Heute bin ich auf der Morgenrunde beim Bäcker vorbeigestolpert. Das war ein perfekter Start in den Tag. Dabei möchte ich gerne zugeben: Das Tripletraining von Dienstag und der frühliche Wecker hatten vorher, beim Wachwerden, ein reges Ausredenkarussell angetrieben. Aber der Vorsatz gewann und es hat sich gelohnt.

Soundscape 005: Mess Kid (New York)

MusicMap’s ‘Soundscape’ series is the easiest way to keep up with local music scenes and global trends. Every couple of weeks we visit a different country and ask a local artist to serve up a mix of the best new tracks from that territory.

Our latest mix comes from Latvia-born, Detroit-raised producer and DJ Artem Emelianov, better known as Mess Kid. After moving to New York in his late teens, Mess Kid quickly established himself on the city’s club circuit, DJing at fashion parties and collaborating with the likes of LE1F, M.I.A, IloveMakonnen and A$AP Ferg. He also recently earned plenty of attention for his scorching RIH-MIX project, which saw him deconstructing Rihanna’s ANTI to thrilling effect.

Mess Kid: ‘In this mix I wanted to not only showcase the incredible up and coming talent of NYC but also show the world what the future of hip-hop and R&B will sound like! I spent the last 10 years growing and evolving as a DJ/producer and a lot of the people in this mix are my close friends and peers who I watched transform into incredible artists throughout the years! I hope you all enjoy the mix as much as I enjoyed putting it together!’
