I have read some of your reddie now and I have this idea in my head. Ritchie and Eddie are like 13 and Ritchie tells Eddie he's in love with him but Eddie doesn't feel the same way. When Eddie tells Ritchie he doesn't feel the same way Ritchie leaves imideatly bc he feels embarrassed. The rest of the losers know Ritchie felt that way about Eddie and that ritche was gonna confess and are waiting for ritchoe to come tell them what happend. When he does come he's heart broken
(2) And the rest of the losers decide to comfort him but in the meantime forget that Eddie is super worried about ritchie. Eddie tries to text bill (or any) and he just gets like short awnseres back and the rest of the losers are too busy with Ritchie (not his fault) to think about the fact that Eddie is hurting and has basically been abandoned by his friends, but he is on the track team and has some friends there. | (3). Cue like 2/3 years later and Eddie and the rest of the losers club run into each other at a pary. They feel super bad about handling the Ritchie/eddie thing and Ritchie has missed his bff for so long, Eddie get why Ritchie didn’t wanna talk but feel betrayed by the rest of them for not caring about him and making him feel like he is expendable. Idk man id love to chat with you about reddie and hc and stuff
Anon, I love this. I kind of feel like in the case of a serious fight/falling out, the Losers wouldn’t be like everyone vs one, you know? They’d probably split down the middle, more or less. Like, maybe all the Losers knew that Richie liked Eddie but he only ever told Stan and Bev, you know? So only they know that Richie is going to tell Eddie, only they can figure out what’s wrong with Richie, why he doesn’t show up. Because Eddie feels so bad- he hadn’t meant to hurt Richie, he’s just not gay, you know? He’s not, his mother would never allow that- so he’s not going to tell anybody what happened.
Stan and Bev slowly start spending their time with Richie, because you know… as much as Richie likes Eddie- and not just likes him likes him, he really adores Eddie just as Eddie! His cute little buddy!- but it hurts too bad to be around him right then. And Bill sort of thinks they’re being dicks, because nobody is talking about what happened- Stan, Richie and Bev are just starting to bail on group activities, and they’re not sitting with them in the cafeteria anymore. The other Losers only know it has something to do with Eddie because is so upset.
Eddie sort of decides- you know, that it’s not fair that Richie felt like he had to leave their friend group. Because Eddie’s the one who feels like the one who was a dick. Especially when he starts noticing how his heart skips when he catches Richie’s eye in the hallways now- not just in an anxious way, no. In a much scarier way. In a I gave Richie the wrong answer way. So Eddie decides, yeah, if I leave the Losers Club then everybody else can hang out together again like it should be. So Eddie starts hanging out with the Track and Field team more.
And Bill just hates this… he asks Mike- who does sports, too. A lot of sports, that he only started doing because Stan encouraged him to try out for baseball, but that’s none of my business- asks Mike to please, please check on Eddie. Bring him back. So Mike does, but maybe… maybe Mike really likes hanging out with the other sports kids. He’d never felt popular before. Yeah, the Losers had been the first people who ever made him feel like he even belonged in Derry. But before nobody had been high-fiving him in the hallways and shouting “Hanlon’s the man!”
So then Eddie and Mike are both spending their with the Jocks and Cheerleaders. In the caf, outside of school, at parties. Ben is still optimistic, you know? “Everything will sort itself out, Eddie and Richie can’t fight forever.” But you can’t fight with somebody you don’t talk to. Bill and Ben both try to bounce back and forth between the two groups, but eventually Ben introduces Bill to the writer’s society and they had their own friends now, too. Not really a Losers club when you didn’t feel like Losers anymore.
Richie, Bev and Stan were ready to continuing claiming the titles of Losers. They continue to be only the three of them, through everything. Richie convinces himself that he’s over Eddie, that none of it really mattered at all. The Losers Club was never meant to last right? Eddie and Mike would always have become hot sports gods, Ben always would have lost the weight, Bill always would’ve gotten control of his stutter, and they always would’ve become popular. Or, at least, socially acceptable.
Maybe sometimes Richie thinks he’s dragging Bev and Stan down with him, but he would never be willing to admit that for anything. So he lets Stan and Bev stand by him, lets them keep being dragged down by him. It’s as though they never interact with the other Losers, either. When Bill and Ben get outed in their relationship, Richie took come a couple of punches to the face in their honour. He hangs out with Ben alone for the first time in years after that, and once they get down to it and Ben finally asks the question. “Why did we stop being friends, Rich?”
And yeah, Richie almost backs out of that moment. He has emotionally issues galore, and it didn’t help that he’d been sitting on the guilt of this for three years, right? He broke up the Losers Club and for what? Because Eddie Kaspbrak- future Track and Field champion of Derry- didn’t wanna kiss him? But he’d come this far, and it’s Ben Hanscom- so god help him- Richie tells him everything. And Ben is sort of like? U know... that sort of makes a lot of sense, you’re both idiots.
Ben mentions some huge party off-handedly, and says Richie should come. With Stan and Bev, of course. That their whole class was going to be there, that it wouldn’t be any drama, and that it would just be fun, you know?? and Richie is like... I’m going for weed and that’s it, defintely not because I miss you guys. and Ben is like ok sure richie whatever you say.
But you know... it’s Derry High so like the second Stan/Richie/Bev walk in the door to this house party, they are noticed. By Mike. Who exclaims excitedly and spends an hour trying to get Stan to do a keg stand, even going as far as to literally lift him upside down and carry him around all dangly.
Then OF COURSE, Eddie comes up because that his best friend Mike and Richie’s best friend Stan. And Eddie has been standing around for a good hour and half being like ahah I should talk to him, but he hates me, but he looks so fucking good, no eddie he hates you so he’s finally three drinks in so he just fucking does it.
“They’re idiots, huh?”
Richie laughs, because maybe he’s a little drunk too, and hasn’t quite fully realized he’s talking to Eddie yet. Maybe Eddie looks cute as fuck right now, and maybe Richie is really ready to let go of the grudge he didn’t even need to be holding. It was a long ass time ago, they’re different people now. He’s over Eddie Kaspbrak.
Or he thought he was... until he was four drinks in and couldn’t stop staring at him. Until he was five drinks in, and they were making out against a wall.
Until it was Monday morning, and they were back to not being able to look each other in the eye.

Wow, the reason I couldn’t find any Richie/Ben content was because their ship name is trashstack? Glad to know they’re the only ones with a cool non portmanteau name!
Anyway, with the way Richie is so aggressively flirting with Ben in the book (as adults), and his fdkljhas;dglj his fucking “You look like every Brazilian soccer player” comment, like yeah. Richie has a type. And sorry it’s not Eddie.
And Ben is every straight guy that you’re basically in love with but you value his friendship so much that you’re cool with suffering in silence and pining forever, because he’s very affectionate with you anyway. Like he probably is your roommate at some point, basically you’re boyfriends in all but name.
And if there’s anyone who could fit the “Richie yes!” “Richie no!” “Richie no :(” dynamic, it’s trashstack. Because Eddie only fans the flames of whatever fire is lit under Richie’s ass to make him... like that. And Stan’s tactics of scornful disengagement probably only motivate Richie’s spite.
Eddie and Stan are helpless against Richie. Richie is going to feed off of Eddie’s obnoxious energy as they start bickering for hours, and Richie is only going to try harder the more Stan ignores him.
But Ben... Ben is calm, and safe, and steady. Richie is a wildfire and Ben puts out the wildfire not by using more fire, or by using water, but by using earth. He smothers Richie with attention and love, but he’s also very gently insistent in his own way.
Like, Ben is a giant puppy, of course. He’ll laugh along with Richie’s antics, but he’s also like “Okay, time for business, let’s get serious.” And I don’t know, I can just feel it. Richie needs an outlet for all his energy. Ben can take it. He can also redirect it to help Richie be productive. I mean if you think Richie has ADHD (very plausible) Ben is just, good at handling all the Losers’ various baggage? Ben does not judge people (which Stan tends to do), but he’s willing to offer gentle advice on how you can better yourself (which Eddie is reluctant to do).
Imagine the sessions where Richie and Ben brainstorm ideas together? Ben is designing buildings and Richie is coming up with joke after joke after joke, and Ben is totally honest. That’s just who he is.
Sometimes he’s laughing so hard he cries. Other times he’s like “What the fuck Richie that’s not funny!” Other times he’s like “Huh? That’s a little over my head babe.” And Ben shows Richie his ideas and Richie tends to make jokes, his most popular is “That looks like a dick,” but Richie pushes Ben to be bolder, more creative, more crazy.
Like, Ben would make Richie go jogging and eat kale and shit? But Richie would teach Ben how to use that zombie jogging app, and how to make ice cream out of kale. Ben keeps Richie grounded, and Richie would just, spark this passion in Ben, who does tend to be in his own head as an adult. It’s valid!!! It’s fun and lighthearted and devoted. And we can’t forget, like... whoever you ship Ben with, he’s going to build them a log cabin with his bare hands and then carry them over the threshhold. That’s just canon.

stozier
stozier! my favourite platonic relationship in IT (besides bevchie, stanlon, kaspbrough, marshbrak, trashstack etc). if they’d stayed friends, richie would’ve been best man at the stanpat wedding, hands down. he would’ve cried and said stuff like ‘why didn’t you pick me stanman I’m gonna die alone’ and stan’s like ‘you’re married to eddie’. they have that kind of friendship where richie is holding a bottle of kerosene like ‘shall I drink it’ and stan’s like ‘no don’t you’ll die you should totally drink it’. patty and richie are bros, too. richie is godfather to stan’s kids. I love them. and yeah I get why it’s a romantic ship too but I’m very much patty-for-stan, eddie-for-richie
send me a ship and I’ll give you my (brutally) honest opinion on it

fake dating 5 + trashstack? 🥺 (love u!!!!)
also on AO3
“Fuck! They’re coming!” Richie hissed out, grabbing Ben by the shoulders and yanking him close, making him stumble and bump into Richie, causing them to fall back. Richie let out a grunt as his back hit the floor and Ben fell on top of him, but he seemed unconcerned, his eyes glancing at where the voices were growing louder. Richie looked back at Ben, his eyes wide. “Hurry up and kiss me!”
Ben thought about protesting. They had not kissed yet, not even for practice. But Richie was reaching for his face and Ben reminded himself why they were doing this. So he closed the distance between them and kissed Richie.
It was awkward, he somehow managed to miss half of Richie’s lips. Ben could feel his cheeks heat up from embarrassment, but then Richie was moving his head just enough to align their lips and his hand was running through Ben’s hair, his fingers tangling in it.
Ben found himself melting into it. His eyes slipped closed as they continued to kiss, soft and slow. He didn’t understand what was happening, why his heart was beating so fast, but he decided he didn’t want it to stop, so he deepened the kiss and Richie responded enthusiastically.
He didn’t even react when they were found, barely registered that they were even there. The only thing he seemed to focus on was Richie’s lips on his.
Someone was speaking, but it sounded muffled to him. Richie broke the kiss and they stared at each other, an undecipherable look appearing on Richie’s face. Did he also feel what Ben just felt?
Richie gently pushed him back and Ben sat back, letting Richie get up, a million thoughts running through his mind. Richie helped him up and they went to join the others. A hand slipped into his as they walked and he looked up at Richie who smiled softly at him and Ben smiled back.
There was a reason they had agreed to fake date, but after these passed few weeks of ‘going on dates’ and now this kiss, Ben was finding himself feeling confused and wondered how this was going to affect things between him and Richie, and if their friendship was going to survive it.

Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7 Part 8 Part 9 Part 10 Part 11 Part 12 Part 13 Part 14
*
Tomorrow was the big day. It still hadn’t quite registered with Richie, that tomorrow two of his best friends would be getting married. It seemed like Bev had only just asked him to be her man of honour and then he’d blinked and suddenly the Losers - plus Audra and Patty - were checking into the fancy-as-fuck hotel where the reception would be held, and Ben and Bev were assigned separate rooms until the wedding had taken place, and Stan was running around with a headset trying to make sure the caterers would arrive on time and the flower displays were the ones they ordered and a bunch of other crap Richie stayed the hell out of for the sake of his sanity. Weddings seemed stressful as fuck, and Richie decided then and there that if he was ever going to get married, it would be while drunk as fuck in Vegas with only the Losers present and probably a shitty Elvis impersonator ordaining the whole thing.
“Your rooms are already booked,” said Stan, taking a short break from yelling into his headset. “Just give your name at reception.” He waved them over to the desk and went back to arguing with someone about the colour of the tablecloths.
Richie waited for Patty to collect hers and Stan’s keys, which took a few minutes as she was happily chatting with the receptionist about what kind of birds could be found in the area, and Richie smiled to himself because Stan really deserved someone like her in his life.
“Sorry, love, I won’t keep you waiting,” Patty said, blushing slightly as she remembered there was a queue behind her. She shuffled out of the way and went to chat with Audra and Bev, who seemed thrilled to have other women to talk to, and Richie moved up to the desk and gave the receptionist a smile.
“Richie Tozier,” he said.
“Richard?” the receptionist asked and Richie nodded. “Yes, I have you booked in for room 3b with Mr Edward Kasbrak.”
Richie, in a moment of pure elegance, started choking on air, and Eddie, who had been standing right behind him, shoved his way up to the desk.
“Excuse me? Why are we not in separate rooms?” he hissed, face red.
The receptionist looked a little frightened which Richie couldn’t blame her for; anyone not used to Eddie’s frequent tirades had a right to be terrified of how intense he could be.
“Um… I’m sorry, sir, but it was requested when the rooms were booked…”
“Stanley,” Richie growled, because who else would refer to him as ‘Richard’ when booking a room. “Stanley!” he shouted this time, turning to glare at his friend who only pointed to his headset and mouthed ‘Can’t talk, I’m on the phone,’ even while grinning gleefully at him. Richie flipped him off then turned back to the receptionist, trying to relax his face into a polite smile. “Do you have any other rooms available?”
The receptionist turned to her computer and clacked away at her keyboard, but frowned and shook her head. “I’m sorry, sir, we’re all booked up.”
Eddie pinched the bridge of his nose and it looked like it was taking all of his energy not to start screaming or at least run across the room and punch Stan in the face. “Are there at least two beds?” he said, voice hoarse.
“Just the one king-sized bed, I’m afraid,” the receptionist said. She looked terrified and Richie quickly put himself between her and Eddie to shield her from the waves of anger he was currently radiating.
“We’ll just take the key, thanks.”
The receptionist breathed a sigh of relief before passing over the keycards and Richie dragged Eddie away.
“Dude, it’s fine,” Richie said, trying to be reassuring even though internally he was screaming. “We used to share a bed whenever you slept over at my house, remember?”
“When we were kids,” hissed Eddie.
“It’s just for tonight,” said Richie. “Tomorrow night one of us can steal Ben or Bev’s room after they hitch up together.”
Eddie ran a hand down his face and groaned. “Okay, but we’re stealing all the complementary shit.”
“Of course.”
“And we’re murdering Stan.”
“I couldn’t do that to Patty,” Richie cried, putting a hand to his forehead dramatically.
“If we play our cards right, we can get her to help us,” said Eddie.
“You’re right,” said Richie, “but let’s wait until after the wedding.”
“Deal.”
They dropped their belongings off in their room and Richie stole both the pillow chocolates while Eddie inspected every inch of the room for germs or safety risks. Thankfully, the bed was big enough to fit every one of the Losers, and Richie doubted they’d even brush hands in the night. Then again, he seemed to remember that as kids, Eddie had always been a cuddly sleeper, always seeking out warmth, and Richie had woken up after many a sleepover with Eddie attached to him like a koala. He wondered if Eddie had changed at all.
They met back up with the Losers soon afterwards for dinner in the grand dining hall, and Richie was tempted to tell Bill and Mike that Stan was trying to meddle with their bet, but he was too caught up in devouring the delicious food. They stayed seated around the table long after the last morsels had been finished, chatting away as easily as they always had, and Richie was thrilled with a new audience of Audra and Patty to tell all his old jokes to and embarrass his friends with childhood stories. As it turned out, they had a few embarrassing tales of Bill and Stan of their own, and Richie listened raptly, silently adding the stories to his internal blackmail list.
Once the sky outside was freckled with starlight, they excused themselves to head to bed, wanting to get a good night’s sleep before the big day. Richie wasn’t tired just yet, so decided to explore the hotel, a mighty thing that was probably over a hundred years old, full of grand staircases and fancy paintings and probably a bunch of secret passageways. Richie wandered outside to the grounds, hands tucked deep in his pockets for warmth against the frigid air. The garden was a spectacle all on its own, with hedges neatly trimmed into animal sculptures and framed in moonlight, and an impeccably groomed lawn that stretched on for miles, the blades of grass shimmering gently in the breeze. And huge fountain stood at the centre, the water frozen over in midair and twinkling like diamonds under the starlight, and woodland bordered the lawn, pine trees towering over everything like silent guardians. He wondered how it would all look in the spring with flowers blooming in the flowerbeds and the fountain flowing freely, the water sparkling in the sunshine.
He made his way over to one of the benches that sat against the hotel wall facing the grounds and found it was already occupied.
“How you doing there, Haystack?” Richie greeted, taking a seat beside Ben who was fidgeting with a piece of paper in his hands. “Pre-wedding jitters?”
Ben gave him a shaky smile and nodded, folding up the piece of paper and slipping it into his jacket pocket. “Any minute now, I feel like I’m gonna wake up and realise this has all been a dream.”
“Long ass dream,” Richie commented. He leaned over and pinched Ben’s arm and grinned when he yelped. “Nope, you’re not dreaming!”
“Still hard to believe,” said Ben, rubbing his arm where Richie had pinched him. “If you went back in time and told thirteen-year-old Ben he’d be marrying Beverly Marsh, he would not have believed you.”
“If you went back in time and told little Ben he’d end up looking hotter than the Hemsworth brothers, he wouldn’t have believed you either, but here you are.”
“He wouldn’t know who the Hemsworth brothers were,” Ben laughed.
“Hotter than, uh...” Richie shrugged. “I dunno, who’s the hottest New Kids on the Block guy?”
“They’re all equally hot, I can’t choose,” Ben said, shaking his head solemnly.
“You’d go for an orgy, huh?”
Ben snorted and nudged Richie affectionately. “Shut up.”
Richie grinned and nudged him back. “Seriously, man, you’re gonna be fine. You and Bev are meant to be, trust me.”
“It’s still so surreal,” said Ben gazing up at the stars wistfully. “I’ve been in love with her since we were kids. Can you imagine-” He stopped short, glancing at Richie. “I mean-” He coughed - “It’s just- It’s just like a dream come true, really. That’s all.”
“I can imagine,” said Richie quietly. He was staring down at his shoes but didn’t miss the surprised look Ben sent his way. He cleared his throat before looking up at Ben once more and giving him a grin he hoped looked genuine. “You’re a lucky guy.”
Ben just looked at him, his eyes soft and brows furrowed slightly in concern, then he edged closer to Richie and took his hand. “Listen, man, if you ever wanna talk, I’m here.”
“Oh, I’m just fine, Benjamin,” Richie said with false cheer. “This is your big day!”
But Ben didn’t relent. “Seriously,” he said softly. “The other’s joke about it, I know. They think it’s just a crush. But I- I know.”
That gave Richie pause. “You do?” he said, his voice coming out hoarser than he meant it to.
“Remember after we beat Pennywise and Eddie was hurt?” said Ben, and Richie nodded because he couldn’t possibly forget. It had been the worst time of his life. “You pulled him out of there and we had to drag you to the Quarry while he was in intensive care so we could clean up a bit and you just- You just started crying.” He paused, squeezing Richie’s hand a little tighter, and Richie just stared fixedly at the ground trying to suppress the emotions from that day that were trying to claw their way back up. “That,” said Ben. “That’s exactly how I would’ve reacted if- If it had been Bev.” He swallowed tightly as if the mere thought of Bev getting hurt caused him pain.
“You love him,” said Ben softly. It wasn’t a question, but Richie nodded anyway. “As long as I’ve loved Bev?”
“Longer, bitch, I’ve got you beat,” said Richie, trying for his usual humour except it came out as half a sob. “Shit,” he said, dragging his free hand down his face. “This is so stupid. I’m like a fucking school girl.”
“You’re not stupid, Rich,” said Ben. He smiled gently, always so soft and sincere. “You’re a lovesick fool, just like me.”
“Same thing,” Richie snorted. “But you can’t talk, you got her in the end.”
“Who says you won’t get Eddie?” said Ben.
Richie snorted again. “Look at you, and then at me. Hot Brazilian soccer player versus weird hobo who can never shut up. You could’ve gotten anyone you wanted.”
“I don’t think Bev likes me just for my looks,” said Ben. “At least I hope not. And I don’t think Eddie’s cares either. And shut up, you’re attractive! In like… and unconventional sense.”
“Thanks, man.”
“You know what I mean.” Ben nudged him again, grinning. “Personally, I think you’re just Eddie’s type. And I know he likes you.”
“Oh yeah?” said Richie. “And how come you’re so sure?”
Ben smiled softly again, his eyes twinkling brightly in the starlight and his expression so open and sincere. “Because he looks at you the way I used to look at Bev.”
Richie gaped at him, witty retort stuck on his tongue. He stammered, flustered, then shoved Ben away slightly, extracting his hand from his grip. “Yeah fucking right, Haystack. You just wanna win whatever bet you have with the others.”
“I never took that bet,” said Ben. He smiled at the surprised look Richie gave him. “I’m rooting for you no matter what you decide, Trashmouth. Whatever makes you happy.”
“You’re too good for this world, Benny-boy,” said Richie. “You’re gonna make a disgustingly wonderful husband.”
“I hope so,” Ben said. “She deserves the whole world.”
“Seriously gonna vomit,” Richie warned and Ben just laughed at him.
They sat there in companionable silence for a while, just gazing up at the stars until Richie figured his nose was gonna drop off from frostbite if he stayed outside any longer and he dragged Ben in with him, telling him to get a good nights sleep for the big day tomorrow.
Richie made his way back to his room a little apprehensively - Eddie would blow up if he got woken up - but he found the room empty. He checked his phone to find some texts from Eddie he’d missed while out with Ben.
[10:23] Spaghetti <3: Don’t wait up
[10:23] Spaghetti <3: Staying with Bev tonight
Richie’s stomach filled with something akin to disappointment which was ridiculous; he’d spent his whole adult life not sharing a bed with Eddie and it wasn’t as though something would happen even if he was. He refused to let his disappointment show, even to himself, and sent a quick reply to Eddie.
[11:39] Richie: Sleeping with the bride on her wedding night?? How scandalous!
[11:40] Spaghetti <3: Shut the fuck up trashmouth
Richie smiled to himself at Eddie’s quick, ever-annoyed response.
[11:41] Richie: Nighty night Eds
[11:42] Spaghetti <3: Night Rich
[11:42] Spaghetti <3: Don’t call me that
Richie tossed the phone on his nightstand. It was probably a good thing he had the room to himself; he’d probably be up all night having a gay panic with Eddie sleeping next to him and end up looking like a complete zombie on the wedding day. And besides, this meant he had the whole bed to himself. Room to stretch out without Eddie koala-clinging to him in the middle of the night. He definitely hadn’t missed that. At least, that’s what he kept telling himself.
