screaming look who i found yesterday !!!!!!!!!! the og 1999 Transmetal 2 Megatron !!!!!! probably my luckiest in the wild Transformers/Beast Wars find since my on-card original/first wave release Dinobot !!!!!!! he is in great shape for being loose/oob, has 2 of the 3 missile accessories (honestly amazed that any of them were even still with him), and was actually affordable--I think I paid more for the on-card Dinobot like 10 years ago or whenever I found him?

but man this toy is so complex seeing it irl, i'm amazed by how big he actually is (def the largest transformer i own now) and the detail in the sculpt and the multiple gimmicks that are really fun to play with (moving neck, wing flaps). both the missile launch thingies don't work very well but that could be from age. i tried to transform him but the instruction sheet i found online was too confusing so i reversed course and returned him to dragon form ahaha. also pleasantly surprised by how well his paint job has held up, my other og Transmetal/Transmetal 2s have noticeable paint loss with the metallic paint, some where it actively flakes off just from me touching them. i have not noticed any significant damage anywhere on him as well and all of his joints still feel very sturdy and strong. like holy shit what a find this fella is absolutely gorgeous and was well cared-for!!! i'll give his transformation another go at some point tho i will prob look for a video demonstration to follow, haha. also want to try fixing the manufacturing error mentioned on his tfwiki article, the neck control lever on his dragon back is installed upside down and looks like an easy fix. and i gotta better organize my shelves, i kinda just cleared a space to put him somewhere safe for now, but i did get him next to my United Beast Megatron who I've also been keeping in beast mode so they can both rawr together hehe

but yea i am so fucking hype to have found this guy especially since I limited my Transformers collecting to primarily only Beast Wars & Animated 2007 and being very choosy of which characters/toys I actually want and how much I'll spend on them. TM2 Megatron was someone I have dreamed of owning but never expected to actually get my hands on affordably !!!! wahhh i love him so much

So after Primal charged at Megatron Yesterday, they fought a bit. Megatron won it seems, since he has Primal’s battered body in his hand. Is this the end for our Orange Primate Boss Bot? Find out next time on “I draw a pen doodle every day until I forget!”

Under Flames and Moonlight

Context for this piece, Dragonbot had abandoned Megatron and Predacons shortly after they had crashed on the planet, as he blamed him for stranding them in a different universe (long story).

Now on his own, Dragonbot settled into the rainforest under the alias Autumn, and made a habit of sabotaging Megatron’s plans whenever they came at the cost of innocent lives.

During this period, Dragonbot had never transformed, preferring to use his newly obtained stealth abilities whenever fighting the Preds, partially due to a fear of being outcasted should any dragon discover that he is a Predacon as well.

This lasted about a few months before Megatron had grown frustrated by this, and decided to smoke Dragonbot out, by setting fire to the rainforest! 

This brings us to here, where Dragonbot, with a dragonet he rescued from the flames, is confronted by Megatron himself!

This is my take on Transmetal 2 Megatron with the same idea as my Transmetal 2 Optimus Primal design, which is Beast Wars Megatron crossed with WFC Megatron hence why his arms don't match. While yes, his lower half is inspired by Transmetal 2 Megs. I went heavy redesign on the top. I also took inspiration from Perfect Effect Mega Doragon. I decided not to go with Dragon because it felt too Galvatron, and my thought process was that if Megatron becomes a Dragon, Optimus needs to be a Lion. The colors are well original Beast Wars Megatron, and it looks right. But it's white and purple, and I'm a sucker for white and purple. Honestly, I think it came out just how I wanted it to, and it was so much fun to redesign an iconic look for Megs

You know, the G1 color scheme works incredibly well with the Transmetal 2 dragon body, perhaps even better than the red and gold in some aspects!

Transformers Kingdom: Predacon Megadragon

You know how Primal Prime exists and he's just Optimal Optimus in G1 Prime colors? It occurred to me that we don't have a Megatron equivalent.

We've got Cryotek, sure, but how good would TMII Megatron look in G1 Megatron's color scheme? So yeah, I did that and it looks really good in my opinion.

I don’t follow Pokémon that closely but now that you mention it, Primal’s three forms do follow like a Pokémon evolution. You can see that same concept with Megatron and Cheetor too, since they also got 3 forms in the show.

wada sez: I found the clean lineart and original script for this strip chilling on Shaun Flaherty’s deviantART, and figured I may as well finish the job. This is another straightforward story, starring Quickstrike after he joins the Predacons in “Coming of the Fuzors”. The monster he runs into is itself a fusion of Terrorsaur and Scorponok, who fell into the lava inside the Predacon headquarters during the quantum surge, and were last seen Transmetallizing... Rather than drawing inspiration from their toyline-only Transmetal forms, Solarz has drawn a horrific monster with all the organic material burned away. For the coloring, I went for a heavily gradient-based approach to crudely evoke the CGI rendering of the cartoon. I decided to color the Terrorsaur/Scorponok fusion as white-hot metal, rather than bringing in any tones specific to those characters; this was as much a shortcut as it was a storytelling choice, honestly. I’m pretty pleased with how the lava effect came out, I’ve never done something like that before! Finally, I took the opportunity to switch out the fonts from the dialogue, and to add a title to the first panel, using fonts that recall the actual opening title credits from the cartoon. As Quickstrike’s original toy has a lot of sentimental value for me, I was really glad to be able to bring this strip to life. If I’m being honest, though, I find the writing a little strange—in the show, Quickstrike is a very talkative villain, but here he’s a meek and silent victim. Weird choice. The artist has also pushed the Beast Wars characters towards a much more robotic style, with things like Quickstrike having a separate conduit connecting his cobra head to his torso, and Megatron’s bladed weapon appearing as a grabber claw. This second change in particular is notable because the original script actually calls for Megatron to stab the monster, not shoot it! You can read that below, and see the original art.

CAP: "Welcome to the Darksyde, Fuzor. CAP: "Try not to get lost." Panel 2.  Over Quickstrike's shoulder, we see a pool of lava.  In one spot, the lava burbles. NO DIALOGUE Panel 3.  A grotesque, Transmetal amalgamation of Scorponok and Terrorsaur bursts from the lava toward us.  It breaches the panel borders as if it is leaping out of the page to attack us. NO DIALOGUE Panel 4.  Toward the left side of the panel, Quickstrike steps back defensively; his "hands" shield his face.  He is just out of reach of Scorponok/Terrorsaur's claw.  Toward the right side of the panel, we discover that Megatron has driven his whiplash cutlass through Scorponok/Terrorsaur's mangled torso, preventing its attack. Sooooooo glad we got an update to this guy. My only gripe is that his bot mode chest is really finicky on how it needs to be tabbed together, but once you do that, *orgasm noises* 🤣
