Trailing Daisy - June 2024 Trailing Daisy (Sphagneticola trilobata) is one of many ground vine plants which help keep sand dunes in place. Like most of those vine plants they have very small flowers as seen in the second image. But for every very small flower there is a very small bee. Image one shows the bee in the flower. Image three is a better image of the daisy itself. MWM

Carmilla does respect authority, very much, but it's her mother's.

I should have specified that Carmilla does solely obey her mother in a truthful manner, one that is very clear when we read how she interacts with Laura's father and the mesdames. The book has inadvertently introduced the concept of a vampire sire with Carmilla's mother, whenever she is her blood related mother or her vampiric mother it doesn't matter because she is still placed in the same role of maternal authority who rules over Carmilla just like Laura's father rules over Laura.

The tangible difference is that Carmilla is bound to obey her sire mother on everything, while Laura can disobey her father.

Carmilla has absolutely no reason to truly obey someone else when she is already bound to an authority that has factual power over her. Moreso when the person she is falsely obeying is a human man who she probably sees him as both someone beneath her, and an obstacle to get far more closer to Laura. So, it's very comprehensible that Carmilla would "let" Laura's father speculate whatever he wanted if she can play his ego to her favor.
