Wasp will probably hold this for a while, but as of late, it’s been Blitzwing. There is so much backstory and so many implications for the both of them that we never got to see.

scrunkly (my “baby”, character that gives me cuteness aggression, character that is So Shaped)

Soundwave. This iteration of Soundwave departs again from his classic portrayal, and the heavy lean into his music motifs and traits is fun to watch. Also, tell me his toy form isn’t absolutely adorable.

scrimblo bimblo (underrated/underappreciated fave)

WASP AGAIN. Hands down, I will not shut up about this as long as I live, TFA accessed some kind of cosmic force and adapted a Beast Wars comic relief character into an incredibly tragic, horrifying storyline that got nowhere near enough time, development, or recognition. I am simultaneously baffled, miffed, and mildly offended that there is not more quality Wasp content out there.

glup shitto (obscure fave, character that can appear in the background for 0.2 seconds and I won’t shut up about it for a week)

Strika. She is so powerful, her Final Pam energy is off the scale, AND Lugnut’s her consort. She is too cool to be relegated to a minor/background character as in the show.

Shockwave. Not particularly unpopular, but his time undercover with all the implication about Autobot society and what it takes to go undercover in the first place are evidence enough for me.

Sentinel. Suffer, you chin-faced, tick-ass bitch.

Soundwave sat on the top deck of the Nemesis, Starscream at his side. Their digits were intertwined with one another’s as they gazed up at the stars above them.

“It’s no Cybertron, but it’s still quite a nice view.” Starscream commented with a sigh. Soundwave nodded in response, leaning into the seeker a bit. He wondered if he would’ve been able to pinpoint where their home planet was just by looking. “Do you ever miss how things used to be? Before the war?” the silver mech asked.

‘Sometimes.’ a voice clip played. 

“What were things like for you before all this slag happened?”

‘Don’t like to’ - ‘talk about it’ - ‘much.’

Starscream hummed in understanding, then sighed, shuttering his optics. “I remember roaming the palace halls, back before Vos fell, playing hide and seek with my trine. No death threats, no battles to fight, no orders to follow, just us three younglings enjoying being alive...” He stared down into the sea of clouds below. “I wish I could just- turn back time and prevent all this from happening somehow...”

Soundwave squeezed Starscream’s servo gently. ‘I’m just glad’ - ‘to be here’ - ‘with you.’

Starscream chuckled lightly, smiling at the blue mech sitting beside him.

“Primus, I love you.”

Soundwave displayed a heart emoji on his visor in response.

I’ve been thinkin’ about Catscratch again, and having gotten into Animaniacs recently I can’t help but compare how I’ve reacted to both shows. I realized that, both being shows centered around three siblings that are cartoon animals, my favorite characters/the characters I relate to the most of the main three are the middle children in both cases? Gordon was always my favorite of the Catscratch trio growing up and I latched onto Wakko right away when I started watching Animaniacs (although that’s probably due in part by the fact that he shares a voice actor with one of my favorite transforbers). But that’s kind of unusual because I’m the youngest sibling in my family.

I relate to bits of Waffle and Dot (the “haha i’m the cute one and i can do no wrong” mindset in Dot and some of the immaturity in Waffle), but I relate to Gordon and Wakko more. Wakko is feral full of some of the same naivety found in Waffle, but quieter. While being seemingly the least socialized of the three, he’s also the one that causes the least trouble (”I’m Mad” has Yakko and Dot fighting in the car while they’re being driven to a carnival while Wakko is just complaining that he’s stressed). Gordon is the mediator, always trying to do good by everyone even at his own expense, though he has his moments of self-interest. Again, he causes the least trouble, or at least when does cause trouble its because he genuinely thought what he was doing was the right thing to do.

I could easily see why Gordon vibes w/ me so hard (immediate family generally not being as emotionally mature as they should be and having to be emotionally mature to be able to deal w/ them even though you might not have the capacity), but like... middle children. Bc isn’t it like. Usually both the eldest and youngest are brats while the middle children are the ignored good kids? And the Warners and the Catscratch trio exemplify that stereotype well. So like? I wonder what that says about me that it’s the middle children in these cartoons I relate to and not the youngest.
