Finished the second pair of mitts for the friends we’re going to visit next week! Whew!

This is the Kenton Mitts pattern by Bristol Ivy and it was.. interesting. I’ve done some tuck stitches and dip stitches before, and I liked the tuck stitch in this but not so much the dip stitch panel; it was hard to get the tension right. (I thought it was a cable when I bought the pattern.) I think it would’ve worked much better if I’d done it in a nice woolly yarn like it’s written for instead of the superwash I went with (chosen for the color and name, it’s Dragon Hoard Yarn’s Lore Fingering in ‘Goblin Market’). Anyways, I hope friend likes them!

Here they are with the pair for other friend, the Ironwork Mitts in Berroco Ultra Alpaca. Both patterns and yarns picked to try to match each person’s style and favorite colors, plus some fun connections to hobbies or other favorite things of theirs.

I ended up keeping two things for myself out of everything I made last year: the samples for Retiarius and Spurdog. The latter I’ve worn out and gotten compliments on, though I’ve only really styled the former and then gave it up. Anyhow, the actual secret to wearing this type of shawl even if you’re usually very masculine and minimalist in terms of personal style is to embody the attitude that you’re about to rob a train. You get all kinds of compliments.

If you're on Ravelry an interested, I finished my mom's slippers* and wrote up the pattern. I will absolutely be making these again for myself (and more for her next time she asks). It knits up pretty quick and they stay on really well - I hate when slippers are too loose and fall down.

I loved knitting in primary school and was pretty decent at it, but in secondary i just kinda forgot about it for 20 years or so. Decided to pick it up again to keep myself occupied during pregnancy leave, starting with some simple patterns to get back into it.
