Garden surprises

   YEsterday evening I weeded the plain orange carrot beds. Once again, the weeds had grown tall enough to flower, while the carrots are still spindly little things.

This is poor. Poor germination, and they should be twice as big by now. Anyhow, I had to pick up an errant squash vine and move it and, Behold!

This is technically a butternut squash. However, the genes for the long neck got ‘stuck’ somehow? And it grew as long as my arm? This is. Ridiculous. This one squash is enough for six meals for a family.

A little wintry but it's stormy tonight. We have trombocino squash coming out of our ears. Think zucchini but crazy long and a little firmer. So, it's pork with fresh sage in olive oil and sliced trombocino in a tomato sauce.
