What started off with just an idea, became a successful event. Not only did it helped our environment but it unified the people of Baguio and Mongolia.
The idea came to light on June 2019 by dedicated tourists from Mongolia after observing the pollution brought by tourists and locals alike. They organized an event that encouraged the people’s participation in cleaning up the litter around the city. They provided the volunteers with the necessary equipment such as gloves, masks, trash bags and even t-shirts as souvenirs with the generous support of their organization, World Plus.
With the help of almost 300 people, they have successfully cleaned 7 of the most polluted areas in Baguio and have donated to two hundred (200) children from Irisan Dumpsite and Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center.
This is what they have to say after a successful event;
“To clean our beloved city, it is not necessary to clean it for just 7 days. When we went to the place where we have cleaned the first day, It was already polluted again. What we want to deliver is everyone can try a little bit more to make change. This is not the only thing done by five Mongolian guys. Also, the environmental problem in the Philippines is not just your country’s problem. We all live in the same world. The world alone, we are 7 billion. Imagine what happens if 7 billion people try for one thing.
We hope to continue the journey as much as we can. The city of Baguio was our starting point. I’ve traveled to several countries in the past by different purpose, but nowhere near as sweet as Baguio’s. This is on what we did for the city.” (who???) -Yesu

They toured the academy’s features including; their group classrooms, one-on-one classrooms, canteen, and other student facilities. Leading the tour was their Korean student,  Anna who was very kind and enthusiastic whilst guiding us around the school.
    The tour started at the reception area where Anna explained all the paper works for students to fill up. She also introduced the hardworking staff working in that section. She then proceeded to the classrooms and explained each type depending on the program the student took.
The rooms were then presented, showing off 4 bunk beds with complete and quality amenities for their students. Their rooms provide an academically conducive environment as well as a stunning view of pine trees outside the building.

Last November 30, 2019 (Saturday), the 3+1 students participated in an out-of-campus activity that helped them put their English skills to use! Together with their teachers who organized the activity, they headed to one of Baguio’s most well-known parks located at the center of the city, Burnham Park!
Proudly carrying the Monol banner, it was time to put what the students had learned to the test! For the day’s activity, they were to compete in an ‘Amazing Race’ with various challenges. Based on the actual reality television show, the students needed to complete certain tasks to finish the game.
The tasks, which were centered on effectively communicating in English, enabled the students to step out of their comfort zones and engage in conversation with the locals and tourists at the park. One of the easier challenges in the game was to buy any product at the location which was below 50 pesos.
  With this, the students had to ask around and look for a product that fit the set budget. Once they completed the challenge, they have to ask the locals or people that they interacted with to sign their task cards as proof of completion.
Other tasks included interviewing a vendor with a set of questions, asking for directions towards the park’s skating rink, and even asking couples around the park how they will be spending their Christmas together.
  As the students conquer one challenge after another, they gain new experiences especially when it comes to using English in real-life interactions. This way, they naturally build their confidence in using and speaking English with foreigners as well as being able to put what they’ve learned into practice.
Of course, to make this experience even more memorable, the students took selfies with the people that they talked to. To end a successful and delightful day, the 3+1 students and teachers enjoyed eating together at the Filipino-favorite fast-food chain, Jollibee!
Monol’s 3+1 program enables students to learn English through diverse and engaging activities. Through this program, the school helps students learn English even outside of their classrooms.

As a special Friday treat for the students, teachers, and staff at Monol, the academy arranged a little Zumba session on October 25, 2019.
Led by Monol’s very own Yoga and fitness instructor, Ma’am Cindy,
the activity was scheduled after class and work hours at 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM. To make it more accessible to those interested to join, the activity was held in the school’s lounge.
Zumba is a simple yet great way to get moving. Undeniably, day to day activities like sitting in class or doing desk work can get sedentary. So, with this exercise as well as other fitness programs in Monol, the school hopes to promote an active lifestyle.
The activity centers on the theme ‘All you need is a beat to become fit.’ Those who joined the aerobic fitness exercise got to experience a fun full-body workout to upbeat music. Some benefits of Zumba include building endurance, improving cardiovascular fitness, burning calories and fat, plus better blood pressure.
Aside from that, Zumba is an easy and inclusive activity where everyone can get their blood pumping, socialize, and have fun. Meanwhile, when it comes to more ways to exercise and get fit, Monol has fitness and sports facilities available for use. These include a gym, yoga room, golf driving range and open basketball court!
Certain fitness programs are also available in the academy. To avail of these, students need to sign up for the classes that are taught by professional fitness instructors. These programs include Muay Thai, boxing, cardio boxing, body toning, yoga, and Pilates. Finally, when the workout is over, Monol also provides a sauna where students can relax their tired muscles.
The academy supports not only the academic side of student life, but also their health and fitness. With this, Monol strives to make it easy for students to live and learn during their stay in Baguio.
Moving To The Music: Zumba at Monol 2019 As a special Friday treat for the students, teachers, and staff at Monol, the academy arranged a little Zumba session on October 25, 2019.

La Union is one of the many provinces you can visit that is close to Baguio. Unwind and enjoy the beaches or go on thrill-seeking adventures, either way, you’re sure to have a memorable time.
Here are 5 things to try on your trip to La Union;
Surf
One of the many favored places that people would visit when they want to relax and have fun on their vacation is the beach. In San Juan, you can swim around and get a tan while enjoying the waters or eat grilled seafood by the shores while meeting new people. But one of the most famous activities done here is the surface water sport called surfing which is why it has been dubbed as the Surfing Capital of the Northern Philippines
ig: msandsuv
The peak seasons for surfing in San Juan are around October to March where the waves are ideal for riding on a hot summer’s day. But the best time to go surfing is on October 25-27 where La Union holds its annual Surf Break event. The occasion features live music, water sports, and unlimited seafood, alcohol by the shore and surfing sessions with one of the best surfers in the province.
Day Activities In Surf Break
Night Activities in Surf Break:

The food scene in La Union is so diverse that you can have a taste of Mexican, Filipino, Mediterranean, Spanish, Greek, Balinese, American and a hint of French cuisine all in one place. Along the road of San Juan are food establishments lined up for different people of different tastes.

One of the Must-Try Places in La Union after a satisfying meal is Halo Halo de Iloko at San Fernando. They’re most famous for their twist on the Filipino dessert called Halo-Halo.
This is a Filipino dessert that consists of crushed ice, ube ice cream, and a mixture of various sweet ingredients such as sweetened beans and coconut strips. These are all served in a buko shell with a straw and a cute cocktail umbrella on top. The restaurant created their own version of the dessert by deep-frying this delight for curious customers to enjoy. They also offer the traditional halo-halo for you to try both!
See the Night Life
San Juan does not sleep after the picturesque sunset has turned to night, but lights up in different colors for individuals seeking a couple of cold beers and a good time at the most lively bars along the road.
One of the most popular places to chill is Flotsam Jetsam Hostel, which is an artistically designed place that hosts legendary parties every Saturday nights. The hostel showcases a bohemian ambiance and a hipster interior with good food and cold drinks.
