#truly an underrated meal option for a crowd

For the record, if you want to host but cooking for people is intimidating, sandwiches are a great option! You don't even have to make them in advance. You can just do Fancy Home Subway, and get a range of breads, meats, cheeses, veggies, and spreads, and let people assemble what they want! (If your social circle happens to be of the right sort, you can ask that anyone who owns a panini press bring it, so you can have hot sandwiches on demand.) If you've planned for specific types of sandwiches (like my green apple grilled cheese) you can write out little recipe cards with suggested sandwich ingredients/steps for people to try.
You can also have salad greens--most sandwich toppings can be chopped up and tossed into a salad if you like.
If you want to do soups, most grocery stores have loads of pre-made soups you just heat up! Depending on how you dress it up, it can be as fancy or casual as you like.
Not that anyone asked, but this is my Christmas eve dinner menu, plus tomato soup (no recipe, I follow my heart) and charcuterie. I'm aiming for a less heavy meal since we end up with a lot on Christmas day.
And this is Jane.
#if you're wanting to do a potluck for budget reasons#you can do Fancy Sandwiches and just ask each person to bring one component part#so someone brings a few loaves of bread; someone else brings a couple different deli meats#someone else on a cheese plate#etc#truly an underrated meal option for a crowd#and leftovers are great! long shelf life for most parts and easy to use up.

6 reasons to visit Moldova for beautiful vacation
Moldova, often overlooked by travelers, is a hidden gem in Eastern Europe that offers a truly unique and beautiful vacation experience. Nestled between Romania and Ukraine, this small country is rich in history, culture, and natural beauty, making it an ideal destination for those seeking an off-the-beaten-path adventure. From its world-renowned wine cellars to its picturesque landscapes and charming villages, Moldova has something to captivate every type of traveler. Whether you’re exploring ancient monasteries, tasting exquisite local wines, or simply enjoying the serene countryside, Moldova offers a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of more crowded tourist destinations. Additionally, Moldova’s warm hospitality and affordable travel costs make it an attractive option for budget-conscious travelers. With its blend of history, culture, and natural splendor, Moldova is a destination that promises a memorable and enriching vacation experience, leaving visitors with a deep appreciation for this lesser-known European treasure.
Here are some reasons to visit Moldova for a beautiful vacation.
1. Examine the extensive past and traditions:
Despite its small size, Moldova is rich in culture and history, giving tourists the chance to tour historic forts, museums, and monasteries. Chișinău, the capital, is replete with attractive parks, buildings from the Soviet era, and noteworthy cultural attractions like the National Museum of History. Another must-see is the Orheiul Vechi, a historic monastery complex perched atop a striking limestone cliff. Travelers can experience Moldova's enduring customs, including its Orthodox Christian heritage, by traveling back in time to this region.
2. Visit Eastern Europe's Wine Capital:
For good reason, Moldova is frequently referred to as the "Wine Capital of Eastern Europe." With a more than 5,000-year-old winemaking heritage, the nation is home to some of the oldest wineries on Earth. Legendary wine cellars can be found in Mileștii Mici and Cricova, with Mileștii Mici currently holding the record for the world's largest wine collection. These underground cellars are open for tours, where guests can sample fine wines and discover the complex, centuries-old process of winemaking.
3. Take in the Beauty of Nature:
The stunning combination of undulating hills, deep forests, and calm rivers characterizes Moldova's terrain, which makes it a top choice for those who enjoy the outdoors. Known as the "green lungs" of Moldova, the Codrii Forest Reserve is a wildlife haven with great hiking trails. Along its picturesque banks, the Dniester River offers opportunities for boating, fishing, and picnicking as it meanders through the nation. Peace and relaxation abound in Moldova's serene countryside, which is a great place to escape the bustle.
4. Sample Authentic Moldovan Food:
A trip to Moldova would not be complete without sampling its traditional cuisine, a delicious blend of Flavors influenced by Turkish, Russian, Ukrainian, and Romanian cooking customs. A taste of Moldova's rich culinary heritage can be found in dishes like placinte (savory pies), sarmale (stuffed cabbage rolls), and mămăligă (a type of cornmeal porridge). Wine enthusiasts will also value the custom of matching meals to premium Moldovan wines, which enhances the dining experience.
5. Go to Transnistria, Which Is Underrated:
Traveling to Transnistria, a self-declared independent region within Moldova, is an interesting and unusual experience. Transnistria retains many of the buildings, monuments, and symbols from the Soviet era, making a visit there feel like traveling back in time. With its imposing statues of Lenin, military tanks on display, and streets named after Soviet heroes, the capital, Tiraspol, is an exciting place to visit. Traveling to Transnistria provides a unique window into a place where time appears to have stopped still, despite its political complexity.
6. Take Advantage of Low-Cost Travel and Friendly Service:
Moldova is a popular choice for travelers on a tight budget because it is among the most reasonably priced travel destinations in Europe. Even with its low cost of living, the nation offers excellent food, cozy lodging, and a variety of activities at a fraction of the price of Western Europe. Moldovans are also renowned for their gracious hospitality, which goes a long way toward making guests feel at home and welcome. The pure beauty of the nation and the genuinely kind people who live their guarantee that your trip to Moldova will be both unforgettable and enlightening.
Conclusion
Moldova offers an enchanting blend of history, culture, and natural beauty, making it a perfect destination for a beautiful vacation. Whether you’re exploring the ancient monasteries, savouring the world-class wines, or immersing yourself in the tranquil countryside, Moldova provides a unique and memorable experience. The country's affordability, coupled with the genuine warmth and hospitality of its people, ensures that visitors feel welcomed and valued. For those seeking an off-the-beaten-path adventure that combines rich cultural experiences with serene landscapes, Moldova is an ideal choice. Additionally, obtaining a Moldova visa is a straightforward process, making it even easier for travelers to explore this hidden gem in Eastern Europe. With so much to offer, from its historical landmarks to its culinary delights, Moldova promises a vacation filled with discovery, relaxation, and unforgettable moments. Don’t miss the opportunity to experience this charming and underrated destination.

Top 5 Table Service Restaurants at Disney World
***Disclaimer: These are the views and opinions of the author(s). Though many Disney World visitors may share these opinions, they may not apply to the overall general public. All opinions are valid and appreciated. Note: I have also excluded Victoria and Albert's from this list. Though it is arguably the best restaurant at Walt Disney World, being a AAA Five Diamond Recipient. However, since the dining experience cost $250-$300 per person and is not suitable for younger kids, I can't in good conscience recommend the restaurant. If you do not have younger kids and have a lot of money to blow on a celebration, then by all means, go to Victoria and Albert's. Some of the best food at Walt Disney World is there. However, it will be excluded from this list because it is not younger-family and financially friendly. Planning a trip to Walt Disney World is overwhelming to say the least. There are so many different places you could stay and so many different places you could eat. And a lot of the times, it is hard to tell if you're going to a place with good quality food unless you do some serious research. So to make your next Disney trip easier, here are Travelers' Guide to Disney top five favorite table-service restaurants at Walt Disney World.
5. Crystal Palace at Magic Kingdom
If you're looking for a scenic character-dining experience, look no further--Crystal Palace is for you! Located on the edge of Main Street USA, bordering Adventureland, the Crystal Palace offers a buffet/family style arrangement of American cuisine. It ranges between $35-$59.99 per adult and it also accepts some dining plans. If you're on a dining plan, it takes up 1 for either the regular or the deluxe plan. However, it does not take the Quick-Service dining plan. Set in a beautiful building modeled after the Crystal Palace Exhibition in Hyde Park, London in 1851 (which is now destroyed), you'll get too look upon the hustle-and-bustle in front of Cinderella's Castle as you dine with some friends from the Hundred-Acre Woods! Honestly, Crystal Palace is probably my favorite character-dining experience in terms of characters; you get a lot of bang for your buck. In addition, friends from the Hundred-Acre Woods are sort of rare to be seen anywhere else in Disney World (apart from the character meet-and-greet at the Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh, though that is commonly just Tigger and Pooh). You and your kiddo will get to meet Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, and Eeyore. For the Crystal Palace, it is really important to make a reservation and even then there could be a little bit of a wait time--it is one of the most popular restaurants in the Magic Kingdom. And though the restaurant itself can get crowded and a little loud, it is a great character-dining experience. However, if you are going with older kids or you and your friends, this might be a character-dining experience you can skip out on. That being said, you'll really enjoy it if you do decide to do it. I grew up going to the Crystal Palace, so on my latest trip it was hard to pass on this character-dining and try out new restaurants.
4. Be Our Guest at Magic Kingdom
Be Our Guest is the newest restaurant in the Magic Kingdom, a part of the overhaul that is New Fantasyland. Ranging between $15-$34.99 per person, Be Our Guest offers American and French-style cuisine a quick service/fast casual dining experience. For breakfast and lunch, Be Our Guest accepts 1 of all dining plans (the quick service, dining plan, and deluxe dining plan). However, at dinner since it is a character-dining experience, it only accepts 2 of the dining plan and deluxe dining plan. One of the reasons why Be Our Guest is on Travelers' Guide to Disney top 5 is its impeccable theming. Walking up the restaurant, you see the castle from Beauty and the Beast up in the mountains. It is truly amazing how imagineers made the castle appear life-size and far away. And as you walk through the broken archway and a bridge, you enter through the gates of what seems to be like a hidden fortress under a mountain range. And as you walk in, there is a beautiful mosaic of Belle and Adam, so make sure to snag a picture of that! You have the options to eat in three rooms: the ballroom, the library, and the west wing. The ball room is the largest and it is gorgeously decked out at Christmas. At the back of the ballroom there are seven large grand mirrors depicting a snowy night outside--and get this! For that display imagineers used actual animation from the original film! And if you look above to the breathtaking chandeliers, you'll see a fantastic mural on the ceiling--and the cherubs are the actual faces of imagineers or their kids as a baby! On one side of the ballroom is the library, which personally I think is the least cool room in the Be Our Guest restaurant--but that does not mean its theming is less extraordinary. The center of the room there is an arched enclave on a spinning Belle and Beast and depictions of scenes throughout the movie are hanging on the walls. On the other side of the ballroom is my favorite room (and probably the hardest to find tables in) is the west wing. This room is themed to the shattered remains of the Beast's personal corridors, with torn curtains, paintings, barely-lit lights. The iconic rose is placed in the center of a bay window--and this is something you should keep an eye on. Every time a petal falls, the Beast roars and the picture of Adam briefly flashes to that of the Beast. Note: if you make a reservation online prior to your Disney vacation, you can order your meals! It's always a fun treat!
3. Chefs de France in Epcot
Chefs de France is one of the more underrated restaurants in Walt Disney World, but I think it's one of the best. In the front of the France Pavilion at Epcot, it cost $15-$34.99 per person. It takes one Disney dining plan and one deluxe dining plan. Chefs de France offers a delicious menu of French cuisine surrounded by unique French theming. I had a mouth-watering filet that I devoured in ten minutes. It was truly one of the best dishes I have ever had a Disney World. The dessert section of the menu is also incredibly good, offering an array of French dishes that will surely satisfy your sweet tooth! The restaurant itself is family-friendly and offers amazing views of the World Showcase and the rest of Epcot. Commonly, there is also street shows in front of the restaurant. It's a really entertaining way to pass the time while you're waiting for your food. There is also a beautiful fountain that you can view through the windows of the restaurant. The French theming is impeccable, giving you a perfect Parisian vibe. As I mentioned above, it is family-friendly, but I still would recommend it more for older visitors, since it is not a character dining.
2. Sanaa at Animal Kingdom Lodge
I've only recently discovered Sanaa and I really wish I knew about it sooner. Located in Kidani Village of Animal Kingdom Lodge (the Disney Vacation club section of the hotel), Sanaa offers delicious African cuisine with Indian flavors as exotic animals roam the savanna before you. Ranging between $15-$34.99 per adult, Sanaa also takes one regular dining plan and one deluxe dining plan. Though Sanaa does offer kids menu, I still would recommend this restaurant to older family and friends instead, for some of the food may not appeal to the younger audience. That being said, it is absolutely DELICIOUS. When you go to Sanaa, you have to get the Indian-style bread service. Before going to Sanaa, I had read numerous reviews all loving the restaurant and recommending the bread plate. You get five types of bread and my favorite was the Garlic Naan--it almost melts in your mouth. Then you get nine accompaniments, all ranging in different level of spiciness. My brother and I tried every single spread, which is probably one of my fondest memories of our latest Disney trip. My entire family has a relatively low spice-tolerance, so my parents found it quite hilarious when my brother and I got to the spicier accompaniments. Though the rest of my meal and the view of the wildlife was absolutely delicious, the Indian-style bread service was my favorite part. The view of the wildlife was also amazing. I definitely recommend arriving to Animal Kingdom Lodge before your reservation. For starters, it is a really pretty hotel to walk around. Secondly, the waiting area for Sanaa is an outdoor patio that is in the heart of the wildlife savanna. You can get a really great and close view of wildlife. When you go to Sanaa there's no definite chance that you'll be seated next to a window, so it is always good to get there beforehand so you can get a good look at the wildlife.
1. The Garden Grill
Numerous Disney blogs rank Garden Grill as the best character-dining experience and I one-hundred percent agree. I have been going to Garden Grill since I was a little kid and every time I go back I love it even more. It is my family's favorite restaurant and I don't see us ever not going. Garden Grill is a family style/buffet of American cuisine in Future World of Epcot. It is $35 to $59.99 per adult and also accepts one dining plan and one deluxe dining plan. Not only will you get to meet Chip and Dale, but also Mickey and Pluto in their special Garden Grill outfits. What makes Garden Grill unlike any other restaurant is that it is slowly rotating--that's right! It's spinning in a circle. However it is so slow that you barely even notice and does not give you motion sickness or effects your meal. You even go through a bit of Living with the Land, a fun educational ride about our earth's ecosystem and is definitely an attraction you should hit before or after your reservation. Speaking of reservations, you should always make one at Garden Grill; it is so popular that sometimes there is even a wait time with one. Garden Grill has some really great comfort food that really hits the spot, especially during the holidays. It is incredibly family friendly and even the young kiddos will love the food. Everyone is super friendly and you should definitely make a reservation at the Garden Grill during one of your days at Epcot!

Tips and Tricks | Save Money When You Travel | Visa2Fly Learning to save money while you travel is an extremely useful skill. Why? Because you’d be hard-pressed to find someone who doesn’t want to (or have to) travel the world. Especially at a time like this, when Covid-19 has rocked all of our lives, it’s much harder to think about how we could travel. With an increase in unemployment – and the added risk of catching a disease – it may not be feasible to splurge on luxuries like travelling for the purpose of vacation. Alas, our wanderlust won’t quench itself: but neither will paying our utility bills! It truly is a hard bargain to drive. But what if we told you that it wouldn’t be so hard to get on that plane and still be guilt-free? Read on to know more about how you can save money while you travel! 1. Do Your ResearchThe first step to save money while you travel is to do your research. Often times you are in a place which you don’t know about – which the locals are aware of. It’s important to understand that all the people of a different country are of an extremely hospitable, you may be at the receiving end of a bad bargain. More often than not, this is the case. Many places restaurants and tourist spots charge extra and tend to overcharge foreigners: But you can avoid this. By checking out the industry rates for the activities you plan to do: as well as taxi or transport rates, and even food fares, you are less susceptible to being fooled. Another tip is to make photo sure you know common ways that foreigners tend to lose out, so that you can be aware and not make the same mistake. 2. Look for Free ActivitiesThere’s so much you can do on a minimal budget. If you look around your own country, you will find many things that one could do without spending too much money – so to save money when you travel to someone else’s country shouldn’t be that hard. In fact, there are a lot of activities free of charge – which one would never think of as being a valuable life experience. Sometimes it is the things that we take for granted that offer the most in terms of enrichment. One such example are walking tours. spending some time to explore the surroundings by foot is a good way to spend time and familiarise yourself with the area. while doing so, you are still being exposed to many aspects of local culture and way of life which you may never have thought of if you were speeding by in a car. Oftentimes, there are also many community activities that are free or low-budget. These help you save money and enjoy your stay at the same time. Pro Tip: make sure you go at the time of local festivals or events so that you can get special offers! 3. Service Apartments, Hostels and Airbnb Are Your FriendsDid you know that hotels are not the only way to find accommodation? Many other underrated options – such as service apartments or hostels – offer cheap accommodation with more facilities available. Yes, you may comprise on the comfort of having your own private suite and hotel staff at your beck and call, but think about it: How much time will you be spending in your room anyway? With a packed tourist schedule, you probably won’t be needing all the facilities you will be paying for. Therefore, to save money when you travel, you must not just go for a cheaper hotel room: but look for other stay options instead. Here’s a tip: even if you choose a hotel, don’t go for the best room they have. Opt for establishments which have microwaves, a fridge or a kitchen area that are attached. These come in extremely handy especially when restaurant food is overpriced or unhealthy. Remember to be cautious to not go towards other unhealthy options such as convenience store food – which may also be readily available, and can be cooked easily at your place. 4. Choose Your Location WiselyThe location of your stay is also extremely important. Each of us tend to have our own tourist schedules, packed with activities that we wish to do: and it is common knowledge that we’ll have to spend a bit to reach there. Transport costs can often add up to be a big hit to your wallet, so make sure that you are staying in a location central to what your desired activities are. Or alternatively, check out public transport options – such as bus and subway routes – and plan your stay accordingly. Another tip is to note how close is the nearest farmers market or local store is: Shopping for Essentials here is much cheaper and you can save money when you travel as well. 5. Go Off-SeasonHere, off-season refers to the non-tourist time of year. Often, this refers to the times where holidays are not around the corner, and people are busy doing other activities. At this time, flight tickets and hotel activities are generally cheaper. Crowds are also less, which means that you will have more personalized time scouring the places you wish – without being interrupted by the busy bustling of other folk enjoying the same activity. Another advantage of less crowding is that you have lower chances of catching an airborne disease (*ahem* Covid-19 *ahem*) – More safety and more satisfaction! Another Pro tip: Always go for shops that are further away from tourist spots, as the ones close by are generally pricier. 6. Flight TipsThere are many ways that we can save on flight expenses – and we’re here to show you some of them! One step is to book at least two months before your travel. Flights get more expensive as you go towards your date. Another tip is to be flexible with your flights – certain airlines have flight deals on certain days of the week, and capitalising on this is a good way to save money while you travel. These two tips go hand-in-hand! It is also easier to be more price oriented if you book way in advance, and let price determine the day of your flight so that you get the best deal.Remember to bring your own snacks and water as well (but not too much water, as you may not be allowed with it on the flight! ) This way, you can save on in-flight meals. If you are not picky on seating, you can save on booking your preferred one as well! Try to go earlier to the airport so that you get a good seat anyway. The last tip is to try to fly less – which means that instead of packing your vacation with lots of flights, do one or two nearby destinations, and do them well. Choose your destinations carefully – as even if you want to go all the way across the world, you may be spending a truckload of money just to fund flight + boarding charges. If you choose nearby destinations, you can do much more with the same amount of money! So be practical. 7. SIM Cards and ForexWe might think that every foreign travel requires us to get a sim card. However this is hardly the case. For extremely short trips where you can manage with internet connection and Wi-Fi, you really don’t need a physical SIM. Therefore choose wisely as you can save money on this. We recommend Visa2Fly‘s services for all your SIM card woes – click the hyperlink to visit our page!As for credit cards and foreign exchange, it is better to carry the hard cash with you. This is because many banks abroad will charge Credit Card exchange fees, that cost you way more than they should. You will definitely be paying more than you receive in cash at the ATM booth – so why not just get your own cash at home before you travel? Changing currency in your own country is better. To conclude, there is a fine balance between budget travel and cheap travel. Trying to enjoy whilst saving vs. splurging on the unnecessary is a choice we often have to make in life – even if we are not travelling. The trick here lies in satiating both cravings – make sure you spend at least one day in a very good restaurant, or in a place which you really don’t mind spending on. This way, you won’t come out of the trip feeling unsatisfied, and you’ll still have money to spare! The next step in your travel journey would be visa services – which we @ Visa2Fly can help you with! Travel insurance and SIM cards are also our forte, so hit us up to know more. If you like our blogs, make sure to check out the ones on Hostels vs. Hotels and Long-Haul Flight Tips – who knows, they might come in useful for your next trip! Happy travelling~~

The three best luxurious lodges in New Zealand
There are number of countries I check out far more than at the time and nevertheless experience like I have hardly scratched the surface area but New Zealand is one of them. No make any difference how quite a few instances I take a look at New Zealand, I generally uncover more to find. This yr I returned to take a look at the 3 ideal luxury lodges in New Zealand and report back. Tough gig, correct!?
Matakauri Lodge
Let us start out with Matakauri Lodge, my own favourite from the Robertson assortment. This lodge is preferably found just a limited push outside the house of Queenstown. I frequented this lodge a couple of many years in the past and upon my second visit, not a lot has modified. Its just the way I keep in mind it: peaceful, ethereal and amazingly serene.
There are a handful of distinctive rooms to opt for from and all come with full board. Premiums involve breakfast and evening meal with matching wine. Having said that the splendor of Matakauri actually lies in its site in close proximity to to Queenstown. So be sure to fill your days with visits to the towns and bordering places. Nearby Paradise is a need to check out, primarily for Lord of the Rings followers!

Cape Kidnappers
The lodge occupying 2nd area in my coronary heart is the region themed Cape Kidnappers. Acquiring lived on a farm myself, I have a authentic gentle place for farm encounters and the magic of waking up on the land. Cape Kidnappers delivers just that – it is positioned on a huge parcel of land overlooking the gorgeous coastline.
This lodge has a really various experience because it pays tribute to its farming surrounds. The vibe is laid again but with region type and if you question me, there is no greater time to stop by than in the colder months to make use of the cozy interiors with a glass of merlot in hand. I stayed two evenings below and it was not fairly adequate – give yourself 3 to truly unwind.

Kauri Cliffs
Final but not least, Kauri Cliffs was in simple fact the very first lodge established by the Robertson family and caters much more towards a golfing clientele. The lodge sits on an remarkable 18-hole golfing training course that appeals to plenty of site visitors each and every 12 months, in particular those people intrigued in the sport.
If you contemplate yourself much more of a summer time vacationer, this lodge is the very best option for the warmer months as it is positioned on the idyllic Bay of Islands, a single of New Zealand’s most underrated spots. With a spot at the really North of the North Island, you can get pleasure from confined crowds and non-public beaches completely to oneself, even throughout peak year.

8 Destinations You Should Check Out for Spring Break 2019
Spring break will be here before you know it. Two months from now, thousands of students will be packing up for spring break. Some will be headed to warm beaches, some will be heading home, some may be headed someplace at all. What about you? Are you thinking about a trip for spring break?
You don’t have to be a student to enjoy spring break. My family and I are holding out until a little later in the year for our first trip but I’ll be with you in spirit! If you are in the planning stages for your spring break, or if you haven’t even started, below are a few ideas for a great vacation. It doesn’t matter if you are single, a couple, a family, a student, or even retirees. The suggestions I am giving will work for pretty much anyone who needs to take a break and have a little fun!
ALASKA
Ok so you may be thinking “Alaska for spring break?” Yes. While it is still a bit chilly, a trip up to Fairbanks will give you an amazing opportunity to see the Northern Lights. Generally speaking, you can potentially see the Northern Lights from any place in the state but the further north you go, the better your chances.
Northern Lights season is September and into April but using mid-March as a cut off point is your best bet. This is a great way to spend your spring break! Alaska cruise season starts in late April and runs through September for most cruise lines. The cruise itineraries don’t go far enough north to guarantee the ability to see the Northern Lights either so an air/land trip is your best bet.
If you are looking for an interesting place to stay, the White House in Skagway is rumored to be haunted. Built in 1902 and serving as a hospital during it’s life time, a stay her could add a little excitement to your vacation!
Book with Hotelopia!
COSTA MAYA
It seems a lot of people, when they talk about going to Mexico, are talking about the Yucatan region. Cancun, Cozumel, Isla de las Mujeres, Playa del Carmen are the places I typically hear about. I myself have visited them as well.
Fortunately for me, a few years back I was on a Caribbean cruise that had a stop in Costa Maya. I am so glad for the introduction because, at the time, it was somewhat undeveloped and untouched. There wasn’t even much by way of accommodations back then but the beaches were beautiful with plenty of beach clubs side by side with food, drink, cabanas, and hammocks in the water.
We were fortunate enough to get a cabana and table closest to the water and we made great use of the table service. The food wasn’t anything to write home about but it was what you would expect, and the drinks were good. Most of the beach clubs had wifi so that is a plus as well.
NICARAGUA
Nicaragua is one of those places that I think is absolutely underrated. Bordered by Honduras to the north and Costa Rica to the south, it is referred to as the “Land of Lakes and Volcanoes.” US citizens need a passport to go to Nicaragua but visas are not required for stays less than 90 days within a 6 month period (see more info about visting Nicaragua here)
Nicaragua has over 50 volcanoes however only 7 are active. Check out Masaya National Park for information about tours that take you right to the edge of a volcano, including night tours. There are several tours available from various cities including this private night tour by Viator.
Not into volcanoes? No worries. There are plenty of sandy beaches to satisfy most sun worshippers. Weather in Nicaragua is in the 90’s in March so it is ideal for relaxing to the sound of the waves with a fruity drink in your hand. January to April also happens to be ideal because they are the driest months.
BAHAMAS
I visited Bahamas a few years ago during a girls’ trip and found the food too interesting to pass up. My favorite, conch, is easily found at most restaurants and I found with great delight that it goes great with most adult beverages (in my humble alcohol fueled opinion).
While you need a passport to visit the Bahamas, a visa is not required. On my last visit we went on a cruise that had an overnight in Nassau. Nassau is not my favorite port but it is still a great place to visit. We did a city tour that stopped at several locations via bus with opportunities to try rum and rum cake.
If you want something truly exciting to do in Bahamas, check out the Grand Bahama Shark Dive with Viator. This 2.5 hour tour takes you out on a boat to Shark Alley where you dive in and get cozy with reef, lemon or nurse sharks.
LAKE TAHOE
Lake Tahoe is one of my favorite spots. Lake Tahoe in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and is shared by both California and Nevada. It is a freshwater lake and offers skiing, hiking, and beaches to tourists. There really is something for everyone.
On my trip to Lake Tahoe, we were driving in from Reno with a brief stop in Virginia City. If you are looking for an interesting place to stay, and if you are parnormally inclined as I am, you may want to consider the Tahoe Biltmore on the North Shore. Rumored to be haunted by a ghost named Mary, she is said to be seen in 1960’s attire.
If ghosts are not your thing, you have plenty more hotels, lodges, inns, resorts, and bed & breakfasts to choose from. I had my kiddo with me and I didn’t think she was ready for parasailing (we took a gondola tour instead) but you should absolutely consider the South Lake Tahoe Parasailing tour.
LAS VEGAS
This city needs no introduction. I mean……who hasn’t heard “Vegas baby!” The weather is quite ideal in March: 70’s during the day, 40’s/50’s at night. I won’t even bother talking about casinos and gambling because everyone knows about that. There is so much more to Las Vegas than that!
One of my recommendations is the Sunset Hot Air Balloon Ride. There is a sunrise ride that is less expensive but who wants to get up early after some late night gambling and bar hopping? Or maybe you can stay up all night and then go! A 1-hour ride plus a champagne toast…….doesn’t that sound dreamy?
If an hour in a balloon is too much for you, how about 15 minutes in a helicopter? On our next trip to Las Vegas (some time this year) I plan on the Night Flight Helicopter Tour. I have always wanted to do it and this year will be my turn!
HONDURAS
Honduras is a commonly known as a cruise port for many cruise lines. I have been a couple of times and had such a great time that I will be going a third time. My first time included snorkeling over a ship wreck and it my daughter’s first time snorkeling altogether. I had to shove her into the water but, once in the water, she loved it.
Our second trip included swimming with dolphins which was more exhilarating than I expected. While they are friendly and gentle creatures, they sometimes swam by us closely and quickly which startled my daughter just a little bit. You can stay in shallow water though which is ideal for younger children.
Our next trip will likely include the Monkey and Sloth Hangout tour. I like this tour (despite the fact that sloths kind of freak me out) because it is a sanctuary that is home to these sweet rescued creatures.
Travel advisories exist from time to time so please check the US State Department website before planning a trip to Honduras. For air travel into Honduras, a passport is required but there is no visa requirement for visits up to 90 days.
CRUISE!
So this one is my favorite. Why? Because there are SO MANY OPTIONS available! You don’t have to try to choose one destination and your accommodations + meals are included. It is very cost effective, especially if you don’t require luxury accommodations like a suite. (Personally I am a fan of suites because I travel with my family and we need the space.) I absolutely adore having coffee on my balcony every morning. The sound of the ocean is absolutely calming.
There are multiple US ports to choose from as well as itinerary and duration of cruise. If you are thinking of taking the kiddies on a spring break trip, a cruise is a great option for you because of the availability of kid’s programs on so many ships. You get the benefit of being able to drop the kids off for activities while you get a little down time. If you have accessibility needs, a cruise is a great way to go because arrangements can be made to meet your needs.
****************************************
I hope this list has helped you narrow down your choices for a spring break vacation. If you travel during prime spring break time, you can expect prices to be higher. If you have the ability to be flexible, I encourage it to save you money and to avoid the hassle of crowds.
Make this beautiful day count!

12 things to do in Iceland that will help you beat the crowds
Iceland’s unique landscape.
Guitar photographer/Shutterstock
In the last few years, tourism to Iceland has increased dramatically— out of nowhere, it seemed like nearly everyone was either going there or knew someone who was.
It’s not hard to see why: Iceland offers a unique landscape of mountains, volcanoes, glaciers, wide open spaces, and cold ocean waters that is hard to find elsewhere. There is an endless amount of things to see, but some attractions stand out as more popular than others. Almost everyone who goes to Iceland wants to check out the wonders of the Golden Circl e, swim in the beautiful Blue Lagoon, and take a trip to attempt to see the Northern Lights.
These are, of course, wonderful things to do, and if you only stuck to the more tourist-filled spots in Iceland, you would still have a terrific time. But they certainly aren’t the only things the country has to offer.
I recently went on a trip to Iceland and, to be honest, was surprised at how much I loved it. Reykjavik, the capital city, was very different than I imagined it would be, and the beauty of all of the nature surrounding the city is just as breathtaking as people say. I was overwhelmed by how much there was to do, and found myself enjoying the more underrated activities a little bit more. If you want to miss the crowds and try something different, check out these underrated things to do in Iceland.
Set something up with the Team Iceland Stopover Program.
Icelandair.
StudioPortoSabbia/Shutterstock
This year, Iceland’s soccer team has become the smallest nation ever to qualify for the World Cup. To celebrate this achievement, Icelandair launched a Team Iceland Stopover program, which is a series of 90-minute soccer-inspired experiences for passengers that were created by the national team players. The 90-minute experiences are actually included in the price of a flight ticket to Iceland, so it’s a pretty great deal. The activities also highlight some of the more underrated aspects of the country: one experience is a long hike, another is playing golf in a beautiful landscape, and one is to go to a soccer game.
This is a really fun and easy way to experience some of the more underrated parts of Iceland, and it’s only available now until the end of June.
Eat all the vegetarian food.
Seriously.
Jessica Booth
When you think of food in Iceland, you probably think of the country’s more adventurous options, like horse meat, whale meat, hot dogs, and fermented shark. Before arriving in Iceland, I wasn’t sure what to expect as far as restaurants, and my expectations were low. But my stay there proved me wrong: Iceland has amazing food, and surprisingly, they have terrific vegetarian options.
Make sure you spend as much time as possible in the many restaurants in Reykjavik, where you’ll find a lot of lamb and different seafood, as well as great vegetarian/vegan options. I highly recommend The CooCoo’s Nest for healthy eats (it’s a small, adorable, and delicious cafe by the harbor), Fish Company for something fancy and unique (it’s really cozy and has great seafood), and Sumac for wonderful Mediterranean vegan options.
Landmannalaugar.

Many people who go to Iceland flock to the Golden Circle, which is beautiful. But if you want to go to something a little less popular, check out Landmannalaugar. A local recommend this to me while I was there — it’s an area that is found next to a Laugahraun lava field, which is dried magma that was originally formed in 1477. Landmannalaugar is a lot of rhyolite mountains, which are different shades of red, pink, green, and golden yellow that all change tone with the sun. There are hiking trails and geothermal baths, and it’s truly stunning.
Go to a soccer game.
It’s a classic activity.

One of my personal favorite things about going to other countries is getting a taste of local culture, and one of the most fun ways to do that is to go to a sporting event. I went to a soccer game (or, as they say, futbol) while I was there, and I actually had the best time. Iceland has a small stadium that makes the experience a lot more intimate, so you really feel like you’re a part of the game. Going to a futbol game may not be the first thing you think of when thinking about planning a trip to Iceland, but it can definitely be a fun night time activity.
Relax at a geothermal spa that isn’t the Blue Lagoon.

The Blue Lagoon is one of the first things many people think of when they think of Iceland. And while a trip there is definitely worth it, you should know that it’s absolutely not the only geothermal bath in the country. Actually, the Blue Lagoon is so popular that many are now complaining that it’s too crowded all the time, taking away some of the good things about the experience.
If you want to check out a geothermal bath experience but don’t want to get stuck in the crowds, try another geothermal spa like Laugarvatn Fontana. It’s considerably smaller, but still offers a relaxing, naturally hot bathing experience with gorgeous views of the lake and mountains in the distance. There are natural steam baths you can hang out in, a kid’s pool, and a geothermal bakery where they actually make bread in geothermal springs (and it’s incredible).
Eat lunch in a tomato greenhouse.
Fridheimar, a tomato greenhouse.
Jessica Booth
Reykjavik has so many wonderful restaurants to offer that you don’t really need to leave the city to find a good meal. But if you’re out exploring, make sure to stop by Fridheimar, a tomato greenhouse conveniently located around the Golden Circle area that also has a restaurant. It’s very charming, with a small menu entirely focused on tomatoes. Stop in to get warm with tomato soup and a side of bread (no joke, this place had the best bread I’ve ever had in my life), and finish off with tomato ice cream (which is a lot better than it sounds). It’s a unique, interesting experience.
Go to Braud & Co for cinnamon roll.
The colorful wall outside of Braud & Co.
Jessica Booth
To be honest, I was not prepared for how delicious Iceland’s food was, especially when it came to pastries and bread (the best bread I’ve ever had, hands down). One thing that especially stood out was the cinnamon roll from the bakery Braud & Co. It’s a small bakery with a very colorful outside, and everything is delicious — especially the cinnamon rolls. Buy them and eat them for breakfast. Trust me!
Explore a volcano from the inside.
Inside the Volcano tour.

The best thing about Iceland is all of the unique experiences you can take part in that can’t be found anywhere else – or at least not just anywhere. One of those is exploring a volcano from the inside, which sounds terrifying but also amazing. There’s an Inside The Volcano tour that brings you down to Bláfjöll, where you’ll hike to a volcano, then go on a sort of elevator-like basket, and be taken down into a volcano. This should definitely be something everybody is talking about!
Go horseback riding at night.
Icelandic horses.
Ivanchik/Shutterstock
Maybe the coolest thing about going to Iceland in the summer is experiencing how much daylight the country has. While the winter only has about five hours of sunlight, the summer, from mid-May to mid-August, offers up to 21 hours of sunlight— and those other few hours aren’t very dark at all. It’s kind of amazing and a totally unique experience.
Take advantage of all that extra light by going for a night time horseback ride— although it definitely won’t be dark. Iceland is known for their unique breed of horses, and going for a midnight golden hour tour is super special and different.
Explore Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon.

If you’re up for a long hike, you should check out this canyon in Southern Iceland, which is a mossy wonderland full of beautiful things to see. There are rushing streams, beautiful mountain peaks, and lots of Instagrammable moments. Just bring lots of layers and waterproof shoes and clothing — you’ll be walking through low water some of the time.
Go on a brewery tour.

Gary J. Wood/Flickr
You might go to Iceland to get a good dose of nature, but that doesn’t mean you can’t grab a drink along the way. There are a few brewery tours in the country, like one in Reykjavik, that allow you to get a taste of unique Icelandic beers. You can also learn more about Icelandic brewery history, and explore some cool bars in Reykjavik.
Check out Dyrhólaey.

If you want to explore outside more, check out Dyrhólaey, known as “the arch with the hole.” Located on the south coast of Iceland, it’s a small peninsula that just looks very cool. You’ll get a beautiful view and might spot some cool birds. You’ll also be close to a small town called Vik, which is the southernmost village in the country, and is adorable to walk through.

An adventure comes in many names and forms, and whatever you imagine how it will be can be found in the City of Baguio. You may have heard about that the city is located at the top of the mountains and for sure you wonder what you can find there. Are you not trapped on top of the cold peaks? Is there a good deal of things you can do within its vicinity and beyond?
The answer is a big YES.
Yes, to having many delicious eats.
Yes, to meet wonderful people.
Yes, to learning a rich culture.
Yes, to collecting unforgettable memories.
And yes, to getting endless adventures.
You have to come here to know by your eyes that the city has many hidden surprises. You can have all the big-time fun and everything you never expected to experience. You can go on a unique journey that is worth sharing with your family and friends.
Moreover, there is one thing you should know before anything else. Its weather is cold unlike other cities in the Philippines. You read it right, cold, all year round. Some alumni of BESA say the weather is the same with Korea on the autumn season. For those who want to experience drinking brewed coffee in the chilly morning or walking in the shop street at night, Baguio is your place. Because of the cold weather, you don’t have to lock yourself in the room on the afternoon with full-blast air condition. No one needs air condition in Baguio city, and any time of the day is a perfect time to enjoy the outdoors!
Take that perfect selfie
The end of October was a crowning moment for Baguio as it was tagged by UNESCO as one of the 64 Creative Cities chosen worldwide. Out of 44 countries, Baguio is the only city hailed from the Philippines as it preserves its culture through Crafts and Folk arts.
Baguio City is truly world class, and almost every corner of it is worth visiting. If you just love to reunite with nature and enjoy the peace it brings, you can stop by these tourist spots that everyone else is looking forward to going.
Botanical Garden is like a mini-version of Vegas, where several landmarks inspired from foreign countries are put in one place. It only takes you hours to travel half of the world!
Camp John Hay is one of the most iconic places in the city. It is sometimes called as the little Baguio within Baguio for it preserves a wide land full of pine trees. Jogging around the place feels like you are in a western country, and more tourist spots and food hubs are just around the corner for you to go when hunger strikes.
BenCab Museum is located in the foggy mountain of Asin. It features contemporary and Cordilleran art by the national artist Ben Cabrera. The four-level museum has a beautiful café at the lowest floor named after Sabel, who is the subject of almost every artwork. How romantic, isn’t it?
Mount Costa is the newest nature attraction opened in La Trinidad, Benguet. This features 100 species of flowers that are arranged into a whimsical garden that is truly Instagram-worthy. Bring out the Alice in you and delve into this Wonderland where nature and art meet to create magic.
Feed your tummy
The city is the center of produce from Benguet and the neighboring provinces, so there are a wide variety of greens to choose from if you love to cook. But if you are that person who just loves to eat like we all are, it is a crime if we forget to suggest where you could fill up your stomach.
The variety of cuisines from restaurants can be overwhelming for the first time tourist. From local and traditional Filipino food to international specialties, you’d probably take a hard time choosing which restaurant to enter.
Korean, Japanese and Chinese restaurants have sprouted like mushrooms while Vietnamese, Mediterranean and Middle East dishes are becoming more accessible. If you wish to go for the more sophisticated and fancier meal, Greek and Italian restaurants have also started spreading in the city of pines.
There is a taste of home in every corner you turn. Whether it’s a restaurant or a café you are looking for, you can find more even just by walking around. Baguio is a literal food hub, so check out the other delicious dishes and desserts waiting on the table.
Explore the Mountains
If you are the type of person who easily gets bored sitting on a table drinking a hot cup of coffee, just remember that Baguio city is made of mountains connected to other mountains! That means adventure is just nearby. So pack up your things and hike away today.
Mt Ulap is a daytime hike with 6-7 hours of trail to take. It has 3 peaks to reach, all of which showcase beautiful views filled with grassland, tall pine trees, and rock formation. Take note of the Gungal Rock which can make you badass in the camera because of its steepness. Mt Ulap will remind you of the fog-kissed landscapes of Scotland that it became a favorite next to…
Mt Pulag has the highest peak in Luzon and is the third highest mountain in the Philippines. The locals of Benguet call it the ‘playground of the gods’ because of its jaw-dropping sceneries and rich biodiversity. Mountaineer or not, everyone wants to climb this mountain to witness the ‘Sea of Clouds’ which Mt Pulag is known for.
Sagada Caves ¬maybe the adventure you are looking for. Go inside the caves will definitely test your strength and heart, wherein the reward is an experience you won’t forget. Just in case it is too extreme for you to do, you can go and see the Blue Soil Hills and Hanging Coffins still in Sagada that are equally mesmerizing.
Banaue Rice Terraces is made up of 2000-year old mountains carved by hands – that means the tribesmen didn’t use any technology. Its marvelous sight and historical significance caused it to be called ‘The Eighth Wonder of the World.’
Get Out of the Mountains
Now, if you are tired of the mountains, that’s not a problem. Just because Baguio is in the mountains doesn’t mean that you can’t go elsewhere. It is worth noting that Baguio is a door that leads to other provinces and rest of the places nationwide. Remember that the Philippines is comprised of more than 7600 islands, you have many options where to go. Adventure is literally endless!
Here are a few:
La Union is the closest province to Baguio. With a short time of travel, you can go to the beach of San Juan where nice waves hit the shore, a perfect place for swimmer, sun-worshippers, and those who are beginners in surfing. You can also enjoy a dip at the quiet pebble beaches or at Tangadan Falls.
Ilocos is located at the fringe of Luzon Island, so it is not surprising that it’s full of beautiful beaches! Some of the options are Saud Beach or Blue Lagoon in Ilocos Norte and Cabugao Beach or Santiago Cove in Ilocos Sur. The region also has many heritage sites such as the churches built in Spanish era and Vigan City now known as one of the new wonders of the world.
Nueva Ecija is an underrated province in terms of tourism since it is known as the Rice Granary of the Philippines. One of its hidden gems is the Minalungao National Park that boasts a protected river as clear as crystal! Another is Pantabangan Lake that fits your Instagram goals.
Pangasinan also has a lot of beaches and natural water parks for you to plunge in. The most popular are the Hundred Islands and the white sand beach of Patar. Other beaches that are less crowded yet hold the same captivating view are Tambobong Beach, Agabatanen Beach, and Cabongaoan Beach.
Zambales may give you 5 hours of travel but surely you will be rewarded by its beautiful coves that everyone fell for. It boasts 7 beautiful beaches that you can choose from: Pundaquit Beach, Anawangin Cove, Nagsasa Cove, Camara Island, Capones Island, Talisayin Cove, and Silanguin Cove.
These are enough entries of tourist spots for starters, so you better fill in your calendar with these travel destinations. However, we have to remind you again that there are still a lot of places not included and paradises undiscovered. This list can go on but you won’t be able to see all of them if you don’t choose Baguio as your temporary home. It all starts in Baguio City.
