I've been listening to I am in Eskew and The Silt verses simultaneously, and it's so interesting to see the parallels and similar themes. Like IAIE ep 11, when David's coworkers get fed to a burlap sack, versus TSV ep 7, where Paige's company does a mass sacrifice to a god. Or Eskew's earthworms versus the Silt Verses' Waxen Scrivener Saint. And the offhand mention of the worship of "bloody, feuding gods" in eskew.

Hi, I don’t know if there’s a place to send questions about episode issues anywhere so apologies if this isn’t the right place to be: a friend and I have been listening to season 1 but we’re finding that across all platforms on both our ends episode 14 is completely silent after 7 minutes of ads. I’m fairly certain I’d remember if episode 14 was without audio since my first listen to TSV and the transcript obviously contains content of the episode, so I’m sending a message out of curiosity about what’s going on—that is if you all know anything about the situation.
Well, as it turns out, Acast don't know why that was happening, but I turned the ads off entirely and the ep seems to be playing normally - thanks for letting us know and hope it's working for you as well! (Shout if not, and hope you both enjoy the listen.)

1.7...............paige........... (cried during this one. so!)
great episode to get the sid plot going, yknow that post that's like "tsv makes you think it's a typical cult plot where they have to work in the shadows because obviously this level of violence isn't accepted in modern society. and then you get to ep 7" literally what makes tsv such a banger. the minute we hit the city it's like btw we're torturing the radio guy to death. and we fused a guy into the train. it's fine :3
excited to get to s2 and talk a bit more about paige's siblings...so fucked up we don't get to hear more about them 🥺
the description of the train also a very memorable one to me...make him less visible but he still moans ever so faintly...look down look away don't think about it even though it's always so very obviously there and you can't escape it....
AND PAIGE'S RESPONSE AND THE WHOLE WAY SHE SPEAKS ABOUT THE SACRIFICES THROUGH THE EPISODE. THAT STUFF HAPPENS TO OTHER PEOPLE TO WORSE PEOPLE. RAAAUGUGH
paige alcoholism foreshadowing yay (if you can even call it that it's basically just text :( )
PAIGE. (CAR CRASHING PEOPLE SCREAMING)
(fingers digging into the wood of my desk) I'm Really Normal About This Part Specifically I Prommy
"i feed your love because i need to hear it even if i can never quite believe in it" what if i blew up forever. also all the repeated plant imagery.....and the fear of being left behind like carp last ep...
OHHHH THE CARPISMSSSSS
oh god the corporatisms... "all of us will have to make sacrifices" YOU CAN'T SAY THAAAATTTT and oh god vaughaaaaaaaan only using "you" aaaaaguugghhhh
paige in denial and yet still excusing that they could throw poor performers under the bus that "no one would miss" baby girllllll
man. what the hell man.
PAIGE THE FUCKING GIRLEMPLOYEE YOU ARE. SHE HAS THAT SPARK OF WANTING TO ACT IN HER BUT SHE'S SO CONDITIONED BY THE SYSTEM IT'S ALL ABOUT FUCKING TRANSACTIONS!!!!!
something so so funny and sad about her throw away comment about taking the train and them giving her a car and her accepting it
PAIGE. PAIGE I'M GOING TO END MY SHIT PAIGE.
MY FRIEND VAUGHAN MY FRIEND VAUGHAN MY FRIEND VAUGHAN. THE CONSTANT REPETITION OF THAT SPECIFIC PHRASE. STARTED CRYING BETWEEN THAT AND PAIGE'S VOICE BREAKING....................
vaughan you will always be at the heart of this story to me. the catalyst for both paige and carpenter the one who chose what ate them but still died struggling and bitter and silently asking couldn't you do better? don't you want something more than this?
(there's also something about them dying in steam...)
AND SHE DOES. AND SHE'S RIGHT ON THE CUSP. AND THEN SHE JUST GOES RIGHT BACK TO PUTTING HER NOSE DOWN. AAAAAAAAAAAA
GET HIS ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
another contender for funniest episode ending the tone shift is insane. world's worst road trip gains a third member!!!
one of my favorite eps of the season just...so so upsetting and does Such a good job of introducing paige

ok i listened to today’s ep. tsv s3e8 spoilers
given the whole discussion of killing gods, one of my crack theories after s3e2 was that val could successfully bootstrap paradox the gods out of existence, resetting things in the process. the clean slate carpenter talks about is possible with val’s power. and val’s increasing resentment this episode leads me to believe that she could take a swing at it. it’d be a bold choice so i don’t know if it’d actually happen, but it’s gone up from like 2% possibility to 7% possibility in my eyes.
i had proposed the idea of Withermark Miscommunication Hell but that’s largely off the table. my Vision was a bunch of calls happening back and forth but it was ended pretty succinctly. there’s still hope in my heart for such shenanigans from carp n faulk though. also greave did literally exactly what i expected her to do and i find that funny.
ive been running carp and faulk reunion statistics in my brain consistently since before season 3 started and we’re looking up right now. by my count, the more distressed faulkner is, the better their reunion is gonna go, and seeing as he’s gonna have the fucking military there, he’s not gonna have a fun time. however, the plight of the withermark is gonna kick in again. he does not want to use it. but he might have to. and i think it’ll be fun to see what that does to him.
paige deciding to face her alcoholism and get rid of the drinks in her house, only for literally every character that showed up after her to drink alcohol at some point had me rolling. when hayward popped the beer open i laughed out loud. it was probably not intentional but holy FUCK did it get me.
and that ending, well. i feel like s3e7 and s3e8 are working hard to scare off people who rely on happy endings. this is a tragedy!! we’re gonna experience so much loss!! and i personally can’t wait to see how much worse it gets!!!!!!

every episode of tsv makes me feel like this
#original nonsense#personal#i just finished episode 7 .............. yeah#this world would literally be a nightmare to live in holy sh-t. cool podcast tho#is it even possible to be an agnostic or atheist in this world. like if every aspect of life is hinged on religions can u just choose not#to devote yourself to any of them.#it sounds like hayward is kind of indifferent to religion but theres still gods of jobs so u dont get much of a choice in that matter.#the people in ep 7 certainly did not have a choice.#tsv liveblog
