Sometimes I think about how I wanted Rey to fight the whole galaxy for Ben. I wanted her to stand in the face of everyone - the First Order, her friends, the Resistance, her mentor, even his own mother - telling her that he was beyond saving and not worth it and that she had a duty to the galaxy/Resistance/Jedi blahblah whatever, and Rey just saying
NO.
I WANT HIM. HE'S MINE. I'M SAVING HIM BECAUSE I WANT HIM. YOU CAN ALL F*CK OFF.
And then doing cool Force sh*t that no one has ever done before, something epic that should be impossible, to save him. Not because he deserved it but because SHE did.
That's the ultimate fem power fantasy IMO. Taking what you want because you want it even when everyone tells you to be a good little girl and not want things too much. That your instincts are wrong and misleading. But you say f*ck that, I'm doing this.
Forever mad that instead we got a patriarchal cautionary tale that killed everyone.

As a woman and as a fangirl, watching the Star Wars franchise feels like being invited, then disinvited to a party.
The Last Jedi : "Welcome to Star Wars !"
The Rise of Skywalker : "We're sorry to inform you that most of the previous storylines have been canceled, this movie is for dudes."
The Acolyte Season 1 : "Welcome to Star Wars !"
The Acolyte Season 2 : "We're sorry to inform you that the entire show has been canceled, please leave."

Reylo being the heart of Star Wars (much like Anidala before them) is showcased beautifully in TLJ & barely there in TROS.
I'll never understand how incompetent JJ Abrams is at making a fucking Star Wars movie. Like I'm sitting here thinking "How tf is this dude still making movies??? Why is he the definition of boring? Why is he so blind to how Rian Johnson almost saved The Sequel Trilogy by fixing the mess you made"

"We did one without [a kiss]. Hilariously, Adam had to wrap and literally got up from that scene, which was so emotional and everything, and was like, 'Bye guys! I'm going to New York.' I feel like we all— it felt earned. And what was interesting again is intentionality. My feeling in that moment was it was a goodbye. So that felt earned. Because you can call a kiss a thousand things, but I felt it was a goodbye. And that whole scene felt so emotional. I felt I was saying goodbye to the job. And then, actually, we had to pick-up something that was missed. So on my very, very last day — and we were doing various pick-ups and stuff — I had to literally sit and look when the camera was coming away from me, and I guess I was looking at him [Ben]. J.J. [Abrams] was like, 'you good?' Literally, immediately started crying my eyes out because it really felt like goodbye."
—Daisy Ridley on her last scene with Adam Driver in The Rise of Skywalker

Honestly, her taking the Skywalker name isn't the part that bothers me… if they had stuck to her being a nobody. If her parents really were just drunks who abandoned her, if it really was just luck of the draw that she was born with the Force, then that moment where she chooses her own destiny could have been really powerful. Where you start doesn't choose who you become, you do.
Instead they ruined it by making her related to Palpatine, so it's just HIS line stealing the Skywalker name after he destroyed all of their lives in his pursuit of power.

Ben Solo and Rey: dyad in the force. Two that are one. One soul, force whatever you wanna call it split into two bodies.
TRoS acting like it makes total logical sense: Well, I guess we should kill one of the halves!
