anyways i am feeling kinda brave today so im gonna share a potentially unpopular taylor swift hot take. when i was talking to my friend yesterday about ttpd i realised that i kinda have a similar problem with the anthology as i do with evermore.

like don't get me wrong, both have absolute gems (willow, tolerate it, long story short, gold rush and NBNC from evermore are great and i love the albatross, so high school, the prophecy black dog, manuscript etc) but i think both collections (bc anthology is not an album) suffer because they came out connected to a much superior more cohesive work, and both almost feel like rejects from the body of work that proceeded it.

I definitely think she chose right with what she released in the official album cuz there were so many good songs based purely off first impressions that it was hard to choose my favorites and the second half was good but not particularly memorable as a whole (love The Prophecy and thanK you aIMee but other than that they weren’t as dazzling). Might just be cuz I’m new music tired and I’ve been focusing too hard on lyrics so hopefully it gets better on the second listen (gonna need a break tho)

Just saw a guy on tiktok reference the "glup shitto effect" and show the "tweet" (tumblr post) that first referenced glup shitto and bro kinda had a point when he said that the new taylor swift album is more easter eggs for than fans than an album everyone can just put on and listen to. And that's cool! If star wars and marvel can make things that are catered to the fans who know all the lore then taylor swift absolutely can too! But in the same way that some people don't want to learn the backstory and lore for glup shitto in star wars to watch whatever new show or movie, some people don't want to learn all the taylor swift lore to listen to the new album
