Cancelled because: the poor box office numbers of the first

Cancelled because the first had low box office? AND WHO'S FAULT WAS THAT, DISNEY! You don't get to purposely destroy a movie and then blame the thing YOU DESTROYED as to why there can't be a sequel that is already NINE MONTHS into production!

My Peoples (Once in a Blue Moon / A Few Good Ghosts)

Cancelled because: Disney head of animation David Stainton felt that Chicken Little, which was also being worked on at the time, would be more marketable and reach more of a general audience. [The Florida studio was closed in January 2004 as well.]

They cancelled this movie for CHICKEN LITTLE! Look, I don't care if you do or don't like Chicken Little, but we all know it wasn't exactly Disney's biggest success. Michael Eisner and David Stainton were even very happy with story reels for My Peoples and praised it shortly before announcing the cancellation! This movie was going to be traditionally animated, it was going to have a unique setting and style of music, and there was already a proof of concept trailer and a storyboard animatic of the opening song ready. They had even already gotten Dolly Parton on board as a voice actor! Dolly Parton! Barry Cook took a research trip to the Appalacian mountains and based the idea of folk art dolls being possessed by spirits on ghost stories he had heard there! So much work went into this movie and it had such an interesting concept and every day I wish I could watch it but instead we got Chicken. Little.

aaaaanyway… this is from an old PC game called Battle At Procyon. for those of you that don’t know, it’s one of those CD rom games back in the day that had some real crappy game art of an older jim (i believe it was set 5 years after the end of the movie) where he’s about 20~ish years old. i couldn’t get over how sassy he looked in all the pictures. feel free to go look the rest of them up, but yeah they are pretty bad lmfao

What do you think Long Jon Sliver's past was in your Disneyverse?

So! I sat on this for a while, but I finally have some ideas thanks to coming across some more concept art of Treasure Planet 2 as well as an interview about the plot that had some more details about Silver's background in it.

So when I first saw the sketches of Kate Blake, the girl from the canceled Treasure Planet sequal I thought she was Silver's estranged daughter or something, as she had similar features. Of course further digging revealed she was the daughter of Admiral Blake. But I decided I could still tie Silver in to her backstory somewhat after coming across this concept art that shows a young Silver heading off into the Aetherium...

I decided that in my backstory for him, he was in love with an upperclass girl and she him, but he deciedhe needed to go off and make something of himself to be worthy of her, even though she just wanted him to stay

She waited for him, but he never did come back, and she ended up marrying Kate's father and having her with him.

So Silver seeing Kate with Jim later would see the daughter he could have had.

Silver traveled about as a merchant mariner for a whkle, but ended up getting in pirating eventually as it. seemed a faster way to raise his fortunes. But he got in too deep when he took up with Captain Ironbeard (the villain of the canceled sequal, who it would have been revealed was responsible for some of Silver's lost limbs).

Eventually of course he got a crew of his own and determined to go after the legendary treasure of Captain Flint, the one prize he felt could make all his losses worth it.

And of course we all know how that panned out.

Apparently in the sequal Jim and Kate were going to find Silver running a fish shop on a backwater planet somewhere--which was really the front for his smuggling operation.

As the Long John Silver of the book had a wife who helped run his inn on land, I thought in my DisneyVerse I'd give him a business partner in his smuggling operation who would keep him on track, balance out his impetuousness, and eventually become a new love interest for him, since he lost his chance with Kate's mother.

Treasure Planet Shorts: New Look

Jim stared at himself in the mirror that morning in the barrack's bathrooms. Behind him, other cadets came and went, undergoing their morning routines before heading to mess or to their early morning drills. He was lucky in that, with it being his final semester before graduation, the majority of his courses were now live practices in the field and scheduled for the afternoon vs the early hour laps around the base he'd had to do as a first year. Jim couldn't believe how fast time had flown since his rocky misadventure to kickoff his time at the Academy. In a couple of weeks, he'd be an official ensign of Her Majesty's Royal Navy, with his first real mission in space—that is if he survived the graduation exercises. As Jim ran the shaving cream over his jaw, his heart leapt up at the multitude of questions he'd been turning over ever since learning that the fourth year company's positions for the graduation exercises would be announced within the week. If his hard work had paid off, he'd have a real shot at stepping into the role of first officer during the exercises. And if someone was lucky enough to be chosen to oversee a ship their first run out of port, it was safe to say their promotion to captain was soon to follow. Kate had been agonizing about it all week, and Jim couldn't blame her. After they'd put aside their differences, Jim was convinced the only reason he'd managed through some of his classes was due to Kate's late night help in the library. Meanwhile, it had been a real privilege to see her improve in their pilot training courses. Thinking about Kate made Jim realize he was going to be late meeting her for breakfast if he didn't hurry up and commit to his task. However, as he ran the blade down his face, clearing away the beard he'd been attempting to grow before deciding against it, a new thought struck him. With a little water, Jim rinsed off the area just below his chin to now reveal a clean jaw with a small patch of hair that ran the length of his chin just below his lip. Testing out a smile, his face broke into an even brighter grin as he admired the new look. If he continued to trim it properly, he'd have a filled out goatee in a couple of weeks. Shrugging, Jim rinsed his blade and continued to the other side of his face, ignoring the area beneath his mouth. ******* Kate had been reading a newspaper she'd nicked from the library that morning over her coffee. Every so often, she enjoyed getting caught up with the galaxy's politics. If they were going to be serving in Her Majesty's Navy, they might as well be aware of current events alongside their orders. She had just turned the page when someone suddenly invaded her space, giving her a quick kiss on the cheek as they bent over her from behind.

"Hey, Kate," Jim greeted as Kate twisted.

"Morning J—" She stopped as Jim took a seat beside her, hair, as usual, a windswept mess, but that wasn't what had Kate's attention. "What is on your face?" she demanded, zeroing in on the small patch of hair he'd so lovingly left behind from his obvious morning shave. "I'm trying something out," Jim laughed under his breath, awkwardly scratching his cheek now. "Does it look that bad?" "Something tells me my opinion won't change how you do things in the slightest," Kate shook her head. "You're probably right," Jim chuckled before snatching Morph who slid out of his pocket. "Hang on, Buddy, I'll grab us some breakfast."

And the two stood up, Jim approaching the line for his own meal with Morph in tow. Kate watched him for a moment longer. Truthfully, she thought clean-shaven Jim did wonders for his jawline which had strengthened and leaned out over the course of their past few years, but a blasted goatee....?

She wasn't about to mock him, but a little healthy teasing? Maybe she'd have an opportunity to shave it off in his sleep one of these nights. "Good morning," came yet another voice as Kate turned to see Onyx now appearing before their table.

"Morning, Onyx," Kate said offhandedly before narrowing her eyes back in Jim's general direction. She wanted to love it, she really did, but she couldn't help the slight cringe she felt each time she took a look at his face now.

"May I ask what you are looking at?" Onyx quirked a rocky eyebrow, following Kate's gaze before doing a double take himself when he saw Jim.

"Hair," was all Kate said as she turned back to her newspaper.

Treasure Planet II: Summary of the sequel we never had

Yo simplemente lo condense todo para leerlo de corrido. ¿Motivos? pues 1) Después de leer el hilo de Reddit de la directora decidí que oficialmente ya había mucha información dispersa de esta secuela cancelada (a estas alturas solo falta que se filtre un guion XD) y mi lado fanático del orden decidió acumularla toda en un solo lugar. O sea, esta publicación XD

2) Estoy obsesionada con el universo de Treasure Planet.

Aclarado esto, si tienen alguna duda no me pregunten nada porque no tengo idea XD. Yo solo copie y pega información que puedes encontrar en los links de arriba:

Entonces vayamos con el resumen:

La secuela iba a continuar 3 años después donde la primera película se quedó, con Jim Hawkins (ahora de 18 años) entrando a la Real Academia Interestelar. ¿Cómo lo hizo?  Jim entró a la academia porque tenía talento; además de (¿tal vez?) un ligero nepotismo 🤣 ya que Amelia acababa de ser nombrada decana de la academia. Se suponía que la Academia iba a ser una especie de universidad combinada, pero orientada al servicio naval. En la Academia, Jim es un talento natural, pero no sigue muy bien las reglas. Por lo tanto, tiene un comienzo inestable, especialmente con su compañera de clase Katherine "Kate" Blake…

Jim y Kate se conocieron en la escuela cuando él arruinó accidentalmente su uniforme (aparentemente estaba presumiendo delante de otros estudiantes haciendo surf solar por el campus y cuando le dijeron que parara, se detuvo bruscamente frente a Kate arrojándole barro por todo el cuerpo) lo que inicia una cadena de desagrado mutuo.

Kate es imaginada como la académica perfecta y el opuesto de Jim: muy inteligente y con una personalidad tipo A, absolutamente intelectual, recatada, correcta, inteligente en los libros, pero carente de experiencia en la "vida real".

El padre de Kate es el almirante Blake, el comandante de la Armada (un pez gordo en la Marina). Los Blake eran como leones, ya que provenían de una familia de clase alta. Él la crió para que fuera como él: una persona que seguía las reglas, honesta y directa. Kate desea que su padre este orgulloso de ella.

Se suponía que el padre de Kate era un "hombre león" por lo que Kate era una chica mitad león (según la directora querían que Kate pareciera un poco alienígena pero no completamente humana como Jim).

Jim y Kate compiten por ser los mejores de la clase, pero tienen habilidades muy diferentes...

Jim tiene dificultades con las tareas de clase mientras que ella las aprueba de maravilla. Pero cuando se trata de clases de vuelo reales, Jim es ahora el que sobresale y descubre que Kate no puede con ellas y se marea (de lo que se aprovecha).

Este disgusto mutuo eventualmente llevaría a que los dos se metieran en una gran pelea y estrellaran uno de los pequeños botes de entrenamiento de la Academia porque no estaban trabajando juntos, arruinando un ejercicio de entrenamiento de manera muy grave. Lo que hace que ambos se ganen el castigo de limpiar la cubierta del Centurión, y se odien mutuamente y cada uno culpe al otro por el castigo...

El Centurión es la nave más rápida de la galaxia (Diseñado por el Doctor Doppler) y BEN es su piloto.

Jim se siente como un pez fuera del agua en la Academia (más o menos) rodeado de estos chicos ricos, elegantes y entrenados, y casi quiere dejarlo. Pero luego las cosas cambian debido al villano…

El pirata Ironbeard desea apoderarse del Centurión. Este despiadado villano es relativamente todo de hierro: no queda casi nada de lo que era originalmente, ni por dentro ni por fuera. Lidera un grupo de piratas para secuestrar el Centurión mientras Jim y Kate están a bordo (quienes ante la situación forman una tregua temporal por necesidad). La Marina no puede atrapar al Centurión debido a la velocidad y el blindaje de la nave.

Jim y Kate escapan del Centurión pero debido a que ambos solo estaban en un surfista solar (que no era un gran dispositivo para viajes espaciales prolongados) no tuvieron más opción que aterrizar en la Laguna Nebulosa, que es un pueblo pirata, debido a que era el sistema más cercano.

Jim decide que necesita un pirata que les ayude a atrapar piratas por lo que tan pronto como se da cuenta de dónde está, comienza a preguntar por si acaso y resulta que todos conocen a Silver porque tiene una "choza de pescado" allí que, por supuesto, es solo una fachada para su negocio real…

Kate está muy incómoda en aquel mundo pirata por lo que tiene que aprender a adaptarse a ese mundo y a esa situación en la que Jim se siente más a gusto y ella se siente como la forastera.

Encuentran a su viejo amigo Long John Silver en la Laguna Nebulosa, donde dirige una red de contrabando. Silver acepta ayudar cuando se entera de lo del Centurión…

La directora quería que Silver siguiera siendo un personaje moralmente nebuloso, así que lo presentaron como un contrabandista de armas con su propio pequeño barco. Estaba emocionado cuando Jim acude a él en busca de ayuda con Ironbeard y en el fondo espera que Jim se quede con él, como hijo/protegido y no regrese a la academia, pero Kate también estaba involucrada y se estaba convirtiendo en una buena influencia para Jim.

Kate se mostraría extremadamente escéptica con Silver a pesar de que él intenta ser encantador. Y a Silver no le agradaría Kate por lo que ella representa (la ley y el orden) y por el hecho de que está tratando de alejar a Jim de él, pero al final se ablanda con ella. En parte se debe a que siente mucha culpa por una chica a la que hizo daño en el pasado y, en última instancia, le dice a Jim que no haga lo mismo. Kate solo comienza a admirar a Silver después de que demuestra su lealtad a Jim.

…Jim y Kate reciben una señal de seguimiento de BEN que actualmente se encuentra como rehén a bordo del Centurión. Ironbeard dejó a BEN con vida para que pudiera ser un sirviente y entretenimiento para la tripulación (Según la directora habían planeado una escena en la que los piratas lo maltrataban y lo obligaban a hacer 40 cosas diferentes a la vez). El grupo sigue la señal a través de la nave chirriante de Silver y descubren que el Centurión está atracado cerca del asteroide prisión de Botany Bay…

Se suponía que iba a ser un montón de asteroides encadenados con torretas de armas en el perímetro exterior para evitar que se escaparan. La directora quería que pareciera bastante sombrío.

Ironbeard está usando el Centurión para desactivar los sistemas de seguridad de Botany Bay. Jim, Kate y Silver se suben a bordo del Centurión, donde Silver le revela a Jim que quiere quedarse con el Centurión. Le pide a Jim que se una a él.

Kate escucha esto y se horroriza, especialmente porque (también debido al vínculo que se generó a través de su situación bastante intensa) durante toda la aventura Jim y Kate finalmente habían comenzado a conocerse, dándose cuenta de que el otro no era tan malo como pensaban, comenzado a entenderse y agradarse más y enseñándose mutuamente habilidades de las que el otro carece, hasta finalmente comenzar a sentirse atraídos el uno por el otro.

Kate está enfadada con Jim y se marcha furiosa. Jim está a punto de dejarla de lado también cuando Silver le dice que le dé una oportunidad. Él revela una parte de su pasado a través de un flashback, cuando un joven (no cyborg) Silver arruinó una relación con el amor de su vida (una mujer llamada Molly), una decisión que lo llevó directamente a una vida de piratería.

Ironbeard descubre a los intrusos y se lanza a una pelea en la que Silver resulta herido (la directora dice que planearon un momento final dramático en el que tiene que desprenderse de su brazo cyborg para evitar que Ironbeard aborde su nave).…

Se suponía que el villano de Dafoe era muy malvado. Ya nada en él era "humano", literalmente, excepto tal vez su cerebro y sus órganos,

Ironbeard era principalmente "malvado” y se planeaba que tuviera una gran historia con Silver. Básicamente fue el primer "jefe pirata" de Silver cuando Silver era más joven. Se pelearon por un botín (injusticia, Ironbeard se quedó con la mayor parte como jefe, o algo así) y Ironbeard le cortó el brazo a Silver como castigo para ponerlo en su lugar, lo que resultó en su brazo cyborg (aunque no se habla de sus otras partes). Ironbeard era el tipo de persona que tomaba grandes riesgos y era un poco sociópata, pero como las recompensas bajo su mando eran buenas, siempre conseguía que la gente lo siguiera. Debido a que robaba a personas de alto perfil, siempre hacía que volaran partes de sí mismo y las reemplazaran hasta que básicamente se convirtió en un cyborg.

…Mientras tanto, los otros piratas arrojan escaleras hacia la prisión de abajo, lo que permite que enjambres de prisioneros eufóricos suban a la nave. Silver, Jim y Kate salen del Centurión en medio de toda la confusión. Sin embargo, Ironbeard derriba la nave de Silver. Caen en picado hacia el asteroide prisión de abajo, donde se estrellan.

Silver lleva consigo un cargamento muy peligroso que había estado intentando contrabandear y vender por una fortuna, que tiene el poder de una bomba de neutrones. Jim, Kate y Silver se reconcilian y trabajan juntos para arreglar la nave de Silver y evitar que el Centurión, lleno de los piratas más malvados de la galaxia, se embarque en una locura de robos y asesinatos. En el último segundo, Silver renuncia a regañadientes a su "fondo de jubilación" para destruir el Centurión, con Ironbeard y todos los piratas a bordo.  Hubo un momento final en el que Ironbeard se aferraba a Silver y él soltó su brazo cyborg para enviarlo a volar al espacio junto con Ironbeard.

Silver se separa nuevamente de Jim y Kate y les dice que se cuiden el uno al otro. En el epílogo, han pasado algunos años y Jim y Kate ahora están en una relación. Ambos se graduaron con honores, mientras un orgulloso Silver los observa en secreto desde las sombras, sonriendo.

Morph se incluyó, sí, pero como en TP1, principalmente por ternura y alivio cómico.

Según la directora, quería ver la siguiente evolución en la madurez de Jim. Hacerlo un poco menos reservado y dolido y un poco más abierto de corazón desde sus experiencias con Silver.

Según la directora, En TP Jim estaba sufriendo porque se sentía abandonado por su padre, luego consigue un padre "sustituto" que desafortunadamente lo abandona nuevamente, aunque al menos esta vez con la comprensión de Jim de la situación. En la secuela, Jim regresaría con Silver y esa sería una reunión feliz, pero también se daría cuenta de que está dejando atrás las cosas que Silver posiblemente puede enseñarle y, de hecho, se está volviendo más maduro en algunos aspectos que Silver. Entonces, aunque se preocupan el uno por el otro, es Jim quien toma la decisión de irse esta vez y regresar a la academia.

El mensaje se basaría en temas de no aferrarse a las personas/pensamientos/emociones que te están frenando, incluso si es difícil dejarlos ir.

Y hasta aqui llegamos (o por lo menos hasta que surja más información que desconozcamos porque tengo entendido que ademas de esta secuela tambien cancelaron un serie de Treasure Planet) The End (¿?)
