I feel like I shouldn't be the first to notice this, but in The Transformers (circa 2006 in-universe) Dirk Manus is a humanish man who is possibly a love interest for Marissa Faireborn and somewhere down the JG1 timeline is the father of Marissa's daughter, Sue (named after his ship?).
But in other parts of the greater G1 family of continuities, Marissa hangs around with a bot named ThunDERCracker (alive well after 2005) who is pretty bad at coming up with human character names, but one of them is Susan.
Derc/Dirk Manus sounds like a fake name that Thundercracker would use if trying to be a humanish entity. If Thundercracker did research for a script he might even realize the "dirk" spelling indicates a type of dagger, like a long thrusty one.
Is this a thing? Are Dirk and Thundercracker like alternate universe versions of each other?? Or is there some other convoluted thing that happens?
Dirk in many scenes wears a blue jacket open at the front with an amber-ish shirt seen below at the opening and some white (or light gray) pants. Also, one of his fancy outfits is mainly white and blue. Do I have to point Thundercracker shares those colors?
What's up with this?

man hearing recently about people's good experiences with masterforce genuinely makes me so happy.....cause my first exposure to it? was seeing it be pretty much ridiculed 😭 like
Made fun of for being "too weird for a transformers series" and therefore "boring"--skippable, even 🫤
I almost adopted that opinion myself, but ultimately my curiosity about JG1 won out and I bought the DVDs to give the trilogy a watch. And I?? loved it when I saw it, loved the whole trilogy tbh!! Like the masterforce theme played and I didn't think it was out of place or "too chill for a transformers show 🤨", I thought it was?? a nice song???? 😭 And upon further reflection, actually perfect for the vibe of this show, so no, it's not a bad choice at all, it's serving its particular purpose! And serving it well!! 😭❤️ Side note Hawk is BEAUTIFUL in that first intro sequence good LORDD LOOK AT HIMMM 🫣🩷✨
On the topic of music, the insert songs/OST is all really good too 😭💕💖✨🩷🔥 The Pretenders theme is pretty as fuck and noble and lovely! and We Believe Tomorrow lowkey makes me tear up when I listen to it.......🥹😭❤️🩹🩵
Anyway, within minutes of the first episode I was just digging the vibe. I finished it in just a couple nights total 🫣....seeing the Pretenders and Godmasters and considering that concept and everything it offers to transformers lore.....just so cool to me‼️💗
as I've said before, masterforce also helped me cope with the recent loss of my cat at the time....
Long-term helped with developing my art and writing skills; I'm embarrassed of a lot of that older art now 😅 but...I realize those were very important stepping stones to get where I am now, and for that, I'm real grateful.
It was and is an odd little source of joy for me tbh!...so it's my mission to give people a different kinda first impression if I can 💗
It's not perfect--it's got its weird beats and things I might not even like and the animation is strange sometimes and etc etc etc. I mean. no series is perfect....but it is better than what I've seen some tf fans give it credit for. And I'll die on that hill tbh....😭💖💕
so yea that's all and thanks for coming to my tedx talk,

TRANSFORMERS OC: Omen of Unicron Alt: Unicronian Hearse
A survivor of Unicron's apocalypse in the light of the Matrix of Leadership. She cares for his dead - including Unicron himself, what's left of him.
Bestie and I watched the G1 movie together and we’ve been having fun developing Unicron as an occupied planet with his own people besides Galvatron, Scourge, Cyclonus and their repaints; particularly in the tone/context of JG1, because Unicron would’ve gotten to be sympathetic if Kaneda-sensei had been given Unicron as a character to write for
Omen’s alt is based on a Japanese Buddhist-style hearse, and the gold cracks throughout her chassis is based on the kintsugi method of fixing broken pottery!
Also her shrine spawns and despawns when she transforms like Optimus’ trailer because I’m not figuring out how that shit transforms lmfao

see, the issue with all those threads and debates and videos on the subject of "who would win between [x character/group from non-transformers series] and [y transformers character/group]" is that half the time they don't specify which tf continuity they're talking about (and if they specify g1 they basically never specify which g1)
so if I wanted to be a dick I could just pull Alternity out of my ass (which is technically g1, and specifically part of the jg1 cartoon continuity) which basically results in transformers curbstomping by just. using time-hack powers to trap their opponent in a time loop or time traveling to kill them in the past (or in some cases, like starscream's, his primary weapon is "effective over time and space, going backwards through time and eliminating them in the past, the future, and other dimensions) plus other crap like reality/probability manipulation and being able to "eat time" to gain power. (there's so much other crap. it's mostly themed around cutting/manipulating/warping physics/time/gravity/inertia/momentum
plus if you destroy an alternity transformer's body that doesn't matter because it's just an avatar they use to interact with "mortal planes" because they're basically multiversal-level higher-dimensional gods so yeah.
(yes alternity is really really stupid. It's also the one where literally every character turns into a car because that was the gimmick of the toyline)
also yeah I'm aware those debates are pointless to begin with, especially considering most of them are filled with people who either only know stuff about/are only fans of one series and hard bias towards it as a result, or only have rudimentary knowledge of one or more of the parties discussed and say a bunch of stupid crap. also just in general there's no real point to them unless you're like. writing a crossover fic or something
#transformers#random robot rambles#robot talks about transformers#this is mostly about reddit but also sometimes spacebattles. and sometimes youtube#alternity genuinely just sounds like kids playing with their toys and going ''no you can't hurt me I have an everything-proof shield''#this post was motivated by me coming across one of these threads while trying to find specs for optimus' barrage cannons in bayverse

I have not been assessed for and therefore have not been diagnosed for or with specific neurodivergence.
But let me tell you about my interests and how I do them in streaks.
The Transformers - I have been into these giant alien robots since I was a 12-year-old girl. I'm not that person who can tell you all about JG1, but I know a lot, I collect the toys, I paint some of them, I write fics, I design OCs sometimes, I'm not super good at drawing them, but I try. Violin Ravage, think about it.
Angelology - I got super into this sometime after someone (Neil Gaiman?) recommended the book A Dictionary of Angels. I then acquired a whole shelf full of books about angels with religious and less religious takes and got super into the hierarchy(?) of orders, but got frustrated that there was no consensus on the number and names of these, so I just made my own system
Vampires - sometimes before during and after Anne Rice (RIP) was writing the Vampire Chronicles, like in my teen years and on, I watched so many vampire movies and read so many vampire books. Fiction and lore and even a few true crime type works.
Writing original(?) fiction - After I tried writing some primitive legally-dissimilar robot-like alien stories and got frustrated that they seemed juvenile, (and also after the age I had read The Sandman comics) about the age of attending college (art schools) I started writing fiction that was a mash-up of mythology, vampires, and ancient astronauts set in cities where I attended school (LA and NYC) that had all these androgynous supernatural beings and like gay art student characters. Then I just kept adding on to that series/universe without publishing any of it. Also got to the point of making an AU of my own work and writing that.
I know a lot about Ancient Astronaut and Ancient Alien theories.
Astrotheology - Graham Hancock led to me reading Hamlet's Mill and Hamlet's Mill led me down an astrotheology rabbit hole to the point where I want to (but fear my art skills aren't good enough) and started to develop a Tarot Deck where the poses on the cards are based on constellations, because I'm convinced that is what some of the older decks did - used constellations as the templates for poses. I made some YouTube videos about it but my computer's not really powerful enough for streaming.
I also know a little about Tarot and collect decks
building little things - I also build/decorate dollhouses and dioramas to house various dolls and action figures.
I also know a bit about upholstering human-scale furniture and related DIY crafts and refinishing.
Container trees - I don't always call them Bonsai but I got into gardening with vegetables in containers first, then moved on to in-ground vegetable and wildlife gardening and growing trees both in ground and in containers. My thing that I like to to get native trees for my region and grow those. I'm still trying to figure out how to get them to survive both summers and winters because the pots just don't have the same insulation and available water as the ground.
I play Dungeons & Dragons and also make and paint miniatures for ttrpg scale. I really want to learn how to play Transformers RPG. I started making some maps with cute roadway playtape without even having others to play with me.
honestly so much of the way we conceptualize autistic special interests is predicated on there not being anyone who shares them with us? and like. have you met humans. have you talked to any autistics. because lots of them are pretty interesting actually! and autistic people are often pretty good at infecting you with their interests so that you share them too even if you're not as motivated to fixate happily on them for their own sakes!
huge whorls of autistic-generated human communities exist, and people who aren't used to autistic people never seem to realize that Yes Those Are Also Autistics, often because people are used to autistic special interests occupying some very limited contexts like Computers because Computers were a big new societal innovation and community spinning up right when people also started thinking about autism as a Distinction Among Humans. Also Pokemon. And the Internet. Nineties kids know what I mean, eh?
anyway here are some heavily autistic communities that allistic people never seem to realize tend to concentrate autistics and be driven by them:
every non-commercial domestic animal fancy ever, including dog, cat, pigeon, chicken, and horse people; also includes a fair chunk of the commercial kinds but there are slightly less of these
fandom of any kind (for some reason--it's misogyny--no one seems to realize that this also applies to female-slanted forms of fandom focused on storytelling and modification as well as male-slanted ones that involve information curation)
religion. especially any kind that involves any kind of organization--less the charismatic ones that involve manipulating other people, more the kind that draw people interested in the way that religion works. less/more is not all/none.
kink and sexuality generally and also gender. we think a lot. it's a problem. and we get snagged on stuff. plus sensory shit ties into everything. just saying. e v e r y t h i n g.
academia. look we get. we get interested in things. if you get interested enough in things people call you an expert and sometimes they give you money. money is nice. it lets you buy more objects of special interest.
acting. we wear masks all the fucking time and we get caught up in it. which makes you think about structure, eh?
comedy. ditto.
building shit. admittedly the allistics have largely noticed that engineers concentrate us by now but it has taken a surprisingly long time to realize that this also applies to other, older crafts.
fibercrafts and textiles. what about "we like textures and also figuring out how things work" is a surprise to you. also math. again the answer to how the allistics keep failing to notice this one is "there's lots of ladies in there."
I bet I'm missing plenty that I'm just not thinking of but my god, man, look at how many of these things touch us! look at how they shape our understanding of one another and ourselves! how cool is that

If you could do one Transformers story set in a pre existing TF universe, but disqualifying Gen 1 or its derivatives (IDW, Beast Wars) where would you set it.
Fuck, IDW or an adjacent universe would have been my immediate goto
.....Other than that I'd probably make my own timeline.
Also JG1 (Headmasters, Victory, Masterforce, Zone) are all G1 derivates as well so that's them out, along with Beast Machines and BW2 & BW Neo.....That being said, according to Japanese canon, aligned and to some extent the Unicron Singularity (Which is honestly my favourite piece of retcon fuckeru in any fandom) literally everything is actually canon to G1.
But what does that really leave? Prime & it's "Sequels", RID 2001, Bayverse and the Unicron trilogy?
Okay cool then, Unicron trilogy because it's wide enough in scope with enough fun things to play with that I can tell some stories away from canon

Of Masters and Mayhem fanfic: introduction
Hi, so I’ve been throwing around tons of disconnected ideas for Transformers stories for over a year now. These range from continuations of the JG1 continuity to one-off stories set in completely unrelated continuities and many more. Over time, I basically abandoned many of them but around Christmas, I began to think up some headcanons for the Of Masters and Mayhem universe and began to integrate many of these disconnected ideas into it. The bits of backstory in that universe helped me to actually connect all of my random ideas into one big storyline. So, basically, that’s what this blog will be for. I’ll be using it to post character profiles, stories, and other bits of fanfiction.
The current plan is for there to be three “phases” or eras. In each era, there will be stories taking place in many different places and times, but all connected by some overall themes. Most stories will have their own characters of focus from whos perspective it is told. So there will be quite a bit of jumping forward in time.
Hopefully you will enjoy these stories and character. If not, I’d like to hear feedback on how to improve certain aspects. Also, feel free to point out continuity errors and the like. Thank you for reading this post and have a great day.

as a lifelong transformers fan I was unaware that Masterforce was even a thing and now I was able to find the full series on YouTube and I’m an so damn excited to watch it XD
AYYYYYYY epic!!! ✨✨ Greetings, fellow lifelong TF fan 😌🤝✨
Also yea!!!! \(≧▽≦)/ I think it's So awesome someone uploaded it 😭🙏 makes it more accessible to people......cause idk if I just never looked for it at the time or what, but when I wanted to watch JG1 the first time, I ended up having to buy all three series on DVD and went from there 😳...on the flip side, I am a DVD/CD collector so I'm glad to have those in my collection 🫡🔥......buuuut it's also nice that now, any time I wanna reference a scene or just watch an episode again, I can simply open youtube~ 😌
And so you're planning to start Masterforce!!! Niceee 😎 I'll forever stand by my opinion that it is--conceptually and narratively--one of the most interesting (and creative!) directions for a transformers series to have taken, and I wish more people at least knew about it aaaaa 😭😭‼️ (I will therefore continue to persevere in my efforts to spread the word...heheh 🤭✨)
So yea! Thanks for telling me that!! And I hope you enjoy your experience w Masterforce :] ✨

Hasbro may have rebooted Transformers Generations into this War For Cybertron Siege thing we’re in right now (and which has, to be fair, turned out a lot better than I initially expected), but TakaraTomy’s determined to mine as much mileage out of the old stuff as they can. Indeed, Legends never die (they may get renamed into ‘Selects’, however) and one such last gasp is a big one. A Big *Powered* one, even. Yes, the Legends EX Big Powered set is here. There’s been some trepidation from some who got it in-hand since this thing was released, so let’s see how I’ll like it!
(Just off the start, love that box)
So what we have here is the latest-of-late-G1 Cybertron Commander Dai Atlas and his two retainers, just in time to interact with all those Micromasters Siege is giving us. I’ll start with the smaller, less important dudes: Roadfire was the one I was actually kinda looking forward to the most. The original Roady’s a bit of a general grail, being a late, hard-to-find Japanese-exclusive toy (and pretty much nonexistent, personality-wise). He’s retooled off of TR Twin Twist, which is pretty much a perfect fit, turning the boxy drill-tank into Roadfire’s comparatively-distinctive boxy regular-tank. A large part of this design is now based in the giant removable cannon section (which even includes the Titan Master cockpit now!) but that’s how the original toy worked too, so it’s kinda fair. This mold still rocks anyway, with it’s nifty-as-hell transformation tricks like the arms or the spinning torso-front. Some of the plastic tolerances on my copy of this version do seem unfortunately loosey-goosey, particularly the waist connection and the hand-holes where the gun pegs in. It’s nothing that’s a real deal-breaker, but it does undermine a toy I otherwise really want to like, alongside the whole super-premium exclusive deal this set is embodying.
Next there’s my eternal nemesis, Sonic Bomber. Look, I’ll just be endlessly amazed that a dude who barely has fifteen minutes of canon to his name could irritate me so much. Maybe this is why JG1 Autobots generally *don’t* have much in the way of personality, because they end up being Sonic Bomber instead. Similarly irritatingly, I actually quite like his toy! It’s based on the Triggerhappy mold, which got retooled within an inch of its life each time it got used in Titans Return, and is similarly completely redone here. In fact, if you hadn’t been told what it was based on or could recognize the few base structural parts it has left, you’d be forgiven for thinking this was an all-new toy! He even does something new with the leg transformation, a first for this mold, and ends up giving him some decent ankle tilts. His alt-mode is the same sort of impractical flying dagger it was before (and also gives me BWII Starscrem vibes). I like his rifle, but not so much his solid black cockpit- Half the appeal of the TR gimmick is being able to see the little dudes piloting them! Another thing you’re terrible at, Sonic Bomber!
And of course, there’s the big map himself, Dai Atlas! He’s retooled from Overlord in ways that work out…interestingly. Okay, so the big thing is that Dai Atlas’s vehicle mode is supposed to be this giant weird combined tank/jet thing (that also has a drill for some reason), which should work right well based off Overlord’s own ability to be a stacked-together tank and jet. But they decided to make the vehicle mode more ‘proper’ here by removing the ability for the tank and jet components to actually separate, and their solution was…to just chain them together at the midsection with this simple, swively, plastic-joint piece. It just feels incredibly perfunctory, and everything about this design decision results in the most hindering compromises of the rest of the toy. The turret section of the tank is gone, so the rotating panels that make up his robot legs look oddly hollow from some angles (thankfully it’s not nearly as bad as it looked in some pics). The loose chain bit replaces Overlord’s old connection point, so his waist feels annoyingly wobbly when you’re handling him. It just feels like the sort of design choice that was made with as little effort as possible, and the whole toy comes off less cool for it.
Not to dump on King Atlas too hard, because he’s not *bad*, just not as cool as he could have been. His modes still look cool as they are, in fact I need to highlight just generally terrific the sculpting, colors, and paint on all these toys is. They really sell that blocky, chonky, late-G1 Japanese super robot charm, with lots of poppin’ whites and reds picking out their own base color schemes. Dai Atlas in particular does do a good job of looking even larger than he actually is, and the dude’s always had a wonderfully distinctive design by the standards of a ‘good guy leader’ TF. My only other major complain is that he doesn’t come with his signature giant ‘Z’ sword- The best you can do is sort of approximate it by popping off and combining his wings, and even then it can only peg onto his arms.
Each one of these guys has a ‘base’ mode tacked on, in the spirit of the tacked-on base modes the originals had (okay, Dai Atlas’s mold had a base mode to begin with, and it’s even still got bits to combine with the other TR bases if you’ve got them around). They’ve also all got connection points to stick together into the titular Big Powered combination, and it’s actually way cooler than I expected. The sheer size of this thing is impressive as-is, buncha big toys like this stuck together. And the spacey nature of the altmodes means it actually works as a big silly spaceship rather than looking too disconnected for what it is. If you’ve got the space for it, it actually makes a pretty cool display on its own. They also all retain the Titan Master functionality of their original toys, and you’ll have to pry out of my cold, dead mind the headcanon that two of them are Cain and Akira, the cutest couple in TF history. No idea who the third one would be though. Rabbicrater?
So the Big Powered set isn’t perfect, and in fact is in an odd place where the ‘centerpiece’ of it, Dai Atlas, is actually the most flawed of the bunch. Roadfire and Sonic Bomber are actually both excellent little retooled deluxes, while Dai Atlas has…issues, but isn’t outright bad or anything. As a big exclusive Japanese toy set, this bunch are actually pretty modestly-priced, and are absolutely your surest bet as far toys of them are concerned. Zone’s a real cool little OVA, so if you’ve got love for it and want some of those dudes, this is worthwhile as an esoteric collection.
Woo, big block of text for a big toy set! Thanks for indulging me on that one, everyone. You deserve to take it easy for the rest of the night, and I’ll see you here next time!
