HouseWitches of Long Island? 🏠🧙‍♀️ 1658 - 35 years BEFORE the Witch Trials of Salem, Ma. - Easthampton, Long Island was home to one of the first Witchcraft Trials in the American colonies. Goody Garlick, lived close to her accuser, Elizabeth Howell. After falling ill, Elizabeth claimed that Garlick was a witch who had appeared in her bedroom and made her sick. Days later, Elizabeth died. Elizabeth's death caused a raucous among the farming community of 33 families. The local justices acted on the word that Goody Garlick was responsible. Three weeks of hearings and depositions ensued. Testimony by Elizabeth's family and townspeople weakened Goody Garlick's defense. Unable to make a decision, the case was sent to trial in Hartford, Ct. on charges of witchcraft. The jury found Goody Garlick not guilty and she continued to reside in East Hampton. In 1664, George Wood, a Setauket landowner and innkeeper, sickened and died. Soon thereafter, his infant son also died. The two deaths resulted in the only other Witchcraft Trial of Long Islanders. Mary and Ralph Hall were indicted on charges of witchcraft and sorcery in connection with the death of the Woods. The Only Witchcraft Trial in New York State was held in October 1665. The jury found that the evidence raised some suspicion of Mary Hall but was not worthy of charging her. Uluwatu Temple or Pura Uluwatu or also known as Pura Luhur. Uluwatu Temple is one of Bali’s nine key directional temples (Pura Kayangan Jagat). Though a small temple was claimed to have existed beforehand, based on inscriptions the structure was either instigated or significantly expanded by a Javanese sage, Empu Kuturan in the 11th Century. He was a Majapahit monk, who took also part in establishing several other temples on Bali.

The temple is inhabited by large number of monkeys, who are extremely adept at snatching visitors’ belonging, including bags, cameras and eyeglasses. Keep a very close grip on all your belongings and stow away your eyeglasses if at all possible. If you do have something taken, the monkeys can usually be induced to exchange it for some fruit. The monkey are believed to guard the temple from bad influences.

Besides of that attraction, you can also watch Balinese traditional dance, which is Uluwatu Kecak Dance. Kecak Dance is performed by 50-100 dancers. Kecak dancers would sit in a circle position and wearing a black and white sarong. Uluwatu Kecak Dance usually performed at 06.00pm until 07.00 pm. It takes 1 hour of performance while enjoying the sunset moment.

Pura Luhur Uluwatu or Uluwatu Temple is located exactly at Pecatu Village, South Kuta district, Badung regency, Bali. You can go there by private or public vehicles.
