12. Do you prefer DA:O, DA2, or DA:I most?

Okay this one is impossible, dao and dai are so close for me and they're both amazing in different ways aaaaah. I think I might have to go with dai just for how happy and comfy I am walking in that world, and how much I fell in love with my Lavellan, but it's a tough choice

35. Who do you want to see return in the next game?

Felassan!! And Maevaris! I'd also love to see Vaea, Dorian and Zevran. Also it would be weird to not have the Inquisitor appear at all when dealing with Solas, so hopefully they'll be there

2. What relationship did your Tav have with their family/guardian(s) growing up? Has that changed with age?

Growing up in a (frankly understaffed) orphanage, he never bonded much with the adults around him, and what little familiar bonds he formed was with the other children. Unfortunately they all scattered to the four winds as they became too old and had to move out, and he only keeps some surface level contact with a few of the kids he grew up with. The only true constant familiar bond he's maintained through his life is his first mentor, Nana. She's the closest he ever got to a stable parental figure, and she wasn't all that stable nor maternal so you know. But she taught him what she knew, cared for him the best she could, and he in return has looked out for her ever since. They don't see each other that often anymore, but he checks in on her a few times a month to see how she's doing, especially as she's getting older and struggling to take proper care of herself.

8. Did your Tav have any romantic and/or sexual relationships prior to their illithid adventure? If yes, who was it with and what was it like? If no, how did they feel about being single?

Most of his relationships have been mostly physical, having had many a casual sexual relationship in the past. Dysphoria be damned, he likes to have a good time, and it's rarely a big problem when his partner is respectful of his boundaries. He thought he had found the love of his life, once when he was quite young, but it ended so messily and affected him so badly he just decided to keep things strictly physical so to speak. Whenever someone gets a little too close he freaks out and breaks up their little agreement, and in a worst case senario he just ghosts them entirely, thought that is a rare occurrence as he tries to keep things friendly at least. You kinda have to when you want to keep hanging out in the same social circles (he might have learned that the hard way when he was younger lmao).

21. How does your Tav feel about love?

He's a bit of a hopeless romantic at heart, to be honest, constantly having to catch himself catching feelings and getting just a little too into someone a little too fast. But as mentioned before he deliberately keeps people at an arms length, thinking it for the best from past experiences. Love is something he's had too little of in his life, and something he so desperately yearns for in between all his fears of it. Not just romantic love, but familiar and platonic love too. In truth he doesn't really know if true, unconditional love exists, or if it's all fairy tales and he was a fool for falling for it once. But when he's finally in a place where he feels genuinely loved, and feels safe to love in return, he's just an absolute sap about it. He tells people he loves them all the time, and it's just as scary and joyful every time. I also think it helps to have people like Gale and Karlach in his life, who are so unabashedly loud and sincere in their love for others that it makes it seem less scary.

D&D Journal #2

This is my Caleb inspired spread. Caleb is the Transmutation Wizard played by the incredible Liam O’Brien on Critical Role. This spread has mostly information about my wolrdbuilding from that week in it, since not much else happened. But as you can see, I had quite a lot of sessions ahead of me. This was back in September and out of the 30 days of that month I played 15 times. Not a bad ratio xD

The quote in the upper left corner on the second page speaks to my soul. I hate people, I hate socializing, I hate crowds, I hate smalltalk. Funny enough, D&D helped me a lot with my social skills. I no wlook at people, when I talk to them from time to time. Something I was never really able to do without having a heart attack.

24. Did you DNF anything? Why?

Nope! I do have books that I'm taking forever to read (like Dracula, I can never make it past september in dracula daily rip), but none that I have given up on entirely.

25. What reading goals do you have for next year?

I'd love to finish reading The Wheel of Time, it would be so nice to finally know the ending after all these years. Other than that, no specific goal other than maybe reading more of the books I've bought but have stood untouched on my shelf xD

A small side tangent here, but I kinda want to keep the name Tav as a shorthand for some kind of alias that Jay uses and have been using since he was quite young, possibly before he even settled on the name Jay for himself. Problem is, I haven't found anything I like yet so uuh for now he's just Jay 🙈

NICKNAME: Tav, Spud (Nana calls him this, even as an adult)

GENDER: Trans man

STAR SIGN: Gemini I think, at least in our world. The calendars don't translate 1:1, and FR don't seem to have zodiac signs so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

HEIGHT: 102 cm / 3' 4"

ORIENTATION: Gay

NATIONALITY/ETHNICITY: Forest Gnome, born and raised in Baldur's Gate. He doesn't really know any of his family history, as he was orphaned as an infant and grew up in an orphanage.

FAVORITE FRUIT: Pears

FAVORITE SEASON: Spring. He loves watching the world come back to life after the dormancy of winter.

FAVORITE FLOWER: Harebells (aka Scottish Bluebells).

FAVORITE SCENT: Outside after rain, new leather, fresh parchment, lavender

COFFEE, TEA, OR HOT CHOCOLATE: He has a real sweet tooth so I image he'd love hot chocolate, maybe with a dash of coffee to spice it up a little.

AVERAGE HOURS OF SLEEP: Ideally 8-9 hours on a good day, but most of the time he only gets about 5 or 6. He gets home too late and has to get up again too early for anything more.

RANDOM FACT: While a mediocre cook overall, Jay makes a killer fish stew/soup. It's a favorite of his that he's been tweaking and perfecting over the years, and might be one of the few dishes he makes better than Gale.

Some might not think so, but I feel blessed having both a father and a step-father. I only recently reconnected with my father and step-mother (sorry, I'll respond to the emails soon!) While I have complex feelings about those relationships, I can't deny them or the legacy of my Y chromosome. I am learning more about myself because of them. Instead of sharing them though, I'm going to share the wonders one made and the other nourished. From geckos in buckets to pickups from school, thank you for being better than your own fathers.
