MUST READ!! Midnight Sun by Trish Cook
Tumblr media
Wow, I reas this book in one day. It’s only 258 pages long, but I’m proud of that achievement, as I had a lot else going on todsy!
Goodreads rating: 3.88
My rating: 5 OUT OF 5
In my book haul post I said “ It’s only short, at 258 pages, but I think it could be a story I really invest a lot of emotion in.” And boy was I right!! WHAT A TEAR JERKER.
I'm still wiping tears from my eyes. To be honest, I have no profound review on the writing-style or quality of this book, I was just hooked from page 1 and sped through it to the end. Love it!
I’d definitely recommend this to anyone and everyone. Such a quick and powerful story that I’ll definitely be thinking a lot about.

Harry Potter Spells Tag
Hi guys!
I was nominated by @jadeyraereads, as was everyone else who watched her latest video... but hey ho I wanted to have a go!
1. Expecto Patronum: A childhood book connected to good memories
Tumblr media
The first one that comes to mind is Gingersnaps by Cathy Cassidy. In the first years of high school, so between the ages of 12 and 14, I loved Cathy Cassidy. This book in particular I just absolutely loved, I think I read it about 8 times. My high school took me to a Q&A session with her, where I managed to get my copy signed.
2. Expelliarums: A book that too you by surprise.
Tumblr media
For this I’m going to say Midnight Sun by Trish Cook. I saw that a film had been made of this book, but didn’t really have the confidence in it being an amazing book. It’s quite small and the cover wasn’t too enthralling, but wow I loved this book! I gave it 5 out of 5 stars and I even wrote a blog post all about it, which you can find here.
3. Prior Incanto: The last book you read.
Tumblr media
Well this one is easy. Sleeping Giants by Sylvain Neuvel; it’s the last book I read. I finished it yesterday in fact. I gave this book 2 out of 5 stars – it was a bit of a let down to me…. But more of that in my upcoming OWLs blog post.
4. Alohamora: A book that introduced you to a genre you had not considered before.
Tumblr media
I have always struggled getting into historical fiction in the past, but I recently read Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys. I listened to it on audiobook and gave it 4 out of 5 stars, it was a really powerful story. I need to read a historical fiction as part of my OWLs so I’d say Salt to the Sea opened me to the experience.
5. Riddikulus: A funny book you’ve read.
Tumblr media
I don’t really like funny books, so I had to consult Goodreads for an idea to answer this question. I laughed at how bad How Hard Can Love Be? By Holly Bourne was… does that count?
6. Sonorus: A book you think everybody should know about.
Tumblr media
I’ll Give You The Sun by Jandy Nelson. I LOVED this book. I read it in one sitting on my phone on holiday and ordered a physical copy to arrive on my doorstep when I got home. I will link the blog post here for you to see more of my thoughts.
7. Obliviate: A book or spoiler you would like to forget having read.
Tumblr media
I’d like to remove Nightshade by Andrea Cremer from my memory – I have no more words.
8. Imperio: A book you had to read for school.
Tumblr media
My favourite book I read for English Literature at school was The Woman in Black by Susan Hill. If you gave me my exam on this book again, I’m sure I could pass on the amount I still remember about the themes and symbolism…. Loved it! I’ve got this ready to read again for my NEWTs reading challenge (this might be some time coming, I have until the new year to read a LOT of books).
9. Crucio: A book that was painful to read.
Tumblr media
I read a lot of books when I’m away on holiday, normally reading a 400ish page book every day. But I took You Can Run by Steve Mosby which is only a small book, but it genuinely took me about 5 days to read. It was okay in the end, and I passed it to my mum who enjoyed it more, but it was quite a painful experience.
10. Avada Kedavra: A book that could kill (interpret as you will).
Tumblr media
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by, of course, J.K Rowling. I recently finished this book and I could definitely say, I wouldn’t want to be hit over the head with it. Just Jesus, what a book – it’s huge.
So that’s it, thats all the tags! As I mentioned, keep an eye out for my OWLs blog post, it should be with you soon!
