The FA20 has proven to be a wonderful platform with a turbocharger strapped on. Whether it is the VA chassis WRX or the BRZ/FRS/GT86 platform, the FA20 provides excellent bottom-end torque with plenty of power left to give higher into the RPMs when turbocharged. Common issue owners are running into is valve float at higher RPMs.

Valve float is a result of the valve springs not being able to compress and rebound fast enough with the rate of the camshafts. Kelford developed a set of dual valve springs that feature titanium retainers. Utilizing the factory valve spring seats, the Kelford spring kit simply replaces the factory single spring with a beefy dual spring.

With the release of the new Toyota GT86, every jdm enthusiast cried tears of joy. After Toyota was in a hiatus from manufacturing performance-oriented vehicles, the GT86 hit the market hard. Reviving and paying homage to the AE86 this new chassis was groundbreaking for Toyota.

Immediately after its release, the GT86 began receiving tons of aftermarket support. With new builds coming out left and right it started becoming one of Toyota’s most popular cars to modify. Showing up to a car show will guarantee a few of them sitting in the parking lot with some sort of modification done.

Being that this new chassis took the tuner community by storm, it has since become rare to find a GT86 in its stock form. Most owners immediately aim for the massive widebody fenders, deep-dish wheels, and intense camber to be a show car. This wasn’t the case for our customer who tastefully modified their GT86 but still holds true to its AE86 roots.

Due to the lack of style offered from the factory wheels, our customer installed a set of GramLight 57CR Wheels. Subaru substantially raises UK prices across the range Subaru has introduced substantial price increases to all models in its UK line-up for 2020. Quietly introduced last month, the price hikes are much more significant than is the case with normal periodic cyclical updates. The starting price for the firm’s BRZ sports car, for example, has risen £4160 to £31,995. That represents a 15% premium over its previous cost, and means the BRZ now costs £4165 more than its Toyota GT86 sibling. Prices for the Levorg estate have also jumped sharply, rising from £30,995 to £33,995, while the Outback, Forester, XV and Impreza now each cost around £2000 more than they did before the changes. Subaru’s revamped pricing strategy comes as manufacturers seek to compensate for heavy government-imposed fleet emissions penalties. Starting this year, the EU fleet-wide average CO2 emission target – which also affects the UK market – for new cars is 95g/km, down from the previous target of 130g/km. Manufacturers must pay €95 (£80.50) for each g/km in excess of the new target.  Subaru does not yet have a bespoke EV on sale to bring its fleet’s emissions average down, nor does it have a credits deal in place with another manufacturer, such as that between FCA and Tesla.  A spokesperson for Subaru UK claims the pricing increase is due to "a combination" of several factors rather than the fleet average targets themselves.
