Daily Life in the Phyrexian Spheres (Maze to Bays)
Previous: Facade to Furnace

The Maze is a thick tangle of coppered greenery and savage beasts shielding loyalist Phyrexia from the outskirts of the plane, posing a significant challenge to attackers moving in or rebels moving out. In theory, the domain ruled by Vorinclex and Glissa is loyal to Elesh Norn and stands ready to serve the Orthodoxy. In practice, most Maze denizens don't discriminate between Mirran or Phyrexian, loyalist or rebel. All are prey unless they can prove their worthiness to survive, and many an Orthodoxy enforcer realizes too late that their authority provides no shield from the dangers of the wild.
Though the Maze's savage reputation is well-earned, areas of tranquility remain, shielded by dense growth. Bubbling ichor wellsprings, nexuses of mana, and meadows of rare and exotic flowers await those with the skill to find them. Pockets of relative civilization also exist, such as the living quarters of priests, aspirants, and commoners, woven or grown into the landscape's coppery scaffolding. Common roles include the upkeep of local plant life and the study and augmentation of predators, carried out by Phyrexians known as stewards.
Not all Maze residents subscribe to Vorinclex and Glissa's ideology of weeding out the weak, though, and many form communities and care for those close to them. They are reluctant to aid outsiders, usually more out of self-preservation than an idea of social Darwinism (though many justify it with the latter). Luckily, no one is enforcing their obedience or ideologies--all Maze-dwellers must do is survive. Though predators run rampant, actual policing and enforcer presence is almost nonexistent here, making the Maze a suitable location for canny rebels to hide. In particular, the border between the Maze and the Furnace is a hotspot for illegal activity--another region that praetors consider beneath their notice.

The Bays are the heart of Phyrexia's surveillance state. Every feature of the landscape, from buildings to "trees" and the great skylights themselves, is studded with ever-watching eyestalks. The cameras' ubiquity reminds residents of their duty to obey--after all, you've got nothing to fear if you've got nothing to hide. Mind magic is heavily used, and memory redaction is common. The infrastructure of the sphere itself is also carefully micromanaged, down to local climate patterns. Control centers are overseen by ranking officials but staffed by commoners, who desperately beat back the unseemly Tangle growth that reaches down here.
Religion takes a backseat here in favor of hard science, and some researchers brazenly deny the Orthodoxy and claim experimentation as Phyrexia's truest way ahead. After all, the Progress Engine's primary export is research, and its titanic labs demand a steady influx of talent, raw materials, and captive test subjects (both Mirran and Phyrexian). Compleat creatures that fall short of their duties are often "repurposed" this way. Vast amounts of information are stored in archives of glistening oil and quicksilver.
Even in this sphere of eyes, however, dissidents carve out bubbles of secrecy. Drones and cameras can be covertly hacked, and mental defenses are meticulously constructed to mislead. Spy networks infiltrate nearly every level of Gitaxian academia, pilfering research and weaponry to aid the rebellion's cause.
A quirk of Surgical Bay life, which bleeds over into the other spheres, is the tendency of tools and inanimate devices to be replaced by living Phyrexian creatures known as skites. From syringes to chests and telescopes, even the most mundane items skitter on their own accord, and railings for them to walk on are built into most rooms. These simple creatures are roughly equivalent to trained animals, and variants are employed by both loyalists and rebels to spy on their opposition.

sumt about chung myung having a (relatively) softer heart than tang bo makes me melt... u can see tang bo doesn't reach out to things that he feels doesn't need it, but chung myung actively takes things into his heart... man i love how they're so diff from how they're presented as. usually the smiley, touchy one would be the self sacrificial one

yall genuinely have no idea how often im thinking about tangchung character studies theyre so interesting to pick and prod at.. chung myung keeping his softness under so many many layers of rock hard defense and even when u get close enough to him to break those walls down, hes so unused to being unprotected that gentleness feels like something that has to be coerced, gripped, and dragged out of him, affection making his chest feel clogged and cumbersome, and love felt so heavily it feels like it could bring down the sky.. he feels with such an overwhelming excessiveness that displaying it freely in any way other than casual familiarity feels like humiliation, and asking for it in return even more shameful.. he is a empty house hungry to be lived in and yearning for a flame but he would much rather let his terse and concise and seemingly brutish actions speak louder than his softness, no matter how it may end up being interpreted....my long winded way of saying i think chung myung has an extreme hedgehog dilemma and is a tsundere about it
tang bo is a little trickier for me to get a read on maybe bc i hvnt read much about him yet and most of my knowledge of him comes from fics & twt users LOL (which im aware are mostly extremely ooc..it kinda grates on me knowing most or all of my knowledge of him is secondhand and distorted) but i must agree with you.. the tang bo in my head is predominately headcanon ive built up myself so whatever i say about him might be extremely off the mark but idgaf..i like the version of him i have in my head currently..
compared to chung myung, tang bo feels hrmmm..more sociable but impersonal.. im not sure if he can be called cold exactly, but he doesnt seem to show much care or affection to anyone he isnt particularly close with.. he seems to have an almost impassive business type relationship with most people, including his family though it should be mentioned aside from chung myung, he is also friendly towards chung mun and chung jin, having been said to drink w the three of them often.. from what ive seen he seems to treat them like a second family in a sort of way? i attribute tang bos dispassionate demeanor to his family, the way he was raised formed a sort of crust around not, not so much a wall but a poker face..and chung myung was the first person who directly challenged the monotony of his life
smth about the dichotomy of their natures is sooo interesting urhg.. tang bo, a young master of a reputable rich family given everything he could ever want for, taught to be upright and gallant since birth, wearing the seemingly permanent mask of impersonality and tranquility that was hammered into him since young, meeting someone who brought back colour into his dull world for the first time in his life and suddenly that mask starts crumbling and tang bo finds himself happy in a way he was never allowed to be under the watchful eye of his familys strict elders
compared to chung myung whos life was nearly the complete opposite, an orphan taken in and raised in a sect by people who showered him w as much uninhibited familial love as he could want for, taught him to be honourable and respectable, grows up w a penchant for keeping his true emotions hidden deep underneath his surface, not out of malice or obligation but because, unlike tang bo, it was simply how he was..meeting and befriending tang bo made him begin to WANT, for the very first time..to actually show someone how deeply he can care, to peel back the veil and show someone the desperation for intimacy he desires so profoundly that buzzes underneath his skin in a way he couldnt, wouldnt, speak of out of the sheer indignity of it all...yeah so basically what im saying again is that hes tsundere and tang bo saw that and was like i need that gay boy

Self-Care Management in Bipolar Patients Education on self-care management of bipolar disorder is an essential nursing intervention where the patients living with bipolar disorder and their caregivers are taught mechanisms to get them actively involved in the self-care and activities that seek to monitor the lives of the patient and the people around them. Interventions related to the self-management of bipolar patients require a trusted collaboration between the nurses and the patient's caregivers and outlining the need to take appropriate responsibilities as far as the patient's safety is concerned (Wynter et al., 2019). Understanding bipolar as a mental disorder and associated symptoms helps the nurses and caregivers know the patient's self-care while utilizing mood monitoring in these patients. Self-monitoring bipolar patients require absolute mastery of the disease through experience to help the patients cope with the disease, improve quality of life and prevent worsening symptoms. Self-care management in bipolar patients could be challenging but rather vital to the aspect of recovery. The management plans help the patient to cope with the disease. Bipolar disorder can sometimes make the patients feel a little control; however, caregivers can exercise several mechanisms to manage the symptoms and improve well-being. Patients with bipolar disorder are advised to monitor their moods constantly and understand the symptom triggers that may result in depression or mania. Triggers could include loneliness, stress, sleep disturbance, seasonal changes, financial problems, and work-related stress. Symptoms and triggers are identified early enough to help prevent full-blown episodes of depression or mania (Michalak et al., 2019). Helping the patient learn bipolar warning signs such as changes in eating habits, sleep patterns, social withdrawal, avolition, and physiological signs such as constant headaches. These red flags are mostly associated with relapse bipolar; early identification will help the patient seek a support system like family and friends. Helping the patients to stick to particular routines can help them calm their moods; developing a wellness toolbox consisting of coping skills and diverse, interesting activities helps the patient maintain the mood and stabilize.
