Trying to think of an actual linear plot for my works and all I’ve got it’s “I’m gonna traumatise these characters so bad” and not a single other viable plan, I am not a great author and these characters are my babies and I’ve spent hours creating them and figuring out their little quirks but if there’s anything I’m good at as a writer it is absolutely destroying my characters mentally, physically and spiritually, it’s a cannon event and I cannot interfere.

I think the reason people believe chuuya would be the more open and affectionate in soukoku (as like. A romantic relationship) is because they believe him to be the mentally stable one and i think the reason people seem to believe he’s one of the few “mentally stable” characters in bsd is because he does not let himself be seen as vulnerable, and the few times we do see him go through something genuinely horrible and having a moment of vulnerability he does not really have the time to truly process it and ends up “moving on” pretty quickly (for example when he was at the flags’ funeral and adam interrupted him, or how when the sheep betrayed him dazai was immediately at his side trying to convince him to join the pm). And even if he does process it and thinks “man that was pretty fucked up wasnt it” it is never shown on screen so i feel like a lot of viewers end up seeing it as him not being bothered by these events and just a pretty chill dude that doesnt wallow in grief or self pity. But i think him never wallowing in grief or self pity is kind of a problem because in the end all he is doing is suppressing all that trauma and not really trying to acknowledge it, but at the same time when he does he ends up pinning the blame on himself (how the sheeps betrayal was his fault, the flags dying because of him). I feel like this impacts how affectionate he is too because he has built up so many walls that at the point when the flags make a party to celebrate the one year anniversary of him joining the pm he gets suspicious, then surprised and then flustered and tries acting like he doesnt care about it. All this is to say that i think him believing he cant show weakness and has to maintain the facade of being “the strongest” makes him seem like some regular degular guy (if he’s not fighting dragons) ends up him getting viewed as some mentally stable, communicative guy with maaaybe just a bit of anger issues when in reality he got so embarrassed by dazai’s corny speech in mersault that he shot him in the head with a gun

replaying the order 66 sequence in jfo always leaves me broken, but today i got a new set of heart wrenching questions when i thought about the first few days or weeks after cal crash landed on bracca; damn, it would be awful as an adult, but a child??

he literally landed there in an escape pod with his master's dead body: did he even manage to burry master tapal? he had to immediately ditch his jedi robes. considering the scars on his face, most probably he didn't tend to the blaster wounds he got when the clones attacked. how many days was he alone on the streets, maybe stealing food, before someone - probably prauf - found him? what made up story did he come up with when people asked about his past? did he always have the lightsaber with him, how scared was he that someone was gonna find it?

Similarities between Lloyd and his uncle are so cool and heartbreaking.

I mean they both share blonde hair but theres also a lot of narrative parallels, for example, when Wu was 9 he broke a serpentine treaty and nearly caused a war. When Lloyd was 9 he opened the serpentine tombs.

Wu and Lloyd also get betrayed. Think Harumi and Aspheera as a consequence to their actions with the serpentine.

They both suffer from high expectations. Wu with his father and living up to his expectations of being better because he blames himself for his brother’s venom and Lloyd facing high expectations as the green ninja. Both face them at a very young age!

Both of them fight Garmadon. I’m thinking of the battle between brothers and the prophesied final battle.

And now… Lloyd seems to be paving the way to parallel his uncle with their first students by placing high expectations on them and making them resent them. (If it wasn’t clear i’m talking Morro and Arin)

And they both do this because of generational trauma and expectations. Dragons/oni war -> FSM -> Wu and Garmadon -> Lloyd (and Morro) -> Arin
