've got another thing coming for you. Let me get my gun."
Sam and Valerie’s jaws drop.
"Gun?!" Tucker squeaks. "Why do you have a gun- Danny why does your neighbor have a gun?"
"This ain't a free country but I damn well have the right to shoot those bastards in the face." She wags a fist at the sky, trudging back up the steps into her house.
"I think I found my new role model," Valerie says in awe.
"Are we seriously waiting for an old lady?" Tucker asks.
"It would be rude not to," Jazz shrugs.
Danny can't help the fond smile as he rolls his eyes. "I'm going on ahead, if you want to wait for her."
"I'll go with Mrs. Buttoneer, you guys go on ahead," Jazz pulls Danny into a quick side hug. "You be safe."
"It's not like they can touch me now," Danny says, the whites of his eyes turning black as his iris' shine green.
He turns on his heel and, between one step and the next, lets his transformation wash over him.
Gone is the flash of white light.
Replaced by engulfing shadows that sink into him.
His old hazmat suit is replaced by gunmetal armor adorned with a cloak of starry shadows.
Black smoke drifts from his eyes and hands.
Floating above white hair sparkles a crown of crystaled ice.
On one of his pointed ears is wrapped black filament with sparkling gemstones.
The next step pushes him off the sidewalk and into the air. Curling black smoke trails in his wake.
Valerie flanks him on his left.
"What's the plan?" She asks.
"Take down the dome."
"...and?"
He shrugs, setting his cloak rippling from the movement.
"Fantastic planning as always," she huffs as the two draw close to the top of the dome. "How did I ever think you were smart?"
"You just think I'm cute," Danny turns to wink over his shoulder.
"Maybe I need glasses then."
Danny laughs then, something that sounds more like shattering glass and the rushing of a storm.
Valerie doesn't flinch, but she can't help the chill that raises goosebumps on her skin.
In a dramatic flare of green fire, he summons a great scythe that glints green under the sparking of the dome.
He twirls the weapon idly, letting it whistle as it cuts through the air.
As the noise hits the peak of its crescendo, he shifts.
The blade slicing through the energy shield and sending green and black fire out and down.
With an impressive roar and bang, the dome collapses, the tops of the wall burning in ghost fire.
"Okay, have to admit, that was pretty impressive," she concedes.
"Why thank you kindly, fair lady," he offers a dramatic bow.
"Call me that again, and I'll blast you back to your castle."
"It's a keep," he smiles ruefully. Twirling the scythe once more, he tears open a portal.
"Now, how about we make them regret starting a war with the inevitable?"
"Despite that being the most evil thing you could have said," a blaster takes form in her hands. "I do like the sound of that."
An explosion of vines and purple roses erupts on a section of wall.
Across the way, part of the wall implodes into golden geometric strings of light.
In the middle of the city, bronze fire blooms higher than the surrounding buildings.
Danny moves from the portal and pulls his hood up obscuring his face and crown.
"In his defense," a ghost emerges, a familiar hazmat suit pulled taught over muscles. A small silver crown nestled in the white flame of hair.
 "I am inevitable."

Yoy should make men kiss, like kisss,, make them so in love
Anything for you bestie
---
It’s not often that Tucker goes soft. Not like this.
He’s meant to be the big flirt, mister casanovas, the love doctor, not whatever sappy shit he has going on with Wash.
But he is soft. He is sappy. He’s so head over heels for the guy that he wouldn’t even be bothered if Washington didn’t want to have sex with him! That’s how much he likes him! How much he likes being around him!
And it’s weird, especially for Tucker. He’s never felt so attached to a lover before, never felt so swept up in emotion that he feels like he could burst on the stop, never been knocked so hard off his feet with a single kiss. And it’s not even just the kissing!
Wash will do this thing when they stand next time each other, whether at perfect attention or walking casually through the hall. He’ll gently brush the edge of Tucker’s hand, almost like he bumped into him on accident, and then he’ll lace their pinkies together.
Their pinkies! Like they were in a fucking romcom! And Tucker’s stupid fucking heart will start beating like a drum over it. It’s embarrassing.
But he doesn’t want it to stop, doesn’t want Wash to pull away his pinkie or stop kissing the tip of his nose or the back of his hand, doesn’t want him to stop whispering praise between his shoulder blades as he holds Tucker in bed, doesn’t want Wash to stop loving him so dearly.
And he doesn’t want to stop either. Tucker wants to keep kissing and loving and doting and adoring Wash for the rest of time. He wants time make Wash smile all crooked and dopey, wants to see his hair stick up like a porcupine in the morning, wants to hold his stupid pinky down the hall.
It’s disgusting. It’s terrifying. It’s everything Tucker is scared of wrapped up in a beautiful man with a wonderful mind and a kind heart.
And he wouldn’t give it up for the world. Not for one goddamn second.

So Alone (No You're Not)
My @invisobang fic! Sequel to last year's Invisobang fic. Find the links for that here.
It must be read first for this to make any sense at all :)
Word Count: 23,439
Summary:
Phantom's Keep. Much nicer than the old name. But all is not well and stone is not yet set. Danny navigates all of the expectations that are laid out for him as the rising Ghost King and what it really means. Not only for his human life, but Sam and Tucker's as well. Would they really be better off without him bogging them down?

FFnet
This post has only the first chapter, you have to go to Ao3 or FFnet for the rest!
MONDAY 8 PM
“I guess we have some time to kill.” Sam wondered aloud. She was laying across the bed, kicking her feet idly. She picked at one of the fur blankets.
The room was full of various drapery and furs. Which made sense, seeing as it was a room fit for a king.
Yeesh, Danny still felt strange thinking about that. It felt like just yesterday Clockwork had popped into his room and demanded a meeting. Only for Danny to discover that, apparently, the GZ itself had chosen him to be the next King and oh, yeah, if he didn’t accept then the entirety of the Infinite Realms would destabilize. No pressure, right?
And if the Realms collapsed, Earth was next on the chopping block. His obsession made the choice for him, no way could he let something like that happen.
Yeah. That was a fun Monday afternoon. A whirlwind of the next two weeks went by, and now the trio were at the Keep. Pariah’s Keep to be exact. Danny felt shivers down his spine as he looked around the room.
Pariah probably used to live here, didn’t he? An unwanted thought told him to tear it to shreds, for what that tyrant had done, but it was washed away by his morals. Dora’s people had already done so much to restore the wartorn Keep, he didn’t want to cause any more damage.
Mattingly -Dora’s Kingdom- were spearheading the heavy project that was restoring the Keep. Dora herself had also been largely helpful in just organizing things, stuff Danny had no idea how to do. She even got him teachers to help him learn all the things he needed to know, if he was ever gonna be a good King. He’d never be able to thank her for all she’s done, but he certainly planned to try.
Sam stood up, walking around the bend in the room, where they hadn’t yet ventured. She found a door she hadn’t noticed at first.
“Check this out!” She shouted, waving them over. Danny came, but Tucker stayed where he’d collapsed on the bed’s pillows. The only response he gave was a tired sigh. When Danny neared he saw Sam, holding open a heavy door. What he saw behind it was shocking. It was a humongous closet, probably almost the size of his bedroom, if a bit narrower.
Sam entered first, surveying the clothes on either wall. She eyed the various pairs of shoes on the bottom shelves. She grabbed one that looked like it would hurt if thrown, but probably wouldn’t leave a bruise. Danny ducked out of her way as she exited, clearly on a mission.
Sam rounded the corner and lobbed the shoe at Tucker’s head.
“Hey!” He shouted, when smacked in the forehead with a heeled boot. Tucker shot up, grabbing the shoe and returning fire before he even realized what he’d been holding.
“What- where did you find a shoe?” Tucker questioned. Sam just took a step back and gestured to the closet. Tucker got up from the bed and looked curiously into the open doorway.
The closet was packed to the brim with clothes, but not unorganized. It was separated into three distinct sections, presumably one for each of them. Dora must've had a hand in picking out the wardrobes, because they were themed in their respective favorite colors. She was the only one who they were vaguely familiar enough with to know such a thing. Although it was also the colors most of them wore every day, so that probably clued her in. Or maybe it was sheer coincidence, who knows?
To the right was a wall of blacks and purples. It was ordered between tops, pants, skirts, and dresses. There were three pairs of shoes- black flats, what looked like black riding boots(one of which was missing), and a short pair of heels. The entire selection really looked like it’d been pulled from a renaissance festival, which Danny supposed was kinda Dora’s style.
It’d been a while since he’d been to one of those. The last time was probably in Middle school when Jazz-
Jazz.
Heckity.
Danny’s promise came back to him suddenly, the one he’d made with Sarah. His core rumbled slightly, nervously, in his chest. If he didn’t tell Jazz about the fight with Dash in the next week, Sarah was gonna tell her for him. Danny lets loose one time and it bites him in the butt. Of course, just his luck. If Jazz got that video without any context she would immediately turn and start trying to psycho-analyze him. He wouldn’t be able to hide anything from her if she was looking for it.
Really, Jazz deserved to know what was going on. But Danny didn’t want to tell her. That’d be like making the whole thing real- if it wasn’t real enough already.
Danny turned back to the room. That was a future Danny problem. (Not Dan, to be exact. Just Danny-but-a-week-from-now. He didn’t want to think about what will have happened in that week).
Sam pawed through her selection of clothes, humming at some of the options. She got a disgusted look on her face when she saw a ballgown. It was at least purple, but still way out of Sam’s usual style. Danny floated to watch over Sam’s shoulder and saw a tag on the dress in ghost speak. Sam turned and held it up for him to read, and Danny did so aloud.
“Every girl needs at least one. From Dorathea.”
“I guess,” Sam said sarcastically. She shoved the dress back into place, intending to forget about it no doubt.
To the right of the closet was a sea of yellows, gold, and various neutral browns. Clearly meant for Tucker. There were comparatively fewer clothes for him than Sam, though it was still a full wardrobe’s worth. Tucker’s eyes sparkled as he marveled at the selection. His was organized similarly, and was just as medieval. But that didn’t seem to bother him. He pulled a few things off the racks and judged them against himself in the mirror. They all looked to be around the right size, if a bit small for him. Tucker’s growth spurt had done him very few favors, so far. (That didn’t keep Danny from being salty that the top of his head only came up to Tucker’s nose.)
Finally, at the end of the room was Danny’s section. An ocean of blues and silver. As well as some whites. A pop of green or two. Danny ran a hand along the fabric. It felt cool beneath his fingertips, obviously not of the Real World in origin. It was native to the GZ, it would seem. That was interesting. He wondered, who in the GZ made clothes? Did full ghosts even have a need for them? And what were they made of? Where did they sell them?
Danny realized suddenly there was so much he didn’t know about the GZ, and its culture. Guess that’s what happens when the only things you do in an alternate dimension are fight and meet up with a time god. And also become High King, apparently.
Sitting on a mannequin was a cape that made Danny’s core skip a beat.
It was a floor-length cloak, with a hood of white fur. The length was ombre, starting at a deep navy blue and ending in a dark teal-green.
Flashes passed before Danny’s eyes, memories of Clockwork’s time mirror and the damning image it’d shown.
Danny stepped forward gingerly. He reached out to the cloak so that he could feel the fabric. It was soft, and cool in his hands. Like a breeze. The fur was a stark white, maybe even brighter than his hair. The clasp was expertly crafted, mimicking Sam’s logo perfectly. It was a work of art, but Danny couldn’t help but hold ill will towards the garment.
A stray thought in his head said to burn it. Let it reduce to ashes in his hands. To take control of the story narrative. But he knew he couldn’t do that. He never would have, the future is the proof. And if that didn’t make him feel a bit hopeless, what would?
Danny abandoned the cloak and perused the rest of the clothes. He whistled lowly. He was particularly drawn to a rack of flowy dress shirts. He felt the material- it was soft and silky. Danny walked to the other side, hand tracing across the clothing yet again.
He marveled at how it all hummed ever-so-slightly under his fingertips.
As Danny was going through his clothes, Sam was pulling things off the rack. She went over to a floor-length mirror that hung in the closet and held things in front of her, comparing their styles. A sudden sharp grin crossed her face.
“What do you guys say to a bit of a fashion show?” She suggested gleefully. Tucker’s head popped up.
“Sounds like a plan to me,” He agreed. They looked to Danny. He shifted awkwardly.
“I suppose it can’t hurt. We just gotta make sure to put everything back.” His friends both shot him thumbs up.
“Since it was my idea I wanna go first, you guys out so I can change.” With that Sam shoved them out of the closet, left to her own devices.
“I wanted to go first.” Tucker mumbled. He threw himself into a plush chair that sat next to the bookshelf.
“How long do you reckon she’ll be?” Danny asked.
“No clue,” Shrugged Tucker. Danny elected to sit on the bed.
Surprisingly, Sam only took a few minutes. She waltzed out like a model.
Sam wore a dark purple shirt that had bell sleeves, which ended around her elbows. Around her waist was a black corset, which had plum roses embroidered into the panels. It was tied in the front with a ribbon. There was a jeweled belt over the corset that had a small chain hanging down off of it. It was offset, dangling off her hip. She wore flowy black pants that disappeared into her riding boots.
Sam had never really been a fantasy goth, but her outfit was certainly striking.
She held up two cloaks, each with a furry black hood. Danny hadn't even seen she had cloaks.
"Black or purple?" She asked, holding either up to her shoulder. Danny was out of his depth. They both looked okay? Fashion wasn’t his forte, he usually stuck to graphic t-shirts and jeans. Maybe a flannel if he was feeling it.
Tucker hummed.
"Maybe black?" He suggested with a shrug. Sam raised a brow quizzically. She tossed it over her shoulder, hastily putting the other back on its hanger. She struck a pose.
“You look kinda like a knight,” Danny remarked. She looked ready to ride into battle in a medieval period drama.
“Yeah?” Sam asked. She spun, watching the various frills and cape flutter. There was a wide grin across her face.
“Do you think they expect us to wear this stuff?” She asked quizzically. She did another spin, in the opposite direction.
Briar had mentioned something about (insulted) their modern clothes, so perhaps? They wouldn't just be there for no reason, right? Oh Danny was already dreading having to pick out clothes, if that was the case. He hoped it wasn’t.
“Honestly, I have no clue.” Danny replied.
“I dunno,” Tucker added with a shrug. Sam made a ‘hm’ sound.
“Well I don’t want to get changed back into my own clothes yet, so one of you go ahead.” Said Sam, throwing her ponytail over her shoulder. When Danny didn’t immediately volunteer, Tucker spoke up.
“I guess I’ll go.” He said, getting up from his seat.
“Any suggestions?” He asked in Sam’s direction. She stepped back into the closet and Tucker followed suit. Danny didn’t want to get up, he just flopped back on the bed.
The sudden movement made Danny’s head hurt. It reminded him suddenly how he’d been in a fight with Dash not even 12 hours ago. Injuries in his human form always lasted longer, though not to the same extent as if he was completely without his ghost half. Just… sluggishly.
His nose in particular was throbbing, each pulse of his core (heart?) making him feel like his head would explode from the pressure. Not a good reminder. He transformed, and a bit of the pain drifted away. Being in ghost form helped a bit, but not nearly as much as he would have liked.
Sam and Tucker talked for a bit, their voices warbling through the walls from the other room. Sam left Tucker on his own a few minutes later. Tuck was in there for a while, longer than Sam had been at least. He practically slammed the door on Sam, even if he shouted an apology a split second later. Sam’s footsteps quieted, then got louder. She wandered over to the bed where Danny laid, and he could feel the shift when she sat down.
“D’you think he thinks he’s hiding his sudden interest in fashion?” Sam asked. A smile found its way onto Danny’s face.
“He probably thinks he’s getting away with it.”
“Yeah, probably.” The conversation petered off. Danny heard the pages of a book turning, and that explained the detour Sam had taken. She paid a visit to the bookshelf.
Danny was hit by a wave of boredom. But he didn't want to waste what precious battery life his phone had. Thus, he was left with nothing to do.
He got bored rather quickly. And by quickly, it was about five minutes later. He finally got up from the bed and decided to explore the room a bit more. If he was gonna be staying here, he might as well familiarize himself with it. In his search. Danny discovered two doors in the back corner. One led to a bathroom, much like he had expected. (Or, at least, wanted it to be. Did full ghosts have any use for a bathroom?)
The most immediate, stand-out feature was a large tub set into the floor. The floor was tile, but the walls of the tub were dark wood, maybe Mahogany? Danny only knew about that type of wood because it made his Dad’s allergies act up. And he’d learned a bit about it in shop class.
The tub was big enough that Danny could probably sit in the middle and his head would be under the water. There was a ring of benches around the semi-circle tub. The bathroom was shaped like a circle, with large windows all around. White curtains filtered the mint green light that streamed in from outside. It bathed the room in a strange hue. Opposite the door was a toilet and to the left was a series of two sinks. Hung on the wall behind each were large, ornate mirrors. There was a rack to the side that held many white and dark blue towels, all folded to perfection.
As he left the bathroom, Danny wondered idly who all had put everything together. He’d done that about a lot of things, recently. He had a lot of people to thank.
The next door was off to his left, along the end wall of the ‘L.’ It was two doors, actually. A set of doubles that were white with silver accents. When Danny reached for the handle, his hand came back covered in dust. He wiped it off on his jeans before venturing inside. Sam noticed he was up to something and followed behind.
“Wow,” Danny mused.
The room before them was long, with floor-to-ceiling windows at the end. They were covered by light curtains that seemed to drift ever-so-slightly, even though Danny couldn’t feel any wind. The walls were a soft baby-blue. Straight ahead was a marble table with plush-looking chairs set around it. A vase of flowers was atop the table, again various colors of blue. Danny wasn’t sure if any flowers in the Real World were even naturally blue, so they must be GZ flowers? He was probably wrong about that. He remembers hearing something about blue roses, once upon a time. Or was that from a video game?
“This looks like a meeting room.” Said Sam.
At the other end of the room was a grand fireplace, though for now it was without a flame. In front of it was a long, wide table. It matched the style of the smaller one but on a much grander scale. This one was also surrounded by chairs, about six on each side and one at the table’s head. There was no chair on the fireplace side.
Danny looked up and was almost disappointed. The ceiling was slightly slanted to the left and had some stylized rafters, but it wasn’t the scene of stars he’d expected. It would seem the only room with such a roof was the ball room.
“Done! Where’d you guys go?” Tucker shouted. Footsteps.
“Whoa,” He marveled as he entered the room. He looked around, absorbing the scene before him. Danny looked away from the scene to see Tucker’s outfit. It wasn’t as much of a… statement, as Sam’s, but tasteful.
His shirt was a muted orange-yellow, with darker embroidery around the collar and the edges of the short sleeves. It was quite long, just a bit shorter than a dress would need to be to maintain any kind of modesty. Maybe tunic was a more accurate word? Danny pulled back on his memories from the books he used to read in middle school. Tucker got him into Dungeons and Dragons for a short stint, and he’d read all the manuals he could find cover-to-cover.
Danny was hit with the epiphany that this kinda felt like he was in the middle of a D&D campaign, when the group gets new outfits after starting a new plotline. Hm.
Underneath the tunic Tucker had chosen an off-white shirt with big sleeves. The collar of it just barely peeked out from under that of the tunic. His pants were mostly the same as Sam’s. But in a rich brown. The pant legs were gathered below his knees, turning into something almost like leggings. He wore a pair of black flats.
And, of course, Tucker had a cape of his own. His was a medium brown, and draped off of his left shoulder. The belt which held it in place went under his right arm, around his chest. Tucker did a half-spin, watching the fabric ripple.
“Nice!” Sam shouted. She and Tucker high-fived. He grinned at the praise. Tucker abruptly turned to Danny. He almost gave himself whiplash, spinning that quick. He schooled his expression into something serious.
“Hypothetically, what would happen if you phased earrings into my ears and then let them turn tangible?” He asked, straight out of left field. It took a moment for the question to even compute.
“You… want me to pierce your ears?” Danny said to make sure he’d heard correctly. Danny didn’t care about Tucker wanting his ears pierced (honestly he’d probably rock it) he was just a bit hesitant it was just the method he proposed.
“Yeah! I thought maybe if we did it that way, it wouldn’t hurt as much.” Tucker shrugged. It seemed his earlier enthusiasm had faded.
“Honestly I’m not really sure what it’d do.” Danny offered. He typically avoided turning things tangible inside other things. But what harm could it really do?
“Let’s try it!”

-> Taking Kunikida's notebook hostage. 18+
Tumblr media
You could tell by the twitch in Kunikida's eye that he was livid. Beyond pissed off. He was already four minutes behind for his commute to work, yet he couldn't leave. Why? You were basically holding his precious notebook hostage, holding it tightly to your chest as you stared at him defiantly.
Kunikida took a deep breath through his nose, closing his eyes briefly in an attempt to calm himself. "Please, give me my notebook."
"No."
His teeth clenched. "Give me my notebook."
"You want me to give you your notebook back? You’ll have to make me," were the words you spoke next, your lips curling up when Kunikida's face goes completely blank, his green eyes just boring into you.
"I'm going to ask you one more time," his tone is even, though still with the bit of edge that had a chill going up your spine. "Please, give me the notebook. I am already late for work."
That struck a very deep nerve inside of you, your chest blooming with anger as you snarled at him. "Work, work, work! It's all about your fucking job! Well, you're not getting your notebook back, so suck it!"
As you turned on your heel and stormed away from Kunikida, he watched you with wide eyes, his mouth slightly opened as he is hit with a suddenly realization. He saw the hurt which flashed in your eyes before you walked away, and that made him surge forward to follow you, right into your bedroom.
He knew exactly what you were doing by acting like a brat and talking back to him. You were purposely trying to instigate a reaction from him, to make him act, and he was more than inclined to do so.
"What are you still doing here?" you asked, a bite to your voice as you glared at him. Kunikida closed the bedroom door and you watched as he slipped his glasses off his face, setting them down carefully on their rightful place on the nightstand. "Don't you have a job to do? I'm sure Dazai is waiting."
Kunikida is silent as you continued to huff and puff, keeping his eye on his notebook still held against your chest. He slipped off his vest, hanging it on its hanger and putting it away. He he started to looses up the red ribbon around his collar and you just furrowed your eyebrows at him, taking a few steps back as he finally approached you.
"You- What are you-" His large hand is then suddenly clamping over your mouth, successfully shutting you up as he leaned down to stare straight into your wide eyes.
"You better shut that pretty little mouth before I put it to work, doll."
Another chill goes down your spine, your grip on the notebook finally loosening up and it begins to fall. Kunikida skillfully catches it, quickly holding it up high as you suddenly leap forward in an attempt to grab it.
"No! Give it back!" you yelled almost desperately, and the look that Kunikida fixes you with makes you freeze in place.
"You are in no position to make orders here, doll," he says to you, setting down his notebook on the dresser before turning back to you. "You wanted my attention, right? Now you got it. Take off your clothes and get on the bed."
You couldn't contain your glee, a huge megawatt smile growing on your face as you did as told. You couldn't ever defy him, not when he was like this. It made your heart race, skin tingling with anticipation.
It felt so good to finally feel Kunikida's warm skin on yours, to feel his strong hands hold you, claim you, as his. He wasn't rough with you, no, but as always, you were pliant under him. Always so reactive to his touch, his fingers expertly pinching your nipples, making you moan deeply against his lips as he kisses you deeply.
You missed him so much.
You clung onto him tightly, taking his kisses in earnest, and soon his cock as he finally, finally pushes himself inside of you, moaning deeply together with you.
"Shit," he curses while you whine, your head tilted back against the pillow as he slowly started thrusting in and out of you. He took your hands from his shoulders, his fingers lacing with yours as he held them down against the bed. As he continued to slap his hips against yours, fucking you hard and deep like you deserve, the sun shining from the window reflected off the rings you each had on your respective ring fingers.
"D-Doppo..." you moaned his name deeply, whimpering which each thrust he made into your heat, the pleasure he never fails to bring you making your mind go hazy. All you could feel was him, after what seemed to be so long.
You've been so lonely, your husband so caught up with work. He would come home late, and too tired to do much with you. You will always love him for how dedicated he is but... you were a priority too. You had to do something to finally have his attention back on you. What better way was there than to take his notebook? It obviously worked.
He was holding you so close to him, making love to you, his wife. It's what you deserved, and he knew that, and he knew that he has been neglecting you, taking your love for granted. It was shameful of him, really, but he planned to make it up to you.
But first...
"Come on," he grunted, sitting upright before he pulled you up, making you straddle his lap. You wrapped your arms around him tightly, his hands finding purchase on your hips as you started to ride him. You matched your thrusts with his, tossing your head back when he presses a thumb to your clit, rubbing it in tight circles. "Come on, need you to cum..."
"I love you," you cried out, looking at him with blown out, teary eyes, your lips swollen and plump. Kunikida couldn't resist kissing you again.
It didn't take much longer for your orgasm to finally wash over your body, your mouth wide open in a silent scream as your body tensed up, toes curling and your mind going blank for a second. Kunikida continued to fuck you through your orgasm, soon coming to his own release. He didn't think twice before cumming deep inside of you, his face pressed against your chest as he cursed and grunted repeatedly.
You fell back on the bed after Kunikida pulled out of you, heaving as you tried to catch your breath. Kunikida fell on his back beside you, equally tuckered out, his face sheening with sweat.
"Wow..." you whispered before covering your mouth, giggling softly.
Kunikida just sighed beside you, turning his head to look at you fondly, and apologetically. "I've been a terrible husband."
Your mouth fell open. You didn't want him to think that! "Wait... no-"
"I've been neglecting you. For that, I am terribly sorry." Kunikida just continued on and you just shook your head quickly, moving your hands to cover his mouth.
"You are not a terrible husband," you told him firmly before pulling your hands. You both frowned. "I just... I missed you a lot. I know you are dedicated to your work and I love you so much for that but... I don't know, it just made me feel like I wasn't... a priority..."
Kunikida's entire body stiffened, his mouth falling open. "H-how does that not make me a terrible husband?"
"Because!" you exclaimed, waving your hands a bit wildly. "You aren't! Every day I wake up so proud to be your wife! I just... had a moment of insecurity..." You chewed on your bottom lip, knowing that you probably weren't making sense. But it was how you truly felt, and you wanted to be honest with him.
He seemed to understand it, Kunikida nodding his head before he sat up, looking around the room. "I need my phone..."
You blinked. "For what?"
"I'm taking time off," Kunikida answered and your jaw dropped. "My wife needs her husband now," he continues, glancing at you with a small smile. "Plus, we need to have a conversation about this, so something like this won't happen again."
You smiled back at him. "So your notebook won't be held hostage?" you teased, giggling when his eyebrow twitched.
"Yes. Exactly."
You giggled again, leaning forward and pressing a sweet kiss on his cheek. "I love you."
"I love you too."

"Hey Taik," your voice echoed through the large house, from your room, down the stairs and into the living room. "Have you seen my DBZ hoodie anywhere?"
You don't receive an immediate answer, so you go to look for yourself. After a quiet walk down the stairs, peering around every corner for him, you find him sitting in the living room, sitting on the couch, in a very... awkward position.
"Are you okay?" you were concerned. You've never seen his leg bend like that before.
Taika's head snaps right to you, and he looks speechless. He's trying to come up with something. "I'm great. Just chilling. Watching..." he looks to the television screen. The television wasn't even turned on.
"Go on," you encourage, now leaning on the guardrail to the steps and tilting your head. He's still quiet.
After another long, insane moment of hesitation, he finally picks up a bowl from the ground. "Grapes?" He offered them out to you, and all you did was just stare at them.
"No, I'm good," you hummed, eyebrows furrowed while Taika still tried hard to play it cool. "While you were having a stroke, I'm assuming, I think I lost my Dragon Ball Z hoodie. Have you seen it at all, or did it get mixed in with your laundry?"
"Uh, no. Nope. I don't even like that show. Sorry," he looked away and up at the ceiling like a purposely oblivious little boy. You were starting to catch on. Suspicious, but you didn't have enough evidence.
"It's hard to miss, Taika. You seriously didn't notice it going into the wash with your clothes? At all?" you held your hands up, and he began to twiddle with his thumbs.
"Nuh-uh," his answer was stout. He was still avoiding eye contact with you. You gave up.
"Fine," you huff, then drop down from the final step. "I'm just gonna go have a look for myself. You know, just in case." You walked right by him. His position didn't waver, except for his eyes that were bouncing all over the place in order to still avoid you.
Instead of actually digging through laundry, you hid behind a corner, and lurked there to casually stalk your boyfriend. He was still acting weird when you left. He would check over his shoulder from time to time, and after a minute or so, you finally saw him get up and start digging through the couch cushions. He didn't make much of a sound, but he certainly found something that he liked, because he picked something up, and he had the biggest smile you had ever seen on his face.
All it took was a little glimpse of red-orange fabric and you knew. He had your hoodie.
You burst from your hiding place instantly. "Taika David Cohen, I know what you're hiding!" You shout at him and instantly he's a deer in headlights, but not for long. His eyes never moved from yours and there was a brief moment of silence. He juked the couch corner once, at first thinking he should run to the kitchen, but ultimately made a break for the stairs, hoping to make it to the bedroom with the only lock. You, like a dope, ran right after him.
His long legs helped carry him, but you had unwithering speed and determination. At the end, he almost had you. His hand was on the doorknob and he was just about to slam the door shut to lock, but you pushed through like a tank and plowed into him. The force you had knocked him back onto the bed, but the hoodie was still in his hands. You reached for it, but he scrambled to the other side of it. He didn't notice where the bed ended, and fell to the ground as a result. He picked himself up, thankfully unhurt and unphased by the whole chase, and the thing you wanted was still in his grasp.
"Taika," you were panting on the other side of the bed, and you outstretched a frustrated hand. "Give me the hoodie."
"Absolutely not," he wasn't breathing as hard, and he hugged the hoodie close to his chest.
"This is the third time this week! Give me the damn hoodie! I just washed it!" You shake your hand to add emphasis, but all he does is just look at it with a disgruntled attitude.
"It's your fault for being gullible and not watching your things better," he stuck his tongue out at you, childishly. The longer this went on, the more huffy you became. All you wanted to do was relax in your favorite hoodie and maybe cuddle a little bit! That's all!
"Okay, that was a low blow from the biggest procrastinator on earth. And, like you said, you don't even like Dragon Ball! Why the fuck do you want it so bad!?" It was a petty argument, sure, but you were a bit hardheaded, so why not drag this out a little longer?
"I could like it!" He shouted and spluttered, trying to come up with excuses. "And it's comfortable. It's a massive size!" He held it out in his hands, just looking at it, and his eyes lit up. "We could share!"
"No."
His idea was stomped out quickly, and he went back to pouting. He wouldn't give it up yet.
You sighed, getting tired of trying to find a solution. Your eyes started to trail, looking for something, anything, to call it even. Just to your luck, you landed on the closet.
"Give me your One Piece sweater," you said, and folded your arms.
Taika, still admiring the piece of clothing in his arms, became suddenly baffled and looked right at you. The look he gave you said it all. "No!" That word was popular with him today.
"Why not?" You said, eyes lingering over to the closet again. "What's stopping me?"
His whole body tensed and his jaw shifted. It was a sudden standoff, just waiting for the other to make a move. At first, he tried to make up more excuses, but you taunted him like Chris Tucker in Rush Hour. With every stumble and fumble he made with his words, you played the shadow game with him.
When he was at his lowest, you bolted to the closet. He dropped your hoodie and ran right after you, just as the closet door swung open. Your hand was centimeters away from the hanger you needed, but Taika came crashing right into first, bumping you right out of the way with his hip. With plan b failed, you ran right to where he dropped your hoodie and managed to snag it in seconds just by the sleeve.
In your moment of glory, you were cocky enough to try and run out the door. Taika had been anticipating that move, ever since he got his One Piece sweater and saw you dive for your hoodie, he was waiting in front of the door. So, when you turned on your heel and made a mad dash, you ran right into Taika and his hand had grabbed onto the collar of the shirt.
Taika tried to yank it from your hands, and you gasped, holding on tight. He tried again and again and again, but you kept holding. Neither of you were noticed that the fabric was slowly starting to rip.
"Taika! It's not yours!" you yell, pulling back.
"I know, but I like it! It fits me!" he yelled back, and yanked it.
Childish taunts went back and forth, and both of you were both talking at the same time for a point in time. The room started to swirl, and eventually the strings keeping the hoodie together grew tired of the fabric and it just...
Snapped.
There was a piercing rip, and both you and Taika stumbled back. He left with the entire collar in his hands, soft string still dwindling from it and hanging from under his nails. You broke away with the rest of the hoodie. Once you realized what happened, it fell from your hands. You kind of just... looked at it. Your hand came up to cup over your mouth and your other arm cradled just beneath your chest.
Taika was talking to you, but you just tuned it out. When you finally looked back up at Taika, you had a look on your face that he only saw during actual, serious fights. He had royally pissed you off this time.
At least he had enough sense to move out of the way when you walked out of the room. He still had the collar in his hands, and he watched you go downstairs.
You needed to cool off for a little bit. You went to the kitchen, grabbed a bottle of water and sat down on the couch. You curled your legs up to your knees and turned the television on. You weren't really in the mood to watch anything, so you endlessly flipped through the stations, reading the descriptions and quietly wondering how some of these shows even made it at all.
You hadn't noticed it, but Taika had summoned up enough courage to come downstairs. He brought a peace offering with him. He slowly crept to the living room, staying out of your peripheral vision for the time being until he was behind you and the couch. He cautiously came to wrap his arms around you, making you pause from your channel flipping and he buried his nose into the crook of your neck. He let the thing he brought slide onto your knees. It was his One Piece sweater.
He murmured a soft, "I'm sorry," into your tender skin and kissed at it.
You couldn't stay mad at him, no matter how hard you tried. Your hand went up into his hair and you massaged his scalp the best you could with one hand. "It's fine... but there's one thing you can do to make it up to me." You pulled away from him and folded your arms. He sighed, giving you a soft frown, but he only knew it was right.
"I'll buy you a new one..."

Out of the Woods chapter 4
To Sam, the feeling of washing off a rough night’s worth of grime was enough of a relief to justify being stuck in a Casper High Ravens Cheer Camp ’21 t-shirt. She was too jittery to really care, pacing the Benson’s kitchen until the doorbell rang.
It was clear from Jazz’s appearance on Star’s doorstep that she had rushed over. Her red hair was tied up in a messy bun and it looked like she had just thrown a sweater over her pajamas. Sam couldn’t take in her appearance in depth, as the older Fenton embraced her the moment the made eye contact.
Sam wasn’t a hugger, never had been. Danny and Tucker were the exceptions, but she would give Jazz a pass. She was panting, and didn’t say anything for a long moment, until Sam hugged her back.
“Okay,” Jazz muttered, loosening her grip but not letting go. “Paulina’s Facebook message wasn’t very detailed. Fill me in.”
“Kitchen,” Sam said quietly, noting that Paulina and Star seemed to be engrossed in a conversation of their own. “I promised I’d tell them something but I need to…work out what, exactly.”
She told Jazz what she remembered, as the latter shifted from worried, to more worried, to angry, and back again as she leaned against the kitchen sink. Sam was pacing again as she recounted it all: Guys in White facility, probably drugs, the boys were still there, and whether or not they knew Phantom’s identity for sure wasn’t clear. Her thoughts became mixed and confused as she got to the end of it, not even knowing how to parse anything that M said to her.
She just looked at Jazz.
“I promise I didn’t want to leave without them,” she said, her voice shaking, “Jazz, I promise—“
“I know,” Jazz told her, finally moving to put her hand on Sam’s shoulder. “Just…let’s make a plan. How’d you get out? Maybe we can start from there.”
***
Day four.
Sam had properly assured her reputation at the GIW facility—difficult and uncooperative. She would eat, but not enough to keep her from puking up any medication they tried to force into her. She wouldn’t talk. She wouldn’t move. Her goal was simple: be as uninteresting to study as possible.
She was half asleep on the bare cot they shoved into the corner of her cell when M walked in. She didn’t knock anymore.
“Samantha,” M said. It was her only form of greeting, no ‘hello’ or ‘morning,’ it was like she was reminding herself who she was speaking to. As usual, M’s eyes were drawn to the breakfast tray at the edge of the cot. She sighed her long-suffering sigh.
Sam just stared at the wall behind M’s head, her eyes still heavy-lidded.
“You’re not wrong in that we can’t force you to eat, our infirmary staff isn’t capable. Though…” she lifted her clipboard, taking the pencil she kept behind her ear and scribbling a note, “the fact that you are this alert and in good health despite days without food or water is not…insignificant to our research.”
Sam hated whenever M dropped a large bit of information—it always managed to make her tense in a way that M noticed and smirked at.
“Your friends are just as uncooperative as you are, but I’m sure that doesn’t surprise you,” M said, “so we are going to have to start being more firm in our methods. We don’t want to hurt you, Samantha, that isn’t our goal.”
But we’ll do as we need, M didn’t say. She left, and Sam waited until she could no longer hear her heels clicking before she dared to move.
She needed a plan, and she needed one now. Trying to get out of this door was a no-go, it was locked electronically. They’d attempted to take her out of the cell for a number of reasons (experiments), but up until then she’d decided it wasn’t worth the risk. She didn’t know her way around here, she had no idea where Tucker was being kept and if they truly thought Danny was Phantom they’d probably have at least a dozen security measures around him. There didn’t seem to be a clever way out.
So what she was left with was to do something stupid, crazy, or both. With her mind lingering on M’s brief mention of an infirmary, and her eyes on the glass window in the center of the door, she decided to go with both.
“Okay,” she whispered to herself, “…okay.”
It took two punches to break through, and she wasn’t able to hold in her scream. Her right hand was soon soaked with blood, lacerations trailing up to her elbow and flowing freely. Fuck. Fuck fuck fuck terrible idea.
The electronic lock beeped and M stormed back in, stopping in shock.
“What’ve you done to yourself?!”
Sam couldn’t answer, her breaths were coming fast and uneven, and she felt like gagging. M grabbed her shoulder, forcing her out of her cell and hurriedly grabbing a spare on coat hanging outside of another room. She covered Sam’s arm with it, and Sam tried to use her other hand to apply pressure but all her brain could supply her with was ‘God this hurts so much more than I thought’ which was not helpful to coordinating small actions.
“Out of the way, to the side please,” M commanded the various other GIW agents that found themselves in the winding hallways. When she and Sam passed, she called back, “and get a biohazard clean up started in cell sixteen!”
Unlike the cells, the door to the infirmary was just a door. The inside was still a pristine white, accented with stainless steel tables, more of those uncomfortable cots, and cabinet after cabinet of equipment and medications.
A tall black man in a white lab coat, a doctor, turned around when he heard the door open, and his eyebrows raised immediately. He was, inexplicably, also wearing sunglasses.
“What happened?”
“Ask her,” M said derisively, “she’s one of the ones taking a vow of silence, though.”
“Sit up here, let me see,” the doctor said, and his voice was gentle in comparison to M’s and really any other Sam heard in days. She did as he said, pulling herself up on an exam table feeling faint and nauseous. The doctor peeled the lab coat off her arm, and it hadn’t done much—the gashes were still there, the blood was just smeared onto the rest of her skin: “good lord. This will need stitches.”
“How long will that take?” M asked.
“Give me an hour, if she’s cooperative,” the doctor replied. M just grunted in response, frustrated.
“I’ll be back, we’ll have to switch her cell,” she said finally, turning on her heel and slamming the door behind her.
Sam couldn’t stop herself from shaking. The lack of food and sleep probably wasn’t doing her any favors at this point.
“Try to hold still if you can,” the doctor told her, his voice again gentle. “I can give you some local, it might help.”
Sam allowed it, but felt like it was a sign of weakness. Her arm slowly went numb, and the doctor got to work suturing. Silence overtook the infirmary, only the hushed sound of ventilation and the buzzing of a refrigerator remained. It was Sam’s firm belief that no agent here could be trusted—but while she was in a compromising situation (of her own doing, obviously), she decided to test the waters, to get some more information.
“Do you have a name, or a letter?” She asked, her voice barely above a murmur.
“Ah, she speaks,” he chuckled, a completely alien sound coming from someone in white. “Dr. G, officially…now, a question for you—how on earth did you do this?”
Sam didn’t answer, instead just watching him continue stitching her up, weirded out that she couldn’t quite feel it.
“If your coworkers decide to try and dissect me and my friends, are you the one who does that, or is that someone else’s specialty?” She was looking at him now, trying to make eye contact as she spoke and feeling a strange satisfaction when the question made him squirm a bit.
“I don’t think…” Dr. G started speaking before he had anything to say, Sam observed, “that’s not something you need to be concerned about.”
“Are you new here?” Sam asked, and Dr. G finally met her gaze—or she assumed he did. Sunglasses. “Your two field agents, O and K, they threaten shit like that to anyone who will listen.”
“They can say what they need to in order to get information,” Dr. G told her. He was stitch up her last open gash—Sam counted almost twenty sutures so far. “What they can actually do may be different from what they tell you.”
“So you’re all just cops, then.”
Dr. G turned away from her, rifling through one of the cabinets until her found two boxes of sterile gauze, placing them on the metal tray where Sam was resting her arm.
“I think—“
“Did you take that oath?” Sam interrupted. He seemed to be used to it, starting to wrap her arm in the gauze. “When you became a doctor?”
“I did.”
“‘First, do no harm’?” Sam asked. Dr. G nodded as he tied off the gauze, and Sam knew he was likely to call M back, and she’d soon find herself back behind a solid steel door. Her heart rate picked up, and her eye flashed toward the infirmary door, the only accessible one she’d seen in days. “I’m sorry, I didn’t.”
He looked at her with a tilted head, about to speak when Sam summoned all her strength to kick him squarely in the chest, knocking him backward. He brought down two of the metal trays with him, creating a series of clangs that wouldn’t go unnoticed. She scrambled off of the exam table, clumsily opening the door with her uninjured hand, and she was in the hallway.
***
“It’s…” Sam murmured, feeling her thoughts become obscured by static as her headache began anew, “I hit my head at some point so I just have pieces. I’m sorry.”
“It could come back,” Jazz nodded. She’d spent the conversation growing more and more concerned, but at twenty she wasn’t nearly as prone to freaking out as she used to be. Jazz had a way of keeping her thoughts straight and organized that Sam sometimes found enviable. “Where is this place?”
“In the woods outside of town is all I know,” Sam said. She did eventually begin eating, forcing her to take pauses. She looked back toward the living room, “those two found me on the road last night, we should probably ask which one.”
“And we’re gonna discuss the cover story you’ll tell them about why you were there,” Jazz said. Her eyes narrowed and her gaze became pointed, “but I need you to tell me the real reason why you were there.”
“Jazz, I—“
“Is it maybe that thing you assured Danny was nothing?”
Sam couldn’t answer her honestly, and she knew Jazz—whose little brother was missing—deserved honesty. Her mind flashed back to the infirmary, looking at tiny droplets of her own blood with an almost imperceptible green film swirled into it like an oil slick. That time two weeks ago, when a superficial burn healed within hours, something Danny noticed and asked about immediately. He wanted to talk about it and she very much did not—all of the unknowns made her skin crawl.
“They think Tucker and I are…something,” Sam admitted. “Not like Danny but…not—not human, maybe? I don’t know.”
“How would that even happen?” Jazz asked.
“We think…” Sam began, needing to pause to think. It was mostly Tucker’s theory, and he’d actually made a chart that may or may not still be under his bed. “When Danny turned on the portal, the doors weren’t closed. And after that your parents said—”
“The whole lab was contaminated,” Jazz finished, “and that would include you guys.”
“No clue why it’s only a thing now,” Sam told her. Her hunger finally got the better of her, and she stole an apple from the bowl on the kitchen counter. “I bet those cronies intend to figure it out, whatever that takes…”
Sam was mid-bite of her apple and Jazz mid-rant about government overreach when Star’s doorbell ring.
“Shit!” Sam hissed, and she scanned the kitchen for a hiding place. “You never saw me,” she told Jazz firmly.
“I—okay.”
***
Star jumped at the sound of her own doorbell, the tension leaving her muscles in one burst. She turned on the couch to look, but didn’t get up.
“Delivery or something?” Paulina asked. Star shook her head.
“Not expecting anything,” she stood up at last, “not unless mom went on another Amazon binge, but she usually waits until she’s home.”
When Star finally opened the door, Kwan stood on her doorstep, hand frozen in place ready to ring the bell again.
“Good morning,” he said, the bit of uncertainty in his tone telling Star he didn’t know how welcome he was. “Uh…we missed you at the party last night and—you know, I think your phone is off and I was just…worried.”
“Oh…” Star shook herself out of fog, actually parsing through what she and Paulina had been intending to do last night, before it devolved into insanity. Kwan’s stare was intense and sincere, and Star noticed sweat covering the front of his gray t-shirt.
“Star?”
“Yeah—um…I got sick on the way there so Lina turned around. I didn’t plug my phone in so it died,” she didn’t lie as well as Paulina did, but she was getting better at it. Kwan seemed to accept the answer, so she decided to redirect. “Did you…run here?”
“Oh, yeah,” he looked down at his t-shirt, his face reddening, “we took Dash’s car last night and he kinda overdid it, and with everything going on I didn’t wanna wait to check if you guys were okay. It’s not that far, only like…nine blocks?”
“Only nine blocks—Jesus, Kwan,” Star stepped aside, gesturing for him to come inside, an opportunity he accepted, “go get some water, at least. There’s bottles in the fridge.”
“Thanks,” he kissed her on the cheek, and disappeared through the swinging door to the kitchen.
“Aww,” Paulina called from the couch, her face only a little bit mocking. Star’s eyes narrowed. “What? He’s sweet.”
“Yeah,” Star smiled faintly.
A chorus of yelps from the kitchen caught both Star and Paulina off-guard, and both of them made their way through the door, Star being more worried that something was broken.
Kwan and Manson were staring at each other, while Jazz Fenton just looked terribly overwhelmed. Star watched Kwan’s face go through what could only be called a journey—shock, confusion, back to shock, and finally happiness.
“Sam!” He said, and Star remembered the two’s weird temporary friendship just by taking in the joy in his voice. “You’re alive! What happened to your face?!”
“Cut myself shaving,” Sam replied. Kwan didn’t mind the sarcasm—Star didn’t either, honestly, it meant she was feeling better.
“Where are Fenton and Foley?”
“She was just about to tell us, actually,” Paulina cut in. Manson’s jaw tightened, and the glare she shot at Paulina could’ve frozen beer. “Weren’t you, Manson?”
