thinking about how the tron legacy lightcycle design was based off a lightcycle design syd mead drafted for tron 1982, where the backs of the lightcycles merged with the riders to symbolize that the programs were merged with the vehicles, but the animation technology at the time wasn't advanced enough to render it, so it sat unused for the original film, then remained unused in tron 2.0 and kingdom hearts (in which jet and sora(?) use a different lightbike designed by mead). only to see use in legacy. and that the detail of the back merging with the program was kept intact when they built the roller coasters. so when you ride tron lightcycle/run you're both 1) merging your code with the ride (watsonian) and 2) becoming a part of syd mead's original vision for TRON (doylian).

Like not even from a story standpoint not having Bruce in Tron 3 is just straight up mean? I’m not a Tron historian by any means but by all I’ve seen he (and Cindy) were at so many meet ups, conventions, FAN PAGES, voiced their roles and new ones whenever they got an opportunity, went to the opening of the roller coaster etc etc

Like from what I’ve seen he loves the franchise and is thankful for it and the opportunites he’s had. It is incredibly unfair and sort of cruel to not have him in it and taking so long that Cindy cannot be …. Like these people did a funky little movie in the early 80s and are still such advocates and you say FUCK THAT

Basically remake the world with the sequel, deminish it all to a aesthetic and then when you do finally make a third film it’s going to have fuck all to do with what it was originally about and just be about the aesthetic

At least Jeff is going to be in it? Who seemed excited enough to bring the og helmet out but I’m sort of scared now because they’re either going to Nuke Flynn’s character even harder or have some unrelated voice stuff idk… I just…

I don’t know who to blame for this. As it’s not exactly Disneys fault as they already proved they sort of don’t care/haven’t even back in the day but- whoever - I don’t know I want to blame someone

I'm sorry but it genuinely blows my mind that Disney would retcon a major plot point in Tron Legacy. I can understand why they retconned Tron 2.0 even if I don't like it; requiring people to play an FPS game from 2003 to understand the movie is not a good move even if that game is stable on current hardware. And as of 14 years later, you still have to download a fan made bugfix to mod in the ability to play with widescreen, so... I don't have to like it but I get it.

Meanwhile, Tron Legacy is the most financially successful Tron project by a LONG margin. It's what most people picture first when they think of Tron. There's a reason Disney invested not one but TWO roller coasters into it that directly reference characters from that movie. Retconning a major plot point from the most successful Tron ANYTHING is just

The Ghouls’ Favourite Disney Rides!

This is Era IV/V Ghouls and based off the rides at Walt Disney World in Florida

Below the cut bc I may have rambled a tad

Aether - Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster

It’s fast, it’s fun, it’s got rock music, and Dew just about meets the height requirement which he find hilarious. Guaranteed that after he comes off it and gets back to his guitar, he’ll be practicing a bunch of Aerosmith songs.

Dewdrop - The Seas With Nemo & Friends.

He’ll say it’s Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster but it’s actually Nemo. He loves the peace and quiet and Finding Nemo is his favourite Disney film. He also loves the aquarium that comes after the ride because he feels like he can just about feel his connection to Water there. Disney magic ig.

Rain - Kali River Rapids

It was Splash Mountain and he is still bitter about that closing but of course the Water Ghoul will love the water rides. He likes the challenge of keeping his glamour up while having buckets of his element dumped on him. And he may secretly use his magic to dump more water on whoever comes on it with him.

Mountain - Soarin’

Fitting in with my other hc it’s his favourite simply for the fact that his feet don’t touch the ground. He also loves the smells in the Africa and India scenes. Living With The Land is close second and right next door so bonus.

Swiss - The Haunted Mansion

It might come as a shock that his favourite ride is a very slow dark ride but he loves it. It’s creepy and funny and he loves trying to find a harmony with the singing busts for “Grim Grinning Ghosts”. He also knows the entire Ghost Host narration and can say it in-time with the ride in a very good impression.

Cumulus - Kilimanjaro Safaris

She loves the animals, the whole thing is outdoors and she could take over the job of the driver because of the amount of times she’s been on it. She also watches the docu-series on Disney+ about the care that goes into the animals and can name a few of them while on the ride.

Phantom - Guardians Of The Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

In a similar vein to Aether, it’s fast, fun and has good music. They also are obsessed with films and love Guardians so it’s a fun little bonus. They know all the songs that could play and will belt them word-for-word while riding. Also Quints, stars, makes sense.

Cirrus - Tron Lightcycle Run

She loves the air that she gets on the outdoor section and thinks it’s really awesome ride. She’s never actually watched the film (much to Phantom’s horror) but she loves the ride and will be up very early to get a virtual queue for it.

Aurora - Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

It’s not about her height. One of her first movie nights topside included Disney films and Snow White has always been a favourite since, including using some of the songs as warm-ups backstage. Her and Dew take pride in the comparisons to the dwarfs and she will wait any time necessary to get on the ride.

Sunshine - Astro Orbiter

She loves heights and it gives a great view of the parks. She’s also out in the sun the whole time which is a massive lure for her. As much as she craves adrenaline, she also loves how it’s a bit different to the other spinner rides and the space/future theming is cool.

Moon boys at Disney World 🌙🎠

✨ Headcanons because I want to meet Mr Knight in Disneyland all the time. Wanna make a part 2 to cover these 80s dudes’ response to Galaxies edge alone-

♘ Steven is in the hall of American Presidents.

♘ Marc is holding Jake back in the head space, probably because this is Steven’s third go around.

♘ Marc goes on Space mountain. Jake then also gets a turn on space mountain. Then Marc. Then Jake again.

♘ Marc is keen on a Mickey bar. Steven is not since they aren’t dairy free.

♘“Mate, Cmon, get a classic dole whip! It’s pineapple!”

♘ “Don’t worry buddy, It’s not a real mouse,” as he unwraps his ice cream.

♘ Jake refuged in the Haunted Mansion to get away from the colors.

♘ Steven dragged him out to meet Mary Poppins

♘ All three enjoy taking turns to eat a fancy grilled cheese in Epcot (The ones they serve with a literal can of tomato soup? They think it’s hilarious.)

♘ Steven gets brave enough for the TRON legacy ride. The guys are cheering him on. As soon as the operator gives a thumbs up- Marc has been elected to the front.

♘ Steven is inside the Epcot ball and anticipates the ancient history section.

♘ Marc likes the stars section.

♘ Jake likes the part where the shuttle goes backwards and feels like laying down.

♘ Jake finds Test Track. You already know.

♘ VRROOOOOOOMMMMMM

♘ The guys Hype up Steven to try Rock n’ Roller coaster. He’s in and just as he starts to push Marc to the front- the ride GOES.

♘ and he LOVED it.

♘ The moon boys are hyping Steven on as he buys a round (1) of lightsaber churros.

♘ Marc appreciated the Aerosmith.

The Hargreeves at Walt Disney World

by me, a longtime brellie/cast member

Luther:

Probably fits the bill of a Disney adult the most.

Wears those cheesy “family trip!” shirts, Mickey ears, the whole nine yards.

Tries to get the rest of the family to wear matching shirts- it does not go well.

Freaks out on Tower of Terror but ends up loving it.

Dad jokes at any given opportunity

He gets mistaken for Beast at some point during the trip. He’s not mad about it.

Full on sobs at Happily Ever After

Favorite ride is Mission Space or Cosmic Rewind and he loves the Mickey Pretzels.

Diego:

Trash talks the others before heading into Space Ranger Spin and Toy Story Mania- he loses to Allison and Claire both times. He’s very bitter about it.

However, he is very good at gunner on Smuggler’s Run. Actually, he just loves Galaxy’s Edge as a whole, mainly for the costumes.

Loves the fast paced coasters- Tron, Cosmic, Everest, Rockin Roller (has a special love for Slinky Dog but he’ll never admit it.)

Uses his powers to win a toy for Lila at the Dinorama carnival.

He and Ben team up to secretly book Five an appointment at the Bippity Boppity Boutique.

Favorite ride is Tron and favorite snack is the spiced corn from Harambe.

Allison:

TIANA AND NAVEEN DISNEYBOUND WITH RAY!!!

Claire dresses up as either Lottie or Moana

They just geek out at Tiana’s Bayou Adventure as a whole tbh. They never want to leave

Free lightning lanes all day with this girl!

The photo op QUEEN. Makes everyone stop for a photo in front of the castle and it actually turns out really cute

Loves the Festival of Fantasy parade (and secretly dreams of young Allison who wanted to be a princess too)

Aside from Tiana’s, loves going on the teacups with Claire and Klaus and just Hollywood studios in general

Fave ride is Tiana’s and fave snack is cotton candy :)

Klaus:

A little overwhelmed at first, but manages to settle in and have fun

Shares his journey of sobriety with a CM who makes him a celebratory badge for it, he wears it and is congratulated by dozens of people which makes him quite emotional

Gets really into pin trading with Claire (blind boxes are his specialty. He has a knack for guessing what pin he’s going to get)

Not a fan of most of the rides but he does like the Peoplemover and Kilimanjaro safaris, and the Pandora rides

Does love meeting characters though, especially the ones that will talk with him :)

Content to spend most of his time pin trading and relaxing in the quieter parts of the park (he loves Animal Kingdom)

Constantly talks about how much of an entertainment masterpiece Fantasmic is (because it is!!!!)

Fave ride is Flight of Passage and fave snack is the churros from Nomad Lounge. iykyk

Five:

The poor victim of a prince makeover via Diego and Ben

Surprisingly, besides the ton of pixie dust, he doesn’t hate it. He chooses Prince Philip

Is understandably upset when they won’t let him drink around the world (Allison and Ben help with this, and he does complete his goal)

Loves the classic rides/shows like Pirates, Tiki Room, Carousel of Progress and the Jungle Cruise (the skipper told a really old joke that only he understood)

Loves learning history and facts about the parks from CMs. Is the master of the Cast Compliment

Judges Luther for crying at Happily Ever After (but loves the show on the inside)

Fave ride is Carousel of Progress and fave snack is anything from Les Halles in France.

Ben:

Wears his jacket to the parks and complains about the heat literally all the time

Total coaster junkie like Diego- they end up on a lot of the rides together.

Is the first one awake in the morning and the one to yell at them all to get moving

Handles the dining reservations because he “doesn’t trust them to pick somewhere good”

he accidentally books a restaurant in the wrong park

loves to make universal jokes

also has definitely asked a CM where Cinderella’s castle is (while standing in magic kingdom)

Fave ride is Everest and fave snack is the pizza spring rolls outside Adventureland.

Viktor:

The mediator, of course

Brings cute handmade presents for the CMs

Prefers the chill boat rides over the intense ones (Tiana’s, Pirates, Navi, Jungle, Frozen, Gran Fiesta)

wears a family trip shirt to match Luther <3

Has a special love for the Philharmagic and Muppetvision shows

Loves the entertainment. Will sit and watch the castle stage show all day if he could.

Loves taking photos of the parks and silly selfies with his family

fave ride is Gran Fiesta and fave snack is a classic dole whip

Lila:

Also fits the bill of a classic Disney adult, but in a different way- cute workout fit, Minnie ears, sunnies, a loungefly or Vera Bradley, Joffrey’s in hand

This girl loves her Joffrey’s

Will not stop staring at the castle. Seriously. Diego has to drag her away to get her focused.

He does surprise her with dinner at Cinderella’s Royal Table though. She’s ecstatic. (Forget the others- they can eat at Tony’s.)

Also loves the coasters- she purchases the photo of her and Diego on Tron and frames it.

Loves meeting the princesses and taking photos with them!

Definitely a big Haunted Mansion enjoyer (Klaus is not, for the record.)

Most likely to be a Disney content creator

Also the one pestering the others that they need to go to Universal too

Fave ride is Tron and fave snack is dark chocolate strawberries from the Confectionary.

in honor of my recent disney trip:

rdr2 walt disney world modern au headcanons

(this accidentally got posted to my lesbian sex account so if you saw that…no you didn’t 🤠🥸)

-dutch is mad that the trip got booked in the first place. he is not a large crowd disney guy. he’s a “i need to sit with my back against the wall and plan our escape route” man. he is very angry that weapons are not allowed. it’s too expensive and he’s mad that they used the camp funds to pay for it.

-hosea is the disney dad. backpack full of snacks, sunscreen, cooling rags, the handheld fans that spray water, the batteries to replace the old ones in the handheld fans. you need tylenol? he’s got it. you’re lost and need to find the way to tomorrowland? he’s got the disney magic experience app up and ready for you. he has the itinerary written out perfectly and everyone has a copy. he has all the routes mapped out and he bought one of those “disneys best kept secrets” books. he used dutch’s credit card

-charles only ever wants to be in animal kingdom. he has the best luck with all of the animals; his calm presence always brings out everyone from their hiding spots. he knows all the fun facts about the animals and all the little kids think he works there, so he answers everyone’s questions. some disney parents want to give him a cast member compliment/shout out on the app but he just shrugs and says he doesn’t work there

-arthur is the head counter. he didn’t really want to go because he thought it was silly, but he is the one who is watching out for everyone. he assigned everyone a number in his head and he’s making sure they are all accounted for. when jack gets tired he throws him up onto his shoulders, and always has a cold water bottle available for any of the girls when they get too hot or thirsty

-john is all for the lightening lanes and scouring the app for the best rides. he forgets to add other people until abigail reminds him, but basically he has been booking himself on the big rides like tron, rockin roller coaster, tower of terror, etc. when he mentioned that he got the rides, arthur asked how many people he got them for and john only said he got a lightening lane for himself. abigail took his phone and john wasn’t allowed to use the app anymore

-javier is enamored with the princesses. he sees them all and isn’t creepy about them, but he thinks they’re all beautiful. jack isn’t interested in meeting the princesses at all so javier just sees them from afar and waves. he did walk by jasmine and he spoke spanish to her and made her swoon a little.

-in all the parks they have cooling stations where it’s just a giant machine that blows out cold misty water to cool down children. bill commandeered it. cast members have kicked him out but he manages to sneak back after shift change

-sean has been making sure that he takes jack to meet all the characters. he says he really wanted jack to meet timone from lion king, but in all honestly he and kieran made a bet to see if sean talked enough smack if timone would punch him in the face or not

-trelawny cries every time at the happily ever after fireworks in magic kingdom. he gets so many emotions and feels overwhelming joy at even the small parades (no i’m not projecting my own feelings onto trelawny rn 🙃)

-gaston flirts with ms grimshaw and it actually makes her blush. dutch feels rage and jealously almost immediately

“oh dutch he’s just playing a character!”

“susan, i don’t like the way he is speaking to you!!”
