RV Sales To Be Banned Across Six States As California Climate Rules Take Effect
Diesel motorhome sales are set to be halted in several states at the start of next year due to a new climate rule from California being enacted, according to RVtravel.
Motorhome sales are being prevented in California, Washington, Oregon, New York, Massachusetts and New Jersey if the vehicles do not meet certain emission requirements based on regulations from the California Air Resources Board (CARB), according to RVtravel. CARB amended its Advanced Clean Truck regulations on Oct. 24, which require all vehicles over 8,500 pounds to produce zero emissions.
Motorhome owners in the six states will not be allowed to register a recreational vehicle (RV) that is not in compliance with the climate regulation, according to RVtravel.
California has enacted various green energy policies in recent years, including filing a major lawsuit against Chevron and other oil companies seeking climate change damages in September 2023 and enacting a landmark corporate emissions disclosure requirement in October 2023. The state has seen drastically higher gas prices amid its policies and regulations aimed at cracking down on fuel refiners.
The Biden-Harris administration has rolled out various electric vehicle (EV) policies as part of President Joe Biden’s climate agenda, including introducing a strict tailpipe emissions rule in March that would require about 67% of all light-duty vehicles sold after 2032 to be EVs or hybrids. The president has been leading a push to build 500,000 public EV chargers nationwide by 2030, but the initiative has so far been majorly delayed.
Various American automakers have scaled back EV-related plans amid a lack of consumer demand. Toyota’s North American Chief Operating Officer Jack Hollis recently criticized policies promoting EV adoption, citing “impossible” standards.

Reliable Truck Scale Repair Services in Oregon and Washington
Importance of Truck Scale Accuracy
Accurate truck scales are vital for businesses that need to monitor the weight of their shipments. Whether transporting raw materials, goods, or equipment, any deviation in weight can lead to financial losses or legal complications. A miscalibrated scale can cause under- or overloading, resulting in penalties or unsafe driving conditions. Therefore, ensuring regular Truck scale repair Oregon can save businesses from costly errors and keep their operations running smoothly.
Truck scales that are not functioning correctly can lead to a variety of problems:
Inaccurate billing or invoicing based on incorrect weight measurements.
Legal issues stemming from overweight trucks that violate transportation laws.
Unnecessary wear and tear on vehicles due to incorrect load distribution.
Safety hazards caused by improperly loaded vehicles.
Thus, frequent calibration and repairs are essential to maintaining efficiency and compliance.
Common Issues with Truck Scales
Truck scales operate in tough environments, exposed to constant heavy loads, fluctuating weather conditions, and often rough handling. As a result, they are prone to several common problems, including:
Mechanical Damage
Over time, the constant loading and unloading of trucks can cause mechanical parts of the scale to degrade. Components such as load cells, steel decks, and foundations may show signs of wear, affecting the overall performance of the scale. If these issues are not addressed immediately, they can lead to more significant damage, resulting in costly replacements or extended downtime.
Regular truck scale repair in Washington can help identify mechanical issues early, allowing businesses to replace or fix damaged components before they become a serious problem.
Calibration Issues
Truck scales must be correctly calibrated to provide precise weight measurements. Even a small calibration error can lead to inaccurate data, affecting billing and compliance. In many cases, scales can fall out of calibration due to factors like weather changes, constant use, or physical damage. Proper calibration during routine maintenance checks can resolve these issues and keep your operations running smoothly.
Calibration is also necessary for regulatory compliance. Regulartruck scale repair in Oregon ensures that your scales meet legal standards, avoiding fines and other penalties.
Electronic Malfunctions
Modern truck scales often include advanced electronics for better accuracy and reporting. However, these electronic systems can also face issues like power surges, software glitches, or sensor failures. When this happens, your scale may stop functioning correctly or may not record accurate data. Professional technicians can quickly diagnose and fix these issues, keeping your scales in top condition.
Benefits of Professional Truck Scale Repair
Prevent Costly Downtime
Truck scales that are out of order can cause significant downtime for businesses. For companies that rely on these scales to weigh goods before shipment, even a few hours of downtime can disrupt schedules and lead to financial losses. Hiring experts for Truck scale repair Washington ensures that any issues are resolved promptly, reducing potential downtime.
Enhanced Safety
Accurate truck scales are critical to ensuring that trucks are not overloaded, preventing accidents on the road. Overloaded trucks can be dangerous, causing vehicle instability, braking issues, and tire blowouts. By addressing any issues with your truck scales through routine maintenance and timely repairs, you can enhance the safety of your drivers and other road users.
Compliance with Regulations
Both Oregon and Washington have strict regulations regarding the weight of trucks on public roads. Businesses must ensure that their truck scales are functioning correctly to avoid penalties or fines for violating weight limits. Regular truck scale repair in Oregon and Washington ensures compliance with these regulations, giving you peace of mind that your operations are in line with legal requirements.
Prolong the Life of Your Truck Scale
Truck scales are a significant investment, and like any other piece of equipment, they require proper maintenance to extend their lifespan. Regular inspections, calibration, and repair services can help prevent the need for expensive replacements. By choosing professional truck scale repair in Washington, businesses can protect their investment and avoid the high costs of purchasing new scales.
Choosing the Right Truck Scale Repair Service
When it comes to truck scale repair, it’s essential to select a reliable service provider with the experience and expertise to handle various types of scales. A professional team will have the necessary tools and knowledge to diagnose issues accurately, perform calibrations, and make repairs efficiently.
Additionally, the right service provider will offer emergency repair services, ensuring that your operations can get back on track quickly in case of unexpected scale malfunctions. Look for companies that offer comprehensive maintenance plans, including regular inspections and calibrations, to keep your truck scales performing optimally.

Super Pacific Announces X1 Camper Compatible with Rivian R1T Electric Pickup Truck
Tumblr media
Oregon-based Super Pacific becomes one of the first aftermarket gear makers to offer a camper shell and rooftop tent compatible with the all-electric Rivian R1T pickup truck.
Overlanding in electric vehicles is gaining traction, and Super Pacific, a camper shell and rooftop tent manufacturer based in Oregon, is leading the charge by announcing a product designed specifically for the Rivian R1T electric pickup truck. The company has expressed its admiration for Rivian's innovation and ambition, prompting them to take on the design challenge of an X1 Camper for the R1T. Super Pacific is now seeking ten Rivian owners to place deposits on the system before commencing production.
While technical details are still being finalized, the camper is expected to closely resemble the X1 setup currently available for mid and full-size trucks, with modifications to accommodate the unique features of the Rivian R1T.
youtube
Super Pacific's Construction Methods and Features of the X1 Camper
Super Pacific's construction methods draw inspiration from aircraft manufacturing, resulting in lightweight yet structurally rigid designs. The X1 Camper features a wedge-style hardshell rooftop tent that extends over the truck's cab from the hard-mounted bed canopy. It can comfortably accommodate two adults on an inflatable Exped mattress.
For cold-weather camping, Super Pacific offers a quick-install "ThermaPuff" insulation kit for the tent section. The X1 also includes side and rear access panels that can be locked from both the inside and outside for added security. Molle panels allow for the attachment of various gear or interior options.
The tent floor and cargo panels can be repositioned to create weather-protected standing height headroom when the tent is not in use. Additionally, Super Pacific offers a range of awnings, bike racks, and other accessories to outfit the X1 Camper. The retail price for the X1 is $14,495.
Model-Specific Modifications and Pricing
The Rivian version of the X1 Camper will feature model-specific modifications to accommodate the layout of the Rivian R1T's truck bed and electric powertrain. While no specific details regarding the modifications were mentioned in the press release, Super Pacific did state that the Rivian-compatible camper will be more expensive than the standard models. However, the first ten customers will have the opportunity to purchase the Rivian-compatible camper at the regular price.
Pricing for subsequent units has not been announced.
The Rise of Electric Overlanding
Electric pickup trucks, including the Rivian R1T, Ford, Chevrolet, and Tesla Cybertruck, are fueling the growth of electric overlanding. Overlanding in electric trucks offers several advantages, such as the built-in power supply that can run lights, appliances, and charge various battery-powered devices. The Rivian R1T boasts a range of 210 to over 400 miles, depending on the configuration, making it suitable for extended off-grid adventures.
Super Pacific's announcement of the X1 Camper compatible with the Rivian R1T electric pickup truck highlights the growing trend of electric overlanding. With its innovative design, lightweight construction, and array of features, the X1 Camper offers Rivian owners the opportunity to embark on off-road adventures with comfort and convenience. As electric pickup trucks continue to gain popularity, the demand for specialized aftermarket gear, such as the X1 Camper, is expected to rise, catering to the unique needs of electric overlanding enthusiasts.

What Factors Impact the Cost of Shipping Cars Across the Country?
Tumblr media
If you've ever had to relocate your vehicle to a new home across the U.S. or ship a car to a child going off to college out-of-state, you know first-hand this can be a stressful and costly process. Unlike moving your household items in a rental truck that you drive yourself, very few people attempt to transport a car more than a few hundred miles on their own.
It leaves Auto Transport Portland Oregon servicesas the go-to solution for securely and cost-effectively moving your vehicle between distant states while you fly or drive separately. However, car shipping quotes can vary drastically between transport companies for the same shipment. What gives?
Knowing what elements influence price will help you plan budgets accurately, compare transporter rates fairly on bids, and avoid surprise charges. Let's examine the essential specifics determining how much you'll pay when relocating a car interstate.
Transport Distance & Route Density
The total ground miles between your planned car loading point and drop-off destination are among the most significant factors in deciding transport fees across providers. Longer distances mean more truck fuel operating costs, more road days, and fewer transport loads possible for the driver.
Always provide accurate pickup and delivery addresses when requesting interstate car shipping quotes for the most realistic rate assessment based on precise transport mileage.
Seasonal Rates & Timing Flexibility
Seasonality also impacts car shipping rates across the transport sector, like airfare and hotels. Besides seasonality, longer lead time flexibility also rewards those not needing a vehicle rushed cross-country on short notice.
Carriers rely on advance bookings to plan efficient routing and loading logistics. Last-minute quotes often come saddled with steep premium surcharges and unfavorable route limitations.
Vehicle Type, Size, Condition & Custom Needs
Car shippers utilize specialized trailers and equipment for transporting passenger Vehicle Shipping in Kentucky of typical proportions and ground clearance. Moving something like a Lamborghini or vintage Porsche across the country requires custom-fitted single-car enclosed trailers, not just standard open-air rigs designed to carry 4+ vehicles stacked in a row.
This premium equipment costs transport businesses way more - costs passed along in quoting. Similarly, oversized pickup trucks, SUVs, and luxury models take up more space, limiting total loads per transit. Less space means fewer client payments available to spread fixed business costs and compensate drivers. Thus, outsized personal trucks often tally higher quotes.
Insurance Requirements & Contract Protection Terms
Asset protection provides mandatory baseline reassurance on all interstate vehicle relocation quotes from licensed, bonded carriers specializing in automotive transportation. But increased policy liability limits, deductibles, exclusions clauses, and other unique cases, including antique cars, often warrant extra underwriting with specialized brokers.
Providing and administering customized insurance costs the car shipping industry real dollars - expect enhanced coverage to drive rate variances between basic policies designed for typical modern vehicles versus rare collectible Shipping Cars Across the Country and luxury brands where owners rightfully demand superior protection.
Besides baseline insurance rates, comparing the full contractual terms and company reputation provides qualitative indicators of distinctions in proper safety.
Terminal Shipping, Door-to-Door, or Enclosed Transport
Auto transport companies traditionally utilize two primary vehicle pickup and delivery methods to control costs and maximize route loads: More affordable terminal shipping or premium door-to-door service. Terminals in most major metro and strategic rural zones offer centralized depots where multiple drivers rendezvous based on routing convenience compared to individual stop-offs.
For those unwilling, unable due to vehicle inability, or prefer not to navigate their vehicles to and from shipping depots, door-to-door delivery provides ultra-convenient curbside end-point handling but at a premium cost. This customized, driver-intensive service competes for time that could be spent loading more vehicles if utilizing efficient terminals.
Current Pump Prices & Driver Shortages
It comes as no surprise that steep diesel costs directly hit transport companies' margins. Fuel ranks among the most significant variable operating expenses in ground shipping - including vehicles like expensive motor coaches. Be sure to factor in worst-case fuel scenarios when budgeting fixed quotes or consider open-ended quotes allowing fuel cap transfer if pump prices spike mid-shipment en route.
Wrapping Up!
This clarifies why seemingly similar car shipping quotes can deviate wildly between service providers and even day-to-day from the same company. Component costs outside the basic route mileage play pivotal roles in move valuations. As with many complex services, you get what you pay for when priorities include protecting cherished automotive assets or requiring premium handling.
Yet regardless of budget, all shippers deserve assurance that jalopies and Lamborghinis alike receive secure, caring transport treatment from loading to safe delivery miles away by screened, experienced professionals. Established brands like, specializing exclusively in car transportation, manage intricate logistics so you simply drive off stress-free into new adventures at the move's end.

Offsite rental locations requiring a shuttle ride also serve Portland Airport. Cost to Rent a Car at PDX Airport Daily rental car rates at PDX vary by vehicle type, demand seasons, booking timing, and added services. Here are typical sample PDX rates: Car ClassAverage Cost Per DayEconomy$45 - $75Compact$50 - $85Midsize$70 - $120Standard SUV$100 - $175Full Size$125 - $225 Renting for a full week lowers the per day rate, while add-ons like GPS or extra insurance increase costs. Always compare total quote pricing across rental companies. How to Get the Cheapest PDX Car Rental The key strategies for securing the lowest rental rates include: Advance booking - Reserve 21-56 days prior to pickup for best rates on travel weeks. Last minute deals can happen too. Prepay - Paying upfront yields discounts over pay later options. Just ensure prepaid fee is refundable if plans change. Price compare - Check rates across all on-airport and local Portland rental companies. Significant variances exist. Rental coupons - Search for Portland Airport rental coupon codes which offer percent savings off base rates. Join loyalty programs - Sign up for rental company member programs to receive discounted member pricing. Limit insurance - Decline extra insurance if your own auto policy or credit card covers rentals. Taking advantage of these savings opportunities yields the best PDX rental car values. Insider Tips for the Cheapest PDX Car Rentals In addition to general money saving strategies, utilize these Portland Airport specific hacks: Rent just off-airport to avoid airport fees and taxes adding 10-25% to costs. Book one-way rentals with downtown pickup and airport dropoff to dodge surcharges. Join rental corporate codes for discounted business, government and org rates. Reserve larger vehicles like vans and trucks which have lower demand and better deals in Portland. Consider Turo, GetAround or other car share apps for hourly rentals under 4 hours. PDX rental prices are lowest in Jan-Feb off-season and higher in peak summer. Doing homework on the Portland market unlocks extra savings opportunities. Added Fees to Watch For on PDX Rentals While base rates may seem reasonable, extra charges at the rental counter can balloon costs. Watch for fees like: Airport concession recovery fees - 11.1% added tax Vehicle licensing recovery fees - $2 per day passed on cost Energy recovery fees - $1 per day for fuel costs Additional driver fees - $10-$15 per day f
or other drivers. Young renter surcharges - Under 25 upcharges Late return or early return - Outside grace period adds extra day Understand the full rate details to avoid surprises tacking on fees upon pickup. Age Requirements for PDX Car Rentals Most rental companies at Portland Airport require drivers to be at least 21 years old, with those under 25 incurring daily surcharges around $25. Some policies include: Alamo/National - Minimum age 21, fee for under 25 Avis - Minimum age 25 to avoid young renter fee Budget - Age 21 but charge added under 25 fee Dollar - Age 20 with hefty young driver surcharge Hertz - Minimum rental age 20 with additional fee So while legally able to rent at 18 or 19 in Oregon, underage additional charges make it far more expensive. Driver’s License Requirements for PDX Car Rentals Along with the minimum age requirements, renting a car at Portland Airport requires: Presenting a valid driver’s license License must have been held for at least 1 year License must be in renter's name matching reservation International travelers require valid foreign license and passport Some rental locations also accept other officially-issued IDs like passports. Double check qualifications before booking to avoid issues at pickup. Debit Cards for PDX Car Rentals Most PDX rental locations accept valid debit cards to reserve and pickup vehicles with some caveats: Debit card must have either the Visa or Mastercard logo Card holder's name must match the reservation Some insurers restrict debit cards for renters under 25 Available credit limit must cover rental deposit amount Proof of return travel like airline ticket may be required Calling rental branches directly in advance regarding debit card policies prevents problems. Bring a backup credit card just in case. Insurance Requirements for PDX Car Rentals Oregon law requires minimum liability limits of 25/50/20 for rented vehicles. However, most rental companies include basic liability coverage in their base rates. Consider extra products: Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) - Covers damage to rental car. Optional if you have adequate personal auto insurance and credit card coverage. Supplemental liability - Extra liability beyond state minimums for around $10 per day. Personal accident - Provides medical coverage for driver and passengers similar to PIP. Accepting extra coverage may make sense depending on your existing insurance policies. But it quickly escalates rental costs. One Way Airport Rentals at PDX Renting one-way with pickup downtown and dropoff at PDX airport (or vice versa) adds convenient flexibility. However, significant one-way fees typically apply: Alamo charges $250 one way between PDX and downtown Portland Avis tacks on $200 for a Portland airport one way Budget adds $200 plus $20 per day for a PDX one way Hertz slaps on $250-$300 depending on final dropoff location Sometimes regular rates can be cheaper than one-way base rates plus the additional airport fees. Check both options. Weather Considerations for PDX Car Rentals Portland's rainy climate demands extra caution driving rental cars: Add supplemental liability insurance for peace of mind if unfamiliar driving in wet conditions. Inspect tires carefully and request an alternate vehicle if treads seem inadequate for slick roads. Adjust driving habits by reducing speed, increasing following distance, and avoiding sudden braking or acceleration. Turn off wipers and lights upon returning rental to prevent battery drain or fire risk. Taking a few extra precautions ensures your PDX rental experience goes smoothly despite Portland's infamous rainfall. Alternative Portland Transportation Options Besides renting a car, Portland offers affordable transportation alternatives: MAX Light Rail – Links PDX to downtown and suburbs. $2.50 per ride. Trimet Buses – Extensive metro Portland bus system. $2.50-$5 per trip. Uber/Ly
ft – Rideshares to or from airport average $35 each way. Taxis – $40 flat rates from PDX to downtown Portland plus tips. Biketown Bikeshare – Bike rental stations around the city. $0.15 per minute. Crunching numbers on total trip costs helps choose the best local transportation deal. Best Rental Cars for Portland Sightseeing When renting a car to tour Portland attractions, these vehicle types make sense: Compact Cars – Easy parking at sites like the numerous food truck pods around the city. Decent fuel economy for cruising around. Convertibles – For enjoying sunny days with the top down on the scenic Historic Columbia River Highway. SUVs – Provide more seating and cargo room when traveling with family. Help access hiking trailheads. Sports Cars – Fun splurge for driving along twisty riverside roads outside the city. Choose a rental to match your Portland itinerary plans and group size needs. Early Bird vs Last Minute Portland Airport Rental Deals Early Bird Benefits Guaranteed availability of car class needed Lock in lowest base rental rates More prepaid discount opportunities Advance chance to find coupon codes Less stress about arrangements Last Minute Benefits Possible grab leftover inventory not booked Take advantage of rate drops due to low demand weeks No change fees if trip gets cancelled or altered Can base decision on accurate weather forecasts Booking early brings peace of mind while waiting for last minute deals poses risks. Weigh options carefully when timing Portland Airport rental reservations. Portland Airport Rental Car Return Tips Follow these handy tips when returning your PDX rental vehicle: Have your rental agreement handy to reference upon arrival. Return with a full tank of gas to avoid refueling charges. Arrive early and give yourself ample time to walk to the rental counter - PDX is a huge airport! Note exact mileage and tank level on printed return receipt. Double check no personal items are left behind in car. Inspect vehicle with agent for any new damages needing documentation. Only exit the vehicle when instructed to avoid additional rental days being charged. Properly closing out your PDX rental and catching departing flights gets easier following this guidance. How to Save Money on Portland Airport Parking Parking on-site at PDX can be pricey. Ways to reduce parking costs: Use PDX economy lots and garages instead of terminal and short-term parking. Compare daily vs weekly airport parking rates based on the full trip length. Use off-airport private lots with free airport shuttles for extended trips. Have someone drop you off/pick you up at departures instead of leaving a vehicle parked. Ask your hotel about package deals to add discounted airport parking to room bookings. Avoiding the high daily terminal garage rates saves a bundle on parking expenses. FAQs What is the cheapest car rental company at PDX Airport? Off-airport rental providers like Advantage Rent a Car often have the lowest total rates once airport fees are factored in. Does PDX Airport assess extra rental car fees? Yes, rentals picked up at PDX pay an 11.1% airport concession recovery fee plus a $2 per day vehicle license fee. How old do I need to be to rent at Portland Airport? Most agencies require renters to be at least 21 years old. Those under 25 will pay added daily surcharges. Can I take a PDX rental car into Washington State? Yes, just notify the rental counter at pickup that you plan to cross the border so proper registration documents are provided. Are there any car rental options at the PDX MAX train station? Unfortunately there are not rental facilities directly at the MAX Red Line PDX airport stop. You need to take the train into the terminal. #Wiack #Car #CarInsurance #CarRental #CarPrice #AutoLoans

There are plenty of weekends left with the release of Ferment Brewings Queen of Persica Downtime and their latest Top & Bottom ferment series beers.
https://bit.ly/46qpI7R image courtesy Ferment Brewing Company Press Release Hood River, Ore … At the height of summer in the Columbia Gorge, Ferment Brewing announces four specialty beers that give a broad range of beer lovers exactly what they’re looking for during the hot season. The beers, which are available beginning today, include Queen of Persica peach sour ale, Downtime Pale Ale collaboration with Grasslands BBQ, and the latest releases from the brewery’s Top & Bottom Ferment series — Garden Lager and Longstep Mantis WCIPA. Queen of Persica is a peach sour ale that spotlights Pacific Northwest golden peaches on a base beer that has a soft and approachable tartness. The brewery also added a dry hop charge of Hüll Melon hops complementing the stone fruit with melon undertones that pave the way for the complexities of the fruit to open up and shine through. At 5.6% ABV, Queen of Persica is decidedly a subtly nuanced crusher that quenches the drinker’s thirst rather than a slow sipping puckery beer. Originally released as a one-off beer in the summer of 2023, Ferment’s collaboration with Grasslands BBQ is back by request and will be available the remainder of the food cart’s season. Downtime Pale Ale is an unfiltered American Pale Ale with Talus and Hallertau Blanc hops that, at 4.5% ABV, is perfect for washing down Grassland’s famous barbecue. Need to grab it quickly while in line at Grasslands? Ferment sells cans at the beer bike adjacent to the food truck on the lawn behind the brewery. Longstep Mantis WCIPA and Garden Lager are the newest offerings in the brewery’s Top & Bottom Ferment series, which sees the simultaneous release of a bottom fermenting lager and a top fermenting ale. These two beers celebrate the height of the growing season in the Pacific Northwest and provide a look into what the brew teams want to drink while outside in the summer heat. Like the good fortune of a visit from the praying mantis, Longstep Mantis WCIPA will delight your senses with zesty grapefruit and mango notes but won't stick around for long. Longstep Mantis is a 6.5% ABV West Coast IPA brewed with Mosaic, Citra, Idaho 7 and Idaho Gem hops. Garden Lager is a crispy garden-hour, 5.2% ABV lager brewed with Hallertau Blanc, Tettnanger and Saphir hops, best enjoyed while watching tomatoes ripen. It has flavors similar to red clover, water cracker, and mild sage. Avis - Pickup desk on airport garage Level 4, take elevator from baggage claim. Budget - Counter situated upstairs Level 4 in short-term parking garage. Kiosks are also available in the baggage claim area to start the pickup process for some providers before heading to their desk.

6 Best Semi Truck Brands for a New Owner Operator - ELD Mandate
Tumblr media
The FTR Transportation Intelligence has estimated that 483,093 Class 8 (heavy-duty trucks) were sold in North America in 2018. For an owner-operator planning to start a trucking company, having a good truck is vital. The prospect of buying a new truck can be exciting as well as exhausting. With many different makes and models available in the market, it can be a task to decide which semi truck brand will be the best for a new owner operator. There is no universal choice that will suit all owner-operators. In this aspect, one size does not fit all. Finding the perfect truck depends on a number of factors.
Owning a truck can be a large investment. Thus, the decision has to look to the future. The truck should give solid service to the trucking company for at least a few years. The lifespan of an average truck is 10-12 years, but many owners do not keep a truck for that long. A truck is traditionally used for 5-6 years or 600,000 miles on average for long haul service. Most big trucking companies replace existing trucks with newer models after 3 years. They do this in an attempt to attract new drivers and retain old ones. This can help the trucking company to retain reliability, while keeping maintenance costs down. An average diesel truck generally comes with a warranty of 250,000 miles or 2 years. This warranty can be extended to 4-5 years or 500,000 miles. Generally, major trucking companies sell trucks when they have run for 400,000 to 600,000 miles. These used trucks are usually sent to the market where smaller companies/owner-operators buy them. The smaller trucking companies use these trucks until major maintenance is required. Most trucks can run for about 1,000,000 miles before major engine work is needed. This may vary depending on the make and model. If trucks are maintained diligently, they can run for a life-time. But that does require constant replacement of parts. The first truck can also be very special for many. Thus, it can be useful to weigh all options to find the perfect truck.
A understanding of what the owner-operator intends to do with the trucking company is important. A vision of the company will help in deciding on the right truck to start a trucking company with. Some of the many factors is what type of hauls the trucking company intends to undertake. Most trucks are categorized according to the hauls they do. A trucking company that plans to do short-hauls or daily hauls will not need a heavy-duty truck with a sleeper. While, a trucking company which plans to do long-hauls cannot operate with a simple truck. It’s cab has to be well equipped with a sleeper among other requirements. This will ensure that the truck driver can rest comfortably inside the truck so that hotels are not required each night. Also, for long haul trucks deciding a truck manufacturing company that offers prompt and reliable technical and mechanical support can reduce stress for the driver/owner. Read more on all the other things that are required to start a trucking business in 2020.
Here are the best truck brands for a new owner operator starting a trucking business:
KENWORTH
History
Kenworth Trucking Company was established in 1923. It was named after the surnames of the owners—Harry. W. Kent and Edgar K. Worthington. However, its journey began years before. In 1912, the brothers George and Louis Gerlinger established Gerlinger Motor Car Works in Portland, Oregon.  It was a car and truck dealership. In 1915, they had introduced their own truck, Gersix. It was steel framed and had the power of an in-line six-cylinder engine. Having this type of engine was a first for any commercial vehicle. It was ideal for logging. In 1916, the company relocated to Tacoma in Washington. It then came to the notice of Edgar K. Washington, a Seattle based businessman. He bought the company in 1917 along with his business partner Captain Frederick Kent. The company was renamed to Gersix Motor Company. Captain Kent retired from the company in 1919 and his son Harry became the new partner. In 1923, the Gersix Motor Co. was reincorporated to Kenworth, by joining ‘Ken’ and ‘Worth’. Kenworth was bought by The Pacific Car and Foundry Company (PACCAR) in 1945.
Brief Timeline of Vehicles for Kenworth
Kenworth is one of the oldest truck manufacturing companies of America. It was also the first company to install diesel engines in their vehicles in 1933. In 1936, they introduced their first sleeper cabs. In 1976, Kenworth incorporated a raised roof aerodyne sleeper which was a first in the industry. It set the new standard for driver comfort. In 1985, the T600 was launched which was the first aerodynamically enhanced semi-truck. It could run 10 miles per gallon. The subsequent launch of T660 further enhanced the line of vehicles from Kenworth. 2012 saw the launch of T680 boasting an incredibly smooth drive, better fuel economy, and advanced aerodynamics. The vocational truck, W990 was launched in the market in 2018.
Stardom
Kenworth trucks also got featured on the silver screen. In 1977, Smokey and the Bandit featured the W900. James Bond also drove the W900B in License to Kill, released in 1989. To commemorate this brush with stardom, Kenworth launched the 007 Limited Edition of W900L in 2015.
Why should a new trucking company consider Kenworth?
Even though PACCAR bought Kenworth, it continued to manufacture great models in the name of Kenworth. As a consequence, Kenworth’s heavy-duty trucks have been in the market for more than 70 years. There are many reasons why a Kenworth truck can be great to start a trucking company with:
It has decades’ worth of experience- It is very important for a new trucking company to trust the company for such an important purchase. Along with all the technological know-how, relying on an experienced truck manufacturing company is an added bonus.
Uses latest technology- Kenworth trucks use the latest applications and computer technologies to ensure a hassle-free drive. Kenworth’s advanced navigational system allows truck drivers to use Google applications. The navigational system is quite easy to use. It has an interface which is very similar to that of an Android device.
Comfortable interiors- The Kenworth trucks took the industry by the storm when they introduced sleeper cabs in 1936. Since then they have added to the driver comfort segment. Their cabs are roomy and spacious which makes the driver feel more comfortable. The raised roof in the on-highway trucks ensure that truck drivers can move more freely inside the cab. Having a spacious interior allows a driver to keep appliances like refrigerators and microwaves. Their W900 and T680 models are great favorites among seasoned truck drivers.
PACCAR Powertrain- Kenworth trucks use the PACCAR Powertrain. The PACCAR MX Engines are light in weight but extremely heavy-duty. This offers a B10 life of 1,000,000 miles. The purpose-built automatic transmission makes life on the road easier as well. PACCAR promises that their axles are the lightest in the industry. This ensures movement of loads in less effort.
Customizable options- Kenworth’s trucks can handle almost any sort of job. They have a variety of trucks, from medium-duty to heavy-duty. Their trucks cater to a shipping company as well as a construction company dealing with heavy loads. However, a trucking company can get models customized to suit its own unique requirements. Kenworth’s Bodybuilder can help trucking companies get customized models. This will be a huge plus for a new trucking company which has very specific requirements.
Web-based tracking of problems and help centers- Drivers using Kenworth trucks can get to know the source of any mechanical or technical problem with the vehicle. Moreover, drivers do not have to hunt around for help centers. They can easily navigate to the nearest help center with the help of a the Kenworth app. With 700 dealerships all across North America, help is usually close by.
Best Kenworth model for an owner operator to consider?
Tumblr media
Kenworth W900 above
Among the different models Kenworth has launched, the most preferred are the W900 and the T680. W990 was introduced in 2018 and is considered to be a sibling of W900. Most seasoned truck drivers like the Kenworth W900 Studio Sleeper. It is considered to be an ultimate long haul truck. It has a sleeper bunk of 86 inches. It has 565 horsepower and 1,854 lbs of torque. It is powerful and efficient. It’s customizable options also add to its popularity. It boasts an 18-speed transmission. The interior is roomy and comfortable. However, there are certain cons which have to be taken into consideration as well. For a new trucking company with a limited budget, W900’s can be quite expensive. For a new W900L with a 72-inch sleeper, the price is around $164,040. A W900L non-sleeper is priced around $151,451. Apart from the price factor, Kenworth W900 is quite difficult for new truck drivers to drive. In terms of the mechanism, it takes quite a bit of time for a newcomer to learn everything. Also, it is not very fuel economic with 5.0 miles per gallon. The overall weight of the W900L is quite a lot, especially with the studio sleeper model, which can be a negative for some drivers.
The next truck brand to consider for an owner operator is Volvo.
Volvo
History
The Volvo automobile company was founded by Assar Gabrielsson and Gustaf Larson in Sweden in 1924.  ‘Volvo’ means “I roll” in Latin. Gabrielsson was the economic and marketing man and Larson was the skilled mechanic. The first Volvo truck was built in Sweden in 1928. Volvo entered the American truck market with the launch of Volvo Titan, Volvo Starke and Volvo Viking in 1959. By the mid-1970s, through Volvo of American Corp., Volvo had established itself as an integral part of the American trucking industry. Volvo purchased some of the assets of White Motor Corp in 1981 and formed the Volvo White Truck Corp. The vehicles of Volvo White were sold under the nameplates of Volvo, White and Autocar. This gave Volvo not only truck assets but also White’s pan-American distribution network since until 1977, White was the distributer of Freightliner. Volvo solidified their presence in the American trucking market by entering into a joint venture with General Motors Corp in 1988. This led to the forming of the Volvo GM Heavy Truck Corp. The company’s name was changed to Volvo Trucks North America after Volvo bought all the shares of General Motors in Volvo GM.
Brief Timeline of Vehicles for Volvo
The most popular Volvo trucks are the VNR, VNL, VNX, VHD and VAH series. Coming a long way since its initial days, in 2011 Volvo had launched XE13, the fuel-saving powertrain package. Also in 2011, Volvo began the production of VNM models which can run on natural gas. In 2013, Volvo introduced the VNX heavy-haul models. In the same year Volvo made Volvo I-Shift. It has automated manual transmission which is the standard on all the models powered by Volvo now. Volvo’s North American Headquarters is in Greensboro. All Volvo VNM, VNL, VNX, VHD and VAH trucks are assembled in America. It is done at the New River Valley Plant in Dublin, Virginia. The engines are assembled in Hagerstown, and Maryland.
Why should a new trucking company consider Volvo?
Volvo is one of the largest truck manufacturing companies in the world. There are plenty of reasons why a new owner operator can opt for a Volvo truck:
Superior cab amenities- Volvo trucks have given a lot of attention to improving their cab’s interior. This ensures that the truck can become a home away from home for long haul drivers. With improved sleeping arrangements and spacious interiors, drivers will be less likely to feel claustrophobic. Some models have an adjustable steering wheel option. The steering wheel can be adjusted according to the height of the driver. It also has a tilt-neck option that ensures comfortable drives. The interior is also well insulated so that energy is conserved and distractions are reduced.
Table and chair set up in the interior- Volvo sleepers have the intelligent facility of a convertible table/bed set. That is, the top of the table can be lowered to make the bed’s platform. The trucks also have a table and chair set up. This makes it possible for drivers to change the concept of taking rest. Earlier, rest meant lying down. But with the ‘table and chair’ set up, a driver can sit up and watch something on their phone or have the perfect dining room set-up. This multi-functionality adds to the comfort of the truck.
Customizable interiors- Volvo does not believe that one type of truck will suit all driving needs. Volvo customizes their trucks’ interiors according to the specific requirements of the trucking company. Every trucking company's needs are unique and accordingly the layout of the interior has to be designed. This customizable option further allows the operators and owners to design the perfect fit for a new trucking business.
Intelligent features- The improved air suspension on the cabs makes driving extremely comfortable. The aerodynamic design also contributes to superior driving comfort. The improved LED lights promise better visibility and less maintenance. The cabs’ height is such that drivers can be more comfortable.
Improved Engine - The Volvo engines are light-weight and fuel efficient. They are designed and engineered in a way that reliability is improved.  This also minimizes the cost of ongoing operation for the truck driver.
Benefits of I-Shift transmission- The I-Shift transmission makes driving easier as it helps the driver adjust the way their trucks accelerate. It has a 2,300 lbs-torque rating. This technology helps to save fuel as it gives the optimal gear shift based on the engine load, speed of the truck, and other factors.
Safety of Remote Diagnostics- Volvo’s Remote Diagnostic ensures the safety of the driver whenever on the road. Wherever the driver may be or whatever the problem, many issues can be sorted out by the facility of the Remote Diagnostics. Through the Windows-based app called PTT or Premium Tech Tool, a driver can diagnose the problems. The driver can test, calibrate and program the engine limits. This hardware connects the truck to the PC of the driver via an e-media center.
Easy to maneuver- Volvo trucks are said to be easy to maneuver and as a result are easy to drive. This is especially helpful when drivers enter urban areas for a delivery.
Easy to drive- Similar to the comment above. According to many truck drivers, Volvo trucks are easy to drive for a new driver.
Environmentally friendly- Volvo offers the option of natural gas fueling in most new trucks. Volvo is moving towards alternative trucking and fueling options. This ensures lower carbon emissions of trucks.
Volvo has a worldwide well-knit dealership network- An owner operator driving a Volvo truck will have access to worldwide dealerships for maintenance and upkeep of the truck. This is a bonus for drivers hauling international load. With the support of a well-knit dealership network across the globe, a truck driver will not have to worry about keeping spares or different accessories.
Best Volvo truck model for a new trucking company
Tumblr media
Volvo VNL 760
The most popular Volvo trucks are the VNR and VNL models. The VNR models, launched in 2017, suit both the day trucker as well as the long haul trucker. The VNR 300 is an efficient and lightweight day cab. It’s short, sloped hood provides the truck driver a great view of the road ahead while making way through a crowded and congested work area. The VNR 400, a 42-inch flat-roof sleeper is best suited for overnight regional hauls where the height of the cab is an added advantage. In this model, an efficient sleeper is added as well. This allows a driver to easily drive out from busy loading sites or in time for industrial deliveries. The VNR 640 is a 61-inch mid-roof sleeper that is best suited for drivers who have to stay away from home for long stretches of time. It has extra space for relaxing and enough storage so that the living area of the cab looks nothing short of a mini-bedroom. The VNR and VNL models are run on the Volvo D11 and Volvo D13 engines. The D11 has an initial 325 hp and can move up to 425 hp at 1,550 lb-feet torque. Volvo D13 has twelve different power ratings, from 375 to 500 hp.
The VNL series offers further luxury and technical convenience to truck drivers. Launched in 2019, it is the latest Volvo has to offer. Volvo, in believing the fact that when drivers sleep better they work better, has made truck driving extremely comfortable. The VNL 760 is very spacious. It is also convenient for team driving. A driver of 6 feet 2 inches can easily sleep in the lower bunk. A driver of the same height will be able to sit up straight in the upper bunk with a lot of head room left. It has the Reefer seat with a refrigerator compartment just below it so that it is very easy for a driver to take out snacks and drinks. The modular cup holders allow cups and bottles of all width to be held.
Operators looking at a truck exclusively for heavy-hauls can opt for the VNX series. It is especially suited for long combination vehicles, logging and heavy equipment transport. The VNX series vehicles are available with up to 605 hp and a torque of 2,050 lb-feet. It has the Cummins X15 engine with a manual transmission or an Eaton UltraShift Plus.
One downside is that Volvo truck parts are quite expensive and sometimes they are hard to get as they have to be shipped from Europe. Expensive accessories that have to be shipped from Europe take a lot of time, which makes some truckers impatient.
The 2020 Volvo VNL64T860 costs around $151,521.
The next truck brand for an owner operator is the Freightligner.
FREIGHTLINER
History
David Hames, one of the former employees of the Freightliner trucks, says that Freightliner was started by an actual customer. This customer couldn’t find the truck that he wanted for making his business as profitable as it actually should be. It was observed in the 1930s that most heavy trucks lacked sufficient power to go up the steep grades in the western United States. It is then that the Consolidated Freightways, a traditional unionized carrier company, decided to produce their own trucks. Later, the company was named Freightliner Corp. Hence, Freightliners was a customer oriented company that wanted to do what nobody at the time did. The first model hit the roads in 1942. One of its creations, CabRoller, had one of the first sleeper cabs in the trucking industry. In May, 1981, it sold its manufacturing business and the Freightliner brand to Daimler-Benz. Daimler-Benz gave Freightliner Corp the stability that it needed at the time. It has now become a truck manufacturing company with more than 75 years of experience. According to the technical team of Freightliner, they use technology that is more common sense and market oriented. Cascadia, freightliner’s flagship highway tractor and its most popular model till date, was launched in 2007.
Brief Timeline of Vehicles for Freightliner
Initially, Freightliner produced ‘cab-over-engine’ trucks and later on launched consolidated trucks. The first consolidated Freightliner truck, FLC-120, was introduced in 1974. It had aluminum hoods to reduce weight. The updated FLC model was released in 1984. It was featured with integrated headlights, updated interiors and set-back axle models. It was a medium conventional truck with a bumper to back length of 112 inches. Interestingly, it had the cab of the then just launched Mercedes-Benz LK. This shows that Daimler had a role in the design and manufacturing of the truck. Freightliner’s FLD models were their first-ever aerodynamic models. In 1987, the Freightliner launched the FLD-112 and FLD-120. It was an all-aluminum body. It became the bestselling truck in North America. In 1990, the FLD Classic was released which was loved by many conventional truckers of the time. Freightliner launched the FLD Raised Roof Sleeper in 1992. It had what is today known as raised condo roof, which is an integrated stand-up sleeper. It was simply unthinkable and unheard of at that time. In the following year, FLD Classic XL with a 132 inches bumper to back body was launched. It gave stiff competition to Peterbilt 379 and Kenworth W900. However, the sales of FLD models gradually fell. In 2007, Freightliner launched Cascadia, its most popular model. It is aerodynamic and fuel-efficient due to its EPA engine. Its interior is quite roomy and is quieter than the previous Freightliner trucks by 2-6 db. It has fewer operating costs. It saved 20% drag and fuel costs.
Stardom
Freightliner trucks also had a brush with stardom. The FLD Classic XL got featured in films and TV shows like Disturbia, Tenacious D: The Pick of Destiny, The Dukes of Hazzard, and Forensic files.
Why should a new trucking company consider buying the truck brand Freightliner?
Efficient use- All the on-highway cab trucks are designed in such a way that they are aerodynamic. This increases the efficiency of the engine as the power can be used more efficiently in an aerodynamically designed truck.
Sturdy build- Its sturdy build allows it to transport a variety of loads. From local loads to heavy-duty hauls, it can take up almost anything.
Lightweight- These are lightweight trucks that allow easy maneuvering even with heavier loads.
Intelligent Horsepower- Freightliner on-highway trucks can take loads almost anywhere as horsepower of the truck ranges between 350 to 600 hp.
Rigorous safety checks- From the engineering studio to physical tests, all Freightliner trucks go through rigorous safety checks to ensure that a road-ready vehicle reaches the owner operator.
Alternative fuel option- Freightliner’s day cabs and sleeper cabs have the option of alternative fuel. It is a great choice for a company that wants to conserve conventional energy by opting for non-conventional sources of energy.
Detroit Powertrain technology- This is technology that co-ordinates the function of the engine, transmission and axles. This results in higher efficiency for the truck. It also ensures that the truck is more cost-effective by reducing the number of times a truck is taken in for repairs. The camera on the windshield and bumper mounted rader, ensures the safety of the truck driver. Learn more about additional trucking related technology like ELDs or Trailer Trackers.
Comfortable overnight temperature- The Detroit Assurance system gives about 34 hours of heating. It also provides 10 hours of cooling to the cab. This feature allows the driver to have a comfortable temperature at night during rest without having the engine on idle.
Superior support- Freightliner has dealerships across Northern America. Hence, support is easily and readily available.

Experienced truck drivers believe that Freightliner used to make some of the best trucks. Freightliner is not currently experiencing its best day. However, the Cascadia 2019 model can be a good choice for truck drivers who want to buy from a home-brand.
PETERBILT
History
Peterbilt was founded when it was realised that a truck of advanced engineering was required to work in the Northwestern forests. The transportation of cut trees from the forests to the mills was an exhausting process that took a lot of time. T. A. Peterman, the lumber tycoon decided that a heavy-duty vehicle was required to do the transportation job in shorter time and in an efficient way. Peterman purchased Fageol Motors, a failed Oakland-based company in 1938. He used its equipment to build custom truck chassis. He named the company after his own name. The first Peterbilt truck came out in 1939. Peterman launched models 334 and 260. They both had all-steel cabs. During WWII, Peterbilt served the country with its model 364. In 1944 Peterman passed away and his wife sold the company to its seven managers. In 1958, PACCAR (previously known as Pacific Car & Foundry) bought Peterbilt from its managers. PACCAR continued to produce trucks in the name of the parent company. This year, Peterbilt is celebrating its 80th anniversary.
Brief Timeline of Vehicles for Peterbilt
As mentioned above, Peterman built Model 334 and Model 260. Also, in WWII, Model 364 was built to serve the country. After WWII came to an end and the handover of the company was sorted out, Model 351 was launched in 1951. Around this time, the red and oval Peterbilt logo was designed and incorporated in all trucks. Model 351 enjoyed the longest production in the history of Peterbilt. Peterbilt began to transform its design with regards to innovation around the 1960s with the introduction of Model 352. It had a 900 tilt and an aluminum UniLite cab. The signature Peterbilt bird hood ornament was made a part of all the trucks with this model. In 1967, Model 359 was introduced which further enhanced the position of Peterbilt in the truck market. The Model 348 had given a keen emphasis on driver comfort with its spacious walk-through sleeper and a sloped fibre-glass hood. The Model 362 introduced the popular cab-over-hood design. In 1986, Peterbilt introduced to the trucking community its most iconic truck till date - the Model 379. It is also the most popular owner-operator truck in history. It is considered a trucking industry legend. In the shore-truck circuit, it is the most dominated vehicle. In the 1990s, Peterbilt wanted to expand further. It entered the medium duty truck market in 1995 with the Model 330. In 1998, the integrated cab and sleeper vehicle with an aerodynamic design, the Model 387 was launched. The Model 386, the first vehicle to be designated as environment-friendly and fuel-efficient by the United States Environment Protection Agency or the EPA, was launched in 2005. The Model 587 which took the concept of aerodynamic design to another level was introduced in 2011. In 2012, Peterbilt’s most technologically advanced truck, Model 579 was launched. Also, Peterbilt’s first rugged vocational truck, Model 567 was introduced. The Model 579 and Model 567 are the most successful Peterbilt products to date.
Why should a new trucking company consider Peterbilt?
Fast- Peterbilt has the power of PACCAR MX-13, which also makes the engine fuel efficient. This particular feature makes the Peterbilt trucks quite popular among owner-operators.
PACCAR MX-13 Powertrain- Matched with EPIQ technology, this powertrain ensures that the truck and all the computerized sensors work in sync. This perfect sync of technology with the truck mechanism allows the truck to carry loads in an efficient manner.
Safety assurance- Peterbilt trucks use SmartlLINQ remote diagnostics. It enables a truck driver to detect a problem. This smart detection of problems ensures that drivers stay safe and can solve the problem as early as possible.
Driver Performance Assistant (DPA)- Less experienced drivers at times have troubles on the roads. DPA is beneficial for these drivers as it provides real-time feedback. Displayed on the truck’s dashboard, this tool can be easily accessed by truck drivers to assess their performance while driving.
Fuel efficiency- The aerodynamic design of Peterbilt trucks makes them highly fuel efficient. PACCAR MX-13 engine ensures that the engine performs well too.
Alternative fuel options- Peterbilt offers trucks that not only run on diesel, but also on a number of alternative fuels. They can run on LNG (Liquid Natural Gas) or CNG (Compressed Natural Gas). Peterbilt was the first truck manufacturing company to get a truck (Model 386) designated environment-friendly from the EPA. They have gone a step further in their dedication towards the environment and have the option of hybrid electric engines. Hybrid electric engines are not usually found in commercial vehicles.
Sturdy and powerful trucks- Peterbilt trucks have a great combination of a powerful engine and a sturdy external built. This allows Peterbilt trucks to operate as dependable medium-duty as well as on-highway trucks.
SmartAir technology- This technology, with the aid of a remote condenser and a brushless fan, can keep sleeper cabs stay cool. This is an added bonus for truck drivers when they sleep. This also lowers fuel cost of the trucks.
Wide network of dealerships- Peterbilt has a wide network of dealerships across America. Truck drivers can get their vehicles serviced at any of these large numbers of dealerships.

It was re-introduced in 2018 with an integrated high roof along with a highly powerful and intelligent engine. This allows a driver to enjoy work and rest comfortably. This can be nice option for a trucking company looking for a truck which combines comfort with performance. A Peterbilt 579 Ultraloft can be pruchased for $160,460.
MACK
History
Mack trucks have a long and eventful history of 119 years. Jack and Gus Mack started Mack Trucks in 1900 in Brooklyn, New York. Together, they bought Fallesen & Berry - the carriage building company they used to work at. The first Mack vehicle, a sightseeing bus powered by an engine was launched in 1900. In 1902, the Mack Brothers Company was born. In 1911, the Mack Brothers Company merged with Sauer Motor Company, and formed the International Motor Company (IMC).
During WWI, about 4,500 Mack AC trucks were used. The British government bought 50 units of the Mack AC model to transport troops, equipment, and food. In 1917, Mack trucks got the nickname Bulldog Mack by British soldiers. The Mack truck reminded the soldiers of the British Bulldog due to its blunt-nose like hood and its durability. Hence, the bulldog became the company’s first corporate trademark. The U.S. army also made the Mack AC a 5-ton army truck. The present name, Mack Trucks, Inc. was taken in 1922. In WWII, Mack further helped America’s cause by building 4,600 powertrains for M3 Stewart and M4 Sherman tanks. It also built 26,000 six-wheel trucks and 4,500 5-ton four-wheel trucks. They also transported troops and other wartime supplies. In 1943, the body of a DC-3 aircraft was hauled by two Mack trucks from Houston to Dallas. The drive was over a distance of 340 miles. At that time, this haul was considered to be the widest and largest road haul. Mack trucks enjoyed large growth over the years. In 1979, Mack Trucks entered into an alliance with Renault. This agreement gave Mack access to the North American distribution of Renault’s medium-duty diesel trucks. 10% of Mack’s equity share was sold to Renault. Mack faced a number of harsh years in the 1980s. Volvo took over Mack Trucks in 2000, the centenary year for Mack. Since then, the production and assembling of all Mack vehicles have been shifted to the plant in Lower Macungie Township.
Brief Timeline of Vehicles for Mack
Mack trucks were popular during the two World Wars. It was America’s leading heavy-duty truck manufacturer for more than a century. Its sturdy trucks gave birth to the phrase “built like a Mack Truck.” Mack AB was the first standardized high volume unit and was launched in 1914. About 50,000 units were sold until it was discontinued in 1957. Mack AC was launched in 1916. It was a rear-drive, chain-driven model. Over 40,000 units were built till 1939.  The Model year Mack Trucks of 1918 had the first oil filters and air cleaners. The B series was developed in 1927 in response to the rising demand for a larger yet high-speed vehicle. In 1936 the E series was launched. It was a conventional medium duty truck with a cab-over trailer configuration. It is said to be one of the most versatile trucks that Mack has ever produced and sold over 78,000 units. Mack was one of the first truck manufacturers to apply a 4-wheel brake to its heavy-duty trucks. This helped improve safety during heavier loads. Mack launched its diesel engine in 1938. In the 1950s, the most popular truck was the B series. It was famous for its rounded appearance and the availability of a wide variety of models. A B-61 offered Thermodyne open-chamber direct injection diesel engine. This was more efficient and powerful. Nearly 127,000 units of the B series was sold. The diesel powered fire truck was introduced in 1956. The F Model, an all-steel cab-over model available in sleeper and non-sleeper was launched in 1962. In 1966, the R model was launched. From 1973-1983, Cruiseliner was produced. It was an owner-operator model in the cab-over configuration. Superliner, the premium conventional truck was launched in 1977 and was produced till 1993. In 1978, Mack MC & MR were launched. The industry’s first all-fiber, metal caged vehicle with a reinforced cab, the Ultraliner was launched in 1982. It showed advancement in corrosion resistance and cab weight. The CH model, one of the most popular of Mack’s highway trucks was introduced in 1988. In 1994, Mack LE was introduced. It is largely used in the recycling industry. The Vision model, a premium highway truck was introduced in 1999. Its primary use is in heavy-duty haul and liquid transport. In 2001, the Granite model, a lightweight, vocational truck was launched. In the same year, Freedom model, a medium duty versatile truck was introduced. Anthem, the aerodynamically built Mack truck was launched in 2017.
Stardom
Mack trucks have their own share of stardom too. In Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Megatron, the lead character is transformed into a military Mack truck. Disney’s Cars series has a semi-truck called ‘Mack.’
Why should a new owner operator consider buying a Mack?
Apart from being in the truck manufacturing industry for 120 years, Mack Trucks have a number of quality features that will attract an owner-operator of a new trucking company:
Practical trucks- Without extra adornment that might seem excess, Mack trucks have the right balance of technical and mechanical intelligence. The trucks are heavy-duty and versatile. The trucks have a 3-point entry option which allows a truck driver to easily climb into the cab without holding the steering wheel for support. This is convenient and practical. The self-cleaning feature ensures cleanliness in the truck without much hassle on the truck driver’s part.
Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) batteries- Mack trucks are equipped with AGM batteries which are designed to control drastic change in temperature or excess heat.
Superior engines- In 1967, Mack launched Maxidyne constant hp engine. It provided peak horsepower over a wider power band. This resulted in an increase in fuel efficiency. The E7 series of 12 liters engine was introduced in 1988. At present, Mack MP engines have a torque as high as 2,060 lbs. This high torque level and clean running engine ensures that less maintenance is required and higher fuel efficiency is maintained.
Alternative fuel options- Mack has an alternative fuel option of natural gas in their TerraPro and Day Cabs. Mack, in working with the EPA, has also maintained the emission standards set by the government.
Thoughtful design- Mack trucks have an ergonomic design. Almost all external sounds are blocked with the help of their sound deadening feature. With all the outside noise blocked, a driver can sleep more easily and more comfortably.
Sturdy exterior- Mack trucks have a 7mm thick frame rail which protects the truck by giving it a sturdy body.
Advanced technical assistance for truck drivers- Mack truck drivers have a number of advanced technical features that make driving on the roads safe and secure. All the faulty codes of the truck can be detected and relayed to the diagnostics via Mack’s Guard Dog. This ensures that all problems are sorted and the trip is not delayed. Mack also gives their clients the One Call Roadside Assistance. This feature provides help to driver wherever and whenever a problem arises.
Customizable- It is often seen that a truck designed by the manufacturer does not have all the features that a new trucking company needs. Mack’s Body Builder Manual is for those trucking companies. Through this manual, trucks can be customized according to the owner operator's requirements.
Wide network of dealerships- Apart from immediate help and assistance, a truck needs regular maintenance and occasional repairs. Mack’s dealerships are widely available not only in America but also in Canada and Mexico.

Mack Anthem, first launched in 2017 can be a great option for a new trucking company. Its aerodynamic design makes driving easier. Its steering wheel and seat height can be adjusted according to the height of the driver. All the controls can be reached from the driver’s seat. The high-roof cab allows a truck driver to stand up and stretch while taking a break. There’s a lot of storage space to keep all the belongings and necessary appliances of the owner operator. All the practical features are supported by Mack’s MP engine and Mack’s transmission which ensures a smooth and safe drive. The price begins from $130,840.
INTERNATIONAL
History
J.P. Morgan took the step to merge McCormick Harvesting Machine Company, Deering Harvester Company and three smaller agricultural equipment firms to form International Harvester in 1902. Most of International Harvester’s agricultural division was sold to Tenneco, Inc in 1985 and the following year the remaining portion was named Navistar International Corporation. Navistar International Corporation is more commonly known as International, which specializes in building on-highway, medium-duty and severe duty trucks.
Brief Timeline of Vehicles for International
The international line of trucks specialized in agricultural vehicles ever since inception. With the formation of Navistar International Corporation, the tag of ‘Harvester’ was removed. Along with many on-highway, medium duty and severe-duty trucks, pick-up trucks were also built by the International brand. It had stopped producing Scout, an off-road vehicle which began its days as a competitor to Jeep and was later replaced by the SUVs, in 1980. International marketed the International Extreme Truck Series (popularly known as the XT series). XT series trucks were produced from 2004-2008. The XT series trucks were discontinued as the sales had dropped lower than expected. The medium-duty, International TerraStar was first produced in 2010 and was discontinued in 2015. It was the smallest conventional truck produced by Navistar. The International DuraStar was originally named the International 4000 series. It was first launched in 2001 and in 2019 it was re-launched as International MV. The International LoneStar, one of the most luxurious trucks running at present and one of International’s most popular trucks has four variants: the standard LoneStar model called LoneStar, a truck without the sleeper section called the LoneStar Daycab, the model designed by Harley-Davidson called the LoneStar Harley, and LoneStar Recovery which is the tow truck LoneStar.
Why should a new trucking business consider buying an International Truck?
Fuel efficiency- With their special MPG Package, International trucks offer owner operators greater fuel efficiency.
Enhanced external features- Their aerodynamic model provides drivers with a comfortable drive. There are other energy efficient features like predictive cruise control, bumper seals and wheel-covers.
Superior engine- The LoneStar has an 18-gear Transmission and is powered by the Cummins X15 engine. It has 605 hp and a torque of 2,050 lb-feet.
Power APU system- It’s Auxiliary Power Unit or APU does not require a generator. APU systems provide power to all the truck appliances and hence, are quite important for a truck.

International Lonestar
International’s LoneStar can be considered as an option for a new owner operator. The Harley-Davidson model has a wooden floor divider between the work and the rest area. The bed-lifting mechanism along with the soft and light mattress designed by medical experts ensures that a truck driver has a comfortable place to sleep. It is power-packed as well as extremely comfortable. A 2020 LoneStar can be bought for $159,900.
So Kenworth, Volvo, Freightliner, Peterbilt, Mack, and International are 6 of the best semi truck brands that a new trucking business or owner operator can consider when purchasing a truck for a new business. A short look at what the future may hold is below.
A SNEAKPEAK INTO THE FUTURE- Tesla
By the end of 2020, Tesla plans to begin production of its all-electric power Class 8 semi-trailer truck, the Tesla Semi. It was first unveiled on 16th November, 2017. As per a Tweet by Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, this semi truck makes science-fiction dreams a reality. The company had initially announced that the all-electric truck will be able to run for 500 miles after a full-charge and 400 miles with an 80% charge. These trucks can be charged from ‘Tesla Megacharger charging stations across the country.’
This futuristic truck will be powered by four electric motors. The truck has been designed in a way that the batteries have been placed between the front and back wheels, at the floor of the cab. The Tesla Semi will be available in two battery configurations — 300 miles and 500 miles. Tesla will be offering a warranty for 1,000,000 miles. It has been stated by the company that the maintenance of these trucks will be simpler than that of a diesel truck.
Features to look out for in Teslas Semi:
On a 5% grade, the Tesla Semi will have a speed of 65 miles per hour.
The driver will still sit in the front of the truck, but in the center.
Apart from touch screen displays at the two sides of the steering wheel, there are no other instrument panels.
The Tesla Semi will have an explosion-proof wind shield.
The Tesla Semi’s standard equipment will include enhanced autopilot. This enhanced autopilot will give semi-autonomous capability to the truck:
The autopilot system will ensure that the truck stays in it's own lane.
The truck will be able to keep a safe distance from other vehicles.
Emergency brakes will be applied when required.
It will be able to detect and warn the driver of any potential danger lying ahead for the vehicle on the road.
It has active safety control features that will be able to detect signs of and ultimately prevent jackknifing.
This autopilot technology will eventually enable a convoy to run with only one driver in a truck.
To see more information on this and other electric vehicles please visit our article on what we think is the future of trucking.
Some possible downsides of the Tesla Semi
According to the researchers of Carnegie Mellon College of Engineering, an electric truck may not be very suitable for a long-haul truck. It has estimated that the weight of an electric truck will be upwards of 25,000 lbs. An all-electric truck with a heavy battery will only be suitable for short or medium hauls.
A heavy battery can take up as much as one-third of the total payload. This will make it incapable of carrying heavier loads.
The long-term ownership and maintenance cost of an electric truck cannot be determined as Tesla has not stated how long the first-installed batteries will last and what the replacement cost is thereafter.
Cost of a Tesla Semi
As announced by Elon Musk in November, 2017, the price of a 300-mile range Tesla Semi will be $150,000 and the 500-mile range will cost around $180,000. The Founders’ Series Semi will be offered by the company at a price of $200,000.
There are many options for a new trucking business and the future looks very exciting as well.

World first: BCTN takes first hydrogen vessel into regular scheduled service
Tumblr media
After a retrofit process of eighteen months, one of the existing ships in the BCTN fleet was converted into a zero-emission barge.
Together with partners Nike[1], Future proof shipping[2] and Air-Liquide[3], the ship "H2 Barge 1" will be deployed from the beginning of June in a regular scheduled service between Rotterdam and Meerhout (B). This will save an additional 2,000 tons of CO² annually. An additional advantage is that this barge is much quieter than a regular barge.
"BCTN[4] has been on the road to zero-emission for a number of years. This is prompted by our customers who continuously inspire and motivate us, so that we have to keep raising the bar" says David Huybrechts, general manager for BCTN Belgium. “At the moment we are pioneering and exploring how we can continue on the road to zero-emissions in the future - a combination of battery ships and hydrogen ships, electric cranes, electric and hydrogen trucks will be used to achieve our sustainability goals in the short term. This all fits in with our own business objective, but of course also with a green deal objective of Europe and Flanders. We want to play a pioneering role in this, but this can of course only be successful with the support of strong partners.”

The world 2023 events
Tumblr media
Who is to say the world did not die? Who is to say we did not die back in 2012 or all the other times they said things has happened?
For all we know we are still alive but are we really? This could be a simulation that basically looks like the real world and we would never know it.
Things are falling apart and becoming worst and worst everyday. History is repeating itself and we never know what the next day holds.
Have you ever not felt of this world. Do you often time feel like your out of place? Don't worry I always feel like that.
You take a look at the bible and they talk about Noah's ark and how they say that they brought one of each and put it on the ark.
Once you start playing certain video games like Soma where your trying to launch an ark that has basically everyone's minds on it since the earth was wiped out then you start to sit back and think are we really on the earth that they say we are or are we on some kind of ark.
Nothing is what it seems and nothing is what it use to be.
That is kind of how it feels. Nothing seems real anymore it kind of feels like one giant simulation to me just like in Soma.
If you look at the world and all the violence there is, how divided we are rather you are democrat or republican or even the race you are then it is like we are still segregated.
Not by color but by everything else but then again they are making it color based also, Mississippi supposedly activated the Jim Crows laws again.
Places are banning abortions, threatening the women that if they get an abortion then they will be thrown in jail or far worst executed for their decisions.
We are being poisoned by our water, the foods that we eat, and the air that we breathed. The taxes and inflation of things are so high to the point we cannot afford anything.
Rail road workers cannot protest or strike, they cannot do anything because they are legally bond to stay on the job and work. They cannot get any sick day or anything.
This is inhuman. They have been told to stop following the safety protocols which means they have to overload them and basically do none of the safety protocols they are suppose to follow because they cannot.
Those who don't have the covid vaccine or refused got fired so there's a shortage of workers every where you go due to this or they don't want to work for a company and get the bare minimum or below it since you don't really get enough money to survive with and pay bills or get the things you need.
Some of the workers are being worked to death to the point that they are covering multiple shifts and not getting paid for it or they are being over worked to the point they are tired and stressed.
This is how the new world order is being put in place not just that but we have a feeling it's going to be a one world leader, no more governments or monarchy or anything just one dictator that will rule all of the world.
There were about 4-6 train derailments in different states, a wreck with the truck in Arizona, a factory burning down that has eggs and plastic, a metal factory blew up, 3 environmental scientist died in a plane crash trying to get to Ohio to check out the environment and how bad it was when the train derailed. There was a chemical plant that also caught fire.
There is diesel fluid going into one of the rivers poisonings it.
The inflation is so high we cannot afford and people aren't getting paid enough to be able to survive on top of all of this they are also talking about a financial collapse. There are so many things going on it is way to hard to keep up with it all.
Ohio, West Virginia, Arizona, South Carolina, North Carolina, Florida, Texas, Oregon, Alabama, there is so much going on in all 50 states.
The whole world has something going on from protest to riots, to shootings to war. We do not know what is going to happen next be prepared.
All of this is a coincidence? I think not. It started with covid then they shot down a "Chinese spy balloon" but they are saying it was a weather balloon or whatever else they said it was now all of a sudden trains are derailing, factories are burning, water is being poison, there isn't enough food, grocery stores and other places are running out of things, inflation is at an all time high and things are just to the point we have no idea what is going to happen next.
Talking of inflation is it just that the cost of manufacturing went up after Covid or could it be that supplies have been running out and they need to drive up prices so people will stop buying it out of want and start buying if they desperately need it. Sounds like they are learning to use physiological methods to control the information that is let out to the people by driving the prices high then people won't know that things are running out.
Something is up and it is time to wake up. Some of this is not being told in the news so you are going to have to dig and search for it. They don't want you to know, they do not want you awake.
Ohio is giving everyone $5,000 if they do not hold them accountable or sue them for anything of the outcome that happens to its people. They are also making them throw out their clothing and furniture and anything that is cloth that could have chemicals trapped into it.
We had a Russian Submarine that was found on our coast that basically has WWII tactics to fight, no one teaches that tactic anymore.
Speaking of Russia, is it really surprising that all this time Ukraine was told they were safe from invasion by the Russian Federation but wasn't surprised when they were in fact invaded. Interesting that once they started to push back the Russian Federation events started happening more and more around the world? It went from more shootings, trains derailing, protests in France over pensions, to Russian submarines and fighter jets moving near the United States coasts, but let's not forget that the balloons were coming from the Country famous China. Sounds interesting that all in the middle of this they say the Conspiracy theory was in fact correct and the Covid virus was made in a lab in China, which by all fault doesn't mean China made it nor that it was even in that country to begin with but could have been released there to cover someone's mistakes.

Okay. Let's dissect this. Why would Sacrifice Chloe be the more tragic of the two endings?
First and foremost, we need to lay to rest a lie. It's an inadvertent lie, but a lie all the same. And that is that an entire town dies for Chloe. Because that's downright not true. At most, a third of the population of Arcadia Bay died... and those are teenagers and adults. Because Arcadia Bay (based off of the RL town of Garibaldi, Oregon) has a population under a thousand people... and does not have an elementary or middle school. In fact, the majority of its high school students likely attend other schools.
Blackwell Academy is a private high school that provides vouchers for students to attend. Even with those vouchers, there are likely parents in the failing economy of Arcadia Bay who have to send their children to other towns for schooling.
We know that Arcadia Bay is in the midst of an economic recession as multiple adults mention it. We have a woman desperate to take the bus to a job interview. We have a dozen or so small businesses, several of which are gas stations and convenience stores, along with two restaurants (Two Whales and the fancier restaurant which is most likely owned by the Prescott family to launder money because honestly, no one in Arcadia Bay can afford to eat there given the size of the receipt you can see from David's apology dinner to Joyce if you chose to side with David over Chloe and Joyce at one point). In fact, the largest employer is most likely Blackwell Academy.
So when the Storm hits - Friday at noontime according to the phone clock we see with Nathan's belated voice mail to Max - anyone who has a job is working outside of Arcadia Bay. The only folk still at Arcadia Bay are the self-employed and the unemployed, along with a hundred or so students and faculty at Blackwell, along with anyone driving through (like the truck driver Max saved while trying to reach while trying to get to Warren and the photo to save Chloe).
I've talked in the past about the closest thing to the Storm in real life, and that's the Category 5 tornado that on a Sunday afternoon struck Joplin, Missouri in 2011. Joplin had a population of a little over 51,000 and 25% of the city was destroyed, with another 50% having taken damage. Do note. This struck on a Sunday afternoon, in a large city, and the number of people injured was around 1,500, and 158 people died (with another 8 indirect deaths). There were houses reduced to foundation only. The vast majority of the population was there. Only 0.3% of the population died, and under 3% of the population was injured. In short... the only way most of the people at Arcadia Bay died was if it's a magic storm that hunted down people and murdered them.
And the vast majority of the population was out of town, so they could only be killed by the Storm if there was some magic involved that reached out to all the outlying communities to kill anyone who lived there... and you know if we're going with a magic storm that kills people who live there it'll also kill Max's parents because they used to live there. So, you know. Magic Storm. Though seeing it is canon in LiS2 that David survives the Storm along with Mark Jefferson, a couple cops, and Victoria Chase because they were in the Dark Room Bunker... I think we can rule out Magic Storm.
Of course, David also claims "everyone died" but I strongly suspect he was referring to Joyce and also many of the students at Blackwell. Even the deaths of all those students would be tragic, though many of them were from out-of-town and often from wealthy and well-to-do families, so the harm to Arcadia Bay is more economic. The bigger blow would be insurance companies refusing to pay for repairs because the homes didn't have tornado insurance. In fact, if damage to town infrastructure was also severe enough, the town could end up abandoned because they couldn't afford to rebuild. (The House was under Republican rule at that point so they probably blocked any attempt to send a small town in Oregon aid or loans.)
So there is a tragedy in Arcadia Bay. Max lost several casual friends, Chloe lost her mother (who honestly was an emotionally abusive woman toward Chloe and who enabled David's own physical abuse of Chloe), and Max went through a week out of Hell. Fortunately, she can go to therapy about this because she can call any experiences that she Rewound away as "nightmares" based off of the very real things she encountered.
But more importantly... Max has Chloe. We're talking about a girl who Max likely was in love with when she left Arcadia Bay, and who she avoided talking to because of a fear of rejection. And this is part of why Sacrifice Chloe is the more tragic ending.
Over five days, Max realized she was in love with Chloe. I don't care if you as the player constantly ghost Chloe, do everything but flash Warren, and are the biggest asshole toward Chloe that you could be, what Max says and what she writes in her journal even in that situation shows that Max is very much in love with Chloe. Life is Strange is the Coming of Age and Coming Out Story of Max Caulfield and if Max murders Chloe to save the town, she has essentially ripped her own soul out of her body and abandoned everything that is intrinsically Max Caulfield.
And yes, it is premeditated murder using Nathan Prescott as the weapon. Max knows that Nathan is armed with a gun, she knows he is going to shoot and kill Chloe. It does not matter that she goes back in time and does nothing to change things, she has abandoned the woman she loves, letting Chloe die alone and utterly abandoned by everyone she ever loved.
Two girls died in that bathroom. One of them is still walking... for now. But she's not going to be living for much longer. At best she is going to withdraw into herself. She will give up on photography (tainted by what Mark Jefferson did to her and to others). She will leave Blackwell. She will not ever put herself out there again. And do you know why?
Because the lesson that Sacrifice Chloe teaches is that you are going to be punished for helping other people and for choosing for yourself. She tried to save the life of a woman who she did not know. That the woman turned out to be her old best friend is immaterial: Max went to save a life without seeking reward or praise. She kept silent about it. She wasn't going to tell anyone. And in response, Arcadia Bay was going to be destroyed just because she saved a life.
How can she trust this won't happen again? Max could see a girl being gang raped and the first thing that will go through her head is "if I intervene, then everyone's going to die. I have to walk away." After all, that's what happened in Arcadia Bay! She potentially can save Kate and ends up going through hell as a result. She can aid Alyssa and bad shit happens again and again until finally Alyssa will die in front of her - and sure, she can save Alyssa but then more people die around her. She has to wonder "did I cause this? Did saving Alyssa kill someone else?"
In fact, the one guy she kind of trusts turns on her. He tells her "you caused this storm by saving Chloe's life." He puts the blame on Max's shoulders... despite the fact he has no idea what the fuck he is talking about (Warren gets a B- in Chemistry without Max's intervention, and calls the tornado a Cat 6 storm despite the fact there are no Cat 6 storms on the Earth... and tornado category is done after the storm is done and depends on the monetary value of the damage). So yeah, there's a very good reason why Warren is an antagonist in the Nightmare sequence - Warren proved himself untrustworthy time and time again.
But she can't tell anyone. None of it happened. Chloe died and that changes everything and there's no Storm and she has to internalize it all and can't risk talking to a therapist as she has no proof and risks being institutionalized (because let's face it, Max's story sounds fucking insane). She let the girl she loves die, and can turn to no one.
Of course Sacrifice Chloe is more tragic. It may only be the death of one person... but that one person was Max's world and soul. Without Chloe... Max has nothing. Without Chloe... in Max's mind, she herself is worse than nothing. She betrayed Chloe. She pulled the trigger. She killed Chloe.

Are You Looking for Local Trucking Companies?
Things to Consider Before Working With Local Trucking Companies
Before selecting local trucking companies, consumers should focus on a couple of critical facts. In doing so, there is a good chance that they’ll inevitably conserve a significant amount of cash, as well as feel even more confident that their goods will deliver in such a way that lowers the threat of damage.
One mistake that far too many consumers make is not taking the necessary time to conduct the correct research. With both desktop computers as well as mobile accessibility to high-speed internet, clients can determine possible issues beforehand.
Clients additionally need to understand that determining a local committed truck firm is not as difficult as what some people make it out to be. Thinking about that individuals throughout the nation have total accessibility to a nationwide listing of trucking companies, they can swiftly as well as conveniently determine those that offer the kind of solutions they require that are near their geographical place. This listing is commonly broken down by those two variables, along with others, such as years in the organization, locations of competence, prices, and more.
This same information is offered by reviewing a trucking magazine. Today, there is a host of magazines explicitly released to aid customers in making the right decisions. Some firms release their publications. As a result, a client thinking about working with a local devoted truck firm can subscribe to a publication or borrow one as a method of obtaining understanding.
Regardless of the source, the ultimate objective is to obtain as much information concerning various trucking companies as feasible. That helps people to narrow their selections to only one top company.
Along with that, it is normal for a trucking magazine to give clients with interesting short articles that cover numerous topics, such as “top 10” lists, “sophisticated technology and equipment made use of today by specialist trucking companies,” as well as a bunch of others.

Huge Trucking Companies vs. Smaller Trucking Companies
I have been at this job for years now. When I speak to others concerning the distinction between larger trucking companies vs. smaller sized ones, it always comes down to a driver’s individual experience with different business.
Len Dubois Trucking is a local midsize trucking business running regarding 65 company and owner-operator trucks. We are not a big national trucking company with places throughout Canada, and we’re more extensive than a ten truck carrier. We’re huge enough to be affordable to any individual, use experienced drivers and also provide security, and small enough that I recognize and communicate with the whole group, consisting of truck drivers as well as owner-operators.
Advantages of Smaller Local Trucking Companies
Local trucking companies have some benefits in offering a more affordable compensation package. We have some specialized customers that can pay greater. And also, we can get comments straight from our drivers concerning our compensation competitiveness. It’s tough to obtain quality comments when you have hundreds of drivers. Overhead, as well as repaired costs, are likewise reduced for local trucking companies.
We offer a family feel. Life takes place. We collaborate with our drivers to obtain them when they need to be in for family responsibilities. We understand our drivers, as well as know the operations and also dispatch people. More prominent companies often can’t or won’t do that.
I’m not bashing more prominent companies. As a result of they’re dimension and also scale, they require to run their systems tight. Exemptions mostly can not be fit as a result of their size. Everybody is an interchangeable cog in the wheel.
I have driven in on the weekend to satisfy dispatchers and solved getting a driver residence for a family emergency as well as still cover customer responsibilities. We’re small sufficient to obtain him back readily as well as big enough to have the drivers and also operations talent to place everything together. We comprehend your value to the group.
Autonomous Semis Could Influence Local Trucking Companies
Self-driving cars could be striking the roadways in the following 5 to one decade. Now the conversation is changing to how it’s going to influence work within the trucking sector.
In Central Factor, Oregon Self-driving automobiles could be hitting the highways in the following five to ten years. Currently, the discussion is shifting to exactly how it’s mosting likely to impact jobs within the trucking market. TP Trucking in Central Details states it’s ready to adapt to innovation, yet they still require drivers behind the wheel.
For explanation, self-driving autos do not have a driver inside, while autonomous vehicles navigate from a computer system or digitally, but still have a driver inside.
Today 3 local trucking companies informed NewsWatch12 an absence of qualified drivers is the most significant issue within their sector right now.
“Now, the more youthful generation doesn’t wish to remain in a truck; they don’t wish to be away from residence. So the kids aren’t thinking about becoming truck drivers,” states David Hopkins, the Logistics Manager of TP Trucking.
While self-driving vehicles can pose an additional danger to this industry, the local companies state they still need drivers for safety and security reasons. TP Trucking says the computer will do the majority of the driving in an independent semi-truck, as well as the truck driver is always there for oversight.
“What happens when a self-governing trucks’ computer suddenly goes down, and the truck is driving? That’s one of the factors to have a specific there,” states Hopkins.
Siskiyou Transportation Inc. says we will not be seeing autonomous trucks for some time because the public isn’t entirely on board yet.
“A lot of that is just going to be convincing the public that this is a safe mode,” states Mark Gibson, Head of Siskiyou Transportation Inc.
Specialist Transportation Solutions Inc. in Central Factor states independent semis will be an outstanding job boost for smaller firms like their own.
“It will probably in the short-term benefit our business because it will be easier to find drivers,” says Nick Hewitt, Owner of Professional Transportation Services Inc.
COVID-19 Impact on Local Trucking Companies
With the COVID-19 episode maintaining many individuals in your home, there is one local profession that has seen service grab: trucking companies.
Generally, a much more singular job than most, it’s not a surprise that truckers have been much less impacted by coronavirus than others.
“To me, it’s just going as regular, which is nice,” claimed David Bellows, a truck driver of 30 years that drives for Graphics Arts Express in Oregon. You have to relocate the products, obtain points where they must go, which’s most likely to proceed.”
Because of that, business has been steady, according to a set of operations supervisors for local trucking companies.
“Our volume usually obtains larger at the end of the month,” said Jim Hopkins of Video Arts Express, “but it did increase in some locations. We manage several of the delicatessens products for Walmart as well as cold store, which’s doubled by two times as long as firms attempt to be successful.”
“Specialized shipment items have decreased, but we have seen a little uptick as well as are remaining active carrying meat,” claimed Mike Fox at Anderson Trucking in Forreston. “I think we’ll remain busy since I don’t foresee the demand for shipping beef, pork, or chicken going away anytime soon.”
Graphics Arts Express has operated out of Oregon considering that 1951, and Hopkins has been the manager of the procedure since 2000. He claimed he has yet to come across a truck driver that has been unreliable regarding supplying a load someplace, and also credit reports that with a various mentality than many other occupations.
“I always try and assume that truck drivers have a somewhat different mindset because we service our very own so often. The federal government does not subsidize us for anything, so if we don’t obtain loads to carry or individuals cancel products, or we do not make distributions, we do not earn money. There’s no insurance policy, so you have to figure it out on your own a way to get by.”
Anderson Trucking has run out of Forreston for more than five decades, as well as Fox has been the operations manager for the last five years. Anderson delivers all around the Midwest, mostly in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, and also Ohio.
Both Hopkins, as well as Fox, have talked with their truck drivers regarding precautions they encounter to maintain themselves safe. Several locations they provide to have also set up brand-new procedures as well as treatments for that very same factor.
Bellows usually supplies to Rockford, Rochelle, Dixon, and Sterling, after serving as an Over The Road truck driver for many years. As well as despite his mainly local course, he states he’s knowledgeable great deals of these same preventative measures companies try to be as risk-free as possible.
