Also, ‘my’ Vil is definitely the one that knows there are many different ways to be beautiful~. He may be a bit more blunt to his friends if he thinks they’re not quite hitting the usual mark their talents place them in. But that’s only because he cares about them, and wants everyone to see their best, as he does~. He’s an absolutely encouraging sweetheart to anyone else/a beginner at whatever their passion is, though~. And either way, he’s your best cheerleader~.

Of course he still just doesn’t feel himself without his magic, or ability to do potions. I don’t think he’d find the witchcraft in our world would suit him very well.

If he was really stuck for good, of course he’d make the best of it. But if he could go home, especially if you wanted to go back with him, he’d jump at the chance. And always be on the lookout for the chance.

But that being said, I think, aside from all the world’s problems, of course, he’d find it interesting just how similar, and vastly different, things are here.

He donates Ass Loads to so many charities, like honestly.

I imagine he and Jack would both lose the ears for human ones, and the tails, too. (😢💔) So he probably feels weird seeing himself like that, and might miss his tail. Especially if it helped him with balance. Give him some time to adjust to it~. There’s these neat new tails people made for cosplay, that can move around on their own, if he’d like one to help him not miss his old one so much~!

I had to really think about what the heck he’d even do for a job, cause he’s so grumpy to everyone, retail’s just OUT, lol. And I don’t think he’d be that great at something like youtube, either ajdhsjjd

It’s hard for him to not just lay around all lazy, rather than think of stuff to do for it/actually get up and go do it. Let alone all the meetings, and interacting with fans, and the like.

So maybe actually being one of the zookeepers would be a good fit for him~. He’d be obligated to actually go, and he’d get to be around lots of different animals~. Might help him feel more at home, too~. I think he’d be pretty good at it, and the animals would probably be drawn to him~ 💛

He’d also absolutely challenge the authority here (or anywhere else that has appalling governments, especially if they’re not run by women). The state of things, and the way women and minorities are treated by white men around the world, and men in general, would absolutely appall him. He so drunk on that respecc women juice, he just can’t wrap his head around what the hell the problem is with those rich assholes in power. Put him in power, and he’ll ruthlessly show them what-for! ALL the others behind him would be women! Good grief, humans!

All in all, he doesn’t mind it here, but would also prefer to be home, where he can sleep more, and Ruggie can run around for him most of the time, lol

He absolutely loooooooves going anywhere to see wolves. He’d probably really love the wooded mountains in Europe, if you ended up there, or in Oregon/Washington if you ended up here in America~. Definitely Canada, or Alaska, too~! Just give him huge trees, snowy winters, and nearby mountains, and he feels right at home~.

Idk if he’d miss his magic a whole heck of a lot, tbh?? But he WOULD miss his friends and family! It’s just not quite the same here, though he thinks it’s beautiful and interesting to see where you came from~. 🤍

He’s the ‘good’ kind, though. He’s learned his lesson since his overblot, and he won’t outright kill people for not paying him back, or introduce drugs, or anything like that.

He’ll help people obtain what they want as legally as possible... But that doesn’t mean he still won’t be sly as hell about it, haha~.

He’ll protect loyal/good customers and the areas they live in, too~. In fact, he’d probably reDUCE crime from doing so.

He just learns all the dirty ins and outs of everything about how things run here. And as much as he’ll fight for change as the others would, because there’s no way any of that is an acceptable way for you to live, he’ll work dirty in order to take advantage of the system, to do so. What better way, right? Make the dominos fall from the inside out.

He’s a good business man, he knows doing so would also benefit him, too.

And, of course, he adores being anywhere near the coast. Doesn’t matter what part of the world you’re in, he just needs to be by the sea.

All the polution absolutely breaks his sweet little heart, and that’s one of the first things on his list to fix. Dealing with trash back home was much easier... you could just zap it all away at big trash fields. But you don’t have that luxury here.

Being that he doesn’t really like his ocotpus form (bbyyyyyy 😢💔), he probably doesn’t mind the permanent legs. At least he doesn’t have to constantly take a potion to keep them, anymore.

But it’s still awkward to get used to. And he can’t stand that he can’t breathe underwater anymore, or go too far down without dying from the pressure.

He’ll dive as often as he can~. And loves to dive, or snorkle, or just swim~, with you, if you want to join him~.

He does miss his home, if only for the beauty and familiarity it had, despite a lot of bad memories around it. But there’s no doubt he’d thrive here, in a way only he could~.

He totally believes your own version of mermaids exists, and gets excited over anything that could prove it to be true 😅

Plus, he’s just obsessed with how marine life works here in general~. If he can juggle being a freakin maffia boss, and a marine biologist just out of the pure love for it, I have no doubt he’d do it~.

Humans most likely evolved from creatures in the water?? That’s amazing~! So the ocean feels like a distant memory of a second home~! He’d love to bond over that, the romantic~ 💜

alright  SO .  our  girl  natalie  was  born  on  april  13 ,  1952  to  michel  and  colette  beausoleil .  it  was  a  thursday ,  and  it  was  ALSO  eleven  weeks  before  colette’s  due  date ,  so  we  all  know  that  can’t  be  good 

( spoiler  alert :  it  wasn’t )

natalie  was  supposed  to  be  a  twin ,  but  the  other  baby  ( a  boy  named  pierre )  didn’t  survive .  they  didn’t  think  that  natalie  would ,  but  she did !  unfortunately ,  her  parents  were  too  wounded  by  the  loss  of  their  other  baby  and  it  was  all grieving  and  no  celebrating .  

also .  there’s  more  info  abt  her  parents  n  how  they  met  in  the  bio  but ,  a  sparknotes  version  is  that  michel  was  a  playwright  in  paris  and  colette  was  a  ballerina / his  muse  and  they  rushed  into  a  marriage 

michel  made  it  rly  big  a  couple  yrs  after  natalie  was  born  and  so  they  decided  to  use  that  $ $ $  to  send  natalie  away  to  an  expensive  boarding  school  in  london  called  our  lady  of  sacred  suffering .  it  was ,  of  course ,  a  catholic  girls  boarding  school  and  natalie  hated  it  there

but  they  hated  natalie  there  bc  she  was  just  the  WORST  catholic  school  girl  of  all  time ,  so  it  was  mutual

meanwhile ,  her  relationship  w  her  parents  is . .  very  complicated .  her  dad  is  just  kind  of  The  Worst  across  the  board ,  very  reliant  on  drinking ,  definitely  got  into  drug  use  at  some  point ,  had  lots  of  affairs  with  the  young  actresses  in  his  plays .  and  colette  was  just . .  very  sad  and  very  absent  so  the  support  was  Minimal

natalie  has  a  lot  of  issues  that  are  all  rooted  in  her  childhood  tbh .

somewhere  along  the  way ,  she  found  a  deep  passion  for  Writing  and  developed  this  sense  of  purpose  and  for  a  minute  things  were  going  very  well 

which  we  all  know  means  things  are  about  to  get  WORSE . 

on  her  eighteenth  birthday ,  natalie  receieves  a  card  in  the  mail  from  her  mother  for  the  First  Time  Ever .  and  she  immediately  is  like .  huh .  well .  something  is  Wrong .

she’s  right .

a  week  later ,  she  receives  word  that  her  parents  were  involved  in  a  serious  car  accident  at  the  pont  de  l’alma  tunnel  in  paris  and  her  did  not  survive  the  accident .

her  mother’s  family  is  not  convinced  that  michel  should  walk  away  from  this  without  blame  and  decides  to  take  legal  action  against  him  and  get  him  convicted  with  a  more  serious  charge  than  just  manslaughter . 

they  promise  to  keep  natalie  out  of  it  as  much  as  possible  but  when  it  comes  time  to  testify  as  to  whether  or  not  michel  had  a  history  of  not  caring  about  colette’s  life  and  well - being ,  the  only  one  who  can  speak  to  it  is  natalie .

so  she  testifies  and  it’s  her  testimony  that  is  the  metaphorical  nail  in  the  coffin .

michel  knows  it ,  too .  that’s  what  natalie  thinks .  he  turns  up  dead  in  his  jail  cell  the  day  before  he’s  supposed  to  be  sentenced .  she  never  knows  if  he  deserved  the  life  sentence  he  was  going  to  be  given .

so  then !  she’s  an  orphan !  but  she  does  gain  control  over  everything  that  her  parents  left  behind ,  which  turns  out  to  be  a  lot .  

she  sells  their  house  in  paris ,  goes  to  wales  to  begin  university ,  and  hasn’t  gone  back  since  then .  but  like ,  she  grew  up  in  london  for  the  most  part  so  she’s  not  exactly  sad  about  being  away  from  paris  and  all  the  ghosts  there .

and  now  she’s  at  sacred  heart ,  working  on  writing  her  debut  novel ,  which  is  the  ( albeit ,  dramatized  and  fictionalized )  story  of  her  parents !

so  basically ,  she’s  got  issues .

she’s  very  emotional  but  does  a  super  good  job  of  hiding  it  and  keeping  all  those  emotions  ( esp  the  intense  n  darker  ones )  buried  away . .  deep  down  where  no  one  could  see  it

the  minute  that  ppl  kind  of  ? ?  but  two  and  two  together  n  realize  who  she  is  ( bc . .  in  my  head . .  her  dad’s  whole  trial  was  kind  of .  A  Thing  that  the  public  knew  abt . )  they’re  probably  rly  concerned  w  Little  she  shows  any  real  emotion  to  the  whole  thing .

Scruff's Top 5 - Karaoke/Hickman wedding/Firehouse x2

This week was one of new experiences, self reflection, and humility. It's great when you open up a potential new avenue of revenue, testing it out might be a little nerve wrecking but when it all comes together the possibilities are endless. Looking in the mirror knowing that you have work to do to stay relevant is a hard pill to swallow, after you see the reflection what you decide to do from that point on is when the real journey begins. Playing at a certain location multiple times can be quite humbling, and yet at the same time empowering. When this starts to happen you tend to look at the original big picture, this is when the magical sparks start to fly. Thursday night I hosted the first S&E Karaoke night at The Lounge here in sheldon. The event was put on by the Young Professionals group of Sheldon, the organization is trying to fit in activities that appeal to adults between the ages20-40, trying to keep the town of sheldon thriving. The Lounge which is in the same building as Cook's Cafe and Langer's Bar and Grill donated the space to help bring the vision to life. Being that this was the first ever karaoke event I had to host I can admit that I was a little nervous. After setting up and testing things out, I was quite hopeful that we would have lots of fun and that this wouldn't be the last time that we would be hosting the event. The event started at 7 and right at the beginning we had a crowd gathering to sing and create a fun loving atmosphere or drinks and vocal folly. I was quite happy with this because that meant I wouldn't have to sing many songs to keep things rolling. I did kick the night off with my own rendition of The Backstreet Boy's classic I want it that way. Needless to say I was glad that was the only song you hear coming from lips that evening. I enjoy singing along to music, but putting a mic in my hand is very different. I have one of those solo voices, so low that only I can hear it; in the shower. Throughout the course of the night we had up to 25 people engaged in their favorites songs, ranging from classic country to 80's rap and some rock and roll. Whatever the track, you could tell that everyone was having fun. We only had a 2 hour slot for the first event, just in case no one had come out to party. I'm positive that this won't be the last time we do karaoke for the Young Professionals, I also think that we will be adding this to our wedding packages in the fur as well. After leaving The Lounge I made my way down to the Firehouse in Sioux City. The manager at the bar had been trying to get me to play on their Thirsty Thursday night for  awhile now. Since I took the night off of work for karaoke I was able to make it happen this week, I was excited to see how different the night was going to be compared to the weekends. Now usually when I play at the Firehouse it's top 40's open format style of play. This night was different though, I had people come out to the bar just because they knew I was playing and they wanted to hear house music. So for the first time in a long time I was able to play house hits for at least 80% of the night. I had the occasional request for the songs like The Git Up and the Cupid Shuffle so I had to switch things up for a little bit, but for the most part it was house all night long. House music is definitely my passion genre and I would love to play out some more, after listening to my set I realized that I needed to work on my house mixing. Yes, I have a radio show in which I only play electronic music but that's different than playing a house  set at a bar or club. It's time to hit the drawing board and work on the performance side of my craft. Once I get back to the level I need to be at I want to try and introduce a house themed night for the Firehouse. The owner is quite open to many different ideas and hopefully this is something that he would be on board with. It's quite humbling knowing that people came out just because they knew I was playing, it does stroke the ego just bit, but it also motivates me to be a better artist. I can't expect people to follow me, or come out to my shows if i'm not bringing the best sounds to ever hit their eardrums. It's time to grow and that just means more discipline, consistency, and practice. By spring I want to be able to look back at this post and know from my heart that I have done what it takes to play better, not just for the fans of the music, but most importantly for myself and the music culture. Friday I had the Vander Plaats/Hickman wedding in Sioux Center at the Terrace View Event Center. Walking in the building you felt the magic in the air. The design and decorations were straight out of a fairytale. The lobby had the photo shoot cozy feel with candles lit and a comfy couch in front of a backdrop of white balloons. A fountain of punch and pictures of Kari and Forrestal hanging on the wall. The main banquet room was spectacular, a back drop of low emitting lights setting the mood for an intimate meal, the head table set on a platform with a love seat for the newlyweds with a sign hanging above with their initials. Outside chairs set up for the wedding ceremony, it was really breathtaking. We started the night off in a non traditional way, we had dinner before making our way outside for the ceremony. Blue mountain catered the meal and that was very delicious, we had classic styled sodas to enjoy during the ceremony, and a full cake and doughnut bar for our dessert. After Some beautiful speeches by the maid of honor and best man we continued the evening with the special dances accompanied by slideshows with pictures highlighting both Kari and Forrestal individually, as well as together starting a new chapter in their lives. We danced the night away to hits from the all across the board. It was truly an honor to be a part of their special day, Kari was dressed in an elegant dress, Forrestal was decked out in a navy blue suit which accompanied his wife perfectly. Saturday night I made my way back to the Firehouse for an evening of shenanigans. The place was packed and I hit them hard right out the gate. We connected with tracks from the 90's such as Shoop, U can Do it, Fantastic Voayage, and Ghetto Superstar. I played some of the classics from the 2000's such as Yeah, Candy shop, Get Low, and Naughty Boy. The 2010's are a little harder to dance to but I got them going with the Git Down, Cupid Shuffle, Wobble, and of course hits from guys like Tyga, DaBaby, and Megan Thee Stallion. Sometimes I have to remember the songs that I play definitely affect the mood of the evening, I noticed the crowd getting a little rowdy when I played tracks such as Whoop that Trick, and Rep Yo City. At the same time when I had a request for some old school rock and roll things calmed down as I played Thunderstruck by ACDC. The remote was in my hand and I controlled the volume, overall we had a great time partying. The bar was full, the staff was happy, and the vibes were good. I call that a successful evening and the end to another week in music. Now all I have to do is record my radio show and get prepared for the next week.

"What's the matter, Commander?" Kiran asked after Anna made her stay behind following their latest meeting.

The red-haired Commander shifted her weight from one leg to the other, looking at the Summoner from head to toe. "You know, you've changed a lot in the past weeks; you don't even resemble the Kiran we first met."

That made the Summoner flash a shy smile and look down, awkwardly hiding a tuft of hair behind her ear. "Y-you think so? Thank you, Commander-"

Anna chewed the inside of her cheek. "I'll be straight with you -- I don't really care what's your relationship with the heroes, well, one particular hero, is as long as it doesn't affect your work."

Kiran froze in place, her eyes widening slightly. "U-um," it suddenly got hard to breathe, but she managed to lift her gaze to the Commander either way. "I-is my performance lacking in some manner, or-"

"..." Anna narrowed her eyes, staring at Kiran for a full three seconds before a wide smile quickly replaced her serious mien. "Nope! Actually, you've been thriving, Kiran! Whatever's been going on in your private life with Legaul- with uh, your significant other, I know for sure I'd like it to continue! It's making you positively radiant; and that's great not only for morale but for your own peace of mind as well!"

Not realizing she had been holding out air, Kiran breathed out in relief, her face reddening the more Anna went on with the compliments. She smiled to herself, bringing both hands to hide her cheeks as she remembered her beloved and their moments together.

It wasn't like she and Legault were trying to hide their relationship -- they just preferred to keep to themselves more often than not, so the Commander knowing of them wasn't that much of a surprise, though a surprise nevertheless.

For some reason, having her relationship with Legault somehow accepted made Kiran feel warm inside; warmer than she ever thought she would feel while thinking of relationships. She left the briefing room with a wide smile across her face, her cheeks still rosy with the memories of her beloved.

Walking to nowhere in particular (even though she still had to do her daily rounds), Kiran almost skipped.

"Oh, wow, someone's happy today! And it's been HOURS since breakfast!" A familiar voice sounded from somewhere in front of her, making Kiran tilt her head to the side only to find that she had walked into the central gardens. She looked at the man who approached her with his usual friendly smile.

"Oh, Stahl! Hi there!" She grinned back at him, her face reddening yet again. "D-does it really look like I'm that happy? Commander Anna just told me that..."

The Shepherd let out a bark of laugh. "Hah, you should look at your face! It's shining like the sun, and I don't mean that your skin is oily, by the way," he laughed, scratching the back of his neck. "Did that sleeping concoction I gave you work, after all?"

Kiran blinked, searching her memory for said potion. "Oh!" She placed one closed fist over her open palm. "I didn't even need it, can you believe it? Though the smell is really soothing, so I hope you don't mind if I hold on to it even though I'm not actually using it to sleep..."

"Pshaw, it's fine! I'm glad that you're feeling well despite me having nothing to do with it! And sure; the potion's yours, Kiran! I made it for you after noticing you had trouble sleeping, so keep it if you ever have insomnia again!"

"Thank you, Stahl. I'll treasure it." Kiran placed her hair behind her ear, bashful. Before she started seeing Legault, she never really noticed how many people (be it heroes or askrians) simply wanted what was best for her, without expecting anything in return.

Only after truly accepting that she was just another human being burdened by troubles and expectations whom simply needed someone to rely on did she notice that there were many others willing to lend her an ear or a shoulder to cry on -- many selfless heroes who wished to UNburden her rather than put more weight on her load.

And Kiran was only able to notice that after giving herself into her relationship with Legault -- he made her feel well enough to actually look at other people without fearing that they would require anything from her; to simply look at them as fellow people summoned from another world. Because of him, she was able to notice that she wasn't the only one feeling insecure; she wasn't the only one who was scared to even give a step forward lest it ended in her -- or, even worse, other people's -- demise.

Everyone in that army had their worries. Everyone had their circumstances.

There were kind heroes, shy heroes, awkward heroes, outgoing heroes... Selfless heroes, as well. Stahl was one of those, and Kiran was immensely grateful that he would take a few moments of his day to check up on her and ask her how she was doing. He wasn't the only one, mind, as there were many other of his countrymen who shared his sentiment -- Sully, Donnel, Virion (though he would always come with a very, say, interesting manner of speech that would actually made Kiran turn on her heel and leave rather than listen to him), Libra and Owain to name a few.

Actually, Kiran had been seeing a lot more of heroes lately. She was happy that that actually brought her solace rather than pressure, anxiety and guilt instead, so the more, the merrier!

"Helloo? Anybody home? You're staring at nothing with a big smile on your face, it's making me smile, too!" Stahl waved in front of Kiran's eyes, forcing her to blink so as to focus on him.

"Oh, um! Heehee, sorry about that, Stahl; I was just thinking how grateful I am that you always make sure to take some time to talk to me!"

The Shepherd blushed a little, scratching the back of his neck awkwardly. "Me? It's you who always checks up on me-- on all of us! I'M the grateful one to have even a little bit of your time, you know!"

Now it was Kiran's turn to feel bashful. "What? I'm not anyone special enough to be thanked just for having a small chat, Stahl!"

Stahl opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out. He gulped and tried again. "You're more special than you know, Kiran-"

"Annnd you're dead." A familiar voice sounded from behind Stahl, a shadow moving so fast Kiran could barely make it out before the wind soared, lifting the oh so dear hair.

"YIKES!" Stahl jumped one meter into the air before landing with both of his hands on his chest, "L-Legault! D-don't sneak up on me like that! I thought I had ACTUALLY died!" He breathed heavily, trying to calm himself down.

"Sorry about that; I just can't seem to walk up to people without sneaking 'round -- guess I've been an assassin for too long." The Hurricane replied nonchalantly, a smirk sprouting on his lips.

His eyes weren't smiling, however, as Kiran noted.

"Legault-" She reached out to him, but he simply glanced her way before looking back at Stahl.

"Your Commander or something is calling for his training regimen -- Frederick, is he called?"

Stahl barely got his breath back and groaned loudly. "Oh, gods, it's Frederick Fanatical Fitness Hour..."

"Heh," Legault lifted his chin, "good luck with that, then. S'ya."

Having said that, he simply exchanged glances with Kiran before disappearing again, making sure to only stay enough to see Stahl off.

The Summoner tilted her head to the side, her lips pouting slightly in confusion. "I wonder what that was about... I'll have to ask him the next time we're together." She shrugged, turning on her heel and leaving so as to start her daily rounds.

Stahl, on his hand, arrived at the usual site Frederick used for the lessons, but there was no one there. "Huh...?"

Somehow, the same thing kept happening throughout the day: Kiran would lose track of time talking to this or that hero and Legault would sprout out of nowhere to whisk them away from her with one excuse or the other.

For the heroes themselves, they were simply startled by Legault's sudden appearance; but for Kiran, it really looked like her lover had something bothering him since they barely spoke whenever he scared away the others.

"He was fine just yesterday..." Kiran put one hand under her chin in thought. Something sparked inside her brain. "Or was he? Now that I think about it, this last week a lot of 'unexpected' things kept happening with the heroes around me and Legault was always the one reporting them, though today broke a record... I wonder what's going on? I gotta find him so we can talk this out." She looked around, as though her lover could pop up just by the mention of his name, but no such thing happened. "Legault? Legaaault?" She tried, her voice above a whisper. "I'm not giving up." The Summoner lifted her coat's sleeves, ready to scavenge around for him.

She looked behind trees, columns, inside chests, rooms and even at the mess hall, hoping he would be sharing the afternoon meal with everyone for once -- he wasn't, of course. "Where could he b- woah!" Her shoulders sagging in defeat, Kiran was about to head into the northern garden, close to the hill she and Legault claimed as their own, when something, or rather, 'someone', yanked her arm. She didn't even need to look up to know whose chest she landed on. "Legault! I finally found you!"

"You're terrible at looking for people, you know?" He pressed his lips as though to hide a smile, his cheeks hinting a faint pink, as though he were embarrassed about something. "I wouldn't hide inside a barrel, alright?!"

"Well, I found Nina inside one last week, so who knows, right?" She giggled, resting her face in his chest, wrapping her arms around his waist. "Talk to me, okay? There's something worrying you."

By the spike of his heartbeat, Kiran could tell she was right on the money. But he wasn't about to disclose THAT information so easily.

"It's, uh, nothing. It's silly, actually." He rested his chin on her head, making it impossible for her to look up and see his expression. He then squeezed her in a needy hug, taking her breath away.

"It can't be 'nothing' and 'silly' at the same time, Legault. Please, talk to me? You've been listening to my worries all the time; the least I could do is listen to yours." She insisted. "Besides, I WANT to know so I can help you... I don't like to see you upset." The pout in her voice made Legault close his eyes just by imagining the cuteness, wanting to claim her as his own right there and then.

Something swirled inside his chest, mixing the possessiveness with the desire and the guilt. "I'm not very good with words and expressing myself, y'know that." His voice reverberated through his throat and chest towards Kiran, who slightly lifted her head, only able to see his jawline.

"That's fine, we have all the time in the world." She slipped out of the hug, taking his hand in hers." Let's go?" Kiran then tilted her head to their hill, a wholesome smile fitting perfectly on her face.

That only made Legault feel worse about the ugliness festering inside of him. "... Sure." He squeezed her hand ever so slightly, clutching his heart with the other.

They walked in silence until they reached the tree whose shadow welcomed them under it. Kiran sat down first, though Legault took a moment to follow, chewing the inside of his mouth uncomfortably.

Kiran didn't rush him; she didn't even speak, wanting to give him all the time he needed to sort out his thoughts. "Do you want to lie on my lap?" She patted her legs as though in an invitation.

Legault's eyebrows twitched in emotion, his hand reaching out to her before he could think -- he pulled her to him, stealing a deep and passionate kiss.

"Leg-mmmpph..." Surprised, Kiran moaned his name as he inserted his tongue into her mouth, making her roll her eyes in pleasure. She could feel that that wasn't an ordinary kiss -- that would lead SOMEWHERE. "W-we're outside..." She huffed once he trailed his kisses to her neck and cleavage.

"No one's gonna find us here." His voice was deep, serious and lustful, making Kiran feel all tingly inside. She allowed him to take her coat off before the wind tickled her skin, sort of waking her up from the trance of lust.

Hi I literally hate college so god damn fucking much but I can’t drop out because I need to get the degree if I want my parents to ever speak to me again. Any advice on how to make this entire experience less miserable

ok first of all im sorry for being an asshole and taking like nine years to respond to this ive just been busy and i wanted to give u a well thought out answer

i guess my answer would depend on why u dont like college- academic reasons, social reasons, or maybe just everything- so i’ll try to cover everything ? it makes me sad when i hear about people having a bad college experience, as mine has been so positive, but it’s important to remember that college is often idealized as being the best four years of your life- which, honestly, shouldn’t be true. that being said, college is truly not for everyone, and that’s ok. 

in terms of the social aspect, i think i’ve already answered some asks about people struggling socially in college, which i’ll try to find and link here (they might also come up if u search “college” on my blog ????? unsure). having a good group of friends can make or break your college experience, and idk what year u r but if you havent found ride-or-die friends like that yet, dont worry!! it’s all about making your campus smaller and putting yourself out there by joining clubs and going to events. it’s never too late to join a club. everyone around you wants to make more friends, too. im also adamant about going off campus and really connecting with your school’s surrounding area and carving out a space for yourself; it’s the smallest thing but it will make your experience so much better. if the issue is that you truly dont vibe with people on your campus even after joining clubs pertaining to your interests, you might want to consider transferring, if that’s an option for you. it might just be the college itself that doesnt mesh with you, and there might be one out there that does. ok also i found all the random asks ive answered ab college i think so here and here and here also here

academically, if youre a freshman/sophomore, take a few intro classes to majors you might be interested in. im a sophomore, and i cant even keep track of all the people i know who entered college pursuing one major, had a miserable first couple semesters, ended up changing majors after taking a random intro course to whatever to fulfill a core requirement, and are now thriving. personally, ive made my mental state go a little crazy because i am, first of all, indecisive as fuck- i didnt have a plan in terms of a major going into college and i always envied people who knew they wanted to be a doctor or whatever since second grade- and second of all, i have a fuckton of different interests. so, even when i decided on my majors, i went a little crazy (and still do) looking at other majors and wondering if i should do one of them instead. but it’s importance to have confidence in your decisions, unless it truly feels wrong.

finally, i know you probably dont want to hear this, but i would recommend talking to your parents if you truly dont foresee yourself ever enjoying college. going through four years of college hating it would not only take an emotional and mental toll on yourself, but also an economic toll on whoever is paying for it. it just might not be worth it. before talking to your parents, consider making a “plan” to present to them about productive things that you plan to do instead of college, whether that be starting a career, joining a volunteer corps, etc. you could also present it to them as a gap year- who knows, you could end up doing something that you actually enjoy and are successful at that you can do instead of going to college, or you might be surprised and end up feeling ready to return. i hope things start to look up for you, and im always here if you need someone to talk to.

1. Do you remember your first time watching or reading Fullmetal Alchemist? What was your first impression? I do remember! I was sitting on the couch playing a gameboy game while waiting for Inuyasha to come on (lol) and the first episode of FMA 03 started playing on adult swim. I kept looking up from my game to see what was happening cause it seemed pretty interesting. Since my attention was torn between the show and my game, I don’t really remember what my initial feelings were about it. My first impression was probably something like “huh, this is kinda cool.” Never could have imagined that it would go on to have such a HUGE impact on my life.

2. Tell us about The Fave™

/CRACKS KNUCKLES So if my icon and url and rambling tags that stretch on forever didn’t get the message across, my favorite character is Ling. Just about anyone who knows me here (or among my close friends irl) know how much I love Ling. He’s cute and funny and could easily be passed off as the goofy comic relief but he’s so much more than that.  He’s determined and loyal and he’ll do whatever it takes to claim the throne for himself. Not out of a desire for power simply to have it, but because that power is the key to securing a safe future for his clan. I just love and admire him so much, and I can only hope that some of his princely wisdom and compassion rub off on me u v u

3. Do you have a favorite fanwork? Fanfics? Comics? I have many faves! Just to name a few: - siruoa’s Emperor’s New Clothes amv which is beautifully animated with gorgeous art. A must see! - Nothing Gold; an EdLing fic that reads like a novel and crushes the heart like an anvil to the chest - The Roommate Agreement; a fic about Ling and Greed in a modern day setting with a bit of a supernatural twist - Blunt Force Trauma; a fic that plays out so vividly in the mind as you’re reading that it may as well be animated by BONES (oh, if only) GreedxDolcetto, DEFINITELY NOT FOR KIDDOS

4. Hit me with an analysis/opinion you have on the series or characters! I love the characters. All of them. While I have read that some find this to be a fault, I think that one of the absolute best things about FMA is the attention that every character receives. Every character gets a moment to shine. Even if they only show up for a couple chapters, they somehow manage to completely steal your heart. If even the side characters can be so lovable and such a delight to see, it’s no wonder that the main characters are so well developed and why they warrant such love and adoration from the fans. Hiromu Arakawa pulls this off beautifully.

5. Tell us about a project you have going on! Or if you don’t have one, maybe something you’ve always wanted to write or draw? I wouldn’t consider it so much a concrete, singular project. But I am always developing my own interpretation of Xing. It’s my baby. I have about twenty or so OC’s as a part of it- from the court officials to the royal wives to the citizens of Xing’s many provinces. I’ve written quite a bit about it with a dear friend of mine, but I feel that there’s always room for improvement! ‘ v ‘

6. Favorite opening/ending number and why? This is SO HARD. I can’t pick just one because I love them all for different reasons. So for now I’ll say my fave opening is Ready Steady Go. It takes me back to my early days in the FMA fandom and makes me so nostalgic. Fave ending number would be Motherland by Crystal Kay. I play it so much. It’s such a sweet, pretty song and I love the lyrics. (Plus the animation that goes with it is adorable! <3)

7. Tell me about a scene that really touched you or made you realize something about yourself. A scene that really touched me was the scene where Edward is in the Gate and he promises Alphonse that he’ll come back for him. You think that’s it’s going to be this cruel tease and that a glimpse is all the brothers get of one another but then Edward breaks through and calls out to Alphonse and GOD, the scene just ruins me.  Edward and Alphonse have such an amazing relationship and it’s so touching to see the brothers so devoted to one another.

8. OTPs! Who are they? Why are you WEAK FOR THEM? Edling’s got me WEAK. This pairing has a very special place in my heart because it’s a big part of how I actually met my best friend. But even on it’s own, Edward and Ling have a great relationship together. Even with just the friendship we see in the series, they come to care for one another greatly and there are just so many precious moments between them. Like Edward’s concern for Ling when Greed takes over his body, or the way he goes back for him when they’re stuck in Gluttony. They’re just a couple of dumb teenagers in love and I love it. GreedxLing is my damn aesthetic and I will never get enough of it. These two are so similar and yet so different and that’s what makes them mesh together so well. I always think about that scene during the attack on Central when they couldn’t tell if it was Ling or Greed in control because they were so in tune with one another. These two learn a lot from one another and seeing their relationship play out with each other gets me every time ;   ;

9. Funniest headcanon you’ve ever seen. Go! Trust exercises at Fort Briggs involving Captain Buccaneer trust falling onto soldiers half his size I’ll leave the results to your own imagination

10. What spurred you to join the fandom? I dunno if there was a particular moment where I “joined”, per se?? I’ve been around since ye olden days of quizilla and lemons and the FMA Banana Phone amv.

11. Have a fandom meltdown here and tell me why you love your fandom or show/comic so much! BOY, I HAVE SO MANY FEELINGS I’ve been a fan of this series for so long. (To the point where I hardly remember who I was as a person before it???) It’s become practically synonymous with my identity in that everyone who knows me knows how much I love it. It’s so much more than “my favorite anime.” It’s what has been at my side growing up, my support in times of strife, and my biggest inspiration. I can say with absolute certainty that it has helped shape me into the person I am today, and that I am able to thank it for all the amazing friends I’ve made and the amazing experiences I’ve enjoyed throughout my life.  I truly don’t know where I’d be without FMA and I’m so glad that I still have the lovely people still participating in this fandom to interact with on a daily basis. I feel so blessed to be a part of this miraculously thriving community.

Midlife can sometimes feel like a time where nothing new happens and everything bad happens all at once. Your job can start to feel mundane and boring and yet your family life can be changing drastically (or vice versa). So today I am bringing you an A-Z list of words to describe the way things SHOULD be in midlife. If you’re reading through this list and any of these words don’t mesh with where you are in life, maybe it’s time to try something new. Read through this alphabet and let me know which word resonates with you the most.

Authentic

As we grow older, we often find ourselves thinking, “I can’t do that”. We think this way solely because of our past experiences and this sometimes causes us to act in a certain way for your family or your boss or your friends. Instead of hiding your true self, choose to be authentic by, first, rediscovering who you truly are and, second, showing the world the incredibly unique person that you are.

Bold

If you are being authentic, then you should also be bold. Don’t be afraid to show the world who you are and what you can do. Boldly show the world that you have yet to do what you came here to do!

It is important to be determined to reach your goals. After all, you have yet to do what you came to this world to do. Think about what goals you have. Have you been actively working towards achieving them? Or do you find yourself thinking, “one day”, “once the kids are out of the house”, or “after I retire”? I challenge you to commit to a goal and be determined to reach it.

When was the last time you were truly enthusiastic about something? Is there something that you strongly believe in? When was the last time you shared that enthusiasm with others? The more we grow, the more we tend to keep our eyes focused on the past. We remember what we know to be true from the past. But we must also remember to keep an eye on the future. The best is still yet to come, and if we keep our eyes on the past, we just might miss it.

Who has time to pretend to be what others want you to be? And, honestly, isn’t it better to be genuine anyway? When you are genuine, you pull others towards you.

Hopeful

They say hope springs eternal. Well, I don’t know about you, but sometimes my spring seems to dry up. We need to remember to always stay hopeful. With each setback, we need to remember that we have these setbacks for a reason and that we will still achieve our dreams.

Inspiring

We have the power to inspire others. We can inspire our co-workers, our family, our friends. The first step towards inspiring others is to be inspiring. Take on life wholeheartedly and never give up. You will achieve whatever you put your mind to and that is the most inspiring thing of all.

Joyful

Don’t let life get you down; and when it does get you down, don’t let it keep you down. There are hundreds of moments each day that can make us joyful – just as long as we choose to notice them. From the beauty of a sunset to the smile of a loved one, we have so many reasons to be joyful each and every day. No matter how many things may seem to be going wrong in your day, remember to pause and appreciate even the small moments that bring us joy.

Knowledgeable

You have your own, unique set of gifts and talents that you have accumulated throughout your life. Some of these talents you have chosen to learn and others were forced upon you, but, regardless of how you learned these different skills, you now have this knowledge. Never forget that no one has the same accumulation of knowledge as you do – your unique experiences have made you valuable in a way that no one else is.

It doesn’t matter what makes you lighthearted and playful – just remember to take some time to play from time to time. Life is too short to be serious.

Meaningful

You have yet to do what you came to this world to do…and you are here to do something meaningful. Think about it. If each and every person on this earth decided to do one truly meaningful thing with their life, how much better would this world be? What are you passionate about? What have you been holding off on doing because you don’t quite believe you can achieve it? Your life is meaningful, and your legacy should be as well.

Noble

Everyone wants to be considered noble, after all, who wouldn’t want to be considered moral and good? But, being noble doesn’t mean you are more moral or better than those who surround you. As Earnest Hemingway said, “there is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow men. True nobility lies in being superior to your former self.”

Outgoing

We each have our own voice, sometimes we just need to remember to use it. Be outgoing. Be friendly. Be candid. The more you share your true self with others, the happier you will find yourself.

Passionate

This is one that I have held strong beliefs about for as long as I can remember. It is so important for you to be passionate about something. Anything really. I don’t care if you are passionate about feeding monkeys at the zoo – just be passionate! When your life is full of passion, it is full of meaning.

Quirky

I’ve always considered being called quirky a compliment. Quirky is defined as having unexpected traits and I feel that those unexpected traits are often the most powerful. Take a moment to think about what makes you quirky and you’ll  often realize that those traits are also the traits that make you the most unique.

Radical

Being radical is defined as “affecting the fundamental nature of something”. I feel that when we live our (mid)life to the fullest and prove that our best is yet to come, we are affecting the fundamental beliefs about aging. We are not destined to slow down and get boring as we age and I believe that viewpoint is still relatively radical. By living each and every day of our lives to the fullest, I believe we are all being radical.

Spirited

Being spirited is an important aspect of midlife (and life in general). When we live our lives being as full of enthusiasm, determination, and energy we are truly living life to it’s fullest.

Thriving

We are meant to not only survive but to thrive. So many of us just survive in our current situations while waiting for something better. Instead, decide to thrive. What does it mean to you to thrive? Now take the first step towards that.

To thrive in your midlife, you must first decide to plan for the future instead of dwelling on the past.

People who are winning life aren’t just improving their own life, they are also uplifting others. It has been proven that the more you uplift others, the happier you will be as well. People who give to charity and/or volunteer are over 40% more likely to be happy than those who don’t. This statistic holds true for those who express gratitude and help others as well. So do what you can to be happy and remember to uplift others.

Be vibrant. Shine for the world to see.

  Wild

Be a little wild sometimes. Being the responsible one can get boring, and as we age we are often forced to be responsible more and more often. Not that being responsible is a bad thing, it is actually very important. But sometimes it is equally as important to be a little wild and let your crazy side show. Plan a night out and decide to be a little wild.

Xenodochial

I admit it took a little digging to find this one. Xenodochial (pronounced zeena-doh-key-ul) means to be hospitable. Making others feel at home is truly an art. When you can make your friends, family, and even strangers feel as if they truly belong, you are making the world a better place.

Young-at-Heart

I’m always hesitant when it comes to saying two words and those words are “young” and “old”. These definitions are becoming so circumstantial that I cringe when using them. But at the same time, let’s be honest, we are getting older. I believe being young-at-heart is part of what keeps us young even as we age. Remembering to embrace life through the eyes of the young helps us live life to the fullest. Becoming set in our ways helps no one.

Zealous

Finally, be zealous. Live your life with zeal and passion and it is almost guaranteed that your best is yet to come. You have so much life to live, now go out there and act like it!

Britney Spears was the hottest thing in the world for a long, long time. If you’d like us to be more specific, Britney Spears was the hottest thing in the world from 1999 – 2006. Her debut album …Baby One More Time became the best selling album from any teenager ever. Have you seen her music videos? Girlfriend may not have the best voice, but her music videos are legendary. Britney in a schoolgirl outfit? Britney in a red latex catsuit? Yep, we’re sold. Her world tours were crushin’ it. She performed during the Super Bowl Halftime show. She was on magazine covers. She earned Grammy nominations. She dated Justin Timberlake. She kissed Madonna at the VMAs. She was It. Then, 2007 happened. If you Google “Britney Spears 2007,” you’ll know exactly what we’re talking about. It was a year that included Bald Britney and her trusty umbrella. Many people didn’t think there was any coming back from that, but Britney came back. She now has a wildly popular residency in Las Vegas that is reportedly earning her $475,000 a show. She managed to not shave her head, get arrested, or get married in the past few years. It seems that Britney is back. However, she can never truly be back. Her breakdown is something that taints her image, no matter how much effort she puts into rehabbing it. Yes, she looks great and performs with the same fire she once had, but we can all still recall Bald Brit with her umbrella. Prior to 2007, Britney was on top of the world and there were no bat-shit crazy photos to blemish her image. She was truly perfect. That was when Britney was in her prime. Here are 18 photos to remind you just how on top of the world ol’ Britney was at such a young age.

#1 Wearing A Very Practical Metal Shirt This shirt is not practical in any regard. In fact, we’re betting that a chain mail shirt is pretty uncomfortable and quite chilly. Also, the fact that it’s only being held together by two delicate chains means Britney can’t do much in it. A slight breeze passes and Brit could be showing much more than she wanted. Practicality aside, this photo is vintage Britney. Between the purple eye shadow and glossy lips, she is reminding us just ridiculous some of her looks were… but she still looked perfect. She actually thrives in these early 2000s styles. Oh, and her body is amazing. We’re pretty sure that belly piercings surged 200% from Brit flaunting her always-taut stomach, and belly button ring. Unfortunately, getting a belly button ring doesn’t automatically make you as hot as Britney. There is only one Britney.

#2 As A Gladiator With A Belly Ring Back in 2001, Britney struck an endorsement deal with Pepsi for a whooping $8 million. Considering how iconic the Britney/Pepsi advertisements were, $8 million was actually a steal. While they worked several different marketing spins, the most memorable is Gladiator Britney. How could you forget this commercial? Some people (totally me) would watch TV just hoping this commercial came on. In it, Britney, Beyonce, and Pink come into a gladiator dome and sing “We Will Rock You.” This is all while drinking Pepsi, of course. A mandate for casting must have been something like, “Singer with abs of steel.” All of these ladies have washboard stomachs. While Britney rocked her sexy-Gladiator look, our favorite part is that she’s still wearing her belly button ring. You can take Brit out of 2001, but you can’t take the belly ring out of Brit.

#3 Britney Spears, Sweet As Pie When Britney Spears first hit the scene, she really milked the wholesome thing. In fact, the “…Baby One More Time” music video was originally supposed to be cartoonish to appeal to a young audience, but Britney had a better idea. She pitched her own concept of it being at a school with lots of dancing. They obviously went for this idea, since it is now what we know as the iconic video. Hold on, Britney is even more genius. Upon looking at the wardrobe, which was a t-shirt and jeans, she then pitched the schoolgirl idea. Again, they went for it. It gets better. She thought the uniforms were too dorky and suggested everyone tie up their shirts. Basically, Britney was the mastermind behind the whole music video, which launched her entire career and brand. People often underestimate Britney, but girlfriend is in tune with what to give the public. This photo is from a shoot with Timothy White in 1999. She’s obviously still milking the sweet as apple pie thing, which was always part of her appeal. Britney was always both the girl next door and, uh, the type of girl who dances with a snake around her neck.

#4 That Rolling Stone Cover In 1999, Britney graced the cover of Rolling Stone for the first time. It would become an iconic photoshoot, both for her and Rolling Stone. This particular photoshoot really encapsulated what was so interesting about Britney. She was 18 years old and somewhere between being a girl and a woman – y’know, as she would sing about later. The cover photo (above) showed the teenage Britney in her underwear while holding both a telephone and a Teletubby. It is rubbing both her sexuality and innocence in your face. It was about this time that the American Family Association condemned Britney. They said that the photoshoot was disturbing because of the way it mixed young innocence and adult sexuality. Uh, that was kind of the point, guys. The AFA urged people to boycott Queen Brit. Obviously, the AFA didn’t make that much of a dent on her career.

#5 That Other Rolling Stones Cover Britney Spears went on to grace the cover of Rolling Stone several times. She’s worn a t-shirt and jeans on the cover, a bra and jeans, an American flag shirt and red leather pants. She also wore just underwear and what seemed like a bed sheet. In 2003, she graced the cover in the above photo, which really, really showed off the curves of her body. 2003 was way past the days of her youth. She had already publicly broken up with Justin, supposedly for cheating on him with a back-up dancer. Britney was no longer the girl in a school uniform. She was a woman. That year also saw the release of her 4th studio album, In The Zone. This album would produce four singles: “Me Against the Music,” “Toxic,” “Everytime,” and “Outrageous.” While everyone remembers Britney’s “Toxic” video (how could you not?), it was her “Everytime” video that really had critics talking. In it, Britney plays a star, who suffers under the stress of the media, dies, and is resurrected into a baby who was born at the hospital. It was oddly prolific considering how Britney would soon struggle under the weight of stardom.

#6 No One Has Ever Looked As Good In A Green Bikini You don’t see many green bikinis. Green can be a difficult color to pull off, especially in bikini form. Britney’s always-tanned bod and honey blonde hair makes it easy for her to look good in just about any color. Seriously, she can wear anything from a red latex catsuit to this green bikini. It also helps that her body is perfectly sculpted. This picture is included because it is, again, vintage Britney. While she is flaunting her amazing body, her face is anything but sultry. She is wearing minimum makeup and has the wind blowing through her hair. Her mega-watt smile isn’t seducing anyone. It more looks like a carefree smile of someone about to jump into a lake. Yet, she’s still seducing anyone who looks at this photo. It’s this duality that made Britney a star. Oh, also she’s rocking her belly ring because duh.

#7 Classic Britney With Crimped Hair Britney with the crimped hair was everything. She somehow pulled off crimped hair, even though no one pulls off crimped hair. This resulted in a ton of people copying her style – think of her herds of young girls who crimped their hair in the early 2000s. Little did those young girls know that Britney with crimped hair is much different than the rest of the world with crimped hair. She rocked crimped hair at awards shows, photoshoots, and in music videos. This photo is a great example of Brit rocking something that would look good on no one else. If you ever saw a girl in real life with half-curled and half-crimped hair, you’d just think she looks… well, she wouldn’t look like Britney. That’s for sure. For whatever reason, Britney looks hot. It also helps that she’s wearing a tiny jean skirt and midriff-bearing tank. Also, I spy a belly ring.

#8 No Biggie, Just Chillin’ In A Field Of Flowers This photo may be the height of Britney doing the wholesome thing. She’s just chillin’ in a field of flowers. She looks just about as youthful and innocent as anyone can possibly look. See? This was her appeal. You’d see this photoshoot, but then you’d also see Britney shimmying in a schoolgirl outfit. It was all so confusing, and all so hot. The issue with this specific appeal is that it’s difficult for someone to keep up long-term. Britney Spears is now 35 years old. She can’t do that sweet, small town girl thing anymore. We all know Britney has been through some shit. In a genius way, Britney does dip into a mature wholesome angle through her social media posts. On her Instagram, she posts photos of her family, photos of goofy selfies, motivational quotes. Britney will even post pictures of goddamn kittens on Instagram just ’cause she thinks they’re cute. It’s a new version of her wholesomeness, as she can’t play the wide-eyed young thing anymore.

#9 That Performance With A Snake We couldn’t not include this photo for several reasons. First of all, look at her. The “I’m a Slave 4 U” period was when Britney’s abs were at the top of their game. We know, we know. Girlfriend always had abs. That’s true, but at this point in her career, she was cut. There is barely any fat on her entire body. This particular performance was at the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards. We could focus on how hot she is, because duh. Instead, let’s talk about what a performer she is. Girlfriend went on live television with an albino python on her shoulders. I probably wouldn’t put an albino python on my shoulders… like ever, especially not on live television. Britney is a badass, who is willing to do anything to give fans a show. This is why she has endured as one of the most successful singers of all time.

#10 The “I’m A Slave 4 U” Music Video Britney’s performance with the snake outshined the “I’m a Slave 4 U” music video. I mean, she was carrying a snake around on live TV. There was obviously a ton of buzz around that. However, the music video is not to be overlooked. Britney pumped out several iconic music videos in her time, but this may be the sexiest of all her videos. First, there’s her body. Like we said, this was the top of her ab game. There is also the fact that everyone is dripping in sweat in the video. It looks like a hot yoga studio. If you think about it too much, it’s not actually very sexy with all the sweat, but at face value it’s hot. The sweat was apparently tasty too, since someone straight up licks Britney’s face in the video. Lastly, sweaty Brit was wearing her underwear outside of her pants. That may not have been all that practical, but she was sex on a stick. If you had to show an alien one music video to describe what “sexy” is, it would be this video.

#11 Can We Talk About Her Necklace? This picture has so much Britney going on, it’s amazing. First of all, her half-crimped hair again – YES! We don’t know who kept telling her to rock this hairstyle, but we’re so happy about it. Also, we have no idea what her shirt is doing. It’s pink and see-through. In fact, you can see her bra though it. We’re not even sure why she’s wearing a shirt. Half the time, she’d be in bikini top, so what’s up with the see-through shirt? We don’t know. Okay, moving on. We’re super into whatever denim she’s rocking below. It looks like it’s folded down, so it may be shorts, a skirt, or jeans. We have no idea. Does it matter? Nah, not really. She still looks hot. Finally, we have her famous belly ring. It may be the most famous belly ring in all of history. No, seriously. Has anyone ever rocked a belly ring more? We don’t think so. Oh, and the lips necklace! What is that! It’s so bad and so Britney. We love it.

#12 Covered In Toilet Paper… And Still Hot What is this picture? We don’t know. There are the two things making Britney almost unrecognizable – her head is turned. We know it’s Brit (in 2016), but we are only getting the side profile. The second thing is the lack of the belly ring. Where is her famous belly ring? Was she like, ‘Oh, I’m mature now. I better take my belly ring out, even though I’ve been photographed with it in for, like, a decade’? We don’t know her thought process and we’re slightly disappointed that she doesn’t have her belly ring in. It’s the hottest stomach piercing in history. Moving beyond that, her body still looks phenomenal. Like, absolutely amazing. As good as in her prime. However, who the hell styled her? Why is she wearing a bunch of fabric wrapped around her body? She looks like a girl who wrapped toilet paper around herself so she could be a mummy for Halloween. She’s so hot that she still looks good with fabric dripping off of her body.

#13 A Very Cropped Crop Top Alright, this might be the hottest Brit. This was after she shed her good girl image. She didn’t go full-on X-Tina, aka Christina Aguilera circa Dirrty. Also, have we ever uncovered the mystery as to why X-Tina spelled “dirty” as “dirrty”? Why the extra R? The X-Tina era was a drastic change. What was so fascinating about Britney was that she shifted into womanhood all while still being Britney. Much of her brand was still the same, but she has just shaken free of the schoolgirl we were introduced to in 1999. If any picture shows Britney fully indulging in her sultry, southern side, it’s this photo. She’s wearing the most cropped crop top of all time. She’s still sporting her signature tanned skin, blonde hair, and tight stomach. Oh, and of course – her belly ring! Yas, queen of belly piercings. We love it. Her denim shorts are super short and unbuttoned. We get it, Brit. You’re sexy. Your necklace is longer than your shirt. You’re a woman now.

#14 When Britney Won The Super Bowl There was nothing better than Britney in 2001. Between her Pepsi deal, her hit albums, and the fact that she was the hottest thing in the world, Britney had it all in 2001. All included the Super Bowl Halftime Show. Of course, Aerosmith and N Sync were the headline performers. But, for the finale, Britney, Mary J. Blige, and Nelly joined them to perform “Walk This Way”. Some of the performers she shared the stage with are legendary, but look at her abs! This was 100% Britney. She had random braids in her hair, a cut up shirt and shiny NFL pants on. OH, and she also rocked a random sock on her one forearm. It was weird, but Brit pulled it off. The best part was that this was while Britney and Justin were dating. If you watch the performance, she even smiles every time he sings. Was there ever a cuter couple? Also, belly ring!

#15 The Most Epic Jumpsuit Of All Time We’d love to post the entire “Oops!… I Did It Again” video, because it was epic. Britney. In a red latex catsuit. Say no more. She also rocked a white, cropped turtleneck outfit too, which was totally hot. No one remembers the white turtleneck number, though, because the red catsuit was everything. Apparently, the catsuit was Britney’s idea. See? We told you that she had a sixth sense about what would hit. Per Brit’s orders, the costume designer had to stay up all night to make her catsuit. Uh, thank heavens they did, because it will go down in pop culture history. This video was also at the edge of her wholesome image. With lyrics in this song like “Oops! You think I’m in love/That I’m sent from above/I’m not that innocent” Britney was both indulging her audience in sweetness but easing us into her sexy transition.

#16 Whoopsies, Forgot To Button Her Sweater Here is Britney Spears looking hot as hell. Slightly past her wide-eyed, innocent phase, she was embracing the sultry side, all while wearing a cardigan. Of course, she forgot to button her cardigan, whoopsies! Her shorts (or skirt?) was the shortest thing in the world. She could have been wearing underwear. Her body was flawless. And, you know what we’re totally going to point out right now, right? Her belly button ring! Always and forever. Forget The Beatles. The best group in history is Britney, her abs, and her belly ring. Also, here is a prime example of how Brit mixes the sweet and sexy today. Does she have the pipes that some of the other greatest pop stars have had? No, not by a long shot. But try, just try, to take your eyes off the screen as Britney performs. She is entertainment at it’s finest. Also, can we talk about how genius Britney was? She used this performance to rebrand herself. Before this, she was the schoolgirl from “…Baby One More Time.” She was bubble gum. She was southern sweetness. She was apple pie with a belly ring. This was her saying, “I’m a woman and I’m sexy.” She was done with being seen as the good, little girl. Using a VMA performance to rebrand would be a move that Miley Cyrus stole from Brit. Why did Miley follow in Brit’s footsteps? Because it friggin’ worked. No one thought Britney was a sweet, young girl after watching this performance. She was powerful, sexy, commanded the stage, and owned everything she touched.

#18 Sugar And Spice, Naughty And Nice We’ll finish with this photo, taken before her 2000 VMA performance. It’s the most perfect example of the Britney paradox. It’s both innocent and remarkably sexy. She is wearing a pink tee shirt that’s tied up. With the addition of her black, leather pants and tight stomach, she’s walking sex. However, her face is fresh and happy. She isn’t batting her eyes at the camera. She’s smiling like it’s the goddamn prom. This is what Britney Spears tapped into in a way that no one will ever be able to tap into again. It was a different America. It was an America that was reeling from the Bill Clinton/Monica Lewinsky affair. Sex was not being served up in such a blunt way, especially by a teenage girl. Then came Britney Spears. Since Britney, we’ve had different versions of pop stars. Taylor Swift taps into the wholesome aspect, but fails to be even a teardrop as sexy. Lady Gaga can do theatrics like Britney, but nothing about Gaga is ever wholesome. Katy Perry is sexy and rocks bubblegum pop tunes, but taps into a pin-up vibe instead of innocence. This mixture of sexy and sweet is what made Britney so desirable and entertaining in her prime. While we still love Britney, nothing will ever top Britney in her prime. It was truly lightning in a bottle.
