This month’s gemsona prompt, Tranquillityite. I decided to place her within Yellow Diamond’s court with the idea that her position/task was to help members of the court with relaxing de-stressing.

I really like this post that @snailyman​ made about Moon-People-made Synthetic Moon Gems!

So here’s my take on Tranquillityite! :>

Tranquillityite, or Ran, is a very soothing and serene gem who is very very young by gem standards (possibly just a year old, maybe even months?). Even with her youth, she and most others see her as the “older sister” to Pyrox. Ran loves to talk with her and playing with her “little sibling’s” hair, along with helping them sort out their thoughts. Ran is very suggestible, being very lazy, and would much rather enjoy Lunarian company than train/fight, even to the point that she has declared herself a pacifistic. However, she is very wary of Aechmea, and is nervous around him. She was specifically built to appear as close to Human as possible. Ran also innately gives off a soothing aura. She is unaware that their are other Gems like her on Earth yet. Her eyes are always closed due to that her new eyes are not ready yet (otherwise they’re black and sparkly [I was too tired to draw them ;;]).

Overall, Tranquillityite is a very passive and relaxed gem who loves her Lunarian family and being pampered than doing any actual work, and adores her Gem sibling(s).

The Apollo 11 Lunar Module “Eagle” landed at the southwestern edge of the Mare Tranquillitatis basin, approximately 50 Km from the closest highlands. During a 151 minutes long lunar spacewalk, astronauts Neil Armstrong & Edwin Buzz Aldrin set up Solar Wind experiments and a LASER Ranging Retro Reflector. They also collected 21.5 Kg samples of lunar soil and rocks. Three new minerals were discovered on the Moon: Tranquillityite, Pyroxferroite and Armacolite, the latter named after the astronauts. Monthly Gem Challenge: Tranquillityite

Just like last month, we’re giving you an unusual gem and challenging you to design a gemsona based on it! You can go as in-depth with your character designs as you’d like: come up with their personality and backstory, or just show what you think they’d look like. They can even be a fusion if you prefer; the choice is up to you!

This month’s gem is Tranquillityite (If you already have a Tranquillityite gemsona, you can still drop them in the MGC tag, this month is for all Tranquillityites, old or new!)

Gem Meaning: (Note: You can use the gem’s meaning to help you come up with ideas for your gemsona, but it’s not a requirement). Unknown! However, Tranquillityite was named for the site of the Apollo 11′s 1969 landing in the Sea of Tranquility.

Cool Facts: Tranquillityite is a lunar mineral. Don’t let its humble appearance fool you; under a microscope, its true beauty shines (as shown above, and below in the last image to the right)! Originally, this mineral was assumed to be of celestial origin and found only on the moon (where it was first discovered), but within the last decade, several samples of Tranquillityite have been found in Wester Australia. It’s believed that these lunar rocks are more volatile on Earth, since they're easily altered chemically or physically through varying temperatures and pressure near the Earth's core.

Hi I stay doing that gem month thing, today I give u Tranquillityite. She's a little antisocial & lives on the dark side of the moon. More will be explained tomorrow maybe

Her weapon is not really a weapon, I guess. Tranquillityite can summon 8 rings, 4 on each hand, by touching her gem once with each separate hand. These rings give grant her a few helpful (or not) properties:

• A healing ability, whether it be herself or another being.

• Heightened senses

• Minor telekinetic capabilities

• Able to produce a blinding flash of light (similar to that of a flashbang)

• Can create minor, kinda useless constructs (Brooms, rakes, occasional kitchen knife)

• Glows in the dark

• Getting punched in the face with these will hurt. A lot.

I have made.......... an OC. I learned some cool trivia about minerals discovered on the moon, and I couldn’t resist basing a design on it! Even if canon wouldn’t support it.

Pyroxferroite (Pyrox or Ferro for short) hails from the Sea of Tranquility on the moon, rather than the Beach of Beginnings like all other gems do, having been created in Lunarian experiments to manufacture their own gem-beings. Pyrox is the firstborn of four, the others being Armalcolite, Yttrobetafite, and Tranquillityite. They’re still exceedingly young at just 50 years of age, however, due to the difficulty to produce gems artificially; as of right now, they are the sole moon gem, while their ‘siblings’ are yet to awaken.

Their Lunarian neighbours’ enthusiasm for processing gems is admittedly unnerving, but Pyrox tries their best to fit in, since they seem like an otherwise nice lot (and there’s not much other choice). This includes partaking in their fashion, their lax and sleepy lifestyle, and even their food, despite not actually being able to eat. They’re pretty popular, too, but they sometimes get the feeling that it’s just because they’re a novelty rather than actually being liked. Secretly, they wish to be the same as the others and be noticed less, but their attempts to blend in aren’t usually very successful.

Pyrox also have a fondness for the snails that live there, even if they get nibbled on sometimes when playing with them.

When they inevitably head down to Earth to infiltrate the gems’ ranks, Pyrox definitely has some culture shock in store for them, but they’re very excited to learn about the Earth gems’ culture and make friends. Maybe that personal goal isn’t very helpful to the mission, though...

(by the way, i currently dont have any plans on making any of the other moon gems, so, like, if anyone else wants to have a crack at designing others then id love to see)
