is one of my favorite activities.

I love what you write so much. My favorites are Dickie bird and Jay bird.

Don’t know whether this is fun or fluff as you’d wanted it (kinda went on a personal rant in Jason’s a little bit but I don’t regret it) but I still hope you enjoy it not the less. Also thank you for enjoying my Jason/ Dick stuff! 🫶🦦🐿️

Dick:

You go in for certain things that you need and come out with way more then you probably should. (And most of it isn’t what you actually needed)

Half of the stuff you get is mainly what Dick thinks Hayley might like and she ends up only liking 50% of it…the ‘daddy’s little girl’ doggy shirt was pushing it tbh.

Dick tends to wander off when your shopping together that when you went to ask him a question, only to notice that he was gone, you sigh and say;

‘Dick?’

A few isles over you heard a faint ‘yes honey?’

He was in the pet section. again.

You’d have to remind him that you were only there for specific things and nothing else, but Dick would always try to persuade you into allowing him to get something was wasn’t on the list at all, by battering his eyelids at you and saying ‘pretty please.’

You naturally can’t say no to you pretty boy who acts like a man child when shopping, especially if you’re the one who’s paying.

The shopping list you made might as well have been thrown in the bin with how often you come home, only to be reminded that you barely got 25% of the stuff on the shopping list thanks to Dick’s impulsiveness.

However Dick would only use this as an excuse to go shopping again later on in the week/month and do it all over again without remorse.

Also Dick is way too polite to tell people blocking the isle to move, he wants to, he really does but all he does is breathe in deeply and plaster on a smile before soldering on.

Jason:

Grocery shopping wasn’t a favourite of Jason’s but if he were to do it, he’d rather do it with you because he got to be a little goofy with it.

And by that I mean him getting a little affectionate and pinching your backside and you snacking his bicep and scolding him for being inappropriate in the frozen food section.

‘I’m not doing anything chipmunk.’ He’d defend himself as you glare him.

‘I’m sure as shit there isn’t a perverted ghost here that pinches people’s backsides for fun. Now pack it in.’ You hissed as you rubbed your ass in hopes of soothing the sharp pain you felt seconds ago.

‘Sorry sweetheart.’ He’d chuckle as he kisses your cheek in apology.

You couldn’t help but smile as you could never truly stay mad at your sweet Jason, not unless he was staining your carpets with blood from a night out on patrol, but that was neither here nor there.

Other than that Jason would take the trolley from your hand and storm the store with a determination to get the fuck out as fast as possible.

His long ass strides tend to leave you behind in some random isle somewhere. So to combat this from being a reoccurring thing, Jason would just grabs your hand and puts on the trolley before putting his own on top; Now you were being dragged instead of getting left behind in somewhere with people blocking the fucking isle.

How sweet of him.

(If you’re one of these ppl, go fuck yourself bc what the fuck is so interesting that you have to block the ENTIRE FUCKING ISLE? MOVE!)

Speaking of people blocking the isle, it’s Jason’s biggest pet peeve because WHY THE FUCK ARE THEY TAKING SO MUCH FUCKING SPACE?! FUCKING MOVE YOU LAZY BASTARDS!

He will fucking glare at anyone who even dares to lean over his trolley to get something and when you tell him about how obvious he was being, he’d only response to this was: ‘they’re privileged with the use of a voice, they should fucking use it sometime.’

You’re basically there to calm him down before he bulldozes some poor bastard by guiding him to a lesser crowed isle and get some junk food for later as a reward, followed by your magical cuddles and kisses.

Jason hates shopping but with you it was made just that little bit enduring, only a little bit…he still wants to fight the young couple who wouldn’t fucking move in that one isle and honestly you don’t blame him as you would gladly join him.

Obvs, those aren’t the ONLY reasons. Type Two’s are motivated by a desire to be loved and understood; Hudson strikes me as an openly loving and affectionate person. It’s one of those “late night driving turn up the radio let’s pretend we’re the only two people in the world” songs, but I love the beat in the chorus, so I can also imagine him playing it on air and dedicating it to you. (It’s also funny to me because you figuratively live in a city that you’ll never see in the screen- at least, the empowered part of the city lol)

Tim:

Tim isn't the most crafty or handy when it comes to things like art, so he's always admired everything you're able to do. You can impress him so easily with every piece of art you can make, regardless of if it's just little cartoon doodles or a fully painted landscape, he thinks all of it just looks so cool, and he always tells you as much. Tim is the type to take your pieces and hang them up around the house so that when he's going about his day he can look around and just admire the wonderful pieces of art you've made over the years. Tim really does love and admire every single piece you've created, and it just makes him feel so happy to have a partner that so freely expresses themselves through something like art, and maybe, just maybe, one day he might ask you to help him dabble in art as well. 

Brian:

Brian absolutely thinks that it's amazing, the various types of art that you can do. My Brian really enjoys woodworking as a hobby, and I can absolutely see him trying to get the two of you to combine forces on something, with him designing and carving something out of wood and you painting across the finished piece in whatever style you think fits it best. Honestly, I can see that as a recurring thing, the two of you working hard together, relaxing, and ridding yourselves of stress through your hobbies. Brian really admires your craftmanship and all the little things you do, and he gushes about them constantly, really excited to be able to witness you at work. Part of the reason why he loves when you paint over his woodworking is also that he feels so happy to be able to give you space and area to express yourself through your art right alongside him, it truly makes him so incredibly happy.

Liu/Sully:

Liu and Sully also both adore all of the art that you create. Liu himself has a knack for drawing and keeps sketchbooks and art supplies constantly stocked up in his bedroom. He enjoys drawing realism and landscapes, and it's absolutely something he'd love to do with you, especially for a date idea, the two of you sitting out in an open field drawing and painting your surroundings together, the thought just sounds so heavenly to him. Sully, on the other hand, is not as artistically inclined, and is amazed at what the two of you are able to do together, if not a bit jealous that he isn't as artistic as Liu. Sully really, really loves watching you at work, as he finds it so incredible the things you're able to do, and he could sit for hours curled up by your side amazed at every line and stroke you place. Both of them are incredibly fond of your artistic skills, and you'll never be short on praise from either of them.

I like reader’s view of life and can’t wait to read the backstory you’ve created for her! I can definitely see her treat people better because she doesn’t want them to feel like she does/did. Maybe her whole happy-go-lucky outlook is also a fake-it-till-you-make-it happiness, but when she’s around Bel, it’s all real. 

Shut ittt, Bel being a dorky gentlewoman while talking about reader has me going soft. She’s down bad already, isn’t she? ‘Just continue to treat her well and you won’t have to find out.’ I love the headcanon you made of Bel annoying Carter with all these questions, and probably with her/their lovey doveyness later on 🤣 You now made me think what reader would do IF she got annoyed or mad. Would she drop the full name? Making everyone around go ‘oh boy’? I can totally see this be because Bel is talking herself down again or shutting herself out, not something she actually did to hurt reader, because baby girl would never.

And about the swing set, well, now you made me think of it and, like Rachel, I’m going to cry. That’s actually so wholesome. I love the idea of reader healing Bel’s inner child that way, too. Since she had to grow up so fast and all. And I love even more how Bel being with reader heals Bel and, by doing so, also heals Rachel. They both deserve the entire world.

And for your blurb: Bel admiring reader from afar has me giggling again. I love her so much, thank you for writing for her. And Bel being jealous?? Helllll yes. Is the reader open about her sexuality? (Or isn’t she and is that why she was panicking?) Because I can see Bel also adding the factor of ‘and she’s probably not even into girls’ to her list of why she shouldn’t feel that way for her. And reader using the school’s library as a safe space because home isn’t a great place? Can Bel just give her a big hug already? ): Then Carter just third-wheeling while smirking again gahh <3

PS. To your anon with the picture post, I’m hc-ing that Rachel has that picture as her lockscreen (after Carter told her how to put it there). Do you think reader took it and texted it to Rachel and does that often, just so Rachel won’t have to miss a single moment/memory/photo ever again? 😭

Also, do you think Rachel invites reader out for the afternoon for like, a shovel talk type of thing? Granted, they were already dating before Rachel came back, and she can sense that a shovel talk is not needed in the slightest, but it’s just because she feels it’s her duty as mother? Maybe to have reader ease her worries and confirm how much she likes her daughter? Is Bel embarrassed about this? Does she even know? Or does she realise where the two went when they arrive at the house later, smiling and having brought back Bel and Carter’s favourite takeout on the way back or something?

hiiii bff 🫶 really love your tbhc movie masterpost !! i'm proper Obsessed with it actually !!!! is the martini police a black sabbath kind of rock band or the beatles kind of rock band? what music do they make? what are the vibes? what colours do you associate with them? this is all very important to me

hiiii !! glad to hear it because i am myself obsessed with this little thing i have created in my head. also feel free to stop me if this makes no sense. love love love these questions so this might be a long answer.

the martini police is sooo cool i think. its born from the lyric "who you gonna call? the martini police" and how that seems to be the name of the band that alex's character of the album is the frontman of. i was never really sure what kind of music they made, but then when i bought tranquility base hotel and casino 7 inch single, when i noticed that "anyways" is created as a song by the martini police (while tbhc is created for am) that i figured that the martini police is a rock band in the sense that arctic monkeys is. i thought it was cool, how tbhc title track "belongs" to arctic monkeys, while anyways is the martini police's, and i thought that anyways might be the song that comes post hotel lounge stay.

the more i thought about martini police, i started to like the idea of them a fixture of how arctic monkeys was during the am era, and how alex was during the eycte era. so so many arctic monkeys fans want alex and the band to return to how they were during the am era, and make that kind of music. so, in this little thing that i've written, the frontman wants to have a sort of departure from this, like alex has, and make different kinds of music. basically, the martini police exists in that space of music born from whatever people say i am and favourite worst nightmare, leading into am, the music that some monkeys fans won't let go of. sex, drugs, women, rock n roll! the way i saw their evolution as a band was something like wpsia -> fwn -> am -> everything you've come to expect (it's not arctic monkeys BUT i think it could fit in the universe that this thing i've written exists in, and also because alex during that era truly just was peak rockstar). and then it would be staying at the hotel that would allow them to venture out into the kind of music that is humbug -> suck it and see -> tbhc -> the car (althought not particularily in that order).

if i had to pick monkeys songs i think that the martini police would've definitely made, i'll say: i bet you look good on the dancefloor, do i wanna know?, knee socks, i want it all, arabella, brianstorm, teddy picker, 505, cigarette smoker fiona, still take you home, from the ritz to the rubble. off eycte, i'd say sweet dreams tn, used to be my girl, bad habits, aviation. if this makes any sense at all.

i'm not a huge rock fan outside of the monkeys so i'm bad at giving examples, but think something like the strokes during their is this it era, that kind of music, that kind of album, and room on fire too (cause i love meet me in the bathroom). the strokes, of course, because of how much they inspired arctic monkeys but also because they're one of my favourite bands. that's probably one of the best examples i can give you, so i don't know if that leans more towards the beatles or black sabbath or not.

i have no idea if any of this is making sense, i hope it does.

vibes and colours! such a good question, i'm actually kind of stumped. i think colours are such a big part of tbhc, like the music videos alone are so visually stunning. the band itself? to be honest, i've never really thought of it. i'll add some pictures so it all makes sense.

so there are two ways i think of this band. first is through pictures like this.

where you can see alex and then the big screen behind him (also him) because something about it just screams rockstar to me. i'm pretty sure you're a taylor swift fan, so you might see all those photos of the eras tour, where its her on stage and then the massive her in the background. like that. its because of photos like the one above that colours like orange and yellow and green and red stuck with me. bright colours to contrast the rock n roll leather and cigarette smoke. oranges can just be so jarring i think, but they stick, they're memorable.

whenever i think about this frontman character i always always think of this photo (below)

but then, at the same time, there are blues and purples. (this is so silly because i'm literally just saying every colour ever but hear me out)

in the greens and oranges and yellows and reds - such earthy colours - sits the sex, drugs, and rock n roll band that is loved by so many. the martini police at their greatest heights. purples and blues on the other hand, i also found to be spacey colours, and are this band coming down from this insane rock n roll lifestyle and begin to adapt. blues and purples are this softer side to the band, still a rock band, but existing outside the typical rock n roll lifestyle.

i don't really know what any of that means, so i'll move onto vibes. now of course, as mentioned, i'm not a HUGE rock fan, but i've learned a lot about bands from my dad, and i've seen a few documentaries. i think that the martini police's rise to fame follows the same as arctic monkeys, so no need to talk about that. you know how sometimes you watch a band or singers peform on stage and you can just tell they love being in this band, they love performing together? i see the martini police like that. even through a rise to fame they've stuck together and love each other a lot - same as arctic monkeys. their vibes, i think, are how the monkeys were during am era all the time, on every stage, for every album, making am/wpsia/fwn music. slicked back hair like a greaser in the outsiders, leather jacket, smoking on stage.

i think being a rockstar is like being a character actor, and that's what this frontman is. he's never really him, even though he's so honest in his lyrics. it's about being yourself so you can be loved, but its also about selling yourself.
