The Two Princes Podcast Season 3: Overall Review

Things I Liked/Loved:

I absolutely love that there isn’t a single straight character in this entire podcast. I just find that so awesome good for them

the songs give me L I F E I am so grateful that this season was a musical like it was amazing the entire cast is SO. DAMN. T A L E N T E D!!!!!!!!

Hi I have such a high respect for the voice actors they did such a good job. Its not easy only having your voice to convey emotion without the help of facial expressions or body language. So yeah hats off to them (even if I found some of the line delivery awkward or just plain weird)

The plot was actually???? really intense this season??? I was not ready for that??? Like the previous 2 seasons were kind of predictable in a way where there wasn’t too much suspense but this season????? Like the threat wasn’t fully revealed until like episode 4/5 out of 7 so for like half of the season we didn’t fully know what the stakes were. I just thought this season was the most original and engaging plot wise. Good for them!!

Bruh the angst!!!! There was so much angst!!!!! It was so nice to see the voice actors show their range and see the characters be more dynamic than they have been! I loved it!

The constant references to the previous 2 seasons. Like they didn’t just forget the events that happened and they acknowledged how the events of the previous 2 seasons effected their present. Like the part with how Amir was afraid of turning into his father. Or how Rupert confronted Amir for being totally being on board with giving up his most prized possession to a sorceress without a second thought but not trust another prince who can make anyone burst into song. I just really appreciated that.

WE GOT CHARACTER DEVELOPEMENT!!!!! WE GOT GOOD, CONSISTENT CHARACTER DEVELOPEMENT!!! Cecily kept her funny personality but she got real and serious when it came to confronting Joan’s dad and she got to be angry and confront Joan for the way she treated her!! Joan and her dad got closure and we got to see her be vulnerable in contrast to her strong demeanor like in the last 2 seasons!! PERCY got to grow from being a threat to the Heartland to wanting to protect it and the princes!!! All while keeping his funny, dramatic and annoying personality we all know and love. Barabbas backstory!!! Chamberlin backstory!!! It was really wonderful to see!!!

the intro-recaps were really funny I liked them

Cheerios AND Lego said Gay Rights so that was great

the different music transitions were great

sound design was phenomenal as always good for them

Things I Did Not Like/HATE:

the pacing was pretty fast, at least in the first 2 episodes

THE FUCKING NAME DARLING!!!!!! Why did they name him DARLING?????? I really hate that. It could have been anything else, but nope, its Darling

The lack of Amir perspective. When I saw that there was gonna be a new prince that was gonna shower Rupert with attention I really thought we were gonna get more of Amir’s perspective. The stories typically revolves around Rupert and his thoughts, so I wanted to see Amir’s thoughts more often. Like we got the sneaking into Darling’s room scene and the Good Guys Finish First (Reprise) but that was it. 

It just feel like they push Amir back when it comes to development in the story. They always focus on Rupert more than Amir and I like, wish we had more focus on him for a change 

The serious, total lack of the Queen moms. Hi this was their wedding season and we didnt see Lavinia or Attossa??? I miss them and was really looking forward to seeing them interact with the boys. Sad boi hours

The fact that they named the villain character fucking Despair. I just, don’t like that, a lot

This season was a little more, PG than normal??? Darling saying that thing about his thighs??? Chamberlin’s questionable book choice??? THAT LINE ABOUT “I CAN’T WAIT FOR TONIGHT”?????????? Like, why? It changed the tone of the season, made it different than the other 2. Like???? The other 2 seasons didn’t have any lines like that before so I just, wasn’t ready for that

If Rupert and Amir are the only sons of Lavinia and Attossa of the East and West, and they’re off ruling their own kingdom, whose gonna rule the East and West when Lavinia and Attossa can’t any more? I’ve been wondering that since season 1 and I’m a little frustrated that we don’t get any closure to that.

the motheR FUCKING WEDDING SCENE. They have been building up the series to this moment for like 2 years and thats what we get? The scene was barely 2-3 minutes long???? They tried to play it off as “they have really bad luck so lets just do this as quick as possible before something else comes to interrupt it, jaja lol” but.... no. Then to top it all off Amir says that really weird and awkward at the end and just ruins the very short scene we had. (I just hate that line with all my being, you know the one) I just feel like if they paced that episode a little differently and they just didn’t have certain, unnecessary details/lines (again, you know the ones) we would have gotten a longer, more satisfying wedding scene. And I get that they could only fit like 2 songs per episode but I still wanted them to sing their vows and not just skip to the end. I’m just, really disappointed with that

where the fuck where Sam and Diane? I want to know if they got together. I know this season was for the gays and the gays exclusively but I can’t be the only one who wants to know what happened to them

I get that a lot of these things that I’m annoyed/upset about didnt happen because they probably had no room/time for it within the main plot of the season and the limited time they had to tell the story, but something just felt, missing to me

The official Heartland royal family portrait is not only Rumir and Wenselaus but ALSO Porridge, Fitzroy and Spike the unicorn goat dont even try to convince me otherwise

Barabas and Wenselaus chaotic grandson/grandpa duo causing general mayhem around the castle. Amir hates this but Rupert thinks it's kinda sweet

Percy Jr is the MOST extra knight in the Heartland and it takes everything in Joan's being not to completely deck him

Like Percy would always show up fashionable late to training, find a way to style up his armor, gets distracted by flirting with cute knights and Joan is internally screaming the whole time cause if she kicks him out of the army she'll never hear the end of it from Cecily

Cecily is 100% the kind of gf to being home every animal she sees on the side of the road and beg Joan to let them keep it

Amir AND Joan are little spoon don't even @ me

Since the north, east and west had gay princes there HAS to be a lesbian and/or trans princess/queen. For balance.
