Funny fact, even before the Crossover Contest was announced over on the TPP Subreddit, I was telling some friends in the loop about how I’d been playing with the images of the Season 5 kids matching up with the Critical Role gang. Mostly stemming from my summary of Flora Sky and how Hannah, as a ninja and in her attitude, kinda reminded me a lot of Beau. And how I could easily see Hannah saying several of her lines. And then it just kinda expanded. So when the contest came up, I felt like I HAD to do something with this. I’ve actually got several scenes in my head I won’t likely draw but am tempted to write out for this crossover / AU that’s been forming, but I figured this scene, sad as it is, is one I could actually draw since I’m not that great an artist. 

So, I’ve had this weird headcanon forming that there’s a reason We never use Demo for battle. It’s one thing with the side-game Hosts because all of them seem to have the personality built in that comes with, or at least the slow but calculated or totally zen with the ridiculousness seems to become a big part of them because of the pacing. But for anarchy Hosts, any basic battle can become incredibly high stress because of how easy things can go wrong, though some handle it better than others (like the touch screen kids). Democracy Mode is basically the Voices’ ultimate weapon. We use it for places we need to channel ALL our energy into precise inputs which is why it’s often used for less stressful situations like block pushing puzzles or on some occasions just being silly and playful with the Host (Teachy TV for days). It’s in a safe zone or in a situation the Chosen know they can focus without threat of being attacked. 

There’s only two cases that come to mind when we resorted to Demo against a TRAINER. Eeyup / Eunice going against Azure, who had a team of mostly Legendaries if I remember rightly and all over level 100 because Pyrite allows for that, and not to mention, it was a Mt. Silver battle which meant trying to get to her at full health to pray for a chance. And with C.C. (aka Cesar) from the Dual Red and Blue anniversary run last year. Not only was he in the high stress situation of the Lv. 100 League rematch, but he lost EVERYTHING. Half the team had been murdered released, the other half shoved into different boxes, and all he had to fight with was a Lv. 26 Nidoking. Given enough time, I’m sure we could have recovered but the problem was, no one wanted to. Blue had already beaten their side of the race and with it being a Dex Completion run, the only thing left to do in the game was beating the League so there wasn’t anything for Blue to be doing while Red would have had to reform a team and then level grind for likely another week or so. Demo wasn’t available, but the mods gave it to the Chat to fix things up. 

That can’t be healthy for a kid normally. But for a Host to suddenly become a vessel for the Voices’ insatiable r a g e I’m pretty sure that has some deeper effects on them, both in channeling the Voices’ reality warping capabilities even for only a little while and the image of this kid having been beaten down one too many times now slowly approaching those that wronged them to rain JUDGEMENT on them with mechanical precision and full deadly force. C.C.’s obviously been released from that power by the point he’s explaining what the heck happened to him, but whole affair still has him incredibly messed up even if he’s learned to cover it well.
