favourite stupid relationship dynamic: idiots who would immediately protect and defend the other but never themself

#still thinking about how lxl just takes whatever life throws at them without fighting back (esp in the lxl movie)#so it was up to the other (mainly yujiro) to do the protecting (of aizo) since he was clearly not going to do anything about it #poor yujiro never fought back against the longleg/shortleg until aizo was brought up… no sense of self-preservation with that one #‘you can mess with me but not my bf!!!!!’ kind of energy #ig aizo did kind of defend yujiro in the [redacted] anime ep 4 nonsense and pointless scandal scene but that’s about it…#give aizo more chances to play the hero for his cute bf!!!!! the princess carry wasn’t enough!!!!#though. ngl it’s kinda funny how aizo’s always portrayed as the husband and yujiro the wife in their r/s (see: meoto)#but yujiro is always the one fighting for aizo’s honour. l&k novel (i think; still havent read it). lxl movie. chizu hallway scene (kind of)#and even in honeypre he got aizo the werewolf costume (instead of the pumpkin). he was the one who gave aizo a gift on white day (like a bf)#he even turned aizo into a worried wife when he (the bumbling husband) wandered out till late in kyoto to look for a *phone strap*#hm. well. im not sure what the point im trying to make is other than the fact that lxl are idiots for each other ig #they may be really really stupid but they love(?) and support each other (in a sense)… two menaces in a pod.#they should just get married (again)#though speaking of lxl marriage remember when that music magazine spread misinfo about how meoto was set in the sengoku era #and everyone believed it? the mv sure shocked everyone in more ways than one lmaooooooo #lxl twt was on fire that day. ‘horns??? a fantasy setting????? what happened to the sengoku era?????’ it was so funny you h a d to be there #but. hm. we’ve had quite a lxl content drought… disregarding the [redacted] mv they havent been seen in 4 months #throwing out a guess that they’ll get a new song for a winter comiket cd or sth. idk #sure hope that lxl do not get a new song or mv before kimikawaii release though bc that’d be unfairrrrrrrrr

#Dreamed of the new b/sd chapter 😔#It was weirdly evocative in the way I can distinctively remember turning it page by page. It was also embarrassingly self-indulgent #Sooooo the chapter opened with Higuchi focus. The first page was all black with a speech bubble saying “—guchi... Higuchi...”#with someone calling for her but their voice unable to quite reach her.#On the second page there was a close-up of her face. On the third page there was a side view of Higuchi running.#Both still with solid black background and both with bits of sentences from her past.#Someone telling her “Try again. Make the knife drop” or something of that kind? Something related to Higuchi's unknow ability anyway #Finally her saying something like “Akutagawa-san‚ will you take me in even despite my—”#Then the pov switched back to the ss/kk/Gozen fight‚ except Kyouka and Lucy were there too fighting alongside ss/kk.#Because of course they were 😭😭😭😭 This was so predictable of mine it's laughable #Except... The setting and designs and overall aesthetic were all changed to fit some kind of medieval fantasy.#And there was an exposition introduction where they were all being described as knights and sorceresses.#Their outfits being reinvented to look from a medieval setting #Which eh. Makes sense I was reading w/ha before going to sleep 😔#Then I think I was interrupted in my reading and the dream proceeded but eh that was something #At this point I've dreamed about the to come b/sd chapter so many times I could make a tag about it.#I swear I'm normal about my interests #random rambles

#thinking of dinosaurs and troodontids were my favorite dinosaurs as a child #when younger i had a real full troodontid tooth fossil that meant a lot to me #for a time we lived within a few kilometers of hadrosaur sites and troodontid sites #while wider general area had many sites of recovery for the big celebrities like tyrannosaur and multiple dromaeosaurs #at that time troodontids were kinda infamous for i think the depiction in some childrens field guides and dino books #which depicted like a fantasy speculative humanoid troodontid based on 1980s model at Canadian Museum of Nature in ottawa #anyway would visit a small local paleo center a lot and woman in her 70s or 80s ran the counter of their center and rock shop #one day she asked me what my fave dino was and i said troodon so she pulled out the tooth and just gifted it to me #in little black case size of ring box with padding and transparent plastic viewing cover kinda like laminate for displaying a trading card #tooth got stolen from out my vehicle while giving some people a ride while at university before i got too poor for tuition #later during first year of pandemic owner of my storage unit died and new property owners threw away everything i ever owned #i was homeless anyway lost job due to early pandemic closures and had to allocate any money to insulin and other prescrip meds #but wouldve found a way to save my things if the new owners had contacted me #they threw out photoalbums y backpacking gear y books y musical instruments y clothes y artwork y camera y all family keepsakes #and all childhood treasures like souvenirs and gifts and school awards and writing portfolios and all the little memories #which i was always sentimental about as child #from earliest age my room looked like a natural history museum with plants and maps and library of field guides #and rocks and field trip keepsakes and all kinds of little animal figurines and mother had painted room in forest greens and browns #to feel like a forest and among the succulent plants and a globe sat the troodon tooth #parents passed when i was a child #never near any family and were always moving never got to settle into proper stable place then father passed after long sad illness #and mother put in so much effort but she passed few years later and i could not take care of myself or my remaining material possessions #and so im still quite hurt having nothing whatsoever remaining of my childhood or school friends or mother or life generally #and when trying to process grief my thoughts often come back to the troodontid tooth as a focal point a distillation of what was lost #even when young i knew it was advised not to become too connected to material physical possessions #but still there are some small little trinkets in our lives that seem to hold so much meaning and i tortured myself for losing that tooth #thinking about troodon reminds me of childhood

#zelda #echoes of wisdom #I still can't quite believe it's finally happening tbh! took ya long enough nintendo #anyway how are you!! sorry for the radio silence lately haha #my 7-year-old computer actually chose the week I was trying to finish my piece for the magic book zine to give up the ghost entirely #(luckily I just barely managed to coax it into hanging in there until after the deadline haha!)#so all my drawing lately has been like... experimenting to figure out how to use the newer versions of everything #I am old gandalf. I know I don't look it but I'm beginning to feel it #had a really good time drawing this though! playing around with new ways to do the light effects made me positively GIDDY #and zelda's design! I've seen people saying the game's visual design looks too simple but imo that's actually a good thing?#because the simpler the canon art style is the more creative input we have in our own interpretations of it #medieval tailoring is my special interest so my take on it is very loosely based on like mid-late 14th-century kirtles #as far as I know they didn't really have split skirts or that shade of purple back then but eh it's fantasy haha #I wasn't super clear on how the cloak fastens so I based it on the one frodo wears at the start of lord of the rings. you know the one #the outer edges have tabs at the top that sort of cross over each other and attach with brooches to the shoulders #I guess it's kind of like how marth and lucina's cloaks work?#but anyway I shall see you anon! hopefully before the game actually comes out haha #only 98 sleeps to go though! A small tool carved from a fruit tree seed. Energy to power the enchantment has seemingly run-out long ago, and the method of recharging is unknown - but, based on the appearance, it's very likely that this was once used for detecting magic. Usually, looking through the glass center would highlight areas of higher magical energy concentration present in the viewer's environment, even if they were otherwise obscured to the naked eye. While this form of enchantment itself is highly advanced, the craftsmanship of the item is far less neat or complex than what might be typically seen in similar devices. It may have been made as part of training/practice, or as a hasty replacement for a previous tool that had broken.

#written from the perspective of some fantasy traveler who checks all of the local thrift-stores and lost & found places for every #town they visit - looking for interesting items and documenting them or something #In reality - just another one of my goofy little avocado pit carvings lol. Still working on inlaying little stones in them and stuff #I don't really have the tools to make super intricate stuff but doing little plain swirly patterns is still fine enough lol.#WORKING ON NEW POLL ADVENTURE also I know I know it's been months.. I have been Busy and struck by the evils of summer #But like I mentioned in the previous one I do want to at LEAST finish the quest with the egg lol #ANYWAY.#Things like this would plausibly exist in Nanyevimi (my fantasy world) but wouldn't be very common as - like mentioned- this would be an #extremely advanced enchantment. REALLY advanced mages could sense magic around them (to varying degrees of pinpoint accuracy of location #) without even having to use any external device. But for a majority of people there's really no way to know someone is using magic near #you unless you either see visual proof or if it's strong enough to feel effects from it (since magic is kind of like radiation in that the #higher energy/more of it youre exposed to the more it damages you/can make you sick/etc.) and even then most people would just be like #'hmm why do I feel so nauseous and bad out of nowhere?' likely wouldn't directly think to link it to magic. Thus the only really reliable w #way isto just hone your senses over like 500 years as you become an expert mage - OR use enchantments like these. But a 'sense magic' encha #ntment is not as common as a just 'magic is not allowed here' enchantment. If you wanted to prevent magic from being usedin a space #it's easier to just put up a broad barrier enchantment around that space than to have some sort of Magic Sensor to pick out if it's being #done and then handle each individual case of it . etc. etc. These sort of things can have their uses (especially for people investigating #things or trying to be secretive about detecting something etc.) but are less common - especially in this form (where visuals are used. itd #be more likely to jsut have like 'piece of metal that gets warm or cool depending on magic nearby'.) ANWAY so this is why it's a notable #object. Though a majority of the realm is not very magic literate - if you were a researcher or a mage and found this at a pawn shop you'd #definitely be like 'oohhh!! :0 inch resting... ' if not you might just be like 'oh cool necklace!' lol #also love the quick 2min ''costume'' for the image of it being used. literally just 'wrap yourself in scarves from the waist up' and slap o #a wig and ears lol #on this blog I guess since it's worldbuilding related and technically art.. maybe more like crafting? I should have a crafts tag lol.. hmm

I have a thought rolling around in my head about how fandom has a very rigid, very bland, very one-dimensional idea of what a ‘good’ parent looks like, and how this vision is entirely fantasy and wish-fulfillment

#like they come off as soooo ‘I wanted my parents to be supportive in everything I did and never get mad ever no matter what’#and like… that’s not a person doing right by their child that’s an fantasy to make you feel like everything about you is good #you’re imagining robots that pat you on the head and call you good all the time #those aren’t PEOPLE #parents are people #which- and I’m sorry people don’t know this- but you would know if you had a positive healthy relationship with any kind of parental figure #and it gets me cause I think I write feanor as a very positive kind of father #but Ive gotten SO MANY comments going ‘oh I don’t like bad dad fenaor but your stuff-‘ and I’m just like ???#I don’t write him as a bad dad! I write him as a person! a personality! and not some validation dispensing machine #and even the ‘good’ ‘great’ parents mess their kids up in some ways it’s literally impossible to not have a few hang ups from your parents #it’s about TRYING and TALKING and LOVE tho #not being perfectly accepting of everything no matter what #anyway that’s just what I had to say #new fandom challenge- write interesting parents #Tribble post

Three weeks have passed since Daichi met Kuroo and had the strangest, most wonderful weekend in... probably his whole damn life. Even better... through some miraculous twist of fate, Kuroo seems to be just as into Daichi as Daichi is into Kuroo.

Of course, that miracle hasn't come without complications. That'd be too easy, wouldn't it?

“It’s just,” he said, choking a little on the words, “If you say all that to anyone… what… what makes me special, I guess.” As soon as he said it, he realized how childish it sounded. He shook his head sharply and rubbed his face. “No, that’s stupid, I’m sorry…” “Hey,” Kuroo said, finally taking Daichi’s chin between a thumb and forefinger, stilling that constant rocking and making him look into his eyes. Daichi was shocked to see they were red and shining, too. “It’s not stupid. It’s a good question. It has so many answers already, and we’re only just starting out."

looking at beginners guides to solo rpg but theyre all failing to realize I Am Fucking Stupid

#my first experiendce with ttrpgs was bad #i was nervous and the experienced players wouldnt leave any room to join in #dm said they would help engage me in the game but kept forgetting i was there so it was hours of spacing out and doing #what the other players wanted me to. so i dropped out after a point #also just in general dont like the very basic high fantasy of dnd and the setting for that campaign was the magicak world and new york #so there wasnt really much interesting to play with. it was kind of just like setdressing for friends to chat instead of a story to play #so now i do wanna try playing a solo rpg but even the beginner guides are either made for ppl who already play ttrpgs and know whats goingon #or theyre just by ppl who are bad at explaining things to absolute beginners #theres also the money issue where idk if i should spend anything on a hobby im still only testing hashtag unemployment #whatever ill figure it out eventually. or maybe i wont. idk maybe this is just something i wont be able to do

I turned Varley into a highlady again and I'm kinda seriously thinking about sticking with it this time.

#final fantasy #ffxiv #varley gloome #I played the benchmark as a Viera and...she just doesn't really look like herself anymore with the new graphics?#like the original idea when I made the character was to try and make a kinda butch/tomboyish Viera #which has been kind of an uphill battle the whole way with how typically femme most of their animations are #but then I played the benchmark trailer and saw that they gave them these big ol' eyelashes by default in Dawntrail #so while I'm not fully decided yet I may have to finally accept that Highlander fits what I'm going for way better
