Lil Nas X featuring Billy Ray Cyrus - Old Town Road 2019
"Old Town Road" is the debut mainstream single by American rapper Lil Nas X, first released independently in December 2018. After gaining popularity, the single was re-released in March 2019. The rapper also recorded a remix with American country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, which was released on April 5, 2019. Both were included on Lil Nas X's second EP, 7 (2019). Dutch record producer YoungKio composed the instrumental and made it available for purchase online in 2018. It features a sample of "34 Ghosts IV" by the American industrial rockband Nine Inch Nails. The sample was placed behind trap-style Roland TR-808 drums and bass. Lil Nas X purchased the instrumental for US$30 and recorded "Old Town Road" in one day.
The song reached number 19 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart before the magazine disqualified it from the chart on the grounds that it did not "fit" the genre, sparking a debate on what constitutes the "definition" of country music. Though "Old Town Road" did not re-enter any country charts, both versions of the song collectively peaked at number 1 on the main Billboard Hot 100, remaining at the top for a record-breaking 19 consecutive weeks; the remix peaked at number 50 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart. "Old Town Road"'s overall run at number one is the longest in chart history, surpassing the previous record of sixteen weeks achieved by both "One Sweet Day" (poll #296) and "Despacito". One or more versions of "Old Town Road" have topped the national singles charts in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Switzerland and the UK, and have charted in the top 10 in various other international markets.
The song was certified diamond by the RIAA in October 2019 for selling 10 million total units in the US, the fastest song to be certified diamond. At the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards, the remix featuring Billy Ray Cyrus was nominated for Record of the Year and won Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Best Music Video. In September 2021, the song set the record for the second-highest certified song in history by the RIAA, at 16× platinum in the US - meaning it accumulated 16 million equivalent song units. The single has sold over 18 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling singles of all time.
"Old Town Road" received a total of 80,6% yes votes!

In the wake of the Drake/Kendrick beef its become clear that a lot of people here don't know what hip-hop is and/or don't know how to listen to it. Instead of dunking on people's ignorance I'd like to offer up an educational opportunity. Hip-hop can be difficult to get into if you come from an exclusively white and rock oriented upbringing. It simply listens differently than other popular music and you have to learn how to listen to it. This is honestly true of all music, but white america grows up with modern rock and pop that more or less derive their structure from tin pan alley music of the early 1900's. Hip-hop is a derivative of the 70's disco scene. Disco had an even more dance oriented feel than the funk that it spun off from. And funk was already more rhythm heavy than the Soul and Rhythm & Blues that birthed the funk scene.
Hip-hop is, first and foremost, a black artform and I am not black. So I'm not trying to position myself as a community ambassador or anything, but I do get that there are some barriers that white suburban kids face when it comes to getting into hip-hop. I also know that I am very, very into hip-hop so being a suburban white kid is clearly not an excuse for dismissing an entire artform. And racism isn't something you are it's something you do. So its time to stop talking about Weird Al and Eminem* whenever someone asks if you like rap. Right now it is time to learn how to listen.
*all due respect to eminem, he's actually really good, but we aren't talking about white rappers right now
When listening to rap one of the first things you need to pay attention to is the rapper's flow. A rapper's instrument is their voice, but unlike what you may be used to rap vocals are part of the percussion. In the songs included below, try to listen for how the vocals create a rhythmic counterpoint to the instrumentals. and listen for how rappers use rhyme as well as rhythm to create a pleasing cadence. Don't worry about what they're saying, listen to how they say it.
All Caps We start with All Caps, an absolute beast of a song. MF DOOM meets the frantic energy of the beat with a steady even flow that feels effortless. DOOM interlocks Rhyme schemes and uses matching vowel sounds throughout the verses to create the illusion that he is just dropping thoughts off the top of his head. The maneuver he pulls in the last stanza always blows my mind. making a *pop* sound to onomatopoetically match the vowel sound in pot, got, and snot while also rhyming troubles and bubbles.
A Milli Next up is Lil Wayne. Much like DOOM he can bury rhyme schemes for days, but instead of a smooth even flow he goes in bursts of frantic energy to contrast the very steady beat.
Ultimate Denzel Curry is probably one of the best in the trap scene and Ultimate is an early track where he is nailing the lazy beat, angry delivery thing. his shouted couplets overlay the trilled snare to create a texture that is actually very typical of trap music.
Izzo (H.O.V.A.) Jay-Z has a triumphant tone and a sing-songy cadence to his voice. He tends to match the percussive parts of his raps to the downbeat of the drums and it further emphasizes the strings from the Jackson Five sample and his more melodic lilting.
Bad Character You might notice that Quasimoto sounds... uh... well its Madlib with his voice pitched up. Weirdly Quas has a totally different cadence than Madlib. The timbre of his voice is so distinctive but he raps so casually. It almost feels like he is disconnected from the beat, but he's still right on it. It is a weird quirky atmosphere.
ATliens ATliens is the first song on the list with multiple rappers on it. Big Boi is a master of the straightforward 90's gangsta style while Andre 3000 has a supernatural sense for where he is on the beat that allows him to dodge and weave around it. the two of them work together by giving a back and forth between the extreme steadyness of Big Boi and the extreme wonkiness of Andre 3000.
Protect Ya Neck The Wu-Tang Clan had a lot of members and Protect Ya Neck has all of them on it. It would take forever to explain the different styles of the whole Clan so I'm just gonna let you hear it all yourself. even if you can't tell them all apart it is still pretty easy to tell when they pass the mic.
Ready Or Not Wyclef Jean and Ms. Lauryn Hill are two of the best rappers, and also Pras is here. The interpolation of soul hooks that show off Lauryn Hill's singing skills were standard for the group, but Hill could switch from singing to rapping on a dime. Even when they are rapping there is a sense of soul music underlying their music.
Life's A Bitch Another track with a laid back beat. I couldn't tell you when Nas takes a fucking breath in this song. he just goes and goes. everyone on this is so smooth.
Fix Up, Look Sharp Finally I had to get some really rowdy shit on here. Dizze Rascal's flow is so bombastic. he hits every downbeat as hard as possible and almost drowns out the steady snare-kick beat with his voice alone. Like Jay-Z he is also very sing-songy.
To Be Continued ===> Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part4 | Part 5 | Part 6

Howdy Pillar x Reader
Warnings: tickling aghahbg, howdy uses his many hands for evil lol, kissy kissy fluff yuhhh, I was gonna scrap this fic n don't wanna look at it anymore so it may have mistakes lol
You and Howdy bake a batch of cookies together, and it is quickly learned how impatient you are.
“And there we are!”
Howdy placed the sheet of cookies on the stove top, shutting the oven. Two hands rested on his hips, the other pair crossed over his chest, puffed with pride.
“They look perfect!” He grinned. “Surely because of your help, of course!” He hummed, nudging you gently as you ogled the freshly baked treats.
“They smell so good,” is all you could utter.
You were so tempted just to grab one of the ooey-gooey pastries, despite the fact it would more likely than not immediately fall apart. Howdy could sense this oozing desire.
“Now, don’t go burning yourself. I know that look of temptation in your eye,”
Your gaze met his, your eyes widened slightly in surprise. You flashed a sheepish smile, slumping.
“They just look so tasty…” you sighed dreamily, eyes returning to your awaiting prize. The two of you had put so much work into making them. Howdy made a great mixer with all those arms! Made for easy cleanup, too!) How could you not want to test a sample?
“They’re not quite ready yet. Just a little longer, bug,” he assured, watching your hands clench in and out of fists with resistance, finding it to be nothing less than amusing.
“No touching, okay? I’m just going to run these eggs we borrowed back to Sally, then I’ll be right back!” one of Howdy’s hands set on your back as he moved around you to grab the carton.
“No touch,” he pointed a finger at you, squinting playfully as the others rested on his hips. He repeated, “I’ll be right back. I’m sure they’ll be cooled by then. Just wait for me,”
“Yeah, yeah. Hurry up!” You laughed, pushing him along towards the door.
With a final promise he would return quickly, Howdy was off, leaving you and the cookies alone. Unsupervised…
And man, it was tempting. It really, truly was. You looked over your shoulder at your foe on the stove, glaring. You’ll be mine soon…
You stole a glimpse at the clock, exhaling dramatically. The two of you had already tidied up your mess while waiting for the timer, so what were you to do now? Admire your wondrous creations from afar?
Unable to come up with anything else, that’s quite precisely what you did.
Your elbows rested on the countertop, chin on top of your hands. The sweet aroma wafted through the house, a gentle breeze flowing in from the open window.
Tick, tock, tick, tock
The steady click of the clock made time feel like it was moving extra slow. Each second dragged on for what felt like an eternity. Huh. You had less self control than you thought…
Your fingers drummed against the counter. Your toes tapped against the floor. Your eyes darted between the cookies and clock again. Come on, Howdy, what was taking so long?
Another hefty sigh escaped you. A look at the clock, a look at the cookies. Just one couldn’t hurt, right? It was Howdy’s fault you were waiting an eternity!
Despite the slight pit of guilt in your belly, you reached toward the sheet, knowing the satisfaction of the cookie would fill that pit right up. Finally, it was yours!
A hand grasped your wrist, an arm looping your waist.
“Ah-ah-ah,”
Whelp, spoke too soon. You tried!
“What do you think you’re doing, you little stink bug?” Howdy hummed, amusement dripping from his tone as he turned you around to face him. Ah. Trapped between him and the counter. Not a good place to be for what you reckoned the consequences to your actions would be
“Come on!” You drew out, giving a pleading pout. “You were taking so long!”
Please let you be spared, please let you be spared… it didn’t look too promising with the quirk of his brow and smirk he wore.
“I was barely gone five minutes!” He cackled with mirth. “And you know how I feel about thieves,”
That smirk seemed much more threatening all of a sudden.
“No.” You eyed him warily, knowing exactly what was to come. “Don’t you dare,”
“I think you deserve some form of punishment,” he shrugged with a grin. His upper set of hands had taken yours into his grasp…
“Howdy…” You attempted to reason. “Please!”
No chance.
His fingers glided along your sides, digging into the carefully. You laughed and squirmed, begging for him to stop.
“You need to learn your lesson somehow!” He chuckled, pausing his attack to give you a chance to own up to your actions. “Will you try to defy me again?”
You only giggled, body twisting away with what you knew would come after your response.
“You’re asking for quite a lot there, mister…” You really weren't doing yourself any favours, were you?
His fingers returned to their attack, poking and jutting into your sides.
“Okay, okay, okay! I yield!” You cackled, the pitch to your voice fluctuating. To your pleas, Howdy paused.
“Have you learned?” He eyed you warily.
“Yes,” you panted out with a grin. “Yes, I have learned.”
“Well, I think you owe me an apology,” he said, “some compensation, you know?” He smiled innocently, earning a roll of your eyes. His hands had found your waist, the two that had trapped your hands trailing to rest on your sides.
“Yeah, yeah. Close your eyes, there, big guy,” you played along, a hand cupping his face. Once his eyes were closed, though, you made your move.
Your free hand snuck to the stove top, snatching up a treat.
“Mm,” you hummed in delight as you took a bite,
“Why, you deceiving little–”
“Have a taste!” you grinned, pulling him in for the smooch you knew he desired. It took him by surprise, but he was not opposed.
When you pulled away, you snickered softly at the shock on his features.
“We did pretty good, right?” You flashed an innocent smile, taking another bite.
“I’ll forgive you this time,” he grumbled, cheeks pink and a playful glare on his face. “But you’re a little scoundrel sometimes, you know?”
“Yeah, I know.”

Material religion is a framework used by scholars of religion to examine the interaction between religion and material culture.
Auditory illusions are illusions of real sound or outside stimulus.[1] These false perceptions are the equivalent of an optical illusion: the listener hears either sounds which are not present in the stimulus, or sounds that should not be possible given the circumstance on how they were created.[2] Composers have long been using the spatial components of music to alter the overall sound experienced by the listener.[14] One of the more common methods of sound synthesis is the use of combination tones. Combination tones are illusions that are not physically present as sound waves, but rather, they are created by one's own neuromechanics*.[15] (Ecstasy and Percocet)
Dioceses ruled by an archbishop are commonly referred to as archdioceses; most are metropolitan sees, being placed at the head of an ecclesiastical province. In the Catholic Church, some are suffragans of a metropolitan see or are directly subject to the Holy See.
Strega Tradwave is a Angolan artistic style using synthwave and vaporwave art to promote traditional catholicism and promote Venice cultural antagonism. Tradwave usually uses traditional catholic paintings, sculptures, or photographs of saints, given with vaporwave effects, often with a bible verse or quote about catholicism. The art usually tries to convey a resurrection of catholic spirituality in the modern atheist world. Figures often depicted in Tradwave art include Jesus Christ, the Virgin Mary, Ven. Fulton Sheen, Cardinal Robert Sarah, and Mother Angelica.
Tradwave music often takes the form of two main styles. One of them is catholic hymns with vaporwave effects and traditional Vaporwave/Lo-Fi music. It can also have quotes from modern prolific Catholic figures, such as Ven. The other theme is Fulton Sheen and Cardinal Robert Sarah. Brasil Street Photography.
In astrology, Pluto is called "the great renewer" and is considered to represent the part of a person that destroys in order to renew by bringing up buried intense needs and drives to the surface, and expressing them, even at the expense of the existing order. It is associated with absolutes, power, extremities, transformations, incredible feats, mass movements, and the need to cooperate or share with another if each is not to be destroyed.[42] Pluto governs major business and enormous wealth, mining, surgery and detective work, and any enterprise that involves digging under the surface to bring the truth to light. Pluto is also associated with Tuesday, alongside Mars since Pluto is the higher octave of that planet in astrology.
TRILLWAVE HISTORY: The earliest form of "trill" music was Memphis Rap, also known as Memphis Horrorcore (depending on who you ask). Memphis Horrorcore would essentially be the birth of trap. Three Six Mafia would help invent the triplet rap flow, which many rappers to this day use in many songs. The signature sound of jazz/funk samples often used on top of raw drums, snares, hats, percussions, and cowbells. It really was a whole new sound the world hadn't heard before. This aesthetic would also extend beyond music, with the cover art for a lot of the mid-to-late 90s Memphis albums being misty, dark, often devilish, and very obviously done on a budget. All in all, Memphis Rap is an important part of Trillwave. Once the late 2000s rolled around, new generation artists started to experiment with trap/rap music, and in the early 2010s, "phonk" was born due to the infamous artist SpaceGhostPurrp. Phonk would forever change the world of hip-hop and helped define the early 2010s "swag era" or "trill era".
The word "possession" is used here in its neutral form to mean "a state (sometimes psychological) in which an individual's normal personality is replaced by another". This is also sometimes known as 'aspecting'. This can be done as a means of communicating with or getting closer to a deity or spirit, and as such need not be viewed synonymously with demonic possession. In some religious traditions including Shamanism, "invocation" means to draw a spirit or Spirit force into one's own body and is differentiated from "evocation", which involves asking a spirit or force to become present at a given location. Possessive invocation may be attempted singly or, as is often the case in Wicca, in pairs - with one person doing the invocation (reciting the liturgy or prayers and acting as anchor), and the other person being invoked (allowing themselves to become a vessel for the spirit or deity). The person successfully invoked may be moved to speak or act in non-characteristic ways, acting as the deity or spirit; and they may lose all or some self-awareness while doing so. A communication might also be given via imagery (a religious vision).
The Heavenly host (Hebrew: צבאות ṣəḇāʾōṯ, "armies") refers to the army (or host) of Yahweh, as mentioned in both the Hebrew and Christian Bibles, as well as other Abrahamic texts. Principalities are enormous as they are said to make up entire planes with their bodies. They are shown wearing a crown and carrying a scepter, with massive metallic wings of a dimly gold color. They also are shown to be wearing humanoid masks of various silver and gold colors, and rarely do they ever reveal their faces. They are strong in performing miracles, in attracting the celestial gifts and in redistributing them after receiving them. It is said that at the end of the world the powers of the heavens will be disrupted, because for their activity wonderful things will be accomplished on the elements. They are those who possess a sovereign character with power of command within the divine order. Principalities collaborate with the Powers in the management of human politics, receiving orders directly from the Dominions Angels. In the Kabbalah, they inhabit the sephirah Netzach and rule over love and beauty, with Anael being their leader. (Winged Celestial Beings Under YHWH)
Ayurveda therapies have varied and evolved over more than two millennia.[2] Therapies include herbal medicines, special diets, meditation, yoga, massage, laxatives, enemas, and medical oils.[10][11] Ayurvedic preparations are typically based on complex herbal compounds, minerals, and metal substances (perhaps under the influence of early Indian alchemy or rasashastra).

Ethnic Group, ONYE NCHE: Boxing Gym Culture Gangsters; Black separatism is a separatist political movement that seeks separate economic and cultural development for those of African descent in societies. Ethnic separatism can be based on cultural, linguistic as well as religious or racial differences. Ethnic separatist movements were relevant since they represented historical delineations between states, or in recent times, were the cause of conflicts between peoples in Europe, Africa and Asia with different ethnic/linguistic origins.
The term professional–managerial class (PMC) refers to a social class within capitalism that, by controlling production processes through occupying a superior management position, is neither proletarian nor bourgeoisie. Metropolitan elite is a term used to describe politically liberal people whose education has traditionally opened the doors to affluence, wealth and power and who form a managerial elite. The proletariat (/ˌproʊlɪˈtɛəriət/; from Latin proletarius 'producing offspring') is the social class of wage-earners, those members of a society whose possession of significant economic value is their labour power (their capacity to work).[1] A member of such a class is a proletarian or a proletaire. Marxist philosophy regards the proletariat under conditions of capitalism as an exploited class[2] forced to accept meager wages in return for operating the means of production, which belong to the class of business owners, the bourgeoisie.

Religion: Urban shamanism distinguishes traditional shamanism found in indigenous societies from Western adaptations that draw on contemporary and modern roots. Urban shamanism is practiced primarily by people who do not originate in a traditional indigenous society and who create unique methods that do not follow or claim authenticity in any prior tradition. Urban shamanism traces its beginnings to efforts by Westerners to come to terms with psychoactive plant experiences using their own modern frames of cultural reference influenced by, but outside of, the indigenous rites in which plant medicine is traditionally based. The related terms digital shamanism and digital psychedelia are schools of thought born out of the convergence of technological changes, art movements, and Eastern philosophies during the late 20th century. Metropolitan Elite is a term used to describe politically liberal people whose education has traditionally opened the doors to affluence, wealth and power and who form a managerial elite. The Spiritual Baptist faith is a religion created by persons of African ancestry in the plantations they came to in the former British West Indies countries predominantly in the islands of a Grenada, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Tobago and the Virgin Islands. It is syncretic Afro-Caribbean religion that combines elements of the many varied traditional African religions brought by the enslaved populations combined with Christianity. Spiritual Baptists consider themselves to be Christians. "The religious practice involves a music-centered worship service, in which collective singing and drumming accompany spirit possession and animal sacrifice (typically goats, sheep, and fowl)." Trinidad Orisha practice involves call-and-response singing accompanied by a trio of drums. Men can wear a headwrap however the very top of the head is usually left uncovered. Clientelism or client politics is the exchange of goods and services for political support, often involving an implicit or explicit quid-pro-quo.[1][2][3] It is closely related to patronage politics and vote buying.[4]
Sin Stock Investment Trust: Pay a minimum of 90% of their taxable income to their shareholders through dividends; Arms, Tobacco, Pharmaceuticals, Entertainment District Rental Properties, and Sports Betting. (Piccadilly Circus as an Example) Lastly, maritime corruption may be categorized according to various fraud scenarios,[8] such as: under-invoicing, where the merchandise in question is declared of lower value than the actual sale price in the invoice, bribes paid to gain contracts, where large shipping and commercial vessel companies bid for long term contracts from large exporters, illicit payments to marine surveyors, so that the surveyor is paid illegally in order to give a better review of the inspected vessel, facilitation payments to customs officers, where bribes are paid to officers to ensure smooth customs procedures and to turn a blind eye to certain procedural requirements, and illegal purchase of letters of credit, where payment is promised for certain documents which validate that goods have been delivered as required.

Shango is the practice of the Trinidad Orisha religion. In Trinidad, Orisha is also called Shango, and the term "Shango Baptist" is sometimes used to describe worshipers who are involved with both Spiritual Baptism and Orisha/Shango. The term "Shango Baptist" has come to have negative connotations for some worshippers of both Spiritual Baptism and Orisha/Shango, who argue that those who say "Shango Baptist" conflate the two religions, when in fact they are completely separate religions. As some have said, "There is no thing as Shango Baptist. Shango is Shango. Baptist is Baptist".[7] Others say that Shango Baptists simply "wear two hats"; their mixture of "Baptist and Orisha practices" is a result of similar oppression by colonial authorities in Trinidad.[8]; In practice, the Trinidad Orisha religion is not connected with the Spiritual Baptisms. Orisha worship services are not similar to and not held at the same locations as Spiritual Baptist churches.[9]; Trinidad Orisha practice involves call-and-response singing accompanied by a trio of drums.; "The religious practice involves a music-centered worship service, in which collective singing and drumming accompany spirit possession and animal sacrifice (Duck)."[3]; Donna P. Hope defines dancehall culture as a "space for the cultural creation and dissemination of symbols and ideologies that reflect the lived realities of its adherents, particularly those from the inner cities of Jamaica."[40] Dancehall culture actively creates a space for its "affectors" (creators of dancehall culture) and its "affectees" (consumers of dancehall culture) to take control of their own representation, contest conventional relationships of power, and exercise some level of cultural, social and even political autonomy.; Such a drastic change in the popular music of the region generated an equally radical transformation in fashion trends, specifically those of its female faction. In lieu of traditional, modest "rootsy" styles, as dictated by Rastafari-inspired gender roles; women began donning flashy, revealing – sometimes X-rated outfits. This transformation is said to coincide with the influx of slack lyrics within dancehall, which objectified women as apparatuses of pleasure. These women would team up with others to form "modeling posses", or "dancehall model" groups, and informally compete with their rivals.; This newfound materialism and conspicuity was not, however, exclusive to women or manner of dress. Appearance at dance halls was exceedingly important to acceptance by peers and encompassed everything from clothing and jewelry, to the types of vehicles driven, to the sizes of each respective gang or "crew", and was equally important to both sexes.; Remake ten of the major cultural imperatives or principles that constitute the dancehall worldview.

Linguistics Arts (Fusion Language of Igbo as a Culture Planning Language for Onye Nche Patois; Phrasal Verbs; Noun Groups; Vowel Harmony): Originally, Patois was used to refer to non-standard varieties of French, used by peasants in France. Mid 17th century French, Patois meant ‘rough speech’. The word is usually associated with low status in comparison with the standard language of society. Especially in the Anglophone Caribbean region , the name Patois have been associated with French Creole dialects. Speakers of 17th and 18th French, came in contact with speakers of Yoruba, Ewe, Wolof, Igbo and Twi among various other West African languages. Between 350 BC and 150 AD, the expansion of the Empire, together with its administrative and educational policies, made Latin the dominant native language in continental Western Europe. Latin also exerted a strong influence in southeastern Britain, the Roman province of Africa**, western Germany, Pannonia and the whole Balkans.[25] The Romance languages, also known as the Latin[1] or Neo-Latin[2] languages, are the languages that are directly descended from Vulgar Latin.[3] They are the only extant subgroup of the Italic branch of the Indo-European language family. Fusional languages or inflected languages are a type of synthetic language, distinguished from agglutinative languages by their tendency to use single inflectional morphemes to denote multiple grammatical, syntactic, or semantic features. In linguistics, agglutination is a morphological process in which words are formed by stringing together morphemes, each of which corresponds to a single syntactic feature. Languages that use agglutination widely are called agglutinative languages. For example, in the agglutinative language of Turkish, the word evlerinizden ("from your houses") consists of the morphemes ev-ler-i-n-iz-den. Agglutinative languages are often contrasted with isolating languages, in which words are monomorphemic, and fusional languages, in which words can be complex, but morphemes may correspond to multiple features. In phonology, vowel harmony is a phonological rule in which the vowels of a given domain – typically a phonological word – must share certain distinctive features (thus "in harmony"). Vowel harmony is typically long distance, meaning that the affected vowels do not need to be immediately adjacent, and there can be intervening segments between the affected vowels. Generally one vowel will trigger a shift in other vowels, either progressively or regressively, within the domain, such that the affected vowels match the relevant feature of the trigger vowel. Common phonological features that define the natural classes of vowels involved in vowel harmony include vowel backness, vowel height, nasalization, roundedness, and advanced and retracted tongue root. Vowel harmony is found in many agglutinative languages. The given domain of vowel harmony taking effect often spans across morpheme boundaries, and suffixes and prefixes will usually follow vowel harmony rules. Art teaches communication by providing another way of portraying feelings, ideas, and arguments to an audience besides words. Also, it asks viewers to relate symbols and other abstract connections together to interpret a meaning from imagery. A noun group is a group of words relating to, or building on, a noun. Noun groups usually begin with an article (the, a, an) or determiner (this, that, these, those, my, your, his, her, its, our). It may have more than one adjective. 'The run-down old inner-city terrace house is for sale'. A phrasal verb is made up of a verb – usually a very common one, like 'make' – and a particle, like 'up'. Some phrasal verbs have two particles, for example put up with. The particle usually changes the meaning of the verb. Phrasal verbs look easy … after all, they're just a common verb followed by another little word. Often people don't even realise they need special attention. So what do you need to know about them? Here are some of the challenges.

The music was often related to national culture. It was culturally particular; from a particular region or culture. In the context of an immigrant group, folk music acquires an extra dimension for social cohesion. It is particularly conspicuous in immigrant societies, where Greek Australians, Somali Americans, Punjabi Canadians, and others strive to emphasize their cultural identity. They learn songs and dances that originate in the countries their grandparents came from. Fusion of cultures: Because cultures interact and change over time, traditional songs evolving over time may incorporate and reflect influences from disparate cultures. The relevant factors may include instrumentation, tunings, voicings, phrasing, subject matter, and even production methods. Trap Lyrics but based on National Customs so a Latino in Miami vs Jamaicans in Miami. In folk music a tune-family is, "a seeming multiplicity of melodies," reducible, "to a small number of 'models' or sets." One can think of the models or sets as deep structures. Often, "different tunes are the same," and, "the same tune is different."[1] Idiolectical (individual) or dialectical (based on context or on locale) variations may exist. Different families may also arise from the use of stock structures or of formulae such as stock phrases and motifs. In folk music, a tune is a short instrumental piece, a melody, often with repeating sections, and usually played a number of times.[15] A collection of tunes with structural similarities is known as a tune-family. America's Musical Landscape says "the most common form for tunes in folk music is AABB, also known as binary form."[16][page needed] In some traditions, tunes may be strung together in medleys or "sets."[17] Look up Romans 8 for Trap Religious Music. Encomium (pl.: encomia) is a Latin word deriving from the Ancient Greek enkomion (ἐγκώμιον), meaning "the praise of a person or thing."[1] Another Latin equivalent is laudatio, a speech in praise of someone or something.
Encomium also refers to several distinct aspects of rhetoric:
A general category of oratory
A method within rhetorical pedagogy
A figure of speech praising a person or thing, but occurring on a smaller scale than an entire speech
The eighth exercise in the progymnasmata series
A literary genre that included five elements: prologue, birth and upbringing, acts of the person's life, comparisons used to praise the subject, and an epilogue[citation needed]
The basilikos logos (imperial encomium), a formal genre in the Byzantine empire
In Byzantine rhetoric, a basilikos logos (Greek: βασιλικòς λόγος, literally "imperial word") or logos eis ton autokratora ("speech to the emperor") is an encomium addressed to an emperor on an important occasion, regularly at Epiphany.[1]
The parameters of the genre were first set out in a treatise attributed to Menander Rhetor of the late 3rd century. The encomiast should praise the emperor's origins, his physical beauty, his upbringing, good habits, feats in peace and victories in war, philanthropy, good fortune and practice of the four cardinal virtues. He identified the presbeutikos, a speech of supplication given by a city to an emperor, as a subgenre of the basilikos logos. The panegyric of Constantine the Great delivered by Eusebius of Caesaria established a new convention of depicting the ideal emperor rather than the actual. The Christian basilikoi logoi dropped references to good fortune (tyche) in favour of piety. The term presbeutikos also shifted in meaning to refer to an ambassador's report.[1]
The delivery of a basilikos logos could be used as an occasion to subtly advise the emperor, becoming a sort of "mirror of princes". This is the form it took when Agapetos praised Justinian I (6th century) and when Basil I his son Leo VI (9th century). The surviving biography of the Empress Theodora (9th century) may originate in a basilikos logos addressed to her during her regency.[2] John the Oxite wrote and presumably delivered an unconventional logos that was highly critical of the policies of Alexios I Komnenos (11th century).[3] Michael Italikos (12th century) wrote a logos for the Emperor John II Komnenos based primarily on his deeds and another for Manuel I Komnenos that was more conventional.[1]

Boxing Gym Culture (Surf Culture Reengineering)
Surf culture includes the people, language, fashion, and lifestyle surrounding the sport of surfing. The history of surfing began with the ancient Polynesians. That initial culture directly influenced modern surfing, which began to flourish and evolve in the early 20th century, with its popularity peaking during the 1950s and 1960s (principally in Hawaii, Australia, and California). It has affected music, fashion, literature, film, art, and youth jargon in popular culture. The number of surfers throughout the world continues to increase as the culture spreads. Surfer Magazine was founded in the 1960s when surfing had gained popularity and was the initial voice for surf culture which included environmental activism. Localism or territorialism is a part of the development of surf culture in which individuals or groups of surfers claim certain key surfing spots as their own. Since ancient times among the Native Hawaiians, the appointed kahuna (priest) laid an offering of fish, said prayers, and performed other religious rites by a tree before it was felled to make a surfboard.[12] The ancient Hawaiians believed that the trees they made their surfboards (papa heʻe nalu) from had souls (ʻuhane),[22][23] and used the trunks of koa trees to build them. Their pae poʻo (bodyboards)[24][note 1] as well as kikoʻo and alaia surfboards were made from koa; however, olo, the longest and heaviest surfboards, were made from the lighter and more buoyant wood of the wiliwili, and were used exclusively by the nobility.[25] Heiaus are Hawaiian places of worship where sacrifices were offered, they include actual temples as well as natural objects or features of the landscape. Every activity in Hawaiian culture was associated with a cult devoted to a deity or the activity itself, such as surfing. [26][27] When the ocean was calm and there were no waves to surf, the kahuna lashed the surface of the sea with long strands of beach morning glory (pohuehue) vines and chanted, in unison with the surfers.

Piccadilly Circus is a road junction and public space of London's West End in the City of Westminster. It was built in 1819 to connect Regent Street with Piccadilly. In this context, a circus, from the Latin word meaning "circle", is a round open space at a street junction.[1]: A street can often serve as the catalyst for the neighborhood's prosperity, culture and solidarity.

This article is an examination of the political and social history of opiates, opiates as antipsychotics, "drug of choice" as a determinant of self-medication, and the connection between creativity, spirituality, psychosis and addiction. Using clinical observation, the article explores the poet syndrome hypothesis and offers direction for an alternative drug treatment paradigm. Personality disorders and particularly antisocial personality disorders (APD) are quite frequent in opioid-dependent subjects. They show various personality traits: high neuroticism, high impulsivity, higher extraversion than the general population. Previous studies have reported that some but not all personality traits improved with treatment. In a previous study, we found a low rate of APD in a French population of opioid-dependent subjects. For this reason, we evaluated personality traits at intake and during maintenance treatment with methadone. Methods - The form A of the Eysenck Personality Inventory (EPI) was given to opioid addicts at intake and after 6 and 12 months of methadone treatment. Results - 134 subjects (96 males and 38 females) took the test at intake, 60 completed 12 months of treatment. After 12 months, the EPI Neuroticism (N) and the Extraversion-introversion (E) scale scores decreased significantly. The N score improved in the first 6 months, while the E score improved only during the second 6 months of treatment. Compared to a reference group of French normal controls, male and female opioid addicts showed high N and E scores. Demographic data and EPI scores of patients who stayed in treatment for 12 months did not differ significantly from those of dropouts (n=23). Patients with a history of suicide attempts (SA) started to use heroin at an earlier age and they showed a higher E score and a tendency for a higher N score at intake. Discussion - The two personality dimensions of the EPI changed during MMT, and the N score converged towards the score of normal controls. Opioid addicts differ from normal controls mostly in their N score. The EPI did not help to differentiate 12-month completers from dropouts. Higher E scores in patients with an SA history might reflect a higher impulsivity, which has been linked to suicidality in other patient groups.
Region: Port Tuxôn; Bas-Sassandra District (French: District du Bas-Sassandra; [ba.sa.sɑ̃d.ʁa], "Lower Sassandra") is one of fourteen administrative districts of Ivory Coast. The district is located in the southwest part of the country. The capital of the district is San-Pédro. The district was created in a 2011 administrative reorganisation of the subdivisions of Ivory Coast.[3] Its territory is composed of the former region of Bas-Sassandra with the addition of the department of Fresco, which was transferred from the region of Sud-Bandama.[4] Yonge–Dundas Square, or Dundas Square is a public square at the southeast corner of the intersection of Yonge Street and Dundas Street East in Downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Designed by Brown and Storey Architects, the square was conceived in 1997 as part of revitalizing the intersection.[2][3] Since its completion in 2002, the square has hosted many public events, performances and art displays, establishing itself as a prominent landmark in Toronto and one of the city's prime tourist attractions. Central to the Downtown Yonge entertainment and shopping district, the square is owned by the city and is the first public square in Canada to be maintained through a public–private partnership.[4] The intersection is one of the busiest in Canada, with over 100,000 people crossing the city's first pedestrian scramble daily.[5][6][7] Surrounding the square are other major landmarks, including the Toronto Eaton Centre, Ed Mirvish Theatre, and the Citytv building. The square is accessible from the Toronto subway at Dundas station and is connected to Path, Toronto's underground pedestrian walkway. The square is continuously illuminated by large billboard screens and corporate logos, which has led to comparison of the square with Times Square in New York City, Shibuya Crossing in Tokyo, and Piccadilly Circus in London.[8][9] A marina (from Spanish [maˈɾina], Portuguese [mɐˈɾinɐ] and Italian [maˈriːna]: "related to the sea") is a dock or basin with moorings and supplies for yachts and small boats. A marina differs from a port in that a marina does not handle large passenger ships or cargo from freighters. Marine architecture is the design of architectural and engineering structures which support coastal design, near-shore and off-shore or deep-water planning for many projects such as shipyards, ship transport, coastal management or other marine and/or hydroscape activities. These structures include harbors, lighthouses, marinas, oil platforms, offshore drillings, accommodation platforms and offshore wind farms, floating engineering structures and building architectures or civil seascape developments. Floating structures in deep water may use suction caisson for anchoring.[1][2][3][4][5]

Trafalgar Square (/trəˈfælɡər/ trə-FAL-gər) is a public square in the City of Westminster, Central London, established in the early 19th century around the area formerly known as Charing Cross. The square's name commemorates the Battle of Trafalgar, the British naval victory in the Napoleonic Wars over France and Spain that took place on 21 October 1805 off the coast of Cape Trafalgar. The Monte Carlo Casino, officially named Casino de Monte-Carlo, is a gambling and entertainment complex located in Monaco. It includes a casino, the Opéra de Monte-Carlo, and the office of Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo.[1]

S-1 TALK
Laws of Power, Strategies of War, and Laws of Human Nature By Robert Greene
Law 1: Never Outshine the Master: Ensure that those above you always feel superior. Go out of your way to make your bosses look better and feel smarter than anyone else. Everyone is insecure, but an insecure boss can retaliate more strongly than others can.
Law 2: Never Put too Much Trust in Friends, Learn How to Use Enemies: Keep a close eye on your friends — they get envious and will undermine you. If you co-opt an enemy, he’ll be more loyal than a friend because he’ll try harder to prove himself worthy of your trust.
Strategy 1: Do Not Fight the Last War: The Guerrilla-War-of-the-Mind Strategy: What most often weighs you down and brings you misery is the past, in the form of unnecessary attachments, repetitions of tired formulas, and the memory of old victories and defeats. You must consciously wage war against the past and force yourself to react to the present moment. Never take it for granted that your past successes will continue into the future.
Strategy 2: Segment Your Forces: The Controlled-Chaos Strategy; Speed and adaptability are critical elements in war, and come from flexible organization. Decentralize your army, segment into teams, and let go a little to gain mobility. Give your different corps clear missions that fit your strategic goals, then let them accomplish them as they see fit.
Law #3: People Can Be Influenced: We all need our self-image confirmed because we know it’s not always objectively accurate. We tend to like and listen to the people who validate us.
Law #4: People Wear Masks: We all display a persona, or a mask, that pumps up our positive qualities and shows ourselves in the best light. However, it’s not always easy to hide our true natures—while we have good control of our words, we don’t always have good control of our body language and nonverbal cues
Law #8: People’s Individuality Is Overpowered by Groups: When we’re in groups, everyone else’s emotions affect us and potentially provoke us into doing things we wouldn’t do alone.
Law #9: People Are Influenced by Their Generation: Everyone belongs to at least one group—their generation. Generational values are shaped by world events that took place during the generation’s coming-of-age years and the inevitable conflict with other generations.
Instrumental aggression refers to aggressive behavior meant to achieve a specific goal. Unlike other types of aggression, the behavior is not due to anger or other emotion but rather a calculated means to an end. Instrumental aggression is similar to bullying but with a specific, manipulative purpose.

A business cluster is a geographic concentration of interconnected businesses, suppliers, and associated institutions in a particular field. Clusters are considered to increase the productivity with which companies can compete, nationally and globally. Accounting is a part of the business cluster.[1][2] In urban studies, the term agglomeration is used.[3] Clusters are also important aspects of strategic management. Geographical cluster – as stated above e.g. the California wine cluster[12] or the flower cluster between Rotterdam and Amsterdam in the Netherlands.[13] Sectoral clusters (a cluster of businesses operating together from within the same commercial sector e.g. marine (south east England; Cowes and now Solent) and photonics (Aston Science Park, Birmingham)) Horizontal cluster (interconnections between businesses at a sharing of resources level e.g. knowledge management, machinery, lab and test tools, material supply, professional employment) Factor endowment clusters – They are created because a comparative advantage they might have linked to a geographical position. For example, wine production clusters because of sunny regions surrounded by mountains, where good grapes can grow. This is like certain areas in France such as Burgundy and Champagne, as well as Lombardy, Spain, Chile and California. Low-cost manufacturing clusters – These clusters have typically emerged in developing countries within particular industries, such as automotive production, electronics, or textiles. Examples include electronics clusters in Mexico (e.g. Guadalajara) and Argentina (e.g. Córdoba). Cluster firms typically serve clients in developed countries. Drivers of cluster emergence include availability of low-cost labor, geographical proximity to clients (e.g. in the case of Mexico for U.S. clients; Eastern Europe for Western European clients).[17] Hubs and nodes is a geographic model explaining how linked regions can cooperate to fulfill elements of an industry's value chain and collectively gain sufficient mass to drive innovation growth. In economics, a network effect (also called network externality or demand-side economies of scale) is the phenomenon by which the value or utility a user derives from a good or service depends on the number of users of compatible products. The model of hubs and nodes builds on Porter's cluster model which served well in the past, but as businesses and regions around the world have adjusted to the realities of globalization, the concept of clusters is becoming outdated. In the late 1990s, the Seoul Metropolitan Government in South Korea developed the Digital Media City (DMC), a 135-acre complex, four miles outside of the city's central business district in the Sangam-dong district. With Seoul's rapidly growing cluster of multi-media, IT, and entertainment industries, the Digital Media City, through its vibrant agglomeration, helped to promote these industries and companies whose core business required use of information, communication, and media technologies. DMC grew and prospered as a global business environment, raising Seoul as an east-Asian hub of commerce. The cluster of its digital media-related, high-tech firms spawned partnerships which in turn leveraged both human and social capital in the area. Eventually, DMC fed the innovation of more than 10,000 small-scale Internet, game, and telecommunication firms located in Seoul.[20]

Bodyline, also known as fast leg theory bowling, was a cricketing tactic devised by the English cricket team for their 1932–33 Ashes tour of Australia. It was designed to combat the extraordinary batting skill of Australia's leading batsman, Don Bradman. A bodyline delivery was one in which the cricket ball was bowled at pace, aimed at the body of the batsman in the expectation that when he defended himself with his bat, a resulting deflection could be caught by one of several fielders deliberately placed nearby on the leg side.

PROGRAM
Stroke Play: Vertical-bat or straight-bat shots can be played off either the front foot or the back foot depending upon the anticipated height of the ball at the moment it reaches the batter. The characteristic position of the bat is a vertical alignment at the point of contact. Vertical-bat shots are typically played with the batter's head directly above the point of contact so he is able to accurately judge the line of the ball. At this point, the bat can either be stationary and facing straight back down the wicket – known as a block or defensive shot; angled to one side – known as a glance or deflection; or travelling forwards towards the bowler – known as a drive.
Googly Bowling: Swing bowling is a technique used for bowling in the sport of cricket. Practitioners are known as swing bowlers. Swing bowling is generally classed as a subtype of fast bowling. In cricket, a dismissal occurs when a batter's innings is brought to an end by the opposing team. Other terms used are the batter being out, the batting side losing a wicket, and the fielding side taking a wicket. The ball becomes dead (meaning that no further runs can be scored off that delivery), and the dismissed batter must leave the field of play for the rest of their team's innings, to be replaced by a team-mate. A team's innings ends if ten of the eleven team members are dismissed. Players bat in pairs so, when only one batter remains who can be not out, it is not possible for the team to bat any longer. This is known as dismissing or bowling out the batting team, who are said to be all out. To grip the ball for a leg-spinning delivery, the ball is placed into the palm with the seam parallel to the palm. The first two fingers then spread and grip the ball, and the third and fourth fingers close together and rest against the side of the ball. The first bend of the third finger should grasp the seam. The thumb resting against the side is up to the bowler, but should impart no pressure. When the ball is bowled, the third finger will apply most of the spin. The wrist is cocked as it comes down by the hip, and the wrist moves sharply from right to left as the ball is released, adding more spin. The ball is tossed up to provide flight. The batter will see the back of the hand when the ball is released. An alternative grip is to hold the ball in the thumb, index finger and middle finger. The finger-print of both the thumb and index finger rest on the seam, as does the first bend of the middle finger. Together with rotation of the wrist, the index and middle fingers are involved in imparting spin on the ball and can achieve a very high number of revolutions.

Bancassurance is a relationship between a bank and an insurance company[1] that is aimed at offering insurance products or insurance benefits to the bank's customers. In this partnership, bank staff and tellers become the point of sale and point of contact for the customer. Bank staff are advised and supported by the insurance company through wholesale product information, marketing campaigns and sales training. The bank and the insurance company share the commission. Insurance policies are processed and administered by the insurance company.
The staple right, also translated stacking right or storage right, both from the Dutch stapelrecht, was a medieval right accorded to certain ports, the staple ports. It required merchant barges or ships to unload their goods at the port and to display them for sale for a certain period, often three days. Only after that option had been given to local customers were traders allowed to reload their cargo and travel onwards with the remaining unsold freight.[1][2]
Gross national product accounts for its citizen’s productions both within and outside its borders. This figure then subtracts income earned by foreign residents within the country. By contrast, gross domestic product measures the production of goods and services made within a country’s borders by both citizens and foreign residents overall.

Subsistence Cashew: Subsistence agriculture occurs when farmers grow food crops to meet the needs of themselves and their families on smallholdings. Subsistence agriculturalists target farm output for survival and for mostly local requirements, with little or no surplus. The Anacardiaceae, commonly known as the cashew family[1] or sumac family, are a family of flowering plants, including about 83 genera with about 860 known species.[2] Members of the Anacardiaceae bear fruits that are drupes and in some cases produce urushiol, an irritant. The Anacardiaceae include numerous genera, several of which are economically important, notably cashew (in the type genus Anacardium), mango, Chinese lacquer tree, yellow mombin, Peruvian pepper, poison ivy, poison oak, sumac, smoke tree, marula and cuachalalate. The genus Pistacia (which includes the pistachio and mastic tree) is now included, but was previously placed in its own family, the Pistaciaceae.[3]

FOREIGN DIRECT INTERVENTION (GUERILLA NAVY INFRASTRUCTURE)
A navy, naval force, military maritime fleet, war navy, or maritime force is the branch of a nation's armed forces principally designated for naval and amphibious warfare; namely, lake-borne, riverine, littoral, or ocean-borne combat operations and related functions. It includes anything conducted by surface ships, amphibious ships, submarines, and seaborne aviation, as well as ancillary support, communications, training, and other fields.
The strategic offensive role of a navy is projection of force into areas beyond a country's shores (for example, to protect sea-lanes, deter or confront piracy, ferry troops, or attack other navies, ports, or shore installations). The strategic defensive purpose of a navy is to frustrate seaborne projection-of-force by enemies. The strategic task of the navy also may incorporate nuclear deterrence by use of submarine-launched ballistic missiles. Naval operations can be broadly divided between riverine and littoral applications (brown-water navy),
Naval operations can be broadly divided between riverine and littoral applications (brown-water navy), open-ocean applications (blue-water navy), and something in between (green-water navy), although these distinctions are more about strategic scope than tactical or operational division.

Cash crops are agricultural crops that are planted for the purpose of selling on the market or for export to make profit, as distinguished from subsistence crops planted for the purpose of self-supply of the farmer (like livestock feeding or food for the family).
A commodity index is an index that tracks the price and returns on a basket of commodities. These indexes are often accessible for investing through mutual funds or exchange traded funds (ETFs). Many investors who want access to the commodities market without entering the futures market decide to invest in commodity index funds.
A de facto currency is a unit of money that is not legal tender in a country but is treated as such by most of the populace. The United States dollar and the European Union euro are the most common de facto currencies.
The franc was the currency of Martinique until 2002.

Only God Was Above Us is jam packed with political metaphors and calling out the institutions in place and putting truths above all else, and WOW, it's poignant. It's the perfect blend of nostalgic kick drums and strings, of traditional choirs and piano solos and Indian trap and 90s hip hop. I cried when they sampled Mansard Roof. I cried when they referenced Diane Young. I sobbed when I realized how the singles fit into the bigger picture of the album's themes of class division and anti-imperialism and creating and sharing art. Sometimes you just need someone to give you permission to let go of the things that are out of your control and put your hope into things you can actually change. Sometimes you need music to give a voice to the emotions that are too hard to articulate. What a triumph in every sense of the word. I am broken and pieced back together all at once. Thank you, Vampire Weekend.

Scoops Ahoy | A Trapped Prequel | Eddie Munson
Master List | Part 1
Pairing: Eddie Munson x Reader
Word Count: 3.1k
Authors note: Here is a prequel to Trapped, Reader is working with Robin and Steve at Scoops Ahoy and they find out about her crush on Eddie. All wholesome vibes
Shit shit shit, you scrambled to lock your car door as your feet nearly tripped over themselves to get to work on time. It was a useless waste of energy, seeing as your watch already told you that you were five minutes late. Dodging through the busy crowds of StarCourt didn’t make the trip any easier, your feet scraping against the floor.
As you finally hit the ice cream shop a resounding “You’re late!” comes from the back from your co worker.
“I know!” You groan, your backpack juggling as you jog to swipe your card.
The shop was partially busy, a few groups of teenagers giggling their way through their single scoops of ice cream. Robin perks her head into view, organizing the stock. You give her a curt smile, not having known her very well, yet. Things were certainly less awkward with Steve around, but the shop owner rarely had the three of you all working the same shift. In today’s case Robin was opening, Steve was closing.
Only two more hours until he came in.
“Can you work front counter for now? My patience with these toddlers has vanished.” Robin pleads with you, and you had to admit, she did seem more worn out than normal. She leans forward to you. “One of them threw ice cream onto the wall. Took me ten minutes to clean it up.”
You nod, placing the stupid hat on.
The sounds of a group of teenagers making their way in. You sigh, turning to face them. “Hi guys, how can I help you?”
Samples. Of course, they wanted samples.
Typical.
-
“You know what I’ve noticed?” Robin asks you out of nowhere as you start to replace a tub of one of the flavours.
“Hmm?” You ask, placing the old flavour on the floor.
She flips through a magazine, barely paying attention to the actual words. “While Harrington strikes out over and over, you haven’t hit on anyone.” She tells you, her eyebrows furrowed as she glances to you.
“Okay. And?” You ask, putting the new tub in with a resounding thud.
“So, what’s the deal? Cause unlike him, you’ve been hit on.”
You sigh, your eyes fleeting to him. He sits in the food court, waiting, playing with a lighter in his hands absentmindedly. His forearm was red, still healing from the bats he had just gotten two weeks ago.
You knew it was two weeks ago because you had clocked the day he wondered through the food court with saran wrap around it.
You cleared your throat, barely managing to climb out of the rabbit hole you find yourself falling deeper into by the day.
“Pssht.” You dismiss her, squinting your eyes in response. “No one is hitting on me. Are you even paying attention?”
“Are you? Cause Tommy? All over you.” She answered, her eyes on the page in front of her.
“What? Tommy Hagan hasn’t even come in here.” You argue, pointedly proving her wrong.
“No, not douchebag Tommy! Tommy Miller! You know, total non jerk wad, plays on the basketball team…ring a bell?” Now that she mentions it, you did remember serving him some Rocky Road earlier. If he did flirt with you, you were too distracted to even pay attention to Tommy’s loitering at the register.
“Not really.” You tell her, and you pick up the empty tub to bring it to the trash.
“Oh, you have a boyfriend, or something?” Robin asks as you reach face to face with her in the back.
You sigh, crossing your arms and leaning onto a table right next to you. You hesitate in your answer, but you had a feeling she wouldn’t let go so easily. “Or something.”
“Oooh, so you like someone!” She lights up, drumming on the tabletop. “Who?”
You walk away from the conversation, your heart beating out of your chest. How is the new coworker the person who finds out about him first? “He doesn’t come in the ice cream shop.” You tell her, your eyes flickering to him talking to one of the jocks. It’s always a blink and you miss it exchange, and he has the movements mastered so no one picks it up. Another deal done.
“But he hangs in the mall.” Robin deducts, following closely behind you.
“Possibly.”
“Oooh.” She grins, leaning forward onto her elbows and glancing passed the glass doors toward the mall’s crowd through the window. “Any hints?”
“Nope.”
“How long have you liked them, like a week?” She asks.
“Longer.”
She squints, leaning into you. “How much longer?”
You walk away from her, starting to pick up the trash on the tables. “Just, longer.” You tell her, working around a table of an elderly couple working slowly on their cones.
“I see.”
You continue to clean the lobby, attempting to calm your heart. You glance outside again, and he’s nowhere to be seen. Oh, well he’d be back every fifteen minutes, like clockwork.
The trash is thrown out and you grab a sanitizing cloth, wiping down the Mint Chocolate Chip somehow splattered in between the seats. You look up while you work, annoyed at the elbow grease that is being required of you. Wasn’t this job supposed to be easy?
As a bead of sweat drips down your forehead, annoyed as shit You get up, barely paying attention to where you were walking when Eddie passes by the store, and your big toe collides with a chair when the passing hope of him finally making his way through the doors.
You lean forward, resting your hands against the table you stumbled into and attempting to control your breathing when you hear Robin.
“Holy shit.”
Fuck. “No. Wait. It’s not what you think.”
“So, it’s not Eddie Munson? Because that was not just a trip and stumble.”
“Fine, it is. But just let it go, ok?”
“Hey, why would I judge?” She says, putting her hands up to surrender. “You never hit anyone, and now I know why. You’re clearly into him.”
“Into who?” Steve comes from the back, having taken the secret tunnels as always.
“No one.” You tell him, giving a look to Robin.
Robin silently begs you, giving you some wide eyes as her hands plead. You shake your head at her, daring her to say something.
“Alright, whatever. Did you manage to clean out the freezer like Frank asked us to?” Steve asks, swinging his arms absentmindedly.
You brush passed him, placing the cloth still in your hands into the soiled cloths bucket. “’Fraid not, Buckley insists upon harassing me today.”
Robin smiles, a piece of information she can hold over Steve in her arsenal.
“Well, I’m gonna do the front counter. How bout you two get us caught up on the freezer?” You offer, trying to get away from them both.
“Of course, he might come in, after all.” Robin whispers under her breath, and you give her a death glare as she giggles and walks into the freezer.
“Did I miss—” Steve starts, and the both of you walk a way before he even has a chance to finish it. Steve looks up to the sky, exasperated. He literally just started his shift.
-
As much as Steve tried to pry what he had missed out of Robin, she gave nothing away. Not even the inkling that you liked someone to begin with. She knew he would find out eventually, after all, you weren’t exactly subtle about it, but she looked forward to the very day.
On one particular hot summer day, Eddie was in the food court before Robin even put out the open sign. She grinned, as she has started to pick up a pattern. If he’s there from morning, it means he’ll be all day.
Somehow Steve still hasn’t picked up on your tendencies to daze off while serving a customer or your slow pace while you mop up a spill during these specific days, but she has a feeling he’ll figure it out quite soon.
As always, her instincts are right.
You finish cashing out a customer, wishing them well as they head out the doors to the shop. You stare off to him, watching him place his long curls into a low bun, his bangs framing his face gorgeously. Somehow just the sight of it made your mouth water.
Pile it with his muscle shirt and his ripped black jeans, it was a wonder you got any work done at all.
God, you wanted to kiss him stupid.
Steve comes from the back from opening the back door for the kids yet again, scaring the living hell out of you. “You’re…a bit spacey today, huh.” He comments, leaning onto his hands on straight arms.
“That’s one word for it.” Robin says, laughing as she cleans one of the tables.
You roll your eyes, swallowing your remarkably dry throat, despite the excess drool in your mouth.
“Ooh.” Steve says as a group of pretty girls come in, bumping you by the hip to move from the cash. Your mouth drops open in bemusement, baffled by the demonstration of his desperation.
You go around him to stock the napkins. Suddenly as clear as clear can be you hear Eddie’s laugh from out the door, and he is right there. You stumble over yourself, losing the metal dispenser to the floor. The breath is stolen from your body, and you hold yourself stable, thinking this cannot be a normal reaction.
Steve witnesses your stumble as he’s scooping, signalling quickly with his eyes to see if you were okay. You smile weakly at him, nodding. Eddie’s full body laugh echoes in your mind, making something in you wish to know what made him laugh so hard.
No matter how dumb it was that he laughed at you had hoped to one day be on the receiving end of it.
You stumble over your feet to shake it out, yanking your dumb hat off as you make your way to the back to catch your breath.
Robin walks over to Steve, who is confused as to why you seemed so off. “Anything?”
“No, just The Freak and her tripping over her own feet.”
“And you think that has nothing to do with…?” She fades off, and she leaves to let Steve think it through.
An hour later, you’re on the front counter again as Steve does a bulk of replacements. You’re assisting another teenager go through every flavour for free samples. She requests a sample of Brownie Fudge, and you completely miss it, Eddie directly in front of the store, chatting as he rests his elbow on the ledge has you unable to breathe.
“Uh, hello?” She asks you, looking at her friends with a sour look on her face.
“Sorry, here you go.” Steve offers, handing it to her.
Steve glances out, again, only seeing Eddie and it all fucking clicks.
“Oh!” He says loudly, jerking his head into position.
“There it is!” Robin calls from the back, sounding outrageously excited.
The girl and her friends are put off by this entire interaction, claiming they’ll eat at DairyWorld, instead.
As soon as they left the store, for once the booths were emptied, Steve cannot hold it in any longer. “You’ve been crushing on Eddie the Freak Munson?” He asks, finally understanding why Robin has been so eager to tell him.
“He’s not a freak,” the sentence left your mouth before you could stop it.
“So, that’s a yes.” Fuck.
“She won’t even talk about it.” Robin commented, leaning on the counter with one hand on her hip.
“Didn’t think he was her type.” Steve says crossing his arms.
“You’re one to talk about type.” Robin huffs out. “You dated Nancy Wheeler of all people, the Priss herself.”
Your eyes widen at the unearned sass given to Nancy’s first and last name. “I’d be careful with that.” Steve warns her.
“Why, cause you dated her?”
“No, cause,” he clicks his tongue, pointing his thumb towards you, “they’ve been friends for years, and their families, even longer.”
“What?”
You shrug, it’s the truth.
Robin seems to get over it quick enough. “I’ve only noticed last week but she won’t tell me how long she’s liked him for.”
“Fine. It’s …” you finish the sentence under your breath, the words coming out jumbled.
“What?”
“Two and a half years…” You say again, just a little louder.
“Huh?”
“Two and a half years. I’ve liked him for two years, okay?”
“Whoa.” Robin gasps, her eyes wide.
Steve lets out a chuckle. “Damn. I liked Nance for about a week until I asked her out.”
“I know it’s pathetic, ok?” You ask, retreating to the back of the shop. They follow you, both rushing to clarify their reactions. “I could do with out the external confirmations, thank you very much.”
“Hello?” Somone calls out from the front counter, waiting to be served.
“In a minute!” Steve barks out. “Honestly, it’s almost endearing.”
“Almost?” You ask him, intrigued by the specification.
“Hey, take what you can get, you stalker.”
“Stalker?”
“How often does he make deals?”
“Every ten to fifteen minutes.”
“See?”
He had you, there.
-
As you punch your card out for your break, Steve is leaning over the counter, absentmindedly reading one of Robin’s magazines and Robin as distractedly restocking. It wasn’t much of a day and despite your numerous peeks, it appears that Eddie wasn’t making an appearance. However your mood rises when you see him regularly, knowing he wasn’t in the mall helped you relax somewhat.
You make your way down the escalator, observing different vendors to decide to eat from. Finally, you pick a spot, somewhere you found yourself floating to on a regular basis.
You stand in line, the line moving agonizingly slow, thinking by the time you will get your order your break will already be mostly done. You only got thirty minutes, after all. You wanted to spend at least five of them off your feet.
You’re now second in line to the register, finding the strength not to be annoyed about how this one customer had decided to order takeout for her whole family and you literally just wanted number 28 for the millionth time.
Your eyes are zoned out on the menu when someone bumps into you from behind, and you turn around to see who the hell you needed to shoot your annoyed glance at when the breath is stolen from your lungs.
Eddie.
“Oh shit, I’m so sorry.” He tells you having bumped into you backwards, a friend of his you presumed from Hellfire standing across from you also offering an apology from pushing him into you.
Your brain begs you to speak, to say something. Nothing will come out. You nod to him, implying it was ok.
Eddie’s face breaks into a half smile, and there’s a moment of what you think is recognition on his face when one of the guys he’s been hanging with calls him over.
“Hello? Next, please!” The food vendor calls you, and you have to turn away from Eddie jogging away from you, your breathing shallow, and your heartbeat in your throat.
You beg yourself to calm down enough to order the food but your appetite has seemed to have mysteriously disappeared.
-
Eddie wasn’t around the mall very much until the following Friday.
In a stroke of luck, according to Steve, at least, all three of you were working that late June afternoon.
For some reason, Eddie was in your head deeper than ever, and the distractions he was providing was causing all too much chaos.
Steve and Robin insist you stay on cash, and you’re sure it’s because you keep fumbling around. Really, it’s because Steve and Robin have been keeping a tally on how many times they catch you staring wistfully at him.
The dopey smile on your face as you watched him made Steve question how he had ever missed it. Robin points to the tally for Steve remaining above yours. “You’re a doofus.”
Just once, you had hoped that he would have a craving for ice cream, but it just didn’t seem to happen. Instead, he galivanted between dealing in the middle of the food court and several areas of the mall. You had a feeling it wouldn’t be the last time you would be stuck watching from afar, and honestly that masochistic part didn’t mind.
As long as you could still see him.
You swiped your card out, ignoring Steve’s teasing as you tossed your backpack over your shoulder, taking the hit.
Something Steve never told you, however, was that five minutes after you walked out that day Eddie stumbled into the store. “Harrington.” Eddie greets, a smirk on his face.
“Munson.”
“I’ve been wanting ice cream for like an hour, so I’ll get a three scoop of Triple Chocolate Chunk.” He hands Steve a 20, and Steve spends too much time internally laughing at the irony of it.
And as Eddie takes his time with the ice cream, enjoying each scoop of the spoon with a little too much fervour, Steve is damn glad you missed it because he would’ve been scraping you off the floor.
When Robin comes in for a mid-shift for once, Steve is all too excited to share the happenings of the previous night. Robin’s eyes widen, and it is understood that neither one of them will tell you, if anything for your own good.
-
“Wait, so you worked at Scoops, at the mall?” Eddie asked one night, sitting across from you on a couch as a movie played in the background.
Your legs are entangled, you eating ice cream out of a Ben&Jerry’s pint. “Yep.”
“Huh.” Eddie laughs without humour.
“What?”
“I never saw you when I went in, only Buckley and Harrington.” He tells you, licking his spoon absentmindedly.
“Wait, what?” You ask, sitting up quickly to get the story straight.
“Yeah. I went in after long days of dealing all the time for some triple chocolate, usually had the whole shop to myself.” Your face must’ve fallen at this, cause he looks to you in concern. “What?”
“I-I just used to watch you when I worked there. I hoped one day you would want some ice cream and it would be my shot at finally saying something to you.” Eddie’s head tilts at this, smiling at you endearingly. “And yet I was never there when you came in. God, that’s ironic. And maddening”
“I mean. Maybe fate wanted to wait until I could lick the ice cream off you instead of the spoon.” He says, his eyes darkening as he licks his silver spoon.
You smirk at him, your mouth watering, and this time, you can give in to the want of kissing him stupid, which is exactly what you did, the cool of the ice cream you continued to eat earning the whimpers out of his mouth and satisfying that girl that once drooled over his exposed neck.

Year-End Poll #65: 2014
[Image description: a collage of photos of the 10 musicians and musical groups featured in this poll. In order from left to right, top to bottom: Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry, John Legend, Iggy Azalea, OneRepublic, Jason Derulo, Magic!, Meghan Trainor, Ariana Grande, Sam Smith. End description]
More information about this blog here
As mentioned in the previous poll, we're now seeing streaming services like Spotify taking over music consumption. Much like how Billboard had to adapt to individual retail sales in the 1950's, MTV rotation in the 1980's, Nielsen SoundScan in the 1990's, and YouTube views in the early 2010's, Spotify streams are now going to be incorporated more into Billboard's charts, with their album charts adapting to this shift in late 2014.
But before we welcome in another chart, 2014 is the year we'll also have to say goodbye to one. It feels like just yesterday we were talking about the rise of the ringtone. But as musical ringtones were starting to fall out of favor in the general public (with streaming people were growing accustomed to no longer having to pay 99 cents for a song -- they weren't going to pay 2 dollars for a snippet of one), Billboard's ringtone charts were retired in 2014, with Taylor Swift's Shake It Off as the final number 1 ringtone in America.
In 2014, we're seeing the continuing rise of retro-inspired production, with the neo soul of Pharrell Williams' Happy, the doo-wop pastiche of Meghan Trainor's All About That Bass, and the funk elements of Ariana Grande's Problem. And with Jason Derulo's Talk Dirty sampling its hook from Balkan Beat Box's Hermetico, it seems like this was a pretty good year for brass samples. Also fun fact about Happy, apparently that song was Pharrell Williams' tenth attempt at writing a song for the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack. Sadly, we will never hear those other 9 versions. Or else I would have put all of them on this poll.
Speaking of musical influence, we're also starting to see trap starting to rise in mainstream popularity. Trap music is a style of rap originating out of the southern hip-hop scene, notable for its 808 drums, snares, and triple-timed hi-hats. The origins of the style can be traced back to the 1990's during the rise of southern rap, with many trap acts coming out of Atlanta and Memphis. In fact one of the guest rappers on today's poll, Juicy J on Katy Perry's Dark Horse, is one of the pioneers of this style with his group, Three 6 Mafia. While Three 6 Mafia is associated with a variety of subgenres (gangster rap, horrorcore, crunk, etc), the trajectory of trap music can often be traced back to them. I don't usually give out homework on these polls, so instead I will just strongly suggest that you check out Mystic Stylez if you haven't already. We'll have to wait a few years until we see the explosive growth of the modern trap movement in the mainstream.

I know that it’s been weeks since my Spotify wrapped but I thought it would be a good idea to talk about my top songs
First track: "Killing in the Name" is a song by the American band Rage Against the Machine, and appears on their 1992 self-titled debut album. It features heavy drop-D guitar riffs. The lyrics protest police brutality, inspired by the beating of Rodney King and the 1992 Los Angeles riots.
The guitarist Tom Morello wrote the riffs while teaching a student drop D tuning; he briefly paused the lesson to record the riff. The band worked on the song the next day. According to Morello, "Killing in the Name" was a collaborative effort, combining his riff with Tim Commerford's "magmalike" bass, Brad Wilk's "funky, brutal" drumming and vocalist Zack de la Rocha's "conviction".Morello recorded his part on a Fender Telecaster.
this song (their signature song btw) combines elements of punk and hip hop and has been described as alternative metal, rap metal, rap rock, hard rock, and proto-nu metal. The journalist Peter Buckley described it as "a howling, expletive-driven tirade against the ills of American society". The song builds in intensity, as de la Rocha chants the line "Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me", building in a crescendo the next four times and aggressively screaming the line the final eight times, culminating with the scream "Motherfucker!" The song contains the word "fuck" 17 times.
The lyrics were inspired by the police brutalitysuffered by Rodney King and the subsequent 1992 Los Angeles riots. The refrain "some of those that work forces are the same that burn crosses" draws a link between the Los Angeles Police Department and the Ku Klux Klan. According to BBC News, "Killing in the Name" protests the military–industrial complex, justifying killing for "the chosen whites".
It’s not a surprise that this song has been on my Spotify wrapped multiple times in the past few years but I never thought it would be number one twice in a row.
second track: "Superhero" is a song by American rock band Jane's Addiction and it’s from their third album Strays . Though not a single, it’s best known for the theme song for HBO original series “Entourage “ (2004-2011)
I’m not a huge fan of Jane addiction but this one slaps hard
third track: “like that” is a song by American rapper Future and record producer Metro Boomin with fellow American rapper Kendrick Lamar . It’s the third and final single from Future and Metro's collaborative studio album, We Don't Trust You, on March 26, 2024. Rodney-O & Joe Cooley are also credited as songwriters as the bass line in the song contains samples of their 1986 song, "Everlasting Bass". "Like That" also has additional elements that contain samples of Eazy-E's 1989 single, "Eazy-Duz-It", and contains a vocal sample of Michel'le.
A trap and hardcore hip hop song that is predominantly composed of lively percussions, "Like That" received acclaim from music critics, who primarily praised Lamar's performance and Metro's production. His verse, which attracted significant media coverage, is a diss aimed at fellow rappers Drake and J. Cole in response to their 2023 collaboration, "First Person Shooter."
Lyrically, Lamar uses his surprise appearance to directly respond to "First Person Shooter", rapping: "Yeah, get up with me, fuck sneak dissing / "First Person Shooter", I hope they came with three switches". He also rejected J. Cole's idea of the three rappers representing hip hop as its "big three" and claims that he alone takes the top spot: "Motherfuck the big three, nigga it's just big me". Throughout his verse, Lamar compares his rivalry with Drake to Prince's reported feud with Michael Jackson ("What? I'm really like that / And your best work is a light pack / Nigga, Prince outlived Mike Jack"). Drake has notably compared himself to Michael Jackson on numerous occasions, including during the final verse of "First Person Shooter", and Lamar has similarly compared himself to Prince. Lamar also makes references to the Click ("Niggas clickin' up, but cannot be legit / No 40 Water") and Stephen King's 1983 novel Pet Sematary("'Fore all your dogs gettin' buried / That's a K with all these nines / He gon' see Pet Sematary").
Lamar verse is the contender for iconic feature verse in a hip hop song of the year and that’s saying something
Fourth track “lights on “ is a song by Canadian singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes from his second studio album Illuminate. This song contains lyrics about lovemaking in a way that is not too racy or overly sexual in nature. Very classy, very demure and mature
fifth track: "Meet the Grahams" (stylized in lowercase as meet the grahams) is a diss track by American rapper Kendrick Lamar. It was released on May 3, 2024, through Interscope Records, during his ongoing feud with Canadian rapper Drake.
The song is written in the form of a letter, with each verse addressed to members of Drake's family, including his son Adonis, his parents Sandra and Dennis Graham, his alleged daughter, and Drake himself.
In the song, Lamar accuses Drake of being an absent father, signing sex offenders to his OVO Sound record label, and being a sexual predator himself. He even goes as far to compare Drake to disgraced Director and movie mogul Harvey Weinstein saying that people like him should die.
He also alleges that Drake is running a sex trafficking ring out of his Toronto mansion, saying it will soon be raided by law enforcement. Lamar further accuses Drake of lying about his family, his OVO Sound labelmates, and Lamar himself.
Produced by the Alchemist, "Meet the Grahams", unlike Lamar's previous responses, takes on an unsettling, haunting atmosphere, with an eerie piano-driven beat, sampled from Timothy Carpenter & Triunity's "I Want To Make It" accompanying critical lyrics accusing Drake of a number of wrongdoings including parental negligence, sexual exploitation, sexual grooming, sex trafficking, and another incident of child abandonment.
I remember when I heard about this track. When I first heard it I knew the moment I heard the opening lyrics “dear Adonis, I’m sorry that man is your father” along with the haunting, unsettling atmosphere of the beat(combined with a eerie piano playing) this is going to be brutal . From beginning to end I was stunned speechless and then I was like oh my gosh. Totally brutal and dark (and the darkest song in the history of my Spotify wrapped ,and that in a world where “we cry together “ featuring Taylor page exists, see my 2022 version of Spotify wrapped) and yet methodical and creative.
