IATA-Ausgabe von 2024 enthaltene Freistellung für Datenlogger und Trackingsysteme wurde bestätigt, so dass die eckigen Klammern im Anhang H, die auf noch offene Punkte hinweisen nicht mehr relevant sind. Im Anhang H finden Sie die neue Regelung im Unterabschnitt H.1.2.7.1, Buchstabe (i). Zu beachten ist insbesondere, dass die Nennenergie von Lithium-Ionen-Zellen und -batterien gleichermaßen auf 20 Wh begrenzt ist und bei Lithium-Metall-Zellen und -Batterien der Lithiumgehalt gleichermaßen auf 1 Gramm begrenzt ist.

Speedcast provides an international cruise line with a new high-speed connectivity platform

A specialist connectivity solution delivering data rates for the new ship of an international cruise line has been implemented, according to Speedcast, a communications and IT services provider. The ship, which uses liquified natural gas and has a capacity of 6,500 passengers, was equipped with the satellite-to-ship tracking system. The ship's new connectivity service, which was introduced as part of its first 14-day transatlantic voyage, is now crucial to the success of the vessel's year-round business. In contrast to a "best effort" option, Speedcast offers dedicated capacity, which is a CIR-based (committed information rate) service. Along the journey, the capacity is available at all times. Speedcast's TrueBeam technology, a software-driven platform that maintains quality of service across satellite beams with automated, intelligent beam-switching and traffic-steering based on location, footprint contours, and committed information rates, supports the ship's onboard network. In order to meet demands for full vessel capacity, Speedcast's TrueBeam platform provides tracking between the satellite and ship for high levels of availability. With the capacity to burst to 1.8 Gbps on demand, the dual Ka-band antenna solution offers unmetered bandwidth for the duration of the ship's whole trip for the ensuing two years. This is an example of the impressive bandwidth consistently given to a ship over the history of the cruise industry. In comparison to just ten years ago, the bandwidth being given to the single ship exceeds the total bandwidth delivered throughout the entire fleet of the cruise operator. Speedcast and the client have previously worked together to demonstrate Speedcast's capacity to supply significant volumes of bandwidth for bursting, breaking records in 2016 and 2018. Since the ship has been equipped with TrueBeam technology from Speedcast and has full satellite-to-ship tracking, it is now able to maintain a constant bandwidth level for all of its journeys, including transatlantic ones. The company's SIGMA network management platform and enterprise-grade SD-WAN are also included in Speedcast's comprehensive network management suite, which also includes the proprietary TrueBeam technology. Cybersecurity as a Service is another. These tools work together to provide clients with great service across satellite, cellphone, and fibre connectivity. According to Brent Horwitz, senior vice president of cruise at Speedcast, "Since the cruise industry started its return to sea, demand for bandwidth has increased beyond all estimates to satisfy the needs of passengers." "This technical approach, which ensures that the ship always remains in the centre of the beam, delivers maximum bandwidth levels consistently.
