The Silliest Kitties (Mango & Morgz)

the mischief makers and bestest friends of all time mango and morgz are inseparable and are always up to something or other. The pair run their own youtube channel together where they make frequent badly edited challenge, prank and gaming videos. the pair share half a brain cell together and they wouldn’t have it any other way!

no matter the au this pair remain best friends no matter what wether that be as mischievous pirate crew mates, as fast friends in Rowan Clan after mango joins the clan or as the equally best friends Phoenix Wright and Maya Fey in the ace attorney au!!

Enemies To Still Enemies (Mitzi & Lloyd)

this duo first crossed paths when lloyd was trying to figure out a way to go and see the enigma breaking machine and mitzi was looking for a free ride on a plane. after successfully convincing lloyd that she’d provide him free air travel to wherever it is he’s off to lloyd joins her on the plane. little did lloyd know was that mitzi had gained access to the plane via impersonating a pilot and electing lloyd as her copilot. to cut a long story short mitzi crashes the plane with miraculously no casualties with mitzi running away from the crash site. mitzi wasn’t forgotten to lloyd though as a hate for random she at that had endangered his life and his chances to see the enigma machine only grew more and more with time. the feelings are reciprocated by mitzi and the pair despise each other.

The Theatre Kids (Mitzi & Soy)

the two eldest of the among us slide slibings mitzi and soy have bonded since mitzi’s return to the circus! the pair have bonded over their taste in music and over a shared love for musical theatre. though the pair don’t look like typical theatre kids you’d be very wrong to assume that because they’re the most dramatic duo to hit local stages. the pair also enjoy creating their own emo LP covers which they never use as they don’t have a band… yet.

Not At Girls Night (Miso & Lloyd)

miso and lloyd get along like two peas in a pod. the pair both enjoy their quiet time and don’t mind spending it in each others company. they always hang out together when it comes to the monthly girls night which they don’t attend due to being the only masc aligned kitties who don’t wish to attend as they’d much prefer to read a book in the quiet instead. if they aren’t reading books together lloyd is attempting to explain mathematical formulas to miso or miso is attempting to get lloyd into nightcore. they also frequently send each other minion memes, the best form of communication around.

Pretty Princesses (Lillibelle & Peaches)

when lillibelle first met baby peaches she knew that this little kitten was going to be her little buddy, and she was right! the pair love playing dress up, planting flowers and hosting the best tea parties around together. lillibelle would share absolutely anything from her dress up box with her little buddy and peaches has formed the idea that lillibelle is actually secretly a princess because of all of her pretty dresses.

it doesn’t matter what au they’re in they’re always buddies wether that be lillibelle helping care for peaches while mango and crew are at sea in the pirate au or as friends in the ace attorney au as Pearl Fey and Trucy Wright.

The Sauce Siblings (Miso & Soy)

the sauce siblings are miso and soy! miso has always idolised and look up to soy as the oldest of the family and has taken to recreating soy’s style through his own. soy was the one to teach miso how to make and trade kandi and introduced the little baby miso to nightcore where miso absolutely fell in love. soy enjoys having somebody who takes after them in style even if miso still incorporates the odd little bit in himself such as alvin and the chipmunks merchandise.

within the pirate au soy and miso are incredibly close being orphaned tradesman who operate the family business on the mainland. to miso soy is his mum, his dad, his picked fence and it’s not often that the duo are separated with only the occasional trip for miso on small adventures with clawdia’s crew.

Mangobelle (Mango & Lillibelle)

the original triple m ship makes it onto the duos list not just because of mango and lillibelle’s crushes on each other but also because outside of that they’re close friends too. though they disagree with each other from time to time on little things such as table manners at tea parties and the importance of washing the mud from your fur after you play outside the pair are still as close as can be with mango often being roped into playing dress up and attending tea parties with lillibelle and peaches.

Family Away From Home (Mango & Clawdia)

after the incident caused mango and his siblings to be separated from each other the young kitten was left to his own devices in the tropical rainforests of india where he was most certain to perish. however a kind orphaned tigress cub, clawdia, took him under her wing and suddenly mango had a new big sister. mango heavily depended on clawdia to survive in the beginning days and clawdia depended on mango to help her loneliness. they grew so close that while the others consider her more of a cousin but mango considers her to be his older sister even though they aren’t in the wild anymore. when in the wild clawdia wasn’t afraid to bare her fangs at anybody who dare threatened mango and now in society mango isn’t afraid to do the same for his big sis. clawdia is one of the only cats to ever be able to stop mango from causing major mischief which is an immense power for an individual to have.

clawdia and mango have a very close relationship in the pirates au as much like in the regular triple m she took on the role of caretaker for the young orange cat making him a member of her pirate crew. mango idolises clawdia much like how miso idolises soy and in the pirate au even wears an eyepatch like clawdia, even though he doesn’t need it.

Hydrogen Bomb vs Coughing Baby (Peaches & Keith)

a toddler and her imaginary (definitely not imaginary) friend who hates her! what’s not to love about this dynamic? peaches was created to be the ultimate life form that can trump all of the forces of nature and withstand anything thrown her way while keith was accidentally created out of a build up of dark matter which gave him a gooey shadow form which he can change shape at will. keith was cast aside into the shadows to he forgotten which left him mad at his creators and mad at the world which had rejected him whereas peaches was praised for simply existing and being surrounded by love and appreciation delivered directly to those who could care for her. keith is hell bent on destroying the child and taking on the title as “ultimate life form” for himself. peaches has no idea about any of this as she’s a baby. who’s the hydrogen bomb and who’s the coughing baby here?

Your Strange Cousins (Star & Pepper)

star and pepper as close sisters can be and are the strange cousins of the triple m who just kind of showed up one day having come a long long way all the way from Egypt just to see them. they’re very much an introvert and extrovert duo as star loves meeting new people and goes on mini adventures with the others while pepper much prefers to do her own thing quietly. both star and pepper are massive fans of the circus, especially clowns, with them often dressing up as clowns and doing little acts for each other in hopes of one day becoming performers together as a double act.

The Sea Gatos (Lillibelle & Morgz)

lillibelle and morgz are those cousins that are so close everybody mistakes them as sisters. the pair have been as close as can be every since they were teeny baby kittens with them doing everything together. the pair even learned to swim together and followed in their families footsteps by going for their first ocean swim side by side. even though they’re opposites they still care immensely about one another and their interests. lillibelle is one of the very few who’s able to convince morgz out of enacting her very bad ideas, only when mango isn’t getting involved and at that time it’s a lost cause.

much like miso and mango these kitties are close in every au being cousins in all of them! even the ace attorney au where they’re Maya Fey and Pearl Fey (though they’re ages have been swapped around).

Ginger Cat Chaos (Mango & Peaches)

what happens when you have the raw chaotic mischief of one orange cat and times it by two? you get mango and peaches! mango absolutely adores his baby sister, even though she cemented him as the middle child, and would do anything for his little mini me. he’s also very thankful that peaches inherited the mischief making genes making him, morgz and peaches an unstoppable chaotic duo. peaches loves her big brother too and is often found clinging to him or going for a little snooze next to him. who knew that when the “most imperfect” cat meet the “ultimate life form” they’d become so attached to one another.

within the ace attorney au a spin is put on their close relationship from being brother and sister to being dad and adopted daughter as they both play the part of Phoenix Wright and Trucy Wright. this being the only way i felt i could replicate their closeness to each other.

They’d Find Each Other In Every Universe (Miso & Mango)

the original duo who started it all these two would find each other in every life time and every universe. nothing can stop them from being the bestest brothers of all time. the pair perfectly balance each other out with mango’s mischief and miso’s love for rules. it’s their opposites that make their duo. even in the inverted fate au where every character is flipped on its head with miso becoming the mischief maker and mango becoming a little angel the duo still remain the bestest of brothers!

no matter the au the pair still find each other wether that’s miso finding mango in the warrior cats au, the two travelling together with the rest of clawdia’s crew from time to time or in the inverted fates au as mentioned prior.

2022, the year Venus finally secured the Converse and a Pepsi sponsorship. Arguably, this is the least liked year of Venus for a majority of Constellations for numerous reasons. Trying to replicate the success of Summer Luv!, the girls would release their 8th mini album, VENUS HIGH! with the title track Hi-Tops, along with a collaboration with the brand Converse.

Commercially, the song peaked at number ten on the Gaon Digital Chart and topped the Billboard K-pop Hot 100, their first number-one song on the chart. Following the release of Venus High!, Venus promoted the song with live performances on several South Korean music television programs and amassed six music show trophies. They also held a concert by Converse, which sold out in seven minutes.

Venus would come back with their fourth full album, their last project with beloved creative director LEXA. Love, Venus would feature the title track, "So Sweet," along with eleven other tracks.

"So Sweet" won eight first-place music program awards in South Korea, including a triple crown (three awards) on Inkigayo. It also won a Melon Weekly Popularity Award.

"So Sweet" debuted at number one on South Korea's Circle Digital Chart. It remained atop the chart for thirteen weeks, becoming the longest-running number-one song in its history. The song debuted number one on the Billboard Vietnam Hot 100 chart issue. It topped the chart for three consecutive weeks. In Japan, the song peaked at number 12 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100 and number 13 on the Oricon Combined Singles Chart.

The music video would feature heavy Pepsi product placement but is still beloved by fans as it's the last video directed by LEXA. Lexa would make a lengthy Instagram post announcing their departure from Angelico and Venus' creative director, leaving fans and the girls concerned in what direction they would go in next.

LEXA'S DEPARTURE LETTER: it only feels right to share my favorite moments with my favorite girls, though there are plenty more. if i could post 100 images on this post i would lol. as of today, i have officially stepped down as the creative director of venus. these five girls are so special, talented, and overall wonderful visionaries i wish had more freedom over their careers. i do not wish to get sued so i won't say much, but i hope you all can use critical thinking skills as to why i've decided to leave angelico. i wish yoonah, bliss, chloe, sena, and jiah nothing but so much love and well wishes for the best. The girls would take a short break, something unheard of in their career, to regroup and find a new creative director. In comes Adrian Reyes. Adrian would take over as not only their creative director but producer and marketing manager, ushering Venus into their most controversial era.

??? would be the ninth mini album by Venus with the title track GOTCHA. The ??? era would be defined by the marketing used to prepare for the era. Posters were posted around the world about the "missing sister of Venus" with four girls on the poster. Billboards asking, "Have you seen our moon?" would be put up around LA, Seoul, Busan, Tokyo, Shanghai, and various other cities featuring the four members Sena, Baebi, Jiah, and Bliss, but no Chloe. This led fans to believe she wasn't going to be included in the comeback until a thirty concept film, "Why Venus Has No Moons: ???" It was posted to their YouTube channel.

Venus was finally getting lore, and fans were...very mixed about it!

The album would come, and the title track, GOTCHA, would cause a mass debate on Twitter on whether the song was good or not. The debate still goes on to this day. "GOTCHA" won 10 first-place music program awards, including a triple crown on M Countdown.

In South Korea, the song debuted at number 17 on the Gaon Digital Chart for the issue dated and peaked at number 5 in its second week. It also debuted at number 1 both on the component Download Chart and on the component BGM Chart.  In the United States, the song debuted at number 5 on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart. It also debuted at number 37 on the Billboard Global 200 and 29 on the Billboard Global Excl. US during the same week.

Venus would win Artist of the Year and Best Female Group at the 2022 MAMA Awards.

Synopsis: If you were given the chance to live again, to right your wrongs, to deal with unfinished business, would you?

(WELL.. I DID IT I GUESS. If you’ve seen my previous post talking about me making this, well. Yeah. Don’t worry this won’t be often, I just feel overwhelmed right now with what’s been going on, won’t get into it, this is my treat for myself.)

Sebastian gasps as air suddenly fills his lungs once again. He swear he got shot just moments ago, but he managed to get away and… He felt cold, and everything felt like it was closing in around him. It was getting harder and harder to breathe. Everything had gone dark.

Now where was he? It looked like a living room. Whose house was this, and why did it look so oddly familiar?

The door suddenly opens and a strange looking man in a black mask walks in, “Ah, I knew another one was coming,”

Sebastian gasped and reached for his gun, only to find it wasn’t there.

“What are you trying to grab for? A triple-barrel, sawed off shotgun?” He chuckled, “Unfortunately, such things aren’t allowed in here. Don’t worry, you’ll get it back when we’re done,”

He glared back at the man, and took in his peculiar appearance. There were small wings on the sides of his head as well as another pair folded beside his hips. The halo would’ve convinced him an angel had decided to meet with him, but with the black horns almost curving into the halo, he must be more than just any angel.

The man turns away from him and began to open a few drawers with what seems to be telekinesis. Sebastian watches him for a second before letting out a growl.

“Hey! Who the hell are you? And where are we?” He questioned.

“I’ll answer all of your questions in just a second…” He was opening a lot of drawers and soon started to physically open them himself, “M-My apologies… I tend to lose my files whenever I have to change the look of this realm,”

“F-Files?”

He then pulls out a file, “Ah, here we go. Sebastian Solace, right? Born in 1993, you have a big sister and a little brother, arrested for nine murders and-”

Sebastian cuts him off, “Oh yes, read my life story, will you?”

The man takes a seat across from him, “You’re not the only fish I’ve come across. If I am to do my job correctly, I need to make sure I have the right one,”

“Are you going to answer my questions now?”

“Ah, yes. Pardon me. I am called Oberon Sol. Where we are, well…” he paused as if trying to think of an explanation.

By how he’s talking, one might assume he’s been doing this for a while but doesn’t even have an explanation for where this place is. Sebastian gave him an irritated look as a response.

“This place resides between the thin line of life and death. As for the room itself, I make sure to conjure up an environment you’d feel rather safe in,” he looks up and around for a moment before looking back at him, “Is this your home? I tried filling in some spots to make it more lively,”

Sebastian hesitantly looked around. It was familiar, but he couldn’t really place it. It’s been so long, he doesn’t really remember what his house looked like anymore. He can’t tell which parts were actually part of his memory and which was substituted. It looked familiar, but different.

“A place I feel safe in, huh?”

Oberon nods, going back to read his file, “More often than not, I do end up creating someone’s room. Just the singular room of the house, but yours? The reason why I was late was because the entire house was created. It shocked me, honestly,”

That must be why the curtains are covering the windows. It’s probably to make sure unfortunate souls don’t see something they shouldn’t just beyond this place.

“Huh, so the sinners are the cause of this…” he suddenly mutters.

That draws Sebastian’s attention, “Sinners? Wait, do you mean Urbanshade?”

“The very same. I’ve had my eyes on them for quite some time. I’ve had many of their prisoners end up here too,” Oberon hummed and leaned back in his seat, “So the sinners did find out you weren’t guilty of the murders you were accused of. Looks like they couldn’t do much since you were “legally declared dead” whatever that means… Honestly, I don’t get why you humans make up this stuff…”

Sebastian looks up at him in shock, “Wh..what did you just say?”

Two small stars appear in Oberon’s right eye, acting as pupils. He was looking at him, “The ones you call “Urbanshade” had found out you were not guilty of the nine murders you were accused for in late 2015, and that you were falsely charged with the “death penalty” as some of you humans like to call it,”

“They knew…?” He slams his hands on the desk, “They knew and they never told me?! I had to die and meet up with an angel to figure this shit out?!”

“I will ignore the angel comment,” he closes his file before twirling his hand for a second, causing a document to appear in front of Sebastian.

It had Urbanshade’s logo on it. He then leans forward, crossing one leg over the other. When Sebastian doesn’t seem to react other than staring at it, he reaches over and taps the document.

“Maybe giving this a quick read will clear a few things up for you,”

Sebastian glances to him before hesitantly opening the document. The moment he saw a picture of himself in the first page, he closed it immediately.

“What kind of sick game are you playing?” He snarled.

Oberon shook his head, “There is no game, Mr. Solace. I am simply doing my job,”

“What is your job?!” He yells this time, glaring at him.

“I believe you humans refer to those like me as “grim reapers,” but your interpretation of what they look like is…a little humorous, actually. But I do not retrieve souls, and I am not here to guide you to the afterlife,” he explains.

“Then what are you?”

“Well, to be fair, I suppose I was created as an angel, but I don’t quite like associating myself with them. How about this? In short, I am your salvation,” he leans back, his starry pupils not taking his eyes off of him, “I can bring you back to the land of living so you can have that second chance to get what you want. That is your only chance I will be giving you,”

“That sounds too good to be true. What is it that you want?”

“Nothing,” he shakes his head, “Though, I suppose I could ask you to deliver punishment, but you have done that to a few anyway. I saw some passing by,”

“What? You can’t do it yourself?”

“To take human life goes against everything I stand for,”

He grits his teeth. There was no way he wasn’t asking for anything else just to bring him back to life.

“And…” he continues, looking down at his document, “I hate knowing someone was wronged and was sentenced to death for it,”

“Is that why I’m here? Why you’re here?”

“I never understood why you humans always hurt each other while also claiming to follow a set of rules. You destroy and bring down others when you should’ve loved them unconditionally. You condemn the innocent and let the guilty run free. You endlessly slaughter because of different beliefs no matter what that might be. So I want to help those much like you. Those caught in the crossfire, left behind, manipulated, abused…” He paused, then sighed, “I meet with them, and should they wish to go back to handle unfinished business, then they will. If they don’t, I let them go to wherever the path they choose takes them,”

A second chance, and all he had to do was say yes? No exchange or sacrifice needed. No Ferryman token required. It was like he had plucked him up from the trenches and was set into his care. An “angel” who willingly revived people if they so wish.

“So, my question to you is… Would you like to return?”

Urbanshade was going to pay for what they did, “Yes,”

“Very well,” he points to the house’s exit, “There’s the door. You may leave when you’re ready,”

Sebastian turns to the door. It really was just like that. He can just leave right now, but seeing as someone related to angels is sitting right in front of him…

“If this place exists between life and death, then you imply that there’s an afterlife. So what? A Heaven and Hell?”

Oberon just tilted his head. His tone implies he is smiling under the mask, “Do you believe in the existence of those places?”

Sebastian gives him a questioned look. He himself wasn’t that religious, at least not anymore after everything, “Where will they end up in?”

“Where do you think sinners end up in?”

He suspected as much. He just sighed and leaves him without another word. Just as he opened the door, he wakes up again in a dark hallway. It’s cold. He gets up and looks around. The familiar structure and the water seeping through the cracks in the window. The sound of gunfire through the walls. The blood trail that stopped just beneath him.

the reason a lot of people largely unfamiliar with modern kirby go "forgotten land did X thing for the first time in kirby, it's so cool", even if it's often not the case, is not only because they probably barely played kirby, but also because forgotten land puts most of the series best qualities at the forefront the way no other game did.

big post follows where i ramble with comparisons to other games while highlighting what i think forgotten land did right.

first of all, it's very upfront about it's theming. and it's very important in how it stands out.

i ADORE kirby triple deluxe, don't get me wrong. and I LOVE the fairy tale theming of the game, but if you weren't *aware* that this is what the game goes for, it can easily fly over your head.

kirby is inherently whimsical series, so a lot of fairy tale-isms in that game don't stand out nearly as much as it was probably intended. it could've been easily remedied if the game framed itself as a "fairy tale" more rather than them keeping this subtle. similar to how classic paper mario games had storybook intros, for example.

star allies similarly has a big theme about friendship but due to various factors, it feels superficial at best or unnoticeable at worst. because a lot of aspects that theoretically could make it work are not highlighted enough.

if you don't have prior context of other games, it doesn't come across as this game celebrates friendships kirby acquired over the past 25 years of the franchise's existence and more like he's casually brainwashing them for his own cause.

i understand that with big amount of playable characters you can't possibly make unique animations for every single one of them to sell you on this idea, but if you can't handle the scope, then don't go for said scope.

jambandra cult's dark parallels to the franchise's main cast are likewise not highlighted enough because most of it is not shown via gameplay or cutscenes but through easy to miss pause screen text.

robobot and now forgotten land are partially so loved because it's very clear what's the overall theming of the game and it's stages is. in robobot it's funny robots, capitalism, industrialism, colonization. in forgotten land it's memories, responsibilities, nature, abandoned civilizations. it's not me just reaching, game is called "forgotten land" and part of leon's motivation (albeit when he was under id-f86's influence) is his frustration with being left behind by the former leading civilization of the planet, aka them up and leaving their responsibilities behind.

forgotten land stands so much to people because it gives it damn ALL to stand out by making every facet of itself being connected to underlying themes the game presents.

second, game goes out of it's way to SHOW the player what kirby is all about. it's not shying away from exposing the casual player to lore or the importance of post-game content. instead of only hinting that all of this stuff might be important, game demonstratively nudges you into the right direction, whether you were initially interested or not.

"the lore" is tied to the main secondary collectible. a gameplay element. if person playing the game is invested to 100% it, they will most likely try to collect them all and read all of the flavor text in the process. likewise, even if player is not interested in 100%-ing the game, they might be hooked by the flavor text itself and be interested what it has to say about other copy abilities, characters, objects.

previous modern kirby games didn't try to make you feel engaged with the lore the same way. sure, there were some benefits of the pause screens that FL can't replicate (we lost the classic type of flavor text where the final boss directly addresses Kirby and we hear their thoughts), but it's a small loss in grand scheme of things.

simply pausing the game to read the flavor text is not stimulating the same way as directly working to get it. it becomes more intriguing this way, RNG element ironically making it even more special when a figurine with especially juicy lore pops up.

similarly, post-game content was made explicitly all "canon" in FL. not entirely new concept, we had similar cases in "revenge of the king" in super star ultra and "heroes in another dimension" in star allies, but FL is the first game that actively encourages you to do more stuff after you did the main story. it literally baits you with the "to be continued" screen after the credits.

not only it helps the game to beat "it's short!" allegations by making it clear that even besides main story there's plenty of stuff to sink your teeth into, it also simplifies the importance of post-game modes too. there is no "what if scenario" or "parallel story" bullcrap. it's straightforward. "isolated isles" picks up where main story left off, "ultimate cup z" picks up where "isolated isles" left off.

and the last, but certainly not least, the characterization.

i will argue that forgotten land is the best kirby game since kirby 64 in terms of giving personality to the main cast. some people accused elfilin of being a little bland, and admittedly his personality is not as fun as, say, magolor or susie, but he's still likeable and fleshed out in his own way. we actually get a lot more dialogue from him than you might expect, he has a lot to say in the waddle dee town and he comments about various locales on the world map, even ones where he would be kidnapped during the main story.

likewise, bandana dee, meta knight and king dedede all got their moments to shine. this partially ties to flavor text being easily accessible, but due to said flavor text no longer being tied to SIMPLY boss fights, it means that their characterizations and side-plots can be expanded upon further. making their roles in the story feel more thought out than it might come across otherwise.

and even outside of that, each of them gets a shining moment that shows what are they all about. meta knight casually challenges kirby on a training duel and gives his all. the first fight we have with meta knight where he's not under some sort of mind control since squeak squad. bandana dee constantly reminds us that he's very much willing to help us and canonically accompanies us through out entire adventure even if we don't take him with us. king dedede, while brainwashed for majority of the game, gets to do single coolest and selfless act through his entire history of existence, finally putting final nail in the coffin of "dedede is a villain" crap.

forgotten land might not be the first game to do any of the things i just mentioned, but the presentation means EVERYTHING. forgotten land impressed a lot of people, left a strong impact, precisely because it had way better presentation than any kirby game that came before it. this is precisely why it resonated so much with so many different people and will continue to do so.

Do Delivery Moogle quest, The Past Is a Story We Never Tell is about the Lizeh sisters and Coeurl Claw women and the way they are treated. It triggers a Coeurl King fight (FATE not FATE?). I don’t have the Coeurlclaw women pics. Was still new and the notion of timelines diversion from Meteor (aka follow cinematic jobs) and duty trust addon accidental gaslighting hadn’t hit me yet.

Una Tayuun and here I was thinking we might have a quest to get her memories back. Cat distribution system is active in the Scions company(technically two males and three female excluding Miqo'te WoL ).

Forgotten spring Miqo’te women and their skirmishes with the Amalj’aa and tied into Amalj’aa tribal with Loonh Gar.

I remember J’moldva from the Blacksmith questline (her of the groovy red shades). And then to see her pop up with Arevnvald and V’mah Tia, it be like squee after how J Tribe were name dropping her the whole time Hylnyan was questing around Ala Ghiri. Towards the end of the Age, Albion was conquered for a time by people from the mainland, and it opened the land to the outside world and began the Age of Kings, patriarchal rule by Kings and Landlords; the Kingdoms were formed, but the Island remained the second centre of power. The feud between Kings and Priestesses takes place in this time. Towards the end of the era, news of the New Religion spread from the mainland. The Autumn of Brocéliande. The Purge or the Age of King Uther the Purifier, during this time, almost all branches of magic were destroyed, and the estates, orders and laws were formalised. The harsh winter of Brocéliande. Towards the end of this Age, the prophecies the Once and Future King, Emrys the Great, the Last High Priestess and Arthur's Bane were uttered. The New Age or Golden Age, the era of King Arthur's reign. Many believe it to be an era of prosperity, unity of Albion and peace between the sword, plough and faith.

Triple Goddess: or Maiden, Mother and Crone; Spring, Summer, Winter, Future, Present, Past. Trinity of the times of the Old Religion, she creates destiny and judges people, is connected to Nature, has power over the entire manifested world.

Keeper of the Crystal Cave, over time, people began to abuse the Cave's magic, such as chipping stones from it (Crystal Neahtid, Crystal of Primordial Fire) and the Cave hid itself from humans, revealing itself only to the pure-hearted and those a Keeper invites in. The first Keeper was the Taliesin the Bard. Attracted by the magical music of the Cave, he hung his glorious harp on an oak tree and found himself bound to the Cave forever until someone comes and takes his burden for themselves. He was gone to the spiritworld after Elaine the Daughter of Aglain became a new Keeper.

Sources of magic, natural places that emanate energy. The place of pilgrimage and worship of the druids and other followers of the Old Religion. Natural objects such as trees, rocks, lakes, springs, caves. The Goddess touched the earth in these places in the First Days. By destroying the sources one can weaken, almost destroy the magical power in the world.

Three branches of magic: High Magic, the strongest and deepest of the three, belonging to the Ancient Folk, the Goddess herself, the dragons and the Sidhe of Avalon. Gone from the face of the Earth, can't be detected by a senser. Wild magic, the magic of nature, of the visible world, of spirits and creatures, of magical springs. Threatened with extinction by the actions of Camelot. Old magic, the magic of humans: witches, sorcerers, druids. The quintessence of all types of magic. Endangered because of the Purge. It is predicted that children with the gift will cease to be born in the New Age.

Green Spirits, the spirits and forces of the forest that fill nature with life.

Spiritworld, the afterlife where a dead human meets their parents; a grey plain of mist and fire. The souls wear grey rags, whether they were royals or peasants.

Trees, in the druidic teachings said to be the mediators between the energies of the heaven and the earth.

New Religion, Celtic Christianity from the Isle of Éire. It is spread amongst the nobles of Camelot, some villages and slaves. In Camelot, is led by Abbot Ambrosius, who, with Uther's permission, founded the first monastery. The dead are buried in crypts or underground.

The rune of death, or runemark, a magical coin given to Mordred by Disir, the voice of the Goddess, with instructions to pass it to Arthur as a sign of judgement against him. It is inscribed with the cryptic signs of the First Ones: zodiac, scales, triquetra and others. When Arthur touched it, Judgement began.

The rune of life, a coin given by Dochraid to Morgana. It is decorated with a simple spiral. Said to bring the dead back to life. Morgana threw it into Avalon when she tried to heal the mortally wounded Arthur.

Crystal of Primordial Fire, one of the many treasures, books and artifacts appropriated by King Uther during the Purge and hidden in Camelot's treasury. Belonged to the Druids, owned by Mordred and Emrys. In the ancient days it was chipped from a great root crystal in the depths of the Cave. Contains the energy of the Creation's magic.

Tanllyd, the flaming sword, or fiery sword. Found by Mordred in a spring in the Crystal Cave. Gives strength to a warrior. If pointed at a fire, the blade ignites a flame that is safe for the wielder and crushing for the enemy. The flame dies out if the blade is pointed at sunlight. Participated in the Battle of Camlann Valley on King Arthur's side.

Taliesin Chronicles and Songs of Talesin, books written by Princess Eleanor of Nemeth about her missing lover Taliesin in the old times. Hidden in Camelot in Gaius's library, they contained instructions on how to find the Crystal Cave.

The Rowan Tree, the sacred tree of the Island of the Blessed, born in Brocéliande, destroyed in the Purge. The former crest of Camelot before the Pendragons' Golden Dragon. The Rowan Staff was made from one of its branches.

The Round Table, an ancient table of silver marble carved with the symbols of the elements and four sides of the world. Once belonged to the Sidhe, then to Queen Boudicca's son, later to Lord Ector and Arthur Pendragon. The Round Table represents equality and nobleness.

Camelot, the most great and glorious kingdom of the seven kingdoms of Albion. The capital goes by the same name; surrounded with hills and linden trees. Consists of: The White Castle, home of the Royal Family, Knights of Camelot and Court, Higher and Lower Towns.

Brocéliande, a vast ancient and magical forest of oaks and beeches north of Camelot, separating Camelot from the other Kingdoms. On the edges, inhabited by common folk, in the depths it is inhabited by wild animals, monsters and spirits. Home of the wandering druid clan of Brocéliande, the clan of Leader Aglain. They came there to hide on the advice given by Priestess Nimueh in the early days of the Purge after Aglain's mother was executed by Uther. Brocéliande contains a Druid shrine, the Stone Circle of monoliths with huge runes of unknown writing. On the day of Uther's death, Leader Aglain planted an acorn and the ashes of a burned sacred oak tree in its centre. On the day of Aglain's own death, it was already a mature tree.

Avalon, a mystical ancient lake and an isle with a tower. Hidden in the mist even in the brightest of days. The isle is home to the fairyfolk: the High Fae Sidhe and the Pixie Fae. In the days of Arthur's ancestor King Vortigern and his court wizard Cornelius Sigan, the cruel Wild Hunt of the Fairy Queen was defeated and banished from the world of men. Since then, the High Fae have never shown their faces in Camelot again. Pixies, on the other hand, can sometimes come, such as through the buckthorn tree. Fairyfolk is afraid of iron.

The Valley of the Fallen Kings, a forgotten place where the Crystal Cave is hidden; known for two huge stone statues of kings. The first battle of Albion took place here, a battle between white and black magic when the white won and the black was convicted.

Northern Wastes or Valley of No Return, Several centuries ago was inhabited by giants. Now extinct, they left the huge ruins of their castles of black stone. Nowadays, the Saxons and other tribes of the North have settled in the Valley and are engaged in farming, slave trade and mining.

The Hovel, a place in the woods near the Valley of the Fallen Kings where Morgause and Nimueh were hiding from the Purge.

The Island of the Blessed, a magical place of the ancient rulers and High Priestesses of Camelot and all Albion: High Priestesses of the Triple Goddess and their novices and maidservants. Lost its former glory in the Age of the Kings, destroyed in the Purge. The castle, the altars, the menageries of magical beasts, the sacred groves of cherry and rowan trees were run by the Nine Sisters. Men were forbidden to enter the Island. After the Purge, the ruins became home to the last of the Nine, Nimueh, and her apprentice Morgause of Orkney.

The Ancient Folk, or the First Ones, the first people who learnt magic and the secrets of the Goddess, who devoted themselves to the knowledge and left the land to live in the hills. Some artifacts of them are still scattered across Albion, such as triskelions carved in stones, statues and crystals. The Old Tongue, the language of Magic, and the oghamic runes once belonged to them as well.

Dochraid or witch of the earth, the first human child to be bathed in a magical spring thousands of years ago. She became an immortal being connected to the fertility and power of the earth. When Uther banished magic from the land, a curse was placed on her body and face that reflected the state of nature's forces and hidden streams during his reign. Was healed when magic returned. Her sister, the witch of the water drowned herself at the bottom of Avalon during the Purge; nothing is known of the fire and air witches.

High Priestesses, women dedicated to the Goddess and her rituals, known by their glory and might. Protected by the initiation, they cannot be killed, but can die from natural causes or from acts of extremely powerful magic, such as the magic of Emrys or weapons of High Magic.

Druids or forest people, in the old times were saviours, judges, counsellors of the Kings, folk priests and healers that lived in the villages near the White Mountains. Now the few remaining clans wander in exile with their tents and wagons, awaiting the Golden Age and the coming of Emrys. Most clans preach peace, love and non-violence. They worship the Triple Goddess and the Green Spirits, draw magic from nature, celebrate the rhythms of the Wheel of the Year and the journey of the Moon; burn their dead. The art of healing is known as the druids' characteristic craft.

Witches, women of magic not of Druidic lineage. They are said to live by the rhythms of day and night and know blood magic.

Seers, people with the ability to see the future. The source of their visions is said to be either the dead of their kin or the Goddess herself. The visions are often cryptic and obscure, but can be contained and controlled with crystals from the Crystal Cave.

Healers, a rare gift of magical energy healing. The healer places their hands on the patient and feels which element in the body has been disturbed or needs to be restored; golden light pours from their hands. After the act of healing, the healer feels darkness or heaviness in their hands depending on the degree of illness and shakes it off to the ground.

Sensers, people who can perceive others' emotions, see auras and energy vibrations.

I stole a peek into my friend’s drafts of OCs that they like to shove into their dusty closet (aka google docs) and much to my own surprise I think I like the spare shogun puppet one (based on Ei’s lore stories about making “countless experiments” and “many failed products”) because it’s such a delightful mix of serious but also wacky. To quote another friend of another fandom that I frequent: “instead of choosing sugar, spice and rainbow sprinkles, they really woke up and chose violence, fire ants, wasabi-flavored Doritos and a touch of blowtorch to make Teyvat’s most bizarre crème brûlée.” And might I personally add, it’s been sprinkled with the chaotic flavors of other animes you’re most likely not familiar with. Example POV from an outside perspective: You’re a Treasure Hoarder and you come across a lovely lass in the dead of night, and think she’ll make for an easy target to rob. Even moreso as you get closer and notice that she’s dragging something that is, by the sound of it, quite heavy (like a forest boar or a crocodile or something after a hunt). But then you get closer, and you see that she’s dragging not a boar, or a crocodile— It’s a Ruin Grader. Not its eyeball-core-thingamajig. Not one of its arm. Not of its legs. A WHOLE-ASS RUIN GRADER. And you keep seeing her several times doing a bunch of other crazy shit. And your confusion (and mounting fear) triples when she washes out the hair dye and you realize she resembles the Raiden Shogun. Oh, you know, the crazy lightning booba sword lady that dusted one of the Fatui Harbingers like the latter was a bug spinning cobwebs in her house? The girl: “Ehe, m—me? I’m just a housewife—” Treasure Hoarder: 😭 “‘JUst A hOUse wIfe’ mY ASS!!! WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU—” Insert that woman yelling at a cat meme (with the Treasure Hoarder as the woman yelling and the girl as the cat). Why am I dropping this in your inbox? Because I can imagine see your Niwa as the other woman holding back the first one (the Treasure Hoarder crying and losing their mind). Obvs Niwa is (unfortunately) not in the actual drafts cuz he’s, like, dead…but I couldn’t help imagining your Niwa in this kind of scenario since the Treasure Hoarder is going to be a running gag (the poor soul). 😬

I'll be the first to admit that I'm very ignorant of many animes! I am a I know of them more than I am a I've watched that one in a lot of cases (if I'm not outright just plain ???)! But, agreed, that there are lots and lots of examples of what you speak of with the characters in Genny Pact! Even some of the NPCs have that about them, and it makes me love them all the more since they, somehow, win my heart that way!

hi all soupy here to deliver you all the monthly blog update (they seem to occur monthly so might as well make it an official thing) let’s get into everything that the triple m and mods have been up to over august!

i know i say this for every update but the fact files will be going up very soon i swear they’ve just got some details to be added in and then we can get to work on some new fact files (say what now?)

august saw Clawdia, Lloyd and Lillibelle become real and join the triple m family in their physical forms! Lillibelle received her very own announcement post from quippy and Clawdia also got her own announcement post as well but lloyd is yet to have his for some reason…

we also celebrated lloyd’s birthday! he actually arrived on his birthday too which is a pretty strange coincidence

in august we also saw the arrival of brand new characters to the lore too those being: Star and Pepper Otta, strange twins and cousins of the triple m who look a lot like Mitzi and Miso and also Jenni Katze, an unreleased kitty who Quippy found online. all three of them will be getting fact files but work on theirs will only begin after we’ve got the current ones finished and posted (or at least queued)

another mysterious character has came to be in this month but they’re a slippery fellow and master of hiding so we’ll have to talk about them another time…

there was also development on a wider non-cat cast but there’s not really much to say for that quite yet

quippy also worked extremely hard at creating a hunger games simulator featuring the triple m main cast plus the wider non-cat cast i meantioned before! though it’s not finished quite yet it’s totally worth mentioning because she’s worked super hard on making it

quippy has also been going some amazing drawings for an au she’s working on and i myself am also plotting things down for an au of my own so stay tuned for those developments!

i also suggested to quippy that we should do a triple m awards ceremony around the time of the 1st anniversary but we’ll have to wait and see how the blog and cats are doing before the idea goes any further

I actually didnt know that Dark Crisis:YJ was releasing today??? I thought it was supposed to be released on the 27? But my life has been rough the last week so I guess I got confused.

I have seen people talking negative about it tho, it has like two continuity errors, bad characterization and fanon things...? (there is like a panel of tim saying he needs coffe). I haven't read it yet and I want to know, was it really that bad or was it mid-bad?. Like was this writed on the dev*n gr*yson jon pride story way (horrible) or was it T*m T*ylor SOKE (very mid-bad) way?

Ngl I feel bad for a friend who pre-ordered the 3 DC:YJ numbers (I pre-order the #2 cuz of the kon cover), we arent from the U.S.A and normally getting recent comics from comicbook shops here its really dificult (they will get here like 1 or 3 years later) so most of the time we pre-order and then pray to jesus that the comic is gonna be good lol

I hope that the rest of the book isnt really this bad tho, especially for the fact that she is the writter for Tim solo.

no, i don’t think i’d call this bad in the way that a lot of taylor and grayson’s work is. my problems come from me thinking that this issue made a lot of characters feel almost mean spirited which i’m not sure if that was the intention or not. i almost don’t feel like the core four and cissie are even friends. i also really think an editor should’ve double or triple checked over a number of past events that were brought up as there's two big, glaring continuity errors - which is strange coming from an issue that seems to pat itself on the back for referencing older material from the 90's.

this got long as it usually does with me so under the cut it goes

there's a super basic and obvious mistake in cassie referring to clark, bruce, and barry collectively as the boys' dads. its flash lore 101 that barry is bart's grandfather, and clark and conner have repeatedly referred to each other as brothers for decades now. in bendis's young justice vol. 3, he made a similar mistake of having bart refer to wally as his uncle when they are cousins and it’s jeven ognats who is bart’s uncle. only bruce can be considered tim's father.

but the big two ‘how-did-this-happen’ continuity errors in the issue come back to back about a third of the way in.

one is in reference to the kiss between tim and cassie back in teen titans vol. 3 after conner’s death - something that was clearly meant to be two friends very poorly grieving together. they dated (if you can call it that) for a hot second because they were kind of the only one the other had left, until cassie realized this wasn’t good for them and broke it off. dark crisis: young justice explicitly says that conner never knew about this relationship between them, and that cassie doesn’t want conner to know.

they were mourned by their family, friends, and the community. clark took a year off from being superman after conner died. tim and cassie both changed their costumes in honour of him. wally fought inertia for being responsible for bart’s death. they both had very public funerals and memorial sites. i don’t know what the point is to basically lie and make it seem as if barely anyone cared about them. that just seems very cruel to me in an issue that already is pretty dismissive of them.

moving into the nostalgia bait sequence with revisiting the events of first issue of young justice: we’re not sure exactly what’s going on yet (time travel? alternate dimension? simulation?), so whatever this is could potentially explain away these errors, and they also aren’t as important as the two above, but i feel the need to point them out anyways:

the team doesn’t get the name young justice until issue #1 (“no, we’re young, but just us.” “oh, okay! young justice!”), so alfred and dubbilex telling tim and conner they have young justice alert doesn’t make sense.

conner doesn’t receive the name kon-el until an issue of superboy vol. 4 that was published in 1999. young justice vol. 1 #1 was published in 1998, so dubbilex would just refer to conner as ‘kid’ or ‘SB’ as he and every other character did for a bulk of the 90′s.

cassie at the beginning of young justice vol. 1 still had her black wig and goggles costume.

however, tim not being able to find anything past superman’s death and funeral from 1993 is actually interesting. conner would still be in a test tube at cadmus, bart would still be in the future, cassie wouldn’t have met diana or zeus, and tim would still be more or less a solo act with the young justice team not having been formed at this point.

with that clue, i’m willing to move past the snags in continuity from that part of the issue for now. the others from before regarding the tim and cassie kiss and the bart and conner memorials i’m less willing to forgive. those are major events in these characters’ histories and part of huge runs that tie into important events, not a small detail found in one off random issue from 30 years ago.

i’m not crazy about fitzmartin’s work so far, but i think dc is just really lacking right now across the board. which is a shame because i do love this world and these characters and i want to keep up with their stories. but this issue was a big miss for me, and i gotta say this specific bit really made me cringe and roll my eyes.

if i do decide to read her new solo tim, i feel like i can expect more of this same quality.

Just Little Ventrue Things ~

I finished a Camarilla Ventrue run of VTMB. Mostly, the only thing Ventrue these days know how to do is Dominate, run screaming, eat hot chip, and lie, and [high falsetto voice] here’s a list of other nonsense I discovered:

PC’s name is Christina; she’s a Dominatrix because I’m bi. Her sire was one of her clients, and she’s actually very, very angry about his death. She doesn’t mind being a vampire. She’s Wiccan and part of a coven

In this Camarilla run, I decided I would only do quests given by Camarilla members. My justification was that, while Christina is intelligent and curious about lore, she focuses on tasks that immediately relate to her and her goals. She’s not curious about others; won’t go out of her way to talk to them. She’s not a bleeding heart, like my other PCs, and she believes in the Camarilla’s laws. She just hates LaCroix for killing her sire. Her plan during the game is to curry as much favor within the Cam as possible and cozy up to LaCroix so she can stab him.

Went straight to LaCroix, called him “sir,” and he name-dropped Napoleon.

LaCroix tells Christina to go visit the Anarchs. She blows the Anarchs off (Nines made a growly face, Damsel dialog yowl-exited out after I asked if she wanted to join the Cam; Skelter threatened to murder me twice). When LaCroix told Christina that, while he admired her Cam loyalty, she must listen to her enemies to understand what they wanted, it felt like he was actually being a good sire and mentor.

That’s weird.

When Christina asked for his history, he very carefully explained his lineage, like the important part of Ventrue culture it is.

Overall, I found LaCroix-being-nice-to-me extremely unsettling.

Sir. Stop smiling at me, sir. Stop being impressed I don’t ask for money. STOP MAKING ME UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE LIKE YOU, SIR.

In contrast, LaCroix sounded genuinely betrayed at the end

For the first time ever, I didn’t kill anyone during the Museum quest! This is because Christina ran very fast and Dominated every guard as quickly as possible. Every single fucking guard knew she was there, but could do nothing about it, because they were dancing. The door to the sarcophagus locked (it will do this if too many guards are agro), but locked doors are no match for noclip hack.

This is definitely a glitch, but Christina brushed up against Caine, and a worried voice said, “Are you all right?” It sounded like the same voice actor, but a higher pitch?

Christina asked Caine who he is, and Caine replied that he “gets people where they’re going. [He’s] a driver,”  which is a nice nod (lol) to both his literal job as a driver and as a shepherd/creator/god to Kindred. Caine creates and makes fate.

Caine triple checks with Christina that she’s sure Strauss won’t betray her. Thanks, Vampire Dad. :’D

For some reason, only other Ventrue guarded LaCroix’s tower. I wonder if this is intentional. Like all the other Camarilla Clans backed Strauss and left? So only LaCroix’s Ventrue lackeys remain? Anyway, it created some weird moments where Christina fought her double.

Hololive / Nijisanji Cover Digest for August

5th - Phony by Machita Chima

The final product of Chima’s journey. Her operatic background meant that she would search for more operatic of the popular songs, but I think she does this very modern song justice.

7th - Kaibutsu by Shiranui Flare

The MV is on fire and her singing is always on fire. That’s Flare for ya. Flare always can bring a little menace, a little bit of S for Noel’s M needs, and this cover brings that in spades.

7th - The Owl ~The Owl Tells That We Have Uninvited Guests~ by Nun Bora

Bora always has a nice voice, because apparently that’s a requirement for being good at APEX (why is everyone at VSpo good at singing?) and this song is uses her voice very well.

11th - Haru wo Tsugeru by Rikkaroid

Start of Rikka’s First Take tribute and he starts with one of my favorite songs, the first single by yama. And Rikka doesn’t disappoint with his interpretation. He’s just so nice to listen to.

12th - Blessing by Lamy, Botan, Nene, Polka

NePoLaBo stands out as the best gen group in terms of singing, and this distinction is best shown through the four group covers for their anniversary. All four are fantastic, go listen.

13th - ZZZ by Asuka Hina

For her much belated 100K. It’s a cutesy cover for a cutesy voice producer, I believe?

13th - Cry Baby by Hoshimati Suisei

Suisei needs a song with power and emotion and Official Hige DANdism went out of their way to create a song that does just that. Suisei is at its best when she starts down low and raises her pitch like a firework, and this song is basically that.

15th - Vampire by Yozora Mel

I really like Mel’s voice. It’s cute but not cutesy. Like Kiara, her voice fits the range of VOCALOIDs, but Mel’s delivery is much more smooth. It’s almost like listening to the Idea of this song, the most idealized version, and so this is my pick for Vampire. Thank you.

17th - Indonesian Folk Medley by HoloID 1 & 2

I think what makes this cover so special is that you can feel the pride and joy in the singers and the production. This is their introduction to their world to us, and it is freaking great.

21st - Shin Takarajima by Sasaki, Ririmu, Shiina, Yashiro & Chaika

This cover is just a fascinating thing. The dance is a great recreation, and I always love Ririmu ‘Oh!’ as we transition to the chorus. Deron and Rion’s cheerleading is a nice touch.

22nd - Turing Love by Aiba Uiha & Mayuzumi Kai?

The dupe that shocked the world, and yet many people lapped it up, getting a million views in less than a week, although the views decreased sharply. Mayu’s UTAU is one of the best, and I think it was used so well here, and also it just fits his lore too well. Challenging but worth it.

28th - Magia by Tokino Sora, Fuji Aoi & Suntory Nomu

Sora, Aoi, Nomu triple is nothing to scoff at, but it almost felt nostalgic to see these three successfully tackle the always beautiful song from Kalafina. I think the mixing is done really well here, and it shows how the three know where to sing and where not to.

29th - adrenaline!! by Oozora Subaru & Shigure Ui

Ui-mama professes to be a non-singer but she sang quite a lot this year, and her outputs are almost always good. There must be something to her narrow but cute singing that people surely approve of… I love how Ui realized Subaru is the sun and you cannot avoid her brightness.

Damianus comes with art and a lore bio, while Strain has just a lore bio. Both are unbred. Unsure of what to price them at exactly, but I won’t take lower than 250kt or 250g each via CR.
