the misspoken phrase “trojan’s horse” is so good.

obviously, what ricken means is “trojan horse”. there wasn’t a person named trojan who owned a horse.

it would be an easy enough mistake to overlook. it’s just one letter, and ricken’s phrasing is often just a little pretentious quirky. but he accidentally says something meaningful & more accurate to the situation than what he meant

because “trojan’s horse” is exactly backwards. the trojan horse wasn’t the trojans’, it was the greeks’; we call it the trojan horse because they used it to get into troy. if it were a trojan’s horse, the trojan could use it against the greeks who are trying to sneak in.

when ricken calls the lumonspeak edition of the you you are a “trojan’s horse”, it’s because he would like to imagine that he can use it to sneak his ideas into lumon. but in actuality, it’s lumon that is reframing & recuperating his work to further entrench their ideas.

and then also outie irving now having a relationship with burt’s outie and burt’s outie’s husband? parallels to helena/helly, mark, and gemma??? the thought isn’t complete but someone jump off plz

Yet another double meaning. It took me a second to realize Helly means during the OTC, which she just experienced. But it doubles — unknown to her — as “what happened to you up there” at the retreat, when something did happen to Mark S. that has a lot to do with why he’s acting so weird.

I think this is probably as direct as the dialogue is going to get about Mark S. being sexually violated by Helena, but it’s more direct than I was expecting.
