Stress set a trap at the shopping district

And dropped Scar right into a pufferfish pit

Cub’s stunt got stuck and X felt robbed

So he got a skeleton to finish the job

But Bdubs got it boiling as Cleo foretold

And when Joe got the rug pulled from under his feet

Strahm’s divorced. He still wears his wedding ring - out of habit, is what he’ll tell everyone. He actually wears it because he refuses to admit she divorced him for being too focused on his work.

Adam lived in a punk house for the first few years of his independence. His dad kicked him out of the house at 17 when he dropped out of highschool, and Scott offered him a place in the house. A whole bunch of people under that roof. It’s what got both Adam and Scott further into the scene. Once he got enough money to get his own place, he swore that he’d live alone until he was 30.

After the reverse bear trap, Amanda swore that no matter how hard she tried, her hair still felt sticky and blood-soaked. She chopped it all off to get rid of that feeling.

Adam isn’t loyal to one cigarette brand. Most of his cigarettes come from bumming them outside of concerts.

Strahm hates massages. Capital H, Hates.

Lawrence didn’t have custody of Diana at first. He had visitation, but after everything he went through, his mental state was a concern.

Strahm doesn’t listen to music when he’s driving. Ever. Not even radio. He drives in complete silence.

Adam has a huge CD collection. Most of it isn’t bought. A lot of it is downloaded and burned. He hates paying for music.

Adam was initially invited to be in Scott’s band, but he sucks at playing instruments. He ends up hanging out with them a lot anyways, and he’s invited to every show, but he kind of does his own thing.

Perez was initially very thrown off when she was paired with Strahm because of how unconventionally he does things. She quickly adapted.

Strahm recently quit smoking, but he still gets the urge. The pen clicking is his new vice.

Daniel Matthews refuses to listen to mainstream music. Like refuses so hard. He thinks he’s the coolest guy in the world for listening to underground punk rock bands.

Members of London’s 1981 electroplasm scene, a fusion of extreme body modification, mortality edging, and electronic music, where specific frequencies generated by custom modular synthesizer hardware were found to stimulate spectral wavelengths enough to generate ecloplasm and control its psychokinetic growth into electronic wiring, creating sounds unlike anyone (living) had ever heard before.

The most hardcore electroplasm musicians, flatmates at a warehouse space they called The Cortex, began fusing their nervous systems to the hardware such that the electroplasm could flow through their bodies, syncing with their biorhythms, turning them into electronic posthuman processors in a chain of spirit-charged flesh modules. As the ectoplasm rewired their brains and warped their forms, they were no longer technically “alive” by standard definitions, but held on the bleeding edge of the mortal plane by the spirits trapped in them, howling supernatural tones they shaped with their body instruments.

As the niche scene grew, more devotees joined the chain of spirit vessels in The Cortex, giving their bodies to the rhythm, building the beat, forming new otherworldly sounds with each new human instrument. These “beat zombies,” as NME coined them, could only continue “living” as long as the sonic frequencies continued through the chain, and so the beat at The Cortex ran 24/7, their “musical life support.” Hundreds of fans gathered to dance at the undead rave, the most unique performance art ever seen; some predicted the sound would last forever, growing so big that one day every human who ever lived would become connected to it, a jam session across all souls, here and beyond.

Unfortunately, the entire electroplasm scene ended abruptly just a few months after it had begun, when the power was cut to the warehouse space, killing all 78 posthuman vessels instantly and releasing all of the spiritual energy trapped within them at once in a psychokinetic blast that razed four city blocks. It turned out that when the musicians gave their minds & bodies to electrically-charged ectoplasmic sound, they never thought about who would pay the utility bills.

If you're willing to give it, I'd love to hear your assesment of just how much psychic damage would a TFP Tarn take in a Souls=Sparks Soulmate/Sparkmate AU under a given set of circumstances. Cause virgin zelot Tarn would be having trauma feelings about the matter under good circumstances and i kinda want to put him in a situation.

So Sparkmates hear their Sparkmate when their Other half makes music. Tarn was shocked to hear when he was humming the empyrian suite to snuff a traitor's spark a soft crooning chirp badly echoing it back to him. And it kept hapening. Eventualy joined by terrible but steadily improving atempts to play some sort of stringed instrument. He has a Sparkmate! Aparently some sort of musicaly inclined newspark perhaps one of the lost colonies has a functioning hot spot? Tarn eventualy made a game as they were nearing their predictable recharge cycle to sing and improvise the Deceticon Battle Anthem with them. Just so their cargivers knew there was a correct side and his mate is brought up properly.

One day there is a single staccato burst of vitriolic trills then absolute silence. No response to anything music he makes. Since Lord Megatron ordered him to some planet called Earth for the final conflict with the Autobots he can't even search for the newspark. It's a race to beat Prime's reinforcements to the planet.

Tarn is in a poor mood when there's no room for The Peaceful Tyranny to dock on the Nemisis. The invasion of this mudball has thrown the Six Phases out the air lock. Aparently someone's ship made an emergency landing in a major city. During a planatary wide broadcast. During which they proceded to trash said city live, blaring the Deceticon Battle Anthem. Worse Megatron ordered the 'cons using the organic's language. The data download still feels wrong on his glossa. To top the bad day off, Lord Megatron wants the Autobots' personal pet squishies brought to him alive. So he has to look out for ten or so specific squishies. Several of which have been inducted into the Wreckers. Including a juvenile menace who managed to steal the Apex Armor to lethal effect.

The prospect of taking an Autobot base raises Tarn's batterd spirits just a bit. Right up untill one of the pets he's been ordered to live capture starts blaring music and explosions start going off. Of course it's a fragging trap. When the lyrics start a familiar, now intelligible, voice rusty with disuse begins to sing along bitterly inside his helm.

lenore was the first to climb out of the wreckage. when seeing her friends and sister was still trapped beneath the rubble and debris, she sprang into action — grabbing and moving glass and hot pieces of metal out of the way to free them. this has left her with severe burns to her palms and fingers, to which she covers up the majority of the scarring with fingerless leather gloves.

lenore DESPISES doctors. the sterile rooms and instruments remind her far too much of their experimentations during the abduction. she has not seen once since, not even for a physical. however, if her sister or friends have an appointment, she will always go with them — watching the doctor like a hawk and never straying far from the side of who she’s with.

she forced her sister and friends to download life360 after the abduction ( where she set role as the mom to get the most precise updates )

fueled by the all-consuming need to find mikey and bring him home, lenore secured a position as an intern at a local investigation agency — and applies all she learns from her mentor to tracking down and finding mikey. she keeps this a secret from the others, her sister included.

she worries about her sister a lot. she wants to do something more to help, to restore any piece of her that had been taken by their tragic circumstances. there have been a few ( or more, but lenore won’t count ) instances where she finds herself on the receiving end of julia’s irritation and anger — but it’s okay. lenore never holds it against her. she understands, and she just tries to do all she can to be there for her, and to bring mikey home to her.

edmund got pictures of the UFO, and lenore is doing everything in her power to get him to destroy them - to not show them to anyone, for fear of them all either being labeled mad, or worse, being believed, and being subjected to government holds and testings as a result. she won’t let anyone hurt them again. especially not her sister.

New 5e Homebrew doc on DMsGuild for $2.50

Technically speaking, your character has a passive skill check for each of their skills. There isn't room to keep track of all of these passives on your character sheet, and keeping track of them on a virtual sheet or other digital tool is still a pain. Moreover, the usefulness of passive ability scores beyond passive perception (the most commonly used passive score) is incredibly minimal—so why bother having those passives at all?

This document attempts to find a use for passive skill checks beyond passive perception checks. In summary, the optional rules in this document change normal passive skill checks into specific routine passive skill checks. These routine passives are the things that a character does over and over again—checking for traps, reading the titles on a bookshelf for hints, observing NPC reactions, etc. Having routine passives means you are limited to what passive checks you can make, but your passive checks become more impactful. They aren't limited to the base skills either; routine passives can be any of the base skills OR any tool, language, or instrument. There are caveats and limitations, and not all routine passive skill choices are good choices for every game.

In addition to rules for routine passive scores, this document includes optional rules for additional skills. These skills include customizable lore skills, luck, honor, and breath. These optional skills can work independently of routine passives but shine when used together.

Lastly, modified character sheet pages are provided for players that wish to use routine passives or any of the optional skills. These character sheet pages are downloadable PDFs, including printer-friendly and form-fillable documents.

"I was not expecting a Beast song when I went to see this movie. And to have him sing about letting her go and what he’s giving up?! Obvious choice I guess but still, a powerful moment. I cannot listen to this one only once, I always have to play it back. It’s the ultimate “if you love her let her go” it’s the perfect “you don’t know what you have til it’s gone” it’s exactly “finally growing up, but perhaps too late” song. As much as I would prefer to relate to Rapunzel who was trapped in her tower, this song pokes at my mind asking if maybe I’m choosing to waste away in my lonely castle. There’s a whole world out there but he’s never embraced it and now he has had to give up the one person who might have made that world less scary. This song also inspired me to consider what future Beast is looking forward to now. How he has changed his visualization so much since Belle arrived. This song takes Beast’s single line from 1991 and improves our understanding of him infinity."

Now I really want to know everything you assumed from the out-of-context songs.

Sorry this took so long to answer! I had to really sit down and think about this one, because of how ingrained the reality is now. (Fair warning - the non-reality was pretty ridiculous).

Generally, I assumed two things: A) that the tracks were in chronological order, and B) that the actual songs were all sung by characters in the episodes. So you see where I would easily go wrong.

Oh, and I also remember looking over all the titles beforehand, and getting my own expectations of what they would sound like, which only added to my confusion.

Now, on to the list! Which is a little long, so be ye forewarned!

Prelude - I believe I assumed that all preludes have snippets of the main themes of the album (when in fact it was just one song).

Into the Unknown - okay, I'm sure I wasn't expecting the other one, but it probably coloured my expectations in some way. I was a little concerned by "the loveliest lies of all". May have thought the singer was some stranger the boys met on their journey, possibly telling them stuff in a vague, riddling way, but possibly not entirely trustworthy.

You Have Beautiful Eyes - "the main boy is met with some old hag, possibly a witch, and he's trying to hurry and compliment her to get her off his back as quickly as possible, but he's being awkward and bad at it"

Pottsfield C.M. - "probably some pseudo-Christian cult, which is annoying and cliché if true"

Patient Is The Night - "some guy they meet in a cornfield who's singing about his girlfriend"

Adelaide Parade - "it's early in the show, and they're heading off to meet the bird, because the bird is Adelaide"

Money For School - "they want to go to some school, so this is a montage of them trying to earn money to attend (annoying plot, why do you want to go to school in the middle of a fantastic adventure)"

Miss Langtree's Lament - "annoying teacher who can't stop going on and on about some jerk (extremely tedious song)"

Potatoes and Molasses - "the younger boy being creative and disorderly to go against the no-fun rule of the school (the guy at the end is the headmaster)"

Off to Bed - "they've been punished for their funloving nature and now are being sent off to bed (except it's major key for some reason?)"

The Beast Is Out There - I think I did envision a tavern, to be honest, but I may have pictured the singer as younger and shorter (also, one of the ones I downloaded for the heck of it!)

The Highwayman - "some mysterious man they met on the road after they left the tavern reveals he was secretly a thief (though I expected an instrumental?)"

A Courting Song - "this is Endicott, who's being a pushy annoying nobleman in his mansion, trying to suck the main boy into an unwanted Pride and Prejudice type plot with a random girl"

Endicott Manor - "this is just continuing from the previous song in the same plot (evidence for the guy being Endicott)"

The Journey Begins - "how is this the beginning of a journey, this is not setting-forth music"

Half-Moon River - "were they setting out on a creepy river at night? is that the journey?"

McLaughlin Bros. Jug Band - "they're going undercover as a jug band for some reason in a new plot"

Over the Garden Wall - "wait, is this the theme song? why is it way in the middle?"

Send Me A Peach - "some sweet little Antebellum-style couple they run into in a town (the Southern emphasis is appreciated)"

Adelaide's Trap - "Adelaide the Bird is in a trap, and the boys have to sneak in and free her, but there's a fight with the villain who trapped her near the end"

Like Ships - "oh this is probably at the end of some plotline with the girl he likes and they're confessing their love (also Elijah Wood is singing, that's sweet)"

More Bones To Sort - "some kind of weird little underworld with a random goblin or skeleton merchant selling bones"

Old North Wind - "some guy singing about the wind (not a character) on a cold night, very frontier-cabin-at-night vibes"

Forward, Oneiroi - "okay, now there's opera, this is a confusing show"

The Fight Is Over - "apparent reversal, someone is trying to get them to give up (weird random country rock song)"

Tiny Star - "this annoying little comet who falls in love with the main boy while they're visiting some star kingdom (bewildering, very much spoiling the vibe)"

Old Black Train - "much too jaunty for that title, they're probably trying to avoid getting on this train and this guy is being helpful but also a little creepy"

The Old Mill - "they come across this place when they're wandering and it's very creepy, probably haunted or has some dark thing going on (most creepy track so far)"

Come Wayward Souls - I am trying so hard to remember what I thought about this one, I may have been trying to figure out if this was a good guy or a bad guy (like, is this a villain, or is it just a song in a hopeless situation?)

The Clouded Annals of History - "they went to a mysterious library and are looking for a book to give them clues about something"

Can't You See I'm Lonely - trying to remember what I thought about this guy (might've assumed he was the same guy who sang the peach song earlier, waiting for his girl to come back)

Shine On, Harvest Moon - "oh, I know this one! (much slower than I'm used to, though)"

Everything Is Nice And Fine - "a couple of suspiciously-perky twins in fun Munchkin land, which has this dark secret they're trying to cover up (but do I want to believe they're actually good?)"

Halloween Halftime - could not stand it, only just added it to my liked songs recently (it just seemed so random and boring!)

Two Old Cat - "they meet an old talking-cat couple living in a house and have tea with them"

The Jolly Woodsman - "oh he seems like a nice guy, some jolly old burly Paul Bunyan type, lamenting that youth is a fragile thing in his song (no connection of dots with the voice)"

Tome of the Unknown - "they made an accompanying-documentation-of-the-main-characters'-doings book, like Journal 3, and this was in the commercial for it"

I tried to remember as much as I could, but it's been a long time since I first listened through. And again, a lot of the songs I have listed here as annoying are actually really fun now that I have the context! It's just really hilarious to look back on all my misconceptions.
