So I may just really like doing redraws and created a whole au around that-

Madoka magica and Precure roleswap time!!!! Of course I had to start by swapping the main duos of madohomu and nagihono. Im still figuring out the colors I want to use on the pmmm girls cause they look really gray

But those arent the only cures getting a tragic story-

thoughts on sango tropre? a lot of people seem to think she was really bland

anyone would seem bland next to laura. I think the stated goal of her character from a staff member was to have a normal girl the audience can relate to and a fashionable city girl to help manatsu fit in. that made her more boring as a character but I think it's reasonable to write her that way. kind of a case of writing for kids that doesn't interest adult viewers

she did have that one really good episode where she quadrupled her barriers by crossing all her fingers at once. I loved that

LAURA QUEST CHAPTER 2 THOUGHTS

PLAY THE GAME IF YOU HAVENT YET AND YOUVE WATCHED TROPRE!!!! ITS ON ITCH.IO!!!!!!!!!!!! ALSO SPOILERS FOR BOTH!!!!!!!!!! playing @laura-quest chapter 2 and i heavily appreciate it bringing back the one time tropre decided sango should have sauce back in ep39

laura WOULD catch on immediately. that is if she wasnt already a manatsu liker right along WITH sango. laura quest is the only instance where this could occur. ANYWAY i did all the endings and while the first good ending is alright i REALLY enjoy the second one!! sango REALLY never got a moment to well. do anything. but she also never got a moment to get self confidence either, and the second good ending lets sango go off!!! i know tropre had to run with a reduced number of episodes so im not gonna hold THAT against it (it has other writing sins that im STILL salty over) (that laura quest is also trying to correct lets fucking go) but this is still i think one of the best fan-made precure things to ever drop!! cannot wait to see how things shake out when minori and asuka get brought into the fold!!! the playthru had me and @snowmareve (friend who i played it with) come up with "the chubby laura way" of doing things: be an asshole until it sticks. NOBODY does it like laura also the wheelchair concept that they only used for like 2 episodes before laura got legs being brought back is so peak my only gripe would be that theres some spelling and grammar mistakes sprinkled throughout. i was speaking out the dialogue out loud and i got caught on some of it sometimes. but its also kind of whatever OVERALL ITS STILL PEAK!!! IT WILL CONTINUE TO BE PEAK. i realize the team will probly be waiting a while to start chapter 3 but when it drops i will BE there

Do you think tropre was Like That to cheer up kids after/during covid?

maybe? since the theme is motivation vs procrastination

i know with suite it was confirmed at one point that suite was going to be more similar to heartcatch and fresh in tone, but all i know from any changes that tropre made was that they originally wanted laura to be more gentle to contrast with manatsu but she was overshadowed so they made her Insane instead.

Futari wa Pretty Cure is the original from 2004, i haven't actually finished it myself but it IS very good and a classic, always good to start from the beginning (though the concept of Pretty Cures themselves sometimes vary through different series)

My personal favorite is Tropical-Rouge! Pretty Cure from 2021! Its mostly based on the sea with its central themes being mermaids, clubs, motivation and cosmetics (most precure series come w themes like this!)

Other ones I watched were HUGtto! Precure (2018), Star Twinkle Precure (2019), and Delicious Party Precure (2022), and theres the currently airing one Hirogaru Sky! Precure in 2023. Hugtto's themes are essentially destiny, jobs and the future, Star Twinkle's are imagination and astrology, DeliParty being food, sharing and gratitude, and HiroSky's being endless skies and heroes!

You can also look at the general cast of Cures for each and see if any of them catches your fancy :] the ones i put here are the visuals for each, in order being Futari Wa, HUGtto!, Star Twinkle, Tropical-Rouge!, Delicious Party, and Hirogaru Sky!

one of the things i really like about tropical rouge is how it handles the girls becoming pretty cure. the franchise in general doesn't really have any "chosen ones" (for lack of a better term)-- as in the "these specific people are the ones who will become precure and no one else" kinda way-- which i really love, but tropre adds onto it by making it so that the girls must connect with laura first.

they need to meet her and befriend her before the tropical compact even does anything, and when they gain the motivation to protect others because of how laura has inspired them, that's when they're able to transform. and later on in the season when they begin to inspire her, laura is able to become a pretty cure. a human has to bond with a mermaid, and a mermaid has to do the same with them if she's going to be a precure too.

it's about how the people you love give you the motivation and the ability the fight on, regardless of your own limitations. it's about how connections with others make us stronger.

My favorite thing about Mermaid Monopoly Monday, by far, is that it was made after episode two.

All those ridiculous faces Laura makes are from the first two episodes alone.

Tropical Rouge was just SUCH a fun time. I miss it already.

(My second favorite part, of course, is that it is very in-character for Laura “Humans are just sacrificial pawns on my path to queendom” La Mer in the first two episodes. Man I love that line and animation. She’s perfect.)
