Katya knew a thing or two about bitter winters; could still feel the deep chill down to his bones after hours spent making snow forts and mazes in the middle of a Nor’easter in his youth — the kind of cold that was barely touched by endless cups of hot cocoa or bowls of hearty stew.

He had packed what seemed like every pair of socks he owned along with the winter hats from the back of his dresser drawer. But nothing could have prepared him for the absolutely arctic temperatures of Wisconsin in the dead of winter.

Ice clung to everything, weighing down the power lines and plunging the town into darkness.

Pulling another wool blanket up to his chin, he turned on his side and rubbed his legs together. “Think we need to combine our body heat, Tritzie.”

This one-shot was born from an article I read a long time ago about how the Wilson sisters (incredible vocalists of Heart) had had a very similar encounter with the brothers Alex and Eddie Van Halen. The fact that Ann had given her first acoustic guitar to Eddie and that he wrote a song for her that same night and never played it again seemed like fanfic material to me, I'm not gonna lie.

Her triple axel was legendary—she’d been the first American skater to land it perfectly, and each competition only solidified her reputation as a graceful, disciplined performer. Trixie embodied the ideal of elegance and precision, making her country proud with every flawless routine. But her dedication to perfection came at a cost; she was a skater who knew the sacrifices it took to be at the top.

Katya Zamolodchikova, Russia’s best, was a stark contrast. Where Trixie was all finesse, Katya had a raw, untamed edge that made her routines thrilling to watch. Her performances weren’t traditionally beautiful, but her technical prowess was unmatched. Katya was infamous for attempting risky stunts—moves she hadn’t fully mastered but executed anyway, defying reason and gravity. Nine out of ten times, she landed them perfectly, earning gasps of awe from the crowd. But that one miss had cost her dearly: she’d stumbled during a complicated jump, her hand slicing against her skate’s blade in a brutal fall that many believed would end her career. Now, as Olympic season approached, both skaters felt the immense pressure of representing their countries. The competition had become more than just a contest—it was a showdown. Katya’s lit cigarette almost served as a flare, Trixie thought as he walked toward the smoldering tip and the smell of smoke.

His bus had been ahead of Katya’s, everyone blissfully unaware of what was happening until the music overhead stopped and their bus driver’s voice came over the speakers. They got off the highway, taking main roads to circle back to the interstate entrance. Trixie’s eyes were already scanning the side of the road as they pulled ahead of the broken down bus on the shoulder.

“Katya!” Trixie yelled as he approached, unable to wait until he reached his friend’s side.

The Party

She looked around at the almost empty porch, finding Lena propped up on a railing, dangling her legs as she spoke animatedly to a person almost completely covered in shadow. Whoever it was sat in a lawn chair, legs spread out and a cigarette dangling from their fingers. Trixie watched as smoke rose into the air, higher and higher, catching the light of the moon as it peeked from behind the clouds.

Summary: Trixie is a senior in college and her world is about to be rocked by a girl she meets at a party. This fic is just, truly, an excuse for me to write lesbian smut. Enjoy!
