Favorite little self-indulgent AU of mine is transmasc Jon naming himself after Jonah. Like idk maybe a few months after Mr. Spider Jon’s grandmother found some book by an obscure occultist from the 1800s. And maybe Jon was a little fascinated by the theories and ideas and the way it was written. And maybe a few years later when he needs a new name it’s only natural that his mind drifts to the intelligent, curious man whose book he read at a very vulnerable, formative time, whose research institute he dreams of working at. And maybe he’s a little too ashamed to ACTUALLY name himself after Jonah Magnus the georgian occultist, or maybe something about “Jonathan” just speaks to him more. Idk. And Elias being Very Charmed about it of course.

Thinking Selkie TMA au

Selkie Jon has a pretty mother of pearl carving of a seal that is the only thing he was able to retain when he was stolen from the sea. He wears it around his throat, it is his comfort and his promise.

He was stolen as a pup. Sailors caught him in their nets and we're going to kill him when he became a child as if by magic. His coat was taken from him and he was stolen from his family and his home, brought to England and given to a stranger to raise as their own. His grandmother never asked him where he came from, she never cared to. All she wanted was to rear a polite and proper daughter—which Jon refused to be. He abandoned the name she gave him, and from age 9 to 19 when she died and he was an adult, he went by Jon.

Many times he thought about running away, back to the sea. His real mother, his grandmother, his matriarch. But she wouldn't recognize him without his coat, and without it he would drown.
