Here's a shot of the Not In Service R160B Siemens switching from the express to the local tracks between Avenue U and Avenue X bypassing this story station heading towards the Coney Island/Avenue X Yard and a Alstom R160-2 (G) Train departing this station heading towards Court Square, Queens. Photo was taken the Early August 2021. *Due to Tunnel Rehabilitation, F trains was running on the E line between Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Avenue & West 4th Street and then on the C line to Euclid. G train was running between Court Square & Church Avenue and then on the F line to Coney Island Stillwell Avenue. C train was running from 168th Street & West 4th Street and then on the E line to World Trade Center. E train was running between Jamaica Center & Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Avenue and then on the F line to Delancey Street-Essex Street. The (N) was split into two sections: Southern Portion from Times Square-42nd Street to/from Coney Island and a shuttle from Ditmars Blvd and Queensboro Plaza. The R62s once again made yet another surprised appearance on the (4) line. This was likely due to the need of extra service since the (3) was not running at all for Labor Day Weekend, and the (5) borrowing a few sets of R142/142As from the (4). And another note, on this day September 5th, 1983, the R62s began 30-day testing on the (4) line. A five-car consist of Bombardier R142 cars makes up an out-of-service train rumbling into Gun Hill Road on the express track, deadheading towards the 239th Street Yard further up north into the Wakefield section of the X. Personally from experience, it’s pretty rare to see a 5-car move along the WPR corridor if it’s not at night. So seeing this with the cotton candy sky, and part of Manhattan’s skyline in the back was probably the highlight of the summer.
