my thoughts on taraimawashi hen
absolutely hilarious fork. keiichi going "nah i won't bother actually". i was smiling and laughing knowing. and then immediately my smile faded and my laugh stopped as they reveal what was going on in 1993 very briefly. my god
i already heard about this one and the subsequent tsukiotoshi hen, tsukiotoshi being WAY more batshit and sounding slightly like a fanfic-y scenario (but not in a bad way). in a way im more wanting to read the ones with the console only characters but ill read everything

The regular and limited edition covers to “Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Matsuri,” released February 22nd, 2007, for the PS2.
As well as the covers to “Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Matsuri: Kakera Asobi,” and the “Kakera Asobi” append version (not in great quality). Released December 20, 2007.
“While ‘Matsuri’ carries seven of the eight original arcs (’Matsuribayashi-hen’ was left out), three new arcs are included—the Question Arc ‘Taraimawashi-hen,’ the bad-end Answer Arc ‘Tsukiotoshi-hen,’ and ‘Miotsukushi-hen,’ which provides an alternate ending to the one offered by ‘Matsuribayashi-hen.’”
“An append to ‘Matsuri,’ called ‘Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Matsuri: Kakera Asobi,’ was released after the great success of the first game. This append version includes a new textbox, new menus and a better scenario chart, but it doesn’t add ‘Matsuribayashi-hen.’” - from the “When They Cry” wiki page.

Tataridamashi-hen Ep1
So first episode follows the pattern of being similar to the original. It seems like I was wrong about Satoshi not playing as big a role as they finally established him as a character and was central to Satoko's relationship with Keiichi. I'll be honest, the complete lack of acknowledgement of Satoshi in Onidamashi-hen (aside from a still image) and Watadamashi-hen (they even changed Shmion's apparent motive during the ladder scene to not even say his name), it all really weirded me out and I didn't know what to think going into this.
A part of me is thinking this may turn out more like Tsukiotoshi-hen. However, Rina's murder in both Tatarigoroshi-hen and Tsukiotoshi is done by the Sonozakis and is the impetus for Teppei's move. But here it would appear it was complaints about a "smell." I wonder if the smell was a decaying body: Rina's dead body. What would a Teppei culprit theory even mean in regards to Rina's murder and the events ahead?
Shion was quick to take up the Nee-nee mantle, I don't think that was seen in the first anime until Yakusamashi or Minagoroshi, was that seen in the vn?
Honestly, as far as difficulty, I think this may be the hardest. Onidamashi-hen is still on my mind. Watadamashi-hen can be explained by Shion Culprit Theory, but the timeline is a little rushed which does make it difficult. I think Rika is truly the wildcard in this series. Based on some notes about Meta-Rika (she's a St. Lucia student!!) the fact that she's older seems to point that the real mystery happens after 1983. Things happening in these fragments will point to Rika's murder in the future, and I think what we're seeing with Tomitake's and Takano's dissapearance has more to do with post-1983 than the original MO.
Feel free to interact and share your thoughts!

my thoughts on Tataridamashi-hen
It was Keiichi who killed Teppei in both Tatarigoroshi-hen and Tsukiotoshi-hen. And this time I'd like it to be Shion who does it. It's time for big Nee Nee to protect her little Satoko, u go girl! And by the way she can do something about pedo Irie too

But what if they make Tsukiotoshi-hen or something similar this time. I mean Shion seems to be in it, there is no Satoshi scene this time with her.

Reading through Frederica Bernkastel poems and deciding which ones apply to Loki (my AU version or otherwise):
Onikakushi-hen: Both. But more someone talking to Loki, probably Frigga or Thor. The second one especially is one he needs to hear and wrestle with.
Taraimawashi-hen: Again, said to Loki, to try to make him accept reality so he can start working towards healing.
Watanagashi-hen: Both. First one is very Frigga to Loki, because she is partially responsible for the whole mess that led up to his fall, and she’d want to make it better for him, but there’s no clear roadmap.
Meakashi-hen: Little girl = Loki, the marbles could be his identity or his goals.
Tsukiotoshi-hen: First one, at least the first two stanzas, are very Loki in TDW.
Tsumihoroboshi-hen: Not the MCU version, and I haven’t read the comics so I don’t know for sure, but if the whole “everything repeats in cycles” thing is accurate, the first could be Loki’s reaction to his downfall and causing Ragnarok happening over and over.
Matsuribayashi-hen: First one, another thing Loki probably has going through his head, when he stops to think the hard scary thoughts. Second one might well be my AU Loki’s mantra now.

About Shion Sonozaki
Name:Shion Sonozaki(園崎詩音) Age:15~17 Birth Date:July 10,1966 Horoscope:Cancer Blood type:B Hair color:green Eye color:green Height:165cm Nickname:Shii-chan,Shii First appearance:Watanagashi hen Arc appearance:Watanagashi hen Meakashi hen Minagoroshi hen Matsurihayashi hen Tsukiotoshi hen(Game only) Yakusamashi hen Batsukoishi hen Hajisarashi hen Musubienshi hen Occupation: Waitress at Angel Mort Discorder: Hinamizawa Syndrome Yandere Sadist Weapon:modified taser/stun gun hunting knife dagger modified spiked torture whips AK-47 assault rifle (seen once in Matsuribayashi-hen) SantokuSVD Dragunov sniper rifle (seen once in Matsuribayashi-hen) VA: Satsuki Yukino/Kelii Kassidi
Character Summary
Shion is the older (believed to be younger by everyone but the twins themselves) twin sister of the Sonozaki twins. She was sent to St. Lucia’s Boarding School, but escaped in 1982 and 1983 with the help of Kasai Tatsuyoshi, a man who acts as a bodyguard to the Sonozaki family.
Shion is the main villain in Meakashi-hen, which appears to be Watanagashi-henfrom her perspective (though certain differing events mean the two are actually separate arcs) and shows that she was the main villain in Watanagashi-hen as well. She despised Hojo Satoko in Meakashi-hen, blaming her for Satoshi’s suffering, but in the arcs afterward, the two have a sister-like bond, and Shion even puts her life on the line to save her to keep her promise to look after Satoko while Satoshi was gone. In Matsuribayashi-hen, Rika explains that Shion’s early dislike for Satoko in the years before 1983 and her learning how to control her inner demon afterward are both momentous events for Shion to avoid being a victim of the Hinamizawa Syndrome.
Shion works as a waitress at the Angel Mort (エンジェルモト) restaurant and is also the manager’s assistant for the Hinamizawa Fighters little league team. In truth, she was born as Sonozaki Mion, the elder sister, but due the sisters swapping places at a young age, Mion, instead of her, was branded with the oni tattoo which marks the presumptive heir to the Sonozaki family. She had to become “Shion” and her younger sister became “Mion.”
Personality
Despite her being seemingly more girly and refined than Mion, thanks to schooling at St. Lucia, she is incredibly shrewd, cold, manipulative, and delinquent, more so than Mion. She hated St. Lucia, calling it a “factory for manufacturing ladies” and got in trouble with the administration numerous times for various misdemeanors. To escape, she studied all of the school’s security systems, guard schedules, and behaviors of the administration staff, to the point where she manipulated them by propagating a rumor of her having a love affair with a male teacher. In Watanagashi-hen, she enjoys angering Mion and making her jealous by taking control of Keiichi whenever she has the chance. In Meakashi-hen, when the motorcyclists attacked her, she is capable of mapping out how to ruin their reputations in numerous ways, trying to create the most entertaining and interesting outcome for her own enjoyment. Also in Meakashi-hen, Shion was able to easily manipulate and control the whole village of Hinamizawa; when Rika,Satoko, and Kimiyoshi Kiichirou went missing, Shion was able to exploit the resulting paranoia to her own advantage, with the occasional mask of innocence and stealing the image of Mion, in order to lure all of her targets to their deaths in perfect fashion and fulfill her own “promise” to Satoshi.
Despite being cold to hating Satoko in some arcs, Shion also has the capability to become fiercely protective of Satoko. In Minagoroshi-hen, when the club members were trying to plan out how to save Satoko from her abusive uncle,Hojo Teppei, she threatened to kill everyone who stood in her way of killing Teppei, even those whom she cared for, and only calmed down when Keiichi allowed her to bash his head with a chair. She is willing to die for Satoko. This was seen in Minagoroshi-hen, where she pleads to Takano to kill her but spare Satoko. Takano agrees and kills Shion by shooting her in the head, but later kills Satoko after she answers a question.
Like Mion, Shion is often a very cheerful and friendly girl. In the arcs where she is protective of Satoko, Shion acts like an older sister, helping out whenever she can and teasing as a sister would. She has a very supportive personality and openly supports Satoshi, convincing the store owner selling the large stuffed bear he wanted to give to Satoko for her birthday to hold it for him to allow him to earn the money to pay for it. Under the influence of the Hinamizawa Syndrome, Shion will become violent as her paranoia grows as it did in Keiichi and Rena.
Shion tends to become envious very easily and frequently, which has contributed to her progression of the Hinamizawa Syndrome, her violent insanity, and how she chooses to seduce the victims “to make sure they get what they deserve”. In Meakashi-hen, Shion’s inner “demon” awoke out of jealousy when she was listening to Mion talk about Keiichi; she found it unfair for Mion to have a living crush nearby when her own crush was possibly dead (by word of other Hinamizawans). Other things that Shion became jealous over included Mion’s status as the next heir of the Sonozaki family, Rika’s status as the reincarnation of Oyashiro-Sama, Satoshi’s protection and love for Satoko, and, as described by Shion,Ryuuguu Rena’s own inner “demon”, which far surpassed Shion’s demon in terms of power and monstrosity: “In the heavy downpour, I saw those eyes. It was like a situation where, because I knew how to play tennis, people admired me for being able to beat other novices at tennis. But then I met a girl who said she also played tennis; she even took private lessons. When I competed against her, she completely beat me, and I felt humiliated when everyone began to admire how she was much better than me. To me, that was Rena. I could sense her aura, that her demon was much more fearsome than my own.”
Trivia
Shion is a bit of an anti-hero since she is both a protagonist and a antagonist. Since her murders were committed under the influence of the Hinamizawa Syndrome and arguably not out of her own malice.Since Shion has a liking towards teasing and playing pranks on others, especially Mion and Keiichi, she is often noted as the internet meme Luv or troll of the Higurashi series. Also, the “Shi” (詩, kanji for poetry) in “Shion” is also spelled the same as “shi” (四, kanji for four), so fans celebrate “Shii’s Day” on April 1st, which is also April Fool’s Day, as a homage to her name and unique personality.Similar to Satoko’s case, Shion is the only other character in the series who has reached L5 that has not scratched her throat at any point in time. In Higurashi Daybreak, Shion often says “Ora ora ora!” when attacking. This is a reference to Jotaro Kujo from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, in which he yells whenever he does a quick combo chain. Shion has an irrational fear of canned foods. When she was younger, Kasai used to tell her stories about canned foods containing human meat.

Two fer one! ✅ and ✖
✅ - headcanon about friends | accepting ✓ —☆
friends arer really important to rena as it’s clearly shown in tsumihoroboshi-hen. at some point she even mentions if her happiness was a gem, she’d like to put that into her pocket and use it to dust of the cold days with that warmth. rena is a very gentle and caring girl who loves her friends deeply, so much that she tends to isolation and silence. hence she spends so much time at the junkyard. she does that only in order to not hurt keiichi and the others with her own problems.
however, reina is a bit different.
(this is why my tsukiotoshi-hen rena muse is based on “reina” not rena. reina is more selfish and evil.) reina is unable to accept the facts of reality, and constantly believes in her own theories. such involves her view on things and her paranoia. you could say she’s delusional like she is in tsumihoroboshi-hen. but it’s definitely more herself being yangire and “bad” due to hinamizawa syndrome, the reason for this is not because a evil rena is much better or more cool but it’s because in tsukiotoshi-hen, rena never reads takano’s scrapbooks, yet she goes completely paranoid , thinking everyone is an enemy! in tsukiotoshi-hen, rena goes slowly crazy and distrusts her own friends even more than she did in tsumihoroboshi-hen. it goes so far that she kills mion with her nata, and stabs keiichi with a knife. afterwards she laughs at him like a maniac as she burns down satoko’s house and continues to kill rika, ( this is canon , you can look it up on wiki.) btw, rena isn’t the only one who goes crazy in tsukiotoshi-hen, keiichi goes as crazy and helps rena killing mion. i think the fact that both, keiichi and rena are both paranoid made it impossible for rena to come back to sense, because this is another headcanon of mine, keiichi has a secret potential to keep rena sane most of the time.
X - headcanon about enemies
this is a triggering subject to rena.because rena sees bad enemies as scum that try to steal away your happiness, such as akihito, ritsuko and teppei tried in her eyes. that’s why she sincerely believes all enemies need to be eliminated. as such it’s a constant trigger to activate the violence inside rena.
#invadedsilence#+canon facts#headcanon#hc#( sorry that took me a bit to answer )#( should i tag this as a spoiler? not everyone knows about tsukio-hen after all... )#( spoilers for tsukiotoshi-hen )
