favorite thing about them

Her contrast, the different facets of her personality that make her, well, her. She is kind, cheery, and understanding, but she is also firm, can be threatening, and takes absolutely 0 of our bullshit. And the best part is that all of these make perfect sense - she is kind because she is hopeful you'll repent and help her leave (and perhaps because your perception skews more positive of her, after learning of what the Narrator puts you through as a "reward"), but she also never lets you forget that you still killed her in cold blood.

least favorite thing about them

This will probably be true for most StP characters, I can't think of any specific that I dislike about pretty much all of them. So most of the time, if it's going to be anything, it'll be something very minor and silly - in this case, it's Spectre's tattered skirt on her dress (it's hard to draw, that's literally it)

favorite line

"All I know is there's a hole in my chest, and not the big obvious one that you put there. There's something older and deeper. A nagging reminder that I'm not where I'm supposed to be."

I like to imagine a close friendship between Nightmare and Spectre! No particular reason (besides them being a shared pair routes), but there is something fun about them hanging out and chatting while drinking some nice tea :]

Definitely SpectreCold! There is just something really beautiful about how much they contrast each other and yet, ultimately, both yearn for similar things, it's just all feelings, connection, longing. I started really, really liking them after this post by @/wintergrofyuri. Go read it! They explain my own feelings on this ship way better than I ever could (T v T)

random headcanon

I kind of mentioned it in the first question, but I think that part of the reason why she's so kind and understanding is because your / TLQ's perception of her changes as a result of the Narrator trying to shove you into the Good Ending™. Up until that point, you follow the Narrator without question and so when he essentially betrays you... you begin to see him as the "villain" of this story. And since you didn't have much of a chance to really get to know the princess before you killed her... I'd like to think that this shift in perspective also contributes to Spectre's cheery and hopeful attitude :]

I don't think it's all that unpopular, but we need more sassy and threatening Spectre <3 This is a self-callout more than anything because I'm very guilty of drawing and writing her as too kind and sweet ^^;;;

~ Favorite thing about them

For starters, I LOVE HERO so much because he's been with us (TLQ) since the very beginning and even showed up at the end of Shifting Mound "fight".

And of course because he really cares about our well being. He hates dying and clearly very against hurting ourself and usually caring about the Princess' well being a lot too. He's a very... vulnerable? character, he's really sweet. I think the only times he's given up on us would be in the Tower (pledge), and in the Fury when he dies...

Also I like his voice.

~ Least favorite thing about them

It's not the thing I dislike of him, more like - I dislike the things that happen to him. The bad things. My heart HURTS when I hear he's in pain (but I am an angst/whump enjoyer so..)

And I know he's safe, I know he's willing, I know he's probably going to be okay and find the others, but leaving him in the cabin (in Leave with Princess Ending) makes me feel a little hollow.

Okay I admit it, I really like his voice. I like all the voices. This game has REALLY good voice acting.

Hero and Paranoid or maybe Contrarian - Hero seems like the type to try to get along with everyone. I loved the part where Hero had to run the autonomic nervous system, very silly, and I think Hero would have quite a lot of respect for Para for being able to do that. As for Connie, well they have some fun banter, and Connie stays with Hero in the cabin

Spectre/Spectre III x Hero as a rarepair? I just really like how Spectre calls him "the nice one".

I wanted to say that HEA would be a sweet one, but then again Hero was the one who suggested to just stay there and it made both of them kinda suffer... The same goes for Nightmare and Cage.

Are they brOTP or OTP? Maybe both, I don't know. I just think they'd enjoy each other's company very much.

Most of the "mean" or "dangerous" Princesses probably scare him or make him feel uncomfortable. I don't have any strong feelings on this though.

My friend says Hero can't spell restaurant.

If he ever finds the other voices after Leave with Princess ending, I think he'd try to lead the group after deducting that the others are way too traumatized or violent. Skeptic or Hunted might be second in command?

Not a headcanon but Hero reminds me of Noelle Holiday from Deltarune. They're insecure or a little hesitant about their own decisions and relatively nonconfrontational. They're kind to the ones closest to them, and generally want the best for everyone.

~ Unpopular opinion

He's not an uwu innocent delicate fragile boy.. I mean sure I act like it, but he does have his own wrongdoings/mistakes/things that would be better if he didn't ask us to do, like leave the Princess locked in (leads to Nightmare), leave immediately after Prisoner beheaded herself (leads to Cage), stay with Damsel (leads to HEA).

Although I think you can rationalize them? Most of his own decisions in Chapter IIs are fear-driven, but he's actually one of the more stable characters.

He's pretty insecure. He almost always waits for TLQ's decision before backing it up/defending us.

~ Song I associate with them

I don't listen to a lot of songs.. mostly OSTs or old Gacha animation memes.. seriously.

Girl Nextdoor or Lost Girl from Deltarune. Yeah.

He always tries to be peaceful and he's always been there for us. I think the softness of Lost Girl would suit him, I dunno.

The first two are the last ones I wrote when I discovered my all-time favorite OTP, Cal and Ryldinn. Ryldinn is my OC, a drow assassin.

Where Our Demons Hide is the BG3 story told through the experiences of Cal, Ryldinn (Tav), and Astarion. It's quite long and not finished yet, but there isn't much more to go.

Heat of the Night is lighter, sillier, AU story, set in BG with all the characters and magic, etc, but a more 1980s Miami feel. Characters have a set sexuality instead of being pan. This is going to be an ongoing series. Collab with @crowwolf. 118,983 words. Special warning for homophobia, slurs, and attempted assault.

Reclaiming Ourselves series takes place mostly after the events of BG3. It's 3 parts and it's a different experience depending on what order you read them in. Told from POV of Cal, Rolan, Zevlor, and Dammon in different bits with some 3rd person as well.

M/M, F/M, lots of smut, heavy angst, hurt/comfort.

Goodnight Kiss is sweet, with a shy bumbling Cal trying to get a girlfriend. 24,057 words.

Comfort in the Dark starts with Zevlor and Rolan, but our bitchy wizard eventually ends up with Dammon. Angsty. 22,217 words.

Who Am I? stars Zevlor with my OC Ilyrana, a high-elven draconic sorcerer. After being rejected by Rolan, the Paladin finally rediscovers the love of his life. 21,902 words.

Master of the Tower stars Rolan with an unnamed, vaguely described afab Tav. It begins in the Last Light Inn and goes a little beyond the game, but I don't discuss game events much; this one is all about them. It's angsty in parts, but also cute, funny and very smutty. The tiefling anatomy lesson seems to be a hit. 31,931 words in 3 parts.

F/M, smut, angst.

After Hell. Zevlor and Dammon hook up and then find themselves a girlfriend. After the events of the game. No real angst or drama, just lots of fun creative sex. 23,811 words in 3 parts.

M/F/M, smut.

How to Fix Your Broken Tiefling. This one is just pure love and adoration for Zevlor from a sweet little afab Tav who just wants to make him happy. 9,526 words.

F/M, smut, loss of virginity.

Quick and Dirty sees Zevlor, jealous and frustrated, coaxing a young, inexperienced afab Tav to... um... relieve his frustrations in the woods. This is dirty old man Zevlor and I enjoyed writing it. 1,699 words.

Dub-con, fellatio.

Fire, Ice and Darkness tells Zevlor’s story the way I think it should have been. It's unfinished, and I don't know if I'm going to do so, but it's not far from the end and if I get enough interest maybe I will. His love interest is my OC Nienna (Same person as Ilyrana, but she's Tav in this one.)

M/F, smut, heavy angst, graphic violence, slight non-con elements.

The New Chosen. Zevlor accepts the Absolute and becomes Her warrior. He then kidnaps Tav, an afab rogue, partly described and not named. This one isn't finished either. Again, I might circle back to it but it's a bit icky to write.

F/M, NON-CON. Like really. Violent and uncomfortable.

The Master's Lessons. Rolan finds out soon after becoming Lorroakan’s apprentice that the wizard has more in mind than teaching him magic. This is technically part of The Master of the Tower, but it's unhooked so people can skip it if it makes them uncomfortable. 5,817 words.

M/M. NON-CON. Not violent, but pretty gross anyway. Drugs and coercion used.

Bucky heard the sniffles before he felt the coolness of the empty space next to him, the rumpled blankets indicating that Steve wasn't lying beside him anymore. He rolled over to check the ancient clock on the nightstand in the gloom, his back aching in protest; it was three o'clock in the morning, and he was due at work again in just over four hours. But at that moment, he didn't particularly care.

Because there, on the fire escape, a moonlit silhouette of sharp angles and birdlike bones, desperately trying not to make too much noise, was Steve, his shoulders shaking with his restraint as tears splashed freely down his face - and Bucky felt his heart crack a little, just off-centre, like pressing on a bruise that had Steve mourning his mother's death written all over it. Like Steve's grief overran and spilled over in to his own.

He immediately got out of bed, careful not to be too loud and risk startling Steve, pulling one of their blankets off the bed with him - an emerald green woollen one, knitted by his own mother as a housewarming gift - and padded over to where Steve was hunched in the window, scrunched up so small he looked like he was trying to disappear entirely.

"Hey, Stevie," he said quietly, sitting cross-legged next to him. He reached for one of his thin hands, wrapping it in his own warm one, feeling how Steve's cold fingers trembled. He squeezed them, and Steve looked up at him finally, eyes red-rimmed and his pale face blotchy in the half-light of the moon and the few streetlamps that had flared to life outside down on the empty street.

"Didn't mean t' wake ya," Steve said thickly, wiping his dripping nose on his sodden pyjama sleeve. "Jus' needed - jus' needed to -"

"Think about your Ma in peace?" Bucky finished for him, already knowing what Steve couldn't find the words to express. He knew him like that - knew what he was thinking and feeling, almost all the time.

Steve nodded, sniffling, rubbing at a few errant tears still sliding down his cheeks. Even red-eyed and distraught, he was beautiful, Bucky thought, with his big blue eyes and sharp chin, freckled cheekbones and long dark lashes that would make any dame green with envy.

"S'okay," Bucky said, rubbing his thumb along the back of Steve's knuckles. "I know you miss her. Hell, I do, too. But I promised her I wouldn't leave you on your own, and, well...not lettin' you cry on our fire escape alone counts as that, so." He let go of Steve's hand and held out the blanket, spreading it wide. "C'mere."

Steve obliged, climbing down from the window and crawling into Bucky's lap, letting him drape the soft woollen blanket over his shoulders like he was a very small child. He tucked his head against Bucky's shoulder, pressing his nose into his collarbone and breathing in the scent of him - soap and sweat and the last remnants of cologne and pomade still clinging to his skin. Steve, on the other hand, smelled like clove cigarettes and charcoal and something lemony underneath it all, fresh like spring rain despite it being the end of summer, and would soon be going into fall.

Bucky wrapped his arms tight around him, pressing his lips to the salty damp of Steve's cheeks. With each new tear that fell, he kissed the spot immediately, brushing away the pain and the loneliness that Steve felt with every caress.

It was the least he could do when the person he loved most was hurting so damn much.

Even if he had to do it only in private.

Hi Brittany! You mentioned at various points that you love a good redemption arc, and as a fellow redemption arc hoe, I feel compelled to ask: what are your favorite ones? I'm extremely curious.

If you'd like an indication of what you've unleashed, I told The Wife that somebody asked about my favorite redemption arcs and she just went "......jesus."

I won't get too much into why I love a well done redemption arc but the greatly shortened version is: it makes us more empathetic toward real life redemption arcs, it reminds us of our own capacity for positive change, the touch-and-go element is compelling as hell, it challenges black and white thinking, and I find them deeply moving and engrossing and suspenseful and beautiful.

***Talking about redemption arcs is inherently spoilery so MAJOR SPOILERS ahead for lots of things.***

There are characters I loved to see redeemed and characters I'd kill to see redeemed, so starting with canon:

Canon

The Last of Us - The first game is a masterclass of this. It's the arc you don't compare others to because that would simply be unfair.

Captive Prince - Laurent's bitterness and cruelty undergoes such an incredible journey that I finished the first book wondering how the FUCK it was supposed to become a romance and the last book wondering how it could have gone any other way.

Loki - Ugh. Listen. Don't get me started. The only person rooting for Loki harder than me was Thor. I have a lot of issues with Ragnarok but I also can't express to you the joy experienced watching Loki finally Get There. I'm not sure why the redemption arc in his series was necessary since we'd already seen it happen, but then I haven't watched the show yet. (I also don't know how you would even do a Loki redemption without Thor being involved at all, but that's another thing entirely and also a little bias considering Thorki is one of my biggest OTPs of all time.)

Our Flag Means Death - Ed, my beloved. Easily one of the best arcs in recent memory.

Euphoria - Rue is a deeply important character to me for a lot of reasons, one of which being rooting for her redemption by way of sobriety. She hurts the people closest to her in a such visceral ways but I will always rooting for her much the same way as I'm forever rooting for addicts.

Phantom of the Opera - Formative for teen me. The tragedy of this musical hinges on the fact that the Phantom experiences redemption, but far too late to have any chance of Christine staying. Like, what do you want from me. I'm a hopeless romantic to the point of making it my literal job.

Homeland - This one is so fucking impactful and stunning that it deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as The Last of Us.

The Hunger Games - Haymitch's struggle from utter drunken hopelessness to revolutionary while still maintaining total Haymitch-ness is so endearing and such an important piece of the overall themes and messages.

Coriolanus - The entire play is one long (compelling) slog to try and turn this warmongering, egomaniacal asshole around towards mercy and forgiveness...but this is Shakespeare so it happens too late. But watching this man's entire toxic psyche get broken down and pulled back just enough is a truly wild thing to watch.

Anastasia - Yes, the animated 90s film from my formative years. Dimitri is part of my redemption arc blueprint (among other things) and it's so quintessentially told. Shout out to John Cusack for having a hot voice.

Tony Stark - The first Iron Man kicked off a multi-billion dollar franchise for a reason.

Harley Quinn - Toxic straight to anti-hero sapphic, fucking absolutely. We love to see it. Give Margot Robbie her Poison Ivy for fuck's sake.

The Greatest Showman - In this (highly) fictionalized version, Barnum sees how everything fell apart around him and how he used people along the way in search what he thought would bring self worth. His redemption song is the best number in a musical full of bangers, fight me.

Sabrina (1995) - Criminally fucking underrated rom-com remake. Harrison Ford? As a stoic heartless corporate dealmaker? Learning to break out of the long held path his father laid down for him and warm up his cold dead heart? Also formative for me.

Beauty and the Beast - If you haven't noticed, I love a Byronic hero. The old meme about this story being Stockholm Syndrome (a thing that doesn't exist in the first place) was incorrect. This is a redemption story right to the core. The Disney version was formative for kid me, but for adult me it's the 2014 French version all day every day.

Jane Eyre - You could argue that Rochester is somewhat less of a redemption arc than a 'man brutally humbled for his desperate mistakes' arc but he's a better man at the end of it and I'm deeply in love with him so there's that. Also something something Byronic.

American History X - Also deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as The Last of Us. The importance of an unflinching look at how a hardcore Neo Nazi climbs back to humanity--something that real people do every day--cannot be overstated.

AU:

Harry Potter - Not dissimilar to American History X, I've been fascinated by the idea of what a full, in depth, hard fought redemption arc for Lucius Malfoy would even look like. He gets juuuuust far along enough by the end of the series that the potential for an arc is there--his faith in Voldemort is broken and the only priority he acted on in the finale was trying to get his son out alive. For an extremist, neutral acts are huge. And if he happens to fall into my rarepair with Harry along the way, it only makes the character possibilities richer imo.

Stranger Things - Billy died too soon, and I will die on this motherfucking hill. He touches redemption and is then immediately killed??? But you left out the best part! Make him stick around to heal his relationship with Max, make amends with the people he's hurt, heal from his bigotry and internalized homophobia, get him and Max away from his physically and emotionally abusive father, backslide into asshole territory and fight his way back, etc! there was SO MUCH for him to do and it was a unique opportunity within a horror show! Goddammit.

The Untamed - Another hill I die on is that if Meng Yao had met Lan Xichen earlier in the timeline he could have been saved from his horrifying villainy. Though a more traditional 'Meng Yao lives and goes through the seemingly impossible process of healing his psyche with Xichen's help' is definitely appealing, my first instinct is the idea of early intervention. Sometimes this applies to Xue Yang too, but honestly I love his crazy ass just the way he's told.

There's definitely more than three AU arcs, but those are always the first three that come to mind because I'm the most Opinionated about them.

A general rule for me is the darker the character, the more interesting their redemption potential. There are plenty of exceptions that turn me off from the idea (I'm not at all interested in an AU that redeems Voldemort, for example) so it's not like I want to see every single villainous or dark grey character get a redemption arc, but a lot of my all-time favorite ships and characters involve some form of redemption.

Also I know there are more female characters that should be on this list but I legit can't remember them at the moment. I'm sure I'll remember like ten in the next day and a half after I post this. (Edit: AGATHA HARKNESS, FOR FUCK'S SAKE. I'M STILL ROOTING FOR HER.)

Also also, shout out to Avatar: The Last Airbender and She-Ra. They each had very well done redemptions that I really loved but never attached to in the same way as the ones listed. Probably has something to do with them being incredibly hyped before watching so I was both prepared for it and overly aware of How Good It Was Supposed To Be, which made the way their arcs stumbled a bit towards the end stick out more.

Favorite thing about her: the way she cares so deeply for people but is bad at showing it and has the most diabolical case of cuteness aggression I fear I've ever seen. She expresses her love for her friends through actions like protecting them.

Least favorite thing: How she only has like one episode (the flighttmare episode where shes trying to regain her famliys honor. off the top of my head) dedicated solely to her, and all her other development being linked to Hiccup in some way and how she's slowly just reduced to 'supportive gf' in the later movies.

Favorite line: "Our parents war is about to become ours! Figure out which side you're on." Because it just tells you so much about her character. She's essentially a child soldier, well they all are, but the others still goof off, yknow, like kids are supposed to?? Astrid allows herself 0 moments of weakness (respite) and puts everything before herself to ensure berks safety.

BrOTP: I already talked about her and Snotlout, so how about her and Fishlegs? Like they their moments of silliness in that one rtte ep where he helped her look for a betrothal gift and her helping him protect the dramillions. It shows they have such a bond you'd think would be kind of unlikely but then it's like. Never talked about again and it makes me mad bc they're such best friends :(

Looking back at ‘Before You Go’

Welcome to part 2 of my Narnia fanvid retrospectives which consist of me talking about a specific fanvid I’ve made and how I’ve interpreted the lyrics. This time, I’ll be talking about my second Caspeter fanvid, ‘Before You Go’, which I uploaded almost one and a half years ago now [original post].

Before I get into it, I just wanted to say that this one is especially for @an-angels-fury because she enjoyed my retrospective post for ‘Run To You’ and said that ‘Before You Go’ is her other favourite of my Caspeter fanvids. 😊

Okay, so this one actually has an interesting origin story and that’s because this fanvid was very close to being my first Caspeter fanvid and also very close to never happening at all.

Let me explain… 😊

When I first became obsessed with Caspeter, it wasn’t long till I decided to try making a fanvid about them. I started by going through my music and eventually narrowed it down to two songs. This one and ‘What Hurts the Most’. I liked both songs very much so it was quite possible that ‘Before You Go’ would have been the first one to be edited although I ultimately decided on ‘What Hurts the Most’.

As for why this fanvid was almost never made at all… well that’s because, at the time, I thought Narnia and Caspeter would go the way of many of my other recent fandoms up till that point. That I would do one fanvid, maybe two if I was lucky, but eventually either my interest in that fandom would wane or something new would come along to take its place as my latest obsession. So, I knew that by picking one song over the other, it was quite possible the second one might never have been made.

Well, we all know how that turned out. 🤣 Several more fanvids (and even fanfics) later, Caspeter and Narnia ended up becoming so important to me for various reasons (I’ve written more about this in another post if that’s of interest) which led to Caspeter becoming my OTP of OTPs. 🥰

Alright, now onto the lyrics. This fanvid is all from Caspian’s POV.

‘I fell by the wayside like everyone else’

I feel like there are a couple of ways this line can be looked at for Caspian. Firstly, it’s Caspian personally feeling like he doesn’t measure up to the High King from Narnia’s golden age. And secondly, that Caspian thinks that Peter sees him as less-than because of his Telmarine heritage. Also, I still really like the visuals I chose for this sequence… of Caspian deferring to the higher status of the Pevensies and hanging back as they enter the How for the first time.

‘I hate you, I hate you, I hate you, but I was just kidding myself’

Yep, Peter drives Caspian absolutely crazy in the beginning. Two young men with their own axes to grind and who are out to prove themselves. Caspian both hates how stubborn Peter is during the strategising at the How, but also can’t help seeing beyond that tough exterior that Peter puts up. Someone who is both more and less than what Caspian grew up hearing about in all those stories. Because Peter might not be all that he imagined in terms of the magnificent battle-hardened warrior (at least not at first glance) but he’s also more human and more beautiful and has more heart than Caspian ever could have imagined.

‘Our every moment, I start to replace, 'cause now that they're gone, all I hear are the words that I needed to say’

Despite the connection they share, their time together is over too soon. And once Peter is gone, Caspian can’t help regretting all the things he never told Peter while he had the chance. While I’ve had multiple versions of what Caspian might regret after Peter leaves Narnia in my head for different projects over the last year and a half, when I was editing this fanvid, I was very much imagining this to be that Caspian never told Peter that he loved him.

‘When you hurt under the surface, like troubled water running cold. Well, time can heal but this won't’

I think this was the line that first made me take notice of this song as a potential Caspeter fanvid. The way it reflects their regret over the loss of so many lives after the failed castle raid. It is something that will probably haunt both of them for the rest of their lives. And even though we had no closeup of Caspian’s face when they escape the courtyard, I was rather pleased that I was able to fake one by using a shot of Caspian from the start of the film which I still think works rather well. 😊

‘So, before you go, was there something I could've said to make your heart beat better? If only I'd have known you had a storm to weather’

Apart from his siblings—who Peter could never hope to hide anything from���I feel like Peter is the kind of person who’d keep his troubles close to his chest. So, for most of the time that Caspian and Peter would have known each other, there’s so much about Peter that would’ve been a mystery to Caspian. And at the top of that list would be the hardships Peter had faced as a result of being forced back into his old life after living in Narnia for so long. Constantly being underestimated by the adults in his life as well as being bullied and belittled by his peers.

‘So, before you go, was there something I could've said to make it all stop hurting? It kills me how your mind can make you feel so worthless’

There are definitely times when Peter feels worthless. But for the first instance of this line, I chose a moment where Peter feels like he’s worth less than others. And what better representation is there than the, “what about your own future?” deleted scene between Caspian and Peter. Caspian learns for the first time just how much Peter is willing to sacrifice for those he loves and for the greater good. Even his own life. That thought alone scares Caspian more than anything so he prompts Peter to think about his own future in the hopes that it will give him something else to fight for.

‘So, before you go, would we be better off by now, if I'd have let my walls come down? Maybe I guess we'll never know, you know, you know’

The moment when it all comes to an end. Caspian has just been crowned King and is looking forward to getting to know Peter away from the hardships of war. Just seeing where these feeling take them. But then Peter drops the bombshell that they’re leaving and Caspian can’t do a thing to stop it. All he has left now is regret. Regret over all those missed opportunities where he could have said how he felt but didn’t as well as wondering what could have been if he had. 😢 And I still rather love that sequence for, “I guess we'll never know, you know, you know,” where it looks like Peter is kicking himself for not being brave enough to say something to Caspian when they’d had a moment upon first entering Cornelius’ office. 😊

‘Before you go, was there something I could've said to make your heart beat better? If only I'd have known you had a storm to weather’

When Caspian finds Peter during his and Susan’s talk with Aslan, he can see that something isn’t right with Peter. He wants to help but how can he when he never knew the depths of what Peter, a king to a nation that had been home to him and his siblings for 15 years, had dealt with by being flung back into their own world against his wishes. A loss of self, of purpose and of feeling like he truly belonged.

‘So, before you go, was there something I could've said to make it all stop hurting? It kills me how your mind can make you feel so worthless’

And now we come to the second instance of this line where I focus on a moment when Peter feels worthless. Of course, no one is harder on Peter then Peter himself. As the High King, he has the weight of the world on his shoulders and he when he messes up, he feels the shame of it in every fibre of his being. After the failed castle raid, and the subsequent run-in with Jadis, Caspian starts to see a side of Peter that he never had before. The side that makes mistakes and, in his darkest moments, doubts his value. And that only makes him feel for Peter all the more and wish he knew the right things to say that would make Peter feel otherwise.

‘So, before you go’

And lastly the ending. What can I saw about the ending that hasn’t already been said. I mean, between Peter’s, “we’re not really needed here anymore,” and Caspian’s, “I will look after it until you return,” has there ever been a scene where two people who love each other have said so much and yet so little at the same time?? They were so close to having it all and now they’re being torn apart as Peter walks out of Caspian’s life, never to return. 😢

And on that note, I think I’ll leave it there. I’ve had so many feelings about these two over the last year and a half and, with yet more fic/vid ideas percolating in my mind, I don’t think that will be ending anytime soon. 😊

Hot take & kinda bitter pill: The main reason for the death of fandom is censorship within fandom. "This pairing is good and it's okay, but this pairing is bad and we will attack you if you ship the Wrong Pairing™ instead of the Right Pairing™".

And I have seen this many times with my own eyes. This is what people do. But what if fandom is just a fandom and pixels are just pixels? And someone is just here to HAVE FUN instead of the Morality™ Lessons? And maybe someone is even... mature enough to decide what they're like?

It's so funny to see when my posts are faved by people with "anti-proship" in their profile, because... wow, isn't my favourite OTP someone like you has claiming as proship, lol?

But not funny when you, say, look for some favourite content by relevant hashtag and see tons... of content you dislike and NOT RELEVANT, just because authors added all the hashtags for force-feeding. Thank you. But no. When I search for my favourite content on the special hashtag, I want to see my favourite content on the special hashtag. Is that a complicated concept?

Also not funny when you find the artist who draws such good stuff with your OTP and... discover that this artist has left the fandom because someone decided to be a "ship police" and attacked this artist. Thank you for that shit.

But please, can someone answer my question: why do you think your OTP is better than mine? And why do you think you can impose your opinion on me or anyone else? Are you the shining paladin in the white robe? Who do you think you are to judge us?

What can I say? Oh, I have so much to say, really. Maybe as a person who doesn't like the evil characters in the sugar syrup. Maybe as a person who makes a very clear distinction between reality and fantasy. Or, for that matter, as a person who has an opinion about common tropes in fandom and disagrees with them, based on my experience (has anyone here heard of the concept of interesting literature and why it is usually interesting? The smallest hint: it's interesting because it has realistic, well-drawn characters, even in fantasy). And for some reasons I know: even my relevant experience does not forbid to someone to have their own fantasies. And that is not even what I want to achieve.

Again. I'm not here to forbid anything, I'm here to say: leave us alone. Don't bother the creators, don't force-feed your creations to someone who doesn't share your vision.

Spoilers: NO ONE HAS TO BE LIKE YOU. People are... different? They love different things, and who are YOU to shame them? As long as it doesn't hurt anyone (really hurt!). But before you contradict me, I'll repeat: I have some personal opinions and some real background to contradict YOU. And I really don't want to start a holy war.

But why, a few months ago, I was talking to a person about the Valdemar headcanones, and they, in between, careful expressed their opinion about intersexual human!Valdemar (not AMAB, not AFAB!), to avoid conflict with others — who had never been in our conversation. WHY?! You call yourselves "an open and friendly community" and someone even friendly attacked creators like: "you can't ship Valdemar with %charactername%, they're aroace! How dare you erase the aroaces!!?" (sorry, I have problems with socialising, is that what friendly people do? *sarcasm*) and... what do I say? People with a slightly different opinion are trying to be careful! I see the artists who did NOTHING wrong, but were forced to leave the fandom. I see the artists who have been forced to publicly apologise for their art, or even delete their art. How dare you and who you are?

Don't tell anyone what to do with their fanart. Because I have seen it so many times and it is disgusting. Where someone tries to justify their headcanons like "it's ok, aroaces can be in relationships! (but only with my MC of course)", someone was forced to leave the fandom just because another someone saw themselves as the morality police.

And there were many REALLY GOOD ARTISTS. With beautiful art styles, interesting art, unusual headcanons. But all I see now... is what I see.

And I really need to say a lot more than I have. Many of these things come from my own experience (and, my fellow children, you couldn't even handle a person with a personality disorder, I guarantee it), you judge the practices you know nothing about (like BDSM), or you tell aroace creators what aroaces have to do. And if anyone should say that, it should be me. Why does the person with no empathy have more empathy than you? Why my only goal is not to forbid someone to create their M.C., even if I don't like the whole concept, but... idk. Maybe make someone think about it. Don't even defend another creators, because it's too late.

Fandom is dead because people are acting as moral police. But let's guess, what happens when I try to tell you something? What if I said: "Yes, aroaces can have a relationship with someone, but they will most likely behave differently than you imagine"? Who will be the first to accuse me of "YOU'RE FORBIDDING US TO DO WHAT WE WANT! IT'S JUST A FANTASY!"? Even if I tell you only from my own experience. Even if I repeat ten thousand times: "I can't forbid anything, my opinion is my opinion", someone will be mad about it. But it's me, the person who doesn't have the content of amazing artists because they LEAVE the fandom. Me, but not you. Because people take it too seriously or something. And why do you think it's a funny joke to leave comments like "oh, how dare you, Valdemar is mine!" or "Julian is mine, bitch, stay out!!1"? Should I bombard you with the same comments like "what a bitch with Valdemar, I don't like it, stay out!1!1"? Should it be funny? Will you laugh at it? And why don't I want to do it, even if something happens to me? Should I give a person a dose of their own medicine? Or will someone cry and not find such joke funny when it turn around?

So many questions and no answers. And for several years now I see it in the fandom. I'm tired. And I know why many people have left the fandom, and most of the time I see no content I like. But what do I see? People who don't like the content of Dorian. People who want something different and who have fucking standards that don't include attacking people who don't share their vision! People who have standards of writing quality, who want to improve their art, just to make favourite content for themselves! I see people who just want something interesting. But I see NOTHING but the original NixHydra routes, especially the first three. Or something rare, some pieces that miraculously survived. And I am not even talking about the attacks on the NH members. There's nothing special for their burnout. So, enjoy the Dorian.

Because if the fandom is sterile — this fandom is dead. Dixi.

Favorite thing: His mental illness, obviously. There’s so many things wrong with him that are also things that are wrong with me. He’s just like me fr (bad thing)

Least favorite: I’m gonna be so vulnerable right now but his outfit is so fugly. Like, he rocks it, but it is HELL to draw and I personally rank characters in my head by how fun they are to draw. I love him enough to try though.

Favorite line: I like it when he full on admits that the Tarnished terrifies him. We are very scary and he’s just a little guy. He knows the only thing keeping the Tarnished from murder is that they have a little crush on him lol.

brOTP: Rogier doesn’t have real friends, He only knows how to abandon people after he’s convinced himself that they hate him. However, I do see the relationship with the player Tarnished as the only platonic thing he’s got going on. They are buddies and he’s not used to that. He can’t leave this one behind because he physically cannot move, and that’s probably for the best tbh.

OTP: you know who I am.

nOTP: Honestly I don’t really have nOTPs. Rogier is slutty enough that you can throw him at anyone and it can work. I guess I’m not too privy on when people portray him and Fia with anything close to a healthy relationship, but that’s not the ship itself’s fault.

Random Headcanon: He’s so transgender you could never understand.

Unpopular opinion: Not unpopular within our particular circle, but with the community as a whole. He’s a pathetic little weasel of a man with sad eyes and undiagnosed mental disorders. I love him but therapy can’t fix him.

Favorite Line: I love how much a jokester he is once you join Gurranq. Like when he tells you to not let him starve to death is so funny to me. He trusts you enough to joke and that makes me emotional tbh.

brOTP: In my mind, he and Nepheli are actually really good buddies. They’re both adopted by not great dads and they value other’s lives above all else. Also they probably drink together.

I also struggle a lot with the actual sharing of my work if that makes sense - like I struggle to come up with summaries/teasers without spoiling the story, I stress a lot about properly identifying trigger warnings bc I don't know if there might be something I don't think is triggering but someone else does, I'm never quite sure how to properly tag things, etc. Tumblr is still somewhat of a mystery to me as well, but I'm trying!

i'm willing to write must things, so long as heavier topics are discussed ahead of time. i'm happy for our muses to fight, fuck, cheat, and live happily ever after! anything is fair game, within reason and when handled with care.

How large does the age gap have to be to make it uncomfortable?

considering the bulk of my muses are immortal, age gaps don't actually bother me, assuming everyone is over the age of eighteen and the dynamic isn't.. ab*sive?

i'm pretty willing to give any pairing a shot, with very few exceptions. i suppose i'm more selective in the sense that romantic shipping is rarely my number one priority so i sometimes have a tendency to favour platonic threads. but i will ship just about anyone and anything with the right hook!

usually if there are genitals involved, i'd consider that ns/fw.

diantha is easiest because its just captain/diantha and clarisse/diantha (this ship can work flipflopped too but like someone see the vision please understand LOOK AT THOSE GIRLS!!!!!!!)

ratio and screwllum next easiest b/c those two have not left my mind since they were introduced at their respective times and they should hold hands (ofc i like aventio too, but screwtio is my ride or die and also don't sleep on screwtioturine think about it pls i beg). i actually ship both of them very leniently (if that makes sense?), because i'm a multishipper and i love people holding hands, but these are very much the otps (special shoutout to argentio and screwllum/herta and screwllum/gepard though; those are also cute and the last one is the latest collected bestie rarepair and we thrive on it)

March 7th you can ship any person under the sun in hsr with her, but my favs are caelus or stelle, dan heng, and robin. stelle gets protag rights, but ofc exploring my fav men through her would be fun. yu takasaki with anyone in the club because also protag/past self insert origins rights, but setsuna, ayumu, and shizuku hold special places. kotohonoumi with kotonozo and kotori/minato (p3) honorable mentions. eiden/blade will always be my fav in nu carnival, but shoutout to edmond and yakumo as well. i do like tsukasa/wxs it's true (yes all of them each dynamic is cute), but i think tsukasa/shizuku or tsukasa/haruka has legs to stand on as well (hard working people with personality differences but very determined when striving towards their goals; shizuku has the added benefit of older sibling talks). though i also ship haruka/minori, and minori/kohane. nice nature/tokai teio is a classic to me.

not really, though on here i guess i don't seek it out as often because i'm not on here as often anymore! i'm a big fan of chemistry and usually only rping with friends anyways though, so we have to be cool with each other and think our lil dolls mesh well together before we can go and pursue more in a shipping on here sense.

i haven't written any of the teehee on here yet, but i'd say when it get's steamy is like...more than kissing. when you're describing grinding and kisses going places that are obviously to get a rise out of the other muse, or when clothes are being touched or played with or tightening in ways...then the nsfw tag and the read more are implemented. if it's just kisses though, they get steamy but not too much so.

yes absolutely!! i love communication, and if you think our muses mesh well together like that, please reach out about that and don't just assume~ though also i only really rp with friends so i only talk about it really with friends i've talked about it with numerous times before (waves at wars and serin and j even though you're not really here anymore). but still reach out if we ever rp for a bit and you have ideas~

i Liked Romantic relationships in the past but none of them having this much impact me as Jlaire, it's my Otp and def deserve their happy Ending.

Thanks so much for the questions, and I seriously apologize for my delay in answering! Answers for Tobias/Casey, Ethan/Kaycee, Trystan/Carolina, and Eli/Zoe are below! ❤️

How would they handle a breakup?

Tobias/Casey: They'd handle it terribly. They had one breakup shortly after they started dating for the first time. They were not together long at the time, and it was difficult. But if they were to break up after they genuinely fell in love, or worse, after they were married, it would have been excruciatingly painful. It would take a very long time for them to get over it or move on. I think if it was before they had children, Tobias would probably sign off on love and probably go back to his previous ways. Casey would want to move on, but it would take time, and I don't think she'd find that kind of love again.

Ethan/Kaycee: A breakup would be heartbreaking for them, as well, particularly for Ethan, since he didn't believe in love prior. If they were to break up, chances are, he'd give up on the concept altogether. Kaycee would likely need to get away. I don't see her staying in Boston; she'd need to go elsewhere and start over.

Trystan/Carolina: They are the newest couple of mine, so time-wise, it would be the least impactful of my OTPs. That said, their bond is very, very deep. If it was an amicable breakup, these two are the type that would be able to deescalate to becoming friends, though it would be difficult and take time. It might be very hard for them so see them with other people, however. If it was a bad break up, it would be difficult. Trystan would probably take it harder than Carolina, but Carolina would try to hide how much it really hurt.

Eli/Zoe: I think they're more likely to be eaten by zombies than break up. lol. Their world is so different than ours, and that would impact their reaction. If it was amicable, like "we're better off as friends", I think they'd both adjust pretty easily and end up being good friends. However, if it was a bad breakup - a betrayal, or where one was feeling it and the other is not, it would be more painful. However, if both stayed on at Olympus, they'd put that aside most of the time, because it would be necessary for survival

How would they react to someone flirting with them?

Tobias: This is probably a daily occurrence for him. lol The man is a natural flirter, and he doesn't even know he's doing it. It's just who he is. So unless it was something really overt that crossed major lines, he probably wouldn't even notice. lol Casey: Casey may not be as much of a flirt as her husband (I mean, most mere mortals aren't), but she is quite a flirt herself. She'd probably flirt back if it was mild, but if it was really too much, she'd put them in their place.

Ethan: He'd respond with sarcasm if he responded at all. lol Kaycee: She'd respond similarly to Casey but a little more mildly.

Trystan: Please see Tobias's answer. lol. Seriously - see Tobias's answer; it would be exactly the same. Carolina: When she was not attached, she would only flirt back if she was really interested - or could gain something (say, evidence lol) from it. But, if she wasn't interested (99% of the time), she'd probably stare blankly and then move on with her day. lol

Eli: It would take him a while to catch on to it unless it was very in-your-face, and then, most of the time, he'd by his typical stoic, sarcastic, even cold self. Even in canon, it took him a while to warm up to MC and flirt back when s/he was flirting away. Zoe: In my world, Zoe and Troy are BFFs for a reason, they're both fun and voracious flirts. Once she's with Eli, she has no real interest in flirting, so if someone flirts with her, she's probably not going to care too much, but she might do it back for fun.

Tobias: So, if it was mild, like some cute guy or girl is flirting with Casey, he'd probably eat it up. He'd be all, "That's right! She's hot. Shoot your shot, but you've got no chance, buddy! She's mine!" But if they overstepped, she rebuffed and then continued. Good luck to them. Casey: She's very similar to Tobias in how she'd respond, though if you get her on a bad day, she's going to get a little more pissy. She wouldn't be "jealous" because she trusts him, but she'd be happy to put them in their place. lol

Ethan: If it was mild, Ethan would probably sit back and stoically watch, thinking, "asshole." (<- Sorry, Tumblr won't let me fix it lol) He'd know they're about to get shut down, and it would be fun to watch. lol But he wouldn't appreciate it if someone went overboard with it. Kaycee: Since Casey & Kaycee are really almost the same at their core, my answer is typically "Like Casey, but more mild." Here is one place where I would say, "Like Casey, but more extreme." lol She would laugh off someone mildly flirting with Ethan, probably tease him mercilessly about it. But if they crossed a line? Good luck flirter. lol

Trystan: He'd probably flirt with Carolina concurrently with the flirter. Then, he'd probably flirt with the flirter, too. lol Carolina: She'd find it amusing. Probably want to sit back and watch it with popcorn. But, if it went too far, Trystan would end up getting all nervous and look to Carolina for a save. She'd smirk and be all, "You're on your own kid." lol

Eli: The person would likely get that death glare and be told, "Keep walking." He trusts Zoe, but he probably wouldn't be amused. Zoe: She'd probably find it amusing because watching this unfold could be amusing. Like a post-apocalyptic version of Carolina's response, only instead of watching her partner dig himself into a hole, she'd be watching her partner becoming more and more frazeld. lol
