What if I just
(Miles) Sparkflight- nightrain-wing (usually appears black like a regular nightwing, but particularly likes using his rainwing power of color change to blend into environments. He has future sight powers, but he hasnât harnessed them very well yet.)
(Gwen) Snowdance- icerain-wing (she has Snow White scales that look water colored blue and pink in some places. usually theyâre very light, easy colors in the eyes, they rarely change to anything too harsh unless sheâs really emotional. She treats her scales like a canvas.)
(Hobie) Ivy- rain-wing (lets his scales change color freely, no one really knows what his base scale pattern is like because heâs not one to cover up the emotion in his scales)
(Pavitr) Petrel- skyrain-wing (similarly to Swordfish, he only has select scales that can change color, but he really likes changing them. His base scale color is a true red tone, and he usually has blue and gold highlights on the scales he can change.)
(Miguel) Swordfish- Searain-wing (like a dark, dark blue, where only his light up scales change color. Being one of the only seawing he uses that to his advantage and communicates with himself under his breath with his light up scales. He basically looks like an rgb keyboard lmao.)
(Jess) Stardrift- night-wing (a dark, violet-black scaled dragon, her star scales on her wings look like shooting stars. Mind reader.)
(Peter B.) Petalite- sky-wing (average red skywing whoâs adorned with little trinkets)
(Mayday) Malachite- skywing (a bright red flamescale, Petalite made everyone gloves that they can put on their talons to hold her.)
(LYLA) Limpet- lucky for her sheâs the only human (scavenger, in this case). One of swordfishâs. . . Friends. . . found her one day and decided not to eat her so she (the friend) gave her to him as company. She thinks Swordfish is her pet dragon, Swordfish thinks sheâs his pet scavenger. Everyone is very confused in this scenario.
(The Spot) Polka Dot: fucked up little rainwing who somehow got his hands on an animus talisman. Oops.
(Margo) Seawhisper- nightsea-wing (sheâs a dark blue, lighter than Swordfish for reference, and has very gorgeous ombrĂŠ sky blue to light violet light up scales. She has mind reading powers :3)
(Kingpin) Strongwings- big fuckin nightwing. Like huge. If you think Swordfish looks big for a dragon youâre not prepared to see this guyâ erâ this corpse, I guess. Heâs dead.
Theyâre all connected through being animus. Other than Strongwings and Polka Dot, of course.
See it as like.. the talons of peace but everyone is less mentally stable.
Iâll come up with their dragon names later probably, and I might draw a few of them.
#nightwing naming conventions are hard#like I have to think of a defining trait and if they have powers#Seawhisper came to me first though since she can read minds and sheâs part seawing#thatâs a bad ass name#also I use âdriftââ a lot with Jess mainly because I equate it to her motorcycle#can you drift in a motorcycle??? idk you probably shouldnât doesnât sound safe-#also a limpet is a type of aquatic snail#theyâre very cute :3#atsv#across the spiderverse#miguel o'hara#miles morales#gwen stacy#hobie brown#pavitr prabhakar#peter b parker#jessica drew#mayday parker#lyla spiderverse#margo kess#the spot#kingpin#atsv au#wings of fire#wof#wof au#wings of fire au#spiderverse au#au idea#obligatory 30th tag because I can

Do you think you could regrow your arm? Like an amphibian?
"With magic and a long period of time, maybe a limb could be made to regrow. Maybe. I don't have a good grasp on magic either way, so it's not really an option. There aren't really any still around that I could ask."
#chimer#chi#minecraft#myart#((Tritons are a custom species before anyone asks))#((more inspired by the dnd race but with a unique biology))#((theyre closer to aquatic lizards than fish or birds but do share some traits with all three))#((Feel free to inquire more about them from chi if youre curious))#((i have entirely too much written on them not to share hehehe))

She's totally not standing on top of someone's head to forcibly keep them underwater and drown them for fun. Nope. Nuh-uh. Not her.
Ignore the amount of bubbles coming up around her hands and the flailing and thrashing limbs that try desperately to claw at her torso and the sand and surf around them. That's not important. Wouldn't you trust an innocent face like her's?

id love a spore cell/creature stage type of game where the whole premise is to survive, explore strange environments, encounter other weird creatures, discover ruins/fossils, unlock traits and become the most specialized critter in the world
#and maybe you start as some kinda worm in a pond with nothing#and you could evolve your critter in ways like. getting legs to explore the land. then going aquatic to explore the sea#then going for flight to reach high structures. or becoming more geared towards hot/cold climates to cross deserts n frozen tundras#you see where im going with this#but yeah the general gameplay.. im just picturing rw but if you could make & play some weird beasties#venspeaks#edit: rather than ''evolution'' i think ''metamorphosis'' might be a better word for what im picturing#like this thing is learning/adapting/mimicking via these mutations you can unlock#but you can only equip a certain amount of traits at a time so you have to mix n match constantly for the best fit

#about:the marionette#answered survey#keyword:outline#this was tricky because there are some traits that she can /show/ or act on but doesn't necessarily genuinely feel#i put those in italics#like she can absolutely present herself as friendly and cheerful around strangers#and i dunno even if it's for show it feels like it's still something???#like yes she's acting that way because of expectations but like...#that doesn't change that someone encountering her is going to find someone friendly#i mean a person can be friendly even if they're not feeling it#ask anyone in customer service#so yeah i'm still counting those#also idk how to fit in her hobby of tending to aquatic plants in a fish tank#not quite pets but not quite gardening

Olm (Proteus anguinus), family Proteidae, far NW Italy
This aquatic salamander is neotenic/paedomorphic (retaining juvenile traits - ie. gills and other aquatic adaptations)
Found only in karst rock cave systems with ample water in Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia Hercegovina, and far NW Italy.
Also called the "human fish", proteus, and white cave salamander.
Olms are blind, but have excellent sense of smell and hearing (for a salamander).

i learned that the Platypus stands out as one of the most unique and intriguing animals globally, brimming with contradictions and surprising features. Here are some astonishing contradictions and exceptional traits that will surely blow your mind:
It is a mammal, yet it lays eggs. This contrasts with the common expectation that mammals give birth to live young.
It produces milk to nurse its puggles (young platypuses) after hatching, yet it has no nipples. The milk is secreted through pores in the skin, and the puggles lap it up from the mother's belly.
Its digestive system is truly distinct, lacking a stomach and also teeth. Instead, it utilizes gastroliths (small stones) in its gizzard to aid in breaking down food.
Displaying a duck-like bill, a trait typically associated with birds, it's equipped with sensors to detect electrical signals from its prey. This feature is unparalleled among mammals.
The male platypus possesses venomous spurs on its hind legs, reminiscent of a reptilian trait.
Despite its semi-aquatic nature, it boasts webbed feet ideal for swimming like aquatic animals, alongside strong claws suited for burrow-digging for land-based living.
Employing both echolocation (sound-based navigation) and electrolocation (detecting electrical fields generated by muscle contractions in prey), it adeptly hunts underwater. This remarkable ability allows it to hunt without relying on eyes, ears, or smell.
As a monotreme, it has a single opening for the digestive, urinary, and genital organs, whereas in other species these organs are separate.
What a weird animal. It's so weird that it's hilarious that when the first specimen was sent to England about 200 years ago, British scientists initially believed it to be a hoax, suspecting that someone had combined the beak of a duck with the body of an otter or beaver.

I thought we had threw out the Spinosaurus is a pursuit predator idea already?
#yeah this is when i find out that i had reblogged the paper already and didn't take it seriously thanks to the picture attached#I'm firmly in the ''spinosaurus was semi-aquatic'' group#the creator of the video i just watched compared spinosaurus to a heron... which i disagree with#i do believe it has more aquatic traits than wading birds but less so than say a crocodilian

aquatic ancestor: it's lucky that I can carefully swallow a large edible object while retaining a small inedible object in my mouth to avoid choking! an adaptive trait.

MUDWINGS
Physical traits
Sharing a close common ancestor with seawings, mudwings are a very large flightless breed of dragon that have adapted to the swamps and mountain borders of their lands. The largest tribe in terms of their sheer bulk, mudwings typically have a chunky build, with fat tails and short powerful legs built for endurance, not speed. Mudwings are ambush predators, choosing to wallow in deeper waters to catch their prey or graze on plants. With iron stomachs and their powerful jaws and tongues, mudwings can eat just about anything they find. Their large canines and gum flaps are mostly used for displays of intimidation, as well as their gills.
Mudwing gills only work during their hatchling years in order to allow the babies to hide underwater from predators who would eat the unprotected newborns, whoâs scales are incredibly soft. As they grow older, mudwings lose the functional abilities of their gills but in exchange, grow thick flexible scales that protect their faces and bodies, with their underbellies remaining mostly soft. Mudwingsâ head ridges grow into horns that are layered and transition into a neck crest. Many mudwings also sport âbeardâ ridges on their face regardless of gender, and these serve no purpose but are considered attractive.
Mudwings are semi aquatic and can remain underwater for several hours, their soft nose flaps can close to prevent them from breathing water and their massive lungs can hold great deals of air. To help them detect prey in murkier waters, mudwings also have whiskers on their brows and around their noses, the exception to this is newborns, whoâs whiskers grow in as they age. As hatchlings they all tend to be a solid dull shade of any color, but brighter accent colors develop in adolescence.
Customs
Mudwings are a festive tribe, holding annual contests pitting sibling groups against each other in various sports, with a focus on having each sib group demonstrate how well they cooperate with each other. Mudwings also have a deep connection to food and mealtimes, their cuisine is heavily made up of stews and soups and large meals that can be shared, such as meat roasts. Mudwings borrow from sandwing culture and use sandwing spices so frequently in their cooking that theyâve become a staple in every mudwing household. The emphasis on sharing a meal with a guest is also extremely important, to not offer a meal to a stranger is considered a hostile action against that stranger by other mudwings. They appreciate foods from all over Pyrrhia and many merchants from other tribes come to the mudwing kingdom to sell treats and food that would not be welcome in other places due to cultural differences.
Mudwings are also incredible storytellers, with much of their history being passed down through oral storytelling, they donât keep many written records but instead have bards whoâs duty is to teach mudwings about their history and entertain them with song. They swear oaths that bind them to a faithful retelling rooted in truth, but they are allowed to make the stories as poetic as they please. Mudwing bards have traveled across Pyrrhia and some even tell the histories of other tribes. Despite their rich tradition, the other tribes tend to dismiss the mudwing approach, since they see bards as unreliable.

Another Digimon often seen in Aurora's setting, Seadramon
These large aquatic serpents are another common inhabitants of the Digital World, and can be found in various bodies of water, from rivers and lakes to seas and oceans.
They're excellent swimmers, unsurprisingly, and can dive to impressive depths. A very noticeable feature all Seadramon possess is the metal helmet-like armor on their heads, which is a part of their body, something observed pretty often in many different Digimon species, where various metals and minerals grow naturally on them. The beak and fins of the helmet keep growing with age, and it loses its shine the older the serpent gets.
They also come in a variety of colors, though the most common ones are blues and greens with white undersides, and red tailfins and jaw markings. Purple, grey and white of various hues were observed, along with some minor differences in appearance, which is attributed to different habitats. There have been cases of Seadramon found with bioluminescence, those who seem to prefer living in caves or at greater depths - another trait of Digimon - fast evolving adaptation - compared to any life forms of Earth. They can breathe on land, but they're slow and somewhat clumsy, moving around with the help of their front flippers and powerful tails.
Seadramon, though not all, are known to be more dangerous and territorial than some other Digimon humans encountered, and are somewhat prone to attacking without asking questions first. Any smaller Digimon or animal, including humans, are potentially on the menu, as Seadramon are near-exclusive carnivores, though mostly hunt fish and other aquatic life forms. Digimon can be sought after as a source of pure energy, rather than food. They attack by strangling their opponents and dragging them underwater if they can drown, or breathing out a cone of frost and ice.
Despite this, several non-partnered ones are known to work on Earth, in the organization alongside humans and other Digimon, namely helping with marine biology research, human-Digimon tech development, and issues like climate change and pollution. Later on, as Digimon become more publicly known, they take on the roles of helping in cases of natural disasters, sinking ships, and also patrol of coastal lines in case of aquatic hostile Digimon appearance, as well.
#Digimon project: Aurora#digimon#seadramon#monster#dragon#sea seprent#the ones that work with humans are good noodles#the one drawn specifically is named Rigel LOL#Digimon don't need names but humans get confused easily so they adapt names for themselves to make it easier for them#my art#my doodles
