playing SWTOR 10 years before touching either KOTOR game is the funniest experience in the entire world. just a progressively sillier parade of references you finally catch. like in the vanilla smuggler storyline you need to deliver this Darth's mummified head to this family of nobles on Alderaan and they give you this pompous history lesson about how this is the Sith who murdered their ancestor Trask Ulgo and therefore his remains are a treasured historical artifact to them, and you're sitting there being 13 going like yeah yeah uh-huh sure

and then at 24 you're playing it again and something clicks in your brain and you sit up straight like SO YOU'RE THE BITCH WHO MURDERED MY TUTORIAL NPC 300 YEARS AGO!! IT WAS YOU!!!

Yeah. With me a lot of it is "It's the child conscription and slave soldiers, stupid!"

I can deal with Luke's NJO and the pre-Exar Kun setup in Legends because it wasn't some state backed armed recruiter banging on the door of some peasants and demanding their toddler to shape them into an enforcer for the State, and they will never see or hear from them again.

And so what if it was considered some "great honor?" In half the Districts of Panem, it was also considered some great honor to have your kid be a Tribute. Doesn't necessarily make this a good thing! Hell, in ancient Mesopotamia, Aztec, and Inca societies, it was the highest honor to have your kid chosen to be a human sacrifice. The Ottoman Janissaries had the finest education and living conditions and it was a high honor, at least in some cases.

I can accept Nomi Sunrider because it was her choice as an adult to pick up a saber to carry on for her late husband. It was Juhani's choice to go to Dantooine and follow in the footsteps of the people who got her out of slavery. Luke made a deliberate choice to follow his dad's path, though I think Obi-Wan and Yoda were manipulating him big time.

Likewise, I give a lot of respect to Havoc Squad, Jace Malcolm, Carth Onasi, Trask Ulgo and the like because they made the choice to be citizen-soldiers unlike men bred to kill for a State that didn't even grant them the right of citizens.

Again, in what other universe are we supposed to view this setup as unalloyed Good?

And okay...you have Palpatine running both sides, so kind of a wash. The PT did a poor job at depicting why we should root for the Allegedly Good faction. Instead of Good and Evil like Lucas intended, it was "Barrel of shit or barrel of toxic waste?" You'll probably survive the barrel of shit over the toxic waste, but neither option is great.

Isn't it funny that people will complain about how the Jedi "supports the Galactic Republic and ruined planets" or whatever, but they don't say a single word about the Sith and all their atrocities...hmm...

Trask Ulgo Without Tutorials Mod

This KotOR 1 mod removes the tutorial elements from the game. For the Endar Spire, the removed in-game tutorial elements include:

Trask and Carth's tutorial dialogues on the Endar Spire

The Security skill requirement to open the second door on the Endar Spire

The requirement to equip a melee weapon to enter the bridge

The levelling up requirement to exit the bridge

The tutorials in the computer and droid repair screens

In addition, this also removes the workbench tutorials on Taris, and the galaxy map tutorial on the Ebon Hawk.

This mod is inspired by the Tutorial Remover mod for KotOR. However, the key difference is my mod keeps Trask as your party member in the first area of the Endar Spire. My mod is made for players who do not wish to go through the tutorials again when replaying KotOR, but still want Trask a party member to help them to fight through the first area of the Endar Spire.
