Even the fucking people he grew up with refuse to treat him as his actual gender, fucking LITERALLY snarling at him and chasing him away from the gender-exclusive tasks that he should be able to fucking participate in because he's literally part of that gender.

But no, fucking magic said he has to have a sex change so now everyone just treats him as the gender his body now is even when they've known him since he was fucking born.

And this is just about Chime, this isn't even getting into anything with River's trans-codedness.

This is yet another example of Martha Wells' biological essentialism and equating sex and gender. She fucking accidentally wrote not one, but two trans-coded characters and then treated them both like shit both within the story and in the writing.

I promise it would not be difficult at fucking all to have other Raksura treat Chime (and River!) like shit for being trans and have that behavior be portrayed as bad, yes, even if Moon, the narrator, agrees with the bigots.

You can in fact have bigotry in your story and condemn that bigotry at the same time. It's so fucking easy.

Cosmicqueer is a Queer Stance where one is highly opinionated, aka me. Similar to Critinclus and other such terms. I just wanted a term for my beliefs because I saw some stuff that REALLY annoyed me the other night so here we are.

Cosmisqueer is PRO:

Non-traumagenic systems (aka systems of any kind)

Any "contradictory" or complicated queer identity (within reason, such as Turigirls and Lesboys, Cis Nonbinary Woman/Men, Gaybians, Tulipians, AMAB Transmascs, AFAB Transfems, etc.)

Split Attraction Model, such as Mspec Gay, Mspec Lesbian, Alloaro, Alloace, Alloallo Apl, etc. (Essentially inclusive of any non-rose attraction terms such as Alterous, Queerplatonic, Exteramo, Familial, etc., provided one's form of attraction with those is non-normative.)

Aldernic and Altersex

Terms to describe complicated forms of oppression, such as Exorsexism, Treimisia, and Transandromisia. Cosmisqueer also stands to uplift discussions on general transmisia, transmisogyny, homomisia, amisia, etc. (I personally prefer to use the suffix of misia over phobia.)

I already pretty much ID with a couple queer stances, I just wanted a stance where one's Queer, and feels the word Queer can apply to any non-normative identity relating to gender, orientation, presentation, etc. while feeling Queer is inherently connected to the kink community, and can apply to nonhumans, plurals/systems, non-monoamorous beings, etc. as long as their internal identity affects their external expression in any shape and form, being visibly or socially "non-normative." (Within reason, hence the exclusion of actual harmful identities, actions, stances, etc.)

Essentially using the old definition of Queer to cover "strange" and "odd" identity, and blurring the boundaries between the old use of the word Queer, and the current use of it. Essentially I dislike people reducing Queer to just gender identity and sexual orientation, when Queer has always covered much more than that.

A lot of the discourse I see around proshipping (by antishippers) sounds an awful lot like the rhetoric used to justify why trans women are a threat to kids in public bathrooms.

The transmisia argument: if we allow trans women in bathrooms, then who knows what they'll do to our kids?

The flaw: there are zero cases of trans women harming kids in public bathrooms. There are, however, cases of MAP men dressing as women and harming kids in public bathrooms.

"If we didn't allow trans women in women's bathrooms, then those MAP men couldn't sneak in anyway. People will just assume they're trans!"

Why is it a random trans person's fault that someone else is committing a crime? The trans person just wants to use the bathroom. You plan to punish ALL trans people because some MAPs choose to commit crimes? What the MAPs are doing is already illegal.

The antiship argument: proshippers are MAPs because they're aroused by children, and if left unchecked, will take their arousal with fiction and make it reality. If not, then best case scenario is that they're letting other people think x, y, z is okay.

The flaw: proshippers are people who seek out like-minded people, and they don't engage minors intentionally. Someone who DOES seek out minors intentionally is a MAP. There are MAPs who join the proshipper community in order to get access to the content they want, though, but in the same way that a square (MAP) can be a rectangle (proshipper), a rectangle (proshipper) is not a square (MAP).

Why is it a random proshipper's fault that a MAP is committing a crime, or invading communities they're not wanted in? In the same way that the queer community doesn't want MAPs included in the LGBTQIA+ alphabet, proshippers ALSO don't want MAPs in the proship community.

Regardless of WHY someone is a proshipper (depravity, coping, curiosity, etc.), unless they're ALSO a MAP, they're not INTO KIDS. Let me repeat that: in order to BE a MAP, you have to be attracted to kids. If a proshipper is not attracted to kids, then they're not a MAP.

To be more clear, since this seems to be up for debate for some reason: writing fiction with other consenting people is nothing at all like sexual assault.

As a 25+ roleplayer (and survivor of CSA), I always list that I'll only roleplay sexual scenes with people 25 and up. The reason I do that is because it's extremely unlikely that a 13 year old will write as well as a 25+ person, let alone an 18 year old. It's a way to make sure I'm not writing with children, because I have no interest in them--AND I have no interest in exposing them to my interests.

Now, if I wanted to post something publicly (which is my own business), then anyone is welcome to block me and my content. In the same way that I block any gore posts that I don't want to see. People have different interests. Why do yours have to be respected, but you don't have to return the same courtesy?

Additionally, when I, personally, write younger characters, it's always a secondary roleplay to the main one. The main is usually two consenting adults who knew each other when they were younger, and the secondary roleplay is to see how they would've met (and maybe how they engaged with one another romantically/sexually to see how the relationship would've formed).

This isn't what everyone does, and even if someone wants to write a loli or just a very young, naive person, then that's actually their own business, too. And, again, you can block anyone you don't like the content of. We post publicly so like-minded people can find us, not because we want to hurt anyone.

When someone says "fiction doesn't equal reality," what they're saying is backed by actual studies. There was an argument for a long time about video games causing aggression in kids. What they uncovered was that that was KIND of true: children who played violent video games were more prone to violence, but only when that child was already more prone to violence.

The same is true here: proshippers aren't into kids, and don't become MORE into kids from writing/drawing fictional characters, UNLESS they were already a MAP to begin with.

Conflating the two is harmful, especially when so many proshippers were victims of CSA themselves. Turning around and saying 'you're a MAP' to someone who was harmed by a MAP is extremely damaging to a person.

Wanted to get this off my chest. I hope the people that wanted to see it have/will see it.

There are patterns in her stories and the transmisia is one of them. It has not improved in any real way since she wrote her protagonist checking people's genitals before he decided what pronouns he was gonna arbitrarily assign them. She still refuses to even have the characters list their pronouns in their Super Scifi Social Media bios.

And because she said herself The Murderbot Diaries was inspired by The Imperial Radch series. And then you start reading that series and the subject of pronouns is brought up literally within the first scene and then continues to be brought up over the course of the story.

No, not everything has to Be Representation™ but casual transmisia still needs to be criticized and discussed, especially when it's a repeating pattern in an author's works and she literally has examples of the proper way to handle things (The Imperial Radch series!) and then still chooses to drop the ball, despite having her pronouns in her Twitter bio.

Don't even get me started on the way she treated Chime and River.

Saying "don't acknowledge bigotry unless it's blatant and in your face and calling for your death" is just "vote blue no matter who" but with books. If you can't recognize the most ""harmless"" instances of transmisia, then you yourself are going to perpetuate them!

Is Martha Wells being purposefully and maliciously transmisic? No, clearly not. Is she still being transmisic? Yes, and if no one ever bothers to tell her that, she's not going to stop. She's not a saint or a mind reader. She's not just going to magically learn how to be a better ally just because you like her writing. That's not how literally anything works.

Anyways. Stop fucking lying to people to get them to read books. All you're doing is making people resentful towards books that can 100% be entirely enjoyable, unless you've been tricked into thinking they're going to be so much more inclusive than they really are.

People using it/its pronouns is not some hypothetical theoretical idea that only exists in fiction. We are real people and we deserve respect, and if you can't even pretend to respect our fictional counterparts, then you just need to admit you're a transmisic.

Call out people who erase Murderbot's touch-aversion and act like it's something that needs to be fixed/something ~love~ can or should fix.

The Murderbot Diaries is literally the only fucking actual representation of touch-aversion I have EVER FUCKING SEEN where it is actually portrayed respectfully without being treated like a joke where character A says they don't like hugs and character B immediately hugs them and refuses to let go and says A needs to just admit they love it already.

I swear to fucking god. I finally find actual representation for touch-aversion that does it right, and of fucking course ableists in the fandom have to fucking ruin everything by pretending "it's not actually touch-averse, it just has trust issues! Fucking amisics spent years hating on and and sending death threats to anyone who used the Split Attraction Model, but now aromisics think it gives them a free pass to insist that characters who they'll admit are ace can still be shipped romantically because being ace doesn't always mean you're aro!!! Murderbot is not just ace. It is not just repulsed by sex. It is aro. It is just as repulsed by the idea of being in a romantic relationship as it is of having sex. It literally said it would rather stab itself in the face than listen to people talk about their romantic relationship or have sex. Its reaction to being asked if it has "a relationship" with ART is horror and disgust to the point that it's shouting, even after Ratthi clarifies that he didn't mean a sexual relationship. Murderbot still finds the word 'relationship' disgusting, even when it's been clarified that it's not referring to a sexual relationship. It still finds the idea of being in a romantic relationship, literally this is a quote, "disgusting"

Aromisics arguing that there's no evidence for Murderbot being aro and claiming "that's just fanon" because the word "aromantic" itself is never used is just fucking absurd. This is literally the only thing I have ever seen where touch-averse characters are actually treated with respect, to the point that before I read these, when I made a post criticizing the fact that no one literally ever respects touch-averse characters in any stories I've ever seen and just treats our boundaries like hilarious jokes to violate, I had half a dozen people in the notes recommending this series. Because it's literally the only fucking representation anyone's ever fucking found.

If you do not use it/its pronouns, you have an ever greater fucking responsibility towards calling out people misgendering Murderbot in this fandom. I am tired of having to fucking call out people who are being transmisic towards people like me.
