It was hard to decide between Kaguya-Sama and Spy x Family, but I had to give Kaguya-Sama the edge for now though its subject to change.

Same with with the Fate series because I loved UBW, Fate/Zero, and Apocrypha all for different reasons. I just think UBW is probably the strongest of them as a story

Part of me is a little embarrassed that like the vast majority of them are animated shows, but I also can't deny that most of my favorites are animated. I was desperately trying to think of some live action shows but I kept thinking of animated ones instead.

Chapter 15: Derringer Meryl & Stun Gun Milly

Chapter Summary:

Previously, Meryl found herself in the slums and ran into some thugs up to no good. After a fierce struggle, "Superman" rescues her at the last minute and Clark’s secret is busted. Instead of addressing the awkward topic, they instead focus on the Cluster story. The next day Clark reveals some of his story, and then Derringer Meryl and Stun Gun Milly make their debut.

Ugh yes I know I missed posting last week but here’s another snippet from chapter 10 which will be posted on Saturday. For real, promise.

The Ticket to Tomorrow: Chapter 10 Snippet

“You’re the type that attracts trouble like a magnet, aren’t you?” Meryl glanced over, likely to gauge his reaction. Clark flinched, and knew he had the worst poker face.

“W-what makes you say that?” Clark asked, feigning innocence.

“Hah! I knew it.” She smirked, and he just dropped his jaw and started floundering.

“No, really… What makes you say that?” he prodded.

“One, anyone who says that in response is exactly what they’re accused of. Two, reporter’s instinct. Three, I knew a guy or two who always attracted trouble, so I can recognize the type.”

“I’m glad only one of those was my fault,” he mumbled.

Meryl grinned. “Well, at least you’re in good company. The Chief threatened to send me to the insurance branch the other day for all the gray hairs I give him. Said I’d make a good Disaster Mitigation & Claims Agent.” She scoffed at the idea.

“I-Is that a good thing or a bad thing?” Clark genuinely wasn’t sure.

A good-hearted laugh came from the woman reporter. “I’d prefer to stick to journalism, but I think I’d make a pretty good insurance claims agent seeing as how I’m good at following trouble’s footsteps. Not sure about the mitigation bit.”

Clark chuckled as well. “I don’t blame you. I’d rather stick to journalism, too. Not sure how much sense of adventure you’d find doing insurance.”

“Tell me about it,” she agreed. She paused briefly before asking, “So, if you don’t mind me asking. What is it that you do—for a living?”

Clark faltered. I knew she’d ask! Why didn’t I come up with something to say earlier? Think Kent! Just say, oh yeah, I’m a reporter, too? On the side, I do a little superhero-ing? No comment? Would you believe I’m an interdimensional peacekeeper and disaster mitigation freelancer??

“Well, um, for a while, I worked on my family’s farm back in Kansas. I just recently finished some studies and am now kinda trying to figure out what I want to do in my future. I’ve been dabbling in two or three things.”

Yes!! Smooth answer, Kent! Two truths and an omission.

“I’d say you’d make a pretty good reporter. The way you were interviewing that couple. Asking all the right questions.”

“Is-Is that so?” Clark replied, voice raising in pitch. He was not having a mini internal panic attack, nope.

“There are plenty of opportunities in December. I’m sure you’ll figure it out sooner than you think,” she replied, gently tapping his arm with her fist.

Just—do yourself a favor and block it out. If you’re feeling the telepathy creeping in, just imagine me making this face,” Faraday pointed to himself making a very stern face.  “I do appreciate how concerned for my wellbeing you’ve become,” J’onn smiled slightly. “‘Concerned for your wellbeing’ nothing. My job is keeping capes and feds from getting into a fight and killing us all, and to do that, we need this press conference. We can’t have you buckling over with another one of your ‘I just remembered humanity is terrible’ psychic migraines,” Faraday paused, “But—also, obviously, you’re going to do fine. You’re great. You’ve got a nice voice.”  “Mm,” J’onn just gave a little nod, that smile still there. Faraday looked like he wanted to backpedal from that for a few seconds, before shrugging it off. “Knock ‘em dead, spaceman,” he said, tapping J’onn’s shoulder before straightening his tie and walking out into the press conference room.

Chapter 12: Werewolf of December

Chapter Summary:

Previously, Meryl and Clark finally arrived in the city of December. Clark’s powers started to return, but they were acting up for some reason. Meryl met with Milly and the Chief to discuss her next story. Later, Lord Manga Khan hijacked the No Man’s Land satellite broadcast to make his offer to the people of the planet.

Now, Lord Manga begins his resource survey, sending scouts and a special ‘resource survey escort’ down to December to investigate (ahem, steal) the Plants. As this survey group tries to take a ‘sample’ for study, Superman confronts the thieves, and chaos ensues. Superman meets his match against ‘The Main Man.’

The scene was pure chaos as people pushed and shoved and screamed.

Emergency lights began flashing, and klaxons blared, drowning out most of the shouting.

Clark superspeed through the building, weaving in between workers with limbs sprawled out as they tried to run but were frozen in time. Their expressions locked in panic and confusion with wide eyes and open mouths. The chorus of noises shifted into a deep, drawn out tone like from the leftmost key on a piano.

Further inside, a grated, raised corridor opened up into a long, spacious room. Above and below were additional floors of similar platforms. 

Rows upon rows of bulb-like pods hung from the curved walls. Each pod was filled with some kind of cloudy fluid that glowed brightly in blue yet tinged purple from the red lights. Round, white objects floated in the center of each pod.

A number of uniformed security guards armed with police-grade handguns or patrol rifles faced the center of the room. 

Various shouts of “Return the Plant!” and “Stand down or we’ll shoot!” were directed at the obvious intruders near the guards. 

Clark quickly realized this must’ve been one of the Plant facilities Meryl had mentioned. 

A remarkably tall, muscular figure leaped forward at one of the guards, knocking the man forcefully into the railing along the edge of the corridor. The guard crumpled, his weapon clattering along the floor several feet away.

Surrounding the figure stood four equally bulky humanoid-shaped robots coated in a shiny, bronze-like plating. One robot manned some kind of machinery akin to a forklift, but it hovered weightlessly in the air. 

One of the cylindrical, liquid-filled pods was attached to the machine. Inside the pod, one of those white, round masses— roughly the shape of a beetroot or flower bud—bobbed delicately, cushioned within the viscous liquid.

Right after the next guard took a shot but missed, the brutish thief ripped the rifle out of his hands. The thief then quickly took the man down with a punch to his stomach.

Without wasting more time studying the room and situation, Clark sped over to the commotion in a blur.

Chapter 10: How I Met Your Milly

Chapter Summary:

Previously, Clark and Meryl began traveling together to December, getting to know one another. Clark is still recovering from his encounter with the Grand Worm. The next day, Zazie appeared with more warnings.

Now, Clark gets a clue on Mxy’s whereabouts, learning about the LOLL’s involvement. Arriving in December, Clark’s powers begin acting up. Meryl heads to Bernardelli and meets with the Chief and her new partner.

Chapter Snippet:

Meryl raised a hand to knock on the Chief’s door, but a looming figure knocked her over instead. The figure was that of a very tall, brownish-blond-haired woman. 

A large stack of papers went flying all over the hallway. Apparently, she hadn’t seen the uncommonly short woman.

The tall woman wore a simple, loose-fitting white button-up blouse with a red tie and brown trousers. Not only was she at least six feelz tall, but she was also rather broad in the chest and shoulders—her loose clothes didn’t help to slim her. 

Except for that, she was quite doll-faced, with crystal blue eyes and the friendliest of smiles. Her long hair framed her face charmingly and curled up at the ends. Her locks bounced cutely when she tilted her head.

The tall woman yelped and bent down, flustered about whether to start picking up the papers or help Meryl up. 

When the two caught each other's eyes, the woman lit up, eyes sparkling and mouth in a wide open smile.

“Oh my gosh! You’re Miss Meryl Stryfe, aren’t you? I’m terribly sorry for bumping into you, silly me!”

The taller woman grabbed Meryl with both hands and pulled the shorter woman back to her feet as if she weighed nothing. 

“I just can’t believe I ran into you! I hoped to meet you yesterday, but the Chief said you caught trouble on the road and would be a day late. I do hope you are alright, ma’am! The roads are a very dangerous place to be all on your own.” She shook a pointer finger at Meryl like a mother would a child. 

Meryl straightened her clothes and brushed them off. “Um, yes, I’m just fine. Uh, have we met before?”

The sound and recoil of Lois shooting the blaster pistol at Lobo startled Vash. But for all he feared people intentionally or accidentally killing another, he trusted the woman with the weapon. Subconsciously, he was also grateful because it was slowing Lobo down, even if it was only a minuscule amount.

This tiny woman sure didn’t hesitate when it mattered, huh?

“The frag? Chicky, do I look like a Kryptonian to you?” Lobo yelled after taking another few energy bursts to the chest and face. “That kryptonite blaster ain’t gonna do squat to the Main Man!”

Vash heard Lois shout back, “Like hell your ugly mug looks like a Kryptonian’s! Kryptonians are way more handsome than you!”

Oh crap, this woman is gonna get us all killed, Vash thought. Please, please don’t say anything else to antagonize him!

Just posted the prologue and chapter 1 for a new crossover fanfic between My Adventures with Superman and Trigun Stampede. Hopefully there’s some fans of both series out there who can enjoy my crazy plot ideas. Happy reading!
