So I’m painting a cello for an art project cuz my local high school wants me to for some reason. (It’s a busted ahh cello dw)

Should I add geraniums and subtle Trigun references to it? (This is the same high school that let kids bully me and my friends so I really want to do a subtle spit in their face)

so we have this sculpting class this year and basically our only assignment is to create a sculpture of an already established fictional character

PROBLEM IS THERE ARE TOO MANY CHARACTERS I WANNA SCULPT SO.....

this isn't the final decision since my professor still needs to approve the character but it might influence my final choice so propaganda is absolutely welcomed :DD

Noman’s Beast of Burden  [IMAGE ID: A hand-made sculpture of a Thomas / Toma from the anime series, Trigun. It is a brown bird-like creature - somewhat resembling a kiwi with a dinosaur-type spiked tail, a saddle and saddle-blanket complete with stirrups, a bone-like mask over its head done in abstract eye-designs and reigns. / END IMAGE ID]  A sculpture I did with Sculpey and various items many, many years ago. ‘98 anime style.  It is actually the second sculpture I did one of one these creatures. It is... I don’t know... about 3 inches tall at the whithers, not huge, but not a miniature, either. The sculpture contains cloth - I actually think I used medical gauze that I’d dyed black for the padding on the saddle.  The saddle blanket is cut from a destroyed old aqua-blue pair of shorts I’d had that I brushed some blue and purple ink on for extra color.  There’s some broken mussel shell in there, little wire bits and leather lace, also some beadwork on the saddle. Yeah, I went all out for this thing.  It sits on my bookshelf.

Noman’s Beast of Burden 

Sculpture of a Toma / Thomas done in the mid-2000s.  Old anime-design. Sculpey clay, various fabrics, freshwater mussel shell, beads, wire-bits, and leather lacing.  I have mixed-feelings on the new design of the critters in Trigun Stampede.  On one hand, I’m underwhelmed because they look just like standard riding-birds you see in all kinds of anime and video games / pretty much like big blue emus while the OG toma were these weird spike-tailed horse-bird monstrosities with bigger head-shields, but... the new guys can get away with a lot by being super-cute.  So, you win some, you lose some.  I miss the weird-ass mixed-up monster things, but kind of let out a happy squeal at seeing the baby chicks that Wolfwood and Livio were feeding in the new series.

Trans Trigun Week Day 4-non op/post op

This is actually a re-draw of a piece I did a couple months ago. The concept here is based on the Venus of Arles. I was tired of all the art I’ve seen where they slap top surgery scars on classic sculptures. Why not let a trans man still have his boobs??

Venus of Arles by Praxiteles

Here she holds an apple and a mirror. I gave Wolfwood a broken vial of his healing solution and of course the strap of the punisher! (Also his nipples are pierced because my partner and I made a joke one time and now it’s cannon to me.)

In the first draft I think the proportions look weird. You can see clearly how much better my grasp has gotten on anatomy. I’m happy I’ve been participating in art challenge/event weeks like this one!!

This concept is strong and I’m glad I re-visited it. (I may render this digitally some day.) My favorite thing about comparing the two though is that you can see how I’ve progressed in drawing Wolfwood. He’s gone from mildly accurate to '98 to looking like Vash‘s stoner girlfriend. And frankly I love that. He looks more distinct.
