The fun/challenging part of writing a Hobbit fic which includes The Ring without it being immediately clocked as what it is or simply thrown away, is trying to tread the line between staying true-ish to the book and hinting at its true nature.
Because in the book it's just this lovely magical trinket of great convenience but no consequence because the concept of The One Ring and Sauron did not exist at the time JRRT was writing The Hobbit. I know after the fact he went back and retconned the Riddles in the Dark chapter to match the story in LoTR, but he really didn't touch anything else to do with it elsewhere in the book. It remains a benign magical tool for Bilbo to use whenever with no ill effects or weirdness. (At least that we are told about by Bilbo. Who is writing the book)
And the movies leaned heavier on the sequel-prequel foreshadowing that there was something sinister about The Ring and its powers growing as Sauron's powers grew and he revealed himself and all that. Which again was not a thing in the book because the idea of Sauron didn't yet exist, but something audiences would have expected. And because they were trying to tone-match The Hobbit to LoTR and make a sequel-prequel, obviously the Ring couldn't just be ignored or treated like a toy.
And then there's me reading LoTR and getting a better picture of the Ring's powers as Tolkien wrote them (compared to the version we see in the movies) and just getting Ideas about the ways The Ring can change things for Bilbo in my fic.
And I'm trying to walk this line between knowing this is The One Ring and there is Something Wrong with it, but it's not yet at the height of powers it has in LoTR, when Sauron has had 70+ years to regain more power, and the ring is physically getting closer to Sauron and becoming more powerful. And also have it still be a mostly benign tool for Bilbo to use. Though not without side effects. But Bilbo can't Know that there is Something Wrong with the ring because otherwise it would not be brought back to the Shire to hide for 60 more years. So anything the Ring does has to be subtle enough.
Mostly I'm trying to figure out if it is within the Ring's powers at the time of the Hobbit to give Bilbo a temptation of power, like it does to Sam in RotK and he sees the greatest garden in all of the world that he could plant if only he would use the ring, only to be denied by Hobbit Practicality. Probably not as intense a vision, but if it gave her just a suggestion of an idea...
But also i have to wonder if the Ring would risk exposure in the presence of a Dragon. Who, if Smaug didn't take the ring for himself, could potentially destroy it. (Iirc dragon fire was able to destroy other rings of power). Maybe it would decide in that moment that the hobbit was the better choice of bearer and not offer the temptation at all.
But gosh the image i have in my head for the idea of temptation for Bilbo is so much fun! Very much along the lines of "use the ring and controll the dragon" sort of power trip.

Chapter 1 - Where there is death there is rebirth - Patrick Hockstetter Fanfic
Tumblr media
"Yeah I know right, like why the fuck are boys always so unobservant." Ashley groaned with a bratty attitude as she walked along the side walk with her friend Bella by her side. The two girls were currently gossiping about Derry High's latest proclaimed douche bags. "And what about Noah huh? I'm tellin' you Ashy, you should dump his ass, he obviously doesn't give a shit about you." Bella stated as they turned down a street the lamposts illuminating the dark depths of the street.
Now your probably thinking why the hell are they walking around town at night time.
Well, let's see, it's like in horror movies, the dumb college kids decide to walk out of the house even though they know there is obviously someone outside. This was almost like that except, well, there is no madman or scary figure trying to chase and kill them. No, instead tonight would mark the night of a terrible accident and almost a tragedy. Or perhaps it might've just been a gift from the heavens...or hell.
"Yeah, probably will, he's been getting on my nerves lately, I mean would it kill him to take me out on a date just every once in a while." Ashley said as she spun around turning her back to the road, as she began to walk backwards as she spoke to her friend.
"That's my girl, Oh my gosh my Ashy's growing up." She said with fake despair and Ashley laughed. "God I can't wait for this semester to be over" Ashley said changing the subject after a second. "Yeah me too, the assignments are just kicking my ass at the moment." Bella stated as the two girls had bright smiles on their faces as they walked. Then silence broke out between them before Ashley's smile disappeared. "Hey, uh Bella I um just wanted to say that your a really good friend. Any guy would be a fool to let you go." Ashley said as she kept walking backwards completely unaware that she was nearing the side of the road.
"Yeah, you are too Ashley" Bella said as they walked towards a curb completely unaware of the car that was speeding down the road at all. "Well on the agenda tonight, let's see, romantic movies, popcorn and let's not forget all the freakin candy in the world" Ashley said listing out what they were planning to do when they got to Ashley's house. But little did they know this night would take a drastic turn for the worst. "Oh yeah! now that's what I'm talkin' about" Bella said excitedly as they sped up there pace a little. "Come on, ya gotta keep up ya slow poke" Ashley said as she sped up whilst still walking backwards.
As Ashley nears the curb Bella suddenly picks up on the roaring sound of an engine and looks down the road to see a speeding car heading their way. "Wait! Ashley! Stop!" Bella yelled out but Ashley instead just dismissed it and smiled. "nuh uh, I am not falling for that. I'm going to get there first." Ashley teased as she kept going. "No! Stop!!! Ashley look out!" Bella screamed but it was too late. Ashley slipped and fell backwards onto the road just as the car get to the curb.
Then everything seems to happen in a slow motion.
Bella screams loudly in horror as she watched the car hit Ashley and send her friend flying further down the road. The driver in the car of course, screeched to a halt upon seeing Ashley but it was too late. The car had hit her and the damage was now done. And there Ashley's body lay, a few ways down the road, bloodied and quite possibly...broken.
"ASHLEY!" Bella screamed as tears ran down her face whilst she sprinted towards her friend who lay on her side in the middle of the road, bleeding profusely from a large head wound. The driver of the car came rushing out of their car and towards the two girls.
Bella dropped to her knees as she pulled Ashley into her arms. "No, No, No Ashley No! Wake up! Please wake up!" Bella whimpered as she held her friend in her arms. Once it came to bella that Ashley wasn't waking up she began to panic. "Help! Somebody help please! Help!" Bella screamed at the top of her lungs urgently as blood continued to gush from Ashley's head.
"Oh my god, hold on I'll radio for help!" The driver spoke as he sprinted back to his car. "No, no, no please god, please don't let her die please." Bella begged as she looked down at her friend sobbing. "Your gonna be ok Ashley! hang in there" Bella said as the sound of distant sirens suddenly took away the tragic silence of a tragic accident, one that would change Ashley's entire life forever.
But as Bella sat there, cradling Ashley in her arms, up in the night sky above them was a shooting star.
Now of course a shooting star can mean many things like finding new love or hope or great fortune. But also a shooting star is a sign of a new beginning, a sign of a new life being created. Some might call it a miracle, others might call it a message from satan himself but for Ashley Sullivan, this might just be a gift from the gods above.

I’M NOT AFRAID
Tumblr media
“Sorry to ruin date night.” Penelope teases as you and Hotch walk into the conference room. You’re wearing a dress that is far too short to be work appropriate, attempting to hide it under your long coat and scowling at Penelope.
Morgan whistles and you roll your eyes, but Aaron only smirks as he settles into the seat next to you, resting a hand on your thigh under the table. It was nice to finally be able to be like this at work. You and Aaron had and would always continue to be professional at work, but since the team had found out, you didn’t have to hide the subtle touches or loaded glances.
“Good evening crime fighters, I’m so sorry to ruin your night, but we have some criminals afoot.” Images of women’s bodies illuminate the screen behind her. Immediately you notice small burns that decorate each of their bodies, consistent with the use of a taser. “You will be heading to North Bend, Washington where the bodies were found abandoned in alleyways behind dumpsters. In all cases, the bodies were discovered by homeless men.”
“What was the cause of death?” You ask.
Penelope sighs, “It looks like the person who did this tortured them for hours, submerged in salt water for long periods of time and tased at close range over and over, until,” She clicks the remote and pictures of the victims’ heads come across the screen.
“He tased them in the head?” Morgan asks.
“That would be correct, chocolate thunder. The ME reports that the girls all suffered incredible brain damage until their brains just… shut down.”
“The discarding of the bodies suggests he doesn’t have any remorse and he’s clearly sadistic since he tortures them for so long.” Prentiss says.
“Garcia, was there evidence of sexual assault?” Aaron asks.
“ME says since they were submerged in water for so long it’s impossible to tell.”
“Forensic countermeasure?” Reid muses.
“It’s possible.” Aaron says.
“Oh, and there’s one last thing.” A picture of another girl fills the screen, “Another girl was taken a few hours ago, her name is Tiffany Cole. Judging by how long he’s held the other girls--”
“We have less than 48 hours to find her.” Aaron finishes, “Let’s get going then, wheels up in thirty.”
You follow Aaron to his office, closing the door behind you, sighing as you lean against it, “We’re never gonna have a night to ourselves, are we?”
He brushes his thumb along your cheek, “I’m sorry, I’ll make it up to you when we get back.”
You smile and lean into his touch, “Shame this dress has to go to waste.”
“Can I at least take it off you?” He murmurs.
You raise your eyebrows, “Sure, my love, but don’t forget to close the shades.” You nod your head to the windows of his office.
You pull out your go bag while he closes the shades, pulling out some comfier, more professional clothing. He comes up behind you and wraps his arms around your waist and you lean back into him. Gently kissing your shoulders, he pulls down the zipper in the back revealing your bare back.
He groans into your skin, “I can’t believe we have a case.”
You hum and turn in his arms, placing your hands on his chest as the dress falls off you, “Well we better work quickly then so you can make it up to me.” You smirk and lightly push off from his chest, turning away from him to put on your work clothes.
Faster than you thought possible, Aaron immediately shifts back into unit chief, barely looking at you as he swipes through the case file on his tablet. Once dressed, you peer over his shoulder, “What’s bothering you?”
He shakes his head and stands, grabbing his go bag and handing you yours, “I don’t know yet.” He says and walks past you, leaving you to follow.
***
“There doesn’t seem to be any evidence of gagging or even tape over the mouth to keep the girls quiet,” Reid observes from the jet, “No trace glue on the mouth or fabric found inside. ME even reports that some of their vocal chords seemed strained, most likely from hours of screaming.”
“Which means he must have some remote place to keep them where nobody can hear them.” Rossi adds.
Aaron is quiet the entire time besides assigning the team tasks for when you land, “Aaron, what’s the matter?” You say softly, gently squeezing his leg.
He slowly shakes his head, “Something about this case… I feel like I’ve seen it before, but I can’t… I can’t remember.”
You frown, “We could ask Garcia--?”
“No.” He interjects immediately and then looks at you apologetically for cutting you off, “No, not yet. I don’t want anyone wasting their time when I’m not even sure myself.”
You nod, “Okay.”
The rest of the day went by as usual, Aaron asked you and JJ to go talk to the families. By the time you got back to the police station, the sun was beginning to set and the team had hit dead end after dead end. Frustrated, Hotch ended up dismissing the team for the night to come back with fresh eyes tomorrow.
In the hotel room the two of you shared, you kneeled on the bed behind Aaron who was still looking over case files and placed your hands on his shoulders, gently kneading them with your fingers, “Come to bed.” You said softly and kissed him just below his ear.
He shakes his head, “There’s a girl out there who might already be dead because of my incompetence.”
You frown and sit back on your legs, “That’s weird, I didn’t know you were working this case by yourself.”
He sighs, “I know I’ve seen this before.”
“Even if you had, it’s probably a copycat, it’s not the same guy.”
“But we don’t know that.” He says, exasperated, “I can’t even remember if we caught him, I can’t remember anything.”
“Okay, that’s it, we’re calling Garcia first thing in the morning.”
“Y/N--”
“We don’t have any other leads, it’s not a waste of time. Now come to bed, please. You’re no use to anyone when you’re tired, you just get more grumpy than usual.”
He finally offers you a small smile, “Are you saying that I’m normally grumpy?”
You smile in victory as you lay back into the pillows and Aaron crawls over you, “Your baseline grumpiness at work is pretty high, yes.” You mimic his frown and deepen your voice, “You always look like this, no matter who you’re speaking to or the scenario.”
He laughs and flattens his body against yours, head resting on your chest and you run your fingers through his hair, “We’ll find him, Aaron. I promise.”
He doesn’t respond, but you both quickly fall asleep like that, unaware of what horrors the next day would bring.
***
“Good morning sunshine, what can I do for you this early?” Penelope answers your phone call with a yawn.
“Hey, Garcia, sorry to call so early. Would it be possible to pull up a list of all the cases Hotch worked before he was unit chief and see if any of them are similar to this case? Maybe the victimology or the MO?”
“Might take a while, our favorite unit chief has been fighting crime for a very long time, but I’ll get back to you if I find anything.”
“Thanks Penelope.”
“Ciao bella!”
“Garcia’s looking.” You said as you hung up the phone, Aaron just finishing tying his tie. You stood and reached out to straighten it. “Try not to think about it, you work best when you’re calm and detached.”
He frowns, “Detached?”
You smile and go up on your tip toes to give him a kiss, “Yes, when you check your ego at the door.”
He cradles your face in his hands and gives you another kiss, “Okay, no more kisses until the end of the day, you’re too distracting.” And he turns away from you, walking out the door before he can even see the way you’re pouting. “Come on, let’s go. We’re running out of time.”
You nod and head after him.
***
“Garcia, you’re on speaker.” You say, pushing your phone into the middle of the conference table. The rest of the team had been brainstorming the last couple hours, but had gotten nothing. No evidence of anyone buying a taser recently, at least not locally. There was little that connected the victims, just that they were all young white women.
“You guys, I… I really hate when this happens, but it seems that the unsub is trying to contact me.”
“What do you mean?” Hotch asks.
“I mean,” You can hear her typing quickly on her keyboard and suddenly there’s another video feed on the screen, “He obviously wants to show us something.”
“Can you trace this?” Reid asks.
“No,” She sighs, “His IP address keeps changing automatically every thirty seconds.”
“Agent Hotchner,” A distorted voice comes from behind the camera. In front of it there’s a tank of water and a girl frantically trying to swim with her hands and legs tied. “Have you figured it out yet?” The voice continues as he walks in front of the camera, never allowing the camera to see his face. You look closer at the girl, Tiffany, and see she has the consistent taser burns all over her body. “I’m tired of waiting.” He walks over to the girl, pulling her up out of the water as she screams before putting the taser next to her temple and pulling the trigger. She spasms for close to a minute before he drops her back in the water, her now lifeless body floating to the top. “I thought you were smarter than this.” The voice says before the feed cuts out.
Everyone is silent for a moment, “The hell was that about?” Prentiss finally interjects, looking to Hotch.
“Garcia, do you have that list for me I asked for this morning?” You say, swallowing away the bile that rises in your throat from witnessing Tiffany’s murder.
“Yes.” Garcia’s normally bubbly voice is quiet and subdued, “Yes, I do. The closest thing I could find was a series of murders back in the 90s. A bunch of women were tortured for hours in a salt water tank before their throats were finally slit and they were dumped behind various dumpsters in town. ME reports showed significant brain damage from repeated lack of oxygen. A Mister Garret Hughes was arrested for the murder, tried, and put to death… Oh boy, three weeks ago, right before our first victim popped up.”
You look at Aaron, “Does that sound familiar now?”
He nods slowly, “It was one of my first cases as lead profiler.”
“Well it sounds like Hughes’ death was the trigger.” Morgan says, “Hotch, maybe he blames you for Hughes’ death.”
“Judging from the body type on camera, it has to be a male, maybe a friend? Brother?” JJ muses.
“Or a son…” Aaron says, “Garcia, did Hughes have any children?”
“Uhhh, yes sir, he has a son named Cameron Hughes who was about seven at the time of the murders and is now twenty five.”
“What do we know about him?” You ask.
“Well, after his father was arrested, Cameron was put into foster care, his mom had left his dad years ago and seemed to drop off the map which sounds a lot to me like she was afraid of Garret.”
“Rightfully so.” JJ murmurs.
“Yeah. After that, Cameron bounced from home to home, reports of abuse from nearly every one until he turned 18. He got a job as a prison guard not long after and he’s been there ever since. And that explains how he was able to get a taser.”
“Any run-ins with the law?” You ask.
“Yeah, several when he was a kid, but after he turned eighteen and got his prison job he was squeaky clean.”
“What were the arrests for, Garcia?”
“Well, we have some petty theft, some fires set and… Oh, no.”
“What is it?”
“His last arrest when he was sixteen was for torturing and killing a neighbor’s dog… via drowning.”
“Do we have an address, Garcia?”
“Already sent to your phones.”
Everyone starts grabbing things and running to the SUVs. “This can’t be where they’re holding them,” Spencer says as you all pile in and Aaron starts the car, “It’s too residential and it doesn’t match the geographical profile.”
“Well, let’s hope that we can bring him in or we find something in his house that tells us where he is holding them.” You say.
***
When you arrived, Aaron directed you, Morgan and JJ to the back. Aaron and Reid took the front while Emily and Rossi went around the side.
You were behind both Morgan and JJ, your guns raised when you spotted a shed behind the house. “You guys go in, I’ll check the shed out back.” You say. They both nod their heads and then head inside. You hear the distant sound of your team calling “Clear!” As you head to the shed, and you admit it, you let your guard down.
When you open the shed door, it’s dark and with your flashlight on, you turn to the right first, leaving your back exposed for Cameron to hit you over the head with a hammer. There’s no time to scream or fight back. A big guy, he picks you up and tosses you over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes and heads out a back door, into the woods where his truck is waiting for him to load you into.
***
At first, no one notices that you’re missing. To be truthful, JJ and Morgan had forgotten about the shed out back. But then Aaron looks up and around the house. There’s JJ and Morgan, carefully sorting through mail on the kitchen table. “Morgan, where’s Y/L/N?”
There’s a moment of silence when it dawns on all of them what may have happened and suddenly everyone’s guns are drawn and Morgan is sprinting to the shed, JJ and Aaron on his heels. When they walk into the shed, they see your badge and gun on the ground along with little dots of blood. And then the start of an engine. Aaron wastes no time running out the back door and starts shooting at the truck, but he’s already too far down the wooded path.
He has you. He has you and Aaron is stuck here, useless, because there are no other leads. “Why was she out here by herself?” Hotch’s voice is deadly calm.
“I… she was behind us and then she said she was going to clear the shed and we just thought…” JJ trails off, “We thought she could handle it.”
It’s not their fault, he tries to remind himself. But the rage is boiling just beneath his skin. “Hotch, we’ll find her.” Reid says when he storms past, back into the house, “Something here will give him away.”
“There wasn’t a license plate on that truck.” Morgan says as they all follow Hotch back inside.
“What’s going on?” Rossi frowns as the rest of the team comes back in the house, “Was he out there?”
“He has Y/N.” Is all Hotch says before he starts ripping the house apart, trying to find some clue of where he would take you. He slams doors and curses to himself throughout and the rest of the team helps him look without a word.
“JJ?” Reid murmurs when he notices she’s crying as she looks through the house.
“I shouldn’t have let her go out there alone.” She says, her voice thick with tears, “It’s like when I left you alone all over again.”
“You know as well as I do she made that choice to go by herself. She wouldn’t want you blaming yourself.” JJ just shakes her head, “If we want to find her we need you to focus now. This unsub is arrogant, he won’t be expecting us to find him.”
They continue searching, seeing if Garcia can find any evidence of abandoned buildings nearby, but nothing. Until Cameron reached out to Garcia himself, again.
Garcia’s panicked voice fills Cameron’s home, “Guys, he’s here again and I can see Y/N.”
Emily quickly opens a laptop and the stream fills the screen. Aaron fills with temporary relief at seeing you sitting on the floor in front of the camera. “No blindfold or gag, just like the other victims, only her wrists and ankles are tied.” Emily observes.
“If he didn’t blindfold her at all, she might be able to tell us where she is.” Reid says, and everyone knows he’s thinking of the coded message he gave this same team years ago when he was taken.
You sit there and stare at the camera silently. You don’t appear to be injured or hurt in any way, besides the blood that drips from your temple. You most likely have a concussion from the blunt trauma. “You know, Agent Hotchner,” Cameron no longer bothers to disguise his voice, “I debated for a while who to take from this team to hurt you the most. I researched you for years while my father rotted in jail. It’s a shame Foyet got to pretty miss Haley before I had the chance. I thought about taking Jack, but I draw the line at children. Feels wrong somehow, even to a psychopath like me.”
He starts touching you and the chair beneath Hotch’s fingers creaks as he clenches his fists. You don’t show him any fear, no tears, you don’t even flinch away from his touch. “So I focused on the team, tried to see who you had the strongest relationship with. Who would hurt the most? Dr. Spencer Reid, boy genius who you treat like a son? Agent Morgan, the little brother you wished Sean had turned out to be? What about Agent Prentiss? She was so damn pretty and smart I thought you had to have been sleeping with her. But then,” He pulls your hair so hard, your head snaps back and you grunt. The closest thing to a reaction you’d given him so far, “I saw that you shared a hotel room with this one more than once when working cases together. I’ll give you props Hotchner,” He chuckles and lets out a whistle, “I didn’t even consider her because I thought she was so far out of your league. Nice work.” He produces a taser and pulls the trigger while pressing it to your ribcage and you convulse until he pulls his hand away.
“Oh, boy. This one’s going to be fun, aren’t you?”
“I have a name.” You grind out.
Cameron responds by ripping off your shirt and producing scissors to cut off your pants, “Yes, Y/N. I know your name. Time for a swim, I think.”
What Cameron doesn’t see as he undresses you is the way you close your eyes and take several deep breaths to calm yourself. Panicking leads to faster drownings. He picks you up and tosses you in his makeshift tank. Your body becomes perfectly still, everyone on the team looking at their screens in horror until you break the surface, taking in another breath.
“Garcia, do you have anything?” Aaron does his best to keep the impatience out of his voice, but you scream for the first time when Cameron holds the taser to your side for more than a few seconds and it shatters him.
“Sir, I’m trying everything, I can’t hack him. I’m so sorry.” She sniffles.
“Reid, give me something.” Hotch practically begs, but Reid looks back at him hopelessly and you’re screaming again.
“Oh, God.” JJ says, tears streaming down her cheeks.
Hotch kicks over his chair as you finally break and begin crying and then you’re under water again.
“We’re missing something, we have to be.” Rossi says.
Cameron pulls you up out of the water by your hair, “Are you listening, Agent Hotchner?” He screams as you cough the water out of your lungs, “Beg him to help you, baby, go on.”
You take some shuddering breaths and then you look at the camera, “Aaron,” You say breathlessly and Hotch feels like all the air has gotten sucked out of his lungs, “It’s beautiful here and I’m not afraid.” Cameron shoves you back under and tases you while you struggle.
“What the hell does that mean?” Morgan demands, looking at Hotch who’s staring at the laptop in awe.
“Garcia, how far is Mount Si from here?”
“Not far at all sir, maybe a couple of miles if that.”
“Are there any remote cabins or caves there that wouldn’t have come up on your initial search of Cameron?”
“Um, it’s possible that there is land there that is owned by a relative that wouldn’t have come up in his background, let me check and…” She sighs, “Yeah, there’s a small cabin right off of a hiking trail that looks like it used to belong to Cameron’s mother. She never sold it so it’s sat there empty since she left town.”
“Let’s go.” Hotch says, practically running out the door before anyone can follow, “Garcia, keep the audio of the stream on while we drive.”
“You got it, go get her, please.”
“How did you know?” Prentiss asks when they’re in the car.
“Y/N is afraid of heights. We went hiking once, early on, and I convinced her to climb a mountain with me. When she got to the top I asked her how she was feeling and she looked at me with this big smile on her face and said ‘It’s beautiful up here.’ And then she looked over the edge and I held her from behind and I asked her if she was scared and she said ‘No, I’m not afraid.’” Your screams ring out in the car and Hotch presses his foot down harder on the gas. They were almost there, you just needed to hold on a little longer.
“We’re gonna get her, Hotch.” Rossi says reassuringly from the back as your sobs ring through the car.
“Garcia, how does she look?” Hotch asks. He was just down the road now.
“As you would expect, sir.” She says quietly, “If you’re asking if I think he’s going to kill her anytime soon, no I don’t. He is having far too much fun with her. Please get that creepy man in cuffs.”
Aaron throws the car in park and everyone jumps out, pulling out their guns as they run in. “FBI, Cameron, drop the weapon.”
You’re dripping wet and shaking and out of the tank, barely able to stand. But you smile at Aaron as Cameron holds a knife to your abdomen. You thought when you had given him that hint that you’d be leading him to your body, you never expected to see him alive again. But here he was, your Aaron, prepared to rip the world apart to get you back alive.
“Thanks for the suggestion, Agent Hotchner, but it’d be so much more fun to see the look on your face when I do this--” Aaron fires the shot and it lands in Cameron’s forehead, killing him instantly, but not before he thrust the knife into your stomach.
“We need a medic, federal agent down.” He says quickly into his watch before running to your side.
Your eyes dart back and forth as he kneels next to you and warm blood starts pooling on your stomach. “Aaron?” You manage.
“It’s okay, I’m here, I’m here, it’s gonna be okay.”
“You remembered.” You say softly, your eyes losing focus, “You found me.”
“Of course I remembered,” Hotch says, tears filling his eyes, “You gotta stay with me, Y/N. Stay awake, okay?”
“I’m so… tired.”
“I know, I know, but you have to keep your eyes open. Please.” He shouts over his shoulder, “Where’s my medic?!”
“I’m glad I… got to see you again, Aaron.”
“Don’t talk like that.” He’s crying now as you’re bleeding out in his arms. He can vaguely hear Morgan yell again for a medic.
Hotch’s memories get all scrambled up after that. He remembers you passing out in his arms, thinking you were gone as the medics forcefully remove you from him. The way the team tried to take him with them as you rode to the hospital, but he insisted on going with you.
He remembers that it was touch and go for a while in the ambulance. That they had to have Derek pull him away from you when they wheeled you into trauma. His arms were covered in blood and he shoved Morgan off him.
“Hotch, relax.”
He eventually sat down in a waiting room seat, legs bouncing, “She was talking to me like she was about to die.”
“She’s not gonna be out of there anytime soon, why don’t you go wash the blood off your arms.” JJ says.
“Yeah.” He says and stands, “Yeah, right.”
When he’s gone down the hall the rest of the team look at each other, “I haven’t seen him like this since Haley.” Emily says.
“She’s gonna be okay, right?” Spencer’s voice is soft.
JJ puts an arm around him as Morgan’s phone rings, “Please tell me she’s okay.” Comes Penelope’s panicked voice on speaker.
“She’s in emergency surgery right now, we don’t know much.”
“And how’s Hotch?”
Morgan sighs, “She practically bled out in his arms, Garcia. He’s not good.”
She sighs, “I hate being across the country, call me when you hear something.”
Hotch walks back over, still looking dazed, but at least not covered in blood. They waited like that in silence for hours until the doctor came back over and Hotch stands immediately.
“We were able to stop the internal bleeding and stabilize her,” The doctor starts, “She’s in the recovery room now and should be waking up soon. She’ll have to stay in the hospital for at least a week to be monitored.”
The relief hits everyone in the room tenfold. Hotch feels like his legs might give out and there’s a collective sigh of relief from the rest of the team.
“Could we airlift her to DC?” Aaron asks. He doesn’t want you here by yourself.
“I’d like to at least monitor her overnight, but yes, that can be arranged.”
“Can we see her?” Spencer said from behind Aaron.
“Of course, follow me.”
Your eyes are still closed when they all file in, the doctor quietly exiting as they all crowd around your bed. Aaron is crying when your eyes begin to flutter open, a lazy smile forming on your face, “What happened?” You say slowly, your voice raspy.
“You just got out of surgery, you’re gonna be okay.” Aaron says.
“We were so worried about you.” Spencer’s voice cracks as he steps forward and gives you a hug.
“Oof.” You grimace a bit at the sudden weight, but manage to hug him back. “I’m fine, promise.”
The team all give you hugs and put Garcia on speaker so she can hear you alive and well before leaving Aaron alone with you. “Why are you crying, my love?” You ask, reaching out a hand to him.
He takes a deep, shuddering breath, “I thought you died in my arms.”
You shake your head, “But I didn’t.”
“I can still hear your screams from when he was torturing you. I didn’t do enough to protect you.”
You flinch a bit at the mention of the torture, but recover quickly, “Aaron, our jobs come with a certain amount of risk. You know that. You can’t always protect me.”
“I know, I know, I just…” He wipes his tears with the heel of his hand, “He took you because of me.”
You shake your head, “He just got lucky that I went off by myself. He would’ve taken anyone who walked in by themselves. He wasn’t as diligent or organized as Foyet. I’m sure he did stalk us, but he had no solid plan to target me specifically.” He looks down at his hands sniffling, “Aaron, even if he did take me because of our relationship, I don’t care.”
“How can you say that?”
“Our relationship is also what saved me, don’t you realize that?”
“You would’ve found another way to tip us off--”
“The whole time I was there, I just kept thinking about you. I’m not like Reid or Prentiss, I can’t think like that under pressure. I was only able to think of that because I was thinking of you, of us the whole time.” He still can’t look at you and you can see tears still falling to the floor.
“Aaron, look at me.” You say gently and he complies. You beckon him over to the bed until he sits on the edge and you can touch his face, “I love you.” It’s the first time either of you have said it. You were so nervous to before, but nearly dying without telling him had scared you badly.
He manages a smile, “I love you too.”
You smile back at him and reach up to cup the back of his neck, pulling his face down to meet yours. His kiss is gentle, as if he’s afraid of breaking you and then he rests his head just beneath your chin.
“They said you have to stay in the hospital for at least a few days.” You immediately groan and begin to protest, but he shushes you, “I’m going to arrange for you to be airlifted to DC tomorrow morning and I’ll stay with you until then. The rest of the team is flying home tonight.” You’re pouting at having to stay in the hospital and he cant help but laugh at you a bit, “Hey, it won’t be so bad. I’ll bring you all your favorite books and takeout and I’ll bring Jack, too when I can.”
“Will you bring me coffee in the morning before you go to work? Hospital coffee is terrible.”
He smiles, “Yes and I’ll even bring you a chocolate croissant from that bakery you love.”
You finally crack a smile, “You spoil me, Hotchner.”
He kisses your forehead, “I’ll probably spend the rest of my life making this up to you.”
You smirk, “Hey, at least now we can both say a serial killer almost stabbed us to death. We even have matching scars.”
Despite himself, Aaron laughs, “You’re ridiculous.”
You giggle, “Yes, ridiculously in love with you, Aaron Hotchner.”

Angst timmmmme!! The last part of three parts on Chloe’s accident:
Part One: Day 14 - Hear Our Prayer || Part Two: Day 18 - Grievous Injury
Also on AO3!!!
DAY TWENTY ONE: REMINISCIENCE
Tests confirmed what the doctors thought; Chloe had suffered damage to the area of her brain linked to speech and language. No-one had any idea what the extent of the damage would be or how long it would take Chloe to recover, if she would recover at all. There was a chance that Chloe might never fully regain control of her voice.
Beca had finally been persuaded by Aubrey and a stammering Chloe to go home for a little while, to shower and get some decent sleep for a change. Beca was gone less than five hours much to Aubrey’s protest, but it was as much time as Beca could bear to be away from her wife when she was in the hospital like this.
It was a week before Chloe was discharged from the hospital, Beca by her side as she limped back into their home on crutches and settled her onto the sofa she had pulled out into a bed; it was too much for Chloe to attempt the stairs right now and there was a bathroom downstairs that she could use without having to worry.
“W-What... n-n-now?” Chloe asked as Beca sat next to her, gently moving her hair from her face.
“Now you get some rest.” Beca smiled softly, “And tomorrow you’ve got that speech therapy guy coming so we can start to work on things. You’ll be back to normal in no time.”
“If... n-n-not?” Chloe’s eyes glittered with insecurity as Beca caressed her cheek, “Wh-Wh-What t-then?”
“Then I will still be here.” Beca promised her, lifting her hand and pressing a soft kiss to the back of it, “And we’ll work it out, we’ll figure something out like we always do.”
“D-D-Don’t w-want t-t-t-” Chloe frowned deeply as Beca wiped away the tear that ran down her cheek with her thumb, “T-T-”
“It’s okay.” Beca could see Chloe getting more and more worked up and sought to soothe, “Take a deep breath, give it a second, and try again. The doctor said that sometimes if you get worked up it’s harder for you to get your words out.”
Chloe swallowed thickly, nodding a little as she closed her eyes for a moment, concentrating hard, “D-Don’t want... t-t-to be... l-like t-this f-f-forever...”
She opened her eyes again to find Beca looking at her with so much love and concern and longing, all of it unconditional, and that made her cry. Because she would never understand what she did to deserve Beca, what she did to be looked at like that, why Beca didn’t just run a mile now that things looked dire. She couldn’t tell her any of this either because her stupid brain was messed up. Chloe hated this.
“I know.” Beca pressed a gentle kiss to Chloe’s forehead, “And we’re going to fight like hell to change things Chlo, I’ll be right here to help you like always.”
-----
“F-F-FUCK THIS!”
Beca ducked as Chloe threw a mug past her head, wincing as she heard it smash against the wall behind her. It had been a frustrating month for Chloe, she’d begun to get a handle on full sentences again, but almost every word was still a struggle for her to get out. It had made her angry and sullen, withdrawing from Beca and Aubrey and the other Bellas, spending most of her time holed up in the bedroom now that her leg had healed well enough for her to use the stairs.
It broke Beca’s heart to see her like this, it was so far removed from the Chloe she had fallen in love with, so far from the Chloe she knew she was, but Beca understood it. Of course she was frustrated, she felt like she couldn’t communicate properly, she couldn’t speak in the way she wanted to, when she wanted to. Anyone would be frustrated and angry.
“Chloe...” Beca sighed softly taking her hand only to have it snatched away again, “It’s okay, just take your time or use the whiteboard-”
“I D-DON’T W-W-W- WANT... TO U-U-USE THE D-DAMN W-W-WHITE... B-B-BOARD!”
Chloe’s face was covered in angry tears, red and flushed as she glared at Beca, “I- I- I W-WANT TO BE N-N-NORMAL AGAIN!”
“I know.” Beca ran a hand through her hair, “I know Chloe. You’re getting better, I know it’s taking longer than you want, but you are getting better Chloe.”
“It d-d-doesn’t feel like it...” Chloe had stopped yelling as she drooped back into her pillows, tears still flowing as she let Beca take her hand, “I j-j-just want t-to b-be able t-t-to ask y-y-y-you a-a-about your d-day w-w-without i-i-it t-t-taking an h-h-hour.”
“I wish I could fix this for you.” Beca’s brow furrowed as she squeezed Chloe’s hand, “I don’t mind if it takes you an hour, or three, or all night, I just want to listen to you talk Chlo.”
“I’m n-n-not t-talking t-though...” Chloe whimpered, “J-Just b-b-butchering s-s-sentences.”
“It’s more than I thought I was going to get.” Beca pursed her lips a little, “When I watched them wheel you off in the ER Chloe I-” She shook her head as she pushed back tears, “I will take whatever you have, whatever you can manage, I don’t care if it takes you ages to finish a sentence, I’m just so grateful that I still have you...”
Chloe cupped Beca’s cheek in her free hand, feeling guilt start to swamp her. Beca was trying so hard for her, and here she was yelling at her and throwing mugs at her head. She deserved better than this.
“I’m s-s-sorry.” Chloe mumbled.
“It’s okay.” Beca turned her head and pressed a kiss to Chloe’s palm, “I get it, you’re frustrated, and you’re tired, and you’re angry at this whole bullshit situation.”
“It’s n-n-not f-f-fair of m-me to t-t-take it o-out on y-you...” Chloe shook her head, sighing heavily.
“Y’know...” Beca sniffed a little as she saw the way that Chloe was withdrawing inwards again. Sure it sucked when she yelled at her, but it was even worse when she shut herself off entirely, “I was reading that singing can help with speech therapy. Do you want to try that?”
Chloe turned to look at Beca again, “S-s-singing?”
“Yeah.” Beca nodded, grinning broadly, “I didn’t understand the science of it, but apparently it uses slightly different part of your brain or something and it helps to stimulate the part that’s working slowly or something.”
“Huh.” Chloe sniffled as she wiped at her cheeks, “B-B-But w-what if I c-can’t?”
“Then we don’t have to do it.” Beca shrugged a little, “But it can’t hurt to try right?”
Chloe nodded a little, looking a little unsure still. Beca took her other hand, giving them both a soft squeeze before she started to sing to Chloe.
“You shout it out, but I can't hear a word you say... I'm talking loud, not saying much. I'm criticized, but all your bullets ricochet... shoot me down, but I get up...”
Chloe grinned tearfully as Beca sang, her heart warming a little. Beca was so good to her, she always had been, ever since they’d met Beca had always had her back.
“I’m b-b-b-b-” Chloe bit her lip, frustration creasing her features, Beca kissing the back of her hand as she stood up.
“I want to try something.” She smiled warmly at Chloe, “Do you trust me?”
Chloe nodded. Of course she did. There was no-one she trusted like Beca.
Beca moved away and came back with a scarf, encouraging Chloe to sit forward a little before tying it around her head, covering her eyes.
“B-B-Beca?”
“I want you focus on the music.” Beca’s voice came from in front of her as Chloe felt the bed shift with her weight, her hands in hers again, “Nothing else. Just the sound of me singing, okay?”
Chloe nodded again.
“You shout it out, but I can't hear a word you say... I'm talking loud, not saying much. I'm criticized, but all your bullets ricochet... shoot me down, but I get up...”
Chloe loved the sound of Beca’s voice, it wrapped around her like a warm hug, it comforted her in a way she could never explain even if she was able to speak properly.
“I'm b-b-bulletproof, nothing to l-l-lose... fire away, f-fire away. R-R-Ricochet, you take y-your aim... fire away, fire away.”
Beca grinned broadly as she heard Chloe’s voice slowly lose its shaky quality. She could feel the excitement rolling off Chloe too, heart swelling to see the smile on her face too.
“You shoot me down, but I won't fall... I am titanium. You shoot me down, but I won't fall... I am titanium.”
Beca and Chloe sang together in the same way they had the first time, when Beca had found her privacy very suddenly invaded by the girl with flame red hair and brilliant blue eyes she’d met only briefly the day before. It meant something different this time, it was slower, (mostly due to Chloe’s limitations) more emotional, more loaded, but it still belonged to them and bound them in a moment that no-one else would ever understand.
“I d-did it...” Chloe breathed, Beca lifting the blindfold before pressing a kiss to Chloe’s lips.
“You did.” Beca nodded, “I’m so proud of you Chlo, you sounded so good.”
“Thank y-you.” Chloe mumbled, gently pulling Beca into her arms, Beca easily slotting next to her as she embraced Chloe, “S-s-singing with y-y-you has always b-b-been my s-saving g-g-grace.”
“It’s my favourite thing to do.” Beca shrugged a little, gently pressing soft kisses into Chloe’s neck, “Every time we did, that we do, it’s like hitting a reset button in my head, everything bad just melts away...”
“M-me t-t-too.” Chloe held Beca tighter, “I love you.”
Beca lifted her head a little, grinning tearfully at Chloe, “Chlo... you haven’t been able to say that without stumbling a little since the accident...”
“I k-k-know.” Chloe pressed herself into Beca, “I m-made the t-therapist h-h-help me n-nail that f-f-first. It’s t-the m-most i-important thing f-for m-me t-t-too say.”
“I love you so much.” Beca shook her head a little, kissing Chloe, “We’ll sing our way through this Chloe, it’s worked for every other problem we’ve ever had, why not this one too?”
Chloe giggled as she shook her head a little, “D-Dork. I c-c-can l-live with th-that.”

“Disagreement” - Paul Lahote x Reader
Tumblr media
Request: “Okay this might be stupid but it’s been in my head a really long time & I don’t write so I was wondering if you could do a Paul angst where his imprint is bellas sister & she chooses to stay by her when pregnant while of course they want to kill her? Too much?? 😂”
A/N: I hope you enjoy what I did with this, I tried to make it a little less intense because I still find the situation so weird in breaking dawn ya know? also i’m off my game now that i’m going through a depressive episode once again so i hope what i gave you is at least a little enjoyable haha
“You have to what?” I blink, staring at Paul with wide eyes.
“Sam says-” Paul tries but I cut him off.
“You have to kill my sister, because Sam says?” I yell.
“(Y/N), you know I have to listen, it’s out of my control.”
“Paul, that is my sister. You’re talking about my sister and my niece or nephew. You’re talking about killing my family. How do you think I could be okay with this?” I seethe.
“Baby, I know. But that baby isn’t a baby, it’s a demon.”
“No, we don’t know that. It’s a baby, Paul. I can’t believe you think I’ll be okay with this. As much as I’m not that fond of her, I can’t let you guys kill her.” I hiss.
“I don’t want to do this, but I don’t have a choice. Alpha’s orders get obeyed whether we want to or not.” His teary eyes bored into mine.
“Well, then don’t expect me to stay by and watch. I’m leaving, you’re free to come with but I’m not letting you do it.” I push past him, walking to our front door.
“(Y/N), baby, please... You know I have to stay.” He pleads.
“Well then I have to leave. And if you kill my sister and unborn niece or nephew or whatever it’ll be, don’t expect me to come back.” I slam the door shut, stomping my way over to my car. I started it, speeding out of there.
I soon found myself at the Cullen’s home, only to be met with an apprehensive Jacob, Leah, and Seth. Edward and Rosalie peered out the window at me.
“I’m not here to cause any issues. I’m not here for Paul or Sam, I left. We had a disagreement.” I hold my hands up in surrender.
“So are you and Paul okay?” Seth asks, looking at me with sad eyes.
“No, not if he tries to kill my sister and unborn family.” I huff, holding my tears back.
“Well, we’re glad to have you around.” Jacob gives me a soft smile.
I nod and make my way over to Leah, placing my head on her shoulder.
The last few days without her, one of my best friends, was very difficult. I wasn’t told why they left exactly, but after Paul told me Sam’s plan, I was thankful for their support.
“Thank you.” I murmur.
“Couldn’t let Seth go off on his own.” She wraps an arm around my shoulder.
“I know.” I smirk, knowing she hated Bella more than anyone else.
Couldn’t necessarily blame her, though.
“Are you okay?” Seth asks.
“No. But I’ll be fine.” I smile sadly. “Can I see her?”
Jacob looks over to the window, looking at Edward. Edward nods his head, causing Jacob’s gaze to fall back onto me.
“Yeah, come on.” He nods, leading me into the massive house.
I follow Jake, feeling all eyes on me. I then saw Bella sitting on the couch, a blanket covering her.
“Hey.” She weakly smiles.
“Hey, Bella. Long time no see.” I smirk, walking over.
“I know, just... prepare yourself.”
“For what?” I raise an eyebrow.
But then I notice her face, all sunken in and hollow. Dark circles overtook her face, she looked like a walking corpse.
“Rose.” She looks to see the blonde woman, holding out her hand.
Rosalie walks over and helped her stand up. Bella’s state was absolutely astonishing. I couldn’t stop the gasp from escaping my lips when I noticed her seemingly malnourished frame stand up. She was skin and bones, except for her protruding belly, it was bigger than the rest of her.
“Wow.” I exhale, trying to look her in the eye.
“Yeah.” She smiles awkwardly. “Thank you for coming.”
“Of course, I can’t sit back and let something happen to you.” I return her gesture.
The next few days were unbearable. I was watching my sister die in front of my very eyes, adamant on having this child. Her husband torn with the outcomes of this situation, everyone was on edge. Jacob was having such a difficult time watching her die, it was simply a lot.
The tension in the house was unsettling. Everyone was so conflicted with the pregnancy, but ultimately it was Bella’s decision. A decision that none of us would be able to sway. I had a feeling this wouldn’t end well, but I was suffering more and more, as the bond between Paul and I was leaving me in severe pain.
I was ignoring his calls, his texts pleading me to come back to the reservation. My ignoring him didn’t get much done, eventually I just shut my phone off. It was too much, I was in too much pain.
Emotionally, I was falling apart. Being apart from him was not only damaging me emotionally, it was causing me physical pain. I felt like my chest was on fire.
I was growing sicker by the day, suffering without Paul. This bond really complicated already complicated situations.
As I sat on the steps with Leah, Jake, and Seth, they perked up at the sound of rustling in the trees.
“Why are they here?” Leah asks.
“I don’t know.” Seth shrugs.
They all began to stand up, and I followed behind. To my surprise, I saw Jared, Collin, and Brady walking out of the treeline.
Brady looked at me, noticing my exhausted face. He stared a little too much.
“What are you guys here for?” Jake asks.
“Sam sent us. We’re here to give you a final opportunity, a final warning.” Jared says with a stern face.
“We’re not coming back.” Seth says deliberately.
After some less than pleasant conversation, the trio left hastily.
“Weird choice of who to send.” Seth tilted his head.
“I thought it was weird, too. I thought he’d send Paul, Embry, and Quil.” I shrug.
“No, he doesn’t trust they’d stay loyal to him. He knows they’d join us.” Leah purses her lips.
“You’re right.” Jacob agrees.
“Brady was checking in on you, it looked like. Paul might’ve told him to.” Leah says.
“Yeah, I figured.”
Sleeping was difficult, once again. I was seemingly falling apart at the seams. It was breaking my heart that Paul was on Sam’s side. It broke my heart to know that the love of my life was betraying me and my wishes. I understand that he can’t disobey Sam and leave his pack, but Jake, Seth, and Leah left to do what was right.
I was tossing and turning in my bed, but I had heard a bit of rustling outside of my window, followed by voices.
I got up, looking out the window to see Jake, Seth, Leah, and Edward talking to Embry, Quil, and Paul.
I felt my stomach drop as I heard Paul yell at Jake.
“I need to see her! It’s not about Sam anymore.” He hisses.
I heard the rest of them talking, though it was too quiet for me to hear. I couldn’t tear my eyes off the fuming figure standing in front of Jacob. Almost fighting him to get to me.
Until our eyes met. I watched as his face softened and a small smile appeared on his place. He looked at me before looking back to Edward, pushing through everyone to get through into the house.
Everyone watched as he entered the house, looking up at me with a soft smile.
I turned around as I heard hurried footsteps approach the room I was staying in. The door burst open and I saw an exhausted looking Paul, the bags under his eyes matched mine.
“I missed you so much, baby.” Paul whispers, hurrying over to hold my face in my hands.
“Paul... I can’t do this if you’re here to kill my sister.”
“If I was here to kill your sister, do you think I would’ve been let into the house? I’m here for you. I left Sam’s pack. The three of us did, he doesn’t know yet.” He rushes.
I grabbed him, pulling him closer to me. I pressed my lips against his, hungrily. I couldn’t bring myself to let go of him. I felt the warmth of his body pressed against my own.
“He won’t do anything with most of the pack leaving. He can’t do it with all of us gone. I know it.” He whispers, pulling me close.
“Good.”
The next few days were easier, though we still worried about an ambush from Sam’s pack.
Bella was growing increasingly ill, but Jacob’s snarky thought found us a solution. She needed to drink blood. It was absolutely nauseating, but it really seemed to help.
Paul’s presence made things easier for me, but it was still gruesome. It was difficult and tensions only rose as the days went past.
Though, Paul was right. Sam’s pack was outnumbered and when they showed up, they realized they weren’t fit to get to Bella and Renesmee. They showed up after Brady’s spying found Bella to have been dead.
But we had proven that the baby was not a threat, after I clutched her in my arms.
They couldn’t do anything to the baby without hurting me. I couldn’t be touched. I was sacred, so thanks fate for saving all of us. Even if I hated my niece’s name.
Thanks fate for Paul. _________________________________ Word Count: 1559

Summary: Y/N is a vampire that the Olympic Coven first crossed paths with after Carlisle created Rosalie. Intrigued by their choice to live by the same lifestyle choice, she stuck around for a decade, but eventually left to do some travelling on her own. Of course, she dropped in on them over the years, and over the visits a bond was formed between her and the Cullen’s—she came to see them as family. Despite her intense love for all five of them, she was closest with Edward, though she didn’t see him as family. Edward became best friend to her—though both agreed that term was pathetic in fully describing the connection they shared. While they were platonic for the most part, neither had qualms against satisfying their needs when the instinct arose, and it worked well for them because neither attempted to make it something more than it was. It’s been a while since she’s paid the coven a visit, so long in fact that she is unaware that the coven has two new members. How will she and a certain blonde vampire react when they discover that they’re mates?
I didn’t realise how long it had been until I really stopped and thought about the last time I’d seen them. Time moves so quickly when you become a vampire that you just get used to it, it becomes meaningless because it has no affect on you—you don’t age, your friends don’t age, so what’s the point in keeping track? You have all the time in the world to see whatever you wish to see, and if your friends and family are also immortal then the same principle applies. Fifty years could pass since you’ve seen the coven you call family and it can feel like it’s only been a week.
And it did. It only felt like a month ago when I was last with Carlisle, Esme, Rosalie, Emmett and Edward. It had been just after Rose had bought the curly haired boy to the blonde vampire, begging for him to be turned into one of us. I’d stayed for about a decade after that and remembered being happy as I observed the way Rosalie lit up for the first time in her immortal life—how she finally embraced the second chance she’d been given and started living again. It had been a relief for everyone—especially Edward, I remembered with a snort; Carlisle had been trying to subtly push his oldest and newest creation together for years at that point. The Doctor was wonderful at many things, but matchmaking was most definitely not one of his strengths.
I’d eventually left them again at the end of fall in 1945, claiming that I wanted to see New York in winter. It had been a lie and it was something I often did. Even though I loved them all as family and I was sure they returned the favour, I worried about overstaying my welcome, and so I forced myself to leave before they could ask. I didn’t usually stay away for long, certainly not over sixty years, but like I said it was easy for time to pass by when you were a vampire. As soon as I’d become aware of how many years had actually passed, I booked myself a flight from London to Washington—just because I hadn’t seen them face to face, I’d still kept in touch via letters. They liked to joke that I was stuck in the nineteenth century due to my preferred method of communication, but I didn’t care—writing letters felt more intimate to me. In Edward’s last letter he mentioned that his family were living in a small town known as Forks in Washington—I’d been there the last time they’d settled in that particular town. As I drove my rented car to their house I idly wondered if there were still any werewolves around for them to keep the treaty with. I supposed I’d have my answer soon enough.
I felt a sense of familiarity wash over me as I passed the “Welcome to Forks” sign and I sensed a wave of security wrap around me like a soft blanket as I caught the familiar sent that would lead me to my family. I’d truly missed them, and I swore right there and then that I wouldn’t let so much time pass without visiting again.
It didn’t take me long to reach the familiar but updated mansion in the middle of the woods—beside some modern improvements it hadn’t changed much and as I stepped out of the vehicle I’d rented I couldn’t help but grin at the memories that washed over me. Teaching Emmett how to hunt. Helping him wrestle with Edward. Shopping trips with Esme and Rose. Playing piano with Edward. Reading with Carlisle.
A happy sigh fell from my lips as I gracefully slung my bag over my shoulder and made my way up the concrete steps. I was about to knock, because even though I knew I was always welcome here I could sense several scents I couldn’t recognise and I didn’t want to alarm anyone, but a rustle of wind caused me to whip around. A grin grew on my face and I dropped my bag by the door before taking off at full speed, following the scent that was so familiar and comforting despite so much time apart. I knew he’d be able to hear my thoughts with more clarity the closer I got, and I thought about manipulating my shield so that I could shock him. But another scent had me thinking better of it—it smelled like he was with a human? I couldn’t be sure because the two scents were so entwined together, but I thought the element of surprise wouldn’t be best if he were with someone I could potentially send into cardiac arrest.
I slowed when I reached the familiar meadow, and I had about two seconds to see him lying next to a very human girl surrounded by grass and flowers before I was suddenly on the ground.
‘Edward!’ It meant to come out as a reprimand, but that was difficult when I was so happy to see him.
‘Y/N!’ He mimicked my tone, pulling me up from the floor and into a fierce hug that I returned with the same enthusiasm, ‘what are you doing here?’
‘I can’t stop by to visit my favourite people?’ I gasped, a mock-offended expression forming on my face but it fell into mirth when he rolled his eyes.
‘Of course you can, you just usually give notice.’ He pointed out, winding an arm around my shoulders as we started to walk. I realised he’d flashed me about fifty feet from the meadow before he’d tackled me and I idly wondered why.
‘I didn’t want to scare Bella.’ He answered my thoughts, ‘she knows what I am, but she’s not met other vampires outside of my family before.’
‘Ah, you’re scared I’m going to bite her.’ I nodded, winking to let him know I was jesting when he looked concerned that I’d taken offence, ‘so you have a girlfriend. I’ll take it that means sex is off the table this time, huh?’
He gave me a look that made me chuckle and after a moment, he joined in.
‘I guess I’ll leave then.’ I sighed, shaking my head in faux disappointment, ‘I only came for a good roll in the sack.’
He playfully shoved me away, laughter on his expression that I’m sure was mirrored in mine.
‘Stop.’ His tone was still light but a seriousness entered his eyes as we approached the edge of the clearing, ‘I haven’t told Bella about you yet, and I don’t want her to get the wrong idea before I’ve had a chance to explain.’
‘It’s not much to explain.’ I shrugged, crossing my arms over my chest, ‘I’m your best friend that you have sex with sometimes.’
His expression became exasperated, ‘I’m not sure she would understand or be satisfied with that explanation.’
‘She should be. I mean, I love you Edward, but I’ve never loved you that way, and neither have you, which is why the whole casual sex thing between us worked so well. We both knew it wasn’t anything more than satisfying our own urges, and it didn’t change anything in our friendship.’ I said, curiously looking over towards the brunette who was patiently waiting for him in the centre of the meadow, the sunlight hitting her face and highlighting the flush on her cheeks.
‘You’re right, I just don’t know how she’ll take that,’ he sighed, tucking his hands into the pockets of the tan leather jacket he was wearing.
‘Well… you don’t have to tell her, I suppose, but then you run the risk of Emmett or Rose making a snide comment around her when they realise I’m back.’ I pursed my lips as I thought it over, ‘you know how they like to tease you, and I’d imagine now you have a girlfriend she would be the perfect pressure point to get your blood boiling. I mean that metaphorically of course.’ I flashed him a grin that he reluctantly returned, ‘I’d be honest with her, Ed. If she finds out somewhere else, it’ll do more damage in the long run—she’ll think you didn’t say anything because it meant more to you than it did blah blah blah. Just be open about it.’
‘You’re right.’ His smile was soft then as he pulled me in for another hug and murmured, ‘I missed you. Don’t stay away so long, okay?’
‘I’m sorry about that, I don’t know where those decades went.’ I shook my head in disbelief as I pulled away, ‘but it won’t happen again, I promise. Now go back to your girl, she’s getting impatient.’ I gestured over to where she was now pacing, ‘I’ll let you introduce me after you’ve given her the information.’
 ‘Thanks, Y/N.’
‘You’re welcome, darling.’ The endearment was a habit I’d picked up in London about a decade ago, and I could see the amusement shining in his eyes before he headed back to Bella.
I turned and ran as soon as he was back to her, figuring he deserved the privacy. Plus, if he was going to tell her about me now, I’d rather not be around encase her reaction wasn’t positive. I mean I’d basically had a “friends with benefits” relationship with her boyfriend for eighty years; I couldn’t exactly blame her if that description didn’t inspire her desire to meet me.
It didn’t take me long to get back to the house and I noted that my bag was no longer where I’d left it as I climbed the steps once again. This time I didn’t think about knocking—I figured my luggage being abandoned on their doorstep was warning enough—so I just walked in.
‘Carlisle? Esme?’ I said, my voice no louder than what I used in a normal conversation. I was about to call out for Rose and Emmett when my arms were suddenly full of a female blonde haired vampire.
‘Y/N! It’s been so long, I’ve missed you so much!’ Rose breathed into my ear as she embraced me—if I’d been human my spine would have been snapped in half at the force she was using, but I returned it tenfold, beyond happy to see her again.
‘I missed you too, Rose.’ I told her, a surprised squeak leaving my lips when we were both suddenly lifted. But when his scent surrounded me I laughed loudly, ‘I forgot how much of a man handling brute you are, Em.’
‘Wow. Back thirty seconds and you’re already pulling out the insults, Y/N?’ He shook his head, a wide grin stretching across his dimpled cheeks, ‘I’m impressed.’
I laughed again, the sounds of two different kinds of wind chimes echoing off the walls, along with a big booming laugh that almost drowned us out.
‘Is that Y/N’s laugh I hear?’ Carlisle’s voice caused Emmett to release Rose and I. As soon as I was back on the ground, I was in my adopted father’s arms, ‘I know you’ve already heard it, but we’ve missed you.’
My eyes glazed over with emotion but I hid it in Carlisle’s chest—if Emmett saw he’d never let me live it down—as I told them how I returned the sentiment in a soft voice. After a few more moments the male blonde vampire released me so that Esme could hold me as well. I’d had to really fight to keep my composure then—the two heads of the coven had become surrogate parents to me, and their embrace always made me feel at home and safe. It was a feeling I’d never experienced anywhere else in the world, and it was something I never took for granted. I appreciated them and their love more than I would ever be able to vocalise, and I was always reminded of that whenever I returned to them.
It took a few moments before I was confident enough that I could speak without making my emotions obvious. When that time came, I pulled away from Esme, smiling when Rose linked an arm through mine and led me to the living room.
‘So what have I missed?’ I asked as I sat in between Rose and Em on the sofa. Carlisle and Esme squeezed together on the loveseat opposite, ‘I’ve noticed the new scents…?’ I trailed off, the question obvious in my tone—new members to the coven hadn’t come up in any of our letters.
‘Yes. Jasper and Alice, they found us actually.’ Carlisle smiled at my surprise, ‘Alice is gifted with visions of the future. When she was turned, she saw the life she would come to have and after picking up Jasper along her way, they found us and have been with us ever since.’
I suspected there was more to the story than that, but I also knew that Carlisle respected everyone’s individual right to their own background. I could feel curiosity burning in my stomach but I ignored it, knowing that the male blonde vampire wouldn’t tell me anything, if I wanted answers I’d have to ask them directly. And that was fine, it was one of the things I respected about Carlisle—he understood the importance behind privacy.
‘That’s amazing. Where are they now?’ I wondered, more than eager to meet the new members of the coven.
‘They’re on a hunting trip. They should be back tomorrow morning.’ Esme smiled and I nodded in response.
We chatted for a little while longer about where I’d been, what I’d seen and why it’d been so long since I’d been back. They seemed to understand that I hadn’t stayed away on purpose, after all they were immortal too; they knew how fickle time could be. But as we caught up I could feel anticipation bubbling up in my gut as I thought about meeting my new family members. I wondered what they would be like, how they would react at my presence—if Alice saw the future did that mean she’d seen me coming? Either way, I was half excited and half anxious over the whole prospect of the introduction. I found myself hoping Edward would be back before then—he was my best friend and he understood me better than anyone, and would therefore help me feel calmer, but I also knew he was a little preoccupied with his human. But that was okay. I was a big girl and it wasn’t like I was being asked to set myself on fire. I was just meeting new people. That’s it. But I couldn’t help but wonder—why was I so nervous?
 //
It was reaching twilight outside when I proposed the idea of hunting. Carlisle and Esme declined as they’d already been out earlier that morning, Rosalie hadn’t but she wasn’t that thirsty, so it was just Emmett and I.
As most things did whenever I was alone with Em, the hunting trip turned into a competition. The one with the biggest kill would be the winner and as we began I felt the swell of excitement vibrate throughout my body. I hadn’t felt this free and slightly childish since I’d left all those decades ago and it was wonderful. Due to the circumstances, the trip didn’t last very long as we both rushed to find the perfect kill. In the end, Emmett won. He managed to take down a deer that was slightly bigger than mine and he was still teasing me about it as we returned to the house.
‘All that time away has really turned you into a softie, huh?’ Em goaded, his hand laying across my shoulders as he squeezed me into his side, ‘too scared to take down the really big ones?’
‘Shut it, brute.’ I rolled my eyes, but the smile on my face told him that I wasn’t really annoyed, ‘this is the first and only time you’ll ever win against me, so I suggest you bask in this fleeting glory.’
He threw his head back, his signature booming laugh echoing off the walls as we entered the mansion. I tried to playfully shove him away, but the force required to break his hold on me would have sent him flying through the wall and I didn’t think Esme would appreciate it. He just pulled me tighter against him and started to ruffle my hair with his other hand.
‘Damn it, Emmett,’ I groaned in irritation and mirth, ‘get off me you heathen!’
I heard a few other laughs join in with Emmett’s and I assumed that meant he’d managed to drag me into the living room—I couldn’t actually see because my hair had fallen around my face like a dark curtain due to his shenanigans.
‘Let her go Emmett.’ Rose chuckled and I breathed a sigh of relief when he complied. I brushed my hair back to where it was supposed to be and sent her a grateful look.
I was just about to ask where Edward was when the sound of two pairs of footsteps approaching the house reached my ears.
‘Sounds like they’re back,’ Esme smiled and stood from her seat on the couch to greet them.
Carlisle came to stand beside me, a hand on my shoulder and I shot him a grateful smile when I realised he could sense my growing anxiety. My breath ceased when they entered. Alice was small and graceful; her pixie hair cut making her look like a delicate fairy rather than a deadly vampire. Here eyes were golden and the excitement shining in them answered my earlier wonderment—she had seen me coming. But it wasn’t her that made my whole body feel like it was burning in the most pleasant way possible. It wasn’t her scent that made a tidal wave wash over me, leaving behind a feeling of warmth and security. Being on the other end of her gaze didn’t make my knees feel weak and my breath quicken.
The vampire responsible for all of these reactions was stood beside Alice, his curious golden gaze on mine. His hair was blonde, wavy and cut to just below his jawline. His skin was covered in scars, all in the shape of teeth and the different sizes indicated they were from multiple assailants rather than just one. I wanted to know the stories behind each of them, I wanted to trace them with my fingertips and erase any painful memories with my touch.
I shook my head, shaking away my wondering thoughts—what the hell was happening? I’d never had this kind of reaction upon meeting someone new before—like a connection had instantly been formed without a word needing to be spoken. It was odd. It was crazy. I took a deep, unnecessary breath and forced a smile.
‘It’s nice to meet you both. I’m Y/N, but I have a feeling at least one of you already knew that,’ I teased, winking at Alice’s knowing look.
The small girl chuckled and bounded forward, wrapping her arms around me and murmuring, ‘we’re going to be great friends, Y/N!’
‘I don’t doubt it.’ I assured her, my nerves dissipating momentarily in her bubbly presence.
When she pulled away and stepped to the side I felt my nerves return as I made eye contact with Jasper. He appeared to be concentrating on something and a moment later I felt a sense of calm spread throughout my body, that only seemed to strengthen as I took in a lungful of his scent.
‘Nice to meet you, Y/N.’ I had to fight to keep my eyes open at the sound of his voice—it was strong, husky and carried a hint of a southern drawl that made me want to groan. How was it possible for me to be this affected by him?
‘Nice to meet you.’ I managed a small but sincere smile that he returned. I had to force myself to look away, lest my breath stop again because of his beauty.
I didn’t understand what was going on, but I did know that I needed some air. I couldn’t take an inhalation without breathing in his scent and that wasn’t helping me clear my head. That was making me want to leap into his arms and never leave. I wondered if his touch would make me feel as safe as his scent did, but I banished that thought as soon as it appeared.
‘I’m going to get some air.’ I said, hoping they didn’t detect the tremor in my voice as I flashed out of the house without waiting for a response.
I made my way to the meadow I’d found Edward in earlier—it was a place we’d both discovered in the five years I’d spent with the family in Forks before I’d moved on. I remembered the night we’d found it—we were supposed to be hunting, but once we wondered upon this clearing we’d both had to stop for a moment and take in the beauty of it. It had been a clear night, allowing the moon and stars to shine through. Eventually Edward decided to leave but I’d stayed and stared up at the beautiful sky until morning; I’d always found something soothing about the moon and stars.
Unfortunately tonight was cloudy, but that was more common than clear in Forks. But I lay back anyway, my eyes fluttering closed as I appreciated the soft breeze that blew through the flowers and grass, heightening the scents of the grass and flowers around me. My stress and anxiety had sky rocketed ever since I’d left the mansion, but being here and surrounded by nature helped quell it a little. Or at least, just enough so that I could think.
It was interesting—now that I was alone, it was easier to separate my reaction to Jasper from the feelings of lunacy and foolishness that immediately followed. I suspected it was because having no one else around helped me separate it from reality, and so acknowledging the strength of my feelings didn’t make me feel idiotic or crazy. Instead it was easy to pretend that the way I suddenly felt connected to the blonde was normal. Even now as I lay in the centre of the rounded clearing, I was aware of the pull I felt towards him, like an invisible string now connected us together and urged me to return to his presence. That realisation should have resulted in the return of my earlier feelings, but instead I felt a wave of reassurance, as if that were completely natural.
I had no idea what was going on, but I didn’t feel any urgency to question it in that moment. I sighed happily as the pull eased, and it took me longer than it should have to realise why that was happening. I’d been so lost in my thoughts that I hadn’t heard his approach, but his scent wrapped around me like a soft, warm blanket. As soon as I’d caught a whiff, I’d sat up, my spine straight as I focused my hearing to determine what direction he was going to come from. But apparently, my reactions had really been slow, because by the time I’d sat up, he’d reached the meadow.
I took another deep breath, attempting to use the security that washed over me with his scent to provide me with the courage I needed to meet his eyes. But I chickened out and allowed my gaze to linger on the blue denim that covered his legs. I could appreciate the muscle definition even through the denim and the wish to see them not covered in fabric suddenly sprang up in my mind. I shook my head to clear it and noticed he’d sat down, crossed legged about three feet in front of me.
‘Hey, Jasper,’ I didn’t speak very loudly, wanting to keep my voice light, but it wasn’t as if he would have to strain to pick up my words, ‘what’s up?’
‘I was going to ask you the same thing. Why did you leave like that?’ he frowned and the sadness in his voice caused me to look into his eyes, ‘do you not want me?’
‘W-what are you talking about?’ I stuttered, had I really been that transparent in my attraction to him?
‘You’re my mate.’ He said as if it were the simplest thing in the world, ‘I thought you realised that when I felt your reaction to my presence.’
My head was suddenly swimming with the information I’d just been given. Jasper was my mate? A sigh of relief fell from my lips, if that were the case then it all made sense. My sudden onslaught of feelings, the safeness, the security, and the attraction—I’d observed all of those characteristics as they appeared between Rose and Em. I couldn’t believe I hadn’t realised it sooner, and I was suddenly overwhelmed with such a strong bought of joy. I had found my mate. I’d never truly believed that would happen for me, that I would be lucky enough to find the person that completed me, that completed my soul.
A sound of surprise fell from Jasper’s lips as I leaped into his arms, causing him to fall backwards; my arms wrapped around his neck and my face fit perfectly into the crook of his neck as I inhaled is scent. I felt his arms wrap around my waist and he used it as leverage to pull me tighter against him. A contented sound fell from both of us and if I hadn’t been so relaxed I would’ve laughed at the simultaneous action.
‘I’m sorry I ran.’ I murmured, my left hand trailed down to his chest and played with the buttons on his blue shirt, ‘I didn’t know what was happening, and feeling so much for you so soon made me feel like I was going crazy.’
A chuckle fell from his mouth as he kissed my forehead, the gesture creating a surge of electricity to surge throughout my body.
‘It’s okay, I understand. If Alice hadn’t told me that I was going to meet my mate soon, I probably would have felt the same way.’ He assured me, his southern drawl becoming thicker as he spoke. I wondered if it was because he was relaxed, because we were alone, or a mixture of the two. Either way it sparked a bolt of arousal and I closed my eyes in an attempt to supress it.
‘What did you mean before when you said you senses my reaction to you?’ I wondered as the conversation replayed through my mind.
‘I can sense and influence the emotions of others.’ He said, his cool breath caressing the side of my face. I sighed at the warmth it left behind.
‘That sounds really… overwhelming.’ I pursed my lips as I contemplated that—it was similar to Edward’s gift in a way. Always having everyone’s emotions or thoughts just constantly buzzing in the back of your mind must have been irritating.
‘It was at first, but over the years I’ve learned to control it,’ his hand moved through my hair as he spoke, ‘sometimes it’s difficult, especially if I’m thirsty, but for the most part I’m used to it.’
I nodded as best as I could with my head resting on his chest—I could relate to what he meant a little, and I told him so as I explained my abilities to him. I was a shield, which meant I had the ability to cast a shield around my mind or body, depending on the kind of attack I was facing. Edward had originally thought he couldn’t read my mind when we’d first met, only to be completely shocked when I’d felt comfortable enough to drop my mental shields around the family. For the most part I had control over when I would wield it, but if I were ever taken by surprise or felt threatened it would come forward and protect me.
‘Is it visible?’ he asked, curiosity shining in his tone.
‘It can be. It depends on whether I want people to know I’m using it or not.’ I said, rearranging our position so that he was sitting crossed legged again and I was I his lap, ‘I’ll show you.’
I sent him an excited smile before I closed my eyes, concentrating as I willed my shield to wrap around us like a bubble. I felt the light on my face as it glowed bright blue, illuminating the meadow we were in. Jasper’s gasp of wonder made me smile and I pictured my shield rising off the ground by a few feet before I opened my eyes. I expected him to be looking at the glowing shield that surrounded us, and my breath caught when his golden eyes were fixed on me. I’d never been on the receiving end of a look so potent with adoration and awe.
We moved together without thought, our lips meeting in a tender kiss that quickly became vigorous with passion. I had no idea if my shield was still keeping us afloat, but I didn’t care—a meteor could have hit the earth in that moment and I wouldn’t have noticed. I was completely overwhelmed with him; his intoxicating scent that was both sweet and spicy, his touch that was soft and smooth against mine, and his own skin that remained smooth despite the ridges that I felt as my hands slid down his arms. The moment was perfect and as our lips moved together as if we’d kissed a thousand times before, I couldn’t help the feeling of gratitude that joined all of the other emotions swirling throughout my body. Because I’d actually found him. My mate. My other half. And I was never going to take him for granted, because this connection, this kind of love, was a gift.
 //
Epilogue: one year later, coming up to the newborn battle in Eclipse.
‘Honestly, the trouble that your mate attracts is astounding, Ed.’ I teased, twisting my body and allowing my arms to spin in circles like a child. I had to get the nervous energy out somehow—we’d all gathered for Jasper to train us on the best way to fight newborns successfully.
I was excited to fight and nervous to potentially watch my mate get hurt, even though I knew that wasn’t likely—he was the most experienced in combat after all.
‘You don’t have to tell me,’ Edward rolled his eyes, recognising that I was only jesting.
A few of us chuckled when Bella smacked his shoulder and frowned when she ended up hurting herself.
‘She’s going to have more anger issues than you when she’s turned, Y/N.’ Emmett teased, his booming laugh echoing around the trees as I flipped him off.
We all tensed as the footsteps of the approaching pack reached our ears. Ten of them stepped out of the shadows and I wrinkled my nose as their scent invaded the clearing. My eyes narrowed at the sound of their growling and I couldn’t help the invisible shield that expanded from me to cover my family. I stepped forward to stand beside Jasper, my fingers entwining with his protectively.
‘Hey there darling,’’ he smirked, the southern drawl coating his words wonderfully.
I didn’t answer; instead I rested my head on his shoulder, knowing he could feel my anxiety already. I took a deep breath, comforted as his scent washed over me. I wished I could bury my head in his chest—I knew his arms would make me feel completely content—but I restrained myself, as it obviously wasn’t the time.
‘They don’t trust us enough to be in their human forms.’ Edward translated from where he was stood behind Jasper and I.
I rolled my eyes, sure to keep my shield in place—if they didn’t trust us then I sure as hell wasn’t going to trust them.
‘I have a shield around us all,’ I murmured in Jasper’s ear, my volume low enough that the words stayed between us—and Edward seeing as he could read our thoughts—the blonde’s eyes met mine, his dark eyes shone with affection and assurance. I sent him a wink before we both turned to watch as the meeting officially began.
Carlisle stepped forward, his behaviour calm and inviting, ‘welcome. Jasper here has some experience fighting newborns; therefore he can show us the most successful and efficient ways of defeating them.’
‘They wanna know how newborns are different from us.’ Edward said, his tone lower than how he usually spoke as he relayed the wolves words.
‘They're a great deal stronger than us, because their own human blood lingers in their tissues. Our kind is never more physically powerful than in our first several months of this life.’ Our leader answered, looking over at the blonde next to me and nodding at him to continue.
Jasper squeezed my hand and stepped forward, turning his back to the wolves without hesitation and addressing his family directly. I noticed one of the wolves take a step forward at the sight of him being vulnerable and I bit back a growl, knowing we were all safe even if they did try to attack.
‘Carlisle is right. That's why they are created. A newborn army doesn't need thousands like a human army. And no human army could stand against them. The two most important things to remember are, first—never let them get their arms around you. They'll crush you instantly. The second—never go for the obvious kill. They'll be expecting that. And you will lose. Emmett? Don't hold back.’ Jasper smirked, gesturing for the curly haired vampire to come forward.
They faced off and Emmett grinned, ‘not in my nature.’
I bit my lip, folding my arms over my chest as I tried to force myself to stay still. Seeing your mate fighting—even against someone you considered family—was something I still struggled to witness. I don’t know how the others handled it, but I assumed it was something that would get better with time.
Emmett went to charge towards the blonde haired vampire and I winced, my hands moving to cover my eyes involuntarily. I waited for the sound that would indicate they’d crashed together but it didn’t come. I was confused, but unwilling to look until I knew the coast was clear.
‘Y/N?’ Jasper’s voice sounded amused and I couldn’t help but drop my hands to see what had caused it.
If I were still capable of blushing I was sure my face would be bright red in that moment—Emmett was surrounded by a separate shield that glowed an angry red and had lifted him ten feet off the ground. I’d seen my shield appear to protect me when I felt threatened, but this was the first time it’d reacted to save someone I cared about being in danger.
‘Do you think you could release Emmett?’ Jasper asked, mirth still present in his voice.
I bit my lip to hide my smile as I slowly lowered the curly haired brunette before retracting the shield, ‘sorry about that.’
I sheepishly stepped back, hoping that if I weren’t so close it would mean I wouldn’t be as tempted to interfere. My arm linked through Rose’s and I ignored her smirk and focused my attention on the front. I hadn’t realized how protective I could be until I’d met Jasper and if he didn’t return the sentiment just as strongly as I did, I would have felt awful about it.
Emmett was charging forward with brute strength, but Jasper was moving too fast for him to catch. He kept trying, but his hands met air, and Jasper managed to catch him by surprise and throw him to the ground. The curly haired vampire attempted to retaliate but Jasper disappeared and re-appeared behind him, his teeth an inch from his throat. I smiled, amused and a little aroused by Jasper’s abilities to gain the upper hand so quickly.
He gestured for me to come forward and I laughed when I saw he was paring me with Edward—he knew I’d bring up my mental defenses to prevent the mind reader from having the upper hand. While the bronze haired vampire was the fastest in our coven, I was the stealthiest and evaded his grasps easily. Though I had a little too much fun letting him think he had me in his grasp, only to move away at the last second. Eventually I put an end to it, leaping onto his back, my teeth an inch from his throat.
‘Got you.’ I smirked and jumped down, playfully shoving his shoulder as we moved out of the way to make room for the next pair.
‘Not so good without your parlor trick, Ed.’ I laughed when he shoved me three feet away from him, his eyes rolling when Jasper growled warningly.
We fell further back and watched as the other pairs fought and I found myself much more relaxed now that Jasper settled into his role of instructor. He watched the others and offered pointers to help their stance, and didn’t lead another demonstration. Eventually we reached the end of the session, and I could see Edward’s relief as Bella was practically passed out against his side.
‘They want to know if you’d allow them closer to take in our scents. It’ll make it easier to avoid confusion during the battle.’ Edward said, his arm tightening around his human’s waist the sleepier she got.
 ‘Very well.’ Carlisle agreed.
Jasper came to stand beside me and I dropped my shield with a sigh, not wanting to create any tension if they tried to step towards us only to be stopped by an invisible barrier. It was incredibly hard not to flinch as each werewolf stopped in front of each of us, tentatively sniffing before moving on. I understood that werewolves were people and I didn’t resent them because of their species or because it was in my “DNA” to despise them. I was on edge because I was aware of how much they resented all vampires. I’d heard plenty from them since we’d returned to Forks a few months ago, and I hated it. But they were helping us here, so I forced down my unease, which was a lot easier with Jasper by my side.
Being loved by the blonde vampire made me feel an abundance of feelings. In that moment I was aware of how he made me feel powerful, confident and protected, so much so that the wolves passed by without me even noticing. As we made our way back to the mansion, running hand in hand, I realized why I’d been so calm about the upcoming battle. Even before the wolves offered their help when us winning wasn’t certain, I hadn’t been afraid, because I knew I’d have Jasper by my side throughout the battle and after.
As long as I had my mate by my side, there wasn’t anything that we would have to face alone. And there wasn’t anything that would survive trying to hurt us or our family.

Emmett and I are standing in the parking lot of the school. Today Mr. Molina is having his junior classes go on a field trip to a Community College Greenhouse nearby. I didn’t want to go but my mom already signed Jessica and my permission slips. Emmett is skipping his first class of the day to spend a few more minutes with me since he won’t see me all day.
I play with his hand as he tells me about his fight with Ian yesterday. It wasn’t an actual fight. Emmett was winning at some video game they were playing when Ian smacked the controller out of his hand...breaking it.
“Esme was so…” Emmett pauses and raises an eyebrow.
“What?” I whisper.
“Bella just got asked to prom by Mike Newton.” He whispers with a small smirk.
I giggle and shake my head. “Of course she did.”
“Apparently, she’s going on a trip to Jacksonville. Non-refundable ticket.” He continues.
I roll my eyes. “Such a liar.”
“She told him to ask Jessica.”
“Oh, thank God.” I sigh, happily. “Hopefully he will. I’m tired of hearing about him so much.”
“Alright, come on everyone! I need your slips and you need to get on a bus!” Mr. Molina calls out.
I sigh and look up at Emmett. He smirks slightly and cups my neck, leaning down toward me. I lean up on my tip toes to meet him in the middle. The kiss would have lasted longer if my sister didn’t call for me.

“Jade, come on! I’m saving you a seat!”
I pull away and sigh. “I’ll see you after?”
“I’ll be waiting.” He kisses my forehead before patting my hip.
I shake my head and walk away from him, feeling my cheeks getting warm. I hand Mr. Molina my permission slip before getting on the bus. I see my sister in the back so I walk down the aisle toward her. I sit in the seat with her, us both knowing that Mike will sit with Eric. I’m not excited about this ride.

I watch as Mr. Molina is demonstrating the compost machine and I start laughing as Tyler gets yelled at for trying to drink the compost tea. I yelp as I’m pulled backward by the hood of my jacket. I lose my footing because of it and almost fall backward...until the person lets go of my hood and puts their COLD hands on my back, causing me to shiver.
“What, Edward?” I ask, turning around, knowing it was him.
“Come with me.”
He then grabs my wrist and pulls me forward so I’m walking ahead of the compost table, towards the rest of the kids. I pull on my wrist but he just tightens his grip. I clench my jaw at the small amount of pain. There’s going to be a bruise if he doesn’t snap my wrist first. Emmett is going to be pissed! He finally lets go of my arm when he slows his steps.
“What’s in Jacksonville?” I hear Edward ask from in front of me.
I raise an eyebrow and look around him to see Bella looking at some of the plants.
“How did you know about that?” She asks, glancing at him.
“You didn’t answer my question.” Edward tilts his head.
“You haven’t answered any of mine. You won’t even say hello.” She comments.
“Hello.” He smartly says.
“And how did you stop that van?” She finally turns around to look at him, not noticing me.
“Adrenaline rush. Very comment. Google it.” He shrugs, nonchalantly.
“Do I have to be here?” I ask, walking around him.
“Yes.” He says while Bella says, “No.”
“Great.” I turn around but he grabs my arm and pulls me back.
Bella rolls her eyes and looks up at Edward. “Floridians. That’s what’s in Jacksonville.”
She turns around to storm off but she stumbles over the irrigation hose. Edward lets go of my arm to steady her and clenches his jaw.
“It helps if you actually watch where you’re going.” He growls softly.
She shrugs him off her and starts walking while Edward and I follow, keeping her pace.
“I know I’ve been rude, but it’s for the best.” He says.
Before she can comment, he turns and walks past me as my sister runs up. Him leaving causes me to be standing right next to her.
“Guess who just asked me to prom!” She says excitedly, causing Bella to smile.
“Seriously?” I ask, squealing slightly.
She nods fast and I pull her in for a hug. “I’m so happy for you!”
She happily hugs back and giggles.
“Thanks!” She pulls from the hug and looks at Bella as we all continue to walk. “I totally thought Mike was going to ask you, Bella. Is it gonna be weird?”
“No way.” Bella shakes her head. “Zero weirdness. You guys are great together.”
“I know, right?” Jessica says, smiling so wide her face might split in half.
She then turns and runs toward Angela. Bella looks at me with a raised eyebrow.
“What?” I ask.
“Why are you…” She stops when Edward walks up behind us.
“Bella, it would be better if we weren’t friends.” He says, looking down at her as we walk out of the greenhouse.
“Too bad you didn’t figure that out earlier.” She says, snapping slightly. “You could have let the van crush us and saved yourself all this regret.”
“You think I regret saving you?” He snaps, leaving me out of it.
“I know you do.” She says, stopping beside the bus.
“You don’t know anything!” He says, furiously.
“Edward…” I try to speak up but his head snaps toward me.
I bite my lip and look down, clenching my fists angrily, not wanting to start a fight. I suddenly feel super calm a few seconds before a hand rests on my lower back. I glance to my right to see Alice is standing beside me, meaning Jasper is standing behind us. The only reason he probably put his hand on my back was to let me know he was there. He doesn’t have to touch me for his powers to work.
Discreetly, I reach back and pat his hand, meaning thank you. He opens and closes his hand before removing it. Alice looks at Edward before she speaks.
“The bus is leaving.” Alice then smiles softly at Bella. “Hi! Will you be riding with us?”
“No.” Edward shakes his head. “Our bus is full.”
He then smacks the bus window and walks up the stairs when the door opens. Alice sighs and follows him up. Taking a step around me, Jasper looks at me.
“Are you…”
Before he can finish, Bella grabs my arm and pulls me toward her bus. What’s with everyone pulling me places?! I glance back at Jasper with my bottom lip pushed out in a small pout. He smirks slightly before shrugging as if saying, ‘what can I do?’
I glare at him playfully before walking around the front of the bus to get on with Bella.
Tumblr media
I get off the bus and glance around the parking lot for my vampire. He’s leaning against his Jeep, talking with Rosalie. I slip my bag over my shoulders and take off in his direction. When I get a few steps away, he quickly turns and catches me in his large arms as I jump lightly. I laugh and wrap my arms around his shoulders.
“I missed you.” He whispers in my ear, holding me close.
“I missed you! I was so bored.” I whine slightly.
He chuckles and kisses my cheek before putting me down. I put my hands on his chest when I get lowered causing Rosalie to raise an eyebrow.
“What happened to your wrist?” She points.
Looking down, I see my jacket had slipped up my arm a little. I roll my eyes and sigh.
“Edward.” I state.
“What did he do?” Emmett growls slightly.
He gently picks up my hand to take a look at the damage. I explain the whole story causing Emmett to shake his head.
“He needs to stop.” Ian speaks up. “Just because you’re hum...you’re you, doesn’t mean he can push and pull you around.”
“It’s getting on my damn nerves.” Emmett agrees. “His singer is Bella. He needs to leave you alone. I thought I told him to back off. Guess I’ll have to talk to him again.”
“I’ll join you.” Ian says, cracking his neck slightly.
“Speaking of the devil, she’s coming over.” Rosalie whispers.
I glance to the side to see Bella walking over toward us with a smile on her face. Stopping beside Emmett, she fixes her jacket slightly.
“Hey, Emmett. Can I talk to you privately?” She asks as sweetly as she can.
“We’re out.” Ian says, wrapping an arm around Rosalie’s waist.
They both glance at me before getting into Ian’s Chevy Camaro. Sighing, I look back at Bella as they pull out of the parking spot. She stares at me with a raised eyebrow.
“What?” I ask.
“I asked to talk to him privately.” She says as if it was so obvious.
“You’re point?” I ask with a blank face.
“Whatever you want to say to me, you can say to her.” Emmett says, slightly quoting himself from when we were at the hospital.
She shrugs slightly before looking at him again.
“Have you been working out?” She asks innocently, feeling his bicep.
“No?” He raises an eyebrow, removing his arm from her grasp.
“You look extra buff today.” She smiles softly, not caring about his movement.
“Thank you?” He says, glancing at me.
“Your hair also looks super soft today.” She reaches up to touch it.
He quickly moves his head out of the way as if her hand was on fire and steps backward with me still in his arms.
“Don’t touch him. Just get to the point.” I say, wanting to go home.
“What are you doing this weekend?” She asks, ignoring me.
“Jade and I are going to…” He starts.
“Nothing? Great. Um, I need help with my biology and I was wondering if you would tutor me?” She bites her lip. “Since you’ve already taken the class.”
“Did you hear him?” I move from his arms. “We’re going to…”
“I heard him. He said he wasn’t busy.” She looks at me.
“No, that’s what you wanted to hear.” I say, biting my cheek.
“Emmett, isn’t that what you said?” She looks back at him.
“No, Bella. It’s not.” He shakes his head, leaning against his Jeep again.
“Listen, Isabella, this sorry excuse for flirting you’re doing? It’s gonna stop.” I cross my arms.
“Or what?” She steps toward me, trying to seem tough.
“I’ll kick your ass. Emmett is my boyfriend, not yours.”
“Really? It seems like you're dating Edward more than Emmett.” She smirks slightly.
“Because Edward doesn’t want to be alone when he’s talking to your bitchy ass doesn’t mean shit. Leave Emmett alone, alright?” I say, not backing down.
“I can talk to whoever I want.” She shrugs.
“Except him.” I state. “You’re just trying to make Edward jealous. It’s not going to work.”
“I’m not trying to do anything.” She shakes her head.
“Yeah you are. He said it would be better if you weren’t friends, remember? So now you’re trying to hang around Emmett.”
“I just thought he and I could be friends. He seems cool.” She tries to say.
“He is but you know nothing about him to come to that conclusion.” I watch her.
She stutters for a second. “I know he...umm…”
“Exactly. Now back up and go home before we have a confrontation.” I step toward her. “I don’t give a shit that your dad is the Chief of Police.”
“You wouldn’t hit me.” She says, shocked.
“I’d leave if I were you, Bella.” Emmett smirks.
Bella’s eyes widen before looking at me again. “You’re a very controlling girlfriend.”
“I don’t care.” I shrug. “But it’s only when girls, like yourself, are throwing themselves at him. Especially ones that are trying to get into one of his brother's pants and try to be friends with him to get the chance.”
Tumblr media
“I don’t want to get into Edward’s pants.” She says, offended.
“I didn’t say which brother this time, did I?” I smirk. “Go.”
She swallows her spit before turning around and walking to her car. I don’t move from my spot until I see her pull out of the parking lot. I look over my shoulder when I feel arms wrap around my waist.
“That was the hottest thing I have ever seen.” Emmett whispers in my ear.
I blush slightly with a smile and put my hands on his, which are laced at my stomach.
“She needs to learn not to touch what’s mine.” I comment.
“I am yours. The world will know it one day.” He says, kissing the back of my head. “Come on. Ian texted saying he wanted to hang out with us while Alice and Rosalie do something.”
“Sounds good to me!” I turn around.
“Wait.” He says, stopping me from walking.
I look at him as he takes my arm again and inspects my wrist. He shakes his head before letting me go. He then loosens his Cullen Crest bracelet taking it off his wrist. I watch him as he slides it over my own and tightens it slightly, making sure it doesn’t fall off. It covers the whole bruise. Looking into my eyes, he begins to speak.
“I don’t want your mom to see it. She might kill me.”
“But Emm, this is your Cullen Crest. I can find…” He kisses my lips to stop me from talking.
I blush as we pull away and look at him.
“You are a part of this family too. You deserve one before we get married.” He smirks slightly before walking me around his Jeep.
“Are you…”
“Yes, I’m sure.” He chuckles. “Just get your sexy ass in the car.”
I roll my eyes playfully before listening to him for once.
Tumblr media
I take a sip of my Capri Sun that Esme bought me before sitting down on the couch. Ian begins talking about different movies we can watch.
“Jade here doesn’t watch movies.” Emmett says, sitting down.
Ian’s head snaps toward me with an offended look on his face.
“How can you not like movies? Not liking movies is not liking…” He thinks before pointing to Pip who is laying on the floor. “Not liking puppies.”
“It’s not that I don’t like them. I just get bored before I get to the end and turn them off.” I shrug.
“Endings are the best part!” Ian throws his hands out as if it was obvious.
“They’re so predictable. The guy gets the girl. The kid sees dead people and Darth Vader is Luke’s father…” I start but Ian cuts me off.
“Oh, right like you just so happened to guess the biggest cinematic reveal in history?” Ian raises an eyebrow.
“Vader in German means father. His name is literally Darth Father.” I nod, taking another sip of my drink.
Tumblr media
“Huh.” He bites his lip. “So, you know German. Now I know why you don’t like fun things.”
“I like Emmett.” I smirk.
“Damn right she does.” Emmett chuckles, pulling me closer to him.
“I don’t need to know about your sexual escapades." Ian playfully shivers in disgust.
“Remember that time you were telling me about Rose…”
I start but Ian jumps toward me and covers my mouth.
“Shhh….She doesn’t…”
“IAN! WHAT DID YOU TELL HER?” Rosalie yells from upstairs. “Get your ass upstairs!”
Ian drops his head in defeat causing me to laugh.
“I hate you.” Ian teases slightly before rushing upstairs.
“Anyway!” I giggle and look at Emmett. “So my sister and our friends want to go to La Push tomorrow. I told them I’d go since I haven’t hung out with them in a while. That okay?”
I know I don’t have to ask his permission but it’s still polite to ask since he can’t come. After a few second pause, he nods.
“Sure baby. Just...Be careful.”
“I know you can’t go there so you’re going to have to find something to do without me.” I tease.
“Oh no! Whatever shall I do without my girlfriend?” He says in a mono-tone voice, putting his hand on his chest.
“I don’t know.” I shrug. “Die?”
“Probably.” He laughs. “At least I’ll have Pipsqueak.”
“Who said I was leaving him with you?” I raise an eyebrow playfully.
“Me. I need some part of you to keep me occupied.” He pats his lap, causing Pip to jump up and run over.
I shake my head, giggling. “He likes you more than he likes me.”
“Nah, I’m just the cool dad.” He picks him up.
“Dad, huh?”
“Yep and you’re his mom.” He smiles, kissing my cheek.
I blush and pet Pip whose tail wags happily.
Tumblr media
It’s the next day and it’s freezing outside. I tried to get my sister and the others to reschedule but they really wanted to go today. I finish helping my sister get into her surfing suit before walking back over to Bella and Angela who are trying to stay warm inside of the van. Bella has on a heavy jacket while sharing a blanket with Angela.
“I keep thinking Eric’s going to ask me to prom, then he just...doesn’t.” Angela says, holding her camera close to her chest.
“You could ask him.” Bella says, causing Angela to shake her head. “Take control. You’re a strong independent woman.”
“I am?” She asks, softly.
“For once, I agree with Bella. You are.” I nod, stopping to lean next to the passenger door.
“Bella!” We hear.
I look over my shoulder to see three Quileute boys approaching. Bella smiles widely at one of them as he leans against the van next to her. The other two stand beside me, watching their friend. The one closest to me has shoulder length hair while the other one’s hair is longer than mine.
“Guys, this is Jacob Black.” She introduces us before looking at him again. “Are you stalking me?”
“You’re on my rez, remember?” Jacob chuckles. “You surfing?”
“Definitely not.” She shakes her head.
My sister walks over and grabs something from the van with a smirk.
“Keep her company. Her date bailed.” She teases.
“Woah...There’s two of you.” The one closest to me glances at me then at Jessica.
“Twins.” Jessica and I say at the same time, causing us to laugh.
Before he can speak again, Eric pops up out of nowhere.
“What date?”
“She invited Edward.” My sister teases.
“To be polite.” Bella shrugs, embarrassed.
I roll my eyes. Since I threatened her yesterday, she went back to bothering Edward.
“I think it’s nice she invited him. No one ever does.” Angela shrugs. “Even with Jade dating Emmett, they don’t ever hang out with us.”
“Because the Cullen’s are freaks.” Mike says, walking up.
My head snaps toward him causing him to back up.
“Sorry.” He swallows deeply. “Forgot you were here.”
“He’s right.” The boy farther away from me speaks up.
“You know them?” Bella asks.
“The Cullens don’t come here.” He says sharply.
“That doesn’t make them freaks.” I say, turning toward him.
“They are, though. They don’t ever hang out with anyone besides each other and you.” Mike shrugs, sticking up for the boy.
“You don’t hang out with anyone but us, does that make you a freak, Michael?” I say, stepping toward him.
“No but…”
“Then leave the Cullen’s name out of your mouth.” I snap, causing the boy next to me to wrap an arm around my waist.
He pulls me a few feet away from the group.
“Come on, let’s take a walk.” He whispers.
I let the boy pull me away but my glare doesn’t leave Mike until he looks away. I turn around and follow the boy down the beach for a few minutes. We both don’t know what to say. We’re walking in silence until he breaks it.
“I’m Embry, by the way.” He says, glancing at me. “I’m guessing you’re Jade?”
“I am. How could you tell?” I joke slightly.
“Well, they said Jade was dating a Cullen then you stuck up for them so…” He trails off.
I nod at his words. “That’s me.”
“You been dating him long?” He asks, stepping over a log before putting his hand out to me.
“Almost two years.” I say, taking his hand to step over the log as well.
“Gotcha.” He nods, letting my hand go.
“Who was that kid anyway?” I ask, putting my hands back in my pockets.
“That was Sam.” He informs me. “We have legends in our tribe and he takes them way too seriously.”
“Legends? What are they?” I raise an eyebrow.
“It’s just an old story Jacob’s dad tells everyone.” He shrugs. “Our tribe apparently descends from wolves.”
“Like ‘Full Moon Wolves’?” I ask.
“No.” He chuckles. “‘Shift at any time wolves’.”
“Oh. Gotcha.” I nod.
“The legend about the Cullens are...Well apparently they descend from this ‘enemy clan’ but they claimed to be different so we made a treaty with them.” He explains.
“But they just moved here.”
“Or just moved back.” Embry teases me.
I roll my eyes and giggle slightly. Fuck! Jacob is probably telling Bella the same story and I’m guessing from the way he was looking at her before...He’ll tell her everything she wants to know.
“And the treaty?” I continue the conversation as we walk.
“If they promised to stay off Quileute lands, we wouldn’t expose what they really were to the…” He gestures to me. “Pale-faces.”
I roll my eyes. “And Sam really believes this?”
He chuckles and nods. “Yeah. Almost everyone in our tribe does.”
“What a way to spread rumors.” I shake my head, stopping my footsteps. “Come on. Let’s get back before they think we ran away.”
Tumblr media
Later that night, I’m sitting in the Cullen’s living room after revealing what Embry told me.
“And he just told you all of this?” Ian asks, raising an eyebrow.
I nod. “A kid named Sam was saying how you guys are freaks and don’t come onto their lands. So Embry told me the reason behind it…”
Carlisle sighs and nods. “It’s true…”
“Wait, Carlisle, we can’t tell her.” Esme says, speaking up.
“He already told her the legends, sweetheart. It’s different now.” Carlisle says before looking at me again. “We made a treaty with Ephraim Black that if we stick to being vegetarians and never harm a human or step on their lands, they will leave us alone.”
I nod at his words. “Wait, you said Black?”
“Yes.” He nods.
“That’s Jacob’s last name...The one that went on a walk with Bella. He was probably telling her the same story.” I glance around at everyone.
“Which means she’ll find out about us a lot sooner than we thought.” Emmett says, turning to look at his adopted father.
“Alice.” Carlisle turns to her.
She looks to the side and her eyes get a little glossy. “She didn’t find out from him. But she’s going to try another way. She just hasn’t picked it yet.”
“Great!” Rosalie snaps. “Just what we need. Bella snooping into our business even more.”
“There’s nothing we can do now...but wait…” Carlisle sighs.
Emmett and I glance at each other with straight faces. What are we going to do now?

An update in the ongoing Sims 2 Troubleshooting Drama, partially complaint, partially asking for ideas, partially just to prove I am still working on it.
The backstory is that last week, I was installing new CC in every moment I could, working on my Megakingdom, and slowly started experiencing regular inconsistent crashes. On Saturday, I discovered an attempt to load the Cordial home to remodel it made the game crash. That killed all my Megakingdom plans for the weekend. I spent Saturday concerned that my computer had randomly decided to stop cooperating with The Sims 2 after a minor update; it did that before a couple years ago. So Saturday was spent struggling in vain in an attempt to upgrade my game’s cooperation. I don’t think it hurt anything, but it emphatically did not fix the problem. On Sunday, I tested generating a completely blank Sims 2 documents folder, and it appeared to work fine, thus verifying that it was actually more of a CC problem. And I realized that, no, 25 GB of CC is way too much. I never felt like I had that much because there were always gaps, and I was deleting unthemed stuff anyway and... but no, 25 GB is just too damn much.
So Monday, a day I had off for a three day weekend, I spent the day compressorizing, clearing out any excess CC I could find, and doing everything I could to try to make it functional again. I got the main downloads folder to a little under 19 GB, plus about 3-4 GB of Objects Recolors and Floors and Walls outside of that, and it now works well enough that I can safely comb through CAS for anything removable, load up an empty test lot to go through build mode stuff, and even load at least one premade lot safely (the Smith household, in a test Strangetown). But the Specter household, which was an early one I tried loading, crashes every time. Now, tonight, with my game in a shape where it almost seems playable, I tested -adding a fresh shopping district Strangetown to a new testing hood and seeing if the Specter lot still crashed, which it did, and -removing my entire collection of mods and defaults to see if that made any difference, which it did not. That says to me that I did NOT somehow damage the crashing lots, and they are crashing because the problem is still present. I am guessing/hoping either “still too much CC” or “one hidden default replacement is fucking things up”, but I really don’t have anything recently installed that isn’t in one of the folders I tested. I’m trying to remove a few individual possible problem files with DDO before bed so I can test again tomorrow, but I added a lot of CC over the past few weeks, and it’s been a while since I was last able to load the Cordial home. I’m scared to test it until I figure out the test Specter home, although fingers crossed that if worse comes to worse I can move them out and build them an entirely new house. I don’t know what CC could possibly be affecting both the Specter house and the Cordial house, though. Unless there’s an issue with the CEP, somehow?
Anyway, troubleshooting will be ongoing, and I am not going to touch the Megakingdom until I am confident I have the problem solved, lest I break it. Which is a shame, because right before this started I had some fun ideas about how best to incorporate Townie Bella (...if she exists, I am not sure the precise level of empty my templates were when I installed) and Kaylynn Langerak. (...Bella was stolen by faeries, obviously. She cannot return to the hood until somebody befriends her and invites her to move in, and her unnatural youth and memory loss is the result of her time away. Kaylynn, meanwhile, I am thinking will have to be the live-in Royal servant.)
Anyway wish me luck, and any advice anyone has would be great.

69. “We are not going to steal someone’s dog.” with Michael, Gavin and Jeremy please!
 69. (nice) “We are not going to steal someone’s dog.”
Trigger Warning for brief mentions of animal abuse. Nothing is graphically explicit and everything turns out ok and the dog is rescued, but the thought of an injured animal is triggering or otherwise too emotionally distressing for you, go ahead and keep scrolling
The Mad Lad’s Animal Rescue Agency [ao3]
It’s odd.
As far as Michael knows, both Gavin and Jeremy are what he would consider cat people. Pets aren’t allowed in the penthouse, of course, but both get swept up in conversations about what they would name potential future cats, and both go out of their way to set out food and water for the strays of the city.
So when the two come to him cooing and gushing about a sweet looking pit bull they’ve met, Michael is a little astonished when they start telling him their plans for whisking her away in the dead of night.
“We’re not stealing someone’s dog,” he deadpans, and he can’t fucking believe that he has to say it.
“Awww, c’mon Michael, why not? Lookat her!” Gavin whines, shoving his phone in his face.
And, yeah, alright, she’s fucking cute — chocolate brown fur; a light pink tongue lolling out of her mouth; a tail that’s blurry because it’s wagging so fast; and large, shining brown eyes that are staring adoringly at Gavin in the selfie he’s taken — but Michael can’t just let his boys go off and steal a dog for no good reason. “Because it’ll shit all over the goddamn floor!” he argues. “Where are we gonna keep her, Gavin? We gonna make her ride an elevator every time she needs to take a piss?”
But the thing about Gavin is that once he gets something in his head, there’s really no stopping him. And with Jeremy involved, really, all Michael can do is hope to mitigate the inevitable collateral damage.
It’s ass o’clock in the morning when Michael pulls into what is possibly the most boring middle class neighborhood and parks across the street from a house that looks like the dozens of others surrounding it. He cuts the engine of their unmarked van and looks to Gavin and Jeremy making their last-minute preparations in the back. The entire vehicle smells like peanut butter and Gavin slaps Jeremy’s hand away from the bag of bacon he had fried up before leaving. “That’s not for you!” he hisses.
Jeremy pouts indignantly, but lets it be. They grab a pair of bolt cutters, while Gavin stuffs his pockets full of treats and clips various dog toys to his belt. A brightly colored rope dangles from his hips, and right beside it a squeaky chicken. He pauses for a minute, tennis ball in hand, and frowns thoughtfully, trying to figure out where to place it.
Ultimately, he sets it down, deciding that his skirt of toys is sufficient.
Jeremy pulls on a pair of gloves and grabs a leash dangling from a hook. They shoot Gavin an eager look, which he eagerly returns.
“You look like fucking idiots,” Michael says, because one: it’s true, and two: he apparently has a compulsive need to kill the mood if it’s stupid, like this one. Gavin and Jeremy just look at him, still smiling, mischief gleaming in their eyes. Michael rolls his eyes and waves his hand. “Go get the damn dog.”
The other two excitedly scramble out of the car and crouch-run their way across the street, like they’re on some sort of actual heist. Michael barely suppresses an eye roll. It’s not like the hazy moonlight or streetlamps are illuminating the street or anything. Idiots.
He watches them stealth their way to a chain-link fence. On the other side, Michael can make out what appears to be a ramshackle doghouse, and a tiny figure curled up just outside it. He can’t hear it, but he assumes Gavin whistles or does something to get the dog’s attention, because the figure’s head pops up and it pushes itself onto it’s legs.
Or at least it tries.
Jeremy is clipping away at the fence when Michael notices how the poor thing’s back paws are dragging uselessly along the ground. Her tail wags furiously as she crawls over to Gavin, but she isn’t moving very fast.
Oh. That’s why they’d been so adamant about doing this.
His knuckles turn white, and the steering wheel creaks under his grip. That familiar burn courses through his body, licking flames up and down his arms and legs. The vein in his jaw throbs, and he forces himself to take a deep breath. Going in and beating the owner senseless is tempting — “How does it feel, huh? How does it fucking feel? — but running in blindly, fists flying, would be reckless and stupid. And while he has his moments, tonight he’s the sensible one.
Or at least that’s what he tells himself. But when a light flicks on in the house while Jeremy is in the middle of unhooking the dog’s chain and latching their own, all of Michael’s self restraint leaves him. There’s a shadow moving throughout the house, and the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end. He pulls the baseball bat from the passenger footwell and tears out of the van.
Gavin exclaims loudly as Michael rips past.
“Get the dog outta here, I’ll cover you!” Michael yells, and his lifetime of hopping fences pays off as he effortlessly scales the wire structure. His feet land on the ground with a soft thump and gets into position on the other side of the sliding glass door. He chokes up on the bat, ready to swing.
Jeremy finally manages to slip the hook of their leash through the loop on the dog’s collar just as the door slides open. The man inside is screaming angrily, but Michael doesn’t hear what he’s saying. He’s more focused on how he’s going to make this dickbag scream for another reason.
The guy steps outside, not seeing Michael where he hides just behind him, and he reaches for something tucked in his waistband. The second Michael realizes it’s a gun, he pounces, striking the guy in the back of the knees and bringing the bat down on the guy’s back with a satisfying crack.
He fucking whales on the guy, letting all that righteous anger course through him. Each strike shakes his bones, and he’s pleasantly reminded why this is his primary weapon of choice. There’s something so deliciously personal about taking a guy apart with a big stick. He keeps swinging until he’s sure Gavin and Jeremy have pulled the poor pup to safety. The bastard is curled into the fetal position, and his gun, which Michael had kicked away, lay just out of reach.
The horn of the van blares — one of his lads letting him know they’re clear — and Michael brings the bat down for a final strike. It makes a wet crunch against the back of the guy’s head. He’s not one hundred percent sure whether the guy is unconscious or actually dead. He doesn’t particularly care. He’s got no love for people who beat their animals, and, frankly, he’s killed for less.
His arms burn, and as he wipes blood from his face, he realizes that the lights in the surrounding houses are flicking on. The sound of an approaching siren kicks him into gear. He scrambles over the fence — a feat more difficult now that his limbs feel gooey with exertion — and books it across the street.
The engine revs as Jeremy puts the key in the ignition. Sirens are growing closer, and tired civilians are emerging from their homes to see what the fuss is about. The doors to the back are wide open, and Gavin, gently cradling the dog, yells at him to “Hurry up!”
Michael flings himself into the back of the van, and Jeremy takes off like a bullet, tires squealing against the asphalt, leaving behind the scent of burned rubber.
They fly out of the neighborhood, and Jeremy takes a few random turns, shaking any potential pursuers off their trail. All the while, Gavin is cooing at the creature in his arms. “Who’s a good girl? Who’s a good Bella?” he asks. “Who doesn’t have to worry about that mean old man ever again? Yes, it’s you!”
He pets Bella until she calms down, mindful of her legs, which rest gingerly on the seat. Slowly, her eyes drift shut, and she falls asleep under his touch. He smiles softly, and Michael can’t help but do the same at the scene before him.
Then Gavin turns to look at him. “Thank you, Michael,” he murmurs, barely audible over the hum of the engine.
Michael shrugs. “Don’t understand why you didn’t tell me why you wanted to steal this guy’s dog in the first place.”
“Ah, well…” Gavin pauses for a moment, trying to figure out what he wants to say. “Lil J and I kind of figured you riding out your rage would be the best cover in case we got caught. And that’s something that only really happens in the moment. So we needed you going in blind.”
Michael stares blankly for a moment, blinking slowly, trying to understand the reasoning. “You didn’t tell me,” he says slowly, “because you wanted me to be pissed off enough to attack a guy in case he caught you.”
Gavin presses his lips together and nods. “Yeah.”
Michael scoffs and rolls his eyes. “You two are fucking ridiculous,” he says. Then his gaze travels towards the peacefully sleeping dog. “What are you going to do with her?”
Gavin shrugs. “Gonna get our medic to take a look at her and see what he can do. After that…I dunno, try to find a nice place for her to live. Fredo’s been saying he wants a dog, so maybe he’ll be willing to take care of her.”
“So you never planned on her living in the penthouse, did you?” Michael asks.
“Of course not, Michael boy,” Gavin answers easily. His eyes sparkle with humor. “We’re not gonna make her ride the elevator every time she needs to take a leak.”

Pilot (Part 2)
Tumblr media
Cordell Walker x daughter!Reader
word count: 1,554
warnings: dead parent, abandonment?, mentions of deportation
A.N. sorry I haven't been that active about updating this story. I had some school assignments to complete(and still do). this past week I just been very unmotivated to do anything. I'll try to post more! Thank u for your patience.
masterlist
“What are we doing out here again?” Bel asked me as we hopped over a fence that led to an open field.
“Just looking at the stars, I guess. My mom used to take me out here all the time, especially on a full moon.” I told her, sitting down on the grass
“Full moon, like tonight.” she realized.
“Yeah.” I pulled out my leather-bound sketchbook and markers. “She let me draw the starscape while she took some pictures on her camera. I've drawn every single full moon since I was ten, I've missed a couple since she passed. The first couple of months were difficult to get myself to come out here. She even made this sketchbook” I explained. Bel put a comforting hand on my shoulder. I was so lucky to have her, she is an amazing friend.
“She sounds amazing Y/N. I wish I could meet her.” She said and I just nodded. “Can I see your drawings?”
“Sure.” I handed her the book and she started to flip through the pages
“You're really good” she complimented
“Thanks.” I gave a small smile. I layed down on the grass and looked at the stars. It's been a little while and we’ve been talking, looking at the stars or I've been doodling the sky. We heard hard footsteps in the distance and looked over to see someone running in our direction. “What the hell? I breathed out and sat up. As the person got closer I recognized the person. It’s Ryan Marshall from school.
“Ryan?” Bel said when he was just about to pass us but he stopped when he heard his name.
“Hey guys!” he slurred. I rolled my eyes, great he’s drunk.
“Hey! You! Stop!” We heard from the same direction Ryan came from. Two police officers came running over and Ryan took off again. One police officer continued to chase ryan but the other stopped and looked at us.
“What are you ladies doing out here? Were y’all also at that party down the block.” he asked us pointing a flashlight at us. I put my hand out to block my eyes. Does he really gotta shine that thing directly in my face?
“No sir, we were just stargazing. We never stepped foot in that party. You can test us if you'd like.” I explained and Bel agreed with my statement.
“No, you guys don't seem drunk or anything. But you are trespassing.” he told us.
“Trespassing? I thought this was a public field.” I blurted.
“Last month this field was issued for game only during this season. You can only be on this field if you have a hunting license.” he explained “I’ll have to take you into the station for trespassing.”
“Can’t you let us off with a warning? We had no idea and you have no signs up!” I jabbed
“Sorry missy its protocol.” He read us our rights and asked us if we had any weapons and all the other police crap that's part of their ‘protocol’.
»»————- ★ ————-««
Currently we are at the police station waiting for our parents to pick us up. Bel told me about her parents and how they might get deported since she was brought in. I feel terrible, I has no idea they changed the field over for a stupid game season. Just another thing I messed up. Luckily Stan Morrison was able to drop our charges since I explained exactly what happened and he understood. Unfortunately, we were taking in so our parents must pick us up since we are minors. We were waiting for probably a good thirty minutes when I saw my dad round the corner. I’m shocked he actually showed up, that’s a new one. I do really want to jump up and hug him but something in me is just mad at him for leaving us so I can’t bring myself to. Also being picked up at a police station was not my ideal first meeting of my dad after his absence.
“And here he is to save the day” I say under my breath.
“Good to see you too.” He said and approached us.
“Dad, this is Bel. Can we take her home?” I asked him.
“No. minors have to be picked up by their parents.”
“Well i’m not just leaving her here.”
“Then you can stay in a cell here tonight.”
Bel’s parents enter the police station. Dad takes his hat off and approaches them.
“It’s good to meet ya’ll. I've been out of town for a while so I don't really know Y/N’s social life. We should spend some time together.” he says.
“Stop it.” I whisper. He can't be serious right now.
“...Seems like the girls got into some trouble tonight so maybe we could help each other out.” he explains. Bella’s parents don't say anything as another police officer calls them back.
“Epic first meeting.” Bel sighs.
“I’m sorry, this is so embarrassing.” I apologize for my dad’s actions.
“For who? Lets go.” Dad shot at me and I just rolled my eyes. I grabbed my sketchbook off the seat and gave Bel a quick hug before leaving the station with my dad.
»»————- ★ ————-««
The car ride home was an awkward one. Like what do I even say to him? ‘Nice to finally see you again after you abandoned us for almost a year’ I don't think that's the nicest thing to say. I felt sweet relief when I saw us pull up to my grandparents house. I took off my seat belt and opened the car door.
“Y/N,” dad warned. I stopped opening the door and started fidgeting with the edge of my sketchbook. “Want to tell me what the hell you were thinking?”
“I didn't know we were trespassing. There was no sign or anything to tell us pedestrians were not allowed on the field. Apparently they recently changed it or something, I don't know. Mom used to take me out to that field all the time. I didn't think anything of it.” I explained. He nodded in understanding.
“It's still dangerous. What if a hunter thought you were a deer and shot you? I don't like you out alone. I know you had Bel with you, but there's some bad people out there that can overpower you guys. I’d rather you be home for dinner with your family at night.” He told me.
“Oh like how you were home for dinner last night?” I challenged and he sighed. “Mom said you'd never be on a case too long.” I remarked.
“And I never meant to be.” dad said and I shook my head in disbelief. “This last case...it got complicated.” he explained.
“Complicated?” I scoffed. “A five minute phone call this summer, then nothing for three months! It’s bad enough we didn't have mom” I pointed out.
“We both gotta stop acting like she's going to come back.” he stated. I jumped out of the car and burst into tears. Uncle Liam was outside now and he tried to reach out to me but I ignored him. August was right in the living room when I entered the house.
“Y/N? What's wrong? What happened? Where’s dad” he asked me.
“Its nothing August. Just leave it alone.” I sniffed, trying my best to contain myself for my brother’s sake.
“Why were you at the police station? I thought you were just going to yours and mom’s spot?” he nagged on.
“I did. It's some kind of hunting ground now, you can’t go on it without a hunting license. You done with the twenty questions?” I snapped.
“Y/N, want to come have some leftovers?” my grandma asked me. Well she technically asked but she was actually telling me to get my ass over there.
“Sure Grams” I sighed and sat down by the kitchen island. She put down a plate of her famous pot roast and I dug in. While I ate she was cleaning up the kitchen.
“You’re not going to ask me what I did?” I inquired.
“No, because I know you’re a good, smart kid and you wouldn't do anything too damaging on purpose.” She offered me a kind smile. “Plus I know what tonight is with the full moon. I can put two and two together.” she laughed. Uncle Liam and dad walked in the house but I didn't hear them enter so I continued talking.
“Last month, they changed the field for ‘game hunting only’. I had no idea, so Bel and I got charged for trespassing. I can’t go out to that field anymore. Now I feel like another piece of mom is gone.” I confessed tears welling up in my eyes again.
“You can still go draw the stars, I know your mom would love for you to keep doing y'all's traditions. I'll even go out with you.” she offered.
“Thanks Grandma. I appreciate it, I really do, but it just wouldn't be the same.” I sighed.
“Not many things are going to be the same, Y/N.” she stated.
“I miss her so much.” I started sobbing. Grandma rounded the island and pulled me into a hug.
“I know you do sweetie.” she consoled, rubbing her hand in circles on my back, trying her best to comfort me.
A.N. sorry if you don't like to draw. Emily seemed like the type of parent that liked her kids to be creative, like August and photography. So I figured drawing could be what the reader and Emily did together.

Why My Dear Friend
Tumblr media
Warning: Remember, the imprints are all the same age as one another. NO PEDOPHILIA IS EVER USED IN MY STORIES. The wolves don't age until they give up their ability to shift. So essentially, Embry will be immortal since Y/n is immortal too.
BTW: I realized a while ago, Rachel was in college in Twilight, but she imprinted on Paul, who was 15. What the fuck Stephanie…. you know what…please enjoy.

Y/n POV
It wasn't long after that, Sam called Carlisle to meet at the treaty line. It didn't take a Neuroscientist to figure out why we're having the meeting. The look on everyone's faces and how it directed towards me made me worry even more.
"Should I know something before we head down there?" I asked tensely.
"Yes. There is a treaty in place between the wolves and us. They're our natural-born enemy. They protect the Reservation from our kind. They have the right to kill us if we pass the treaty line or any other vampire, for that matter. And if we slip up even once, it's a death sentence for us." Carlisle said. "It would be best that we keep calm and cool composure. Just explain everything, and hopefully, there won't be too much damage." I nod my head, and we head outside. There was a howl in the distance—a painful one.
Not long afterward, we come upon a clearing, and the wolves are already there. I notice the three wolves that were there the night Vanity and Leo kidnapped me. The big black wolf was in front of the other two in addition to five other ones. I recognize Jake, but I don't know who the rest are. Once we stop, I get a good look at them, and one of them starts backing away, ears flop downwards, and head lowers. Deflated, I assume. The black wolf snaps at him and turns back towards us, specifically, me.
"Good evening. I believe we all know why we're here." Carlisle starts.
"Sam wants to know what happened. And how did we find her." Edward says, looking at the black wolf. Everyone turns towards me, and I step up.
"Hey. Um, well, I guess three of you know since you were there that night. But essentially, I was kidnapped by two vampires. Eventually, and unfortunately, I was thrown over the cliff and into rough waters. According to Vanity—the girl vampire—I went into shock and drowned. But while underwater, before my heart could stop, she changed me. We made it to shore on First Beach, and she did CPR, then continue to try to change me—biting major arteries—then proceed to head upwards to Canada somehow. Obviously, the change was a success, but it was painful.
"From there, I was in Canada with Vanity. I have a good amount of control over my thirst. I honestly never really thought about animal blood, to be honest. I would only go after criminals, pedophiles, abusive people, and murderers—basically, those who are the scum of the earth. The best ones were sex-traffickers, although I didn't really eat them; I just slaughtered them and tipped off the FBI or police in the area about them. Sorry, off-topic. But I went to Italy, where Vanity met her mate, and I met up with Alice, Edward, and Bella. Then we flew back here, and now we're here." I said. It was quiet after I finished. The wolf, who looked like he had an emotional breakdown, slowly backed away and into the wooded area.
I looked at the other ones and felt a familiarity with them. Something about them reminded me of my friends on the Reservation. I think back to when Jake changed into the wolf and looked back at all of them in shock. I was even more surprised when my eyes couldn't leave a particular wolf. I was locked in with this one. I started to feel lightheaded and excited. I began to feel happy, and like I was on cloud 9. We both looked at each other until someone came from behind the bushes.
"Jared," I said. I didn't know if I was supposed to be surprised or not. We just stared at one another until one made the first move to look away or say something. He looked away and shook his head to the ground.
"Why did you come back?" he asked in a whisper.
"I wasn't going to. Or at least, I wasn't going to yet. But after running into Alice, Edward, and Bella, something just told me to follow them." I shrug my shoulders. He looked at me and narrowed his eyes.
"You say it like it's the most obvious thing in the world. You should've just stayed away. For good." He says with anger in his voice but in his eyes screamed pain.
"Something told me to come back to Forks, Jared. You know more than anyone that it's best to listen to your gut. In my case, something strong told me to. Plus, I thought you'd be happy to see me instead of five years down the line someone finds my body washed up on a beach or floating in the ocean somewhere missing a leg with my brain oozing out." I said with a little force in my voice.
"Gruesome." Emmitt says behind me, followed by an "Ouch Rosie" from a pop in the head. Jared starts pacing back and forth, trying to calm himself. He stops and shakes his head.
"I can't even look at you anymore, Y/n. Now that you're a leech!" he yells.
"A leech! Are you kidding me, Jared!? Did you think I chose this!?" I asked, now fuming. "I don't know if you were paying attention but didn't choose this life, Jared. It happened, and now I'm living it." I say, swinging my arms around.
"Yeah, well, I rather have to burry you than to have you like this!" he says. It's quiet, and everyone just looks at him.
"Yeah? Then I guess you should have done your job and fucking saved me. DO NOT blame me because YOU failed to SAVE me!" I smirk, "Technically, this is your fault. You dug your grave; now, you can sleep in it." Everyone looks at both of us. "Goodbye, Magenta," I said, taking one last look at the grey color wolf before heading back to the Cullen's place.
Jared's POV
I watch as my best friend runs away. Parts of me know that it wasn't her fault. I know that it's my fault for what happened to her. If I could go back in time to the beach, I wouldn't even bother going that day. Her parents would have probably made her leave the house anyway with their arguing, but at least she would've ended back at my place.
I start shaking and shift in front of everyone and run in the opposite direction. Away from the pack, blocking out the screams in my head. I have to get out. I have to leave. I think back to when she initially left for Texas. That was painful, but I knew there was social media and I knew that we could never lose contact with one another.
But when I thought she died. That was different. That was pain that I've never felt before. I'm not going to lie, I did kind of wonder if she was a vampire, and I wondered if I found out that she was, how would I react. But there's a difference between what if's and actuality. In my mind, I trained myself to be OK with it. But I wasn't expecting it to come true now that it is. Am I OK with it? Am I happy to know where and what happened to my sister? Yes. But do I like knowing that she's a fucking leech? FUCK no. But can I do anything about it? No. My emotions are all over the place; my DNA says kill her—including the Cullen's (them first, then her obviously)—but my heart says, she's my Blue. Regardless, she's my best friend.
Her words hit me like a wrecking ball. It didn't help that she also called me Magenta. Fuck! I look at the sky and watch as the rainfall gets harder and wonder what I should do. I lay there in the dirt and rain near the border of Canada and cry.
Embry's POV
Son's of bitches…I fucking imprinted…on Y/n.
She's a vampire.
A fucking vampire.
I imprinted on a vampire.
I imprinted on Y/n… who's a fucking VAMPIRE!
"This day just keeps getting better and better." -Leah
"So, what, we can't do shit now?" -Quil
"If we were able to swim in our wolf form, this would have been a lot easier." -Paul
"Let's head back. Edward, we'll discuss this later. I'll talk to the elders about this…. situation."-Sam. Edward nods his head, and the Cullen's leave. Sam turns to me, and I could do nothing but shake my head and head back to Emily and Sam's place.
Sam tells Emily and Kim what happened, we all can do nothing but comfort Kim. She knows how hard it must be for Jared to lose his best friend. She even told us before that when they were going to get married, Y/n would be his grooms-woman, and he'd be her brides-man. After Y/n's disappearance, Jared was extra, extra protective over Kim. Witnessing firsthand someone getting kidnapped in front of you can trigger something—vampire or not. Everyone then turned to me. I looked away and looked at the rain falling hard just to avoid any questions or eye-contact. Paul broke the silence.
"So, what are you going to do?" he asked, directed towards me. I shrugged my shoulders and continued to avoid their gazes. I'm living a dream, no, fantasy here. The universe grants me one of the few things that I've ever wanted and one of the first things I've wanted since shifting.
Y/n
She's my imprint, the one and only, the reason for my existence. And she's a fucking vampire. What do you do in a situation like this? I can't leave her. Having her away from me will kill me. But after what happened between her and Jared…It really doesn't matter, to be honest. She'd be in my life one way or another. So many options and possibilities available, yet it comes down to one.
Fuck it.
Without a word, I go outside and shift. I head towards the Cullen's to talk to Y/n. Should I wait until everything calms down? Yes. But can I wait until everything calms down? No. As I get closer, I yell to Edward what my intentions are and for him to possibly, let me around Y/n to talk to her. As I come upon the house, I can see her outside. Arms crossed with a deflated look on her face.
"I’m going to fucking kill Jared.” I think to myself. I stop just beyond the tree line and change into some shorts. As I jog up to the porch, Y/n hands me a towel to dry off. Once I get the majority of the water off, we just look at each other. I can see the pain in her eyes and can almost feel every ounce of grief oozing off her. Without even thinking about it, I pull her to me and hug her. She wraps her arms around me and hides her face in my neck. I know if she could cry, she’d be bawling. Hurtful words were passed around—things that had no actual meaning to them was said. Remorse and fault words shared between Jared and Y/n was painful to all of us.
We knew what Jared said was kind of right. He would want her in the ground instead of walking around dead; however, we know that it would be a double-edged sword in either situation. It was at this moment that I answered the question I had earlier. And no, I don’t give a flying fuck what Y/n is. I have always loved her, and in this very second, she needs me just like I would need her if I was in her shoes. Vampire or not, I love her.
Y/n POV
A few days had passed since Jared allowed anyone, besides Kim and his family, to contact him. Seeing me really took a toll on him. I still haven’t talked to him, and he hasn’t said anything back. I feel bad for the words that came out of my mouth, but Embry lets me know that my words were justified by his words said to me.
Finding out that Embry was my mate was both exciting and crazy. I’ve always had feelings for him and was still unsure if he felt the same. Well, now I know he felt the same. We talked about it and tried to see how we were going about this. And, much to Rosalie’s dismay, Embry would be around a lot. Especially since I am adapting to my new diet. A week later, Embry and I are outside relaxing in the back yard when my phone rings from upstairs. Alice, being the weird sister I’ve grown to love, tosses it over the balcony. I look at the caller, and I freeze.
“It’s Jared…” I look up at Embry, and he looks at me. Allowing me to decide. I just watch it until it stops ringing, and not long after, the voicemail notification pops up. I listen to it, and it’s Kim.
“Hey, Y/n. I know this is random, and I don’t fault you if you didn’t want to do this, but could you meet with Jared at the treaty line. I know things were tense, and again, I understand if you don’t want to do this, but if you do…please come to the treaty line. Bring Embry too! OK, well,…bye.” I look up at Embry with questionable eyes. He looks back at me and smiles,
“Whatever you choose, love, I am right here with you.” He says, leaning in kissing my forehead. I look down at my phone and zone in on myself.
“Go…you have to.” the internal voice said. I nod and smile at Embry and get up. He follows, and I tell him that I want to go. He kisses me, and I back away so he can shift. Once he’s done so, we head out. On the way there, I decided to ride Embry’s back. It’s fun, he doesn’t mind, and it helps me ease my nerves. I hide my head in his fur and try to relax into him. I don’t want this to end badly, and I know that he would be there to protect me and defuse the situation if things go south. Embry notifies me that we’re close, and I focus ahead. When we come to the clearing, Jared is there with Jake and Quil in human form. Embry shifts back, and Jared and I just face each other, knowing that there is no danger.
It's quiet as the child-like brother of mine is over an invisible line, almost like in two different universes coming together as one in a matter of a footstep. It doesn’t take long for this to end because, in the future, Jared and I are children at heart. He blinked,
“HA! I WIN!” I say, smiling. He starts laughing.
“Man! That’s only because you don’t need to blink. So, it doesn’t count!” I shake my head and hold out my hand.
“Nope. Pay up! You know the drill.” He rolls his eyes and hands over five dollars. “Thank you, kind sir,” I say, smiling.
“Yeah, yeah. I got you next time. Arm wrestling Y/n/n.” He puts his hand out to shake.
“You’re on, J.” I shake his. And we pull each other in for a quick hug. “I’m sorry. I know you tried to save me from them without trying to hurt me in any way. I don’t fault you. I also understand why you had to leave the group. It sucked, but I understand now.” I say, pulling back.
“I’m sorry for saying that shit to you. It just caught me off guard. When Jake said you were back, I was ecstatic. But then he said you were a vampire, and I didn’t know what to think. I didn’t believe it until I saw it. And seeing it put me in a state of shock. Then hearing how it all happened and what you’ve been through...it frightened me. And if I’m honest, I’d rather have you as a mosquito than not at all.” He says, looking down, but then gets a mischievous look in his eyes.
“But think of all the shit we can pull now! Without getting hurt!” my eyes go wide in excitement, and we start laughing.
“We’re fucked, aren’t we?” Embry asked.
“No, you and Kim are fucked. We’re just bystanders.” Quil says.
“No, we’re safe; you’re going to get the short end of the stick as their test subjects,” Embry says back with a smile. We look at Quil and Jake with a grin.
“Ah, fuck. But wait! Y/n can’t come over to the Reservation!” Jake says as if that mattered.
“Yes, but I, the amazing imprint that I am, can. Just give me instructions, and I will be able to fulfill the task at hand with a video recording the whole thing.” Embry says, smiling. I go up to him and kiss his cheek.

Vamps in Pamps
it was a nice sunny day as Edward drove the jeep out to his 'father's house, though while the weather was nice and Bella seemed happy, Edward was less so due to the other person sitting the backseat of the jeep, who whenever he made eye contract, grinned like a Cheshire cat despite being a werewolf.
"So Edward, hurt stories about your daddy." Jacob said, making Edward despite being a vampire blush.
"I'm sure you have mutt. just mind your touage. he's stronger then me and doesn't handle fools as well." Edward snipped back.
While Edward could get along with and hang out with Jacob, He still didn't like the wolf but put up a farce for Bella's sake who insisted that they get along.
"Will any of the others be there today?" Jacob asked.
"No, mommy took them out for a little trip." Edward said, almost right away wishing he had called her by her name but the damage was done and now Bella and Jacob were chuckling and smirking.
"Mommy huh?" Jacob asked, Grinning ear to ear.
"Heh.. Jacob.. be nice.He is the first son~" Bella said and winked, though reached over and squeezed Edwards hand on the gear shift.
"Such a big boy~" Jacob said and winked into the rear view mirror.
'this is going to be a LONG visit.' Edward thought as he pulled into the driveway.
Carlilse was waiting in the driveway for them as they pulled up and as the they all got out of the car Carlilse was suddenly there, grabbing Edwards cheeks and tsking.
"have you been fully eating or are you just snacking, again?" Edward's 'father' asked, voicing his disapproval.
"Uh.. What do you mean by snacks?" Bella asked, a vampire herself now. "I thought we had to have a-"
"We Edward sadly Bella, is famous for trying to replace a good full on meal with just snacking on rat or chipmunk or squirrel blood." Carlilse said, then smirked. "though he cut back on the chipmunk blood when he grew to be a fan o-"
"DAD!"
"the chipmunks in the 80's."
"Wait, what?" Jacob asked.
"Oh my god shut up!" Edward growled.
"Simon was his favorite, I preferred Alvin, though only because he wanted to watch it all the time with me." Carlilse said.
Edward huffed and whined and stormed off into the house, as Carlilse stayed with Jacob and Bella.
"you'll have to forgive him. he's sensitive on his little guy side." The proud daddy said.
"heh, I see. soo..you watched the show with him..did he ever sing along?" Jacob asked, and got a playful elbow to his gut from Bella.
"...You didn't hear it from me, but yes."
In the house Edward was huffing, he should of known this was a mistake considering recent events but Bella had been begging to come up for awhile and Jacob too. Still the teenaged vampire was huffing lots as they came in.
Jacob was whistling the chipmunks theme and Bella was chuckling which didn't help Edwards attuide at the least bit.
"Look here scooby doo. unless you wanna throw down knock it off!" Edward growled.
"Heh, how did you know I loved that show? scooby dooodoo!" Jacob mimicked and then winked.
"...your a scrappy doo at best." Edward growled and went to storm off.
"So you DID watch that one too~ how many cartoons does widdle Edward li-" Jacob started but Carlilse's fingers were on his lips.
"Edward, don't storm off. I thought they knew and you know how cute I thought you were." Carlilse said and letting go of Jacob, was by Edward and hugging him.
Edward huffed and squirmed, but gave in even as Bella and Jacob smirked.
"You'll have to teach me how to calm him down that quick, he gets so huffy sometimes." Bella teased.
"Oh? It's not that hard,m you just have to give him the right hugs, I got LOTS of practice with it calming him down when he'd get such bad di-" Carlilse started but Edward was slapping a hand over his fathers mouth.
"Shut uppppppp!" Edward hissed.
"Ok I'm sorry, where you about to say diaper?" Jacob asked, looking tickled pink.
Bella meanwhile was wrinkling her nose as the mental image of Edward in a massive cloth diaper with a huge safety pin though it flashed into her mind.
"No he wasn't! shut your damn mutt mouth and go wait in the car wh-" Edward started but then Esme was there, smiling brightly and holding a photo album.
"Oh, Are we talking about Edward's baby phase? That was sooo cute!" the proud father gushed.
"No we're n-" Edward started but now it was Jacob who cut him off.
"Yes. yes we were. Do you have pictures?" Jacob asked.
the only reason he wasn't being shushed or attacked was Carlilse could tell Edward was going to do something he'd regret and was holding the squirming teen vamp tight now.
"Edward settle down or you can go on time out young man!"
"Ok, somebody explain." Bella said as her mother in law ushered them all over to the couch to sit down.
"Well Edward was our first vampire, and he had a hard time adjusting to vampire life so we decided to give him some time to adjust with some age regression treatment. he fought us at first but soon he was running around happy in his nappies." She coo'ed opening the book up and showing off picture after picture of Edward in terry cloth diapers and plastic pants and tops, the first dozen or so had him growling and snarling, thick mittens on his hands to keep him from removing his diapers but then the fight went out of Edward and soon he was smiling brightly and doing poses.
"The hardest part was getting him to stop wearing after awhile, and we honestly humored him longer then we should of but hearing him cry for his nappies was heart breaking, plus he'd just go ahead and soil himself anyways." Esme giggled and d'aww, coming across a picture of Edward in a tug of war with Carlilse over a diaper.
"That was when we were trying to give the diaper treatment to his little brother, but Edward kept stealing the diapers. in the end we had to threaten him with a dress if he wanted his diapers so bad." Carlilse said.
"D-Did he take the deal?" Bella asked, eye wide in disbelief.
"NO I DIDN'T!!" Edward shouted and Carlilse responded with swift swat to his bottom.
"Young Man, I raised you better then to lie to your wife like that!" he scolded even as Edward whined and whimpered. "What happens to little fibbers in this house?"
"D-Daddy no!" Edward whined and whimpered, but it was for not as he was lead away by the ear, his buns having a date with a hairbrush and his mouth having one with a bar of soap.
As he left the room he heard Bella gasp of disbelief and Jacob's howls of laughter, and just before he was out of hearing range, Jacob called out.
"Pink is DEFIANTLY your color fang boy!"
"Dad..dad come on, you don't have to do this! You should be getting mom to stop! can't you see Bella is getting freaked out?" Edward whined as Carlilse got him into the bathroom and and pointed at a corner where a small red circle was with one hand as he turned on the water and started to get a bar of soap all foamy.
I'm more shocked you never told her about this side of you Edward, Honesty about kinks are important for a healthy marriage." Carlilse lectured and then brought the soap over.
"L-Look I tried but I found out she's super freaked out about little's ok..I figured if I didn't say anything it would be all good..I never expected you and mom to go all dotting parents!"
"See now thats where you were being super silly. If I didn't love you and wanna let you be a little guy from time to time would I of kept all your old baby stuff in the basement?" Carlilse asked then motioned for Edward to open his which the sulking vampire did.
"Honestly with all of you kids moving out me and your mother have been getting a little lonely.. So I was gonna offer to babysit you some time. " Carlilse added as he popped the soap into the sulking vamp's mouth, then tugged down the back of Edwards pants and passed for a send, chuckling softly.
"Mmmfh!?" Edward whined around the soap, bubbles forming and trailing down his chin.
"I see you're still a lousy wiper." Carlilse teased then yanked the crap stained tightie whites up and took the hair brush to Edward's poor buns.
"So.. Edward's stopped doing all of this baby stuff now though right?" Bella asked, feeling like she was in a nightmare.
the love of her life was just a big fucking baby, she was suddenly putting it all together in her head as she had flashbacks of him getting too into being teased with baby talk from her, all the cuddling.. and just how many of his 'accidents' he'd been having lately were actual accidents?!
"He mostly stopped after you and him started to date dear. Though he's come back for some treatment. Usually when you're being a little bit of a whore and getting fucked by the mutt." Esme said all matter of factually, making Bella and Jacob jaw drop.
"I'm not stupid and have almost caught you a few time...But I'm sure Edward doesn't know." she went as if she hadn't just dropped that bombshell.
"I uh.. I just.. see.. He just. I.." Bella stammered.
"Well put. you know, for someone who's getting all high and mighty about Edward being just a big baby and not telling you, Fucking around with a were wolf isn't model behavior. While Carlilse is giving Edward a spanking and a mouth washing I think you and I need to have a talk about what I expect from you and doggie here unless you wanna see what a centuries old vampire is capable of when you hurt her little man."
Bella gulped and looked to Jacob for help, while he found something rather interesting on the floor.
Bun's red and mouth tasting like soap, a tear stained cheeks Edward made his way into the living room, in just his undies and rubbing his butt as he kept glancing over his shoulder to give his dad a sour look.
"Edward has something he'd like to say to everyone, don't you Edward? Carlilse said and gave his son a thumbs up.
"A-Actually Uh..Yeah, I have something to say first." Bella said, getting up and trying not to notice that despite the bratty toddler attuide Edward was giving off, the vamp was tenting his undies.
"Edward I can't be with someone who'd rather crap himself in diapers and suck on his toes then have some beers and make love to me. I'm leaving you for Jacob, and you can just stay here and baby out." She said, then practically ran out the door, Jacob looking at Edward with a half smile.
"Look at it this way little guy, you get diapers and I get the girl. we both win." Jacob said then took off after Bella.
Edward could only stare on in shock as Bella apparently was SO eager to get out there she had started the jeep and Jacob was forced to jump in the back seat.
"W-wait..what!?" He asked, not knowing of course he'd been sent up to go back to babyhood.
that Bella's hasty retreat was because Esme had made it clear once her and Edward were broken up the skank would have 5 minutes to get off her property.
Sure, setting up Edward to be dumped like this was a little mean, but as the big baby started to brawl and cry and load the back of his undies, Mommy and daddy just smiled and gave him lots of hugs.
The end

If You Love Someone, Let Them Go: Part 2
Tumblr media
Summary: Since starting with SVU, Sonny hadn’t kept much terribly close to the chest. The squad knew about his family, growing up on Staten Island, the classes at Fordam. What was hidden was why he didn’t date. Sonny Carisi was also separated from his childhood sweetheart, a separation neither ever took to divorce. They had the same haunts. They’d grown up neighbors. Their paths crossed every few months, and divorce talks would turn into reminiscing would turn into a night spent together, sometimes sex sometimes just talking until the early morning. It always ended with one of them waking up alone however. How will that change when the squad finds out?
Pairings: Sonny Carisi x Original Character,
A/N: Ayyy, I’ll probably be posting these as I write them because I kind of like them.
Part 1
November 2013
When Victoria stepped into the bookstore she’d always frequented when she and Sonny first moved into the city, she didn’t expect to see him standing in the back. It felt wrong to see him out and about; being caught off guard was a reminder she didn’t know his schedule anymore. All she did know was that it was late enough he’d just left a night class, given he was in the city. She hadn’t seen him since he left the apartment the morning she left. Had he called? Once that she answered. She told him she felt like he didn’t want her there, and he told her that was stupid, of course he did. When she hung up, she didn’t hear anything else. Bella told her he didn’t seem to get it, discrediting the suggestions his sister knew were the problems. The youngest sister was the closest with Victoria, and she wasn’t willing to give up her confidant with Tommy not out yet. That meant Bella went between her brother and his wife, trying to get them to fix it. Sonny’s birthday had been weird enough without her; she wasn’t ready for the holidays.
“Victoria,” he exhaled when he saw her. Victoria didn’t like seeing that it looked like he wasn’t doing that well. When he wasn’t in front of her, she could pretend he was happy and healthy in their apartment on Staten Island. He certainly hadn’t slept much and was lurking the aisles this close to closing in the city. His hair was shaggier, his face had a few days worth of stubble, and his eyes had dark circles. It had only been three months, and it felt like any scabbing of the emotional wound had just been torn off in one fell swoop. Something had made him pull away, she’d known. He needed to tell her why, and she hated knowing leaving didn’t help. She hadn’t really expected it to, but she thought it might prompt him to talk to her. In all the time they’d known each other, they had been able to intuitively figure out what was wrong, watch the other and piece things together. Because of that, neither of them knew what to do when the other one couldn’t just figure it out.
“Dominick,” she nodded, shifting awkwardly. Both of them could see the glint of the other’s ring, relaxing ever so slightly not to be the only one wearing it.
“We oughta talk, huh?”
“Straight into it?”
“I don’t know what else to say to you. Which is weird.”
“Yeah. We could go to the park?”
“Okay. Do you want to get coffee or anything on the way?”
“Yeah,” she nodded, teeth pulling at the skin on her lips. She followed him to the street. They fell into step together easily, but the silence was heavy. There was too much that needed to be said, and neither of them knew how to say it.
“Starbucks or bodega?”
“Starbucks. I need hot, but not coffee.” He nodded, pulling the door open. Before she could say anything, he ordered her usual non-caffeinated order with his. When Victoria tried to protest, he shook his head, paying and going ahead to wait for her hot chocolate with his tea in hand. Saddling up to his side, she offered a quiet “Thanks.”
He nodded, watching her as she grabbed her drink. She didn’t look different than the last time he saw her, but it suddenly struck him that she didn’t look well. What upset him about that was the realization she’d looked like this, a look he knew meant she was hurting, for a while before she left. Her hair was in a haphazard braid, she didn’t have the make up she normally wore to work, she hadn’t bothered to take the apron off for her walk home. He led her to the nearby park, and they again walked in silence. It was foreign to him to be so close to  her and not know what to say. They’d been married seven years, and he’d known her since he was five. He’d known her for twenty-two of his twenty-seven years, and now he was just staring at her. When he found an empty bench, he sat, and she settled beside him. It was hard to see her again, but he was grateful when she still sat close enough her arm brushed his. They both watched the empty patch of grass on the other side of the pathway, neither able to look at the other.
“Why?” he finally asked, and she winced at how small his voice sounded. When she was there, she knew something was wrong, but she hadn’t heard him sound so defeated before.
“I didn’t feel like you wanted me there.”
“That’s bullshit, Victoria.”
“When was the last time we did something together before you left? And I mean not just breakfast and dinner or rushed sex when you got home late.”
“Probably only like a month.”
“Four months. Easter with your family. I kept asking for dates or a movie night- anything- but you’d cancel or just never follow through.”
“Work was just busy. And then with classes I needed to take OT.”
“So over the course of four months and maxing out on OT, you couldn’t miss one evening? You missed my birthday. You missed celebrating the bakery. Something was bothering you and you wouldn’t tell me. You stopped telling me you loved me, Sonny.”
“No I didn’t.”
“Yeah. In May.”
“You were putting shit on a calendar?” he asked, and she could feel him bristling. He was getting frustrated, and she was fighting tears. She didn’t know how tears would impact this conversation. Could they be rational? Would he feel bad or angry? Beside her, realization was hitting Sonny that she was right. He wasn’t keeping work from her in a healthy way, and he’d fucked up. Royally.
“No, but you start to notice.”
“How long did you feel like I didn’t care?” he asked, and he was shifting from angry to hurt. She could see his neck tightening, his hands running over his thighs as he processed what he was hearing. Bella had already told him all of it, but he’d assumed she was overanalyzing. Sticking her nose in where she didn’t need to be. Instead, she’d realized what he couldn’t.
“Since my birthday. So almost a year now.”
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I never saw you, Dominick. That didn’t feel like a before work or on the phone conversation. Plus, it felt so whiny. Having you realize you missed my birthday should’ve been enough. I figured Gina, Teresa, and Bella would be giving you enough hell. And then I left thinking you’d listen to that. And you called and I tried to tell you and you called it stupid. What was I supposed to do from there?”
“It is stupid. I always want you in our home. You’re my wife, Victoria.”
“You weren’t showing it, Dom.”
“Apparently.” He watched her, hating the tears that were slipping out of the corners of her eyes. She looked tired. More than that. She looked defeated. Without thinking, he cupped her cheek, thumb brushing her tears away. His heart fluttered gently when she closed her eyes and leaned into his touch, but it also struck him suddenly how long it had been since these casual moments of affection. She was right. Easter was probably the last time, and that made Sonny want to march right off the nearest pier. Sure, there were things he needed to share with her, but did he have to stop playing with her fingers or coming home for dinner?
“I do love you,” she whispered. “I’m not stupid. I know something else was wrong. I couldn’t figure out what, though. And you won’t tell me. Dom, just because I figure most things out on my own, doesn’t mean I can figure them all.”
“Nothing was wrong,” he lied, and he knew she could tell he was lying, just like she’d known when they drove to the cabin upstate for his birthday a year ago. Just like last year, she didn’t press him on it, but this time he could see it was out of resignation instead of kindness. He hated that more, he thought, because she was accepting that he wasn’t going to tell her what could fix their relationship. Instead of opening up, he pressed a gentle kiss to her temple, thankful when she clung to his side.
“I love you,” she repeated, voice desperate as her hands fisted his sweatshirt.
“I love you too, Tor. I always will.”
That night found him in her bed after they’d stayed in the park later than they should’ve. It was already dark when they arrived. She fell asleep easily, clad in only his undershirt, but Sonny found himself staring at the ceiling as his thoughts raced. He never had to try with her, and apparently that had stopped working, and he wasn’t even paying enough attention to notice. It wasn’t fair to her. He’d done too much damage, and he wasn’t sure what to do about it. He wasn’t even aware of how badly he’d messed up. There was more he hadn’t gone into with her.
He’d been on homicide the last year. No one knew when the change happened, and the cases they caught stuck with him because it seemed most of them were women. What got to him was the way they’d been cleaned up, dressed, and carefully placed. The moment he saw them, he knew they were looking for a boyfriend or husband. Their faces haunted him more than anything else. They’d accepted what was coming. There was probably a history there. Whenever he found the partners, there would be 911 calls, and neighbors who weren’t even surprised. It was why he’d started applying to work with special victims.
It would’ve made sense to talk to Victoria about how he was feeling, but she was so good and so removed from the darkest parts of people he saw on the job. He wanted to keep it from her, not give her that burden. There was also a part of him that thought he’d be tainting her when he told her. Maybe he wouldn’t give her the details, but she’d start waking up in the night like he had been. As time marched on, he’d figured out how to start managing the feelings, but he wasn’t sure if he was managing the feeling or just not exposed to it. It was so easy to lie and say nothing was wrong because then he didn’t even have to consider bringing the darkness he saw into her world. It was probably selfish, but it was also something he felt like he couldn’t control. Would she think he was weaker? Would she be haunted just by the stories? Would she be afraid whenever she saw couples bicker?
Instead of telling her that, he slid out of bed, dressed, and left before he had to tell her about that part. He left a note by the coffee maker.
You deserve better, Tor. I’ll love you always. -Sonny
When she woke up, Victoria knew he was gone. Even when things weren’t perfect, she’d always wake up with his arm slung over her or his face buried in the crook of her neck if he hadn’t left yet. Something told her if he planned to call, he’d have said goodbye before leaving for work. She also couldn’t smell cooking or coffee, so he wasn’t in the kitchen. When she brewed coffee, she found his note and felt stupid for having thought he may stay. She got her phone off the nightstand, scrubbing her eyes.
I’ll love you always too, Sonny. Do we stay separated? Or do you want a divorce?
He was at the precinct, taking the lull in activity as an opportunity to read for class. That’s what he was telling himself at least as he read the same sentence again and again. When he saw her text, his heart beat faster. Some part of him had expected to get served in the next week or so since he’d left. Instead, he got this text in mere hours. All he knew was he wanted her to stay his wife. Once there were papers, he had to accept what he’d ruined.
I don’t want a divorce.
Me either.
Okay, so just a separation?
Not like a legal one. I can pay my part on the health insurance. And you saw I have a place. So we just pay our own bills.
Don’t worry about the insurance. Talk later?
Sure, Dom
She wasn’t surprised when they didn’t talk. Instead, she continued like she had been, not taking her wedding ring off but starting her own life and coming home to an apartment void of Sonny. It would be the first holiday she could remember that she wasn’t at the Carisi’s house, and she was dreading going to Rachel’s for Thanksgiving more than she had been. She’d ask questions that Victoria didn’t have the answer to, and the answers she did have were more convoluted now.

So, have you ever done an AU where the Animorphs were in the Twilight universe? Or where the Twilight characters had to deal with the Yeerks?
All right, I don’t think there’s a proper meta anywhere in here, so some random thoughts:
Presumably, Tobias can see the glitter-skin even in low lighting.  He would take one look at his first vampire and go “NOPE” in spite of the cloudy day and/or interior lighting.  Given the descriptions of what vampires look like to other vampires, it’d be straight-up body horror to witness from Tobias’s point of view.
Rachel would IMMEDIATELY morph grizzly and break off like four teeth trying to bite one or more of Edward’s limbs off.  When in doubt, try killing the new species first and asking questions later.
Edward would be quite concerned about these children.  Their thoughts are all... concerning.  He’s extremely concerned.  Both for them personally, and for the enemies they annihilate.  Just, all around, concerning.
Rachel [to Cassie, privately]: I’m gonna kick this pale guy’s ASS just as soon as I figure out what his weaknesses are.  Think going for the eyes will help?
Edward [out loud]: No, I don’t think it will.  You’re unlikely to be able to damage our skin.
Rachel: Did I just thought-speak that to everyone?  Am I having a Deadpool moment here?
 Cassie: I don’t think so?  I think this guy’s, like, a leeran.
 Edward: I’m not a leeran, I’m a vampire.
Marco: Okay, look, dude.  You can just say ‘alien,’ you don’t have to dick us around by pretending —
Edward: *licks some of Rachel’s blood off his hand so that his eyes change color*
 Marco: — holy fucknuggets he’s a vampire.
Obviously, this confrontation would end in Rachel and Emmett happily passing an entire afternoon during which Rachel uses every morph in her repertoire (and possibly goes out to get more) to attempt to inflict damage on Emmett.  They both think that this whole thing is hilarious, even if Jake finds it exasperating.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the border line:
Ax: You are correct.  Vampires do smell disgusting.  No more than humans, but off-putting in an entirely different way.
Jacob: Nah, humans just smell like werewolves that are, I don’t know, missing something.  Vampires have a whole other category of weird funk.
Bella: I’m standing right here, you know.
Jacob: If you didn’t want to smell weird, you should’ve stayed a human.
Bella: Humanity is completely overrated.  I’m happy to have a weird smell — and to rip the throats out of deer for the rest of eternity for that matter — if it gets me away from that crap.
 Tobias: You said it, sister.
Tobias would probably be the first person to try morphing a werewolf — he’s usually the first one willing to morph any new type of alien.  No one can explain why he can morph an identical copy of human-looking Seth if he acquires human-looking Seth, and can morph a copy of wolf-looking Seth if he acquires wolf-looking Seth, but cannot go from one shape to the other.
Everyone looks at Cassie to see if she has an explanation.  Cassie shrugs, and looks at Ax.  Ax shrugs as well, and looks at Carlisle.
Carlisle asks if he can have a week to read everything ever written about morphing technology, and to analyze tissue samples from everyone involved.  He promises to get back to them on the issue, and wanders off.
When Rachel runs out of morphs to try to use on Emmett, she next morphs a cat while Bella stands there with a constipated expression on her face attempting to stop Rachel from morphing into a cat.  It doesn’t work, in the sense that Rachel’s a cat after 30 seconds in spite of Bella’s best efforts.  It does work, in that Emmett laughs so hard over watching this all go down that he really does risk injuring himself.
Esme is very concerned that all six lost Californians are currently wandering around Washington barefoot in the 45°F weather.  Her light suggestion that they loan the kids a couple of the extra pairs of shoes they already have lying around to help the werewolves spirals completely out of control around the time word of it reaches Alice.
The Animorphs wander into Forks as birds.  They leave in a brand-new SUV whose trunk and backseat are filled to the brim with so many articles of clothing that Rachel’s pretty sure she’s going to have to install a new closet in her house when she gets home.
The SUV is a gift from Rosalie, who insists that it’s the least the Cullens can do after Rachel spent an entire afternoon keeping Emmett entertained.  Also because Rosalie might be ever-so-slightly trying to get rid of the Animorphs before Alice and Esme succeed in adopting them forever.
Rosalie’s dislike is nothing personal.  It’s just that none of the Animorphs like Jasper (his power is a little too close to mind-control for any of their tastes) and Jasper, being Jasper, obviously knows that none of the Animorphs like Jasper.  Anyway, Rosalie knows that Jasper knows, and that Jasper’s determination not to take it personally is not really working.  Hence the car, and the ever-so-gentle suggestion that they all hit the road.

chapter 5
You wake up the next day with nothing but regret—and a hangover from hell.
The good part of your morning is spent hunched over the toilet in your clothes from the night before. Your head feels much too heavy for your body, and you try to clear the fog to figure out how the hell you ended up back home—but you can barely even make a coherent thought. Thankfully, the three of you managed to get today off work as if by a stroke of luck, and so you don’t have to try to suffer your way through a work day in such a horrible state. Once you’re sure you’ve emptied out at least half of your guts and managed to pay for your dumb decisions the night before, you finally stand up and make a bolder attempt to get things straight. You hop in the shower, hoping the water will also wash your mind clean, but only get part of the way there by the time you’re slipping into your most comfortable clothes.
It’s when you’re making your light breakfast of toast that it starts coming back to you. You’re sipping gingerly at the water in your glass when you remember the same glass sitting on your bedside table this morning. You have no idea how it got there, or who could’ve put it there, but you assume it was by whoever managed to get you home. The last thing you can remember is dancing with Connie, and even that’s a little fuzzy. But the rest isn’t. You wish it was, because all your mind decides to remind you of is the way Javier was dancing with that stranger.
She’s probably in his bed right now, you think, scoffing to yourself as you take another sip of water. You try not to empty your stomach once again at the utter thought of it.
The sound of your toast popping up scares you out of your thoughts, causing you to jump a bit as you turn around. You chuckle at yourself and shake your head as you lightly butter it and start to chew on it, not necessarily wanting to do so but also knowing you need to get something in your stomach. It’s starting to drive you more and more insane that you don’t know how you got home. You assume it was Connie with the assistance of Steve, since Javier was too wrapped up in his conquest of the night, but you agonize yourself at the thought of what you could’ve said along the way. You never get drunk—it messes with your ability to control yourself and the situations you’re put in—so you’re fearful you let something risky slip while you were blacked out.
Knowing you can’t wait any longer for confirmation, you finish your toast quickly and reach for your pair of sunglasses, using them to try to ease your headache as you leave your apartment. You choose to ignore the fact that you’re solely in a pair of athletic shorts and an oversized college t-shirt as you make your way up the stairs, knocking at Steve and Connie’s door before you can convince yourself to leave them alone.
Connie’s thankfully the one who answers, her eyes widening as she sees you. “You’re alive!” she exclaims jokingly, causing you to laugh lightly. “But I can tell it’s a miracle.”
“Yeah, you can say that again,” you mutter, thanking her as she lets you into the apartment. You look around, furrowing your brow when you don’t see your partner. “Is Steve here?”
“No, he’s runnin’ errands with Olivia right now,” Connie informs you. “He was beggin’ to get out of the apartment for somethin’ other than work.” You nod understandingly, sitting at the counter as Connie raises an eyebrow. “Did you need him?”
“Oh, no, not really,” you assure her. You clear your throat, swallowing your pride as you accept the glass of water she’s poured for you. “I just, well, I need someone to fill me in.”
Connie tilts her head at you. “Fill you in?”
You bite your lip, running one hand over your neck in your nervous manner as your other hand grips the glass of water. “I… don’t remember anything after we danced.”
Connie’s gaze flashes with understanding. “Oh, I see.” She giggles to herself, taking a sip of her coffee as she gives you an impressed expression. “You surprised me with that, I can’t lie. I didn’t take you for the type.”
You exhale deeply as you release your neck and the glass, dipping your fingers under your sunglasses as you run your hands over your face. “I’m not. Last night was a rare occasion.” You reopen your eyes to see Connie’s expression morph into something more of sympathy.
“Already feelin’ the toll of work?”
You scoff. “That’s one way to put it.” You pause, studying Connie from behind your sunglasses for a quick moment as you ponder going on. She’s already become quite the confidante for you during your first week, and you know she doesn’t have anyone else to tell about your troubles—aside from Steve. But you feel that if you make it obvious you don’t want him to know, she won’t tell. So, with a deep breath, you decide to push forward. “It was because of my partner.”
Connie’s brow furrows. “I’m gonna assume you don’t mean my husband.”
“That’s a correct assumption.”
“So, Javi, then?” When you nod, Connie’s gaze flashes with remembrance—and a look of panic that you don’t necessarily like. The latter reaction, however, disappears quickly, and you choose to ignore it as she goes on. “Oh, yeah, I saw him, too. But that’s not out of the ordinary. Must’ve been weird for you, though.”
You shake your head, taking a sip of your water as you prepare yourself to fill her in. “Connie, it wasn’t just ‘weird.’ It was… well, heartbreaking.” When Connie gives you a look of confusion, you continue elaborating. “There’s a part of my and Javi’s story that you haven’t heard yet. But, please, don’t tell anyone.”
Connie lifts her hands in mock surrender. “I’ve got no one to tell but a man who probably won’t care to hear it, girl. Go for it.”
You snort at her comment, clearing your throat before speaking again. “Javi and I were best friends growing up, just like I told you. When high school came around, though, everything changed for me. I realized that I felt—well, much different than I did before. It was tormenting, really, to see him go through other relationships and also suffer through some of my own, knowing where my heart truly was. And then… senior prom rolled around.” You pause, feeling your chest get heavy as you recount the night that used to be so perfect to you—and now is so tainted. “We went together. As friends—I thought. And then we danced together, and we kissed, and we started acting like a couple, and then we… you know…”
Connie covers her hand with her mouth to suppress a gasp. You give her a knowing nod.
“I thought we’d be together after that. But Javi pretended that nothing ever happened, and I played along until just before he left for college. Our confrontation didn’t go as well as expected, and that’s the last time I saw him until a week ago.” You bite your lip for a moment, trying to collect your thoughts and emotions. “No matter how many years passed by, though, my heart stayed with him. I fuckin’ hate the fact that I can’t get rid of him. And now, having him back in my life, but having to see what I saw last night…” You trail off, shaking your head as Connie gives you a sympathetic look.
“Oh, sweetheart, I’m so sorry.” You smile a bit when Connie reaches a hand over to grab one of yours. “That’s real tough. I had no idea you two were that close.”
“I tried not to make it obvious,” you confess with a curt chuckle.
“Well… that explains a lot of the reason why Steve kept sensin’ tension.” Connie lets out a deep breath, and her eyes suddenly widen as she releases your hand. You feel alert at her change in demeanor, and you almost start to question it until she tells you herself. “Oh shit, girl, I hope you’re not a chatty drunk.”
You furrow your brow. “Why?”
Connie swallows hard. “Javi’s the one who took you home last night.”
Your heart practically leaps into your throat upon hearing her words. Javi? you ask yourself. But I thought he was with the woman. Why wouldn’t he have brought her home? “Really?”
Connie nods. “Steve asked him to, because we thought out of the three of us, he’d know the best way to take care of you. But if you got drunk because of him, and then you were talkin’ when you were with him and let it slip, I…” Connie trails off, and she doesn’t have to say anything else. Your fears are now laid out on the table.
“Fuck,” you curse, gripping your hair in your hands as you lean your elbows against the counter. “Oh my fuck, Connie, what if I said some dumb shit? We just came to a kind of truce and made it through the week, and what if I messed it up?”
“I’m sure it’s fine, sweetheart. We’re probably just stressin’ for no reason. You seemed pretty far gone when you left me.”
You shake your head, knowing all the frustrations that lay deep within your chest and would gladly jump out at Javier if you had the chance or the confidence. You don’t get drunk often—at all—but you do know that your confidence while drunk skyrockets, which means you might’ve actually had the balls to say something potentially damaging to Javier.
Before you have a chance to respond to her words of comfort, a knocking suddenly sounds at the front door. Connie excuses herself as she disappears into the hallway, and you listen as she pauses to look through the peephole and then unlocks the door. The voice that reverberates off the walls hits you directly in your chest, and you soon find yourself practically stumbling out of your chair as you dare to approach them.
“… seen her?” you pick up part of Javier’s extremely panicked words. “She’s not in her apartment, and I know that in her state, she wouldn’t have been able to get far—.” Javier stops when he looks beyond Connie to see you as you finally pop into the hallway. You try to still your heart as it thuds against your chest upon seeing his expression of pure worry—for you. He’s still in an outfit he would typically wear to work, and you would wonder if he ever wore anything else at all if you weren’t so wrapped up in the fact that he’s pursuing you. “Bella,” Javier finally breaks the tense silence, his voice sounding like a gasp of relief. “I… you scared me, there.”
“Sorry,” you manage to say meekly in response. “Don’t worry, I’m okay.”
Another silence persists, and this time it’s only broken by Connie as she clears her throat and gestures back towards the kitchen. “Do you want to come in for a drink or something, Javi? Steve’s out right now, but he should be back soon.”
You never break your gaze with Javier, trying to convince him to come in so you can clear your conscience about the night before with him. But all you see in his gaze is a flash of further fear, regret, and pain, and you know he’s not going to stay. On top of that, you know you must’ve said something utterly terrible to him last night, because the only other time you’ve seen his eyes flash like that is when you told him you never wanted to see him again. “I’m alright,” Javier finally dismisses Connie’s offer in his usual gruff voice. “I’ve got some errands to run. But thanks, anyway.” Connie nods, and Javier gives you a curt nod as well. “I’m glad you’re okay, bella.” With that, he turns away to leave.
Before he can go too far, you hurry over to the door, stepping outside to call to Javier where he’s descending the stairs. “Javi!” you exclaim, and he turns around quickly to face you. Your stomach sinks at the way his gaze practically begs you to let him go. “Thank you. For taking care of me last night.”
Javier simply gives you another nod, turning back around to finish going down the stairs. You try to swallow the lump in your throat as you retreat into Connie’s apartment, practically falling against the counter dramatically when you get there. Connie follows you with a grimace.
“Shit!” you curse angrily, feeling Connie place a comforting hand on your shoulder. You meet her gaze to find her sympathy, and you let out a heavy sigh as you shake your head at her. “I know I said something bad. I could see it written all over him.” You bite your lip, not wanting to dwell on the dark thought you’re conceiving of but having to face the reality of it. “If I didn’t ruin things all those years ago, then I definitely managed to do it, now—after only a week.”
Connie shakes her head as she invites you to sit back down, instead changing the subject as she tries her best to get your mind off things. But it’s too late—you’re already sinking into the black hole you’ve created for yourself. You’d broken things before you even had a chance to fix them, and that’s something you’re not sure you can ever forgive yourself for.
Later that night, you’re going onto your countless hour of despaired solitude, only able to sit on your couch and stare endlessly into the television screen as your mind continues to torment you. You’re still not sure what you said to Javier that made him feel so hurt and afraid. There are too many possibilities, and you don’t want to start considering which one you went for. Each one you manage to think of brings a sharp pain to your chest, so you decide to keep burying them deep inside and hope that he’s just gotten upset over something trivial.
Your thinking’s interrupted by the sound of clattering coming from the hallway. Immediately, you reach for the remote and turn off the television, freezing in place as you tune your ears into whatever could be going down. When you hear more chaos, you practically leap off the couch and hurry to your peephole, looking through to see if you can get a view of what’s going on. Your stomach twists into terrible knots when you finally observe the scene. All it takes is seeing an unfamiliar woman walk through the door of Javier’s apartment for you to understand what’s happening—and hope you don’t have to hear it, like Steve once said you might.
But you don’t even have to hear anything for the memories to start back up like clockwork, ticking to the sounds of the flashback you can never get out of your head.
“Are you sure you’re alright with this?”
You shake your head, closing your eyes as you lean your back against the door. You’re trying to shake it from your head, but you can’t—especially as you further picture what could be happening right down the hall.
“I’ve never been more certain of anything in my life, cariño.”
I should’ve said no, you lament to yourself. I should’ve fucking said no. You manage to make it over to your couch again, resting your elbows on your knees as you let your face fall into your hands. Your heart is screaming at you to remember anything, literally fucking anything, other than what your mind’s choosing to right now, but it’s got a chokehold on you. Now that you’re aware of what Javier’s up to, you can only picture that moment when you were in the same position.
“You’re doing amazing, bella. Fuck—you’re doing so good.”
You can hear his voice so clearly in your head. Still trying to be mindful of the migraine that’d radiated through your head for most of the day but needing to force something out of it, you take your hair in your fists and give it a firm tug.
“Eres mi princesa, bella—siempre. Good girl—God, you’re so beautiful. You always have been.”
They were lies! you want to scream aloud. They were all fucking lies! The way he’d comforted you, made you feel so special, and even murmured a forever—it was all bullshit. You know he’s probably saying the same exact things to the woman you’ve just seen.
“Javi… cariño… I—fuck—I—.”
“Shhh, I know, bella. I know, mi amor.”
Thank God he hadn’t let you say it. But having the audacity to follow it up with those promising words of mi amor makes you want to punch the wall. Upon hearing that for the first time, you truly thought everything was going to change—and instead, you’re here many years later, knowing he’s calling a stranger the same thing just a few feet away down the hall.
The voices have just started to fade into the feeling of your skin burning underneath his tender touch when another commotion outside your door interrupts you. Thankful for the distraction from your torment, you hop up from the couch and head for the peephole—already hearing a female yelling something in Spanish. Sure enough, when you look outside, you see the same woman from before storming out of Javier’s apartment and heading for the door to the outside. You raise an eyebrow, wondering how such a sudden turnaround could’ve happened.
You release a breath you never realized you were holding, glad that the memory’s starting to fade away as you head for the couch again. You stop, however, when you hear a hesitant knocking at your door. A pit forms in your stomach, and you turn around slowly to face the door yet again. You’re pretty certain of who’s standing there, and you’re not sure you’re ready to face them after the chaos they just unleashed on your mind. As soon as you open the door, however, you’re at their mercy—feeling your heart sink at the sight of their dark gaze brimming with unshed tears.
“Cariño,” you whisper, resting a gentle hand on his shoulder. You attempt to push past the fact that half his shirt’s unbuttoned, his lips are more swollen than usual, and his hair’s in quite a disarray, solely wanting to make him feel at ease. “What’s wrong?”
Javier shakes his head, biting his lip to keep himself from releasing the tears that still fill his eyes. You let out a soft breath and gesture towards the couch, seeing him head towards it with relief as you close the door behind him. You sit beside him gingerly, your gaze never leaving him. He’s leaning his elbows on his knees as his clasped hands rest over his mouth, his eyes looking endlessly into your coffee table. No matter how painful your latest memories of him have been, or how afraid you are of whatever you said to him last night, it absolutely devastates you to see him like this—so you let your hand fall on his back as your thumb rubs soothing circles over it.
“How can I help you, Javi?”
Javier blinks once, his gaze never moving as he finally rests his hands below his chin and offers an answer. “You can’t.” His gruff voice is broken, and the sound of it makes your heart absolutely shatter.
“Why not?” You keep your question gentle, to avoid provoking him by mistake.
“Because.” Javier pauses, taking a shaky breath before he finally looks over at you. The same fear, pain, and regret from earlier is in his gaze, and you wish you could just make it all disappear. “I don’t deserve it.”
You grimace, your hand slowly falling from his back. “Javi—.”
“I brought a woman in,” Javier cuts you off, clenching his jaw as he stares at something beyond you, “wanting to use her like I always do. To forget shit. To avoid it. But this time, fuck, all I could remember was you saying that I made you feel like a whore that one night, and I… I couldn’t help thinking, what if I make all of them feel like that? Because it seems I’ve sure as fuck made myself out to be just that.”
Your whole body goes cold, and you can barely speak around the lump in your throat as you dare to respond. “When did I say that?”
Javier’s gaze returns to yours, and you can see the horror he feels upon hearing your words. “Last night,” he breathes. “You don’t remember that?”
You shake your head. “I don’t remember anything after dancing at the bar, Javi.”
Javier looks away from you. “Fuck,” he curses to himself. “Fuck.”
You start to panic, realizing that this is the thing you’ve been dreading all day. “Look, Javi, I was drunk, and you know I don’t get drunk often. I probably didn’t even know what I was saying.”
“That was some pretty deep bullshit to have made up on the spot, bella.” Javier’s gaze snaps back to you, and those same three emotions are present in his eyes. “You don’t need to lie to me. I heard all your pain myself.” Upon saying that, you see his eyes widen slightly, and he stands up from the couch in a rush. You rise after him, watching as he rubs his hands on his thighs nervously and looks towards the door. “I don’t know why I came, I—I shouldn’t have come.” He looks at you quickly, averting your gaze as he gives you a nod. “Sorry.” Javier then takes off for your door, leaving you in a daze as you try to follow him.
“Wait, cariño!” you exclaim, trying to keep him from fleeing. He’s fast, however, and you only have time to get to your door when you see him walking back into his apartment and no doubt locking the door behind him. “Shit.” You slam your door closed and rest your forehead against it, closing your eyes and chewing your lip as you try to bury the sudden pain and confusion that’s rushed on like a wave.
You’re confident that you’ve managed to ruin your attempt at a second chance with Javier before you could even try to start it—and, in the process, contributed to the further damaging of his self-image. So much for leaving the shitshow in Texas.

Draco’s Entrance
Hi! It has been a while, but I should be updating again in a couple of days. I started school again, so that means I will be procrastinating on my homework to write fanfics. I have been busy looking at Harry Styles etsy shops, longing to get something, but sadly must save my money. Has anyone purchase anything interesting? Comment below. Also, comment questions you would ask Jay? The next chapter should be about learning more about Jay.
Enjoy part 4.
Part 1:Volturi
Part 2: The Truth
Part 3:Wonder
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Well, don't you look all motherly and comfortable with these blood-suckers," a cold, menacing voice drawled out, surprising the vampires and Bella with the sudden intrusion.
Jay did not react, knowing the familiar voice of her lover, which is the same mean tone of his when he is surrounded by unknown people.
She honestly found it adorable when he would glare like an angry animal with a cute face, but would never tell him that. Silence filled the house, no one speak, the vampire listens in, waiting for what Jay will do. Bella bites her lower lip, nervous about a fight breaking out in Edward's home, despite them having money to pay for any damages, not thinking about the magical figures in the kitchen.
Jay only smirks, striding towards Draco, hips swaying in a nonchalantly way, not worried about what Draco will do, especially knowing how stronger she is than him. She wraps her arms around his neck, not caring about his arms crossed as if on guard due to the vampire presence. His arms start to loosen, the desire to wrap his arms around her waist, but he stood his ground.
"Dray, are you jealous?" She asked, a teasing smile forming on her lips, "you know, I will always be yours," she whispers, not caring for the vampires could hear them. A small growl filled the silence after Jay stops to speak. This time she heard, making her confused as to who is making that noise.
Before she could ask about the growl, Draco pulled her closer to his body, enveloping her in, claiming her cherry red lips for his own, hungrily and longing to make up for the lost time of their vacation. Jay's eyes widen at the sudden movement, forgetting  Draco's need to "claim" her in a manly way, but she did not mind when she feels those soft lips on hers that still give her butterflies like the day of the Yule Ball. His fingers gently glide against her back, daringly as they get closer to the hem of her top, thinking it was only the two of them in the room. Jay smiles in the kiss, feeling a bit ticklish, but not about to expose herself like that. Jay gently pushes him away, face slightly red, lips slightly open to help gain her breathing back.
Draco smirks, looking as if he was not affected by the little make-out session the two just had. He walks over to the blonde-haired vampire, who has Teddy in her arms. " I would like my cousin," Draco told her in an icy tone, which would help him get his way, but the woman does not budge; she glares at him. "It's okay, Rosalie. He is just in a bad mood, don't pay him attention. When he realizes you are not noticing him, then he will go pout in a corner," Jay teased, walking over to the two, getting Teddy from Rosalie grasp.
Snickers surround the five as they make their way to the living room (Draco more like trailing behind, scoffing at the riddles situation he is in). "I do not pout, " he replies, crossing his arms once again, before giving a quick overview of Teddy, wanting to make sure he did not get hurt.
Sitting on the couch, Jay smiles happily, missing the pouting form of Draco, since he did not like showing that side of him with his Slytherin friends or her friends. Draco sat on the armrest, not fully trusting the family of vampires, knowing any minute one could go berserk for their sweet magical blood.
Bella could not stop staring at the man next to her cousin. She could not help the green monster fill her as she realizes the handsome man must be Jay's partner. Something about him screamed bad boy to Bella, which made her feel nervous in a positive way. 'Are all the guy's Jay know to look like that,' Bella thought, feeling her check burn as she saw him look at her for a second, but then looks next to her. Bella shifts her eyes to the floor, hoping her hair would cover her flaming cheeks, not needing anyone to notice; especially, Edward. 'Thank goodness he can't hear my thoughts."
Draco hated being in the room with the vampires. He wanted to leave with Jay and Teddy but knew he could not convince her to leave. His eyes trailed from one vampire to the next, analyzing everything he could about them. His eyes meet a pale teen, Jay's cousin, he assumes, seeing nothing special about the girl. His eyes meet the last vampire, not liking him at all, 'probably an emo guy listening to depressing music,' Draco thinks, smirking. His eyes widen slightly, feeling someone trying to get into his mind. He narrows his eyes to see the same "emo" vampire looking worn out. 'That's what the loser gets for trying to enter a Malfoy's mind,' Draco things, glancing at Jay to see her smiling innocently. Draco softly chuckles, knowing she had something to do with the vampire's look, which he did not mind.
"So, who is this?" Esme asked, trying to deflate the tension between everyone. Esme could tell the man did not want to be there, but he was sticking around for Jay.
"This is Draco," Jay said, shifting so Teddy could bounce on her knee, while one of her hands lay on Draco's thigh, noticing her cousin's look. Draco loosened at her touch but still guarded.
"Did you talk to Harry?" Jay asked, already knowing the answer, but she did wonder what Harry would say.
"Yeah, and he was worried about the two of you. He then started ranting on how I could leave the two of you, not knowing you left me," Draco drawled, not liking the fact he was reprimanded by Potter.
Chuckling, Jay shakes her head, imagining Draco's face as he is being lectured from Harry. "Hey, at least you never experienced Hermione's lectures," Jay said, shivering at the scary memory. "Did you get the thing I asked for?" She asked, knowing he would have completed the errand real quickly because he is a Malfoy.
Draco reaches in his pocket, pulling out a few papers and a set of keys. "I still don't know why you wanted this," Draco grumbles, handing the items to his girlfriend, grumpy for the trouble he had to go through.
Jay winks at Draco, not commenting, before looking at the vampires. Everyone was staring at the little family, which made Jay feel like she was at Hogwarts again.
Jay sat next to Harry, piling food on her plate, hearing the whispers, but not caring. She had to deal with people talk about her all her life, so people gossiping about her is not fazing.
"Did you hear about Jay?" A second-year Ravenclaw girl questioned the girl beside her, trying to fight off the smile.
"No, what?" The friend responds, glancing at Jay through her lashes, hoping not to get caught staring. She glances back at her friend, wanting to know what is going on.
"She was caught kissing Harry's enemy. Draco Malfoy, under the willow tree," the gossip said, not bothering to be quiet, letting everyone around her hear the rumor. The Great Hall quiets down after hearing the girl speak, which makes everyone look at Harry and Jay. Ron starts choking on his food, disgusted at the thought of one of his friends with that bully. Hermione rolls her eyes, pats Ron's back, knowing the truth because she was the one that warned Jay.
Harry's green eyes flicker to her eyes, wondering how Jay would respond to the stares. Jay did warn him there would be talk, but he did not know it would be this soon. Harry felt horrible; she was experiencing people talk about her. Harry lifts his right hand, locking his fingers with her soft, pale fingers, showing he supports one of his best friends.
Jay stops piling food on her plate, surprised at Harry holding her hand, but the action does warm her heart. The tiniest smile on her face, she leans over to place her head on his shoulder, showing how grateful she felt before she began to eat. Their hands were still entwined even after the four walked off to class, not paying attention to the chatter or stares.
"I should go, my mother was looking forward to seeing Teddy again," Draco mumbles, leaning to take the boy in his arms. He gives Jay a sweet and chaste kiss on the lips, "I love you, be safe," then like that, Draco was gone.
Jay claps her hands, "Bella, are you hungry?" Bella jumps as the attention is shifted to her, which makes her quite uneasy, but she nods her head. Jay glances at Esme and Carlisle, "may I use your kitchen," as she gets up, dusting off imaginary dust.
Esme smiles brightly, standing as well," of course, dear. Would you like some help?"  Jay tilts her head, examining if Esme was seriously offering to aid before nodding.
"Sure, I would appreciate the help. Goodness knows, Bella can not cook to save her life. Also, you can ask me more questions if you have any," Jay said, following Esme to the kitchen. The other vampires and Bella stay put, not having an idea of what they should do. Edward decides to play the piano to help him think. Bella watches Edward play, still in awe over his talent. Jasper and Emmett decided to play a video game, ready to listen to the conversation in the kitchen.  Rosalie kept thinking about the baby, Teddy, who she got to hold, and how she wanted a baby. Alice was sitting, trying to get any vision, but failing miserably. Carlisle decided he was not needed, and wanted to ask Jay more questions, and went to the kitchen.
Esme and Jay began to make ravioli, talking about little things about being a vampire. When Carlisle enters, he watches the ladies talking. "Jay, I do have a few questions about the magical world, if you don't mind me asking," he states, not wanting to be rude.
Jay glances over her shoulder, beaming at the vampire doctor, "no worries. At least you ask, not like Eddie over there trying to read minds, " she mutters angrily as the act to invade her mind. The two vampires are quite, glancing at each other in concern.
"What are your questions," Jay asked, resuming cooking, missing the exchange glances of the vampires.
