Another overarching theme in Rings of Power:

Elves are pansexual and potentially polyamorous.

I mean, you must hit 500 and most of the cute mortal taboos just cease to mean much of anything. We all sort of get that already, but TROP is embracing that idea with both arms.

Why am I saying this after ep. 7? Well.

The little sparks between Adar and Elrond I would definitely classify as ... enmity with an edge. And hopefully not incestuous. Who the hell is Adar?

Sauron/Celebrimbor. Silvergifting with extra gifts! It was A LOT. Somehow during those intense scenes there was INTIMACY. It hurt and will keep on hurting for some time.

THAT KISS. If that exchange was only about passing her something to pick the lock on her manacles, Elrond could have hugged Galadriel and kissed her temple. Or her cheek. Or they could have pressed foreheads together like the old friends they supposedly are. No need to kiss with tongue you two, AND YET. They EMBARRASSED the ORCS. Is there a ship name because now I'm curious.

i kinda dislike how the rop fandom is slowly refusing any sort of criticism. and i get it, after 2 years of nonstop harassment from dudebros they’re bound to be more protective of the show. but a lot of the discussion surrounding the last few eps are valid imo and it’s sad to see it be watered down to “you just don’t like it because it didn’t go your way”

eg galadriel’s character arc, how they wrote dialogue for the fight, the marvel-fication type ending on top of the cliff, the pacing of the southern plotline … i think those are fair criticisms tbh.

funnily enough i thought s1 had a bigger enjoyment rate for me than s2 which could be because they took some notes through reddit (crazy to think about) but i think the main problem is that the writers have good concepts but not execution (eg how they envision the dynamics between saurondriel vs what they translated on screen)

I agree with everything you wrote anon. I love TROP but I think it's important to feel allowed to express constructive criticism.

There's a big difference between what the lore-bros do, aka pile on the show without even watching it, calling it "utter shit" and insulting the creators, and looking objectively at season 2, its finale in particular, and point its glaring flaws while remaining respectful towards the director and the writers.

I feel like most viewers actually liked S2 more than S1 tbh. I myself think it's overall better, because there were many moments in S1 that took me out. The Celebrimbor/Annatar arc was incredible, and I didn't even mind that Galadriel and Sauron were separated because it made sense within the story : there was no way for Galadriel and Sauron to share more scenes, they couldn't be physically at the same place, at the same time ! So I really didn't mind it.

But they should have known that after 7 episodes, after showing Galadriel and Sauron being obsessed with each other, their reunion should have been epic. On that point, they simply failed to deliver, and it's not being a "bad fan", or "siding with lore-bros" to point that out.

Also I'm still angry for the way they treated Galadriel all this season. She was not only sidelined but put in positions where she had to be saved repeatedly, she was given shitty lines while the male characters got all the best lines, and the one moment she should have showed a little of bit of vulnerability was the one the writers chose to tell us, "oh look at our heroin who resists so well Sauron's temptation ! She's so badass !" I would have rather seen her be badass and not deprived of her agency through all the season, than seeing her toss away her feelings, and "shut the door", in less than 2 seconds because the writers remembered at the end that she was originally written as a the protagonist and as a feminist character.

ROP Season 2 Finale Predictions: Sauron

trop predictions for season 2 episode 8

again just my own head canon and wild speculation with spoilers of season 2 up through ep 7 and some of the released marketing of the finale.

Sauron (and Haladriel)

Sauron survives. We know he will fight Galadriel from the teasers. He’s at least holding Morgoth’s crown.

he is clearly hunting for the nine rings. In the book canon he tortures Celebrimbor for it. I think that happens and since Galadriel has the rings it seems obvious that will drive the confrontation.

how he gets there I’m not sure, does he defeat Adar? Does Adar have a change of heart and some opportunity to give Galadriel the crown and Nenya?

the safest bet is to me is Sauron takes the Uruk army from Adar, and gets the crown and the ring. Likely killing Adar unless Adar can run away and maybe become an Elf again.

is Galadriel fighting to survive and protect the rings or is she the one chasing Sauron, as she swore to do in season 1?

my best guess. Sauron and Galadriel are evenly matched to a degree they stop fighting and talk. I think they will try to make him more villain coded this season and he’ll lie about what he did to Eregion or try to woo her to the darkness, maybe he will offer to trade Nenya for the Nine (if he got it from Adar?). Somehow she does get Nenya and either they break canon by making her the one to distribute his rings to the mortal men doomed to die or more likely he is getting away with the nine.

I think he then discards the Annatar form and takes on a Halbrand version to work on giving out the rings to men. This is the image of Halbrand Galadriel sees in her vision. It comes when he has the Nine after they’ve fought.

as for Haladriel, I would love to be surprised by something more, I just think what we might get would be some interesting words in the fight, from either of them admitting their feelings were real but still wanting to fight the other regardless, that could go both ways, Galadriel for her oath and revenge for her people, Sauron to get what he wants back. At the end of the day neither can kill the other, would it be by their own choice or will a deus ex machina save one of them? I hope we get one more Sauron choosing good moment to obsess over for the next two years.

it would be hilarious if Sauron does physically give Galadriel Nenya. Imagine the image of the Dark Lord putting on an engagement ring on her? (Platonically) 💍😍

So, I just finished watching The Rings Of Power and...I need to rant about it.

(I read the Silmarillion some time ago, so I am familiar with the original lore.)

First off I need to clarify that I genuinely don't mind when media deviates even heavily from it's source material...that is if it's done well.

So I'm tired of people saying stuff like "B-but Sauron has never taken on a human form in lore" cause we are talking about the quality of the work, ok?

I wanna be fair now, the good stuff:

Charlie Vickers is a very good casting choice and so is Sophia Nomvete.

S2 Ep 7 has genuinely good emotional moments with decent dialogue and killer acting.

It made me want to read the Silmarillion again.

Unfortunately that's about it.

First and foremost I'd like to talk about the more technical aspects:

Dialogues

I feel like this is kind of the elephant in the room here. The dialogues are poorly written, no shockers. Why? Well, one of the things they teach you in writing class is to not overdo it unless you are good at it. What is overdoing it? Wanting to sound ancient and poetic without actually knowing how to pull that off with random metaphors, arcaic inflessions that really don't make sense and so, SO much forced oral exposition.

Costumes

Not really much to say besides that they look cheap and not well designed. They look almost made of plastic, cosplay-ish at times, the hair styles are (to me) the worst part of it. Besides, I want to criticize the concepts themselves: where are the elves's long complicated hairstyles? Where are the dwarves women's beards?? Why is it everything so gendered in this series? Like, I'm not saying Tolkien's book don't include gender roles, but they removed all the examples of beautiful androgyny throughout the cast.

Cgi

I get it's a series and it will never be perfect, but for "the most expensive show ever" to have clunky cg that often ruined my immersion is disappointing to say the least.

Casting

Don't hate me for this one but I don't like the majority of the casting choices. Either they don't fit the part or, I'm sorry, they aren't that good of an actor. I find the major victims of this to be Elrond and Galadriel, whose actors (FOR ME!!!) have not captured the characters convincingly.

Pacing and writing

The plot is so messy and convoluted, it lacks focus. The characters are mostly badly written and it overall has a very fanfictiony feeling. As I already said I don't mind not following the lore but if what we get then is a poorly constructed conflict...

Anyway, sorry for the long ass rant, but I felt very disappointed. I was really hoping to eventually say "yes, I loved this show", but I was left with a bitter taste. Shame.

Don't take anything personally, if you enjoyed the show that's totally valid and OK and if you had genuine fun with the show I envy you.

Classic Boom Bap. Dope Beat Dope Rhymes Dope Cuts. Du Rap dans sa forme pure, bon petit plat simple préparé avec Amour dans les vieilles casseroles. Ça marche toujours.

Cette fois-ci j'ai l'honneur de partager le micro avec Big Mod aka Modal, mon légendaire et vénérable aîné que j'ai vu brûler des scènes de l'underground à Forest National ou Dour depuis que je suis Rookie. King Size, RAB, le 9mm, les maxis, les tapes, les compiles... Très vite il m'a montré du Respect (évidemment réciproque) et on a partagé qques chills, ultimes passionnés amoureux de cette culture que nous sommes.

Au Beat, un gars un peu plus jeune mais qui est plus de l'époque que les gars de l'époque ! Si bcp de ceux qui s'accrochent à la Vibe 90s sont relous, passéistes et sans saveur, lui c'est tout le contraire. Un des rares spécialistes pour cette recette MPC à l'ancienne mais avec style et goût. En solo, avec son gars le Fak ou aux manettes pour la crème de l'under néerlandophone, il livre perles sur perles dont la magnifique prod de Main Tendue qu'il m'a filé ya pas si longtemps.

Mon fidèle DJ Sauze a été chauffé par le bordel et malgré des conditions pratiques compliquées s'est demerdé pour me fournir des cuts de luxe. Puis comme très souvent, cover du Homie Daex et mix du Homie Taipan.

On fait tout ça avec le coeur et sans grandes retombées comme bien des talentueux passionnés qui passent sous les radars donc tsé bien, donne de la Force de quelconque façon si "ça vous chante et que nos couplets vous parlent". C'est l'épisode 8 de ma série "Juskomsa and Friends", le 7/7 j'enchaîne avec un "micro EP" qui sera suivi d'une poignée de surprises avant l'apothéose : le bouquin/album ! Galadriel, I am All About Galadriel At All Times. Idc what she’s doing. Eating breakfast? Fascinating. Walking somewhere? Engrossing. Fighting off complete emotional collapse while hunting down evil and swimming across the ocean? 100/10 some good shit right there.

6 Favorite character dynamic?

Answered here and here. But also Galadriel + Halbrand up to episode 8 when I WAS HORRIBLY BETRAYED BY THE DARK LORD harumph. It is no secret I was really really hoping for GalHalla buddy cop slow burn star-crossed lovers dynamic. Alas it was not to be. BUT I still very much love watching through the season while pretending Sauron steals human!Halbrand’s body somewhere between ep 6 and 7.

12 Which outfit do you like the most?

Toss up between Gal’s Gold Lindon gown + green-blue cloak or the green and gold Eregion ensemble. They’re so elegant and regal and complex and very elven to me. Also both come with fantastic accessories, our Commander is ace at accessorizing.

Nous lisons dans l’Ancien Testament qu'en jugement sur la nation d’Israël, Dieu envoyait une armée conquérante, une peste ou une sécheresse, etc. jusqu'à ce qu'elle fasse Sa volonté. Dieu ne change pas, Il nous aime trop pour nous laisser dans l’erreur. Dieu est amour, certes (1 Jn 4. 8), mais Il est aussi Saint et Juste et Ses jugements reflètent Son caractère. Ce verset dans l’ancien Testament : “Ne commets pas d'injustice dans tes jugements : n'avantage pas un faible, ne favorise pas un puissant, mais rends la justice de façon équitable envers les autres Israélites” (Lev 19. 15), nous révèle que Dieu veut que nous aussi nous ayons des jugements justes. Il se trouve dans le livre de Lévitique dans un passage concernant nos relations avec notre entourage. Le verset 14 parle de nos relations avec des personnes en situation de handicap et reflète la compassion et Son intérêt pour les personnes soufrant d’un handicap. Les autres versets concernent comment travailler en respectant les pauvres. Le verset 16 : “Tu ne t’élèveras point contre le sang de ton prochain”, nous met devant le défi de ne rien faire qui puisse mettre en danger la vie d’autrui. Un écho de ceci est trouvé en Romains 14. 13 :“Ne nous jugeons donc plus les uns les autres; mais pensez plutôt à ne rien faire qui soit pour votre frère une pierre d'achoppement ou une occasion de chute.” Jésus nous conseille :“Ne jugez pas selon l'apparence, mais jugez selon la justice” (Jn 7. 24). Devant les choix et décisions que nous avons à prendre aujourd’hui, demandons à Dieu de nous inspirer selon Sa justice.
